Great care from ER to open heart surgery to cardiac rehab and after care.

Starlith McAdams

Mom went to the ER on 8/18/19 and then admitted to the hospital. It went smoothly and quickly. Everyone that I had contact with was helpful and pleasant. Shout out to the ladies working the front desk at the ER admitting desk and The triage nurse...unfortunately I didn’t grab their names. Nurse Angela in the ER was great! Dr Woody was patient with all our questions and explained everything in detail. Didn’t make us feel rushed. All the techs and radiology personnel that transported her around were prompt and polite. The ladies on the 9th floor were really great too. Nurse Ashley and Tech Suzie were very helpful. Overall super impressed at how everything has gone so far!!

Bailey Shriner

This is my favorite hospital out of any hospitals I’ve been taken to or visited. They’ve always taken good care of my family. My brother was in ICU on life support for over a month, in the hospital for over 2 months and they always kept us …

Joe Ciccio

I had open heart surgery there, doctors and nurses were great.

Nereyda Solis neri

They take forever to get my mom inside the room like 3 hours in was 6:00p.m. into 8:46p.m.and one wonmen was soo mean to me because i just was sting there and she was like go behand the people in forent of u but in a rud way and it go as a 1 that why this is my last time i come here

Deborah Heath

My husband was taken in a wheelchair from Dr. Office to ER with severe pain. We have been sitting in the ER for 2 1/2 hours and he still hasnt been seen. We left this hospital and went to Lee's Summit Hosptial. He was in and being seen in two minutes. Won't ever go back to this ER!!! My husband ended up requiring emergency surgery. And suffered needlessly for 3 hours in pain waiting to be seen. Their protocol procedures need some serious reconsideration!!! Do not come here if you are in pain!!!

I tend to have very good experiences here. The only really bad one I had was when my IUD was slipping out over the weekend and since the Gyno was closed I had to go to the ER. The nurse there was very judgemental and rude that time. All the other times I have gone there the doctors have been caring, considerate and listened to you instead of talking over you, including the ER staff. I highly recommend this hospital.

Penny Graham

Worst hospital ever no concern with er patients my daughter broke her nose would not even x ray her St. Lukes took care of her tho

Amber Kennedy

Very slow, treats patients poorly, my family has been having issues with this hospital for years. My step dad went in there for a heart attack and when his heart monitor starting going off they ignored him. They talk down to you.

Emily DeLuca

This hospital is terrible. I miscarried at about 6 or 7 weeks into my first pregnancy back in August 2018 and the ER doctors treated me like I was over reacting for being so upset. They acted like I was stupid for crying! At the end of my ER visit they had me schedule a follow up appointment at the health pavilion with an OBGYN to run some blood tests and “make sure” I had miscarried even though the ER doctor already told me I DID. So I went anyway to make sure nothing was missed or over looked and this guy didn’t do a damn thing besides read me my ER diagnosis (of a miscarriage) and literally tell me I smelled like smoke and blamed my miscarriage on it. He did zero tests, like I was told they would. Not even a pee test. To sum it up, I got billed almost 200$ for some hack to read my ER papers to me and INSULT me. Save yourself the heartache and go to St.Lukes!!

James Mango

The WORST Hospital in Metropolitan area! Staff is rude, and mouthy! I came out the same way I went in with a " Sorry sir we're busy" . No help, nothing fixed. I wouldn't send my worst enemy here.

Sister sue

I had shoulder surgery as an outpatient last week. I was very impressed with the caring staff and their ability to make me as comfortable as possible. I would highly recommend NKC to anyone needing surgery! Thank you all for going above and beyond just doing your job by lovingly caring for patients!

My wife and I have had an extremely disappointing experience with N KC Hospital. My wife was having heart palpitations and her PCP referred her to N KC to see a cardiologist (Dr. Farrar), and get a Holter monitor put on for 24 hours. Upon arriving my wife was seen to by a technician, the tech taped the monitor to her (which took all of 5 minutes), and we were on our way. 24 Hours passed, and as per the instructions we dropped the monitor off at a front desk with some personnel. Fast forward about a week and her PCP calls to say that the Holter picked up nothing out of the ordinary, all is good. A few weeks go by and we get a bill for $66 which lists "The services received from Michael Farrar MD". So, we pay that bill, and assume we have covered the fees for the service which required all of 5-10 minutes of a technicians time. Then, we receive a bill that is labeled cardiology, and it's $1,854! Naturally, I call and billing says that's the rate for the cardiologists services. So, someone we never saw, someone who never actually gave us any services has billed us $1,854. Billing says the bill description "cardiology" is a short way of listing the services we receive from Dr. Farrar. We're truly baffled! To add to insult, three of our close friends who work as doctors in neighboring hospitals had a good chuckle at the fact that we are being charged nearly $2,000 for such a service. If your primary refers you to get a holter monitor then I would advise you to kindly ask them to refer you to anywhere else but N KC Hospital. I would usually not subject matters publicly like this but when billing offers you no help other than, "would you like to set up payments", then I am unfortunately forced to until I receive some help on an issue that seems terribly wrong.

I had the sleeve surgery and I'm so happy

Southwestern Hearing center is well staffed and able to assist with your ear aid needs. I like dealing with these people.

Justine Johnson

NKC Hospital is a great place to be in need of medical attention. I would recommend it to anyone needing medical treatment. From the staff in the ER who took care of us promptly and efficiently and diagnosed the issue, to the administrative staff who worked to iron out insurance details, to the doctors and nurses who worked to make sure we were well taken care of. The love they have for their professions really showed in the treatment we received. What a dedicated team!

Crystal Rhodus

Took someone in having chest pain and pain and numbness in their left arm. Sat in The waiting room for over an hour and half. Finally they get taken back and are just left there to wait longer. This hospital has no sense of urgency and will be avoiding from now on.

alexia brunk

HORRIBLE I mean treat you like they are better then you & make you feel like complete trash do not recommend having a baby here! Very rude

Yeti Patch

The ER people have been fast and helpful day and night.

M. Lewis

A very good Hospital, I will go back, the staff have a no BS approach, they get things done, quickly and efficiently.

