REVIEWS OF Fairview Southdale Hospital IN Minnesota

Liz Crandall

My mother was brought to Fairview Southdale ER with a history of stroke and seizure - experiencing terrible back pains, numbness and radiating pain throughout her body. She was misdiagnosed with minimal testing (one XRay, no CT or MRI) and rushed out of the ER even though she could not even walk and hadn't been able to move from her couch for days, given pain meds and told she should probably try Physical Therapy. When things worsened over the next day and a half we took her to Methodist Hospital, who properly tested and diagnosed her as well as informed me she would have been dead within the week if she hadn't been properly cared for. She still may not make it. Thanks a lot Fairview... will never bring anyone I care about to this facility again. *Update, after emergency surgery, 2 weeks in Methodist ICU, and 6 weeks in a Transitional Care Unit for her severe (undiagnosed at Fairview) medical condition she is alive and well - so glad she was properly taken care of at a different hospital.

They've double charged me for every service. Sleazy money grubbers. Stay away unless you want their billing department to destroy your health. As a follow up, they charge $300 for soap and water. Seriously, if you value your health, don't go here. Worst hospital ever

Taylor Hentges

The staff was so nice to me! They were kind enough to explain every little detail and never made me feel scared about my first surgery. From the nurses to the anesthesiologist, all the way to the doctor I was treated with respect and kindness. I will be back here for all of my medical needs. I’m so happy I chose this place for my first surgery.

Stewart Harvath

Lots of waiting, but my issue was resolved, thanks!

Maybe its just how things are now w/ cuts in spending, however after sitting in a cold air conditoned room for close to four hours, one would expect an offer of water or something?! Coffee would have been wonderful, a warm blanket, even an extra pillow. The nurse was cold and unfriendly, the primary doctor was informative yet we had to wait two hours longer than told us for an ambulance transport. The attending physician was very friendly and helpful. We came here because 35 -W was closed and it was closer, but next time we'll head straight to Fairview University Riverside Hosp. We've always had positive experiences there. Over all, disappointed with the customer care given at Fairview Southdale. And also how unfriendly and unhelpful the nursing staff were.

I have worked for Fairview for about 12 years now and love almost every day.

Ronald Robinson

Truly amazing staff of doctors and nurses. Ended up in ER during a business trip which resulted in unexpected surgery and an overnight stay. The attention to both myself and family members was unbelievable. I felt very secure, and in great hands with all of the staff who helped me. Terrific job! You have to love the Midwest work ethic and compassion shown to people! Thanks guys!

Christina Owen

The hospital is beautifully designed/decorated and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful.

My wife had surgery in the same day unit this week. Her surgery went fine but they really fell down keeping me informed of her status. Didn't give me an opportunity to meet with the doc or anesthetist before surgery. The surgery took an hour and then the doc met with me. Rather than being permitted to be with my wife in recovery I was told to go back to the waiting room. I could see on the monitor she had been in recovery for about two hours and then was ready for discharge, but still nobody bothered to call for me. The staff in the waiting room had left for the day. I had to call the switchboard and asked to be transferred to same day surgery. It was only then they had me escorted to my wife where it appeared she was already receiving discharge instructions.

Literally the worst hospital I've ever had the misfortune of knowing. They turned my elderly mother into the street at 11pm when it was negative 15 out and I had to bundle up two children under two and "rescue her".

This is actually for the clinic offices of 6545 France Avenue South next door. It houses a lot of areas for Fairview. DO NOT GO THERE. They are constructing the whole lot. There are about 200 parking spaces available. Half of those are for Senior parking. They do have free valet parking but that's only good if you know ahead of time to use them and clean out your car of all valuables. I did stop to ask the valet a question and there were very short tempered and rude. No way I was going to leave my car with them. What made it worse, the few spots they had available for you were being used by the Valet to park. If you need to go to any of these clinics, go somewhere else. You might have to drive further but you'll get there a whole lot faster. It took me over an hour to park.

My mother was admitted to the emergency room today because of excruciating pain from foot/ankle surgery yesterday morning. The staff at the Emergency Room front desk were friendly, but once we entered the room, the nurses as well as the nurse practitioner met with us only briefly prior to leaving for nearly 30 minutes. They returned to ask a few more questions then left again for an extended period of time. Their lack of concern for the excruciating pain my mother was in was highly concerning to me as well as the rest of my family. I understand there are stresses to position, but to be treated so rudely by medical care staff was concerning to say the least. The lack of communication between staff was concerning as well. One nurse entered the room to inform us of an X-ray that was to take place which was soon followed up by a nurse we had seen previously telling us that there hadn't been any discussion of an X-ray. The rude exchanges from the staff continued throughout the duration of our visit. It was apparent to everyone that the level of pain my mother was experiencing was unimportant to the nurses and other medical staff. We were especially offended by the staff members audibly complaining about our mother right outside the door. Following another period of extensive waiting with no communication, the staff members decided to un and then redress the cast on her leg, which was done hastily and poorly. My mother is now dealing with additional problems from an ill-fitting, and excessively cumbersome cast. The entire appointment ultimately turned out to be a complete waste of time , with no positive results. The entire experience was a negative one, and in the future we will drive an additional 15-30 minutes to get emergency medical services from a different facility.

Unprofessional receptionist and nurse/ultrasound tech at the speciality Obgyn, suite 205. The room was not turned over before I went in and the nurse was Presumptuous and rude. I needed a level 2 ultra sound, and she raced through the whole process. Gave me blurry pictures and brushed off everything I said in response to her. I will never go there again. The doctor was nice, but I didn’t deserve to be treated so poorly.

Sarah Mohamed

Had the best Doc in this hosp sometimes back...really good whom I appreciate his care.

anne p

About to euthanize someone who has expressly said that she wanted to live!

William Cook

This is actually a no star hospital. Total lack of communication, arrogance and opposing diagnosis between doctors. We had numerous conversations with other patients family members who are just as frustrated and upset as we are. There is no compassion for the patient. Aftercare is less than substandard. We had our family member transferred to another hospital. Upon requesting a transfer, the administration tried to intimidate us with financial threats. Also, while waiting for the transfer, the cardiologist was bullying my family member to still have heart surgery. Once transferred, we found out he didn't need heart surgery immediately. If you decide to use this facility you have now been warned.

Gary Steichen

I recently spent five days in Southhdale Hospital following surgery. The quality of care I received was outstanding. The staff is not only extremely competent professionally they are also caring and friendly. Highly recommended.

*UPDATE; patient relations reached out to me and reached an amicable resolution. Being I asked for an apology and followup. I feel this is exactly what I asked as a resolution. What happened while I was there happened and I feel it would not happen again to another patient. *ORIGINAL REVIEW; This has always been a great hospital, past tense. I would never step foot in this place again after a stay where I had to interact with a social worker Kathy H. This lady is a piece of work in being generally rude and abusive. When you demand to talk to someone to complain about her treatment of you it gets even worse. This will often lead her to take punitive actions witch I was informed by staff tis was normal for her who also coached me how to deal with a person like that, specifically her. I don't know why person who should there to help but acts like she really enjoys wielding power over patients lives and expects and receives no consequences. In the end, my complaints about here were never addressed and I assume Kathy H. will never be coached on how be a decent provider or decent person in general.

