REVIEWS OF North Memorial Health Hospital IN Minnesota

First: This review should not reflect poorly on Nurses because the 3-west nurses have been wonderful during my spouse’s unfortunate 6-day stay. But, from a missed allergy bracelet upon arrival in ER, to 16 hour delay before being seen by a provider after being admitted, to way delayed or forgotten orders after being seen (blood tests, scans, diet changes) to inappropriate consults that were not agreed upon (e.g gall bladder removal v. Endoscopy are very different things). Thankfully, an experienced surgeon twice advised against surgery in favor of less invasive procedures. My advice to this hospital—get the PA’s out of the way and let patients see doctors rather than sending PAs as messengers. How do you know your patient? Furthermore if you have patient-centered care, how does the patient know who the care team is if we never meet them???? Case in point: If you understand the game “telephone” you understand that a message changes the more people it goes through. That’s where many of your errors occurred this week. Why your nurses are so great on 3-west? They caught the allergy bracelet miss, the consult that was never placed, and followed along reminding responsible staff to get their orders in. Thanks nurses! Please take this critical feedback as an opportunity for improvement and to reduce risk to your patients.

Very good Surgeons, and Doctors, that quickly found what was wrong and fixed it. Excellent and helpful Nurses and Support Staff. I was there for 2-1/2 weeks. Great Care.

I have seen NMMC go downhill over the past few years. I have been a patient there several times and only ONCE did I receive the compassionate care they brag about. It goes beyond the uncaring nurses. I am a nurse and would NEVER treat any patient the way North treats theirs. The Drs I have had made almost fatal judgements with my illness. If it wasn't for my medical knowledge, I honestly believe I would be dead. I have also heard the horrible stories of other patients at NMMC. They claim to be heightening their quality of care, but I have not seen any change. I will NEVER receive care there again. And this goes for my family as well.

It would be a one if it weren’t for the AMAZING nurses. Literally I could trash all of the hospital but the nurses deserve so much better. But otherwise, this place gives horrible care. Don’t go here unless it’s the only option.

Pimp-Daddy

Everyone was very kind and helpful. I’ve been to a few different ER’s in my time and this one was hands down the most friendly.

AIMEE LACY

The immediate and ongoing care I received at North Memorial was excellent. Thanks to all staff addressing Floor 5 in the Neurological Unit, who helped me immensely.

Better than county.

In May the ER team at North Memorial Health diagnosed my cancer. At that time I spent 3 1/2 days in the hospital and since then have returned for out patient tests, treatments, and consultations at the Hospital, Cancer Center, and the Clinic in New Hope. Without exception, every person I have come in contact with has been informative, efficient and helpful, but even more than that, compassionate, encouraging and caring. Without exception. People have held my hand during difficult times, answered every question, reached the strings I couldn't tie, let me chatter away to calm my nerves, and even cracked jokes just because or laughed at my stupid ones. And so much more. I am so thankful to be taking this cancer journey with them. Thank you so much!

The worst hospital ever !

Theresa Ahner

Sick place staff make fun of dying elderly and have no care of anyone's heath was treated worse than 3rd world hospice shame on them Got MRSA from them

Nan Brown

We had superb care and support at North Memorial. Our doctors were the best and kept our family well informed. We always felt included in the decision making. The nursing staff was stellar. Their care was fabulous and they too made sure we knew what was happening. We were encouraged to call at any hour, day or night, if we needed reassurance. OT and PT offered wonderful rehabilitation as an inpatient and them later on an out-patient basis.

Barb Doran

The nurses and medical assistants are awesome...I was treated with the utmost respect when i was in the atrium...

My son and husband were there for almost four hours(4/17/18). They checked my son's vitals, did a culture swab for possible strep throat then medication to try and lower his fever. The care pretty much stopped at that point. They were given a pager. Pager buzzed and they walked up to desk to be told, "I didn't page you". They ended up leaving because they were exhausted and sick of waiting. Didn't even bother to give an update or explain what the hold up was. Lack of communication in healthcare but everyone is only concern about their paychecks. There is no care in healthcare anymore. I have never been more disappointed in the healthcare system then I am right now.

Bruce Johnson

Both my boys were delivered here - Dr King gave me a five artery bypass on 11/2/11 and I got a new lease on life - My care was top notch - I go back once a year for a status check - Thanks North Memorial

My BF was treated horribly by staff after being admitted for back issues! He seemed to be more of inconvenience for them than trying to help him. Staff was completely RUDE! We will never go back to this hospital. Terrible care!!

Liz Anonymous

Worst!! After checking in, you get moved into a room fairly quickly. No efffs are given after that!!!! Negligent health "Professionals". Travel 10-30 minutes elsewhere!!

Swiss Cake

Worst hospital! ICU nurses are extremely rude and nasty. My family member left in worse condition than when he got there because they were too busy to help him out of bed so his organs began shutting down without adequate exercise. Also, because he required assistance to use the bathroom and no one ever came he was left to soil himself in the bed because they wouldn't help him to the bathroom. Then they made it his fault! Even one of the staff members said she wouldn't bring her loved ones here. Go anywhere but here if you have a choice!

Marc Zeider

I went in for an infected tooth. The dr.didnt even look inside my mouth and sent me away. This place does nothing to help and told me to take Tylenol which I told them wasn't effective.Dont go here if can find a different place to go.The staff is rude.the doctors don't care and I will let myself die before I go back to this sorry excuse for a hospital. Thanks to the Nurses they are the ones who keep the heartbeat going in this sorry excuse for a Hospital.

Tamara

Amazing doctors nurses. 15 yes later I still see my neurologist every 6 months. No one wants to be in an ICU in a coma, but if you had to choose a hospital to be flown to, they are the best hands to be in.

La femme noir

DO NOT COME TO THIS HOSPITAL BAD CARE AND THEY JUST TRY TO MAKE MONEY OFF OF YOU. I WENT THERE FOR THE FLU AND THEY GAVE ME AN UNNECESSARY CT SCAN AND CONTRAST WHICH EXPOSED ME TO RADIATION I DID NOT NEED. THEY DON'T SEND IN DOCTORS, JUST NURSES. WILL NEVER GO BACK. WOULD GIVE THEM ZERO STARS AND THE MEDS THEY GAVE ME WERE MAKING ME WORSE, I STOPPED TAKING THEM AND SIMPLY GOT REST AND KEPT MYSELF HYDRATED AND GOT BETTER THAT WAY.

Elaine Haug

I want to thank the staff and Dr who took care of me with my recent visit. The nurses were great and thank you for getting my insulin under control.

Matthew Burrell

Just got back from this hospital. BE CAREFUL IN THIS PLACE!! The room I was put in had fresh blood on the sheets, and I was asked it lay down on it. When I pointed this out to the nice gentleman who brought me back to the room, he said its probably just a stain. He pulled the top blanket down, revealing another blood stain on the sheet right below where the first blood stain was. It was not a stain, it was bright red fresh blood. He did not inform anyone else. When Dr Saavedra came in he again asked me to lay down on the bed, I pointed out the blood stains and he clearly said this room has not been cleaned. The nurses changed the sheets. I already get nervous coming to this hospital because on a prior visit I developed a golf ball sized knot/infection under my skin. My north memorial Primary care Dr. Reinier examined it, and told me that the bad bacteria in hospitals can enter through a hair follicle. I hate leaving a bad review, but this was over the top disgusting. And much worse, potentially very dangerous. This place needs to clean up it's act. My care was fine, I guess, but this is one more event that caused me further increased anxiety. I can no longer go to north memorial without getting massive panic attacks, this just made it much worse. If you're an attorney with a pending case I'll be happy to testify under oath as to my experience. My geeeeee-m'ale account is matthewburrell1

Thank you for the outstanding service you gave me and my fellow AF family members. Everyone I came in contact with was very professional and friendly. I can't thank you all enough.

I had a lot of horrible experiences through my old health system that caused me to change from Fairview to North Memorial and I'm finally starting to regain my faith in doctors again. I had multiple health problems that I hadn't been able to even get looked into at my old system that I finally was able to get diagnosed and treated for with North Memorial, including dvts, a pulmonary embolism and edema and I have been nothing but impressed. The wait time to see a doctor, even specialists is usually very reasonable and the appointments are longer and less hurried than through other places I've gone. I live in Saint Paul and am willing to travel to Robbinsdale to see a doctor here, that should say it all.

