You will be able to see the information of people like you who are consuming the products and services of Robert J. Dole VA Medical Center (Hospital) near Kansas.
At this moment the business has a rating of 4.1 out of 5 and this score has been calculated on 112 reviews.
You may have noticed that the average of ratings is quite high, and it's founded on a high number of feddbacks, so we can be pretty sure that the valuation is very faithful. If people have bothered to rate when they are satisfied, it works.
You know that we do not usually bother to place scores when these are positive and we usually do it only if we have had a problem or issue...
This Hospital corresponds to the category of Veterans hospital.
I was concerned about using the VA when I retired from the Air Force 2 years ago. All I read about was how bad VA medical facilities were. In 2 years, I have never had issues getting an appointment and the personnel working there have been great. In fact the level of care is far superior than I have ever had anywhere else.
Outstanding facility. Very helpful with assistance getting benefits were due me as service related injuries (vietnam). I am humbled and grateful.
I have no complaints whatsoever about the care I currently receive at this particular VA hospital. I love my primary care doctor. One of the things that worrys me about moving away from Wichita is leaving this healthcare situation.
Because they make a HUGE difference in our community & rehabilitation of those who need it.
Fast good care
MY FATHER HAS BEEN UNDER THE COMBINED CARE OF THE VA AND KU MED CENTER. KU MED HAS WANTED DAD TO HAVE A CATH DONE TO CHECK ON HIS HEART FOR SEVERAL MONTHS. THEY FINALLY DID ONE AND FOUND ONE OF HIS GRAFTS CLOSED. SO NOW THEY ARE GIVING HIM MORE PAIN MEDS INSTEAD OF FIXING THE PROBLEM. MAYBE NEXT YEAR. I CAN'T STAND THIS VA AND HOW IT TREATS IT'S PATIENTS.
This place is OUTSTANDING. I went there 20 years ago and it was not a good experience....however things have changed... their care and courtesy to veterans is amazing and greatly appreciated...I don't have one negative thing to say about the finr people who work there.
Team 1 is completely incompetent. I have been trying for the past week to get an FMLA packet received and filled out by my Primary Care, and nobody can seem to find my faxes that have been sent (with received comfirmation) on several occasions. I was told I only needed to resend one page, then two days later I’m asked to resend the whole packet again. These people are going to cause me to lose my job.
In the 90s the VA litlery saved my life gave me a life when it should have been over
This is hands down the best VA hospital I’ve been to when it comes to patient care. Granite it’s not the newest, nicest looking VA, but the care you get here is amazing. Young or old Female or Male he or she it doesn’t matter this VA hospital really helps. This is coming from a younger vet who’s been overlooked at three other VA hospitals.
Can no longer receive help when in pain how long should we suffer before things change
Good medical
The phone operator telling me paperwork is more important than getting checked for cancer made me feel right at home.
Awesomeness!!
I was in the VA two weeks ago getting my yearly check up. I was sick. I complained to my Doctor and she said she couldn't find anything wrong with me, but I should go to the ER if I got worse. Why couldn't my Doctor examine me to see I had a sinus infection? The more time that went by the worse I got. I debated going to the VA ER because I didn't want to be sent home sick again. Thank God for Dr. Kimberly Graham. She deserves some praise. If everybody at the VA cared as much about their patients as Dr. Graham did you wouldn't have a bunch of sick veterans running around.
It's government ran, so that says it all. There are however some really good people we've met along the way.
The staff is second to none, absolutely wonderful people! Facility is clean and well managed. Like most hospitals its confusing for a new person to get around, but the staff took time to escort me personally to wherever I needed to go. Thank you all!
.
They have nothing but helpful with my 92 year old father.
I've always received good care from the ER. not so much my PCP. The nurse hotline is a joke they can never give you an idea, they just ask you if your dying or to just come in. It's a very pointless hotline, of all the patients and of years of experience of dealing with patients and symptoms the nurses there have not a clue on how to help or give advice. Atleast the ones I talk to. Dumb, the last doctor I visited though in the ER for strep was great.
Uh hurry up and wait .US ARMY what else
Called the clinic I was assigned to for help with an ongoing nose issue, didn't schedule me to come in just told me to use saline and let it be, what are we paying this doctor for, when all he does is call patients back with no real help.
This facility takes great care of their patients, but like all medical facilities, there is always room for improvement and sharing medical information for continuity of care. This is ALWAYS a problem for different practices, from private practice to large facilities like all VA hospitals.
The VA has improved greatly the past few years.
Great care
The Eye clinic is great! The staff is friendly and helpful!