I was not happy at all. I was tranportated via ambulence to the facility for spinal surgery after spending an entire day at another hospital thinking i was going to have surgery when i got there.. nope had to wait until the next day at 10am, the next day came still hadnt eaten and was excited to get this over with. I waited hours apon hours. By 6pm I said forget it, i am starving i need to eat. And asked for the surgery the next day which meant i was in dire pain for another day but at least i wasnt starving and crying. The entire stay was bad but i just dont think they are worth me typing actually.

For years, this was the hospital we went to. I've had a few problems here before but this was the most recent. I slipped on ice and was in a lot of pain. Drove myself (as I had no other option at the time) to the FS hospital. Parked my car and proceeded to try and get into the ER. I have MULTIPLE hospital workers (in scrubs) walk by and ignore the fact I was hurt, crying and needed help. A stranger walking to his car asked if there was anything he could do. He ran back into the ER, grabbed a wheel chair and wheeled me into the ER. The ER front desk (which they were the most helpful) got my information wheeled me in the back to a room. I was rushed to x-ray for them to check to make sure my knee was not broken. The x-ray technicians did a good job trying to do what they needed to do. Once I was finished I was wheel back into my designated ER room. I had a nurse ask me a bunch of questions, registration take all my information and finally the doctor. The doctor came in looked at me, moved my knee and said it wasn't broken but sprained. Another nurse came in and finally gave me pain medicine and fitted my with a knee immobilizer and crutches. Once I was fitted (still in excruciating pain) they all left the room and handed me a bunch of papers. I took a few minutes to try and calm down. My husband wheeled me into the hallway. We were asked to move (even though we weren't sure if we were finished) He had to go find someone to make sure I had a note for work, since it was not in all the paperwork they threw at me. No one explained the pain meds, no one explained how long I would be laid up, no one said go to an orthopedic specialist after XYZ days. We were left awe struck. I finally told my husband to get my car and wheel me out the door. I was done! I was in such terrible pain, crying and screaming out in pain. No nurses or doctors assisted me or my husband to get me in the car. There were nurses standing there watching, again no assistance. Strangers walking into the hospital asked if they could assist. AGAIN STRANGERS. Not the people who just got paid to tell me I sprained my knee. Needless to say, I NEVER want to return to this hospital. This was the last straw.

Becky Brown

My husband is now here with his fourth heart attack, I wouldn't bring him anywhere else. The staff works fast, he always gets the best of care here.

THIS IS THE WORST HOSPITAL EVER!!!! If you have a family member in the ICU and is Asian, do not go here!!! These nurses here are horrible, rude, and racist!!! They DO NOT have the passion to work as a "nurse"!!

Lauren Severson

Save your money and go to Abbott. They are not able to follow basic procedures at Southdale. They left a sponge in my aunt after she had a cesarean section. She had to go back to into the operating room and get opened back up right after she gave birth. On top of this horrible incident, this hospital also managed to leave a bible in a psych ward, which is definitely not a good place to have that kind of book. It caused a recovering family member of mine to go back into a delusional state and have another episode when he was just coming out of things the night before.

Sarah Larson

I had a procedure done at Fairview Southdale today and received excellent care from start to finish. I didn't see any sign of uncleanliness and I was treated with nothing but the utmost respect and kindness throughout my stay. If I need another procedure and I like the MD doing it, I wouldn't hesitate to see them at Fairview Southdale.

David Nagorski

Awesome staff. Great private ER rooms.

I am writing this for two different dates on 2/6/17 I fell on the ice so bad that I went to the er and needed stitches the wait did seem a little long but was pleases with the staff there. On that day I would have given them a 4.5 star rating. On 3/8/17 after calling my own Dr office I was told to go to the er and I did spend the night was a little loud and most of the staff was great. They do not ask you if they can make a follow up with your own Dr ( do they know what you do when) I feel that they made me feel that I am not capable of making my own appointment. This was done by a care cordanator .The other situation that happened was I went to the desk to get the discharge nurse and was on the phone and was ordered by someone not caring for me to go back to my room. Everything was fine to excellent till the last twenty minuets. They would have gotten 4.8 star but this dropped it to a 3.1 rating. Also what happened to Drs both times was a PAC

KareN Karges

Horrendous. I was admitted for emergency jaw surgery and it was like pulling teeth (no pun intended) to get the nursing staff to respond in a timely fashion with pain medication. My pain was out of control because it often took an hour from when I asked for pain meds to when I got them. I complained and then the nurses ignored me even more! Slow, inefficient, unfriendly and uncaring.

Mark Ravndalen

I took my 90 year old Mother to the ER for chest pains early one morning and the ER performed their job excellently. My mom was admitted to outpatient care and eventually to inpatient care for a gall bladder surgery. After the surgery she was helped to be transferred to a rehabilitation center. The outpatient care was again excellent, the surgeon who performed her surgery was one of the best in the field of gall bladder surgery. The inpatient care was also excellent with the entire hospital showing such compassion, top-notch care, and constant care and concern I would highly recommend this facility. And I would like to thank all who were involved for a job well done!

Missie Gundy

Hated it, worst experience ever...as I was being treated for blood clots they had no bedside manner whatsoever! Go to Abbott!!!!

Betsy Waverly

One of the best hospitals in the State. Highly recommend.

Rian Lee

Great staff

ER visit today. Nurses (both male) and doctor were amazing and helpful! When another nurse came on later in the night (pretty much when we were leaving) she had no clue what she was talking about and hopefully was only rude unintentionally as she thought the diagnosis was certain when really it was no diagnosis at all (uncertain preventative treatment in this case as it could be viral or infection). Other than that I was happy with the visit overall and would recommend.

Ms Bwells

Never have no baby here all the care is about your insurance card and I'd I lost my daughter here 11/12/13 and I didn't get sent home with no pain medication they ripped my daughter neck while having her and broke her spine it was terrible....

Daleious

Had an appendectomy on 9/14/19. Every nurse was incredible and the communication was constant. Surgical nurse Josh made my stay comfortable and helped out a ton. Didn't have much of a choice of where to go during the emergency, but I'm glad I ended up there. Would recommend to anyone

Robert Leslie

I have had more than 30 years of treatment at Fairview Southdale. Never had a bad experience. Hospital is stressful for everyone and I expect that has influenced some of the bad reviews. I have had heart, lung and neurological issues. The staff have always been able to diagnose me correctly and have given me wonderful and caring service. Thank you Fairview.

Mahdi Zambrella

Good service friendly staff &nurse Molly did a very good job all the way around, she was attentive very empathetic & nice

Cuong Rolex

Nurse Chantal Reuter in the Emergency Department is the kindest person around. She is very wonderful, goes the extra miles, making sure you are well taken care of. I gọt the best care while I was there. Thank you !

Sequoia Rogers

My fiancé went into the ER and was told to just take dizziness and nausea meds. They said it was viral and would pass. Found out after going to a neurologist that she had a stroke. We even figured that out on our own. This facility seems very under qualified!

shawn anderson

Clean. Hard working and very friendly professionals here.