Timothy Julien

Worst hospital experience, by far. I had terrible back pain(i was in tears, couldnt even sit up straight) and they made me wait for 4 hours in the waiting room until they took me back into a room, told me it was nothing to be concerned about, gave me a 2ml muscle relaxer, and sent me home. Ran no tests, just in and out with a generic excuse for my pain. Recently went in to the E.R. twice for my throat and neck, both times they told me its viral, said there was nothing wrong, and told me to drink water and take tylenol. Both times, ran no tests. Ignored my requests, and sent me on my way. Was forced to see a specialist who confirmed that i had tonsilitis for weeks before i went into the E.R. The doctors dont care.

Don PUKAL

Top shelf health care

Rob Owens

Worst Hospital in the state. Treat patients terrible.

Sara Johnson

Everytime I've come to the Minnetonka location, I've had exceptional care!!! The doctor's are very knowledge, thorough & compassionate!!! The nurses are very caring & make you comfortable. I can't thank you all enough for the awesome experiences I've had here the past 10+ times I've been here!!! THANK YOU ALL!!!! Sincerely, Sara Johnson

Jennifer Humenik

Had a nurse here a few years back, I've forgotten his name. But he let me puke in my water cup. Best part is it should be all on video since I was in a obsession room, for depression. And I was in a very very bad place in my life. But, the psychologist discharged me, because unlike the nursing staff THAT night he understood. Oh and let's not even get into what happened to my grandmother and how they let her go styptic

David Lauretta

Today I received wonderful service Karen was very nice, respectful and understanding last time I was here I received the complete opposite I am thankful that they took care of me and got me out of here.

All the parking is blocked off except for valet. There are signs directing you to other blocked off ramps. Everytime I come here there's always a hassle.

Very upset with North Memorial A couple days ago my SIL was brought in to a suicide attempt for the third time in the last couple of years. Rather than recognize the serious of this and what a danger she can be, they let her go after one day. Before letting her go, I called to tell the nurses on the station what a danger she can be. The nurse basically dismissed my concern, but then TOLD my SIL that I had called urging them to keep her. Why on earth would the nurse tell my SIL that I had called urging them to keep her. Naturally they are the medical professionals and can do what they want I think its nut to let someone like that back into society, but that's their call But they should not have told my SIL that I called urging them to keep her. Now I am getting harassing calls from my SIL all the time.

Best possible experience, from the paramedics that answered my 911, to the Cardiac unit, the ICU staff, and finally the general ward. Follow-up, re-hab and discharge, all top-notch. Facilites, great. I was guided through this experience in the best way possible. Kudos, and thank you, North Memorial doctors, nurses and staff.

Shard

they seem helpful and didn't let my brother die.

Nicole Hertell

Today we had North memorial ambulance transport my dad from the Minneapolis va to a different facility. The gals, both named Kathy, we're fantastic and the nicest people we have dealt with during my dad's ordeal! God bless them!

Mary Gravdal

Care and staff wonderful!

Thaddaeus Romberg

My appendix ruptured a few years ago. I have never had such a short ER wait. Within minutes of arrival at ER I was checked in and being prepped for surgery. Staff was awesome after.

Briton Bochenski

I was air lifted from mora to North Memorial Hospital and as with meeting that many personalities you have hits and misses. My Dr. Ramler was my guy and I will say his bedside manner is terrible. That being said his staff were all more then accomidating and made my stay here a pleasent one. Dr. Ramler made changes to my medications that were non related to my injury. He stated he didnt think I should need that much of this. We wont be giving you this while your under our care. Things that he should not have done seeing as how I was here for a specific injury. He didnt need to go make changes that my primary had been working on for years.

T JJ

They are taking care of my father in icu pretty well. My complaint is the cafe. Myself and others in my family got food poisoning after eating the food. We know it's the food because that's the only place we've ate at.

Ben Hyman

I had a stroke in early June. I was sent here by ambulance within 30 minutes of my calling 911. They used both TPA and mechanical thrombectomy to remove the clot. They succesfully opened the clogged artery and restored movement and speech. My aftercare was also first rate. I made a complete recovery and was back to work the following Monday. Even the hospital staff was amazed at how quickly I recovered. I still have occasional weakness on my left side but I am overcoming that with my exercise program and Kettlebell classes. The excellent medical staff literally saved my life. It may not be as fancy as Abbott or Mayo, but their care and expertise is every bit as good. If you are having stroke symptoms and North Memorial is one of your options for care, I would highly recommend them as your first choice. Make sure that whatever hospital you choose, they have experience with both TPA and mechanical thrombectomy. You may need both and not all hospitals can do a physical removal. North Memorial is one of the best.

Nothing but bad memories with this place. My Dad went here in pain and they couldn’t even find what was wrong. My Mom went there and they couldn’t figure out what was wrong. The LAST straw was me and my wife went for my first ultrasound and they scared her so bad saying things look bad and she miscarried! Didn’t even slowly break things to us. Just rushed in the room and said things look bad. They couldn’t even give it to us straight as to what was happening with our baby! We lost the baby and they couldn’t give us answers. It was the worst most heartbreaking experience I ever had! Just driving pass this place brings back horrible memories!

There are no negative option to give them. They deserve -5 star. My insurance always have problem with them. They have some many gray terms and conditions and they take benefit of those to bill inappropriately. This is the worst hospital in US due to its money looting habits from patients. They make all your preventive visits to outpatient visits. Other hospitals like health east have better billing perspectives. North memorial is the real money looter. WORST HOSPITAL IN USA!!

Vickie Johnson

Okay, going to the Emergency room is always scary to me but N. M. ER was about as good as it could be. Checking in, providing reasons, nurses, then the wait... Dr. Lew was terrific, staff nurse in "the" room appropriately concerned, John, ( supervisor for blood draws) efficient - no bruising! The C-scan tech efficient. Dr. Lew, reviewed all blood work, tests and explained his diagnosis for my health concerns. I was very satisfied with my experience. My only concern is billing since that's unknown at this time. Guessing I won't need to wait long for that answer.

Susan Peterson

This is always my first choice when I need a hospital. I'm home on the mend from emergency surgery, and every single nurse, nursing aide, doctor, technician, and anesthesiologist who took care of me was first rate, friendly and caring. A special thanks to nurses Aly, Erin, Jess, Roxy, Nell and Marissa and aides Lucas, Alonna and Vicky who were kind and funny and wonderful. Bless you all.

Jim Hawkins

I want to thank the amazing staff on 5th floor For caring and support

North Memorial allowed another health clinic, Respiratory Consultants, where I was NEVER a patient at to view my entire medical file from North Memorial. They informed me about it by sending a letter. The person who read my records was my X Boyfriends X Wife. They did not offer an apology, financial compensation or press criminal charges. I subsequently learned that they have been sued by the Attorney General for violating patients privacy and had to pay $1.5 million (not related to my case). The details of the lawsuit from the Attorney General's lawsuit are quite worth looking into, I will be making a youtube video soon, explaining in full detail. After my records were released without my consent to a clinic I wasn't even a patient at, my Mom became a patient there. she was taken there for Pneumonia and subsequently died in hospice after being transferred from North Memorial. They would not answer my calls or give me any info about her condition. I was told I had to contact my "Aunt" when I Tried talking to the Dr. When I was at the hospital the week my Mom died, the Dr. laughed in my face that I thought my Mom was dying. She was in the ICU, this was the ICU DR, that did this. My Mom was then sent to hospice where she died shortly after. (In stark contrast to our treatment at North Memorial Hospice was incredibly warm and kind to my Mom and my family and made us feel very welcome and answered all of our questions day or night. We were so happy to spend my Mom's final moments at hospice after our nightmare experience at North Memorial.) The Dr. at North Memorial made a major mistake when my Mom was there, she was supposed to have her feeding tube removed and they did not remove it. This lead to intense pain and suffering at the time of her death that made everyone suffer. This is not a good hospital. I felt they did not care about my Mom at all, she had a broken back and the nurses dropped her while she was in there care. Another red flag-Prince's Dr. quit his job at North Memorial the day he died.

Matthew Gress

These staff of A6 were amazing and took wonderful care of me when I was in for an opportunistic infection that I had to be admitted for this past weekend. Thank you to everyone! I would definitely recommend North Memorial Medical Center to anybody who wanted an attentive Health Care team.

