REVIEWS OF Mount Auburn Hospital IN Massachusetts

Worst hospital for pregnant women.

Kim Couto

They have cancelled my appts 5 times consecutively due to the provider leaving yet never following up to reschedule or fit me in. Poor customer service, this facility needs reviewing by the state.

Gina Lemus

I agree the staff is amazing however the system is horrible My Mommy was in the hallway from 10:45am till 7pm then she had the runs and they didn’t have enough staff to Assist us so she didn’t make it on time she was so embarrassed. Horrible hospital system but I repeat nurses in ER AMAZING

Zsuzsanna Kimball

They are getting way too popular and so they take more patients than they have room for. They do have to divert women in labor to different hospitals. When we called that I was in labor and going in, they didn't say they were full! We got there and told me to go to where my regular appts are, not to the delivery. They made me go to St. Elizabeth to give birth!!!! And nobody even sent a letter of apology. Do not plan to deliver at Mt.Auburn!!!

Kijja Pruchyathamkorn

Thai King9 was born here...

Mount Auburn has good doctors, but they'll bill you forever. Each doctor, nurse, receptionist, cat, and bug you see will bill you separately and there's no way to know when it'll end. It's obnoxious.

Christina Sookhoo

This hospital deserves no stars. They should be shut down. My friend went into Mt. Auburn for a small process and was under anesthesia. When he woke he had no feeling in left leg. Turns out the nurses in the room, put my friend in a position that pinched his nerve in his left leg for hours. He is now at risk of being completely paralyzed on the left side of his body. He went in for a small procedure and now has medical bills that will accumulate for his life. This hospital ruins lives.

my boyfriend had a seizure.. we went to the ER and the neurologist and all the nurses were awesome except for the main Doctor that was on the floor... she came in to talk to us and share his results (mind you this was a terrifying experience for both of us) and she took a personal phone call and left our room without sharing any of the information from the reports... she only returned because I said something to a nurse and when she did all she did was listen to his heart and then left again to check his labs which we knew were already done. her last name was Wong and I HIGHLY suggest to ask for a different Doctor. so unprofessional. if it wasn't for her, our experience would have been a lot better.

I called Mt Auburn Hospital to ask, a recorded voice comes on, of with no options that I had to ask. So I called their emergency room to ask if I could talk to someone about a problem with meds I take. Haven't been feeling good all day, and I just wanted to find out if it's the mixing the meds. Girl at emergency tells me I cant' tell you that, I say but can you get a nurse or doctor just to ask about this problem, again she tells me I can't give you any information, big help!!!! I'm glad I wasn't having a heart attack with her on the phone. She says call your pharmacy, I say it's closed, couldn't get a hold of my doctor. She was very rude with an attitude problem, so she just hangs up, what a MORAN and she is to be working at an emergency room!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Panashe Worldwide

Bad service, i got a cold and in emergency they help me really slow and not really effective! A lot of people waiting!

Kristin Casey

Friendly, caring, and professional ER staff during our middle of the night scare. Joe, Russell, Alex, & Dr. Wong made a stressful couple of hours not as nightmarish as they could have been. Thank you for the care and concern you showed. You give ERs a good name.

Tig Savage

This hospital has become the worst! The nurses need to go back to school, stop bullying the patients - They said to me "If you don't do what we request, you will not receive any medical care." They also told me repeatedly that the hospital policy was to not let the patients sleep. And boy did they make my stay hell. I was told "The only people who get to sleep are people on vacation in their own homes. So if you want to sleep, I suggest you go home." I got a rash all over me, horrible headaches from lack of sleep, an infection which required antibiotics and a yeast infection from those. I went in for food poisoning and a concussion and came out in MUCH worse shape. I should have just stayed at home and saved myself from the miserable experience of Mt. Auburn Hospital. Six years ago they said I was going to die. I think I'm still alive and kicking. I have also had a surgery for a hernia in which I got a mesh implant without information on the problems with them and have suffered pain ever since. My suggestion is to shop around and read reviews. I wish I had.

Nice staff there

Justin Buchard

I have always had a great experience at Mount Auburn. The staff from the housekeepers, nurses, case managers, & physicians have been nothing but curteous and helpful. Thanks so much for all that you guys do!

