The brain injury unit (4 West) took great care of my father. They are the best at what they do with behavior modification.

Our daughter has gotten really good care and the staff are all very nice doctors have been out standing. This is a great hospital. Thank you so much for all you do and the good care you give

My father in law was at Bethesda for several weeks. His care was exceptional! The staff was caring and kind. They helped us through a very difficult time. Instead of restraining him they had someone sit by his bed 2 4hrs a day. My father in law passed away and I am so glad we know he was cared for and respected on his final days. Thanks Bethesda!

Please do not bring your love ones to this hospital. The level of care is horrible and a lot of the staff are rude. Average waiting time when calling the nurse is 10-15 minutes. They are not staff appropriately as that is their constant excuses. They claim to specialize in respiratory care but assign multiple floors to only one respiratory therapist. I can't count how many accidents almost happen if it wasn't for one of the family member being their 24/7. I feel bad for the patients that does not have family member to be their advocate. Please DO NOT put your love ones in this hospital. The only thing that is good here is the therapy team. One more thing, they will encourage patients and their family members to reach out to their inhouse advocacy team which is a load of bull if you believe they would help. They are inhouse hired employees to "pretend to side with you". Get out of here!!!

I'm writing this on my mom's account since she's being hospitalized right now. This is probably the worst hospital we ever went to. My mom was in pain in the stomach and it took them at least 10 minutes to respond asking "how can I help you?". We asked for pain reliever pill and we've been waiting for more than 30 minutes, still no presence. My mom tried to endure the pain through time and finally she got the pill.. it took more than an hour just to get a single pill. I also hated the fact that they're slow and not really responsive, claiming they're "busy". The only good part is the therapy, nothing else. I wouldn't reccomend this hospital to your love ones. It's hard watching your love ones suffers.

I was in this hospital for 40 days and I really don't have anything bad to say other than they should do something with their food menu, it never changes and when one is in there that long it gets hard to eat the same things over and over. Other then a couple of my nurse aids that were not into their jobs my car was exceptional I had great overall care and the reason I don't give 5 stars is because nothing is perfect in this world.

My father was here for 2 months on the ventilator rehab unit. Dad would sit for 5 hours without anyone checking on him to reposition and change him when we were there. This is required by state to be completed every 2 hours for patients that cannot do it for themselves. (My sisters and I all work in healthcare in either social work, RN or radiology in hospitals.) My mother was there all day every day, and she also would have to find someone to change and reposition him. Some staff were genuine and caring, but just as many were not. Dad would also have scrapes and bumps on his head and face that could not be explained by the nurse, so injury reports were filed after my mom questioned them. He also had an MRI of his head scheduled, and after they transferred him, found out he didn't have it scheduled. Our Dad seemed to give up and no longer tried to communicate with us. What a drop in care when transferred from a Mayo facility...I would not recommend. We were relieved the day we moved him closer to home to a nursing home that had great caring staff.

I have went there for care right after my car accident and for therapy and they dropped the ball so much and they told me that I would not walk again and to keep working on me would be fraud!because I would not get better! Why would a hospital that is supposed to care for people tell a patient they are a lost cause? ! Taking away all hope is not benefiting anyone!

The doctor and staff are unbelievable. So friendly and informative.

To say it politely this place has ruined my life . From loss of property , money , prescription drugs, and even my wheelchair , “ not to mention almost the loss of my life “, ( giving blood thinners up to the hr of a major surgery ) it is no wonder that this place is up for investigation and cannot keep any decent American speaking staff . It is known to other medical personnel as the Dead hospital, if you don’t believe me try contacting a live person during mon through fri business hrs. I caught the first opportunity out of that dump as you should your loved ones or self before it’s to late . God truly bless you and your health

Treated for PCS (post concussion syndrome). Still had reoccurring symptoms was told that they had no further treatment options and that concussions heal in 3 to 6 months so they don't know how to help me anymore. If you experience a concussion go to an actual Dr not the NP here that I dealt with in their brain injury clinic.

My mother was here for 3 months after having a stroke. This place is the worse hospital ever. Her health went down hill from the time she got there. The nursing staff needs training in all areas. They were horrible to her. She wasn't bathed. She couldn't speak and would yell at her when she tried to mouth words. She was ignored when family asked staff to help her. We were told they would get to her when they got to her. The doctors cursed at me when I questioned their plan of care. Which they would not show me a care plan. They stopped all therapy. She layed there lile a vegetable. I finally got her transfered and she passed away not even an hour after being discharged. One nurse didn't even know she was a diabetic. They gave her meds that she was allergic to. Even after I reminded them it was in her chart she could not have them. Please do not send your love one here. It was a battle to get her out of there. This place should be shut down.

Bethesda gave our family a bad feeling from day one and ended in a nightmare. My dad went to Bethesda for ventilator weaning after a double lung transplant. My mom was there with him all day every day. I will mention that I'm an RN and so am very knowledgeable about what should and shouldn't have been happening in regards to my dad's care. Checks by nurses were only to give medications and he was not assisted with repositioning as often has he should have been. Once he was weaned off of the ventilator, he was moved out to the "step down" unit for continued rehab. He was having trouble sleeping at night. So, the doctor tried a couple of different sleeping medications. The last change she made was too high of a dose for him. The staff at night, both nursing and respiratory therapists, didn't recognize that the confusion he was having was due to lack of oxygen. He was given a small amount of supplemental oxygen and then not checked on again. When my mom came in that next morning, she found my dad had removed his gown in his confusion, was lying naked on his bed with the door wide open, unconscious and in the middle of having a cardiopulmonary arrest with no staff in sight. My mom had to be the one to call the Code Blue to get staff to come running. Do not enter!