Michelle Burton

I was at North Memorial for choking 11/14/17. Had to have an endoscopy to remove food. Someone during my emergency stole my charger and $48 out of my purse. I was the only one there and staff so some staff stole my belongings while dealing with choking. I did call and report the theft.

Rachel Ballstadt

I went to that hospital when I had my wizdom teeth pulled a long time ago. The nurses and doctors took good care of me. I have a uncle and aunt that work there. I would recommend going there for any surgery or etc anyone needs. Awesome & amazing hospital.

Tony Giese

My 46 years old sister, was born with Downs Syndrome and a heart defect. She knows how to make people smile, we call it UP Syndrome. Suffering from a blood infection and treated for 23 days at the 6th floor ICU unit. We thought we might lose her, so I flew up from Florida to be at her bedside. Our family must say THANK YOU for the above and beyond care she received from ALL staff, ministers, nurse's, nurse aides and brilliant doctors. You saved her life and our family will be forever grateful. Your attentive hard work, personal care, love for AKA "the BOSS", make North Memorial by far one of the best hospitals in the country. You're ALL blessed angels!

Got MRSA from them when they forced me to lay in a dirty bed now got a bill for it for 2k The staff laughed in hallway at dying elderly people and made me wait 4 hours to urinate and refused to get me clean drinking water and tried to force me to take drugs I have never heard of and I dont even take aspirin whole experience has made me afraid to step foot in a hospital ever again rude staff beyond sick and cruel treatment I was even refused a priest when I thought I was going to die from their maltreatment they laughed at me and denied me a wheelchair and said I was faking a severe back injury because they caused it I called to have an internal investigation done on the hospital which they did nothing I strongly recommend to go anywhere else in the world besides this place 0 rating Also I think their standardized responses to their negligence and mistreatment to myself and others is beyond pathetic If enough of you guys that had malpractice and cruel and unusual treatment here organized we could put on a very VERY large protest of this all in the name of change equality and fair treatment !!!

Camille Tollefson

The quality of care here is horrid! My husband and I were in a motorcycle vs deer accident in early June in Grantsburg WI. My husband was transported to North Memorial for a potential surgery on his pcl. I was sent home very bruised. The next afternoon was the first time I was able to see my husband. NO ONE had cleaned him up. We had been covered in deer blood and guts. He told me that the staff had given him wipes to clean himself off with and refused to give him anything to drink-not even ice chips-for the 9 hours he was in the ER. I filled a dish with hot water, shampooed his hair, and scrubbed his arms and face the best I could being in pain still myself. The next day I visited my husband again and he still had not been bathed. He told me that he told the nurses that he had bugs crawling on him and they told him it was just a "hallucination". I changed his bedding. It was covered in bugs from when we hit the deer. The staff continued to dose him even when told that he didn't want any more narcotics. He ended up getting sick from them shooting drugs in his IV against his wishes. I am so happy he did not need surgery. I am so very happy I was able to take him home and give him a shower. I am very happy I was able to move him to our own doctor and PT.

Greg Eckes

The one star is only for the parts of this hospital I used. The er was fantastic. Then everything went down hill. From security calling the police because I was resting in my car to a Dr. G not remembering he had performed a surgery. Then refusing to see the patient saying he was on vacation for the next month. Please weigh your other options carefully.

Shari Larson

My husband was recently taken to North Memorial via ambulance for a life-threatening illness. The emergency room doctors and staff were all amazing! He needed emergency dialysis and was in the ICU for several days before he was transferred to a regular room. We couldn't be more impressed by the doctors, dialysis team, nurses, and everyone who cared for my husband. Myself & our children all credit the wonderful staff at this hospital for saving our husband/father's life. Thank you!

James Darsnek

As I read some of these reviews I can't help but wonder what planet some of these people are on. I've had the displeasure of needing the services of the ER on 5 separate occasions, all of which I'm sure put me at the head of the line. The outstanding people in the ER from the doctors to the janitors take their rolls seriously and do everything they can to take care of you. I'm sure that at times I wasn't the most co-operative patient in the world, but they were always kind even when they had to push me to do something I didn't want to do. Bottom line is I should've died those 5 times and would have if not for the ER staff at North. The care that I received after being transferred to ICU and later to a regular room again was stellar. I've had nurses that were pulling double shifts because weather was bad and other nurses couldn't make it in and they remained upbeat and nice even though you knew they had to be pooped. I've had requests for more pain meds denied because it was to soon and you could see in their eyes that they wished that they could give it to you early. I can not praise all of the staff at North enough for what they done for me in the last 45 years. In my eyes there is not a finer hospital anywhere.

Alisha Litsheim

We went to the ER recently, and initially, the visit was fine. Staff was friendly, and they were fast to get us checked in and get my husband's vitals, but then we ended up waiting more than 2 hours with no update. When I went and asked, they told me that they had reached a "standstill" and they couldn't give me a time estimate. The staff were so much ruder than before, and wouldn't listen to any of my concerns about the dark color of his vomit. At that point, we were just beyond frustrated that we left. There were three other people in front of us anyway. When we told them we were leaving because we couldn't wait any longer, they said that it was "busy city wide," and that it wouldn't be faster anywhere else. We left and went to the Abbott ER and got a room right away. We've been to the ER at North Memorial before, and we didn't get to leave until 7 hours later over an issue that could've been resolved in half that. No wonder it takes them so long to get people into a room. It was absolutely ridiculous, and I won't be going back.

Lisa Duncan

Worst service. I brought my 89 year old father into the ER with severe stomach pain and we waited in the waiting room for hours with no expectations as to when he would be seen. I will never bring anyone to this hospital again. The care stinks! This wasn't the first time we had a bad experience here! So never again. This used to be a great hospital. I don't know what happened to it..

Mark Dalluge

Worst ever....parents in their 80's and we have been in waiting for 5 hours and the wait will be much longer. Crazy!

Helen Ann Olson

I was admitted through the ER and had a really bad experience. It took 6 hours to get a fan and 4 hours to get an ice pack. These are are least troublesome of my problems with the hospital. You should never hear your nursing assistant say "I will probably forget so you will need to remind me" when you are at the mercy of their care. I was admitted for having an allergy triggered asthma episode and was not given care to make me better until I was in crisis mode. There was a lack of communication between my health care givers (doctors, nurses and nurses assistances). I had to keep repeating myself and asking for help! I was not given one of my medications that I had asked for from the moment I got there for almost 2 days. This was even after the doctor said that my lack of this medication was making my situation worse. What was even more annoying was watching the TV and seeing the commercials by North Memorial and how health care is broken and they are working to fix it. Well......they have a long way to go! I am glad I finally made it though the ordeal but it was touch and go for way too long!

Victoria Kelly

In 1982 I was admitted to the psychiatrist unit and found out that I had several mental health issues and for the first time I was told that I had had depression all of my life. I was admitted because my biological father had been raped by him since I was an infant and finally got help and support and I am a 55 yr old Womyn with 31 years sobriety and Drug free!

Heather Folkestad

This is a review of the Billing Services Dept. They are terrible!!! They have sent numerous bills to collections stating that we never paid them but we have set up a monthly payment plan and have ALWAYS paid our bills. Their statements do not clearly show other payments that are due and they don't care. I explained that I can't afford a negative credit ding on top of my losing my job. THEY DON'T CARE! Both the sales rep and the supervisor were rude, insensitive and snotty. If I didn't like my doctor I would go somewhere else. They have no compassion for veteran's and their families as I explained that my husband is a service member and that while his insurance covers the account, we needed to be on a payment plan because I lost my job. They need to rethink their customer service reps, and supervisors.

Matthew Arnold

worst hospital experience of my life. My daughter's pain was completely and totally out of control and they just treated her that some how that was her own weakness to not be able to deal with her own surgical pain

Dana Listerud

Have to keep reminding the staff what was needed. At one point they left my fiance in the shower by himself for 20 mins without the help he needed all because a nurse was almost off duty.

Kemal Ozturk

My mother, 95 years old, was at the emergency room. Doctors, nurses and all the other staff were very professional. She got the best care possible! ***** Thank you!

Amy Avieda

Doctors dont listen, dont understand. Food is always just as bad. Nurses are the only ones i will give credit to for being nice and being a better listener than the doctors. Psychologist, atleast one that i saw, doesnt even care about his job or cares to listen when hes getting paid to listen. I would rate 1 star if the nurses would terrible but they are actually rather respectful and caring people. The doctors dont listen, they just see something, and give the wrong diagnosis.