Everyone cares about the veterans!
I visit all the time.
Good place for veterans
The caring and compassionate of staff is fantastic
I have recently been going there at first it was ok but now my back injury is bugging me really bad my leg gives out and I fall at times while walking told this to Dr gorco and he told me that it was in my head I have no respect for this Dr after telling him the symptoms he told me this. After that I went to pain management they got me in for back injections and let me know that they probably won't work that I had heavy scar tissue so I do like the pain management side they were upfront with me still an ongoing issue and hopefully I can get feeling back in my legs.
The Va doesn't care about me as a human or as a vet, all I am is a number, like a cow in a slaughter house. I am disappointed when I have to tell my dr. that my meds have to come from the VA. It takes 10-14 days for meds I need the next day, and If the Dr. puts STAT on it and faxes it to the VA pharmacy, it's supposed to be sent over night, but usually gets here in 2-3 days. The VA is becoming a living joke. ANOTHER THING, my Dr. Prescribed me medicine to help me lose weight, but the VA denied it, but the VA said I could have Bariatric surgery. The VA is a joke, an embarrassment.
Long wait times and your assigned providers don't respond to voicemail or any attempts to reach them.
Heather was amazingly helpful! Too bad Laura and Jean can't take lessons from her! They were rude and I watched them make a young girl take off crying from how rude they were talking to her! Heather pulled her to the side and got her calmed down. Great job Heather and shame on you Laura and Jean!
These guys are actively trying to kill me I guess because I'm an Iraq war vet, and im a terrible drain on there system, if it wasn't for stupid people like me these folks would have all the money and time to do the stuff that they really want to do :0/ Nothing new Over 20 a day Don't let them win Stay in the fight FTVA!!! (friends of the va ... Move out and draw fire)
My experience there was worse than a Jew at a concentration camp in Auschwitz during the Nazi occupation. Their staff and associative personnel very creatively holocaust our war heroes. That's correct folks, these people kill the patients and all to often for their own financial gain. Most highly organized crime network within our government exists here.
Good care takers.
Heather Shade @ Wichita VA + Shanti Ramachran @ Johnson County Community College and The Vocational Rehab program is ruining my life! I dont see how I complain multiple times for years, the complaints go to the same person. She laughs at me, yells at me and even acts like she doesn't know me. The latest issue I have been encountering is the counselors Discriminating against me and my disability, in a program that is supposed to help me overcome obstacles I face with my disability. I am located In the Kansas City area, advocates have done nothing for me, I have not received a call from a superior all I get is shunned while they continue to take benefits from me. This is the worst decision i have ever made, was to let in and get lured in. I gave them all of my trust, and I dont do that with NO ONE! They took and continue to take advantage of me. Who are these people? Why would the VA allow them to worsen a veterans condition? My depression and anxiety has been at an all time high.. Please someone help me, Im losing hope, I'm depressed and feeling worthless on a daily basis.
An amazing place with dedicated people!
Not sure
The care my husband has been getting in the last 1-2 years has greatly improved! Special thanks to Micah of Pain Management! My husband is a Desert Storm Veteran, ARMY. He has been going to the VA for many years. I first met my husband about 14 years ago and he had to quit going to the VA because his primary doctor sent him into a medically induced hepatitis, not once but twice. He had complained several times about his care but nothing ever came from it, until one day (around 5 years ago) he got a phone call from the VA asking him why he was not going to his appointments. Things started to turn around then. He finally got an American doctor who would actually listen to him (Not Middle Eastern- which was who he fought in the war, unsettling for a vet. Each ME doctor he had treated him as if he was completely ignorant) . Slowly, things got better. In the past year or two, my husband has received very good care here! Before, they were just giving him cortisone shots in his back, neck and knees for his pain. He had been doing this for 10+ years without any relief. Now, they have sent him to physical therapy, weekly chiropractic appointments and have issued him a cervical traction unit and a tens unit for in home use. This has helped him tremendously! He also just had a knee replaced (which was long overdue, because the doctors before refused to do it saying it was not service related. Jumping out of airplanes is not bad on your knees?!?) Anyhow, the surgery went very well! The anesthesiologist was awesome and so was the doctor! In recovery, we had great nurses and a few that weren't so great. But, overall, we were very pleased with the surgery. He is a healthy strong man, so recovery went very well too. They got him all the care he needed post-op. So, to sum it up... If you have stopped going to the Wichita VA because of poor care in the past, you should give them a shot again. They have really stepped up their game! We are now very pleased with the care he gets! Unfortunately, we will be making a move to Salt Lake City, Utah in the near future. We really hope that the SLC VA has the same great service as Wichita. If not, we will return to Wichita to get his other knee replaced when the time comes....that's how happy we are with them now! Hopes this helps!