Goran Pujic

We had our baby delivered at this hospital. The greatest experience I've ever had in a hospital. Yes, I know I wasn't the one in labor but the nurses and doctors were so great to both my wife and me. I still think back to the staff working there often.

Dawn Livingston

Terrible place- lack of communication . Was there four days last week. Luckily I was younger could fend for myself after a couple of days -my roommate not so lucky. Left in chair for an hour no response to call button. Nobody knew what anybody else was doing. One nurse for floor. A few Na ton of medical assistant who could do nothing but take you to bathrooms. After day 2. I just started taking care of myself. Nobody had any clue. Time to leave I just walked out after getting discharge papers. Will never go there willing again.

Thomas Strike

To the ambulance that brought me in , the dr, nurse, kristi Jarvis and Maddison and the last intake nurse, Thank you so much!

Jenene Calloway

Came from Wisconsin for Christmas vacation. Mom forgot her asthma medicine so we went there (urgent care) as she was struggling to breath. “Greeted with a very unwelcoming security guard. Went to check in and the front desk lady acted as if we were an unconvince. Nurse never even acknowledged me while there with my mom. Took her vitals but never shared the results. The PA came on was ok and showed a bit more empathy. Saw another post saying if you are a women of color don’t go there.. we tried it and unfortunately I think being a women of color impacted our experience. Frustrating that race still plays a part in how you are treated... this hospital is no different.

Stephanie Johnson

Award winning care ... Not here and I am impatient RIGHT now just had major surgery and have not seen my Dr. In 13 hours have no idea how it went . And my Nurse seem here 3 times ... Don't come here

Rachel Ballstadt

I am thankful & greatful for Fairview Southdale Hospital for taking such good care of me always. Your the best & #1 to me. I gave you five stars.

Great hospital!!

Date of Visit: 5/25/2019 around 2:00PM - Visited a family member in the cardiac unit. No complaints about the visit - public restrooms were fairly clean and we had a nice visit. My family member is frustrated because they're short-staffed over the Memorial Day holiday so she has to wait until Tuesday for her surgery.

Aquatik Guru

What kind of hospital charges for parking!! I can't even drop my sick grandmother off her makeup with out paying for parking!? This is absolutely ludacris! As if Fairview doesn't rip people off enough already. I will never support your hospital ever again nor will I EVER pay for parking there!

Leandro Viscarra

My mom was treated for surgery here and all I can say they have such wonderful staff. Both of the nurses that took care of her were amazing and caring. Pretty hot too....

Stephanie Miller

I am already on hold, for the OPERATOR.

Amanda Jones

Wonderful caring staff very intuitive. Quick and thorough service. Would highly recommend if I was ever back in Minnesota. Also very clean Hospital.

Judy Johnson-Hille

I had such a wonderful experience at FSH. I had my knee replaced on Thursday and would like to thank a whole bunch of people. Rachel, who was my pre-op nurse was awesome. On the fifth floor ((and I either mis-spelled your name or missed you entirely.) - Siran, Ann, Ali, Nima, Tenzin T, both Thelmas, Eli, Leon, everyone in PT and OT, the list goes on. Everyone was so kind and patient. Thank you, thank you thank you!!!

Michelle Kerber

Worst hospital experience ever.....nurses sleeping at the desk, ill equipped ER, excuses after excuses.....hope you never experience what I did with my gallbladder removal.....horrible. Award winning care? No where near close. Trust me. I don't' post unless it's a real deal and I'm warning others. PICK Another hospital for ALL of your needs.....

Shaya Duncan

I went to the emergency room here because of a rapid heart rate I was having. They took my vitals and didn’t tell me what the results were. I waited 40 minutes for a doctor to come see me. She asked me what my symptoms were and after I did she stated they would go away on their on and sent me on my way. I went to Abbott in Minneapolis shortly after leaving here to find out my heart rate was extremely high. They did an EKG that was not normal, currently waiting for my second EKG. If you’re a woman of color or a person of color at all. Please do not go here. They’re truly racist.

Larry G

Not sure why this hospital gets a bad rap/rep. They saved my life back in Dec 2011. I had been traveling there regularly on business every week to Edina. I had not been feeling well for quite some time (nausea, weight loss, pain in mid back)- my doctors in NJ could not find anything and kept saying nothing was wrong. Finally I felt so bad (pain and weight loss and shortness of breath) my wife insisted I go to the ER before getting on the plane. The staff in both the ER and in the rest of the hospital were awesome. The ER took my right away - put me on morphine, lowered my blood pressure. The ER Doc (Cherry Audrain) ordered a CT Scan of the chest; low and behold they found a tear in my thoracic aorta. I was admitted right away; Doctor Christopher Foley was my assigned attending and vascular specialist. He was wonderful. They were able to keep me stable until my wife was able to fly out. The surgical team was top notch........everything went great and the care there was first class: from surgeons, to radiology to nursing. Can't say enough about this facility. Wouldnt be here today and doubt if they would've found the problem in NJ until it was too late...........

Having been a patient here in the past, I chose Fairview Southdale Hospital for my surgery last month and am very pleased that I did. Every member of the staff I encountered from check-in to discharge was fantastic. Despite being incredibly nervous, my pre-op nurse, Marlys, was very warm, comforting and put me at ease. The nurses and nursing assistants on Station 33 are exceptional and I'm very grateful for each and every one of them who were assigned to my care - they made a painful recovery all the more tolerable. Thank you! I appreciate having been well-informed each step of the way leading up to surgery about what would take place and each question I had was acknowledged with great consideration. Overall, I had a very positive experience at Fairview Southdale.

Dr. A Sah

wonderful doctors.

Andrew Carlson

We just had out first baby here and had incredible care from the time we got there to when we left 2 days later. Had a wonderful team of nurses and doctors as well as a great staff helping with everything. Now to wait for the bill O.o.

Christine Tan

Lovely staff. Very helpful and efficient.

Dan A

VERY LONG HOLD TIMES TO GET PATIENT INFO AND TALK TO PATIENTS

Kemal Ozturk

This is our second visit to this hospital. Nice, professional staff. P.S. Clean restrooms.

Jay List

My experience with this hospital staff was amazing however there billing department and insurance collections is horrible. The won’t submit your insurance after I gave them my information three times. Didn’t hear anything back or get a bill in the mail until I got put into collections three years afterwards and insurance won’t look at the claiming so now I’m responsible for the full amount..... I wouldn’t recommend going here at all and try calling in to talk to someone you better pack a lunch and dinner because I haven’t been able to talk to anyone

Robin Lindberg

Social worker was incredibly rude. One doctor who read my dad's scathing report from nursing home, was smart enough to smell a rat!!! My dad also had a heart doctor who pressured us for a needless surgery. He threatened us by saying my dad would be dead in a year. He lived 5yrs longer, and could have lasted longer/better, I'd bet, had it not been for his Fairview affiliated nursing home. MLCC.