North Kansas City Hospital ER runs scams! Taking advantage of delicate situations, they exploit in time of need! They only care about how much money they can wrongly suck out of people! Their Patient Representative, will automatically side with the hospital, when doing their “30 day investigation” for disputed charges, this place only cares about making money!

Geony Rucker

I delivered my 1st child here in June 2017 and if I could give them 50 stars, I would. Absolutely fantastic experience. Dr. James Morgan is the greatest physician on the planet and was extremely supportive and encouraging not only throughout pregnancy but also throughout labor/delivery. His experience is invaluable. The anesthesiologist, Dr. Wright, provided the PERFECT epidural. It didn't hurt at all. The nursing staff during the delivery and during our 2 day stay in the hospital took such great care of us and my husband and I both felt that everyone genuinely cared about us. If and when I ever decide to have another baby, I will absolutely go to NKCH and will do everything I can to ensure Dr. Morgan is my doc!

Scott cambell was mr ER doctor. Have you ever seen a dr come in with his mind already made up. I had back surgery 3 months ago and I'm still having a lot of pain. I'm tapering off but after no sleep Saturday or Sunday night finally went in Monday morning (6-26-17) to get treatment for nausea and pain. I couldn't keep my meds down. Scott the doc tried to give me something I'm allergic to and his bedside manner was less than desired. I went straight to another hospital and was treated with care. I was severely dehydrated and was given an IV of saline solution but was so dehydrated they could not see a vein but still managed to find one on the first try. Then was given meds for nausea and pain. After 30 minutes was given more meds for pain and nausea. Scott, your in the wrong profession. Hope to see you on the streets.

Juanell Largent

Great care! My husband had a heart bypass here 10 years and at his recent stay some of the staff remembered him. He saw the hospitalist Dr So and he was very caring and explained all the tests and procedures I needed. He highly recommends this hospital.

Linda Clark

A wonderful hospital and Doctors offices in the Pavilion. Easy to get to. Free Vallet parking. Outstanding staff. Great doctors. Won't go anywhere else in the city.

Joshua Gouge

I was seen promptly on a Friday evening. Doctor and staff are very professional. I felt like I was in great hands here. The people of Kansas City are lucky to have a place like this. I'm a trucker, and I've delivered to some hospitals that made me cringe as far as cleanliness and staff. This hospital is great.

Fredericka Stevenson

Hardly saw my night shift nurse. My daylight nurse informed me she was the only one on the floor and she'd get to me when she can. No one offered me half price for the less than full service I received. Not to mention when I got home my reason for admission was totally wrong. Diarrhea? My goodness! No wonder I'm not any better!

diana lightner

i was a patient on the 11th floor, for cardiac monitoring, from March 12th to the 16th. i received excellent care from all of the staff, nursing, food service, housekeeping, and several other departments. When i had a very low blood …

Jammie Curry

They treated my mother and grandma and was sweet to them and gave them absolutely the best care.

Never have I been not treated at a medical facility especially for something as serious as a neck / spine injury. very first thing they did was get a urine sample and told me that if I didn't do it exactly as I was told they would use a straight cathidore to get it as though I had just entered prison ! I tried to explain my back health history to the doctor he asked if I had a primary care doctor at home I said I had an appointment with one and an MRI of my back schedule when I got home I had recently moved and needed to see the new one . He told me to stick with that and he would give me 9 tabs to get me by ? What is a tab ? Apparently he thought I was a drug addict. I told him I drove a bus for a living and had people's lives in my hands and needed to make sure I was ok to drive not pass out from a injured spine. he apparently didn't want to wast his time giving me a CT scan or MRI even though I have excellent medical insurance! Gave me a prescription for 9 5mg hydrocodone and sent me on my way . Meanwhile my all important urine sample was just left sitting on the counter forgotten about . Most unprofessional experience I've ever had in my life . If I pass out at the wheel and people are injured do to me having an injury North Kansas City hospital refused to take serious they will most definitely be held liable .

I went to the er at north kc on Monday evening at 8 pm. I had chest pain and tightness in my left arm. When I first checked in they did a ekg right off the bat, which was great. Then did my vitals. They didn't ask for a medical history or medication list which I find to be out of the norm. Once taken to the exam room, they asked what my symptoms were and informed me that I was getting blood work done, and then a chest X-ray . Later after my labs were done they did a Ct scan and ultra sound on my arm for blood clots. The Ct scan was horrible they left me laying on the Ct machine for it seemed liked forever after the test was done, I could hear them in their little office joking and carrying on rather then getting me back to my husband in the er. The nurse in er said she gave me something for my pain but it didn't do anything I actually hurt worse the longer I stayed there. After all test the doctor said she didn't know what was wrong that I might have pulled a muscle in my chest, young people ( I am 30) usually don't have heart problems. I know this but I also know that heart problems are in my family and I have been in heart failure my self , after giving birth to my youngest child. I was told I was to go home and take ibuprofen. After being there till 2:30 in the morning with two small kids,I was sent home still in pain and no answers. The next morning I got a call from my doctor saying that the hospital had found an abnormality with my Ct and now I need further testing. Wow they told me I was ok while I was in the er. Today is Wednesday I am still hurting and have no answers. Not very happy.

Went into the ER at 3:30 pm on 7/26/19. I went in because I had a migraine for 3 hours that didn’t go away with my pain pills and I was vomiting, passed out, dizzy and had shortness of breath. I went to the desk around the 2 hour mark to ask my place In line. The young lady told me I was up next. I had watched 4 people go in-front of me and I was there before them. So around the 4 hour mark I went Up to ask again. And the young lady stated that I was second in line unless they get someone more important. After 4 hours of Waiting my head ache had reduced some what. While I was there I’d seen a man pass out with no assistance and 6 people leave without being seen. The young lady said I should stay but for what to wait another 3 hours. Id most likely be pushed back in line. Total waste of my time. I guess my persistent migraine wasn’t important enough. But I’m sure I’m going to get a bill in the mail for just walking in the door. And to top it all off I’m not insured and only went because of my symptoms that i had never had before. This was My first visit there and my last. There’s nothing really to be done about the situation, only thing I could ask for is to hire more staff or improve waiting times so that no one is setting for 4 hours.

Great doctors, especially Dr. Sarah Hon with neurological group!!