Cook M Up

Doctors absolutely suck and don't know what they're doing or care. You could be poisoned or have a knife stuck in your back and they'll make you wait 4 hours to get checked in and then they'll tell you it's nothing serious. I hate all of them with a passion.

robin doll

I can't say enough about the staff here and the amazing care I received today! Very kind and friendly.

MaddieMaxx Hopkins

Currently in the ER so my review might be jaded. However, I have been here 4 different times and each time, unprofessional staff from security to ER Staff. Best practices and due diligence is none existent.I laugh when I see "voted best hospital." By whom, I would ask? I understand that they are close to north Minneapolis where some of their "guests /patients" can be trying but they often instigate and cause people to become irate. Since a lot of the staff don't live in the area they are not culturally sensitive and are down right racists. They are rude when they speak to you (tone is everything). The waiting room is dark and often dirty (trash, cups, blankets on the floor). The windows are tinted so you can't see out. It is not uncommon to have a 3 to 4 hour wait even on times that are not normally busy. Parking is horrible and they make it a struggle to get to the ER. One ER doctor often mis-diagnoses. Unlike Fairview Southdale they are not thorough. OFTEN don't do the necessary testing. There is a PA that works the ER (Dominic) that is really good. You can tell he cares about people and takes his role as medical professional seriously. Oh yeah, don't ask for anything for pain. Due to a medical condition, I have severe abdominal pain and asked for pain medication. Instead of looking at my chart from another hospital, they told me to take Tylenol and Ibuprofen. I guess being African American female, I am sure I fit the profile of drug seeking behavior. It's really sad. People usually come to the ER because they are in severe pain, why would you want to make it harder on them/make them feel worse. P.S. I arrived at 4:30 am and it is now 6:34 am.

Lil_roo1

Will never visit again first time last time very unprofessional front desk

Amanda Stappler

Amazing care in cardiology, vascular, and hematology! They were wonderful with my mom!

Sasha M

Don't go to this ER. The women that checked me in and took my vitals were very sweet. The doctor didn't seem to care much about me as a patient. He cut me off after I started answering a question he had asked. When he left my room he stopped to talk with other staff right outside my room. While I'm crying they were chatting. I got up and left without getting treated. Never got the medications . Never going back there. I don't have anything to say to any representative. No one was concerned about my safety or well-being when I left, and they still got paid by my insurance.

The nurses are very caring and the doctors made me feel mostly comfortable. I like that they have a smoking area too because most hospitals won't even let you out to smoke anymore.

Was sent to the ER from Urgent Care for diagnosed Appendicitis...Waited 3 hours to see a Dr. The Dr. saw me, told me I didn't have appendicitis, did an ultra sound and told me I had an ovarian cyst. Currently at the OB-GYN and found out he withheld information from me about on a diagnosed infection....and by the way, it was appendicitis...I'm 90% sure all of the 4 and 5 stars on here are the Doctors trying to write review to make sure the axe handle doesn't come down. They should actually have their licenses revoked for their terrible service and professionalism.

Staffing is generally very kind. The most recent visit they happily accommodated our family along with friends. Very attentive staff along with exceptional care in their ICU units. You know they are busy but they understand your family and concerns. Always by name always soft spoken with a big heart. Thank you nursing staff!

Loretta Reed

I was airlifted there from a atv accident on july 27 i can not say enough about all the staff i encountered on my 38 day stay there everyone was so amazing i coudnt of asked for better care by the staff my only complaint is it was never really explained to me all of my injuries and what they all did but all the staff was excellent keep up the good work

I saw Dr. Ronneil Aviles for a persistent cough. The first appointment he prescribed a steroid saying it should work. I was a little skeptical because he asked a lot of questions and gave answers out loud that were really contradictory. It really sounded like he had no idea what to prescribe and was completely guessing. I think that was the case because the medicine did nothing for me. I called after a week to see if I should come back in or if it was as simple as refilling the medication. It took almost 2 full days before I could even get on the phone with him, and when I finally got angry with the receptionist, he called right back. Discussing the issue was a complete waste of time. He said at least 5 times the steroid should have worked and had no other feedback or suggestions. Then he asked how I'd like to proceed! I'm not a doctor, I was asking for expert advice, which he did not have. He eventually prescribed a super expensive inhaler that also did nothing and sent me wandering the pharmacy for a different brand of allergy medication than I was already using. My appointment was a complete waste of time and money.

I was in a motorcycle accident and suffered a knee dislocation and a ton of road rash. When I got there via ambulance the Dr was fairly nice. The nurses were a nightmare. I had reset my knee on the way there so they just sent me for x-rays. The female technician asked me to push myself onto the table using my dislocated knee. I told her no and she groaned and insisted. There was a loud pop accompanied by excruciating pain. A man came in and helped me and after the xray I was back to my room. Another nurse came in and told me she was going to clean my road rash. I did not receive anything for the pain I was in. She soaked a ton of gauze in alcohol and carelessly slapped them onto my wounds. I was screaming in pain when the Dr came in and gave me my first dose of pain killers while the nurse glared at me while scrubbing the asphalt and dirt out of the holes in my knees. She ignored the road rash on my arm and up sides but luckily those have healed without infection. My last punishment from the nursing staff is when she handed me crutches and showed me the door. They were kind enough to tell us how to exit the building but I was perplexed that I couldn't use a wheelchair just to get us calmly to the front of the hospital! It was a very long hop to the front door and nurses passed us with wheelchairs. Halfway down the hall my knee popped again and my husband had to help me to a bench. Not one single nurse offered help during this time. The icing on the cake was when we finally reached the front door the nurse who scrapped my wounds stood behind me with a wheelchair and let out a loud groan when I didn't get out of her way fast enough. This is the worst hospital I have ever had the misfortune of visiting and I wouldn't send my worst enemy here. I went through a traumatic accident that has required knee surgeries and months of physical therapy and the people here felt I needed to be punished immediately after an accident. When I got my bill it literally says therapeutic services provided!!! This hell hole is all about the money and they clearly don't care about people. Find an Abbot or Allina facility for your healthcare needs!

Balu Samba

Regard billing issues. These people will charge for Preventive care. The same service won't be charged by other hospitals.

T

The worst!

Abigail Hendry

Competent and compassionate techs treat you like a human being, excellent people in records management turn things around quickly, helpful reps in billing treat you like a paying customer. I am fortunate to have a wide open network & I choose North Memorial for great care and a seamless experience.

I went in to the er for mental health crisis and left a day later with pink eye! Do not go to this hospital. They did nothing to help with my mental health and gave me the gift of pink eye. That tells me that their rooms and beds are not clean. Talking with lawyers now because I can't return to my chef position while infected. Thanks for absolutely NOTHING north memorial.

I went to North Memorial ER ( Robbinsdale) on Monday morning. Experiencing dental pain due to a botched extraction of a molar. In addition, had shortness of breath, blood pressure was 186/90, had other issues going on near my gallbladder. Waited nearly four hours to be seen. Dr. Polar, announced herself very begrudgingly. She then looked at my chart and said your on a lot of medication what's your problem. Firstly she treated me terrible because of being uninsured and than treated me as a drug addict and I quote she said what's this chronic pain all about in your chart. I'm treating you for dental issues we don't give pain medication for dental. Secondly, I have gallbladder issues and I never asked her for any pain medication. She was so aloof and just wanted me moved on. The level of care from that MD was horrible. It's Thursday morning now and I feel worse than I did on Monday. Pain in my arms, neck, and jaw area. Tylenol, and Aleve are not helping, shortness of breath, very bad indigestion and omeprazole isn't helping. Haven't slept for five days, and nights. I've just read in Web MD that heart attacks can begin a month before it happens. Made an appointment for 9:50 this A. Your staff shouldn't treat some as drug seekers that's so unfair since the medical profession is just to blame for the epidemic. Lastly, the RN was very concerned about my BP still being high, and told her and she said "oh thats ok it runs high in the ER. If you think your patients are drug addicts seeking pain medication; than the medical arena they're the pushers. Experimenting with patients for years prescribing relief with pain medication and than when Minnesota had a polarizing event when Prince died suddenly because of an overdose you began to take people off their relief. “Don't judge me unless you've walked in my shoes”. Below is an article from USA today dated April 25, 2019 titled: Feds issue new warning to doctors: Don't skimp too much on opioid pain pills. Doctors are misusing 2016 opioid pain medication guidelines, federal officials said Wednesday, a clear response to increasing complaints from chronic pain patients who say they are the victims of an overreaction to the opioid crisis. The new guidelines, published in the New England Journal of Medicine, was the latest federal acknowledgement that many physicians' responses to the opioid crisis went too far. Above are extracts from the articles in USA today and JAMA written by the CDC. My suffering continues.

