I walked into the ER having a heart attack. I don't think that it was five minutes before I was in the cath lab. They were able to spare my groin and go in through my wrist. The procedure is supposed to take 90 minutes, the people in the lab worked together like a well oiled machine. From start to finish it took about 45 minutes.

Tranquil, peaceful atrium. Both of my kids were born here. It felt more like staying at a hotel then in a hospital!

Dave Bedard

Such a beautiful atrium

Their staff are horrible about getting insurance and appointments set up. It’s been three months and still they say it is my insurance they are waiting on for my Botox injections. I have been taking Botox for two years and new to the area. Never had any problems before with my same insurance. Poor service

I get very anxious around doctors. It is never a good sign when you have to go to the ER. I had to stay overnight, but I must have had 12 different nurses attending me and 12 different doctors. They were very caring and adamant about my personal care. Yeah I know, It is a liability standpoint on their side, but they actually did care. Granted they probably ran up my bill a tad, but how do you value your health. This is by far one of the best hospitals around with more than adequate procedures to handle many difficult situations.

WE had a family member staying in the hospital for a long time now and wanted to share how awful and unpleasant our experience has been with the valet service, and when i say valet i mean Henry. Every morning we were greeted by his moody and rude personality which made our day in the hospital already bad. This opinion was shared by many other customers as well as some employees. I watched him closely and saw him lose his temper real fast on numerous occasions,,,slamming papers, doors and once heard him call a senior citizen stupid because he was complaining about something. He has terrible customer service and once the customer starts complaining (which can happen during peak hours) he completely goes off on them, not to mention that he takes extreme amount of time to bring up the cars compared to the other employees. I will never valet my car there again or my family as long as he is still there. Everything he projects from himself is negativeness, arrogance and rudeness and im puzzled by the decision of having him as your employee that greets so many people and being hospitals first impression.

I wouldn’t recommend St Vincent Hospital. We are waiting here now for five hours total, three hours for the doctor to come in which he hasn’t. Haven’t had any communication or check ups by nurses or standing by staff. We are currently waiting in the far room where the nurse outside is scrolling through socially media on the computer. Poor care from the staff here at the hospital. Disappointed.

They took me right in! No wait. The nurses and doctors were really nice! They kept me smiling even though I was really sick. They really seem to care. They also keep checking up on you. Overall great place to get seen for an emergency.

I was very apprehensive after finding out about my lung cancer, but the wonderful surgical team helped me to understand and know what I could be facing, and walked me through all phases of the process, even things that could go wrong. And something did go wrong. So if did exactly what they told me to do in this situation, and went to the ER, which was packed. The admitting nurse evaluated me immediately, even though I did not know it. The ER team went into action, got me too x Ray and then had to do a procedure in the ER. I can tell you, I feel as if I got bumped in front of at least 30 people that night, and now you understand how an ER works. It's not a Dr office. I read a lot of other reviews before I wrote mine. Not one of them felt reasonable. I'm just a person with a medical problem and everyone from every department was exceptional. I did have one problem. The food is awful. I have posted a picture of what could have been my " last meal". Black mold spots on the broccoli, and you could smell the cart all the way down the patient wing. How did this obviously rancid food reach the plates of the patients everyone is trying to help??

I showed up with an abscess, or infection in my face from a tooth. The pain is intense. I complained that I have been waiting over 4 hours without being seen, does the nurse get the doctor, nope, she spends the time to check and correct me, " it's been over 3 hours sir not 4" she says. . Than I see the doctor walking by and I ask why the amount of pain a patient is in doesn't speed up the process and he says others have been waiting longer.these people are disfunction. So if u r having a life threatening situation or extreme pain.. don't come here

Maria O'Neill

Speedy and very friendly service. Thank you!

Been waiting over 2 weeks for the hospital to obtain a referral for my knee surgery. Not impressed.

The nurse Amy in the ER was very rude and disrespectful. My 98 yr old grandmother got taken in by rescue. I called an hour later to see what was happening and let them know we would be up shortly. Her exact words ' I don't know I had to leave her bed side to come to the phone and talk to you' I understand they are busy.I have been a nurse for 27 yrs but I have never spoke to a family member like that. They nurse on the floor was slightly better, but she had no time for us .Sitting in a chair with a computer rolling back in forth outside 3 rooms . Discussing my grandmother situation in the hallway through the door is just not good nursing care. If this is how hospital nurses act then i will stay in home care.Very sad

I was in the ER about a week or two ago with my mother. We got there at about 4pm, it was VERY busy. One nurse Juliette was so incredibly kind and so helpful, she totally stood out. There was another girl working with my mom named Sarah, I'm not sure what her role was but she catered to my mothers every whim medically, but was also darting all over the place seemingly caring for half the ER while still stocking shelves and cleaning. I don't have a single complaint about anything up until about midnight. The day staff had gone home and we had a new nurses. All they did after midnight was sit at the desk gossiping about other staff, mostly management. Honestly, it was kind of entertaining, seeing as they have no TVs (by the way, there should be TVs!!) It was almost as good as a soap opera. It was much quieter at night, but everytime we wrang the call bell, I watched their faces instantly become annoyed and shake their heads. Atleast they pretended to smile to my mom, who said she had a great experience through and through. My advice to everyone with these negative stories, these people are people, not psychics or superheros. And my mom always says, you can't attract flies with vinegar. So a good attitude will bring you a longggg way.

My mother was recently back here for the 3rd time in a matter of 6 months I'd say. Two of the times she was on unit 35 , I'd like to give kudos to a pca that had her named erika, the first time she was her pca and the second time she wasent assigned to her but even so, erika went above and beyond to make sure my family, my mother and I were always filled in on what was going on. She was awesome! Even the nights we saw everyone running around so busy she still made it a priority to stop in and put a smile on my moms face making her comfortable, washing up, tidying up the room and even was sweet enough to make us all what she called "hospital sundaes " ! All the pcas were wonderful but I will never forget the little things she provided. Excellent care SVH.

The Medical Records Department is very professional - I'm requesting a copy of medical records with a problem and staff in the department is respectful and helpful to resolve the issue. Thank you ladies!

I recently became a patient here because i got hurt at work. My review this hospital has poor communication with me. I am a patient with orthopedic Department and I have to keep calling. For example i was told i was going to receive a call when my MRI order was approved and when i get this phone call i would be able to schedule the MRI appointment. Three weeks later i called i told them who i was and what was ordered so with this conversation i was told i see johanton ponte ordered the mri and the mri was approved three days later when he ordered I never received the the phone call May 7th 2019 I called them to schedule a follow up I was told they would call me before the end of business day its. 1804 pm no phone call i guess i have to call again. I just sont like how i been treated with the office with the poor communication from doctor schuffleburger office orthopedics relient medical group

This Place is very expensive . for an injection they charge you $100 as administration fees. i know medical services are expensive but this is hyper expensive. Please check twice before you request for any service here.

Long wait time. Incompetent and inefficient billing department

garrett Patterson

Absolutely terrible experience, I was literally assaulted by a tech named Chris. Took me 12 hours to be admitted. Once admitted I was robert physically removed my medication and the whole thing got out of control. Worst hospital visit i havr ever been to.