My mom was admitted summer of 2011 after she broke her hip. I can't complain about the care she received while she was there, but she was discharged her to a rehab center with no thought other than who has an empty bed. The social worker kept repeating how beautiful the facility was, and how lucky we were to get in. She was right. The place was beautiful, It was the Hotel Marriot for Medicare.but totally unequipped to care for a patient with her level of needs. I got a call at 3 A.M. informing me she had fallen out of bed, and was having difficulty breathing. I told the nurse to send her in. She had double pneumonia. A couple of days later I got a call from the rounding physician who said she was ready to be discharged. She added, and I will never forget, it, " Don't send your mom back here; there is nothing more we can do for her." I was shocked. I told the doctor that I knew that her alzheimer's disease couldn't be treated, but I wasn't gonna let my mom drown in her own body fluids and suffocate. I know this is insurance driven, but a draw a line , and put patient care first. When the social worker told me she was going back to the same facility. I refused. I asked for a list of rehabs, and toured the facilities. I found one that could meet her needs, and no, it wasn't beautiful, but they got her walking. The funny thing is when she was ready to be discharged the rehab doctor didn't want to release her.

Tammy C

I was admitted yesterday for a thyroidectomy. I was in tears because I was nervous about having surgery. The staff was great!!! The first nurse (Lisa) had such an awesome personality, she had me smiling and laughing. The staff always made sure I had what I needed, they made sure my questions were answered and the discharge paperwork was very informative and easy to complete. Overall I had a wonderful experience.

Steve Sincero

Saturday night, August 10th at around 8:30 I was struck down with a kidney stone. My wife and I were in from New York and made our way to this hospital. From the moment I arrived to the time I was discharged (about 4 hours later) I was provided the most excellent of care. The compassion, attention and professionalism I was shown helped ease the significant pain I found myself in. This being my third stone I am now familiar with the process and have to say this was the best care I have received. I’d also like to point out that everyone that tended to me were amazing women that treated me with great care and understanding; it is a very vulnerable position to be in being in such pain and everyone made me feel incredibly well looked after. My sincerest thanks and a loud golf clap to entire staff. I hope never to be back there only because it would mean yet another stone, but if I am...I know I will receive the best care. Thank you all very much.

Alisa Langley

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to all of the staff on the 3rd floor ICU. Wonderful, caring staff who were so meticulous and conscientious in caring for my mother. The nurses were always polite and answered our questions cheerfully. What I thought was wonderful was that the nurses never dismissed my worries if I felt something wasn't right with my mother. They always came to check on my concerns. Consequently my mother is doing better and was released to the next step of care. The other staff is wonderful too! The ICU doctors, Dr. Stevens and Dr. Dichter were very patient and caring to us as well. I also greatly appreciate the care team members who were quick to help me with a negative experience with the emergency department reception people. Elise and Diane were so kind to listen to how rudely I had been treated by the emergency department reception and follow up with them about it. I can't say it enough: Southdale 3rd floor ICU is the top when it comes to careful and gentle patient care. Thank-you so much for taking such good care of Marlene during her stay! :)

Alina Slutsky

Very disappointed with the way ER staff handled family members of the patient. I will not use this facility in the future.

Art LaBeau

The emergency room staff are outstanding here. Efficient, knowledgeable and great communicators. The level of care is top- notch from the minute you walk in the door until you're released. I've been there several times over the last six months and we experienced the same exceptional care and service every time.

Iinda McRae

I never post 5 for anything, but am forced to for this. Thank you to all of the staff in ER and the 6th floor that I encountered. I had a really outstanding team. Starting with the housekeeper in ER who is so kind. She truly set the tone. Everyone was ready and willing to do whatever they needed to do to assure my getting better and being comfortable. The level of care was amazing. The intake people in ER are pleasant and helpful. Nurses and staff in ER really had it together. The CT Scan guys were pleasant, humorous, and reassuring. My ER Doctor Poonam Kafie, is thorough and attentive. The person who took me up to my room was funny and a great driver of gurneys. The persons who I cared for me on 6th floor are thorough and professional. Andrew, Teegan, Elizabeth, Adam, Witeh, Jamie - my nurses. And the nurse who searched for supplies for me in middle of the night (who's name I think is Renee) that was impressive. The nursing assistants who made me comfortable and safe. I wish I had their names. The blood draw persons, every one of them is very professional, gentle, and very pleasant. Housekeeping, forgive the old fashioned term, is committed to providing a clean, and healthy atmosphere. Dr. Luis Laguna, for all the time he spent explaining and answering questions. That was amazing. And big thanks to Dr. Houston . The room service persons, who patiently worked out complicated diet requirements, making sure I didn't eat the wrong thing - doing this while I was on the phone with them and I know they were swamped with requests. People show a team mentality Everyone knows they can count on others. The facility was very clean, pleasant, the only complaint - The fan in my bathroom has a very Bates Motel sound to it in . LOL Appropriate as I was there around Halloween so maybe it was just atmosphere, You guys. . . . . . . .

I will never go back, I should have went to Princeton. Neurosurgery went great, excellent pre-op staff, excellent doctor. However, the nursing staff needs to go back to school and get some coaching in compassion. I am a 34 year old woman put in a room with a combative 90 year old that was constantly yelling out and getting out of bed. I got no sleep. Requested a new room multiple times, we contacted the hospitals patient rep, and the Nurse Manager. Apparently there were no rooms?!? Then how come there was an empty room next to me and then became a private room after I asked during my intake and each shift to change rooms??? Besides the room situation. There were MANY times I begged and begged for pain meds when they were due and many times has to wait for OVER 1.5 hours. One is the responses I got from the nurse was "well, we can't please everyone, and your lucky I came now because I haven't even had a break yet." I was completely appalled. Another response is "it's the middle of the night and I don't want to page the doctor". I can't wait to get my survey in the mail so they can hear all about my "fantastic" experience.

patrick jude

Came on in the ambulance, waited for almost 30 min before any doctor could figure out how to relive my excruciating pain. So they gave me a drug that I ended up through if up for four hours. Getting any type of help or answers from these people is crap

Some of the nursing staff is just plain rude, others very nice! The hospital , through all the reviews, is well aware of the staff attitude since it has been noted in numerous reviews. It seems it might be time for some employee training and discipline! Thank you to those nurses that showed compassion and kindness to my sister and family members.

I was here back in December for an exceptionally bad case of norovirus that, lucky me, decided that constant uncontrollable vomiting and diarrhea weren't enough, it was going to attack my heart too. I was hospitalized for the better part of a week, during which I was treated with nothing but kindness, compassion and respect, the nurses and doctors were all very up front with me about everything and very eager to help and make sure I was comfortable. I have never felt as well taken care of in any other hospital as I did here.

Meg Harrington

I've had to come here twice and every single time I have come in the doctors and nurses are amazing, they are kind and considerate and always help me as quickly as possible.

Michael Cassel

The staff and doctors in the birth center and labor and delivery are amazing. So warm and comforting.

Julie Bartl

I had heart surgery here on 6/21/19, and I have only high praise for the care I received. Dr. Voeller and his team were extraordinary, and all of the nurses in the ICU (shout-out to Michelle) were outstanding. I cannot comment yet on the billing process, but I felt I was in very capable, caring hands from beginning to end. Thank you!

Corey Collins

Went in for complications of Asthma, I would definitely recommend going to another hospital that has a better more clear and coherent process for handling emergency issues.

