REVIEWS OF Longleaf Hospital IN Louisiana

Matt Aime

My sister said she had the worst nurses that were incompetent/uncaring/hateful/evil in A unit, which is the most functional unit. DO NOT SEND YOUR LOVED ONES HERE. There were many times they lied about her being asleep when she wasn't just because they didn't want to go get her to tell her she had a phone call. Just pure laziness. I'm sure whenever she writes her own review it would look more like negligence.

I was in Longleaf on January 3rd till January 14th and I met some really caring people I would like to say thank u to mrs Laura on day time on the A unit and to all the overnight staff on the a unit. And of course Mr leon in maintenance u was really a cool guy. The kitchen staff yall was very polite. And miss Sam from a unit missed having u there. If u are ever thinking about taking a family member to longleaf please dont read to much into the reviews cause I read them and man was I scared to go but once I got there I could not ask for a better group of people to help me with my mental health. Again thank u to the staff at longleaf for ur help in my mental health care.

Jack Daughtry

Stay away!!! I went to visit my wife and I was told that she had hit her head but it was not serious. I know of no scans that were taken even though both eyes did not track the same. She walked in the facility and was rolled out in a wheel chair. She was in for alcohol rehab. A recent ct scan revealed she has a blood clot half way around her head next to her brain under her skull. Accidents happen but to withhold treatment is beyond belief. If you care for your loved one, don't admit.

Brei Grey

Best mental health facility I HAVE EVER been to. Northlake... sucked, Tau center eh was okay i guess. Liberty WAS ABUSIVE. And desert hills in new mexico was also abusive. Longleaf actually pushed for me to get better. They interacted more with my family and they encouraged me to use my skills AND the food was great. If i wasn't better and i could chose where to go, i would go there

Camryn Brown

This place is not a good place for kids I would not recommend anyone send their kids there at all.

Tara Diez

My 14 year old son was in there & he said it was decent but not enough activities. I'm mainly giving it 1 star because of a counselor named Gabby called me & asked if I could come up there to visit & have a session with my son his dad & his dad's fiancee. Actually his dad was only dating 3 weeks. I told her it was none if his girlfriend's business. She did not tell me I was on speaker phone until my son spoke up. I later find out from my son that his dad & girlfriend were in there too. That is unethical. By law they are supposed to tell me I'm on speaker & who is in there listening. I never even met the girlfriend so she had no business listening in on my conversation. I left message for her supervisor twice & once for her & no one returns my calls. I will be calling the Board of Social Workers & an attorney because what she did was against the privacy act. Also I called to asked her last name & they tell me they couldn't give out that information.

Working in healthcare all my life and thrilled that my other family members want to also. This has to be the most unprofessional place of business / healthcare administration I have ever seen. I cannot believe that they even pass a state survey, much less get accredited through Joint Commission. How can a place stay operational with such poor reviews. I encouraged my family member to pursue his dreams of working in healthcare and encouraged him to work in mental health because it's a much needed field , but when you have facilities such as this doing such a poor job, you have to rethink your decision. Maybe the CEO and others should read the reviews of this facility. It speaks volumes. This is a much needed facility for Alexandria, please consider revamping your staff.

Robin Plaisance

I was recently at this place and it's one of the better places to go...if you are doing the 28 day program or detox...the psych part can get a bit scary but all in all not a bad place to go if you need help. Edit: I retract everything I said. This place has gone to hell in a handbasket. Left early because I was being harassed and the meetings are not monitored. It's like blind leading the blind in the 28 day program. I am doing much better out in the world just doing IOP and AA. Not a good rehab. Too much fighting and arguing and no one does anything about it. But if you keep 17 people in a little unit, emotions will run rampant. Wouldnt suggest this place if you want to get sober. Better options out there.

Tracey Vanantwerpen

This place is a joke, treat you like you are 2, and have no respect.

Drop Dead Edits

This place is utterly disgusting. I was raped by some tech Named Guy. I was there for 3 days and still wanted to die. I was denied a phone call. All that happened was the nurses would sit on their asses all day and watch us color. I'm still not better..but you can find me more likely in hell; which is way better than this place.

Mason Hebert

They do not answer their phones and refuse to give you information on your loved ones. THEY DO NOT CARE ABOUT THE PATIENTS, JUST IF THEY HAVE GOOD INSURANCE AND KEEPING THEM THERE AGAINST THEIR WILL AS LONG AS THEY CAN so they can get money. IF YOU CARE ABOUT YOUR LOVED ONES, STAY AWAY!!!!!!!!!! This place should be shut down. Doctors "evaluate" patients negatively just to force them to stay.