Dante Hernandez

This hospital is a joke I have been to the ER four times now within a month and each time this hospital has refused to help me they just keep kicking me out after a few hours of waiting for nothing

Daniel Plailly

RUN AWAY!!! This is the hospital of HELL! We went to the ER. The staff is extremely unprofessional and unacknowledged. The room was absolutely disgusting with nachos and coffee mugs on the floor, broken wall plugs, etc. A TOTAL NIGHTMARE! The nurses were aggressive and almost forced my fiance to get an additional urine analysis. The doctor we saw was not direct about my fiance's health issue and kept going in circle for 20 minutes before telling us his assessment of what was wrong! The nurse even left unattended the locker with needles and prescription drugs...what a disaster.... Everyone there deserves to be replaced immediately!

I can not get over the changes here in the last few years. This place has really blossomed. I had two procedures and the care I've received has been wonderful. Right down to the nurse from IR coming to check on me impatient a few days layer. Your employees go above and beyond. I've had some pretty awful hospital stays elsewhere and this place is the complete opposite. The nurse holding my hand during a procedure. Then a few days later coming to check in on me. Leaving me with a hug. That's not even mentioning the amazing endometriosis care you have here at Mt Auburn. You guys are top in the world from amount of excision specialists you have and are continuing to teach more! Thank you for giving Dr. Mackenzie the place to save the lives of me and my Endometriosis Sisters. The one thing I think you can do better on since you get so many endo sisters and we always come with allergies. You could offer more options for those of us with allergies. Also more things that are easy to digest as many of us have gastroparesis because our care was ignored for so long until we got to Dr. Mackenzie, Dr. Paent or Dr. Chatburn.

Loren Westbrook-Fritts

I was born here and I've had a pretty good life since, so, I'm pretty happy with my experience.

Denis Bustin

Excellent doctors and nurses who treat you like an individual.

Jean Clark

Competent world class care in a small Community setting. I’ve been here countless times: birthed 2 children, routine care, emergency room visits, surgeries and said goodbye to a parent, all were guided under expert care. Harvard teaching hospital.

Daisha Roberts

A water birth is very import to me so I'm very disappointed this hospital is my only option for this as the staff are rude and I'm not even sure I want to come here for prenatal care anymore

Tyler Ross

Wouldn't go here for urgent care.

Annie C Collins Suazo

My Gma passed her a couple years ago. I can’t believe I didn’t write a review sooner. My Gma had been going here for years and loved it. My Gma was at the end and was passing. They put her in a beautiful suite and let family visit. They treated her and her family very kindly. They let my brother and I stay with her. This I’m so thankful for because I got to be there for her last breath. I have a great memory of this place n the staff. Thank you!!!!

Leo

Decent hospital but dirty

Briona Ellison

This is the worst hospital to request bills and records from, they loose paperwork and just suck all around.

Neeta Tamrakar

Everything was on scheduled and staff are so friendly.

When I broke my ankle and leg they repaired me. I still walk to this day. 10/10

Norma Scolley

Always a wonderful place to get the best care! The staff is wonderful and we have great doctors. We feel so blessed

Edward Higgins

Most degrading unprofessional staff I've ever seen in a hospital.

Caryl Pereira

I was in for surgery the day after Christmas. It was just a quick outpatient procedure. The surgical floor was very quiet with just a few patients. I was instructed to be there at 12:30 and my surgery would be at 2:30. Not a big deal, I brought my Kindle for entertainment and time went by quickly. However. all I could hear the entire time were two nurses complaining, very loudly, about how poorly they are treated and how they didn't want to be there. When it came time to place my IV, I warned my nurse that I have been told I can be a difficult stick and some find it easier to go through my hands instead of my arm. He grabs my arm and tells me to "let me see what I can do." He ends up going through my hand and tells me "Wow, look at that. First try. It's like I've done my job before or something." Completely rude. He also had no idea who my surgeon was and even after looking at his name continued to call him "Doctor er...the surgeon." I could still hear him and another nurse complaining about having to be there the day after Christmas and how things were so slow, and before I was even brought in for surgery, my nurse decided to end his shift early and go home and transferred my care to another nurse who not once came to check on me. When I finally came out of surgery, my dad was told he would get a call from the doctor updating him on how I did. He never got the call. I had been out of surgery for over an hour before my dad called to get an update, and nobody could find my doctor or give him the correct information and told him to just "come pick her up in a half an hour." Mind you, we live over 45 minutes away from the hospital, which was already known beforehand. We never got an update from the doctor, because he actually went home before I woke up as well as the entire surgical team. The phone numbers I received to call to reach my doctor were both incorrect and it took me over an hour to find a way to contact him to get a letter saying I could return to work, because he had forgotten to write one the day of surgery since he rushed out so quickly. I'm just very frustrated with the entire ordeal. I hope I never need to return to this hospital again.