Justin Cameron

Knowledgeable and experienced doctors in their emergency department, as well as their insurance department. They were really helpful, and made sure I had the best insurance possible for my income and personal setting. Very kind and helpful staff.

Customer service is totally ridiculous. Called today 9/5/2019 at 1:16 PM to make inquiry about 2000 dollars that I paid upfront even-though I had a health insurance to get itemized bill which it was promised to me to get it in the mail but I never received it. Customer rep was super rude. She was yelling at me " I DO NOT CARE" "ITS NOT MY BUSINESS" "DO NOT INTERRUPT ME" ......

Deborah Manning

Came home crying from the awful treatment and pain I had during a recent visit here. Had an Echocardiogram here and the technician was rude and inconsiderate. She was obviously in a rush and not happy to be doing the test because they squeezed me in at the last minute. per my Dr.'s request. The technician was rough and hurt me throughout the hour long test and even though I told her she was hurting me she continued to do so and told me I likely had fibromyalgia instead of owning the fact that she was hurting me. In addition she threw a gown at me and remained in the room while I changed and I wasn't allowed my privacy at all or to fold my clothes. It was an awful experience and next time I will go to my local hospital as planned instead of being hurt and treated badly here.

Daniel Mooney-Willand

Was born there turned out “fine” (wink wink)

Kelly Hauk

The nurses in triage where very rude. This hospital is going down hill.. Go to u mass.. I will never bring my mother back here again!!!!!!!! The room we are in is dirty and stinks!!!

Salma Khan

I just had a baby boy there and all the staff members were super friendly. I felt so comfortable being there. very clean place loved it

Andrea Carpenter

This hospital has gone downhill over the years. Very poor patient and family treatment. Rude nurses treat patients awful, if you are elderly you better have a family member advocate for you otherwise you'll be ignored. Best to avoid this hospital.

I have waited 10 months to write this review, to make sure my emotions were settled and I was not being sensitive. My brother was brought to St Vincent after suffering a heart attack while attending a concert. Because of his age, staff assumed he was a drug overdose. This is in itself would be it's own review, as those who overdose are still worthy of timely care, respect and life, but i'll save that argument for another day. My brother was 31 when he died at St Vincent's. His friend was in the waiting room, and due to privacy was not allowed to see him for 4 hours. I've worked in the medical field and although I do not agree with this I understand it is policy. My issues arise when they didn't utilize his friend to get my parents phone number. My brothers time of death was 10:10pm. The hospital didn't even attempt to call my family until after 1am and when they didn't get in touch with anyone they stopped calling. Why? My brothers friend, after not being able to reach us by phone, called our local police. The police department told my parents a family member was in the hospital, that was all they knew, and gave them the number to call the hospital. When my parents called, the staff there told my mom OVER THE PHONE that her son was dead and that they needed to come to the hospital. We live an hour away from the hospital. They could have easily waited until my parents got to the hospital and broken the news to them with more compassion. I wish that is where this story ends. When my parents arrived the doctor was cold. Wouldn't answer any questions and rushed them out of my brothers room so that they could move him to the morgue. Now I try to give the benefit of the doubt here, maybe the doctor didn't have any answers, but be kind, and be honest. Instead the doctor was short and rude and in a rush and it makes me question the level of care my brother received. Was the doctor quick to write off his life? My gut tells me yes, but I will never have proof of that. If you made it this far, thank you for reading. If you have the choice, seek care elsewhere. You and your loved ones are not just a number, or a paycheck. They, just like my brother, deserve more.

Brian Chorsaway

I've NEVER had a bad experience at this hospital! Or had to wait long periods of time! i love how clean the hospital is. It's truly a good hospital. Never had to wait long here either. Reccomend for sure.

Jennifer Baker

If the tattooed cleaner spent more time cleaning and less time flirting with guys that come in, I wouldn't have to ask other employees if she actually works there.

Fritz Maiser

The atrium is great, the food services excellent.

They have genuinely good staff working there but I feel like once you go into the emergency room and you tell them the problem they don’t listen. Like they just don’t listen you tell them everything and they just like basically give you Tylenol and send you on your way. I was there yesterday and a guy literally walked out because they took 2 hours just to see him,Then once he left the staff started talking about him.

Harry Greene

Dr Forno was a miracle worker. Cannot thank him and all of the staff enough. Great experience overall!!

Cássio Pereira

I am completely shocked at the way my friend was treated in his appointment with his new Primare Care Doctor, the doctor, Samson Hanka simply terminated the consultation with the patient, without giving any satisfaction and explanation of the patient's questions.

UPDATE: someone tried reaching out to me from Saint V after this review and did not leave a voicemail and i cant call back to speak with anyone!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Went to this ER last night. It was probably the worst thing I’ve ever decided to do. People MUST die here. I was in a back section where I could here people crying and begging for nurses after they were puking and falling down and there was no one to be found. I went in around 3:30 and didn’t leave until 6:45. That was after pushing the nurse button a thousand times and begging to give me an antibiotic and let me leave. I am NEVER like that. I only had a uti but I’ve had kidney issues in the past so I decided to go instead of waiting for the morning because I couldn’t sleep. I went in and told them that and they thought everyone with less major symptoms would just “sleep it off” and we’re ignoring everyone. We don’t come there to sleep!!!!!!! I basically paid $150 (copay) for then to order me an antibiotic. Which is why I went but I didn’t need to sit there in pain waiting three hours for it. I’m appalled They had forgotten about me and I had to ring the bell for ANY help at all. This place is the worst. I’m still recovering and just so angry at myself for going here. I’m still convinced I’m having my kidney issue and they didn’t even look into it after three hours.

I am currently here with my fiance and we have been together for almost 15 years . Our lives are intertwined as husband and wife just don't see a need for the piece of paper. I am his legal healthcare proxie and power of attorney if needed. He dose not want me to leave him as he dose not feel safe here among other things. The nurse did not even greet him this morning before storming in an lecturing that I can not stay. My fiance made it very clear that he wants me to stay. A nursing director showed up later with an additional hostile attitude. My fiance again made it clear to her that he did not feel safe and wanted me there. She told him no so he asked to be transferred to another hospital. . The director left the room and proceeded to tell nursing to just call security AND Bold FACE LIED saying I asked for him to be transferedt. I asked her how I would go about my fiance's request to be transferred. These lies and hostile attitude and treatment are the very reason he dose not want to be alone here amongst his medical conditions. They are only upsetting him. The director stated HIPPA because my fiance has a roommate. My fiance had a valid point. All medical info is usually discussed in the day when I am allowed to be here. He even asked the roommate if me being here was an issue for him . PS it was the nurse who wanon shift last night that was glad I was staying to calm fiance when he woke in a start and confused .I asked if they had an obiudsman and the director didn't know what one was . It states right on the visiting hours posted on line that one adult can stay with a patient from the hours of 8p to 6A. I believe this all started with the nurse who is on her high horse. The hospital is abusing my fiance's rights.

Stacy Rodriguez

Inhumanity is their specialty!those who have true emergencies need not apply! Had so many BS lies told to me they couldn’t keep what they had told me straight. Would hang my head in shame if I ever carried myself in the manner not only the drs, Pa’s, RN’s carried themselves! Wouldn’t have my dog treated here, steer clear of this place AS YOU DO NOT MATTER to anyone their including with the security, patient advocates or federal regulation for the “patient care act” total and utter disregard for definitive diagnosis etc.