Marcus West

Went to the hospital in Lafayette for an anxiety attack and was given two shots. I was completely out of it. I signed paperwork I don't even remember. Got to longleaf and it was awful. Flies everywhere vomit that was never cleaned and blood on the bathroom walls. The staff is absolutely useless. The first night there I had sleep paralysis and after trying to press the call button for the nurse I found out that the call buttons didn't work, and the staff had never heard of sleep paralysis and had to Google it. There is no therapy there just a deck of playing cards and coloring books. They keep you doped up and twist your words around to keep you confused. They never contacted my therapist or psychiatrist, which they should have. They had two separate sexual incidents while I was there that the techs did not report, rather bragged and joked about it. I told my work that I was out of town for a family emergency and was told by my Dr. that I was childish for telling them that and that prolonged my stay for 2 more days. I would not send my dog there and will be following up with social services. Don't go there.

Aubin: Archbishop of The Church of Tea

I'd rate this place lower if I could. Terrible facility. Staff are horrid. One of the caretakers named "Greg" had the audacity to tell one of the self-harm patients that he had a dysfunctional family and proceeded to make fun of his scars calling them "railroad tracks." Horrible place, unprofessional staff, questionable effectiveness.

c8tina

There are many reasons I could give this place one star, but there are a few reasons I gave it two. D. Folarin is amazing. Not only will he tweak your meds until they are just right, and he is very cool and easy to talk to. The social workers were pretty decent. A few of the techs were pretty friendly, even going as far as to play with patients at rec time. And the food wasn't super great, but it was nowhere near as terrible as hospital food. But of course, that's where the pros end. A good portion of the staff is god awful. The pregnant tech on Unit C was an absolute nightmare. Many of the techs seemed to love nothing more than arguing with the patients and having to get in the last word. One of them going as far as calling a patient a "ni**er" and a "mother***ker". And unlike what other reviews have said, they were completely unwilling to do isolation on some people that REALLY deserved it.

Nicole Vincent

I am writing this review for the parents reading these reviews. My son was at Longleaf for 4 days. When he was sent I came here to read the reviews and was horrified for my son! After the first visit I was sure my son was safe and in good hands. The facility is nice. They are separated by gender and the kids or not with the adults. If there was a question or concern my calls were returned right away. The social worker meet with myself and my husband and spent an hour explaining my son’s treatment and the program. The kids receive individual therapy and group therapy at Longleaf. The doctor worked with us to get an accurate diagnosis for my son. Of course it is boring at all mental heath facilities but that is to be expected. We were very impressed with the quality of care and professionalism of the staff.

Terry Fisher

Kevin Hick

Incredible facility. Great military program and Substance abuse groups. Food is great, and employees really care to help patients get better.

Jackie DeBlieux

If I could score less than a 1, I would. They do not contact parent on child’s history or involve them. They do not council you child on problems. The doctor assigned to your child doesn’t see your child til 4th day there. They allow male and female teens together, where some are “making out”, then “reprimand” the kids, and “counciled on the situation” the child that witnessed it, that told her parent. They allow the male and females to write all over each other with markers. No correct supervision or psychological help of therapy given for the kids problem. They don’t even have Feminine products to give your daughter when time. There is no professional structure. The social workers didn’t contact parent til 5th day, after mother had been calling for 2 days. They take a 3 day PEC, and CEC your child for up to 15 days, to make money, when they could be getting real counseling and care in the world, without missing there school, church and family. It is a joke, that our kids are paying the price for. They don’t care about the child or there parents thoughts or concerns. Dr. never once speaks to parent, and speak to child at 9pm at night on 4th day only. Then force her to be locked up for up to 15 days. More harm than good is done at this place.

Joseph Woodruff

My wife went in on her own and they still treated her like she was there under some kind of court order. Needs new management.

This place sucks

NEVER< NEVER< NEVER send anyone, to this facility........My brother stays at a nursing home in Lafayette, but Dr, McClouett, Lafayette, ORDERED him to go 100 miles away, so he could treat him. He told me there were no beds in Lafayette, which was a LIE. My brother was FORCED to smoke cigarettes, he even cried telling me that, because he did not want to smoke again. He had to be rushed to the ER at Rapides General n horrible condition from 6 days here. The Doctor NEVER saw my brother, he had a planned trip out of state during his stay at Longleaf....Even though he said he would see him everyday and information me....He never saw him, and I was NOT TOLD where he actually was, until I got the call from the ER. My brother is emotionless, but cried like a baby, when I asked what happened at Longleaf...........since that stay, he has lost 21 lbs., spent 3 weeks in Lafayette General, blood transfusion and surgery to remove mass of infection in his left elbow......

