If Jennifer Engle is your PA, request someone else. Your life may literally depend on it. Checked into the Abbott Northwestern ER at 5 AM last Thursday and was seen by Jennifer Engle (PA). My partner's symptoms were severe abdominal pain, vomiting, and a fever. After seeing Jennifer, she sent us home with a diagnosis of mere "constipation" and a lousy anti-nausea medicine. Have you ever experienced constipation doubled you over in tears? We requested imaging just to be sure and were denied. We requested pain medication and were denied. We requested a stool sample to rule out anything bacterial and were denied. Every request was met with eye rolls and scoffs by either Jennifer or nurses on her staff. Luckily, we found a GI doctor in the suburbs that agreed with us and demanded the hospital give her a cat scan. We returned to the hospital a second time and were once again sent home and told to call the next day for results. My partner ate for the first time that day and not 15 minutes later, the hospital calls and tells us to get back immediately because she had APPENDICITIS. Jennifer Engle herself had mentioned that SEVERAL of her blood test results indicated appendicitis but there was "no chance because she doesn't have every symptom." Fast forward to the third trip to this incompetent hospital and she can't have the surgery performed that night because she ate! Because we were sent home! Then the staff has the nerve to give us flack about it! So now she's forced to spend the night in agony in addition to the 15 hours since the first ER trip because they couldn't be bothered to do their jobs thoroughly! Folks, appendicitis is deadly if left untreated. Be your own advocate and don’t take no for an answer if something is wrong. Gross negligence.

Abbott is the only place I'll go for myself or my family when we need emergency care. They've always been attentive, treated us with appropriate speed given our circumstances and others, and we've received excellent care from the triage nurses, the ER nurses, residents, doctors, imaging, and lab staff. And yes, we've experienced all of those. They've never sent us home without making sure they've thought of other possible implications and verifying that we're safe. Do you spend a long time there? Yes, sometimes. It's an ER and unless you're in critical condition, that can happen. But if you're the person who needs the critical care, know that you'll get it.

Came in with broken bone they where only interested in my partners caught and they where very nasty to us on the way there we took paramedic and the drive said you would be better of at the u of m I wish I listed to them

Over an hour just to get vitals my vitals taken. Ridiculous. Wont be returning

Fine experience, seemed like the check in nurses didn't believe how bad the problem was that we came in for but once they realized it was a actual issue, everything seemed to work out fine.

!!! Warning : Seek care elsewhere !!! Incredibly poor and outdated practices. When you are in the ICU one of the most important factors is having your support team there. They offer a folding chair and nothing more. I have been to countless hospitals in MN and close to as many ICUs and I have never seen such horrible conditions. The only thing they cared about was billing me for as many services as possible and making sure to do everything in the middle of the night while one is asleep and unable to ask questions and challenge if something is really necessary or in my best interest. One rogue doctor withheld food for days, to the horror of other doctors who discovered what was occurring days later — no wonder I wasn’t getting better! I’ll take my chances traveling farther away to seek medical care, anywhere is better than here. Additionally we spoke to patient care services to elevate our concerns and they failed to follow up on the issues at hand — but no worries they been super quick to bill me! I will say there were a few staff members that were absolutely phenomenal and I just wish I could send a recruiter their names and have these poor wonderful souls placed in jobs at a better hospital.

Very pleased with my experience here. There's a security check when you first walk in and it has been recently updated so its very nice and clean. This is my first time visitng this Hospital but they got me into their system quick and efficiently. Only had to wait a few minuets and all the nurses that helped me were very caring.