Jen Mosley

I dont know if this was addressed but i saw a post about two housekeepers, one black, the other spainish. The Spanish one says hi to me all the time but i do have to point out the rear-grabbing I see between him and the black girl. It's way too unprofessional.

Serxhana Kajtazi

Dont go here and dont have them bill your health insurance company for the rude and uneducated 'care' they give you. I told them to transport me to umass where i can get taken care of and they didnt. The nurses are rude and stupid. Go to umass memorial or campus, just dont go here. Its a shame the health care team absolutely sucks because its such a beautiful hospital. I would give no stars if i could.

Matt Rousseau

The care was amazing that my dad received. The part that was less amazing was $202 of my dad's being stolen from his belongings that were held by staff outside of his room. My favorite part afterwards was the person in charge of things like that basically saying "Yeah, sucks that it happened, but he didn't sign for it to be locked up so it's not our responsibility.". Oh okay, good to know that when a patients belongings leave the room BY STAFF the staff aren't responsible. I could keep going but the hospital doesn't care. I wouldn't recommend this hospital to anyone, if I got shot on this hospital's door step I'd ask you to take me to any other one.

The Nurse Denice was so cruel to me, and few other staff, but she was the worse they kick me out. I had a miscarriage and I have been in pain over a week, the ER staff was nice to me, they took care me and did emergency surgery on me. But where I was to recover Denice treat me horrible. She told me I took my child out and went to work the next day. That I am a woman I have to do everything myself, who cares you in pain get out. The doctor was telling me I am not in pain and I was never pregnant, get out of the bed and do everything yourself. I will never go back there because first they do not know how to treat people had a miscarriage. Denice the Nurse needs therapy how to treat people.

I have been trying to find out who to file a complaint with at this hospital and keep getting the run around. My mom was inpatient from 12/25 to 12/29 at which time she was sent to rehab. Sometime between 12/27 and 12/29 one of her medications was discontinued. Can't get an answer from anyone as to why. It's on a consult list on the 12/27 but not on the discharge paperwork on 12/29 (not even under medications that were discontinued). This led her to get a UTI while at rehab and had to go back to the hospital (a different one this time) for well over a week and then back to rehab. This is definitely poor medical practice and should never have happened.

Alex brea

The staff is nice and friendly. but i felt that the Doctor takes to long to show up between times.

I don't usually write reviews but my horrible experience in the emergency department today has prompted me to. I was taken my ambulance to the ER around 7:30pm. The shift nurse was very nice. I only saw the doctor twice. I was discharged at 5:00am, half asleep. I was getting up and vomited at the end of the bed, on the floor. I fell back to sleep and was abruptly woken by the, who I later found out, was the charge nurse. She was demanding I leave the room as they needed it for someone else and I'd been discharged 1/2 hour ago. I tried to explain I had no ride, as it was too early. She told me to go wait in the waiting room. All my test results came back normal, but I still felt no better. I got up to get dressed and use the bathroom, the charge nurse asked if I knew where the waiting room was, I replied I did, I was using the bathroom. Sitting in the waiting room, with no shoes, 24 degrees outside, I asked the triage nurse if there was a social worker I could speak with. Her reply was no, it was 5:00am. I asked if they gave cab vouchers and she said no, she could give me a bus pass. I said I have no shoes and have no idea how to take the bus. She offered to find me a pair of shoes. I then told her I would like to appeal my discharge. She replied I couldn't do that. I asked, I can't appeal my discharge with Medicare insurance? She then told me she would get the charge nurse to speak with me. So I was approached by the charge nurse, triage nurse and the security guard. The charge nurse was extremely rude and I was upset and crying. At this time I hear the security guard requesting back up. The charge nurse told me I was discharged and I needed to leave the property. I was not rude up until this point, just upset and crying. I was able to arrange a taxi through yellow cab, who agreed to accept payment when I reached my home. I left with yellow cab and will be using UMASS from now on. Sadly, after 23 years of using St. Vincents hospital when rarely needed, I will not go back because of the way they treat their patients. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone, even my most disliked person on the planet.

I asked for a breast cancer screening, to see if I had a probability of having breast cancer, given my family history. After a thorough screening, the oncologist seemed to think that I should have the blood test done, given my odds. The receptionist at St Vincent's Breast Center explained that my insurance company (Blue Cross) had recently changed their policies surrounding cancer screenings, and that they wanted to wait until they had established communication with the insurance company before proceeding. I spent an hour working with Blue Cross, who offered a direct line and contact for St Vincent's Breast Center to call. A week later, the receptionist let me know that they hadn't tried the number yet, but still hadn't had any success on their own. Three weeks later, they let me know that they'd call me back to help me. No word yet. I would advise going to the Breast Center at UMass. Skip St Vincents!!

Black female housekeeper and the tall Latino one were seen ALL LAST WEEK hugging, kissing and feeling up on each other through the evenings. Didn't know we could be sexual on the job. No one does anything about It!

I was seen jn the Er on 7/20/2018 with An extremely stiff neck, swollen glands, sore throat and a fever. I’m not one to complain but i never have fever so this was new to me. I was treated pretty well by staff so that wasn’t a complaint as I was seen pretty quickly after Arriving at the emergency room but ended up being there six hours +. I was seen and told I needed a ct scan of my neck to rule out a serious infection. I was given fluids as I was severely dehydrated and a dose of steroids and told “I had a virus and to drink and rest”.all test results coming back “normal” . being given steroids I felt amazing for two days afterward(this was a Saturday) By monday night I was sicker than ever and ended up in urgent care on Wednesday where the doctor explained my white blood cell count had been 15 in the ER that night and I had a “enlarged gland” in my chest.. I was prescribed antibiotics for strep (not type A) and slowly recovered.. ended up being sick for most of 3 weeks.. fast forward to today 10/5/2018 I am scheduled for surgery at this same hospital because I have a tumor in my chest (thymus tumor) that may or may not have been the route of all evil... where have we gone wrong???

Gina Gagliastre

This hospital has one of the worst ER departments I've ever seen! A nurse had the audacity to try to diagnose me when I came in for something totally unrelated! Another lied to me! This is blatant malpractice as is the wrong diagnosis they gave me another time! They're cruel as they discharge homeless people in the middle of the night leaving them out in the streets in the cold instead of keeping them till the morning so they may rest and be in a safe place! This includes those who are seriously physically ill and disabled! I'm a former dental hygienist and a human rights advocate. Bathroom paper towel dispensers don't work! Police officer just harassed me! My advice is to stay away from here.