Only met like one good person here. The other kids think it's okay to be condescending. Hopefully they learn what it's like. Also the sheriff there is a joke. Has no idea of any law and doesn't want to figure out problems with the staff. This place should close.

Xia Chang

Really nice staff, just slow getting a room, but what can’t you say it’s the only one in Minneapolis with good parking and everything possible health treatment big or small in one place.

Dawn Rammer

My dad has been hospitalized there twice in the last month and I have been so amazed and grateful for the care he has gotten. I have yet to have a single bad experience with any of the staff. Keep up the great work!

May Xiong

North memorial has always been my go to hospital. I've had both my kids there with the same delivery nurse. They've really made me feel better and never belittled me. Stayed in the hospital for about 3 days with my son and they've treated not just him, but me as someone of importance. I wouldn't know where else to go. The downfall of things are just the small rooms. Other than that, room service, doctors on duty, nurses and NAs are always friendly! It's rare to find one that belittles you.

stephen weah

Worst hospital ever, this place is a death trap to say the least. I Brought my girlfriend at 10:30 pm who was suffering for a server tooth pain & they made us wait for like 3 hours and a half, Never coming here again. I feel so sorry for people who have to come there occasionally

Jack White

II won't go here at all any more, however my wife goes there and sees Dr. Stenzel Taynton and loves her, she says she is a 10 on prevenitive care. However she is a Cancer Survivor and won't even attempt to go there for her flu as her experience to even set up an appointment is horrible. It is time for her check up and she tried for 3 days to make an appointment with the Cancer Center and the phone rang 15 times and never went to voice mail. 3 times, 3 different days.

My dad has had numerous visits/stays to North over the last 2 month. Each time was for something different and unrelated. The staff at North have been very nice, and supportive with my dad. I was spending a lot of with him while admitted and had to try out the cafeteria. Didn’t know what to try, so I ordered what the nurse ahead of me ordered. Well dad liked the hospital food (not the herb pork chop tho) & I actually enjoyed the cafeteria food. I had the buffalo chicken wrap at the sandwich bar and didn’t try anything else it was so good (posted a pic) I appreciate all the staff at North Memorial has done for my dad. Thank you, Steve Woods I do have words for staff at Saint Therese (TCU) on the 4th floor, but I remember what my mom taught me so I will hold my tongue(same building as north but different management & staff)

On Sep. 16 2014, I was biking from work to home. I was hit by a vehicle which ran away. I was badly injured. The police and North memorial emergency vehicle came to scene. After I sit on the street for a while, I felt not so bad and want to call my friend to send to hospital. But I was told if I did not get on their vehicle, they will force me to go. I was scared after they said they will use force. While I was on the emergency vehicle, they did not do anything. They even did not give me a blanket. They did not try to clean my wounds. After I got to hospital, I was left over there without anybody to take care of me for almost one hour. Because of biking, my cloth was wet, hospital personnel let me laying there without a blanket. I was caught a very bad cold after I get home. They did not much things, but they send me a lot of bills. Because of their bad service, I felt they does not deserve these bills. They did not cure my wounds, because of their careless service, they let me catch a bad cold. My mental and body were hurt by their service.

Horrible horrible horrible horrible care. Went into the ER wanted to see a doctor however the nurses decided to run expensive tests on me without me even seeing a doctor. Spoke to one of the patient care reps who basically did nothing. She first said that nurses should not be deciding what test should be done and then when I talk to her the second time after they concluded that the correct action was taken she told me that nurses were able to make those decisions. I was shocked by the decision so I called to try to talk to the president of the hospital and the patient care rep called me and said that she is speaking on behalf of the president of the hospital and he did not want to speak with me. She claims he reviewed my records and concluded that the correct action was taken. However now looking at more reviews about this hospital seems like the same thing is happening about them ordering expensive tests and then expecting insurance companies and patience to pay for them!

I wish I could rate this lower to be perfectly honest. My grandmother came in about a year ago for her lungs, the did and X-ray on her and saw a shadow of a tumor. They told us but didn’t offer any help but, “we’ll keep an eye on it”, they didn’t. The tumor has grown and my grandma has been given DAYS left to live. Shame on you.

My wife had a colonoscopy at North Memorial in April 2018. She was injured during the procedure. She spent five months trying to find answers. North Memorial denied any connection between her pain and inability to eat and the colonoscopy. Finally, the University of Minnesota team of specialists found that her pancreas was leaking for five months due to a perforation during the colonoscopy. She was very ill. The chief gastroenterologist at the University of Minnesota told me that he has no confidence in North Memorial. He said that North Memorial is struggling financially. He also commented on the quality of the doctors as well, which I won't repeat here. When I brought my wife to the ER at North Memorial, she was very sick. The doctor said she was constipated and sent us on our way. How does a person who has consumed no food for ten weeks get constipated? I would strongly suggest you look elsewhere if you're suffering anything more than a cough or a minor cut. It's pathetic that healthcare has deteriorated to this degree. When a hospital is more concerned about their financial situation than the welfare of the patient; When a hospital will misdiagnose a patient rather than acknowledge that the patient was injured in their facility, healthcare is no longer their objective. This attitude starts with the president of the hospital. As for the Patient Representative who responds to these reviews, it's just a song and dance. Their role is damage control. They blatantly lied to me as to the misdiagnosis and the botched colonoscopy. They can't afford malpractice suits. I suggest that you contact Robin's Kaplan law firm if you believe you've been injured as a result of the treatment you received at North Memorial.

DISGUSTING behavior by so-called "professionals" at North Memorial Robbinsdale -- Social worker who is responsible for setting up temporary care for patients after amputation surgery is incredibly rude, unprofessional, and lazy -- she is almost criminal in her behavior. And she is 100% protected by NM and its hospitalists like Dr. Ali. They had no problem with this female social worker threatening and intimidating a vulnerable senior who just had a second foot amputated and was alone, trapped in a hospital bed in a corner room. Seeing all the complaints online, I am not surprised. You should be ashamed of treating anyone -- especially seniors -- this way!

ahmadou kassama

This is the worst hospital i have ever been to, the first time I went there I found only one lady at the ER and I waited for two good hours and left their alarm on the chair and left for home. Today I brought my mom after a referral from north memorial in maple Grove to this hospital since 1:30am now is 4:19am this people call only three patients and we still waiting, then I decided to go to desk to asked if they didn’t forgot about my mum because we have been here for three good hours. The only nonsense that came from her mouth was you guys are very lucky here the wait time is between 4 to 5 hours . The administration really need to work on something. Look at their reviews is very bad.

Ariana Engle

The number 1 worst hospital I have ever been to. I was transferred here and the nurses were horrible. My IV was not working (it hurt) and my nurse (mid 40s) told me she does not do IVs and has not her whole career. I sat with that painful iv in my arm for over 2 hours before someone changed it. The next nurse was rude and would not tell me what was going on and why I couldn't have anything for my pain or any food. They ended up doing an endoscopy and told me my stomach lining was eroded (did not explain that) and sent me on my way. Yay they have me an answer, but I'm pretty sure that was only a small part of my pain. They did nothing else. They did nothing to help and they were horrible. I already talked to a patient advocate and it is pointless. They did nothing. I spoke to them while I was sobbing in my hospital room about the poor care. They did nothing.

Emergency Doctor Doctor Katie Vogt Was Amazing Never meet a Emergency Doctor who was Caring and Knowledgable and went above and beyond .Rare doctor .We need alot more Doctors like her. Thank you For helping Our Son with Complicated Medical History. You are a Huge Blessing.

If people would STOP using the er as a doctor's office the wait times wouldn't be so bad! U have a bladder infection? Go to urgent care! Are you kidding me!?!?! I have been here several times and have almost always had great treatment.