My daughter recently has had to go into North Kansas City Hospital several times, for several reasons. I don't know if they don't bother to try to update there information or what... I had not been receiving any bills from them. Then got a collection notice and found out they were using an address that had been used 10 years ago / 4 residence ago... Not to mention today I received an over $3000 bill from February for my daughter that they haven't even bill the insurance for. Good insurance from Ford might i add... We are giving them information when we go into the hospital but evidently they aren't bothering to update it. My daughter, was 19 years old, was also treated very disrespectfully by the some of the nursing staff. I am extremely disappointed in NKC Hospital. I will avoid it completely.

Lester Jones

Super long wait. People don't want to spend an hr waiting to be helped.

Ashley B

The labor and delivery nurses made my delivery experience one to remember. Sarah was beyond amazing and I could never thank her or the other nurses near enough. Dr. Rosbrugh was great, too. I was very scared and they helped everything go smoothly and had a ton of patience with me.

Great place! I had a heart attack and was sent here I was treated very good by these people! I pretty much been here several times in the past as well always good treatment this Is a top notch hospital highly recommend this hospital!

Olivia Williams

If you are pregnant this is the go to hospital in kc. Wish I would've had my other 2 kids here! Had a baby boy in November and the staff was top notch! Rooms clean, and updated. Loved that you could order room service when you were hungry- not on a hospital schedule. Food was pretty darn good for "hospital food". My nurses were friendly, and seemed to actually like working there. I also went to NKC for my maternity care- Mertias Womens clinic was wonderful. I had Dr. Newman and she was a wonderful dr. Also for all my appointments it was great that they had valet parking. Awesome amenity. Highly recommend this hospital. Best in KC!

Chris Boehm

I had shoulder surgery 2 years ago. Since then, I've paid 150 dollars a month towards my bill. I recently went into the hospital for an unrelated issue and missed my final payment of 200 dollars. They promptly turned my account over to some collection agency. Thanks for destroying my credit you low life ####

Amanda Dixon

Some ER Drs do really care about your health. To be honest I have had a few trips out there and should have been hospitalized. I was close to it the other night. I have been through the same stuff only its getting worse. I do like the financial assistance program. Im still in pain and feel things are getting worse. Also the last time I was in there they sent me home some paperwork the Dr. Had not even discussed with me. Why not? They acted as though the antibiotic is working. Ha. I beg to differ. If infection is still there, red, and warm to touch its not working. The swelling getting worse. Only thing done was send home with crutches and finish antibiotics. The Dr. the time before said if I got worse come back and they would see about admitting me. I got a different Dr. Unfortunately.

Rick Greenberg

It was very busy the day I came to the emergency, where I was diagnosed with the flu. I waited several hours for a room in the hospital which seemed even longer. After, I was finally addmitted the care was surprisingly good. I had a complete recovery.

Doug Wilson

I was sent to nkc from Ray County because I had 3 fingers almost cut off by a table saw and I was supposed to have seen a surgeon but the er doctor said I don't need to he could do it long story short did a horrible job and t he surgeon in was supposed to see left it of ghetto country yesterday that why I couldn't see him and n o w I had to find a Surgeon online my own I wouldn't send my neighbor dog to nkc.

I arrived here on 6/19/19 and parked near the second Emergency station near the south end of the parking lot. As I exited the car two women asked me for help..one was gasping for air and the other was smaller and frail. They asked pleaded for two wheel chairs. I immediately went to the emergency station and press the button, I told the woman who answered that two women needed wheelchairs.. to which she responded I needed to call emergency services. I really could not believe what I was hearing. I once again stared upwards at the sign where it said Emergency station, and asked her why I would need to call Emergency services if I was at an emergency station. She began to say "Sir..." I interrupted and said that "one woman is gasping for air." She responded back "Okay". I walked quickly up to the hospital entrance, and went to the information desk and got two wheelchairs. I want to go to the wheelchair is back to the area, and saw a Security vehicle pull up next to the women. I do not understand why security was called and why they did not bring wheelchairs. Another fellow civilian helped and we wheeled the women to the emergency room. I once had a very high opinion on this hospital, I do not know what has happened in the last year or so, but the where this situation was treated, is so far beyond acceptable I would tried my family that's true a couple miles to the hospital is a little north of this area. The amount of time I spent hoping these women, did not allow me to spend the time I needed two with my mother who is currently hospitalized here.

Best place ever. Everyone makes you feel like your the most important person there. Came in with chest pains and a blood pressure that was over stroke level. They were great at letting me know everything that was going on and happening every step of the way. A night stay (in a great airbed) and I get to go home today. This is the only place you should go in Kansas city.

Adam Rice

Great staff they respond quickly to all situations and explained it to me in the simplest ways for even me who knows nothing about this kind of thing to understand and i was in and out within a few hours.

Cherokee

Nursing staff was fired Tues morning due to almost killing mother by lowering blood pressure extreamly low.

Shelby Lynn

Their birthing center is amazing, I love the staff they are soo sweet and really care. I wouldn't deliver anywhere else!

DeadAss Alex

This is a horrible hospital. I'm tired of friends and family either getting sick or dying here due to their badd work. And getting to the south Pavilion at night is a pain in the butt. Feels like you have to walk mile there. Its 2019. Step your game up. Dont go here people!!!

David Kueter

We were on a trip and Mom fell and broke her hip. It was a real blessing to be brought to this hospital. Great dr's, staff. Professional and caring.

Ralph Davidson

Service is a little slow, and service REALLY matters here

Blake Marshall

Excellent hospital that saved my life. Wonderful doctor and nurses.

Andrea Gallamore

Not sure how to begin. And its probably pointless, just like my visits to the ER. Even with my PC calling down to inform them why I was coming in, and what I needed. I was treated as if I was a pain pill seeking freak. The ER physician was extremely rude, and made it very clear he was not going to treat me. However, the one nurse asked me questions, and listened to what was really going on. And was able to help me with some parts of my visit. Then, waited for over an hour for the ER physician to come back in and release me with a plan, and he never came back. And no nurse. So, my husband and I got up, and walked out. No questions asked. They could have cared less. I am disgusted of such horrible bed side manners. A good doctor listens, and tries to understand their patients cares and needs. Guess I will be another one of their statistics. Thank you, thank you very much for helping my extremely, delicate, situation.