My mother DIED because of the incompetence of this hospital. She went via ambulance because she was in immense pain unable to swallow with burning pain in her throat at a level 10 for 3 days with shortness of breath. She also complained she had discomfort in her chest. She had previously gone to Ready Med 2 days prior and they diagnosed her with GERD, a condition she did not have. They told her to get over the counter meds to alleviate the systems. After 2 days of intense pain, she arrived at ST. Vincent ED. Her chart revealed she was on mexthotrate for rheumatoid arthritis which resulted in a compromised immune system. Her white cell count was dangerously low at 1.4 The chest X-ray noted upper lobe nodularities. They DID NOT do a throat culture. She was discharged with a prescription for a ppi.for acid reflux. Two days later she was admitted vis ambulance. The infection was spreading. She spent 5 days in Critical Care. Each day her condition deteriorated till she had multiple organ failure and died. She was a vibrant healthy woman who complained of inability to swollow with all the signs of a full blown infection, yet she wasn’t admitted and when she returned 2 days later,it was too late. My family’s pain is excruciating. This SHOULD NEVER HAPPENED. This was preventable. Someone needs to be accountable. It is my desire to spread this information to as many as I can till someone acknowledges wrong doing.

The nursing staff are simply wonderful!

Horrible. First time to an ER after moving from the Boston area over a year ago. The floor is disgusting. There is used gauze pads, one even has blood on it, used leads & bandaid wrappers. Not to mention the dried black spots. The floor alone obviously hasn't been washed in who knows how long! I Also watched a tech take someone's blood without even putting gloves on. We Been here over two hours, and have already over heard at least three nurses complaining about patients to security officers, and one over the phone. This is definitely our first and last time to this hospital. Honestly can't wait for his discharge papers. The nurses are speaking openly about personal issues & patients. Clearly this isn't a Boston hospital.

I need to speak with someone that has some type of authority. I have a pregnant girlfriend who is not being treated fair and been given the run around. I need to speak with someone imediately about this matter. We are not happy at all and I will continue to voice my unhappiness until this is resolved. This is causing my girlfriend legit pain and suffering. My unborn child is at risk because of all of this. Income and her job is at risk because no one wants to help.

bree coarr

I see dr. Izzo in neurology and he's very thorough and an actual nice dr.

Tammi Goguen

First time at this ER. I was impressed. They were very busy, but we didn't have to wait for any length of time to be seen. Very quick. To me, this is how an emergency department is supposed to run. Everyone busy doing what they're supposed to be doing. Excellent care by the Dr. we saw and the nurses!

Lisandra Ramos

Dr.Shah is amazing very detailed and efficient but Maritza his medical assistant made me feel comfortable .I will definitely refer family and friends.Thank you !

Broke a tooth on Christmas day, went to the ER. After an hour and a half curled up in the fetal position in the waiting room, I started screaming in pain. They called security on me. THE MOST USELESS EMERGENCY ROOM I HAVE EVER SEEN. I got a message from the hospital saying they would like to follow up with me directly. Well, pull your records from Christmas day, you'll find that I checked in but was never examined. Further, the efiminate pipsqueak at the desk snapped at my 80 year old mother (who drove me because I couldn't see clearly through the blinding pain) that "it's just a toothache, he's not going to die from it"

My son has had a complex problem for some time now and we have interacted with nearly countless doctors/PAs/nurses - with 8 hrs of chest surgery, 7 days in hospital recovery, followup, etc. There have been a couple of disappointments but overall, everyone we've encountered has operated at a high and caring level - and I can't say enough good things about the nursing staff and the housekeeping staff; simply phenomenal. I don't know who these people are who seem to hand out the single stars on a whim. At worst, I might give 3 stars to one person in billing, but that was a rare exception. I think St. V's is one of Worcester's jewels.

Christine Weagle

I was just in the ER Thursday night through early Friday morning (3/8/18-3/9/18). The way I was treated was horrendous.I was brought in by ambulance with excruciating back pain, so much so that I was curled up on my side. I had one person take my vitals, and said a doctor would be with me very shortly. A good hour went by and no one came to talk to me. Then another nurse came in and said to me ok lets get you up and have you pee in a cup. Which my response was that I couldn't, because if I tried to straighten my legs my pain went from a 7 to a full blown 10 including tears and screams. Her response was well we won't help you till you see in a cup. My husband and I were appalled we came to realization they were treating me as an addict instead of actually helping me with the pain I was having. Time kept going on and then finally somebody came in and said oh it will give you an IV of fluids and they gave me one pain medication. They didn't come back in my room until the whole IV bag was gone basically to the point where my bladder felt like it was going to explode. I had to go the bathroom but again they said while your options are a bedpan or going and getting up and walking into the bathroom to go because we need a sample. I tried using the bedpan but with them trying to hold me up so I could go it was so excruciating I couldn't so I had to go back down in the excruciating pain crying. The nurse is like fine I'm going to go get you morphine and maybe that will help you get up and walk to the bathroom so we can get a sample out of you. I got so upset after finally calming down of hyperventilating crying because I was in so much pain from them holding me up I said I did not want any medicine I wanted to figure out why I was in so much pain and why weren't they trying to figure it out it wasn't right. And only then was I brought in for an x-ray which again was excruciating and still by the end of that I had to use the restroom. They wouldn't use a catheter because I'm 31 I obviously couldn't use the bedpan so they turned around had 2 people basically trying to hold me up to get to the bathroom because I couldn't put the pressure on myself to get in there. After all that was said and done when I got back to my room still in excruciating pain of being shifted and moved in my x-rays came back they didn't see anything and they said well we're going to give you one medication and send you home we're going to give you two things to be at home with and sorry that's all we can do go follow up with your primary care doctor. I have never been so poorly taken care of in my entire life I understand that there are people out there that yes will go to an ER just so they can get a fix for their drug habits but I am not one of them and I resent the fact I was treated that way I would never recommend anybody ever going there ever. And I would love to file a more in-depth complained with somebody in the hospital. Nobody should be treated that way.

Just save yourself the trouble and go to a hospital where they will properly assist you and not lie to your face. This place is filled with incompetence and if you go here you will have to deal with that in the worst ways from beginning to end. I went here because my I had been having severe abdominal pain (This included nights of crying in bed from pain and vomiting continuously) and after an Ultrasound at a Readymed+ they said I need to go to a hospital. They determined that my gall bladder was filled to the brim with stones. I went on Wednesday and the emergency room triage tried to set me up for the surgical procedure ASAP. The surgical team decided to postpone the procedure because the site is "tender". So after buying their story they admitted me because the gall stones were so painful I could not eat. I was unable to eat since Tuesday and made this very clear. They attempted to tell me this would be an electoral surgery and after I went over the fact that it was preventing me from eating which would not make this a choice, but a requirement; they agreed. So now we all agree the surgery needs to happen. The thing is it keeps getting postponed. They kept telling me the site is tender so we need to postpone the operation. Like an idiot I believed them. However some of my nurses slipped up with info. They advised me how they were surprised I hadn't had it completed on Friday because the surgery team wanted me in there the day before, but was too busy. Woah. So there is our first discrepancy. I was able to verify it with other staff members as well. On Friday they said that would be the day of the operation and they would let me know a time in the morning. Well noon rolls around and no one can tell me a damn thing. I let my nurse know if they do not do this today I want a transfer as that is my right. 2pm rolls around. So I request the transfer be initiated because they still haven't even given me an idea or a time window and we are definitely past the morning now. Around 4pm they pull me to the OR as the last operation of the day. They only squeezed me into their schedule once I threatened to go somewhere else. Think about how sad that is as a motive for care. I'm sure they would have loved to leave me there eating & drinking nothing with only an IV giving me anything because you make more money that way and they lied to me so they could make more money. Had I been given honest information I would have transferred to another hospital way earlier. You'd think that is where the nightmare would end though right? Dead wrong though. Even the paperwork and prescription they sent me home with had issues. My prescription for painkillers was signed only by a Nurse Practitioner whom I never saw and doesn't have the authority to prescribe them. My return to work authorization wasn't signed by a doc, but by a Nurse Practitioner whom had never even looked at or talked to me. So I come onto the review site from Google to look into other people's experiences. Now I'm pretty darn good with names and familiarized myself with as many names as I could at the hospital. A lot of these 5 star reviews are left by the hospitals own staff and that is quite a conflict of interest. So far this place has left a disgusting taste in my mouth and needs to do some serious overhaul because right now this hospital is morally questionable and has some obvious issues.