Say T

it help my child kavieom learn quick

Chriss creighton

I was treated lower than a stray dog here. Threatened by the racist staff that they would beat my ass if I tried to fight one. Two girls got into a fight while I was here , her nose ended up broken and blood splattered everywhere. It was not cleaned for two days!!!! There was barely any furniture some people had to sit on the floor!!! I was put on medication that made me high as all hell and drunk for hours. I was a unfunctionable zombie! Couldn’t eat or even get off the couch. I had a panic attack in the dining hall....they dragged me back into the female rooms....dragged me and told me to get over myself. Weeks after attending there I wanted to kill myself . I had nightmares and panic attacks because of it. I was very mistreated

A Bag o’ Chips

I stayed here for one full week and it was horrible, the staff was unprofessional, they did nothing to help us feel better and just played board games all day until it was time for bed. There was not a moment of this that was helpful and is just a glorified prison

DO NOT GO HERE! ABUSE AND NEGLECT! I had went as a teen. We were grouped with the small children from age 5-6 to age 17. I was restrained and beaten and ended up with a black eye and busted blood vessels in my eye. I tried calling the patient advocate line but they were all "out of order" or "wrong number" This was over the weekend and on Monday the nurse who cared freaked out and offered an ice pack and personally bitched to patient advocate to come talk to me. Nothing was done.

april

My daughter was placed here after a suicide threat. We had great results and would recommend it to anyone. Thank you Longleaf staff for your help

I spent six days in unit A, three of those days being voluntary. I thought good things about this hospital in the beginning. But that’s likely only because they try to keep you occupied with mundane activities that do not aid in treatment at all. Your first day there, they immediately start medicating with or without proper evaluations. I personally was treated well throughout my entire stay. The techs were good to me and the nurses seemed to care and Dr. Mark Declouet was very helpful in my case. But there was not a day that there was peace. Whether it was patients and nurses, patients and techs, or patients and patients, there was always tension and possibly physical altercations. My last day, February 19th, my roommate was restrained and forced medication because she originally denied it. She was not allotted an option to speak with her social worker nor any level of counsel. They just grabbed her and treated her like an animal. With 24 other patients in the building, we all just sat there and listened to the screams. I will never suggest this hospital. I would suggest to never consider it. Not even as a last option. I not only have developed PTSD from events that took place, but I have started to have visual hallucinations from the new medications that I had no choice but to accept and cycle into my previous medications. Longleaf is atrocious and I wish I had never found myself in the position of being forced to go there. Not to mention, the staff was horrible to my fiancé when she came to visit. Treated her with disrespect and managed to damage personal items when they were held during visitation.

Kc Undercover

Friend went there for 3 months, Kc undercover. She went home talkinv about how the tecs dam near murdered her. Kept her doped up, with meds. Too many shots. Exspecially with her heart desease and denied her medical and legal rights. She was crawling on the floor as they stood by. Her parents didnt even sign her in so they pretty much kidnapped a Mississippi minor. Shes pressing charges after she gets paper work.

William Grindstaff

Gabi Stiltner

Not really sure where to rate this!! The front desk staff were always friendly and so we're the nurses I spoke with. My over all opinion on the care of my loved ones would have to be a 1. When admitted the phychiatrist in the ER started them on meds and so did the ER doc for an illness. The facility never continued treatment and after a week, let them out. First day home they are back to having the same issues!! This facility is only interested in heads in beds, they keep people for the maximum time the insurance will pay for, without making a proper diagnosis. They fail to talk to family members and get history needed to properly help. The discharge to another out patient program, that takes months to get into. They are not interested in helping just grabbing insurance money!!

Robert McGinnis

My child didn't go here, thank God. I just called and was transferred to someone named Jennifer in admissions. She was very rude as if I were disturbing her. When work in that fielding if your not a people person, find another job. I wouldn't have given even 1 star, but had too to be able to write this.

Rachael Tresner

My son was sent there for trying to kill himself at 8 years old made a year today that was the hardest thing i did was commit him they where there for no just him but us as a family and if i even want to check on him day or night they gave me nurse desk the nurse where very helpful and understanding and very informative fast forward a year later they save my child i am so greatful for these people

Angela Montgomery

Matthew Escobar

This isn't the best place to go to, my cloths were stolen, some Tecs were just awful, only reason I give this place two stars was cause of my nurse, Constance and Kim, actually showing they care when I was crying, other then that, please don't come here. If you see this nurse Constance and nurse kim, thank you for the difficult time I had.

