I wish zero stars was an option. It was a nightmare experience in the emergency room. The attending physician's first words to this 64 year old retired teacher were, "we don't give out drugs here". I was in excruciating stomach pain from a diverticulitis attack and have never been to any hospital looking for drugs. I just wanted to get to the closest emergency room so that I might live to see another day. He stabbed me five times in my left hand trying to find a vein, and would've continued to torture me, if another Dr. hadn't arrived to insert one in my right arm inside the elbow. He was successful on the first attempt.
The remainder of the visit was not any better, and because the lousy ER physician coded it as a non-emergency ,my insurance refused to pay. Although I informed him of my past history of diverticulitis, his reply was to go to see a G.I. man. I could have died from a septic stomach, yet he coded me a non-emergency and refused to change it. Going there was an epiphanic experience. I will NEVER make that mistake again. Nor will I make another one remotely like it.
I could elaborate much further, but I won't. Just keep driving. Head in any direction except this one. This was definitely a life-changing experience. DON'T STOP HERE!!!!
3years later:
I'm still alive enough to feel the trauma from that experience to blow a gasket every time I think of this experience. Do not stop there!!!!