Mt. Auburn Hospital has always been my go to hospital. It is small enough that you don't feel overwhelmed, unlike the Boston hospitals which are massive. I've never felt like I didn't get the care I needed and, when they felt they couldn't help me, they transferred me to Beth Isreal. I have spent a lot of time in Beth Isreal so I have something to compare it too. First, parking is inexpensive here. BI is so expensive and I felt guilty asking my family to come visit me because of the expense. The food at Mt. Auburn is really good, not like hospital food of years ago. It is a teaching hospital so you have lots of eyes on you if you are admitted. This is the same at any of the teaching hospitals. The nurses are attentive and overworked like any hospital but I never had a problem getting one when I needed attention. The rooms are cleaned every day. I happen to get lucky and had a private room. Yes emergency can be a nightmare of a wait but so is any other emergency room if they are busy. On a whole, this hospital does a good job.

Franck Dernoncourt

When doing an MRI, the CD containing the results should be given afterward.

Lexin Ma

$1000 for the emergency room most basic service

Deborah Enzo's Mom

I went there with a friend and was not a great experience at the ER. It was freezing cold. The nurse wasn't happy to be there (no smile at all) and a little rude. The place wasn't clean either. Good the doctor put his finger back and you don't have to pay for parking.

Mandy

Totally inhumane medical team. Sugar-coated surgery outcome. Used a breathing tube without my consent. Couldn't find the vein and stabbed me countless times. Never did any background for what I had asked. If you have any autoimmune issues stay the hell away from this god-awful place. They do not know what care is.

Jackie Hayes

Had my baby here in March 2016. Couldn't be happier with the labor and delivery department. I used the nursery every night during our stay and they were great. Always brought my son back to the room for nursing. Get the chocolate cake when you order lunch and dinner.

Milad Mahdian

Worst ER experience ever. Very long waiting time. I was almost convinced to go to another ER before they called us in. First they asked some questions and then asked us to wait in the room for another hour until another nurse came in and asked us the same questions. Then another hour of wait until finally, a doctor came to the room.

Krysten Taylor

This is the worst, THE WORST hospital I have ever been to. I came in last week with complications with my MS and they put an IV in. After 2 days I stressed to the nurses and doctors how painful the IV sight was, they continued to just brush it off and tell me it was fine after 5 days (now the sight is red, irritated and extremely painful) an IV nurse came in and said that the IV needed to be changed and finally did. Dr Rabin and his "team" sent me home the next morning with an abcess that was red painful and even outlined in marker by the drs/nurses. After not even 24 hrs of being home I spiked a fever of 101.9. I was throwing up, the pain was unbearable and the infection had gone outside the line that was drawn. I was taken by ambulance back to Mt Auburn and was re-admitted. I am now laying in a hospital bed while not one Dr will return my nurses call. I never should have been sent home the first time. This is the worst care I've ever received. I have a severe infection.

Daniel Sprecher

Phenomenal doctors, but the organization nickel and dimes you. $45 for sending my immunization history to my school. On the flip side, the doctor figured out why I was nauseous while exercising.

Steve Smith

I called to check on my brother who was at the hospital but 3 employees could not find him. The second person I spoke with could not help for she was busy so transfer me to another person who was rude and told me to call back. I would never go to this hospital for they seem like they do not care about the patients.

Juan Coz

Great services and friendly personal!!!!!

Kurt Knepshield

Emergency room is a joke never go to the hospital to begin with and this is why got here at 1:30pm didnt get brought in till 4:30pm ok little busy got it then get tested and sit until 10pm and say nothing they can do to schedule a appointment with a specialist ok well thanks but why am I sitting here for 6 hours when the test results got back 45 minutes after 5 this is why people have to wait so long they need to speed it up you waisted 6 hours and I have kids to take care of. I wish they have the same customer service standards as any other jobs do.

Randy

I had the best experience here of any hospital, ever. From the ER to surgery to post-op to a regular bed, every nurse and doctor was upbeat, concerned, and attentive, which is all the more important when you're in tremendous pain. It's clear they've trained all their staff to a high standard of professionalism.

Dean Chuang

Agree with previous poster; terrible triage @ Harvard Vanguard. Called PCP, refused to set-up appointment at urgent care facility and insisted that I go to ER.