Kia Vue

By far the worst hospital I have been too. I took my father to the emergency room, by the time my father and I meet the doctor, who was on duty for the weekend. She was rude and unprofessional because the whole time explaining about why my father was there, she basically ignore what my father and I was saying and started interrupting us. She pretty much imply as though she know best, so she will be the one talking.

lolamae kitty

I was a patient on 7 North, and I have never seen more incompetent nurses. I could hear them at the nurses desk talking all night. They never seemed to want to help me or other patients. Forget about patient confidentiality! One of the charge nurses told me about another patient! They do t seem to like their jobs that’s for sure! I HATE this hospital! Avoid this place if you want someone to actually care!

Sharon Dean

Very nice Doctors and nurses but not very sanitary they had a family in the ER room they moved them out and tried moving my daughter into it without cleaning it we watched the family walk out then 2 min later told my daughter to go in there

On November 13th, 2017, I went to the ER for pain in my sides. I have never had any issue with my heart before that awful visit to the ER. I was given a couple of injections prescribed by: Jared B. Jones. Then, I was pushed to go through extensive tests to check on my heart. All results showed I didn't have any problem with my heart. I left the ER 13 hours later. The next day I started noticing that the injections and medicine prescribed to me caused palpitations: heavy beating heart. I spoke with Patients Relations and other departments. Then, I escalated the issue to the President, Jeff Wicklander who was very unhelpful. It is clear that this hospital cares about MONEY, and they don't care about their patients. In my humble opinion, the physicians were mediocre at best and didn't know what the heck they are talking about. This hospital screwed me over and now I am living in a nightmare. Do your self a favor, stay away from North Memorial Hospital. I'll never go back again.

My daughter in law was air lifted to Memorial on Sept 11 2016. She is getting moved out of ICU today!! Cant say enough good about this Hospital. Everyone from the Security to the Nursing,Emergency room Doctors and Trauma Doctors. EVERYONE has been great. Thank you so much for saving her life and helping my son with everything he has needed.

Dan Henry

I have only been to North Memorial once and I couldn't say enough great things about the whole experience. I was only there for a total of ~5 hours as I was having outpatient surgery but from the days prior to the surgery - when speaking with pre-registration and nursing personnel - to the moment I was wheeled out the doors I had the pleasure of being treated by professional, experienced and compassionate people every step of the way. I mean it quite literally when I say that I have not one negative aspect of my experience with North Memorial to declare. In reading some of the other reviews that have been published I am confused as to how anyone could have had anything other than a great experience at this facility. While I can only base my opinion on one experience I can say truthfully I would recommend North Memorial to anyone in need of surgical care.

Punked Dified

I had an appendectomy that came with further complications during recovery. My experience here really depends on the nurse who is on the job. Some are the nicest and most thoughtful trying not to wake you up while you sleep and always checking up on you. Others can be a real pain ranging from giving attitude to following doctors order like putting in a ng tube without myself being mentally prepared and was drowning trying to swallow the tube. All in all they've helped me recover.

Elizabeth Gonzalez

Had my son 11-30-15 I enjoyed my stayed doctors, nurses very professional and friendly they make you feel they care and not just another patient on their list... wonderful and amazing experience and best doctors !!! I recommend this hospital to other mothers expecting !!!

sante elaine

all u guys in i c u thank you for taking and care ing for my loving boy friend

marissa inbody

There was only one nurse here that made a difference The nurses and doctors in the emergency Room were absolutely horrid and disrespectful it was the same way on my ambulance ride I have never ever experienced such rude un caring on thoughtful people. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE!

Thoj Xiong

Would've gave negative review but there isn't. My Dad died here, they took half a day to get him a room and then took a whole week to diagnose a fungal infection. He died a month later in the hospital after being moved to 3 different rooms. This place is a death trap for those critically ill.

Nebula Nightshade

I came in with severe issues, after calling 911, and the ambulance refusing to take me where I chose to go, and am usually seen at, we get there, brought into waiting room because every room was supposedly full. I did not receive a pager, they told me that they were going to try and get me the first room that opened up. They did an EKG, and the the nurses were SUPER RUDE! Not patient at all. I was pushed onto the gurney, and yelled at to hold still. No care at all. The ambulance people put me into a wheel chair, but the nurses forced me to walk even though I had a hard time and barely could and kept treating me like I was faking. I was not allowed to sit in a wheelchair at all. They grabed it and walked away. Slowly by myself, walked to the waiting room. I noticed 2 people go back that looked just fine and healthy. After a half hour I go up to the desk, and they yelled at me and treated me like an inconvenience. They put my chart in the way back of the line. And as people came in, (as they sat down were all chummy and giggly) they kept pushing me back further I saw. Supposedly if they were that full then why were they accepting a bunch of ambulances?? And also making the waiting room people suffer? After 4 hours waiting and verbal abuse by the nurses, (not naming on here but I will be with a patient rep) I told them I was sick and tired of the abuse and that I was walking out basically. I was just sitting on the bench where they could see me, but the one nurse in particular took me off the list and wasted no time doing so. Within minutes magically a bunch of rooms opened up. I told her I did not even leave you saw me sitting there. She gave me a evil smirk and told me that I said I was leaving the premises, which I did not leave... and if I wish to be seen I have have to re register and wait prob another couple hours. No thanks. I'm never EVER coming back here. I would rather die...

jake mask

This was the most horrible hospital I've ever been to. I came in the emergency room and had to wait OVER 2 1/2 hours in the waiting room to be called, most other people just got up and left. Then when finally called they did a poor job diagnosising me and actually misdiagnosed my sickness. Now a day later I'm going to park niccolet to get treated for strep throat. all these people want is your money, they don't care about treatment

Pa Yang

Took my son in for breathing issue, they got him admitted right away but seemed like they really didn't know what they were doing. Was told that they'll monitor my son and do xray, which I never got the results for, and then all of sudden a nurse came and told us they're getting a room ready and my son will need to stay over night. That's when doctors and nurse kept coming in and telling different story. Doc said my son was good and we can go home. The nurse then will come in and say my son is not well and we need to stay. My son was fine after getting some shots and oxygen mask but they insisted we stayed overnight. My son seems well now after 16hrs in the hospital already. They took 1hr to get us discharged, then a nurse didn't know how to write a excuse note for me for work. Then they didn't cut off my sons security cord which caused the alarm to go off. The nurse at the receptionist who didn't know how to write an excuse letter, took forever for discharge paper, then said she don't know how to get the security tag off my son. I've been to this hospital multiple time and all they seem to want is money, and don't care about what the patient really came in for. My son came in for a breathing issue and they start counting his mosquitoes bites instead. This may be the last time I go here for any medical reason.

It a great Hospital and good doctor .I been going there for a long time

Concerned Person

I was severely injured in an accident and transported to this hospital via ambulance. The ER staff diagnosed the obvious (broken bones) but my serious injuries went undiagnosed even though I voiced my complaints and displayed the symptoms of certain injuries. I continued to experience pain and problems for months. I sought another opinion with a provider outside of the North Memorial Health Care system. The new doctor requested an imaging test and discovered I had serious injuries requiring surgery. Needless to say, I had my surgery and aftercare someplace other than North Memorial. Edited 5/3: No, I will not call a patient representative. I am so disgusted with this hospital. It's been one screw up after another. Patients are people and the actions or inactions of the staff have real consequences, which include ruining people's lives. Also, keep your billing people out of patient's rooms when they're trying to get dressed. I was standing in only my socks and underwear when the hospital collections women barged into my room with a clipboard telling me to sign a document guaranteeing payment. I would prefer that an office worker not have me sign paperwork while I’m almost nude.

Shaina Wilburn

Because if it’s location I use North Memorial, but they’re definitely not “top of the line”. If you’re looking for a doctor or professional who cares & is genuinely interested in resolving whatever brings you to the hospital, do not go to North Memorial. The probability that you’ll leave satisfied is very low. The end.

Ingrid Zaharris

Good experience except for one particular nurse who stabbed my with the needle for IV/blood draw. I've had various procedures and tests done over the years and never had anything close to this bad. She did no searching for veins. I have fair skins and deep veins and you're lucky to hit one. Yeah, she did get a vein but probably a lot of tissue, too. It hurt! I have no fear of needles and you know something is wrong when it hurts. She knew it, too, by my face, and said absolutely nothing. When I was discharged, another nurse took the IV out and but a small bandage on it but about 5 minutes later I realized blood was gushing out of my arm and all down the halfway, onto my clothes, my purse, and hospital furniture. Again, never had an issue like these. I don't take blood thinners and I don't have hemophilia. Usually I put some pressure on the area and it stops bleeding almost instantly and all I need it a bandaid. Nope, not this time. All goes back to the needle stick (or stab in my case).