So my boyfriend broke his leg Thursday night, he was doing a test ride on his friends dirt bike after it had been recently repaired and the front breaks went out due to a bubble in the line and when the tire finally caught he had to lay the bike down going about 25-30 mph, he isn’t a heavy drinker and hasn’t had a drink since we got back from out vacation to New Orleans for the 4th, as soon as I got to the ER they got him in with speed, asking us the normal questions and then about every 2 minutes after they have already asked someone is asking was he drinking, was he wearing a helment? We had already told them the situation multiple times at this point, we got a very subpar treatment from the doctor, I’m not sure if it’s because we are young and have tattoos or what but they were being very dismissive of it being an actual break because his bone wasn’t sticking out. They took X-rays, didn’t show us, AND DIDNT SHOW THEM TO THE TECH HE SENT IN TO WRAP AND SET HIS LEG. He also sent in the tech alone, my boyfriend is 6’2 and has long and heavy legs anywayDidn’t specify to the tech at all how to wrap his leg. He takes me back and I see the X-rays, obviously I’m not a doctor, but I can see the clear break through his tibia and a very clear triangular piece broken out of the back of his tibia. I take him home with his papers and a script to fill in the morning. He is screaming in pain all night and I could tell something wasn’t right and I could feel his bones move within the cast when I’m elevating it and helping him adjust. We send the script to cvs in the morning and also call to follow up with the orthopedic surgeon, they give him an appointment 5 days out and they only gave us 12 Tylenol/hydrocodone pills. I took him to KU after all of that this morning and not only did they tell me first thing after they saw the X-ray that it is very severe, but he will need surgery and his leg was improperly wrapped and set. I don’t know if it was pure laziness on behalf of the Doctor or if it’s because we are both 24 and tattooed but I am absolutely appalled by our treatment and how much they seemed to not care. They sure as hell didn’t care enough to have someone assist the tech wrapping his injury, which was all the way through his tibia right above his ankle. So much more damage could have been caused to him because of that improper set and wrapping.

Heather Humbolt

a phlebotomist seeks in your hospital room at night while you're sleeping with sleep meds, takes your blood, doesn't read your chart that you're allergic to plastic tape and then realizes it rips off the plastic tape puts on the paper tape gets blood all over your gown and sneaks back out not bothering to tell anybody even the nurse on duty. So lucky it was ONLY ON THERE for a MINUTE otherwise it could have eaten my skin so bad I bleed. Start paying attention to your job and patients. This would be the main reason I left against AMA. This hospital had no where all I was allergic to and it was a fight to get them not to use something my body couldn't handle!! I have never been to a hospital with such disregard to life threatening things their patients have. Maybe red allergy bracelets and signs on doors are not required in MO? Wish this would let me show you a picture of the burn mark left on my arm

David Brewer

Great place. Love 5he pavilion coffee cafe

Adria Mcgrew

They were nice!! Compasionett.. Nice,

Diane Baker

Having utilized this hospital several times for our family, we have only received the ultimate best care ever.

Denise Fuston

Went to the er with a swollen knee unable to walk on it without a lot of pain. The np did an xray and sent me home, told me to see an orthopedic and would not help the pain. I was offered crutches to walk with and that was it. Next day still in pain and the orthopedic canceled the appointment. Need help and in pain? Go elsewhere!

Terra S

I went in with stomach pains and sat in the waiting room for about 3 hours before someone came to get me. When I finally got tot talk to a doctor I was told I was fine after they just poked my stomach. I left and went to another hospital and they had to do an emergency surgery on me. My spleen was about to rupture. I will be avoiding going to this hospital in the future.

Reghan Becker

I had a appointment for tomorrow at 12:30 at the Merltas Health Pavillion for Women until Dr . Newton decided to change it without ever letting me know or confirming it.. I now missed my first doctors appointment now 14 weeks pregnant and won't be able to be seen until 17 weeks still for my first check up all because they couldn't leave the day we already decided on alone or didn't care to ever call me and tell me they needed to change it.. I am now looking for another hospital because obviously NKCH or the Dr doesn't know what there doing. Thank you sooooo much for all the inconvenience you have caused.

A H

Came to emergency room, got right in, I had to have my appendix removed, Kaitlin was my nurse in er, and she was very pleasant, and calming. I was put on the 11th floor, and had Sandy, Heather, and Abby as my nurses and they were awesome! Great experience! Thank you NKCH Hospital!

Savannah Brungardt

The staff here are great. They care about there patients, they take very good care of the patients, and most Of all, are very friendly. I have not met any of the doctors here I believe, but the nurses that come help my family members, or whoever, all know what they’re doing, and they do a very good job of it. It is a very nice building, when I walk in a lot of the workers (whoever they may be) smile as you walk pass. It is a very nice building, and I feel comfortable there. If I ever needed a hospital choose to go to, I would definitely choose North Kansas City Hospital!

DoJuan Wesley

We had the most amazing experience this pass weekend at NKC Hospital. The staff was attentive from the emergency room to the general hospital. Service was great and nurses were thorough. Once my husband was admitted, the RN and Dr. took their time to sit and explain everything until we had clear understanding so we can make the right decisions. We had never been to this hospital before but will certainly refer our friends and family. Thank you for all the work you do.

Karen Randall

I have had two back surgeries at North Kansas City Hospital. The doctor was great, but so were all the nursing staff, both times. When you call for a nurse, they come right away. They are kind, compassionate, and very knowledgeable. My son went to ER and ended up staying in the hospital for a week with horrible back conditions. He was treated great and received the help he needed. I would go back there again if needed and recommend it highly to others.

Sarah Sanchez

They wrote off all of my son's expenses because we didn't have insurance. They gave him amazing treatment and were very kind and efficient. This is by far the best hospital in the Greater KC Area.