Never go to Fairview, Period!!! Scam artist scumbags. All they care about is money and how much they can get out of you. We pay $500 a month for insurance just for the wife and newborn. Fairview Southdale Charged $35,000 for a C-section. After the baby was born, they said her blood sugar was off just a little because of insulin mom was getting. They sent her to NICU to monitor her just incase. After the first 12 hours, she was good, but they insisted they had to keep her 72 hours to make sure it didnt go back up. I got the bill for the wife and it was $2700 co-pay. Later we got the babies bill. It was $1700 and the co-pay was $700. Now three months later, they are sending us a bill that says $18,700 for the babies stay and another co-pay of $2,700! $19k just to have her in a room that was only 8 feet wide!!! 6k a day in a closet with no door. Thats $6100 in co-pays and a total of over $50k to have a god damn baby! They charged $6000.00 a day just to monitor her blood sugar. This is NOT right, What they are doing is just plain evil!!! I dont know what to do, but Im not just allowing it to happen. I filed a dispute but out of the entire bill, they found nothing. How very depressing. What makes it worse is getting it a few months later instead of right away. Never go to Fairview. Never have a baby there. Never trust anything they say.

Matthew Britton

Cafeteria is AMAZING. Best hospital food in the cities second only to HCMC.

I received amazing care while at Fairview Southdale from 10/16/16 to 10/17/16. From first meeting the ER triage staff to leaving Unit 73. The staff on 73 were kind, thorough and competent. I also want to include the imaging staff, OT, speech, the volunteers who transported me throughout the halls and also the volunteer who does therapeutic hand massage. Each and everyone I met were engaging and professional, were genuinely concerned about my well-being, kept me informed of impending tests to be done along with the day's activity schedule. The bedside patient education materials were great and I brought them home with me. Not only did I leave having felt well cared for, I was also listened to. Thank you so much!

melinda kordich

so astoundingly bad I am still in awe. Was going to send my daughter( who was in agony with abdominal pains home after 6 hours of tests and waiting) with a "well, we can't find anything" I had to remind them of the initial urine test that tested positive for signs of a bladder infection, perhaps we could address that. She was having muscle spasms that were clenching her body up so tight and we had to wait ten minutes before they sent some one down to the room where she was getting an ultra sound-it was like we were bothering them. A tech told me I haven't been here long, but this is totally unacceptable. The final moment was when the nurse took her iv out and tossed the thing over our heads into the overflowing trash bin full of med waste. All I could think of was a Stephen King movie. I have never been treated with so much disdain and disregard.

While at my last physical I was asked, by my nurse, to fill out an anxiety t survey. When my doctor came into the room she solicited a conversation about my anxiety to "check-in". Following my appointment, I was billed $100 in addition to my insurance paying for my physical. I called into the billing line and was told that since I talked to my doctor about things other than preventative care that I would be charged for an office visit. I explained that both my doctor and nurse brought the subject up first and I was told by the billing department that I (THE PATIENT) should have stopped the conversation with my doctor and asked if this was going to be covered under a physical. I told the operator that this was beyond ridiculous and I wanted it overturned. I then followed up with the clinic I was seen at to have this handled in house as I completely feel taken advantage of by the person who is supposed to have my best interest in mind, my doctor. I left the administrator a voicemail, which was never returned. Today I received a letter stating that my bill would not be recoded and that I would need to pay the amount and that I could appeal by letter if I wanted. I'm beyond furious about this situation. Even though its only $100 its the principle at this point and completely unacceptable to take advantage of your patients like this. I feel scammed that the doctor and nurse would even bring my anxiety up and make me fill out a survey then turn around and charge me. Ive been a loyal patient but will never ever go back to Fairview again.

Great healthcare professionals!

My mother is currently a patient there. I am not able to be at the hospital and rely on updates from the staff to understand how she is doing. I found the nurse rude/impatient/unsympathetic that I initially spoke to. She noted a Dr. will call to discuss status, no call rec'd. I was unable to reach the nurse on one of the days I called for an update. (I called only 1ce a day for updates, usually late evening.) Was told she would have to call me back. No call received. Frustration abounded. Not sure how things went from my mom's angle, but from the perspective of a family member I would choose an alternate facility in the future.

They forgot to give my diabetic dad his dinner and then went and found some soup off someone else's plate for him. The nurses are unprofessional and tell you "this isn't my normal shift or I'm just filling in". Doctors couldn't figure out my dad's condition of uncontrolled falls and shaking and kept him for three days. They never considered his medication (Gabapentin) as the problem which he stopped now and he's fine. On final checkout, I asked the nurse if we should get final paperwork now, and she said no and then took off without me and brought him to who knows where. I had to have the desk to page the careless nurse who I had to describe because I didn't catch her name. The senior nurses seemed more on it.

Fairview Southdale has always been very good to me anytime I had to go to the hospital. I'm sorry for the people with the negative experiences. For me, a cancer patient,Fairview has been mostly wonderful. They always had someone I could talk to if I felt I needed it. At the beginning--I wasn't crazy about the way the news I had cancer was given me by the surgeon --I had same day surgery for a biopsy and found out right away. But the nurses were so sweet. I then went to Mayo. So I had chemo at Fairview Southdale--all went well. And had my radiation by Nadia? at Mayo. Radiation is very complicated and I felt better to go with Nadia from Mayo. For the rest of my treatment and still to this day I see Dr Barbara Bowers, who is wonderful. I also saw very good liver surgeons,,doctors at Abbott and MN gastro,, and one surgeon contacted Dr Bowers because he wanted to do an oblation of my liver--lazering cancer cells on it? I am very glad he had that idea and felt he could do it,since it was successful. I came into the hospital by the way of first going to emergency room-------- about 4 times. Each time I ended up in the hospital and had a very good experience. The nurses at the adjoining cancer clinic were so great all the years I went in for bloodwork or shots etc. And the nurses in the hospital on the floors were wonderful too. Some of them were so entirely cheerful and kind. Others a bit more businesslike-but still doing a fine job. They work hard. Whenever I was in the hospital I was visited by my fantastic oncologist Dr Bowers , and other great doctors. I take many meds and the nurses figured that all out --since I didn't have any with me. When Dr Bowers went to MN Oncology I was a little concerned at first that I wouldn't be able to use Fairview Southdale as my hospital. But no worries I still get to go there. I'd like to give a heartfelt thankyou to anyone who was and will be part of my care. .

Clinic is open at convenient hours for families or working professionals who need to see a doctor after 5pm.

Love this hospital! My second son was born here and it couldn’t have been better. All the nurses and doctors were always easily accessible, friendly and made the whole having a baby easier. I am very appreciative of everyone there. I didn’t have any billing issues thank goodness.

Great experience here last week, from beginning to end.

Anna Foss

My Mom was here for a few weeks. Myself and my entire family all agree.... Top notch care! Beats North memorial any day. Thank you to all the caring nurses!

I had to get some stitches in my left hand. Their ER is fantastic, quick, and efficient. Staff was awesome - friendly. Great experience.