Simon Tacvorian

Got great care at the walk in clinic, but registration takes forever which sort of negates the effect of urgent care

Maria Foster

I have been satisfied with the hospital and staffs.I had one procedures and the care I received have been wonderful.a very positive experiences.

tabatha Gilmore

Would have loved to receive care from the great referrals from colleagues. However after multiple emails for a phone call for a month, I called to be transferred back and forth 14 times, the last one ended in tears of fruatration. Very rude administrative person I spoke with having been in healthcare admin for years, I was disgusted. Will not be using or referring services to any friends or family.

sarah ambrogne

My primary care is through this hospital but the ER and attending on Stanton 3 is condensending, rude and unhelpful. I've been having severe abdominal pain for 3 months, went to the ER 4 times, no admitting all outpatient even though my state was not at all in good health. Finally 5th time at ER I beg to be admitted, didn't help pain or nasuea until hours later. Had one additional test done and he said there's nothing they can do for me, even though I'm not eating or drinking and my pain is outrageous. Don't come here for the ER. You get incompetent people, the only thing going for this hospital is outpatient specialists.. if you don't mind waiting 2 months to been evaluated.

haider khan

I went to this hospital in a dying condition but they took care of me in one day and brought me back to life and I was well taken care of. From ER to OR and to the nurses/doctors are wonderful.

Sushma Basnet Kunwar

Awesome!

Go to Mt Auburn! I have spent too many hours at this hospital, all of which were great. The staff is always prepared, caring and well informed about our needs. No reading from charts and asking questions that make you feel like a number. EVERYONE knew why and what we needed. They asked great question and where prepared to help. The hospital feels like a community hospital. Easy parking, easy to navigate the floors and easy to drive too. Im so grateful for the staff and everyone there. I was told to go to MGH, I never got a single return call from MGH that didn't say "we can see you in 3 months (undertone... if your lucky)". I love Mt Auburn for everything it is, everything it did for my family; and the fact I know that we are in good hands... everytime with everyone there. Thank you from a worried momma... xoxox. M

Adam Foy

amazing bedside manner. positive cofertable place.

Ana Cardoso

Very friendly and caring labor and delivery team! After the labor, my blood pressure was high and it was very concerned but the Mount Auburn Team was excelent, very professional, friendly and caring.

Adi Cam

Terrible ER! We came at around 8:30pm. It's 3:30am and still nothing. It seems like they make you wait around 1.5hr for every service. So, someone goes for x-rays, they come back two hours later. Simple injury, and they will take 7 hrs to give you the proper attention. It is the worse ER I have ever been in my life. And I keep asking if they will bring the results and they don't know. Nobody seems to care. For what they charge... it is the worse. Absolutely the worse. Do not come here!!! Go somewhere else if possible. If you come here you'll be stuck forever and they will give you the worse service. I'm extremely disappointed. Will never ever ever come back here. Worse part? I'm not the only one saying this.

Lilly

I have been to this hospital multiple times, for an emergency appendectomy and again for a few cardiac related emergencies and short hospitalizations. I work at MGH but I have to say the care I got at Mt Auburn was outstanding. The facilities are super clean and beautiful and the staff was attentive, knew what they were doing and were very kind. The food was even good! I got a private room each time with no extra charge (not sure how this works but I loved it!) and the room was roomy with a big window and was super clean. I am really impressed with the care in the ER too. They always took me right in and I would wait in a private room with the door closed on a gurney bed until the doctor came in. (As much as I love MGH and know they are a great hospital, their ER experience is terrible - most people have to sit in a crowded waiting room in a chair, not very comfortable). I really love this hospital and can't say enough nice things about it - top notch in my opinion.

Unfortunately, Dr. Sherry is very unreliable. It is very difficult to get an appointment in a timely matter. However, it seems to be a very difficult task for Dr. Sherry to keep an appointment. My father-in-law has had appointments cancelled by her office, at times with no notification to him. He has found out when he arrived to the office! Transportation is not easy for him as he does not live in the city. He has wasted time and money for public transportation. Dr. Sherry is not good at returning phone calls in a timely matter either. Many times my father-in-law has called and left numerous messages for Dr. Sherry and it has taken much longer than a week for her to get back to him. Unfortunately, he is too kind to say anything negative. He is elderly, and I feel this type of care is very unprofessional.

kristie bellavance

Terrible reception staff at Pro sports Orthopaedic. Waited 20- 45 min everytime to see the Doctor. Antiquated and wasteful paperwork trail and rude.

Raunak Jain

It is an absolute shame that this Hospital is such a disgrace. Being in Boston, you would expect better service and care from a "prestigious' hospital. However, the staff is rude, unhelpful and incompetent. Also, good luck trying to get any records from them because they'll give you every bureaucratic rubbish possible even if you're on your own deathbed.