Wow,sums it up! I am so grateful for all of the professionals on my sons team that contributed to his extensive recovery.also the kindness they showed my family and myself during this difficult time.

My father was sen there because he had a tracheostomy, and when they moved him out of the special care unit after he was weaned off the ventilator- he went almost 4 days till they cleaned the inner cannula. I am very dissapointed, but not supprised. I am not a doctor, but you sure need to stay on top of things to get care for your loved ones!!

I applied for a job here in the Complex Brain Injury Unit, got an interview and never heard nothing back from them. Not even an email saying they found another candidate. Plus, the lady interviewing me went on and on about how the nurses and staff talk to their patients differently than traditional hospitals and how they are more blunt with the patients and by telling the patients what to do. I knew I didn't want to be a part of this hospital when I left the interview, however, I think I deserve a email with their decision. What a waste of time.

Our experience at Bethesda Hospital was largely positive. While my husband was a patient there for just under two months, I found the nurses, aides, and therapists to be extremely pleasant, caring, and helpful.

Terrible care, workers are not nice to deal with. Completely unsanitary. My bathroom had tiles falling off the wall with blood spewing out of them! NEVER EVER COME TO THIS LANDFILL!!!!!!

My grandfather was transferred here to work into the transition home after a total laryngectomy. This left him with a trach and the inability to speak. A MAJOR and IMPORTANT part of the hospital staffs job is to educate their patients on how to live at home and continue to live their lives to the highest quality possible given their new situation. My grandma nor my grandpa were given ANY education prior to discharge. Although my grandma was persistent and involved, she was taught NOTHING. Everything she learned was from hovering over the R/T's shoulder and constantly asking questions. Mind you, she has ZERO health care experience, so education is especially important in this case. Trach care is a sterile procedure, and until I showed up on the day before discharge and demanded someone teach them SOMETHING, they had learned NOTHING. This is absolutely unacceptable. I asked the R/T about it and she stated it had been in the chart ordered, and if they weren't teaching then it was a mistake. This type of behavior is unacceptable, and while the rest of the care by the nurses was fine, and all of his needs were being met, it should be a team effort to ensure your patient is ready for discharge. This was not done. Their excuse for not educating was that the majority of their patients are discharged to another care facility. This statement was IRRELEVANT because every patient is different, and my grandma had stated to multiple staff that he was coming home. As a Registered Nurse, I am incredibly disappointed in this facility and their blatant neglect.

If I could give this place a zero then I would, Terrible hospital! They are under investigation for Mal practice and patient misconduct. I have heard of people being left soiled for hours and left in chairs for 5 hours. DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL, my grandfather has been removed immediately and if you care about your loved ones do the same.

My 51 year old brother had a long & complicated situation that required lengthy stays at Bethesda & periodic trips to the hospital. Our family can't say enough positive about the overall care given to him at Bethesda. Great team of health care professionals on all levels. They also didn't mind our frequent family support & visits nor our input & many questions. Thank you for all you did to help him now be able to go to the next level of transitional care. We appreciate it!

In Minnesota there isn't a lot of choice for an ltach. It shows because the older facility of Bathesda has seemed under constant repair and breakdowns. At first it seemed awful, cries for help, nurses either sitting around a station or not around at all. But they did do exactly what they needed to for those who needed it! The nurses sitting around were those who are watching for life threatening problems. The other staff were helping patients. The staff remember patients and visitors alike. After a few weeks I was greeted by name by many staff. My father had cardiac arrest for 30 min. Bathesda advocated for my father to insurance. Worked with him sometimes hourly for days. He now walks, talks and can easily beat me at a game of pool in Bathesda's family room. His recovery took 3 months. You'll have to be patient with Bathesda, but they do what is right for those under their care in a friendly and understanding way.

My father in law received good care here. It is different than the ICU he was transferred from so the first few days seemed rough because it is not staffed like an ICU. The majority of the staff were friendly and caring. The physicians kept us up to date and even caught something that the U of M had missed. The therapy department is awesome and worked very hard to give him the best chance at regaining independence. The RTs were great too and weaned him off the vent and got him talking. Unfortunately the trach tube ended up being permanent. My mother in law wanted to take him home so the staff had to teach her and his children how to do all his trach cares, and suctioning. Also learned how to transfer from PT and all other cares from nursing. They went over everything and made sure we were comfortable before discharge home.. He is now at home and fairly independent, able to spend time with family and even went to a Vikings game at the new stadium!

The best care ever!!

My dad was sent to Bethesda from Regions Hospital for after care and therapy. I saw my dad the day after he arrived at Bethesda, his health was down from when he was as Regions. They had him on a 24hr BiPap system, Region had gotten him off of that. He was no longer responsive. 2 Days later my sister went to see him and found his blood pressure was to high, no one had given him his blood pressure medications that day. During her visit she became aware that he had soiled himself. She requested aid 3 times and no one ever came to clean him up. That was over a 2 hour period. He not getting the simple therapy he need just to get off of the BiPap. The family mounted up and force Bethesda to return him to a real hospital before it was to late and he would never recover. Do not bring your family or loved ones to this place, the care they provide is below standards.