Hands down the WORST emergency room! They asked for samples after losing them for the second time, they asked to get blood work when someone had already done so 10 minutes ago and when she attempted to draw blood she couldn't, I saw not one, not two but three different PA's that asked me the same exact questions without knowing the other ones had already spoke with me and let me not forget the leaking urine sample they left on my bed by my legs. Oh, and did I mention this was all after I waited for 7 1/2 hours! To top it all off, when I decided I had enough bc they couldn't figure out where my result were the PA started giving me attitude and told me to "just leave" or "let me tell you how you might die if you do leave." Thank you for making me feel care for and safe St. V ER staff. P.S. I didn't die after I left your facility.

Donald G Lagasse

Daughter just had her baby there. She loved the attentive, caring, intelligent staff and promised a return visit in the future!

SELENA WHITE

Always plenty of parking, will stamp your ticket for free parking as well. Doctor's are top notch, building is fabulous!

Joaquin

Horrible. Absolutely horrible! You could die in their waiting room floor before they get to you. And when they do finally call you hours later they laugh at you. Don't take their hypocritical oath to do no harm. Should of took my chances and drove to presbyterian in Albuquerque. Very bad experience. Wish there was another hospital in Santa Fe.

The emergency department at this Hospital in 2015 and 2016 were terrible. There's zero compassion for people in pain and anxiety. The triage abuses medical records and the resident surgeons suck. They don't care because to them you are just an experiment so they can pass medical school and move on and thinks they're Gods. I almost died from septic shock twice. The second surgery they almost lost me on the table because the anesthesiologist involved didn't know how to properly sedate me. They refused me medications that were helpful to me making it difficult to deal with pain. The worst part is they loaded me up with opioids and sent me home with opioids telling me that the dose was not high enough to become addicted to. I don't like the feeling opioid brings. Pain is necessary because it tells you that something is wrong. They overmedicated me with four different opiates within a week and when I checked back with medical assistant at a nearby Clinic I was told there's no way I would have become addicted within a week. It is b******* because when I got home I thought that I was going to die when I took Dilaudid. So I stopped at cold turkey and went through 3 days of absolute hell. I was fortunate enough to be at home but recovering from the surgery took me more than a year. They are negligent. The only surgeon there that deserves any credibility for his hard work is named doctor Tom Tomczyk. He bust his ass to help people and is kind and compassionate and cared. The general surgeon lie to me about my condition because he needs to go back and study pathophysiology. A condition called hidradenitis suppurativa or more simply stated acne inversa was causing the problem that I had which was excessively painful. He prescribed a medication a compound to help me recover. The general surgeon just told me to do sitz baths and keep the wounds clean and that I probably develop a fistula that might require further surgery. Well guess what I healed it on my own and if anyone is interested on how to do that I would be willing to share it at no cost. It's called alternative medicine. Patients have the right under bioethics to make informed decisions about their health and try alternate forms of treatment. My fistula healed. My formula for the condition healed and I was able to avoid surgery for a third time. He took the time to listen and I promised I would give the list of medications that were helpful to me. All I ask in advance is to be given a chance to develop the compound myself. It is ridiculous to have to spend $60 on a tube of Vaseline with a heart medication. Cutting people open and doing routine surgeries have crippled people and disabled people who are trying to get healthy. The whole pharmaceutical industry along with the crooked administrators of the hospital should be ashamed of themselves

Both of my aging parents have been patients at this hospital within recent months. Every staff member that I have encountered has been warm, professional and always willing to go the extra mile, no matter what it took. Worcester is very fortunate to have a medical facility staffed by people of such a high caliber.

Stacey Smith

Doesn't even deserve one star. Horrible won't be going back. Went in for chest pain and breathing issues .. Basically brushed me off .. Gave me and bed and had me sit for 2 hours without being seen by anyone, while I watched the staff gossip.. So I left untreated.. I went in at 12pm so wasn't busy at all.. There was absolutely no reason I wasn't seen sooner. Just horrible.

michelle tappin

Treated like garbage in the emergency room last night and then given someone else's prescription..I will never go here again for an emergency.

jameeli wozniak

I was recently a patient at Saint Vincent Hospital in Worcester. I was so impressed by the service that I received. I would never go to any other hospital. My care started in the Emergency Department and all of the staff were caring, professional and attentive. During my stay I was admitted to 24 North and there too, the staff do an amazing job. Even the nurse leader Cindy came to check on me every day. I even had a visit from the Chief Nursing Officer Joann P. who told me she frequently meets with patients to see how their stay is going. All of the departments (Radiology, lab, transport, housekeeping, food and nutrition services) always made sure my comfort needs were met. Peggy from food and nutrition services remembered that I like to have tea in the morning and she made sure I had a tea every day. I would never go to any other hospital for care, they truly earn their 5 star reputation every day.

Mark Sahagen

I think it is an excellent hospital and I've been treated very well there The staff is very friendly and courteous The staff that I have encountered have good attitudes That is something that I have R ARE LYfound IN any of the other hospitals IN WORC EST ER

Kathryn Tagg

The delivery nurses are truly the most dedicated, caring and inspiring women. If I could give them 10 stars I would!

l aponte

I also was taken by ambulance tonight. I was treated so badly that I actually got up and walked out without them even acknowledging me. I have e very serious medical condition...

Lisa Groves

Recently my 87 year old father was admitted to the emergency room and then admitted. I would like to thank everyone on the staff who cared for my father. The care was outstanding, every concern was addressed, and I'm happy to report that thanks to their quality care Dad was able to return home. Your expert care will always be our first and only choice. Thanks so much.

I’m going to say in specifics do not go here at night never met a larger group of people who are all so unbelievably miserable. Also I was chased and beaten by security guards before having complete restructural jaw surgery, really epitomizes Worcester’s trashy look.

Ivyrose Hoyle

I have been to St. Vincent’s two times in past week. As I am on new medication and I’ve been experiencing severe panic attacks. I’ve never known what a panic attack was or how to control them. When you mention *anxiety* to doctors and nurses, almost all of them treat it like it’s no big deal. They basically tell you that you’ll be fine and go home. HOWEVER I was in the ER last night Friday March 8th, my nurse during this time was Meagan (blondish purple hair). Not only did she make me not feel crazy but she talked me through a lot of it. She delt with my incessant questions of worry and talked me through each medication before connecting them to my IV. The staff was amazing ESPECIALLY Meagan!!! Thank you for taking care of me and making me feel like a human!