My girlfriend gets jealous their,,, all the Nurses are Beautiful!
All of the staff was extremely courteous and Timely. a refreshing visit to the VA
This place is a joke. Hurry up and wait all over again. 9 years and still waiting on a service connection...
Outrageous disappointing VA Medical Center. Senator Robert Dole would be embarrassed to have his name attached to this mess. Two hours just waiting to register. Signage that poorly directs people to office locations that no longer exist in that location. Veterans deserve better. On a 200 Billion Dollar budget you need to get it together folks. Oh, and eight months later I am still waiting for the Patient Advocate to "Call you right back".
There quick to help you
Excellence abounds. Great people. Impressive resources and campus. Truly state of the art care.
Thumbs Up!
Always been there to help as quickly as they possibly can. great caring staff!!
This is o e awesome hospital for veterans
When a male Patient Request a male doctor and a male nurse that should be easy to accommodate. Hospital claims they are there to help vets but if your uncomfortable with the staff they leave you high and dry. Its a shame they Served our country And they don't even have a choice in their doctors and nurses. And in most cases they're restricted in going to a different hospital. They do allow you to bring a chaperone in the Room but if your chaperone has children and you have no one to watch them they will not allow you all to be in the room. I understand that most people do not care if they have a male doctor or female doctor or male nurse or female nurse But when someone does have a preference you should easily be able to accommodate preference Or they should be allowed to take their VA services elsewhere
Best VA Out of the 5 states I have been in and to!
Clean, Clean, Clean. This is the Cleanest facility In Wichita. Hands down. No contest.
Best care available great caring staff
It was horrible when I was going there for treatment. Always taking money out of income tax return saying I owe them for services that I not ever received. Last time any services was received was in 2007 and money was taken out of income tax return for services rendered in 2008-2010. Mental health was all about pushing medication on me and not really any treatment had helped. I have been seeing my own doctor and not at here. As far as getting health records it was not just my there was 3 other vets medical records in with mine and don't worry about getting mental health records because it is pointless due to the fact its up to the mental health doctor to either release them or not. Upon requesting them and getting denied my own records I stepped up to Sen Moran and he even got denied even though I signed a release form. I asked them for my mental health records and the doctor said "There was information in there that could be damaging to me to relive the deployments".
Went to dr Cramer for tooth pain and got a partial root canal done and he referred me to dr thibault where I had a root canal finished but during the procedure while numb I was in a lot of pain. So he didn't finish and sent me out with pain meds. I called back three days later still in pain and he again only gave me more pain meds not fixing my issue. So dr thibault refered me back to dr Cramer to have the tooth removed. I've never had teeth pulled besides wisdom teeth where they knock you out. So I went in a few days later and had it removed but the whole time I was shaking and crying bc it hurt so bad. And not just the pressure. I had the tooth pulled on a Tuesday and Thursday I went back bc I was in pain. Dr Cramer went on saying "this is very rare and I don't understand how you're still in pain and we're just chalking it up as a rare incident bc I've never heard anything like this" and went on to say that the socket looked normal and 'I wish all my patients came in with pain looking that good' .well I went to the er the next day (Friday) and the urgent care dr, not a dentist, looked at it and said there was pus around it and a couple small ulcers. So I got into Wichita family dental on that Saturday and found out I had a DRY SOCKET! after dr Cramer said it looked normal and told me to suck it up. Well I went BACK to WFD today bc I'm still hurting and they took an X-ray and I have a CRACK IN MY JAW AND a dry socket. Needless to say I'm in pain but at least they were willing to look into it instead of calling me a liar and to suck it up. I will NEVER go back to he VA dentist again. Fu**n ridiculous. And worst experience ever in life.
Has been extremely helpful and my husband would not be here if it weren't for the great care and staff.
Always good care of my father. Dr's and nursed are great.
I have had 2 surgeries in 5 weeks (biopsies of the gall bladder mass, the liver mass and the spleen masses). Yesterday Aug 7 Dr Neff removed my gall bladder. The surgical nurses, recovery nurses and Sherri in discharge are the absolute best. I get the best of care from the Doctors, Nurses and even the volunteers.
Good people.
Mostly unorganized , tell you what's wrong with you.but never follow up, to take care of issues.
When I go to the emergency room they are taking care of me with in four minutes this has happened over and over. The Dr that take care of me has me and my ,health as her high priority she has done more for me then any civilian Dr ever has. The specialist are the same way