Ryan Mann

This review is for the Imaging and Outpatient Center. I scheduled an MRI the day before and they had an opening right at 7am the next day, so that worked out perfect for my work schedule. I was surprised they could get me in so quickly. It also helped that I had a referral from another N. Memorial Clinic in Plymouth, so they had all my information and I barely had to wait at all. My nurse and student assistant were courteous and very pleasant. I was in and out of there in about 30 minutes.

Joe Peterson

I have been there more times than I care to remember. With problems ranging from a brain tumor to a heart valve replacement. To the most recent for 7 broken ribs. I found the nurses to be incredible. The surgeons in my opinion are second to none. Had it not been for them I'm sure I would not be alive to write this. The ER was outstanding. The only complaint I have is the bedside manor of a few doctors making rounds. Its a shame they can be in the position they are in and have such a small amount of compassion, if any at all. But as is so often the bad can really make things horrible for the good.. The one dr I have in mind made me feel like I should be apologzing for.being there. Hard to believe he gets by with that attitude.

Amy Holden

What a horrible ER. Wow 2 hours waiting and still don't get in to be seen, after getting my face smashed into my steering wheel. I Decided not to take the ambulance after being hit and run rear ended while Ubering because I wanted to be a good Samaritan and take my Uber ride home and then check myself in, considering my limbs weren't falling off or anything but still. I THINK head and neck injuries from whip lash and a bloody nose and pain all over my face n jaw with a brief loss of continuous and dizzyness constitutes for some kind of an Emergency. Especially when the waiting room is filled with cold patients. However, deff didn't need the insult to injury by the short, snotty staff. Ugh. What a joke. I Left. Never again. Don't go here!

my 84 year old mother and surgery. so she wakes up at night and had to go to bathroom. it took them 30 minutes to respond. this is not good. thanks to the person in charge. I hope you correct this problem.

I was admitted this past weekend due to breaking my ankle and I have to say that I have never been treated so well at a hospital in my life. I entered into the emergency room where I was treated almost immediately. Danaca was my nurse in the er and she was amazing. She made sure that I was comfortable and kept checking on me to make sure I was ok. I was then moved to the w6 floor where Erin and Megan were my nurses and they both were so incredibly amazing to me. I was in so much pain and didn't want to be there but they made sure I was to keep checking on me and making sure I was good. I'm tetrifite to go to hospitals but because of them I had a wonderful experience. Thank you so mich Erin, Megan and Danaca. You ladies are absolutely incredible and I appreciate everything you did for me.

Sandra Swanson

Terrible experience. Though we've had North Memorial as our provider over the past 15 years I was very disappointed at some of the care we received or the lack of. Coming in from the emergency room at 6pm my grandfather in law had some breathing problems earlier that night. They performed something to look at the fluid retention in his lungs and also some blood work. Then a pharmacist came in an looked at his medications, the ER doctor without consulting started prescribing different medications that's fine but one nurse gave some medications of lasix and it was all that was needed and another nurse came in 10 minutes later to give it again. I'm glad it was never given because I questioned everything. Then as we were about to get discharged up to the floors I had a simple request that we not be placed on a floor or room with the number 4 in it. Very culturally taboo, one of the nurses went to check with the personnel who handles rooms. An ER MD stopped the nurse and asked her what's going on, she told her about our cultural reason and he didn't even care to look but with the audacity to say right away we don't do that here. (First I'm thinking you don't schedule the beds, what if there is a room open you wouldn't know. Lastly, you care for patients you're a doctor our health, culture and well-being should be at your most concern.) I like NM, but this MD was just so insensitive. I said i was willing to wait as well. Not the place for my family anymore.

Quintina Kind

I waited in the waiting room for 4 hours with internal bleeding.

My husband was life flighted to this Hospital. The staff there was amazing in the ICU and in the ICU unit on the 6th floor. They took good care of him and of me while I was there with him. I would not leave his side and they respected that, besides he wouldn't let me out of his sight. This Hospital is top notch in my book. Thanks for the awesome job you do North Memorial Hospital.

From entrance to exit - from security guard at the front entrance to the nurses/doctors/interns that helped me during my visit... great work, great people.

Came to North Memorial via air ambulance late at night. I was treated very quickly and efficiently. ALL staff I encountered were friendly and professional from the time I arrived on Sunday to when I left on Monday. If I could give my visit six stars, I would.

Niki Wilson

I hated this place. If you want to end the stigma start here. Everyone makes you very uncomfortable there are to guids to go by you are at the mercy of each individual employed here. Avoid this hospital there are so many other ones!!!

Kathy Brunsberg

Great experience for inexpected surgery. Doctor and nursing staff were fantastic!

Hank Hill

Really ghetto hospital this guy named John D will give you a ambulance ride even tho you refuse treatment I’m going to sue this hospital because now I have to pay a bill I can’t afford because of John D. Never go here these people treat you bad and will not let you use the bathroom. I wish I could give this ghetto hospital 0 stars.

Janice L. Sullivan

I would like to know if you will be helping fix me after the large predizone overdose you gave me Oct-Nov. 2015 and then added to it 2 more times, I now have briddle bone in back and through a lot in my body, I lost almost all teeth from inside out that I was told were ok, yes the nurses and dr. Have verified..

Kristin M. Schaefer, MD is the worst doctor I've ever had in my 39 years alive! Misdiagnosed me put incorrect information on my chart! Said I was fine and had some horribly wrong things to say and the hospital nurses were very nice. She on the other hand was rude, wrong and my regular doctor did the correct lab work and figured out the real cause of my health issues! Never again will I go to North!!

North memorial misdiagnosed me, never had my medical history correct, didn’t address my issues and gave me an overdose diagnosis with no drugs in my system or gave me any treatment for an overdose (no medications to reverse an overdose, stomach wasn’t pumped nor charcoal treatment). There are plenty of tests that can detect all medications. They refused to tell me what I supposedly overdosed on or had in my system. I have all records from the 6 times I was there and nothing showed up. As a result of their incompetence I lost my child and my life as I knew it, they contacted CPS because my 17 year old was home alone and convinced him I was a drug addict and to move out. If they would have done any sort of basic medical treatment they would have found out other doctors had over medicated me with medications for nothing I had. All “off label” prescriptions that might treat this or that and the medications shouldn’t have been prescribed together and I had no reason to be on most of those meds. Instead of treatment the 6th time there they forced me into the psych ward (probably to make it look like I was crazy so I couldn’t sue which isn’t something I’ve ever done YET) but wasn’t given a risk to myself or others nor a suicide risk. After my last time there I stopped taking the 9 medications and was down to 2 which I should only have been on in the first place. They didn’t even have a neck surgery I had at their hospital in my medical history. They released me 5 times when I was still confused, disoriented. and have no memory of the stay. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL UNLESS YOU WANT TO DIE OR HAVE THEM RUIN YOUR LIFE. After 2 years I still haven’t been able to keep a job, have a relationship with my son and am now homeless but doctors never take responsibility. I take responsibility for trusting professionals but since the medications side effects made it impossible to figure out what was causing the problems. In the past I knew when meds didn’t work and stopped them. This review may sound crazy or I might sound crazy but truth and treatment was crazy

Yogeata Samkarran

They didn’t even try to save my uncle. I could tell the doctor was lying. While we were in the reflecting room, there was a patient screaming for help. We told 4 workers. They all said they would let a nurse know. No nurse showed up. We were there for 7 hours and nobody came to help this lady. I would give them a 0 star.

L T

My husband was hospitalized in the cardiac unit. All the people we came across from the hospital were very professional, caring, and compassionate. We are extremely thankful to all of them.

Hector Juarez

They did not care about my mental health. I was simply another paycheck to them. I was treated so poorly and I will never go back there even if my life depended on it.