Tina Crabtree Westcott

I was told when I had health issues to skip Saint Joseph, Mo.'s hospital & make my appointment at Meier, Rioja's & Fitch Healthcare to woman. Normally, I would have chosen Saint Francis Hospital in Maryville, Mo. but I had a God centered intuition something was seriously wrong. I went in to have a 24 hour laparoscopic surgery & was in the hospital twelve nights & days. I had three surgeries in four days. They saved my life, though it was a long time of healing, after the surgeries. The Surgeon was not of that office & my cancer was benign. Thing is they did find cancer on my left ovary & removed the cancer & fibroids. God guided the Surgeon in all he accomplished & to that I am thanking him & that Office. I had regular, kind nurses that cared. My Doctor cared too. My children are happy to have their Mom, thanks to God & that Hospital.

Fred Ashford

The treatment they give you is great and very complete, the facilities are great, everything was really excellent.

Joe Catran

You know I was involved in an accident and I was debating whether or not to go to the hospital particularly this one because the first 5 reviews we're all negative but anyways I went & let me tell you if I wasn't for the fact that i was in pain, sleepy, & married I would have walked out of there with a wife between dr. Brandy, Tiffany, hell I forgot the radiologist name not only were they excellent but they were easy on the eyes.... erudition I was only there it's a three and a half for hours from walking to walk it out. Tracy in security was excellent and that about wraps it up

Mari Anne Mcmaken

I've used the doctors here and they were all nice

Deanne Foreman

My mom was in here for a month.Inital visit was a fall. She had a fractured pelvic and wrist injury. She had other issues but she went in for the fall.Since she went in,she ended up with secondary septis pneumonia.Yet she was put on antibiotics all this time. She also had a stroke in the hospital, which she could still talk and was still able to move. She went in and got better for her fall, was in rehab. They even were going to send her to a skilled nursing facility for more rehab .Then all of a sudden she has passed.I thought this was a good hospital , it used to be years ago.I dont think they they care for the elderly.I also have heard from many people who had got septis from this hospital.Me included. How do you go in for this and dont make it out?I wish she would not gone to this hospital.I just noticed that most of the good reviews are from years ago.Something seems not right.Whats going on NKC Hospital?

Jordan Burr

I delivered my son at this hospital in July of 2016 and it is very nice, clean and other then being a hospital a nice environment to be in. The poor doctor that delivered him had to deal with me screaming and yelling and she was so nice and reassured me that I wasnt going to die trying to birth my child. The nurses were very caring and helpful despite how unpleasant im sure I was. He had to be taken into the NICU and all the nurses were great and very helpful and caring!

I gave birth here at the beginning of June a couple weeks early, it wasn’t a bad experience. It’s a very nice hospital with good comfortable rooms for labor and after labor and nice staff, even the food service workers are so kind and helpful when bringing in your food to your room. I’m giving 5 stars especially for a Nurse in particular in Labor & Delivery named Pam, I’ve never met such a sweet and caring health care professional, and she’s probably the best health care worker I’ve had my whole pregnancy. I felt like she genuinely cared and it touched me a lot. Every nurse, doctor, etc could learn something from her! I also had a nurse named Lisa who was very sweet and helpful too, if it wasn’t for them two I’m not sure how this experience would’ve been for me, because I already didn’t have much support. They made it easier and I will always be greatful

The WiFi here is awful. When your having to wait over an hour for an appointment and work in the meantime, there is no way to do so with the WiFi connection. Referring specifically to Suite 530 and OBGYN. Please get a better connection. The doctors and nurses are great here though.

The maternity ward is amazing and the nurses amazing! They were very respectful and made the recovery easy.

Have been waiting four and a half hours to be seen. I have watched at least ten people get help that came in hours after me! All the while being told I was the next to be taken back to be helped.

HaBy far the best ER visit I have experienced ever. I had some chest pain, back pain, stomach pain, all unexplained and out of nowhere. Dr.Maher in the ER, the nurses, Imaging, everyone was amazing. They took it very seriously and treated …

Billing department is insane. I was seen back in August, had a few x-rays done, and everything was fine (other than the doctors attitude.) Never received a bill, until I start getting calls from a debt collection agency wanting to set up payment plans for a bill I supposedly owe this hospital. When I go up to the billing department at the hospital, they tell me they’ve been sending the bill to a TWELVE year old address “because I never updated it”, even though I did when I was seen, AND as a former employee during the time when I got the x-rays done they had my current address all over their system (and had no problems sending me my free movie tickets every Christmas or my W-2 to my current address but for some reason decide to send my medical bill to a TWELVE year old address.) This bill should have never escalated to the point of collection agencies. I’m not angry I have a bill, I’m angry it was never sent to me and are now trying to ruin my credit. Completely insane.

When u bring someone to the hospital that is in so much pain they make u wait and when a female comes in after you and they take her in before the person u bring in making them wait in so much pain it is so mess up

My girlfriend went to Urgent Care a few days ago and they highly suspected Meningitis, a condition that can possibly result in death within hours after symptoms start. Urgent Care told her to go to the ER immediately. She went to North KC hospital's ER. She was not seen by a doctor, but a physician's assistant. This person did not order any tests nor labs, and instead said she believed it was simply an ear infection and prescribed Antibiotics. Merely taking the easy way out by cutting corners to clear a bed. Nice. I don't know what kind of ER this is, but every single time I've ever been to an ER, they ALWAYS ALWAYS run labs. Today my girlfriend started feeling dizzy, had to leave work and went to her primary doctor who asked WHY didn't the ER run labs???? So yeah now she's back at the ER today, and she had a doctor Dr. Ham??? My girlfriend doesn't remember him even introducing himself, instead he just came in, and stared at the TV endlessly and wouldn't even look at my girlfriend while asking questions. He said he didn't believe it was Meningitis, while she had several symptoms pointing to it (before tests were run). She wanted to turn the damn TV off if she could find the remote. Today, they did a spinal tap, and ran white cell labs, and other tests, but why in the hell did they not do this the first time? Do you guys like gambling with patients' health? You almost ALWAYS need to order labs, especially if an infection is suspected, let alone MENINGITIS!!! THIS IS THE ER AKA EMERGENCY ROOM. Your doctors' are to see and treat patients, not stare at the TV. We want answers. Do you have protocols for suspected conditions? Does your medical staff follow them? Why were no tests run during the first visit, why wasn't she seen by an actual doctor the first time and why was your doctor "Dr. Ham" more interested in the TV than my girlfriend's life and well being. These visits are not cheap, and if one of your staff misdiagnoses, and/or mistreats patients, guess what can happen? Death. Your job is to treat and save lives. Many patients die every year in this country due to misdiagnosis and/or mistreatment. I have to wonder how many have passed away in your hospital due to this. Hundreds? Thousands? Think about that for a few minutes. I left a voicemail with Patient Advocate dept.