The hospital it's self was nice but that was about it. they need to put more money in their staff than the hospital. very rude and snotty women work the front desk and act as if anyone who walks through the front door is a burden to them. they told us we only had 4 people ahead of us when we got there. once we saw 4 people get called back we then asked if we were next and we're them told we had like 4 people ahead and before that we had like 10 people. seriously?! either you really can count or you lied. the wait time was about a 2 hour wait just to get into a room. it honestly woulnt be that bad if the staff was pleasant. oh and make sure if you go you don't bring any kids l, the staff is not kid friendly at all and if he/she gets a little restless after waiting so long they take it upon themselves to reprimand them. Word of advise, the first impression is a big deal, hire people who actually like their job and give off a positive vibe and attitude when patients come in.

Went to their ER the day of New Year's Eve with very bad symptoms. I felt something strange in my head around 4am and woke up again around 9am not feeling right. I thought I'd try to sleep as maybe I was just tired from the busy holidays. Woke up again around 11am and the whole room was spinning. I was vomiting and couldn't stand, not just because of the dizziness but because there was some very obvious weakness on my right side. I couldn't even hold myself up with my right leg. We went to Fairview as it was the closest ER. My fiancé told them all of my symptoms (as I was way too sick to try to explain myself) and told them about the congenital heart defect I have which caused me to be on a very low dose blood thinner. Upon hearing my current condition the nurse made a confused face and just said "what's that?" which is fine but it didn't seem to phase her to maybe to a little research to let the Dr. know what was going on. After a CT they said nothing was wrong with me. That I just had a viral infection and that I needed to sleep it off. They then sent me home without another word. Two weeks later all of my symptoms were gone but the right side still wasn't working properly at all. I could hardly walk and couldn't use my right hand for anything. We went to my regular care provider who I had an argument with because she wouldn't believe me AND my fiancé when we said I was having issues with my right side, because Fairview left it out of the notes! (Obviously she has issues as well since she was believing notes over obvious physical evidence, but that's neither here nor there). She finally sent me to a neurologist who did actual full testing, including an MRI and found a mini stroke in my right cerebellum. I've now been back to the hospital (a different hospital) and was actually amitted and had multiple test done. I'm now on a stronger blood thinner and have to be in physical and occupational therepy to get walking and the motor skills back. It's been 3 months and I'm just now getting back to sort of normal. If Fairview would've admitted me and ran some tests they probably would've caught the issue a lot sooner and I could be much further along in the healing process. But maybe it was a blessing because I was able to get help from a better hospital anyway. What really irks me is that if it was a bigger stroke than it was, I could've been sent home and died. Fairview's negligence could've literally killed me. I plan on taking this issue up with Fairview directly because this is UNACCEPTABLE.

Carol Brand

The ER experience was very poor. Physicians were controlling, nurses were patronizing, and it took hours to get a simple procedure done and get my daughter "released." Apparently they think that the Patient Bill of Rights is optional.

Chris Heyer

I am not happy with Fairview's ability to help transfer my medical records to another hospital when a referral was needed. My MRI was not sent upon the original request, then the upon subsequent request I was treated rudely and again the MRI was not sent as promised. I am seeking a different primary care provider.

ANN MARIE

the worst hospital . i have had to be inpatient because of my doctors 6 times. my son was purple and they told us to take him home. we left and called from home and said he was in the room. he ended up being there for 30 days as he got a virus probably passed from a nurse as we had no visitors. i was taken off pain meds after surgery from another time in . i was screaming in pain and the nurses had to move my roomate. the staff doctor did that to me. the nurses said they did not know why the doc did that cruel thing. i will never go to this hospital ever again.

Great hospital!

Excellent staff, THANK YOU

I left my HONEST review of this place and they deleted everything!!!!!! Don't waste your time at this hospital.

My significant had a stay here with a pre existing condition, diabetes. Checked it every hour but didn’t give insulin until an hour later and decided to keep him another night due to high blood sugar. You bet your sunny side I’m gonna call relations and let them know exactly how I feel about it. This could’ve turned into a wrongful death (his blood sugar reached over 500s before insulin was given). Your irresponsibility and lack of urgency could’ve taken someone’s life. The next doctor to roll their eyes when it’s mentioned his insulin isn’t given to him, I will note their name and file complaints of neglect. He’s only there due to high blood sugar that you as a hospital didn’t acknowledge. Several disappointing factors of this hospital, and I do not trust them. +1 star, doctor seemed helpful at first...

jeff fischer

My mother was admitted a week ago . We left her in there care . The next morning I showed up and she somehow had fallen gashes her nose , and laid in a pool of her own blood until someone finally heled her . Needless to say I was not happy . A week later we still don't know what causing her condition

Jon Benner

I got the care I needed quickly, and the staff was so reassuring and helpful. Thank you!

Very great experience delivering our baby at the hospital! Dr. Larson and staff did an excellent job. Everyone was very friendly and knowledgeable throughout our entire stay! We are very thankful!

Ahmed Lotfy

AMAZING SERVICE! Best part were the nurses taking care of us. Nurse Stephanie from the delivery room was exceptional. She has the skills and attitude a true nurse and a human being in general needs to have. Stephanie was very helpful, smiley, constantly stopping by to check on us and make sure that we dont need anything. And even with our over demands she was always helping with a smile. Thank you Stephanie! Rachelle from post delivery was also amazing. Our time with her was short and sweet like they say.

Jennelle Hauge

I was VERY dissatisfied with the care I received while here. I was transferred from Fairview Ridges in Burnsville because they did not have any beds available. The ER nurses were great, but once I was up in my room, most of the nurses were rude and very hard to understand, as most a foreign. I will point out that I am a diabetic of 29 years and I also have Addison's disease, because of this the steroids increase my blood sugar. The 'genius' of a general doctor they had assigned to me wanted to give me 80 total units of lantus, which I normally only take 18 units.....once a day....which lasts for 24 hours!! The doctor told me that he could not medically discharge me because my lantus levels weren't' situated. I follow up with my endocrinologist every month and in a result of me leaving Southdale 'against medical care" The doctor couldn't give me dischagre papers. DO NOT EVER......EVER go there unless you want a doctor that cant actually help you!

Sha Ron

I been to the ER twice in the past couple of weeks for unrelated issues. The new dept is very nice and the staff was courteous and address the issue promptly. I did not had to wait. I went to the ER previously (a few yrs back) and hated it. I can say there has been improvement in the ER dept including the staff.

Quae robinson

Went there last night with sore throat. Didn't wait one minute immediately got seen by Dr. Very friendly! Very happy with the service!

This place has crappie respond time Why does it take so long to get help the staff are not nice waiting 2 hours for the doctor to come by

WORST HOSPITAL YOU COULD GO TO. I’ve been here a couple times had my son here 4 years ago and the nurse that was helping In my delivery was the worst she had no patience what so ever pushed once and she was already calling to get me sent down for a c section and no there was no complications she just didn’t want to deal with me. From then on haven’t been to this hospital. But my neighbor had to go there last night due to her hip popping our first the Fire and ambulances people were literally half asleep they had no clue what to do or how to help her the guy driving the ambulance didn’t know how to get to the HOSPITAL! Kept asking for direction from the other guy so my neighbor had to literally tell them how to get there!! She finally got there and they had her sitting in a room for an hr with her hip popped out in pain! They finally put it in after 2 hrs and they immediately discharged her and told her she had to leave the room she couldn’t walk yet she was still super drugged up from all the meds and was in no bra just a t-shirt one of the nurses literally drags her out of the room and tells her she has to leave while my neighbor is begging her and telling her she can’t walk and has no proper clothes to sit out in the lobby she said she didn’t care she had to go! DO NOT GO HERE!!!! THESE PEOPLE HATE THERE JOBS!