Kristen Bjork

Great hospital, caring doctors. Kidney surgery was excellent, great after care, thoughtful nurses. I have all my healthcare at Mount Auburn and am grateful for how I am cared for by these caring and compassionate physicians.

Mohammad Noshad

My wife gave birth to our son at Mt. Auburn Hospital. The days we spend there were the worst days in our lives. Although most of the nurses were very nice and helpful, some other gave us a very hard time. Specially the nurses and doctors that were with us at the time of the delivery were very irresponsible and ignorance, which made us miserable for those few hours. A simple vaginal delivery can easily turn into a terrible experience at this hospital and you may end up c-section. Try to avoid getting into this hospital if you can.

Fred Li

Terrible customer service, been here for more than 12 hours still havent seen a real dr. Just some students came and talked to us. Very disappointed keep telling them i need to see the dr and they keep telling me he wont come untill another 13 hours save yourself and go to newton.

Chelsea Everly

I had an amazing surgery at Mount Auburn. The staff was extremely friendly and made me feel extremely well cared for. My surgery went very smooth.

Richard whitehill

During December, 2017 I had minor day surgery at Mt. Auburn shortly after going in twice in 2 weeks to MGH for lithotripsy - also a minor procedure. After being at MGH twice, I was stunned at how rude and impersonal the staff were compared to MGH. No one at Mt. Auburn introduced themselves, no one said "Hello, my name is ...." - something everyone at MGH did. No one looked me in the eyes. I was just a piece on an assembly line. I did hear people complaining in the distance. No one smiled, no one stopped by after surgery to see how I was doing. When I called Mt. Auburn to ask if they did a patient satisfaction survey, I was told they don't do patient surveys for day surgery. MGH does one EVERY SINGLE time. The cover letter for the MGH survey says "we seek to provide the highest quality care. Your recent experience is very important to us". You will never get that survey if you go to Mt. Auburn. Says everything about how each hospital's values whether you are treated like a person or piece of meat.

Alyssa W

doctors were okay but not a good ER experience. Was shoved in the hallway (visible to the waiting room!) after coming in by ambulance- was left there for over an hour and a half. When I did eventually get moved into the emergency room area, I was stuck in the hallway for the duration of my stay, sandwiched between two doors. I never got a room, I was there for over six hours. I hardly ever saw the same doctor twice- and all of them told me different things- only to eventually be told there was nothing that could be done for me and I just needed fluids and bed rest, and they suddenly couldn't get me out fast enough even though I was still extremely dizzy and was having trouble walking.

Chris Dupay

Awful, the billing department is a scam. For a simple throat culture they will bill you TWO visits. One for the office visit and one for the hospital visit. This will cost you 2 copays...they won't notify you of this prior to the visit and will tell you it is their job to help you get better not inform you of what the charges will be. Find another clinic

Krystyna Collier

My first and only experience, really disappointing one, in emergency. The nurses, nice but unable to draw blood without ultrasound finding vein, not to mention I'VE placing.too much high tech dependence. I had to refuse and insist a good nurse, who placed my I'VE with no problems. Dr Khan hostile refusing me treatment and sending me home with shortness of breath like came with, in spite of positive for pleura effusion chest Xbox ray I would not recommend this er Dr Khan

Zac Whitman

The er sucks. It’s gross and it’s clear that no one knows what they are doing. Go to newton/Wellesley or treat yourself at home. There is a weird toilet/ sink in the room which is covered in trash. They leave the doors open so everyone can hear your business and frankly seeing a dr 1 time in 6 hours is insane.

Katheleen Williams

I have been a patient at the Women's Health Center for about 30 years, maybe more. There have been significant changes in this time but I can honestly say that the care I receive is excellent. I have a caring and understanding doctor whose staff, for the most part, are also very good and very helpful. I have been an inpatient a few times as well and can say, in all honesty, that I have received good care there as well with caring/empathetic nurses and doctors. Even though I have given this a 5 star rating I can say also that there are and have been some issues that have not been pleasant but the doctor/s have always been willing to work with me on those issues as well. I highly recommend this facility and the Womens Health Center specifically. Although it is Women's Health Center is it a place of treatment for men as well. I have seen many male patients in this clinic and the doctors are male and female!

deepak timsina

So much disappointed with ER department. They just kept me waiting for more than 2 hours. And still no doctor show up yet. Worst worst worst experience ever.