I went there over the weekend the er staff was so nice the doctor was good and efficient I enjoyed my stay even know I was sick. I recommend this hospital 100% ..my nurse was wow her name was Heaven I'm speechless she is a beautiful nurse in every way so caring and very great at what she is doing..also a tall female nurse black hair glasses they are worth every star .I'm from Philly here on business I can't say enough about this hospital and the staff that operate it Thank You.

This hospital has the most hateful racist employees in the whole world. It is not a hospital it is a concentration camp where if you are Hispanics you can be turture pretty much .Hispanic are not welcome in this place. They will pretend that they like you specifically if there is $$$$ involve. But once they take your money you are no longer valuable. On the second floor by the waiting area there is a front desk ,there you are going to find the most hateful racist person and employee that this hospital has.Her name is Wendy and she hates Hispanic specially if you don't speak English or you have accent.Be careful with this person. She can even attack you and you will find no way to report her because the hospital is raicist itself and they won't help you because you are Hispanic .And do not even think on calling police, don't forget that this place is a big institution and they will use they influences .MY ONLY SUGGESTION IS IF YOU ARE HISPANIC DO NOT WEASTE YOUR MONEY IN THIS HOSPITAL.GO TO A PLACE WHERE YOU CAN BE SEEN AS A HUMAN BEING AND NOT AS A COLOR OF SKIN .EVEN THEIR OWN HISPANIC EMLOYEES COMPLAIN ABOUT THE HARRASMENT OF THIS WOMAN BUT THEY DO NOT WANT TO TALK BECAUSE THEY ARE AFRAID .I will never come back to this horrible hospital of horror.I will make sure everybody knows how racist this place is.

My father in-law went in for hip replacement surgery on Tuesday. The surgeon and outpatient staff were great. Because of his age, pain and time he got out of recovery they decided to go ahead and keep him overnight. They gave him pain meds when he got to the room then none until the next evening. Of course during the following day they wanted him to walk and move about. Day 3 they tried to catch up on pain control, gave him enough that shut down organ functions and put him in ICU. Dr Paul gets 5 stars Pavilion 9th floor gets 0

My daughter was admitted to this hospital from 3/24 - 4/18. During her stay she was diagnosed with gastroparesis after a gastric emptying study. On 4/16 after medication and other therapies were not working to maintain her nutritional status, she had a j tube placed via laparotomy. Starting at approximately 10pm on 4/17 through the day of discharge (4/18) she was reporting a 10+ out of 10 pain level while sobbing and crying out for someone to help her. Throughout the night, we were repeatedly told that she could not have anything else for pain (she received a dose of liquid norco via her j tube) in spite of her pain level, raise in blood pressure, and all the calls made by her nurse, charge nurse, and house supervisor. Several times she was asked to try not to be so loud since they had "other patients trying to sleep". Her father and I were told multiple times that we were welcome to take her somewhere else. The next morning, when the physicians came to round on her she tried to advocate for herself and request better pain management. The hospitalist Dr. Vossler put her hand up at my daughter and stated that she should be able to manage her pain with Tylenol. This was just hours after a physician from the surgical group Dr. Gengler (not HER surgeon Dr. Eason who was awesome) stated that she couldn't have pain medications because "He wasnt in the business of creating addicts". The entire stay was filled with physicians, NPP, and nurses who did not communicate with each other nor us (there were a few fantastic nurses), but the last 48 hours of her stay were cruel! I am a registered nurse, and I have NEVER seen such HORRIFIC care!!! Thankfully, the physician and nursing staff at St. Luke's hospital were able to get her pain under control! I do think that it is worth mentioning that my daughter had been a patient at your hospital back in Feb for a lap chole and the experience was beyond wonderful. I am at a loss for words on how one patient can receive such extreme opposite levels of care from the same hospital.

Depends on your doctors/nurses (of course) but I've been treated very well here. Rooms are large w/ a great view. Nurses are very considerate during the night hours as well. The cafeteria has a large room service menu that isn't half bad tasting!

Charley Clarissa

This has been a pretty great hospital for emergencies. The nurses are professional and give quality care. For existing conditions, Obgyn, or neurology, I would not recommend those departments. The neurosurgeons bounced me from three doctors, until I researched to find a better group. I was not impressed with the women’s clinic after the office was redesigned and the wait became ridiculously long. I do not like the medical field to be disorganized. In an emergency I would go here, but not for a referral.

Randall Sorensen

They let me lay for 2 hours in er in terrible pain. And when I wanted to leave they walked away I couldn't move had my leg cut off

Scott Sonderegger

Excellent medical care at its finest. They took both my appendix and gall bladder out. I love the food menu full of options...

Like all hospitals some can be good and some are North Kansas city hospital the staff is very trash.

Of all the hospitals I have had to go to over the past 5 years, North Kansas City is by far the best. They are very efficient for emergencies, have worked well with me when I was uninsured, and when I had to have surgery the nursing staff provided excellent care.

AMAZING hospital. Great staff and service. Thank you!!

I JUST called up there and the operator was being rude as hell and hung up on me. Like damn. What did I do?

Today April 15, 2019 would ever remain green in my mind. Why do I say this? Because I was denied entry into the theater to witness the birth of my baby. I had to call in at work in order to be with the entire process from start to finish. I went into the hospital through the front door at 2800 so excited and jovial and asked for directions as usual being a first timer and I was directed to the 7th floor. I got up to the 7th floor and a lady attended to me and asked for my name and who I was looking for. I gave her the required details and she said I should hold on that I can't be granted access to the theater room. I asked her why and she didn't give me a responsive answer. I respectfully left and went to the ground floor in order to use the hospital phone to talk to some one to know why I can't be in the theater room at least get some answers. Lo and behold a lady attended to me swiftly and even called the lady at the desk and she said I should come back upstairs that she was sorry. I went back to the same 7th floor and two policemen were present. I was surprised because policemen don't deliver babies right? Then it was when it dawned on me that it was the lady at the desk that called the cops. I didn't say a word and they escorted me out of the premises. I have no one to run to, and I don't know if there are any father's out there who has had the experience of having their baby to tell me how it usually works because right now I don't even have a clue on what it's like to welcome a baby into the world. Thank you North Kansas City hospital it was indeed a distasteful experience.