Megan Sanborn

Obviously if you merit being in the hospital it isn't going to be a fantastic time. But the nurses and doctors were all very sincere and helpful, I truly felt that these people cared.

Queen Estela

they are too slow and don’t check up on patients

I hate to agree with everyone here but the some of these stories are true . I went in this morning with really painful lymphnode by the jaw that hasn’t stopped in a little over a week and have been taken ibuprofen around the clock with just minimal relief. I sat through 3 hours waiting for blood results and the nurse there told me everything looks fine on my blood work and she has my discharge but can’t give me discharge until the doctor says so . Doctor Shapiro comes over to a room next to me and ends up talking about Israel for 45 minutes with another man while I was there in pain . All he suggested is I wait another two weeks. I told him what should I do as I maxed out on my daily dose of ibuprofen and have been taking amocillin for 3 days with no relief and he said mix and match Tylenol with ibuprofen . He said just wait it out . Then was gone for another hour where I decided to leave without discharge papers and honesty the nurse made no attempt to even stop me . The nurse and staff are great but not the doctors . Hospital visits are very expensive and for me to sit there for 3 hours with no help from the doctor to tell me he doesn’t know to just wait it out . One of the worst hospitals and experiences I’ve had . At some point tonight . I wouldn’t have come to the ER if it wasn’t serious pain for me . I’m going to another hospital but I’m definitely thinking of going to be opening a claim against them if the next hospital finds something . I’m heading to another hospital tonight and will update as time goes on . My question is if many people as me are having these issues why hasn’t the directors or chief doctors addressed these issues ?

staff fluctuate between being friendly and being rude, as with most places where anything but robots are employed.Unfortunately, I believe low staffing has contributed to poor bedside manner in the PCU. When family members are asking questions about the treatment plan that haven't been explicitly told to them already, under no circumstances should the response be "Hurry up I have work to do." Under no circumstances should a family member or patient hear the phrase "I wish we had visiting hours like the old city hospital; 8-9am and 1-2pm." I'm sorry, I don't care how understaffed you are. This is just a terrible way to treat people.

Richie B

Every company, every hospital, every department and every staff member has problems. Patients do, too. There are good things and bad things. Somethings we understand, other times, not so much. We're all human beings with the same flesh and blood. Our bodies are destined to fail yet science strives to keep it running. Sometimes when death does come we're not prepared. Lacking extreme incident coping skills, we become angry and judgmental. We lash out. There are causes we understand but reasons we don't. I was taught by my parents to cherish and respect our healthcare professionals. I might not be "happy" with the service and care, but when over a billion people (same flesh and blood) don't even have access to fresh, potable water...who am I to complain about nurse Ratched and all things healthcare she represents? So I swallow my pills, take the shots and eat the food. I still flirt with the nurses, laugh with the admins and scold the doctors. It's all good from my bed. Can I have some water now, please?

Stephanie Diaz

Worst experience ever!!!! Horrible ER staff. Came in on 5/8/17 and the wait time was 4.5 hours in which I waited. I was throwing up in the mean time & asked the triage nurse for some saltines & Tylenol. She was very rude and said when ever I get a chance I will. She could've said it in a nice way. I understand ER can be busy Ive worked in the emergency room for 3 years myself. She took 1 hour to even get back to me with saltines after I been here for 4 hours in the waiting room vomiting. Worst service ever!! Do not waste your time.

September Forbes

I recently had surgery here. Excellent care, great staff (PCAs, nurses, PAs, housekeeping and food service) and it's a very clean facility!

Everyone in the ER was so helpful and informative. i was immediately brought in to be seen and out within about 5 hours. Even the insurance staff the next day were great to deal with, they knew who I was by name. This is definitely my hospital of choice

Jerry Lashway

It was alright. But they failed to provide timelines thatd have helped!!

Leif Torres

The nurses where professional and seemed to really care about giving me the best possible care. Always asked if I needed anything else or if they could do something more for me. If I had to be sick again, I wouldnt go anywhere else for recovery.

Josephine Martin

I just overheard a black female housekeeper and a latino male housekeeper hooking up in a storage room next to the patient room my aunt is in. Unless I missed some kind of memo, someone ought to remind the housekeeping department that sexual intercourse isn't in the job description.

Tinabean_Flies

The care is great and the doctors are very calming.

Josh Ruggiero

This place is run by greedy, inconsiderate imbeciles and I wish with all my heart I could talk to the board of directors and tell them that to their faces. I never ever leave reviews but I am so disgusted with everything about this place, the inefficiencies included that I felt compelled to leave one. The nurses and doctors are fine but the hospital, company, and over all culture itself is more horrible than you could ever imagine. I truly believe these morons are still in business soley because of the fact that the majority of their “clients” are super low income so these poor poor people are forced to put up with whatever BS St. Vins puts them through because they have no alternative. Whatever you do, DO NOT come here. This place is disgusting and praying on you.

Ally Entertainment TV

Abyssmal quality. I showed up at 12AM 9/12/17. The wait to be "seen" was about average. However upon following the nurse I was directed to a bed where I laid for 2 1-2 hours before I even had so much as an acknowledgement that I was a patient. After some tests were done it was decided I would have to see a gynecologist. At this point I explained how I work night and I usually eat dinner around 3AM. However the staff refused to feed me nor let me have any fluids. So fast forward 8 hours and I'm wondering where the gynecologist is since I am literally starving at this point. This hospital left me starving for more than 18 hours for a doctor and a test that never even showed up. I was literally begging them to let me eat food. This place is not concerned over your well being. The nurses act friendly but they do not convey messages at all. Note that at 6PM I was FINALLY allowed to eat. BUT I was informed that the Gynecologist whom I'm been starving myself for all day has went home....

Cindy Ornelas

They are the best especially nurse Laura and Gigi they are so caring thank you for taking care of my son on 2nd floor room 2012

Shri Garg

The nursing staff and other lower staff is good and helpful. The building and environment is great. But the Doctor and management staff is terrible. Nothing gets done for days and patient just suffers. Before they attend a patient, he/she goes through such a torture that he becomes patient even if he is not or God will take care of him. I would never take my patient in this hospital ever unless there is no other choice. Half the Doctor don't know what they are talking about.

Charlene Orlowski

My daughter in law and Son were there to have their 1st child, the nurses and midwifes were fantastic! But let us talk about the parking lot, most cars took up 2 spots and no one Monitors This, the tickets Kiosk don’t work or the bar codes don’t scan, I had to pay twice everytime I left the hospital!!! When I went to information to report this, she called the lot and handed me the phone, whoever I spoke to was very rude blaming me for the kiosk not printing! She eventually came up and Reimbursed me for the first time, I didn’t want to go through that again for the next 3 times it happened! Something needs to be done with this issue

Randy Nelson

This is for the GI department. Firstly, the nurses were very friendly and tried to keep my spirits up, but I had an endoscope, and colonoscopy and it was an EXTREMELY unpleasant experience. They did not properly sedate me, I kept telling the Jerk doctor how uncomfortable I was as a camera and water blasted through my body and he kept saying something along the lines of "your fine" AND I watched the whole thing on the screen. I cannot get the entire procedure out of my head. The nurse said I shouldnt remember most if any of it but she was wrong. I remember basically 80% of it very clearly , and of course as I predicted, they found nothing and always give basic, nothing answers you can find on Google.