Don Malinowski

Poor continuity across whole organization. No intracommunication within and with Regions Hospital.

Brittany Hill

I can NOT believe how RUDE the ER admissions/check-in associates were this morning at 8:30 this morning... very hateful and demeaning attitudes! I can assure you that my family and I will not be returning to this ER. First impressions mean everything! On the other hand Erin, the doctor that saw me, helpful and understanding. Thank you to her...

ryan flannery

Avoid this hospital it's definately gone down hill!!! This was our second baby delivery here, when we arrived the bed my wife was put in had a significant blood mucus stain on the blanket and hair on the pillow - it got worse from there once we were put into a room - the bathroom was nothing less than disgusting - toilet had urine stain the shower floor had built up grime and there was dust behind the door. They have some really great nurses, but all in all it's nowhere near a sterile environment, quite the contrary and that is what I find disturbing.

alyssa sax

E.r. doc jason was not only rude he also found the need to yell at me about not habing insurance. Then he proceeded to mocl me to his coworkers.... Worst e.r. doc ever

Otellia Hassinger

Went there after I fell at work. Arm was hurting so work brought me here. Staff was nice got back to xray right away. Then left in the room for quite a while pain increased called nurses no one able to help. Dr comes back tells me they don't show anything on the xray. Told him of the increased spasms of pain. Told me I could've just hit a nerve and sent me on my way. On the way back to work pain got worse and worse. So decided to go to Tria cause with that much pain something had to be wrong. Found out my elbow was fractured and I was having muscle spasms. Misdiagnosis can lead to terrible results good thing for me I didn't take this ER doctors words

Elcomia Nahlamylife

Good bless the Dieters and nurses for what they do

Danielle S

Horrendous quality of care, very flawed medical system in the ER. Rude, disrespectful nurses who exude their utter disdain for their jobs. Wait time was not an issue, as it was a transfer from Urgent Care. It was understandable to ask the same questions Urgent Care had already asked, perhaps even a few times. It was not understandable to ask the same questions over and over, at least 8 times in one visit. It is the job of the physicians and nurses to diagnose the illness, or ailment- it is not the job of the patient to do so. This is why the patient seeks help from the doctor. The incompetence was rather startling. Failure to do a simple blood draw, and administering an IV; to a nurse snapping angrily at a patient when being reminded of the need to protect veins for dialysis, already noted in the chart. The nurse then walked out, leaving all of the supplies behind and not doing the blood draw at all or saying if she would come back, which she did not do. No care was provided, no diagnosis was given. I would NOT recommend this hospital to anyone, especially if they intend to be an active part of their healthcare.

Stacy Bloomquist

Very fast, nice staff. Took care of me well. Doctor Edward Beadle was amazing and took care me fast.

Ricky Aranda

We were happy with their nurses, and our doctor is amazing.

Alyson Newquist

Quite possibly the nicest ER I’ve ever been to, staffed with the nicest folks you could ask for during an 11pm-3am visit. Wait was a little longer (45 mins) than available internet estimates (of unknown accountability) stated, but the check in staff were fast and helpful when asked for pillows to help prop an increasingly-swelling, infected foot, informed on wait time, and pleasant. Plus there were fancy vending machines that eventually produced fruit snacks for us. Nurse Rother was extremely informative and personable, the rooms were nice, and Dr. Fitzgerald presented the situation and options clearly. Feeling confident my boyfriend will soon return to having feet and ankles that are the same size and no longer be hobbling.

Abby Nelson

Opposing information between doctor and nurse. The doctor- great. Nurse (Kathy) terrible. The doctor gave medication for the problem and the nurse came in and told us that we were not allowed to take the medication with us (literally eye drops), and ripped them out of the patients hand. She then said that the doctor was new and didn't know the policies. 1. Do not tell a patient that a doctor is on his second shift ever 2. Educate your doctors on the policies before seeing patients.

Eric Martin

I had an unusually good experience with a handful of people while my dad underwent the heart surgery process. For the surgery itself Brian was a highly competent and articulate anesthesiologist, and although I've met surgeons who were either insanely skilled or likeable I've never met one who was both to the extreme degree Dr. Voeller was. Two nurses who deserve special recognition are Megan in the ICU and Eric in the Special Center down the hall from ICU. Megan is an encyclopedia, and you can just tell that she's genuinely a -nice- person. Eric spent time and effort getting the bed situation with all the tubes and cords and lights and blankets etc. just right, to the point I actually felt comfortable leaving for the night. These people and others have my most sincere thanks.

Mahad Mohamed

nice one today having a fun

G Daley

I had surgery and a overnight stay. There were many issues including having to wait 30 minutes for a nurse respond to my call for help. 1. After waiting 20 minutes I had to call a friend and ask them to call the nurses station. 2. The screwed up removing the IV. When the nurse left blood started spurting all over the floor. 3. When preparing to leave they gave me another persons clothes. 4. I was only given a stack of papers with generic information for after care. No one discussed with me about care and restrictions I should know after surgery. 4. Forget about calling their patient help number. They don't answer the phone and you have to leave a call back number.

Paji Rose

Having a career, in an environment that is to only care for others.. it’s unfortunate that the front of the hospital team (the first people you see when you walk in) are “cold,” and rude.

Michael Kauper

Physicians Heart did not have access to my medical records even at my third visit, even though I filled out and signed all the relevant papers. I did not choose a physician, they choose for me. The physician they choose appears to be new, young, and inexperienced. HIS NAME, PHOTO, AND RESUME WERE ALL MISSING FROM THIER WEB SITE. Why did they not bother to put him on the web site! Prices for services are insanely high, although they may be typical. My physician at U of M is Dr. Abdi Jama, and I like him. He is honest with me, seems to care about my outcome, and he gives me statistics I can use to make decisions. They do seem to have decent technology, with very good diagnostic equipment. As I said, however, insanely high fees.

Sara McAtee

They threatened my disabled, elderly mother and wanted to turn her out in the winter weather (below frrezing) at 3am, when she didn't have an immediate ride home after being discharged with severe flu. You would be safer ANYWHERE else, than this horrible excuse for a hospital. They actually encouraged me to wake up my sleeping infant and toddler and come get my mother, (who has the flu, mind you) when told I needed to wait until I had care for them before I could pick them up. (They also knew I had taken medication with side effects of drowsiness and demanded I come get her immediately anyways.) Absolutely disgrace. How are these guys allowed to operate?

Wendy Hurd

Please take care and do not go here for care. I was there yesterday for a broken nose and they didn't even offer an ice pack. The nurse had no idea what she was doing and only gave guidance after she looked up "broken nose" on their equivalent of Google and gave me a hand out. They missed everything and should be shut down for negligence

Tom Green

Helpful Staff.