Bret Alexander

Terrible place with terrible staff. Cheap and over rated at 2 stars. Needs to be shut down.

Meme Cooper

Pleaseeee I beg you do not send your children here I went when I was 15 I'm now 18 and still can't get over the horrible events that happened within the walls of this place!!! I am still seeking help from my therapist and its been 3 years since this happened

Brian Pyles

My friend was a patient here for a week. Not only did they lose the receipt for the items left in storage, but $45 was missing from his wallet when he got his things back.

Bunny Joubert

corah thomassie

I went here myself. Do not bring your kids here people. It's a bad place. The staff is super rude.

Enchanter McWarlock

John Rollins

Horrible experience. Was lied to just to get my wife committed. Have physical evidence of them handling pamphlets put saying you can leave at any time which is false and when asked this they said oh well basically. Horrible attitudes from receptionists to director and help Do not attend here. Ever even under threat of suicide

Ladii Lova

*Former Employee* I'm not sure where to begin about this company. Most of the reviews are accurate. If it's not about money they really don't care. I wouldn't dare send my dog to get treatment here. Abuse. Neglect. Cruelty. There was a patient raped. There was a patient beat. You don't know what your child will go through here. I've heard so many workers talking about the patients. Laughing about them. Giving the pet names. It's really heart breaking. Making a report on such behavior only gets you fired.

Madison Trahan

Bruh, lowkey miss this place and all my friends. Staff was dooope.

Upscale Events Party Rentals

Not a good place for kids. They don's help kids at all.

Anna Worth

Kix Pinch

This place is better than Brentwood for sure, it gives you a chance for socializing and making friends while helping and coping with your problems, the staff was fun they loved to joke and do fun activities with us, we listened to music and danced a bit, played soccer and planted our own flowers.

katelyn shafer

The only way I got sane from this place was the other kids in there. They made me realize that I didn't have it as bad as they did. Rooms were freezing. Dr. Myron is a quack and I only saw him once. **PARENTS** if you find my post, and you feel this is the place for child, then tell them to lay low; because that's the only way they'll get out of there safe. I'll give you a funny story. The first time I was allowed to eat with the other kids (because the first day you have to by yourself) I flicked grape jelly on the wall to see how cleaned this place was. The jelly stayed there for 11 days or atleast thats how long i stayed there.... Don't recommend it.

Tyler Wilbanks

I went here effort a week and a half and I do not recommend this to anyone. Try therapy or something else but I wouldnt wish this upon my worst enemy.

Monti G Francis

It was the lowest level of care I have ever reserved. Over Medicaid and hat to go to a nother hospital to get my meds straight I found that the text where rude and in carring

Matthew Hajel

Talk about the real "American Horror Story!" I will say that I voluntarily checked myself into this facility thinking maybe that I would get some sort of therapy and in a way I did, "shock therapy." It has opened my eyes to what kind of unstable, incompassionate, hands that folks are leaving their loved ones in. I had checked myself in just to see if maybe I was suffering from some sort of bi-polar or social anxiety disorder and pretty much entered into a labyrinth of disorderlies. Forget about the younger crowd who were doing dope and just more concerned about telling their war stories about their excessive

Jake Briggs

I had a great experience, most of the staff is there for the better good of the patient. I highly recommend sending a friend or family member here for psychiatric evaluation and or help.

Kaci Christian

I was in Longleaf for a week in 2013 for a suicide attempt. I was in ICU for a week then sent by Ambulance to Longleaf. I do not recommend sending anybody you love here. The staff shows favoratism to some and will treat others poorly. If you need something or tell them something , they do not aquiesce with you. The staff will argue with you and will make it your fault. They called me names and made fun of other patients. I saw them give a girl a shot to "calm" her down. What was their reason? It was because she was crying. I only liked 1 tech and my doctor. The tech was a woman named Morgan, and I had Dr. Claiborne. The other techs were rude and they were bullies.

Susan Perry

There will be calls to the Better Business Bureau as well as advocates for an independent investigation of this facility beginning immediately.

LongLeaf hospital has really helped me and gave me a new chance at life. And I am so thankful for that.

PAULINE Verdin

My son was sent there & I didn't have any problems @ all. Mr. Scott, Valerie(Social Worker) & nurses were all helpful. Now I didn't care for Dr. Florm. I would recommend this facility to anyone!!!

effy

DO NOT! Bring anyone or any loved ones to this place. They don’t care about patients or their mental health. I was sent here twice bc this was the place that always has empty beds. A girl hung herself here, A girl was raped during the time i was there. There are always fights and drama with the people, even the employees, i lies my way to get out of there as early as i could. Both times i was there i lied. I had no choice to where the hospital sent me too. People sneak in drugs , blades, cigarettes, bands, and etc. I would rather kill myself than go back to “get help” . THIS PLACE SHOULD BE SHUT DOWN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

IM INVISBURR

horrible and very traumatic place.