Why do you have a fully functional online ER check-in that I spent time filling out all my personal and health info, only to show up at the hospital at my given appointment time and told they know NOTHING about online check-in?

Dorothy Millhofer

I had a very recent mastectomy this Columbus Day (10/8/18) and I can't tell you how incredible my experience was with the St. Vincent doctors, nurses and support staff. My surgeon, Dr. Alosi, and other Drs. Narula nd One were so caring and professional...I knew I was dealing with the very best team in the breast cancer field. My RN shift nurses, Lori and Crissy and NP Billy Anabaka patiently answered all my questions and made sure I was comfortable after surgery and had all care instructions before I was released to my family the next day. The PCAs Fremah, Lorare, and Aubru kept me laughing and smiling. The room was quiet and comforting. And, I might add that my family loved the atrium where they relaxed while they waited for my surgery to be over. I left the Recovery Room with my sister and we walked around the third floor looking at the beautiful watercolors done by a Canadian artist I love. Two final "thank you"s to Joanne Piedrafite, CNO, and Jameeli Wozniak, Nurse Leader. This review is from my heart...I have had three terrible surgeries at UMass Memorial where I had to beg to go to the bathroom, the food was uneatable, and I couldn't wait to get to rehab, just to get out of there. I also fell when going to the bathroom...there was just no support. I tried many times to reach the nursing station and nobody picked up. So, to all St. Vincent staff: thank you for your excellent care!

Jane Smith

In recognition that we were at the St. V's ER at a time that patient traffic was solid but not maniacal, our experience could only be classified as truly excellent. Doctors, nurses, support staff were not only knowledgeable and professional but responsive, informative and personable. The entire operation worked like a well-oiled machine. "Very impressed" rating from very appreciative folks.

Greg Aldrich

I was at St Vincnents on 6/27/17 for out patient surgery. Frankly for most of the day I was treated very well. There were two issues that have me mark my rating down to a very low result. The first is that my surgery was delayed 1 1/2 hours and I got no updates about the status unless my wife went and sought out an update. How difficult can it be to let someone know what is going on. The second and the more severe issues is that at the end of the day I was sent away in sever pain and nauseated with no medication accept to take Ibuprophen. My surgeon is clear he directed that I be given the proper medication. Yet inspite of my concern and his direction, it was like someone was more concerned about getting off at the end of the day than my care. I really felt like I was being pushed out the door with little concern for my well being. Later that evening my Surgeon assured me that St V.'s staff is usually pretty good, but that does not alter how I was treated.

Tina Irizarry

Horrible experience in the ER. Came in at 730 didn’t leave until almost 1 AM. My family member had palpitations and was sent here from urgent care and an EKG wasn’t done until 1130 PM. Complete waste of time. I thought this hospital was better than UMASS but I was completely wrong. Doctor was extremely rude. Never again.

Elizabeth Folsom

When they run out of options to treat you or you can get up on your own and walk, they show you the exit and tell you to follow up with your primary care. Recently my mother was in the hospital due to her left eye being scratched, rendering her temporary blind in that eye, and blood work showing extremely low Vitamin D and Potassium. For two days and one night she stayed, unaware of what was going on, paperwork being shoved in front of her face when she could barely see already. Her medication was unorganized as well. Being her proxy and her daughter, I had asked if my mother was given her medicine on time. Right in front of me, I was lied to. They have given her one medication she no longer takes, and her scheduled medications, some needed at nighttime, were given to her through an IV at the same time. Another one was even doubled in milgrams. I said “she doesn’t need them all at once. Who authorized her have them all at once?” The nurse replied “The doctor did”, which I replied “may I speak with him/her or her nurse by any chance?” I was told they were all busy, and my mother didn’t want me to stay any longer than I had been staying, that I should go home and rest. She doesn’t remember anything from that night night which is very concerning to me. Well now she’s home because they signed her out, (due to her getting up on her own and going to the bathroom/not waiting for a staff member to help out cause they were nowhere to be found), she is worse than when she went in. We have discovered during the time she was brought to the Emergency Room where she signed off her belongings under being heavily medicated, forced to sign by a staff member and unable to see properly, that her purse was moved around without her knowledge when she went for unnecessary X-rays and $109 was put into a safe, and Saint Vincent’s claims that “they don’t have the money, that it was returned”. No it wasn’t. There’s still an empty line on her paper that list the return of her valuables that is still blank. Her signature is not on it and neither is the nurse’s. The treatment she has received has rendered from trusting any hospital, unable to get the proper medication and treatment she needs, and her health is still deteriorating. Nurses and staff don’t answer questions when you have them or they get to you when they can.

Gary Farhat

I had open heart surgery. Aortic valve replaced as well as a patch on my aorta . I was happy to have an excellent surgeon Dr Bojar. He saved my life. Thank you , happy to be alive. Very grateful . Very good medical team. Your the best.

Holly Landry

Had my second child here, as a c-section (planned- he was 10lbs 4oz and I'm not a big woman) back in 2011, and the care and respect we were shown was top class. I fully recommend the birthing center here.

Jon Boid

The lady in the maternity ward next to me had a C section and had no one to help with the new baby and the nurses on the day shift where really nice to her. However I noticed at night and as the days went on they yelled at her because she could not take care of her baby. I don't want to sound racist but I noticed that it was any one with a foreign, African, Indian and Some Spanish accents yelling at her. If your pregnancy goes well that is fine. Don't come here alone or get a section here. Don't have complications. Some of these people have no bedside manner and should not work with mother's and new norms. I am glad I was with my wife and would not return to the hospital.

Joe Mike

Absolutely awful. I wish there was an option for lower than 1 star. Two years ago, I’m in excruciating pain. My knee is swollen and I can’t even bend it without screaming in pain. Tears rolling down my face pain. I get to the ER at like 7am and I’m treated like a junkie by the staff, the woman who took me in was incredibly rude the entire time. I have never taken an illegal substance in my entire life, I barely even drink. But at least I can see a doctor now, right? Wrong. Hours upon hours in the waiting room. I can feel the heat from my knee, pain even when I keep it still. I can hear the attitude from the attendants with each new patient that comes in. It’s not just me. Anyways, my name finally gets called and I finally see a doctor. They did nothing for me. They gave me Tylenol and sent me on my way, said it was just a pulled muscle. When I went to my primary care physician, I find out it was more than just that. But no thanks to the doctors or staff at Saint Vincent’s. Fast forward to two years later. I get a text from my dad telling me my mom is in the ER. She was sent by a nurse practitioner at a small clinic because they were afraid of her blood pressure tests. She also had some swelling and they didn’t have the tools to treat her there. Two years later and my mom is getting the rude treatment that I got. “Well that’s what happens when you don’t take your medication” is what the man behind the glass said to my mom. So condescending and unnecessary. How about you take in the patients without your personal commentary? We can literally hear the staff talk openly negatively about incoming patients. And then again, we’re in the waiting room for hours. No update. I finally get a text from my dad, we can visit her in her room. I go up to one of the desks and they rudely point me to the center vestibule as they talk and play on their phone. I’m not a patient, I’ve been waiting here on my mom for hours. Getting no response from the attendant in the middle, so I go back and just say I just want to see my mom, please open the door. They finally do. My mom was to be discharged for an hour. She was just waiting for her prescription. She waited in the room with my dad for an hour for her doctor to bring the papers. As we were walking in, we see the doctor who is supposed to be treating her, laughing and talking to the nurses. This is why the wait is so long. You made my mom wait in a room for an hour, when you could have been working with the patients still waiting in the waiting room. And yet another, “we don’t know what’s wrong with you, we don’t know what’s causing the swelling, here’s some Motrin.” Literally the same thing that happened to me, happened to my mom. A complete waste of time. I’ve only ever been to UMASS once to visit someone and they have much better bedside manner and overall better staff. If you are in an emergency or need any medical help, I urge you to go to UMASS. Every single person I’ve ever talked to about Saint Vincent’s has had a similar experience. They have all commented on the rudeness of the staff. Even looking at the other reviews here, this isn’t just a one time occurrence. They breed a culture of unreliability and pure unprofessionalism.