Excellent staff, nurses were very attentive with anything I needed. I don't have any complaints. Thanks guys!

Lexi Bryant Tavani

Wonderful birthing, delivery, and postpartum staff! NICU is great - an amazing team of individuals with a passion for newborns. Couldn't be happier that we delivered here and had the excellent resource of the NICU at our hands when our baby needed it only seconds after arriving into this world!

craig underwood

Horrible place to visit. They neglect you. They give you meds when pain is excruciating and tell you to come back if problems get worse. Went back to get the same results. Went back a third time and finally left after waiting almost 3hours without getting a room. Was told I had 1 person in front of me then 30 minutes later was told 3 people were in front of me. I could barely stand and had vomited in the waiting room 3 times. This hospital really sucks. I have had a few bad visits there and this was the last time. I would definitely recommend you go downtown to HCMC.

Jake Esser

They don't even staff their own emergency department doctors and instead contract with physicians outside of their network. Expect to receive two absurdly inflated bills if you need to be seen in the emergency department. Or just find somewhere else to go that doesn't take advantage of your insurance. Oh and also, my rapid strep came back negative during my visit but the culture a few days later returned a positive result. They never even bothered to notify me once the lab released the results....

Elouise Knutson

My nephew collapsed on job. CPR by friends, ambulance crew recessitated 2x. Emergency n Hospital crew has been excellent.

Randy Peters

Well respected hospital. Very appealing new ER entrance on North side. They are known to realistically have some of the best doctors and medical technologies in the world. Overall a great asset to Edina and the Minneapolis community.

Angela Barnes

THIS IS THE WORST PLACE FOR THE SICK TO GO MY FATHER WAS IN THE ICU 2ND FLOOR AND THE NURSE DID NOTHING BUT SIT IN THE NURSE DESK SITUATION AND VISIT MEAN WHILE PATIENTS CALL LIGHT WERE ON UNCLUED MY FATHERS SO AFTER WAITING FOR 15 MINS I WALK OUT AND TELL THEM THE NURSE SAID ILL BE RIGHT IN THEN 10 MORE MINS GO BY THEN SHE COMES IN TO SHUT OFF CALL LIGHT DIDN'T ASK Y IT WAS PUSH JUST WALKS OUT TO WERE I HAD TO SAY WHY WOULD U ASK IF THERE WAS SOMETHING NEEDED ? SHE SAID I DON'T SEE ANYTHING I SAY LOOK CLOSER HERE THE IV BLEW AND WAS FEELING UP WITH BLOOD SO THEN THEY CALL FOR HELP MIND YOU IF I WENT HAVE BEEN THERE WHO KNOWS WHAT COULD HAVE HAPPEN WITH NO ONE CHECKING ON HIM THEN WALKING OUT I HAD MY FATHER REMOVED BOUGH TO HCMC AND WHAT A BIG DIFFERENCE THEY CHECK ON HIM SO MUCH HE GOT TRIED OF IT BUT THAT'S THE WAY IT SHOULD BE NOT LIKE HERE NEVER WOULD GO HERE ON MY DYING DAY ARE BRING MY FAMILY EITHER!!!!!

Debbie Nelson-Scheffler

I was an inpatient at Fairview Southdale Hospital. This is a picture of the bathroom floor in my room. I asked to have it cleaned and I was told this was as clean as they could get the floor. Pretty gross. The nursing care was equal to this.

Cindy Kellerman

Wow. I just called their main number and asked to speak with someone in their Heart Clinic at Fairview Southdale and I was transferred 5 times and each and every person I was transferred to acted inconvenienced by my call except the Heart Clinic - the 6th person I talked to! The fact that it took 5 transfers to get me to the right department is extremely frustrating - combined with the unprofessional customer service phone etiquette. My blood pressure is up now and I'm worried that I won't receive good customer service when I arrive today.

nithin reddy

This is one of the waste hospital in the Minneapolis area! They don’t know how to take care of billing department, if some one enters into this hospital they must die paying the bill, they literally charge you for everything! Which means they don’t bill everything thing together they will charge every thing separately! This is not the right way to charge the hospital bills

Mustapha Ibrahim

Was at the Emergency Department earlier today, the receptionist were friendly and helpful. Got seen by Dr. Moe, I was examined for Epigastric Pain, the Doc. was thorough with lots of questions (trying to gather all information) to help with treatment. Nurse Laura was helpful too, the smiled to me all through the time. Overall nice and top notch clean facility.

Tina Roe

Understaffed and nurses have bad attitudes because they are overworked.

Victoria Littlefield

Had a total knee replacement there last December. My doc was fantastic, but the aftercare (3 days) was horrible. The nerve block, which was to stay in for 2 days, came out almost immediately, leaving me in excruciating pain. They could not find the right pain med for me for 3 days and had to keep me sedated or else I screamed in pain. It took them hours to get authorization to find different pain meds before they finally found one that worked. They assign a doctor to each patient (who is not your surgeon) - she showed up twice for about 30 seconds. My husband stayed with me the whole time, and if he had not been there to advocate for me, I don't know what would have happened. He slept on the floor next to my bed. My room had a shower, so he took one and got water on the floor since there was no shower curtain. He wiped it up with a towel, and said the towel came up filthy. There were also filthy, black cracks in the wall in the bathroom. Staff was very slow in responding to my calls. I wet the bed twice because they did not come in time to help me to the commode and three other times they left me on the commode without coming back to help me back to bed. With my right leg immobilized, there was no way for me to move myself and I sat there as the pain just increased and increased. This was the most terrifly and horrifying hospital experience of my life, and I have had three children.

Dont bother coming to the ER if you're a woman of color in pain. Go to Ridges hospital. Poor bedside manner.

Let me say that the ER team of nurses and doctors are phenomenal. I arrived in an ambulance in April during one of the biggest snowstorms. They catered to me the second I got off the truck and within 2 hours I was being admitted and sent to their 24 hour observation center. The nurses kept me calm, made me laugh and were amazing and curing my pain almost immediately. The observation center was full of equally amazing nurses and when I was finally admitted to the 6th floor all the nurses were beyond supportive. Why the 2 stars? It's only based off two complaints. I had one nurse named Witty who was horrible and ignored my needs and my Doctor, who was Dr. Houston was beyond unresponsive. There were several situation where the nurses couldn't help me and they call/paged him and he refused to come upstairs to help in anyway. They even told me he wasn't busy and he even told them to just give me meds for anxiety when I was there for issues with my pancreas. I was disgusted by him but it's common in U.S. hospitals for the nurses to offer all the patient care and the doctors to just skim over your chart and not have your best care at heart. If I was solely basing this review off the nurses it would be 5 starts but due to the one nurse Witty who was horrible and Dr. Houston it took it down to 2 stars. Even the cafeteria staff treated people better.

Worst in patient mental health unit ever! The staff are rude, unwelcoming and the place is a dump. It looks a literal prison, the bathrooms are disgusting, and the amount of love, light and things that help with mental illness are unbearable. I actually could not handle seeing my own mother because of the overall disgusting nature of the unit. My new LEAST FAVORITE PLACE EVER!!!