Apolinaras Sinkevicius

Best hospital in Boston to deliver a baby! It is the Hilton of hospitals. Amount of attention and care mom and the baby get are amazing. And as a father you are not left alone either. I also was hospitalized at Mt. Auburn on a separate occasion and was treated really well all the way from when I ended up in ER to being discharged week later. Doctors and nurses, who work in this hospital, are true practitioners of their craft. They love and care about what they do. Negatives: cafeteria closes too early (not useful when you are up 24+ hours with the baby). Plus they mess up something in probably 1/4 of their orders. Billing folks will remind you of what it is like to deal with IRS - not very helpful and are in heavy need for customer care training.

Amy Taverna

This place by far has THE BEST staff of any hospital I have EVER been to! I unfortunately had to "live" here for 2 plus weeks with my newborn who was in the NICU, and the nurses were just simply amazing. I mean, they went to levels beyond any expectations, between caring for my son and keeping me sane! The doctors were incredible and even the kitchen and janitorial staff went ABOVE AND BEYOND to make sure I was comfortable! I couldn't recommended this place more. I am so thankful for ALL of these people every single day!

katarina

My daughter went to the ER with severe pain didn't get pain meds until 1 hour later. We treat animals more humanely. I will never recomend Mt. Auburn to anyone. Shame on you letting a person suffer like that. Adding. The nurse who took care of my daughter was great. Professional and very kind.

mohamed bahaj

it's amazing hospital with a hot service care that's great to see a little hospital like that thanks to mass health care

Lisa Bastille

Why do I keep coming to this ER? It’s the worst. rude lack of care, until I finally see someone and then it’s all a rush to get you out.NEVER AGAIN.

miss mass

YOU HAVE TO COME HERE!! If you need surgery...you need to have it here! I just can't explain in words how grateful I am for this hospital and its staff but I will try. Talk about kind, generous, caring, a great blessing to my soul; these are the qualities that were exemplified by the staff here. I had stent surgery for my birthday and the nurses came in with a cake (shhh) and sang to me...I cried I was so happy! Thank you to Maria my favorite nurse of all time! I had another stent put in in 2009 and it's still going strong! Just had a little heart monitor (and I mean tiny) glued to my chest for a week called a Zio Wireless Patch wow it was so great and they could see what was going on with my heart in the hospital after I pressed the button! Amazing! The Zir Cardiac Catheterization Laboratory is the best...bar none!

Mohammed AL-Maqbal

Rude and condescending reception staff, I'd never think of this place again.

Barbara Garmirian

My husband was treated so badly by the staff of the Walk-in Center. The only positive thing about his experience was the student nurse who was warm and compassionate. Hopefully, she is representative of the future health care response to patients.

dab bro

Rude admitting!! Poor attitude huffs puffs and hang ups. Terrible to other employees. Hate ur job? Leave and work not with the public.

Kate Ruh

It was a two hour wait in the ER when I finally gave up. Don't waste your time. St. Elisabeths in Brighton is better! The staff was incredibly rude and they "couldn't promise" they weren't going to bill me even though I had to leave to find a hospital that would actually treat me before I died!!

Thomas Haupt

I was seen here. I had a good experience. Five months later received an $800 bill for a simple examination and some lab work. Come to find out, most insurances require a referral to be seen at the Walk-in Clinic, and my insurance rejected it. I would highly recommend going somewhere else for acute/urgent care. This is NOT AN URGENT CARE. They did not verbally disclose to me that there was a high probability that I would be paying out of pocket for this visit. Instead, it was written in a cryptic document. I have worked at an urgent care, and my team would be alright with knowing that our patients would be billed for so much. SEE MY BILL BELOW FOR PROOF OF BEING SEEN HERE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE. GO SOMEWHERE ELSE.

I came 15 minutes before my appointment and checked in and I was sitting in the waiting 20-25 minutes after my appointment set time. Worst place ever

Xiaoxuan Jia

A simple vaginal birth easily turn into emergency c-section. Avoid if you can.

Nicholas Pleuthner

Pathetic and insulting to the hippocratic oath which all healthcare profesionals should abide by. I will never go to Mount Auburn again. And I've been going there since 1977.

Linda Cardalino

Love this hospital. Best around. Cured my 2 different cancers. A+ Good food too.

Jacqueline Clayburgh

I am the manager of a live-in facility for disabled adults and have taken many residents to their emergency room before. Just last night I took one of my residents, Jack to the ER because he had gotten dizzy and fallen in his room. The ER staff were very attentive and quick to answer any questions we both had. They also took the time to explain everything to Jack who does have Cerebral Palsy as well as mild developmental delays. Jack was very comfortable with the staff and felt like he could talk to them without feeling nervous or scared. They ended up having to admit Jack to the hospital, and again made him feel very safe and comfortable during his transition from the ER to his room. My only complaint was how long it took from the time Jack came into the ER and then was admitted. He arrived by ambulance at 5:00PM and was not brought up to his room until 1:00AM. However, it was very busy when he arrived and I understand that because Jack was not in any serious distress he was not a priority.