Christine Barnum

Worst experience had broken pelvic in 5 areas let them know I was not able to use crutches or Walker have tried in past a few times. Was there 9 days and hardly any physical therapy total of one hour whole stay and released to house even though it was said I'd be going to rehab. Never spoke to a Dr. None of the team communicated with each other vitals done right next to each other even thou chh I said someone was just here doing this. No communication was to give a number of level of pa okn when. Someone entered room. Washed down only one time after peeing on self numerous times. Kept medicating me every check in and I slept. All that was accomplished. After being released was told to call if any concerns I called along with girlfriend 5 times and left messages still no call back. I was in enormous pain and stuck in a position. With fever and numbness when. Explained to li e person they transferred to machine no call back. When. I made decisions. To never deal with them again and I will get care else where. Have not one good experience staff not polite or answer anything for you. Horrible

Arupita Sanchez

The best care, very awesome service they all have a good heart

Monnie Terry

Anne Wilson

I had a colonoscopy today and had many nurses, aides and others helping me even before the procedure. Dr. Koenig and his nurse were amazing, wonderful people, all the nurses were so nice and so helpful. Since it's not a fun thing to do, having all these and talented people there to help me through it, it was a very good thing. I'd highly recommend it.

Jay Oblne

Seriously if I could give a 0 star I would. They have an ok staff but it is not worth going to, they care only about their profit than their patients actual happiness and well-being. Everytime I have been here it has been a run around and headache because of their compartmentalized bureaucracy. If you want to see doctors who actually want to help you go almost anywhere else.

Kevin Kile

Excellent care. Excellent nurses! Through 2 hospitalizations for C.diff, the care I received was so helpful and caring.

Jo Ann Marianne

My Dad was brought in by ambulance with AFIB and failing kidneys to ICU. From the second I arrived, his care was superior. Every, EVERY, nurse and aide was amazing. Not just in ICU, but when staying on another floor. They were strong communicators, clearly demonstrated excellence, timely care for my Dad and always with a smile and kind heart. They listened to the small things like his nickname and used it, as this would create a strong connection of support. In comparison to other hospitals around the country, Northern Memorial, Robbinsdale, is the best!!! A very special thank you to an amazing person and Doctor Alam, who made us feel that my Dad was the only patient in the hospital. She is kind and tells you the truth and was empathetic when giving us bad news. My Dad passed after 1 week and a half weeks. One regret I will not have is his hospital stay at Northern Memorial Robbersdale. Many thanks to the leadership who set the tone and standards of care.

Larissa Owen

If I could give it zero I would. They don't invest anytime into actually solving the problem or carrying about you as a human being. I am not suppose to get NSAIDS due to a blood clot that I have and that is what they prescribed me. Doctor didn't take but 2 seconds to tell me had "meds" in for me not fully in the room and quickly shut the door. No room for me to even discuss. When I got the nurse back in there they told me this was this and had nothing but disrespect and attitude. I would not wish this place on anyone. Don't do it.

Alec Werman

I went to North memorial that have a boil lanced been making payments $30 for you $50 off Nan play sa paid for half already I go to make a payment they tell me that they sent it to collection agency I said I can't pay that all at once I said can I make a payment they said no all you can do is pay it in full cuz it's in collection exit so you won't take my money and they said no we can't take your money we needed in full you knowso I can't make $240 so do I go without electricity and I'm on a CPAP machine and I drive for a living soul lose my job at CPAC they won't take $40 out of a hundred some dollars has to be in full and I have no way to pay him so I guess I have to go to collection agency the court and they're going to spend more money on court fees to get lousy 1:40 when I can give him 40 bucks now by

I am so very disappointed in our healthcare system! I was here yesterday with a family meme we struggling with addiction. First problem, they discharged this person with extreme delusions because there blood work was ok. Then, we received papers on where to go in the AM for an assessment to get them into treatment. I quote the crisis worker at the hospital "If you are serious about help there is a place that offers assessments at 5:45am in Minneapolis, first come first serve 5 people a day for walk-ins." This morning we get up to take them, get to the address on the paperwork from said crisis worker at North Memorial and it's the wrong address, get to the right address and they are not open. Look on website and assessments start at 7am! Seriously. I couldn't be more disappointed in our healthcare system! Thanks North Memorial for absolutely nothing!

Beth Epps

My Mother received excellent care from the emergency room staff, ICU staff, 5th floor nursing staff. Just fantastic. Everyone was so caring kind, compassionate. We cannot thank you enough.

Travis Curren

Sat for an hour for a urine test for a new job. The same nurse whom happened to take my test was the one holding the 30 min conversation with her coworker about randomness. BTW I'm the only one here and have been for 30 min now.

Cheryl Lindback

Love this place. My neurologist is there, and I se her every year. Recently, I went in for a colonoscopy. The prep was the absolute worse. The actual procedure was kind of pleasant. The nurses were the best: Erica, Amber, Margo and Renee. The people who saw to my admission were fantastic also. I have to apologize to my doctor (maybe Dr. Parker?), but he was great, too. I consider this my go to hospital.

Ania McDonnell

I went to the ER and the nurses did such a great job taking care of me. All of the staff and the doctor were awesome.

Brittany Lindsey

If I could give zero Stars I would. I was on the floor for 4 hours and I laid there saying help for ten minutes before giving up, I tried to signal to them that I was getting worse and not one nurse came over to check on me it wasn't until I threw my pager across the room and became hysterical that finally somebody came to see me and it was to tell me that I shouldn't behave that way especially with children around (I'm a single mom and don't act that way ever) and I told them I feel like I'm dying on the floor here and nobody is checking on me making sure I'm OK and I'm 10 feet from the nurse's station. On top of it they told me I was the next person to be seen right when I got checked in I saw over 5 people go ahead of me who are able to walk or able to move I couldn't even sit up or move and even told them when I came in I feel like I'm giving birth out my left side. After I was finally seen I was diagnosed with having a kidney infection and having just literally passed a kidney stone and if the kidney stone has passed they would have had to do surgery. If it wasn't for the fact that the Urgent Care was closed I I wouldn't have went into the ER in the first place because unless my doctor says I have to go get operated on I don't want to sit in the ER because they have absolutely no priority they sit there and talk about bullshit while their clients are in the waiting room waiting to be seen and you see people lying on the floor every time I've been there and not one of them bothers to offer a blanket or to check on the patients status or communicate what's going on.

Willie Johnson

Ok its 9:43pm on a Tuesday i got to North Memorial at 4:09pm for sciatica i was in pain when i say pain i mean PAIN with this sciatica i cant sit for more then 3mins tops so yes the car ride was painful and the wait was painful also i stood for around 3hours give or take Waiting to be seen i even laid on the floor....to make a long story short when i waas seen by the doctor he kept saying we dont write prescription for narcotics and he repeated this 3 times i said i want something for the pain im feeling now for standing 3 hours give or take Waiting...now doctors know that the condition i have (sciatica)that the pain can be severe and that the symptoms may get worse with coughing, sneezing, laughing,or prolonged sitting or standing.also bring overweight may worsen symptoms...now how would you feel with this treatment?i got my pain and a bill with nothing no benefit of even going here.I feel scammed i thought i pay for service not advise..From this day forward ill just deal with the pain and drive 30 mins instead of 9mins for health services

Rebekah Dodge

I am very impressed with all the staff that are helping a family member in such a caring, timely manner. It's a beautiful facility, too.

Brianna Skerik

Great Staff who are understanding and patient. very clean hospital as well. wish all hospitals were like this.

Katherine Mullin

When I have been to ER I got pretty immediate help. When I call the Heart clinic, I do get immediate call backs-if not immediate, then soon.

Kyle P. Silvers

When I was here everyone was very professional, friendly, and accommodating. They really took good care of me and made a difficult experience a bit more tolerable.

Emily Cash

If I could give zero stars I would.. I've been sitting here over 4 hours with measles symptoms (there is a measles outbreak currently) and they've been pushing me to the back of the list and calling people to be seen who seem fine. They tell me I am "next" even though they continue to call others up. When I first got here there was probably only 3 people ahead of me and now there is barely anywhere for people to sit and I'm still getting nowhere. I honestly feel they should be staffed better or just shut the hospital down for good. Very tempted to report the hospital to the state for their negligence and sheer ignorance. They do not care about their patients all they want is to get paid and go home. There is a woman whose been sitting here for 2 hours with sharp shooting pain in her uterus and they don't care. This is the WORST hospital in the state of Minnesota. Do not go to North memorial medical center willingly. I highly suggest Abbott Northwestern.