Phil D'Angelo

Amazing staff - friendly, cheerful and very knowledgeable. Amazing doctors. It's a welcoming and comfortable atmosphere. If you're looking for a hospital that does everything with kindness and compassion this is YOUR hospital!!

I highly disagree with Anna in regards to birthing here. I had top notch care when I was induced, and then a c-section ( that I ASKED for, not pushed into) on February 14, 2015. Dr. Heizman gave me excellent maternity care and showed much concern for my health while I was pregnant. I had pregnancy induced hypertension and she was on top of it the whole time. Then when it came to my c-section Dr. Saunders did an excellent surgical job, informed me of all the risks and was very professional. My entire surgical team was great! I can't wait to see everyone again in a couple of years for baby #2. Not to forget about the nursing staff, they checked on me every FOUR HOURS the entire length of my stay (five days), so I don't understand what happened with the other lady???

debra pumphrey

I enjoyed the majority of my drs visits and the encouragement about my condition, which is the serious stage of copd. I enjoyed talking and sharing my work as a copd advocate to do as much as I can with then.

A few years back this was the best hospital for Emergency Room visits. Yesterday I have to say I was tremendously disappointed. The nursing staff was great. They listened. Dr. Steven Russell was a jerk. Didn't take the time to talk to you. I can't say what it's been like recently for others but last night was not one of my better experiences.

MERITAS OBGYN. Terrible experience. If you dont know the hospital well make sure you take the time to do so. I showed up for my appointment at 125, my appointment was at 130. I arrived at 1 however I am not familiar w the hospital and got lost looking for the clinic. Due to getting lost I got into the meritas at 125 and the lady sitting at the counter clearly has no manners. I was not greeted whatsoever while the lady walked around and answered the phone, then said "yes?" Not how people should be greeted. She then looked me up and realised what I was there for she got up walked away came back then said "they want you to reschedule" ok..... As I replied "but im not late" her: "they wanted you to be here at 1" again I was not told to be there 30 mins early EVER. I even called earlier that day to verify the location and WAS NOT told to arrive 30 mins early. With that being said I would like to thank they lady at the door whomever she was that perhaps if she was a little more friendly and maybe just maybe put a smile on her face then perhaps people might want to show up earlier or better yet that might KEEP the new customers!!!!!!!

Melanie Rogers

I was in excruciating pain in my female organs. ER had me wait for 4+ hours. Only person that cared was the original intake lady and a "candy striper" The ER doctor was rude and made me feel like I was there for hard drugs. The nurse kept asking why I even came there and if my regular doctor took me off of pain pills...? I'm in the stages of menopause and I just needed relief until my upcoming specialist appointment. I would love to see that male Doctor curl up in a fetal position hurting for 4 days, followed by a blood bath and passing blood clots that are so painful you cant see straight. Zero compassion. Oh btw, 8+ hours later, thanks for the naproxen prescription. I would have been better off pulling a Clint Eastwood..slugging whiskey and getting myself out of misery. These punks that have misused drugs have ruined it for all of us truly in need. These Doctors need to quit treating everybody like they're a drug addict. Even the nice people in the waiting room couldn't believe they made me wait so long.

This has hospital is really starting to line up with center point medical center. Had my wife in there just today for several stomach pains and some serious issues that have been going on for a month now and all they could do is set her in a room draw blood pee in a cup and send her down the road I'm mean come on if you doctors don't want to help people then what's the point of your operation. Why so you can over charge people thousands of dollars to afford your high style life that's rediculous. People come to you for help and you turn them away because setting on your a##'# is so much more important it shouldn't be weather they have good insurance or non at all you should be whole heartingly and willing to do your top notch best for everyone else if it meant they couldn't pay right away. I mean you wouldn't want some one half a##ing your car at a mechanic shop or your food at a high end restaurant would you? No so why half. A## your job with people's health get it together

My son had his appendix out at this hospital. As a nurse myself, I was very impressed with the care given. The staff were kind, professional, and well educated. I'd definitely recommend this hospital. Thank you NKCH!

Be aware before going there. Make sure to get some ideas about hospital charges first (but no one works at hospital will tell you how much it costs till you got the surprised bill from them). Their Patient Representative (Susan) - they are rude and no help at all - they will not listen to you just keep telling you that is what you need to pay and hang up your phone. Be Aware!!

I have been to this hospital many times and I delivered my child there about a year ago. All the staff there is very friendly and made my birthing experience amazing. Every employee that I have came in contact with, even the room service employees have been very friendly. I highly recommend this hospital to anyone, it's one of the best in Kansas City.

Amanda Hughes

If you are in need of emergency room services, I strongly advise against NKCH. I went in for a stomach virus after three days of not being able to hold anything down. All they did was take my vital signs, tell me I was fine, and send me home without so much as a prescription for nausea. I was still vomiting constantly for a week after that. Shortly after this incident, I was taken back to NKCH for a suicide attempt, where the staff treated me like the lowest of life forms. They refused to give me water after they asked me to give a urine sample, the nurse told me I had one minute to give the sample before they would use a catheter, and started counting down when I began trying to give the sample. I told her in a not-so-nice way that what she was doing was unacceptable, and she told me to shut up, and that I wasn't allowed to speak. I reminded her that Americans are granted Freedom of Speech under the First Amendment, and she literally said "no, you surrendered your rights when you decided to slit your wrists". At some point during this visit, they had a nurse draw my blood without gloves on. Having worked in the medical field myself, these actions were highly unsafe and illegal. In a health care setting, it is required under standard precautions that you always wear gloves where bodily fluids are involved, for both the safety of the patient and the medical staff. Months after these visits, I received a very expensive bill from them, even though they had my insurance info, and these visits would have been covered. I refuse to pay for the so-called "service" I received from their incompetent staff. In conclusion, the staff here are extremely cruel, unwilling to provide adequate treatment much of the time, and have no regard for the laws put in place to protect the health of patients and staff. This hospital needs to be shut down asap.