Very compassionate respectful clean facilities loving nurses and doctors taking excellent care of my father

Libby Falck

Fantastic first experience here! On time apt, well organized facility, plus an extremely kind staff. So grateful to have this hospital nearby.

Edward Pendergast

From walkin clinic to emergency room to the hospital room to discharge, I could not have had a better experience. Everyone of the staff I encountered from the nice man that changed bed to the doctors, were amazing. All were thoughtful, extremely competent, friendly and took the time to thoroughly explain every step. Thank you, Mount Auburn

Rude and condescending staff

People don’t seem to understand the ER admission is based on triage. My son was admitted immediately when we showed up during Summer 2018, based on his symptoms. He’s fine because of the prompt attention that he received.

Silva Silkfern

Staff were reasonably polite and competent, BUT went to the ER and waited an hour and a half for a doctor, and then was kept there for an additional 5 HOURS (in the middle of the night) after it was determined that the illness wasn't serious, just to run tests and exams that the staff admitted were unnecessary (clearly just a money grab). Unless you know that it's serious, don't go.

I love women canter the best Nears I had ever meet all are best but here Named is Janet the way she treat here patients wow every one the best I change please I live in Lowell MA I missed this place the way they treat me they're the best !!!!

CJ LeDrow IV

Old, run down and the nurses treat you how they have been treated for years. This is by far the worst hospital I have ever been inside of in my life. Definitely the dirtiest with the LEAST attention to detail here. Such a shame in such a pretty town. Nursing is a joke for the most part. I am extremely dissatisfied and feel abandoned here. I think I'll be leaving to go and find another hospital.

Avoid Mount Auburn Hospital if you can! I went there in February because of a fracture. Had to deal with a lot of bureaucracy and a doctor that couldn't even pay attention to the basic information on my file (and almost sent me to get an unnecessary second x-ray because of that). After receiving the bill in March, I asked my insurance to send a referral to the hospital. Although my insurance has sent the referral multiple times to Mount Auburn Hospital, they deny having ever received it. In July I got a notice from a debt collecting agency. I contacted Mount Auburn Hospital myself to try to solve the problem, but they refused to even write down the referral number. The staff were rude and had the nerve of telling me this was all my fault - so I should deal with the debt collecting agency. Long story short, I went in with a fracture and got out with a months-long headache.

Nothing but positive experiences in clinics,E.R.,and,hospital admissions!(I was an R.N. for 35 years, and know what constitutes an exceptional facility, and that is Mt.Auburn!)Intelligent and professional care for the last 25 years.

Stephen Greatorex

I've tried 10 times to call so I can pay my bill, does anyone work in your billing department?

Jtem

Me: "Hi. I need some help here." Them: "Okay, we'll call you back in a couple of weeks but just to tell you to wait longer. Eventually we'll give you an appointment 5 months later, assuming you haven't killed yourself. Plus we'll be really, Really rude on the phone."

Benjamin Mills

I had a cardiac cath and stents placed, which was first class and saved my life. Everything else was straight out of the 19th century: unnecessary treatments which kept me from being able to sleep, nurses unwilling to ask MDs for changes in orders at my request, multiple medication errors, conflicting discharge orders, denial of services by the insurer due to inadequate documentation, and unresponsiveness of the Billing Department to my request for clarification and help in resolving the denial.

Michael Houle

Never go there. My initial experience was great, Tried to return was a problem. No phone to even contact them!

Asjah Monroe

I’ve met some very wonderful, kind and competent physicians and nurses. It was much better than what I experienced at Boston Medical Center. I had a few problematic experiences, but the good outweighed the bad.

I have had many experiences at Mount Auburn Hospital. I have been to their ER, walk-in clinic, and had a couple of outpatient surgeries there. Overall over the decades I have been very satisfied with the hospital and feel like I got top-notch treatment. In particular I would like to rave about the doctors at the walk-in clinic. I have gone to the walk-in clinic for pneumonia, bone injuries and an infection. The doctors are senior experienced physicians, not new residents (no offense). The doctors listen, are good diagnosticians, & provide care in a careful sensitive manner. This is highly unusual up in my prior experiences with many free standing walk in clinics or hospitals.