Maxie Atkins

I don't hate that place I just want my love to get well.

BREIGHANNA WELLS

Court Knee

Honestly I am so grateful for this place. Everyone is treated very well and fairly. I was so worried because I read a lot of negative reviews. I didn’t have one negative experience. Patients are definitely a priority. The techs did their best to keep us safe and happy. This was my second inpatient treatment I’ve been to (the first was in Baton Rouge), and I feel like I got the best help at Longleaf. Take every review with a grain of salt.

Kevin Desoto

Me and my wife have both been I didn't think it was to bad my wife said it was great tho she came out so much better then when she went in and shes still doing great

Keria musa

A dear friend of mine was placed here for a time, due to some mental health problems, and they have a lot of terrible stories. There's some shady and illegal things going on here, including something called "TPMF" or True Pop Me Friend, which must be VERY illegal. The premise of a TPMF is that you and another person each have a rubber band on your wrist and both parties pull the rubber band far back, though not to the point that the rubber band breaks. Both then release the band, and after a little while of this, one of the veins in your wrist is revealed and something behind it bursts, which the doctors then proceed to let bleed out. A terrible institution, and I'm surprised it hasn't been shut down. I highly advise against this money vacuum. One star is infinitely more than this place deserves.

Daisy Stump

Only 3 people in staff were helpful and actually did their job instead of sitting around. Do NOT send anyone you love here, its the worst place and does the opposite of helping. I would give it a lower rating if I could. People in jail probably have a better time.

Cynthia Julian Squyres

I called asking questions today (09/01/16 at 3:30. The "switchboard person" informed me that she had to answer all the phones and did not have the time to talk to me. That is very poor and so sad that a "Hospital" does such an upsetting thing. I pray for the hospital. SO SAD! NO COMPASSION WHATSOEVER.

Nathan Fles

Very unprofessional and unmotivated staff. Upon entry of the facility the night tech that was doing my inprocessing told me all of these great things that I would be able to do and whatnot. When I got to the unit I was in, it was the exact opposite. People my age or just barely older were sitting on their asses yelling to do god knows what. One of the first things that I learned when I came to Longleaf was that the techs and nurses weren't supposed to have their phones while on the unit. I can't tell you a day that went by where those employees weren't just sitting on their asses on their phones. They were rude and unprofessional. All they did was belittle people, call them names, and just were blatantly disrespectful to people who truly needed the best help they needed. If you love your family memebers, look into a a different facility.

Avian Thomas

i went there last month for a suicide attempt, horrible staff. one of them proceeded to call the fellow girls there "stupid" and threw markers at us. Plus, on admission, some girls were allowed to keep their piercings while others were prompted to remove them. Mostly, though, a girl was raped by one of the other patients and she is now pregnant and when I brought this up to my therapist, she said "we are trying to keep that hush hush, so if you could not repeat that, it would be appreciated." They do not care for the children there.

Anthony Buonpane

Waiting three weeks for an add-on medication that required a prior authorization. I thought this was an emergency people???? It was when I was there......

tyler escobio

terrible they treat patients like animals...

They help me. Staff were good and helpful. good food.

My son was discharged and was supposed to be placed an a Sober Living Home, they knew this from the day he was admitted. They did not take the time to try to locate one for him and instead was having him sent to a homeless shelter in Lafayette. When I arrived at the hospital the social worker director would not come and talk to me, but I found an Oxford house for my son to go to about 10 mins from the hospital that accepted him right away. Not a caring hospital !!

kali kal

2 stars is way too high for a place like this. They only care about money even the workers will tell you that. I spent a week here when I was a teenager and then again about 3 months ago. It has only gotten worse. I was there for 8 days and they refused to help me go to another hospital, even after I my regular psych doctor said I could go to his hospital and I asked since day 2. They waited 2 hours to send my roommate to the hospital because the boss said the ambulance cost too much. The nurse told me that herself. It's really sad.

Peri Ollie

Went to visit a member. Terrible facility. Staff has no concern or reguard of patients. They have no patience with any of the patients, after all they still are human beings.

Bonnie Mendoza

When your teenage tells the nurses that as soon as he gets out he was going to Take a Hugh shot of Herion and blow his heart up and The next day the Dr RELEASED Him ... Something Very Wrong with this Place !!!!!