Steven Barron

Absolutely the best hospital to go to for care, Nurses were amazing, They even have chairs that massage you, Everything from check in to discharge everybody was so nice.

Marge VanPraag

I was having an allergic reaction and was treated very well by all ER staff and processed quickly. Dr. Jason Graham was personable and respectful. I am glad I was there for this emergency situation.

Rosa Vega

My Dad was treated with the most respect. He is 89 years old and they always made him feel special. Thank you NKC Nurses

Shanon Mills

I normally am not the type of person to write a review, especially a negative one, but I travel for work a lot and have personally been to many different ERs and I have never had such an negative front desk experience. I had to be taken to this hospital while working in Kansas City for what turned out to be a Kidney Stone. I'll start with the positive: Once I actually got into an actual exam room, my experience was very pleasant. The nurses were great ( I believe my personal nurse was Ashley) and understanding of just how much pain I was in and Dr. Ryan was kind and informative. Before that though, the two people behind the desk at check in and the first nurse I saw in triage need to work a bit on their bedside manner, as they were pretty un-pleasant. They acted as if I wasn't writhing in pain-and I got the feeling they thought I was just being dramatic. (And from what I have heard and read about kidney stones my reactions were pretty normal) They didn't smile once or try to help me relax or feel like everything was going to be okay. I was clearly alone and in a lot of pain. They were very uncommunicative as to how long I would be waiting and when I asked why my hands were going numb they simply said, "because you're hyperventilating." Unfortunately it just made me more frustrated at the situation and certainly didn't help with calming my breathing. :/ So, if you do end up here, just know even if the front desk seems like they could care less about how I feel, the people who will actually be treating you are wonderful, kind and professional! I just hope there isn't some sort of rotation because I would never want those nurses by my bedside. :(

Tim Warren

I LOVE THE STAFF HERE VERY FRIENDLY,THANKS AGAIN TO EVERYONE ON THE 9TH FLOOR WEST.....YOU'RE ALL AWESOME.

im confused i live in kansas so i went to kansas city to go to a hospital and it said i was in missouri. terrible service

Dash Williams

I wish I could give this hospital a zero. Back in the day (2008), I remember going to NKC hospital to submit my application and resume' as a registered nurse. I was so excited... But when I arrived, the only thing I received was disappointment. I've always heard about their human resource discrimination, but I refused to believe it. Yes, they hired black people...in servant roles. The HR person engaged in conversation with her friend for about 43 minutes without acknowledging my presence. When she finally acknowledged my presence, she stated that NKC wasn't hiring and walked away. She never introduced herself... Their were so many open positions for RN's on their website and my skill set definitely met the requirements. My caramel skin may have been the issue, but I never would have thought. All I know is racism continues to live, and I hate it.

Ted Zangerly

Horrible care

Lane Bergschneider

Receptionist in the Professional building was very rude and very slow, refused to talk to anyone unless he was working on their paperwork, doctor told me paperwork should take 2 minutes but it’s taking almost an hour to finish my paperwork

Have always had great care at this hospital!

Debra Bledsoe

Dr. Jay Robinson - Neurology....Best Dr. ever. Kind. Compassionate. Knowledgable. Listens. Gets the whole picture of what's going on and takes into account everything to make sure his diagnosis is correct. A doctor that actually gives a damn.

Brenda Moore

4/20/2019: This hospital and their incompetent staff gave me a death sentence! I came in with a heart beat of 130+, a BP of 145/120 and rising. Yet you all said nothing was wrong and sent me home! More like you found out I didn't have insurance and refused to help. Now I have to go see a real doctor at KU Medical Center to see what's going with my heart. My symptoms are worse now than they were then and had this hospital done their damn job correctly, I would have answers for what's happening to me, rather than stupid staff casting hate glances for someone who doesn't have health insurance. Should something happen to me where I find myself unable to talk, barely able to breathe, and in fear my own life again, I won't be returning to NKC Hospital. I would rather die trying to get to KU Medical. For your information, NKC Hospital is 5 minutes from my house compared to KU Medical's 35-40 minute commute. The fact I can't even trust the hospital closest to me to act for the sake of one's life, this hospital should be ashamed of themselves.

Tory Young

My husband and I just had our first child at NKC in October. I was induced on a Sunday evening and gave birth Tuesday morning. The anesthesiologist was amazing! He did a perfect epidural. I could still feel everything and move but was not in pain. Not knowing what to expect or how the delivery was going to go was a little nerve-racking. The nurses were absolutely wonderful through the entire process. They are knowledgeable and try to make things as easy as possible. My husband wanted to be involved with the birthing process and that is exactly what the nurses did. They definitely set us up for success with all of the information and help the first couple days of our daughters life. During our recovery, the doctors did rounds and truly seemed like they cared. I never got the impression that I was just another number. I felt cared for and they were sure to let us know that they were there to help. There is no nursery, so baby stays in your room. One night our daughter was fussy and I needed a break so the nurse on night shift came and got her. I got some much needed rest and after I woke up, within a couple minutes of wanting her back, my daughter was back in my room. I got home and several days later I received a card from the nurses that were involved (which I'm sure is standard, but still something they did not have to do but did anyways) I can not say enough great things about my experience and this hospital. Amazing place to have a baby. The facilities are beautiful. Thank you all so much for the wonderful experience.

Ceciliaa Turnerr

I am extremely disappointed with the staff. I filled out my basic information at the emergency room and when i handed it back to the staff one woman in particular was very rude to me because I told her I didn’t have a social security number and she said she was going to put my papers in the shredder. I waited for over 4 hours in the waiting room and no one ever came. Patients who came after me were being seen before me and when I asked the lady how much longer it would be she gave me an attitude and said my case wasn’t serious enough. Although I was constantly vomiting every few minutes and was severely dehydrated, they refused to take me seriously. This is one of the worst hospitals I’ve ever been to, I would definitely not recommend to anybody.

Mrs. S.Starr

ER sucks.....been waiting now for 3 1/2 hrs to be put in a room. Nurses are too busy eating and checking their cell phones, instead of getting people helped. Go elsewhere.....