ER: The WORST hospital on planet earth I have ever been to. Unfriendly, unhelpful, useless and rude staff, people just don't care if you are gonna die in here. LONG LONG LONG LONG waiting and no response. This is my second time here and I will NEVER EVER stop by here even if I'm gonna DIE. Save your time and money and bring your patient somewhere else (beth israel ER is the best).

Brett Howiler

Needed some earwax removed before a flight. Figured this walk-in clinic would be like every one I have been to in the past. The time to see a doctor at the walk-in clinic was normal. Earwax was taken care of. Unfortunately you get two bills. The paperwork you get says you will. However, it does not say the fee for the hospital just for walking in is $121. A procedure that has traditionally cost me ~$40 is now $115 after insurance. I believe the fee is for registration (which takes a grand total of 10 minutes). The transaction is labeled as "WIC Brief New Patient." Almost pure profit.

This hospital has ruined my family. Please don’t go here. Please go somewhere you can trust and has good doctors. Adding on... my grandfather went for a routine surgery and they messed it up, causing him various infections and now almost 2 years later he is still suffering from. Please go somewhere else. I will never step foot in this place again.

Jahaira Jimenez

I give birth to my first child on august 2010 and i couldnt be more happier with the experience I had! Best nurses and doctors . Its like a 5 Star hotel , really recommend it

Brice Stewart

So terribly rude.

Oscar Mulder

From the ER, to the walk-in center, to the PCP and specialists, I’ve had great treatment here. Staff has always been friendly and reassuring to me, and try to accommodate my schedule. After trying a number of different hospitals and PCPs in the area, it’s been a relief to find Mt Auburn and receive care that I trust.

Christina Moon

The clinic visit went fine - I went in for a blockage in my ear and the medical staff members that treated me were all very pleasant and helpful. The problem that came up later, however, had to do with the method of billing the hospital uses. They billed the physician's services during my visit as a "hospital charge" rather than a "doctor charge" so that it wouldn't be covered by my insurance and I would be responsible for the charges. When I called my insurance company to find out why I was being billed on top of the copay that I already paid, they informed me that this was not a typical practice of hospitals and that Mount Auburn was refusing to change the type of billing so that they could essentially collect twice - once from my insurance and once from me. This is very upsetting and I will not visit the hospital again or recommend it in the future.

Dr. Mackenzie is a gift to the medical world. The surgical staff and nurses are amazing. Our daughter was in the best care from the moment we arrived. Nurse Christine went above and beyond to accommodate us so we could stay the night with our daughter. We are forever grateful. Thank you.

My son fell and cut his forehead which required stitches. Our pediatrician advised us to go to Mount Auburn and they would provide a plastic surgeon. ER resident said my pediatrician "mislead" us and that a plastic surgeon is only for a "traumatic injury." This same "doctor" stitched my son's forehead and did the shittiest job ever. He has an awful scar, despite the care I provided and made it a point to keep the scar covered from the sun for year!! I have no doubt that is I brought in a girl instead of a boy, that they would have called a plastic surgeon. Worst mistake to bring my son to this ER. But now the damage is done.

I went to the emergency room with a sick 2 years old baby at 4:00 AM in the morning, after 2 hours waiting on a room to see a doctor or a nurse I decided to go to other place. Next day I spoke with customer service and I got a nice letter apologizing for what happened. Today I got a bill for the “service” I’m glad I can make my experience public, think twice before you go to this place.

Phil Harris

Kind, thoughtful, often stays late to talk to patients and their families. Hard-working and knowledgeable. Our family loved him.

Quin Christensen

The procedure for setting a primary care provider there is a pain: one has to go to an appointment and wait for a referral, which takes months. I decided to go elsewhere in order to see a specialist sooner. They also charged me for a missed appointment that I cancelled.

Kitsune Sama

Wonderful midwives and nurses there. Gave birth to my son last week and couldn't be more grateful to the staff. Out of the 30+ staff I came in contact with (50 hour labor turned c-section)only 2 were less than spectacular. Overall great experience, didn't feel pressured to do things I didn't want to and they respected my birthing wishes. Love the midwives and nurses at Mt auburn

Teresa Lai

I went to the walk in clinic due to sprained back problem, and all I need is a referral to a chiropractor or physiotherapist as this has been the requirement of my insurance for reimbursement (I am travelling from outside US). The nurse said that the clinic does not offer referral forms but said that the doctor could have written a letter certifying my condition, but the doctor just kept rejecting saying they don't do referrals at all. WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY.