Joe Angelico

So I logged in to there website and under contact left my story. But I will again. I came in to St Vs on 7/19 and was seen in the ER. The only reason why is because UMass was incredibly busy and the online checkin at St Vs said I would only be waiting an hour. Long story short I was admitted and my stay was a week with a bone infection, I had surgery and I was very happy with how things went. I left on 7/26 with a PICC line and have been on Ancef and have a visiting nurse. The first week the VN came she noted small redness around the site and the second week same thing so on 8/11 o went back to St. Vs to have a dr look at the dr looked at it and said it was not infected. He had a PICC team PA change the dressing and I had him take a picture of the site that was red with discharge coming from it and was sent home. Today 8/16 I came in to the ER because my ID dr is here and felt for communicating it would be easier. ER was very busy and I explained that my VN said that the site looks red and dried discharge I should go get it cultured. We called the on call ID Dr. he agreed to go get it looked at. Then I was in triage and they drew labs and the nurse came over and said I am going to swab the area. I stopped her and said who is going to change the dressing. Her answer was oh I don’t know, there is no PICC team on at night. So I said you not only can’t tell me if it is infected you have nobody on staff qualified to deal with PICC lines. I asked her should I go to UMass she said go it’s your choice. Not sure but if this was you with a possible serious infection and you are being told by a hospital they can’t deal with it how would you feel? If you can put PICC lines in you should have someone trained on staff to be able to change them and change dressings at all times. You certainly do not put patient care 1st. I am now at UMass and they will be handling the PICC.

went to st v's in july, every time before i leave any doctors office I ask if I need to pay or if they need my insurance... They said I was all set and rushed me to go when I asked. NOW I got mail saying They don't have my insurance and if I don't call some number from Alabama I will get fined?! Is this some kind of scam??! I'd do 0 stars if I could

The nursing, doctors, residents, and students were fabulous. So helpful and friendly. The only reason to not give 5 stars was the food from the in house catering service was less than desirable. Actually horrible as well as slow.

My mom went in yesterday at 12pm for a procedure. My,dad got a call at 445 stating that she was still in,surgery and that she will be staying overnight. No other I,information given. I called back and spoke with the operator, provided a full spelling of my mothers last name and the operator told me she couldn't find her. Sent my call to the ER, where my mother was NOT at. Then I waa transferred back to the operator, who "tried" again to find her and still, couldnt find her, then sent me over to another department, where no one picked up. I called back, again asked for cardiology to find out that the office was closed and to call back and ask for the covering doctor. I called back again, got the same operator, she transferred me over to the covering doctor who was NOT in cardiology and was driving home at the time!!!! I called back AGAIN got the same operator and this time she transferred me to the senior operator who took the time to call a few departments to find my mother. I was able to talk to the nurse taking care of my mother and gave me some information. I am NOT happy with the operator service at St V's. They are not trained enough and do not put in the time nor the effort to help someone who is trying to locate their loved one. Considering it took 3-4 calls and the last call took 5 mins from the senior operator to find my mother.

Great hospital, especially compared to the other area hospitals! Never had a problem!

Was there 4 hours for a dislocated finger. 2 doctors to 2 stitch my finger. One lady that wanted payment for emergency call 3 times even though nothing was done. Received payment bill a week after deadline. Incredible experience, would probably die if it was life threatening problem

Personally do not understand why i furnished my email address to this institution after my previously post. No one has contacted me.

I had an unexpected exacerbation after a routine procedure which resulted in my being admitted to the Pulmonary Care Unit for two days. I was very impressed with the care I received. The Nurses and Doctors were excellent. The nurses and support staff were genuinely personable supportive and caring. I felt comfortable and was confident that I was receiving excellent treatment.

After a bad time earlier today waiting in the ER .. I reached out to a floor supervisor ( however you call this position) and decided to come back later on the night. The staff that checked me in and got me into a room quickly were very nice and efficient. It was a better experience than earlier.

I definitely do not recommend this location to anyone who is having their first or even second birthing experience. I practically delivered my own child with my husband alone in the birthing room before anyone assisted. They robbed me of my right to utilize my labor plan and even pain medication. Post partum staff was not bad, however even the one phenomenal post- partum nurse that we had is not enough to have me think twice about delivering another child there etc.

I came here with my boyfriend when he was experiencing abdominal pain during a longer course of medical issues. The staff at the intake lobby were fine, but the row of administrative staff in the ER itself was horrible. We had been waiting without even seeing a nurse in his room for a while, and my boyfriend's pain was getting worse, so he asked me to go out see if somebody could come visit him. I went up to the administrative desk and waited patiently for someone's attention for something like 5 minutes while they were completely ignorant and joking about things that were obviously not work-related. No one was looking at their monitors or desk, no one was on the phone or helping anyone else. One guy whose desk was along the wall had even wheeled his chair over to talk to the row of women in the center. Not until my eyes started watering did one person call me over and ask how they could help. It felt surreal. I know that the ER is a busy, stressful place and that my boyfriend's condition wasn't top priority. And anyone wants to let off some steam and enjoy their shift during the course of the day. But Jesus fricken Christ, get out of a healthcare job if you don't want to pay attention and treat people with basic respect. Let someone with a shred of kindness take your damn place. Disgusting.

I've had to go to UMASS several times, and always rather go to St V's. No where is perfect, but St V's leaps and bounds better comparatively.

Terrible hospital it isnt the first time i have had a bad experience either- i went to the dentist and learned an i had a broken jaw- i wven provided xrays to the staff- they made me wait around for 4 hours before telling me that they dont even have a dental surgeon on staff- when i questioned what they would normally do for a broken jaw i was told that they are an er not surgeons- but they finally tried calling around to find someone that could help- however they hadn't shown my denal xrays to them from my dentist office that showed the complete break- and proceeded to tell me that since my jaw had alreasy been broken for a week that it "obviously isn't an emergengy" -dealing with a broken jaw for a week is not a valid reason to be at the er... Pathetic help a waste of time and i wont bother with this emergency room again

Really liked the medical service I received

I recently had surgery at this hospital after an accident. I received the best care from every doctor, nurse, PCA, and even house cleaning staff. I started out in the ER and the care I received there was great too. Thank you for making the best of a tough situation.
