I had my son at CSH, and I couldn't have asked for a better experience! It was more like a hotel stay than a hospital visit. The nurses and doctors were very supportive, informative, and genuinely caring! The environment is great, and the food was good, too. ;) The Lactation Consultants have also been literal lifesavers through the breastfeeding support group. The free valet service is also very helpful.

Community hospital and Saint Francis has very rude and unprofessional staff

John Frank

My 4 year old was scared to go to the doctor, but they were incredible and she somehow ended up having a great time. The staff, RNs, and doctor made her feel like she was at a Doc McStuffins camp. They even gave her stuffed animal a checkup. Great place to take a young child for sure!

Mark Perry

My brother was admitted there in late April and passed away there 4 days later. The nursing staff and hospice folks were over the top. I can not explain how impressed my entire family was by their compassion. One nurse who was with us the most, Angie L. actually cried with us when he passed away. For such a terrible week, I wouldn't have wanted to be anywhere else.

Elaine Hacker

Overall pretty well hospital . Way better then st Francis That’s for sure ! Community south is way more professional and their staff is actually warming , they care about their patients.

While in the ER, I had been told by a doctor Jack E. Bonham, in a very rude way that I was, “Such an inconvenience”, after simply asking for a blanket because I was cold. The other staff was at least very nice to me and made me feel more comfortable than the doctor I was seen by. In the situation I was in, this instantly made me more upset, and very angry. I will be talking with a supervisor in the morning about my experience because I felt that was disrespectful, wether he was trying to make a joke, lighten the mood, or whatever it be. That was not the right place, time, or person to be saying that to. I don’t feel there is ever a good time to say that to someone, especially a patient who was clearly upset and in distress. Isn’t the main goal to take care of every patient and make them feel comfortable and safe in your care?

Danielle Harrison

It’s pretty sad when you come in, in pain only to be treated as a drug seeking junkie. Staff was extremely rude and we won’t be coming here again my husband was in serious pain from his shoulder and not only did they do nothing for him but the nurse was patronizing and altogether disrespectful. I get that people come in seeking drugs but when someone is in actual pain for them to treat him that way was absolutely ridiculous.

Kevin Watkins

Rude insensitive staff. Took 24 hrs to find out my mother had a heart attack while in their care. While not all staff are so rude, these people should be required to take annual sensitivity training....

Kayla Hinshaw

I delivered both of my son's here and will be delivering the Third my doctor is Doctor Ipema and he's absolutely amazing very educated and always explains things to where I understand it and does his best to accommodate what I would like to have done recommend him to absolutely everyone. he's amazing

09/2017 I am incredibly impressed with the ER staff. The communication between staff and with us, was phenomenal. If we were waiting, we knew why and approx how long. (Tests coming back, etc) Staff was all kind, informative, and pleasant.

Been sitting in the emergency room with my mom for 7 hours !!!!! Absolutely ridiculous!

Having to wait for an hour for my husband to be seen waiting in the waiting room told them he's having hard time breathing and they didn't care kept him out in the waiting room. Poor service.

Hate IU west so I come here instead

My Dad just had a cataract removed yesterday at your hospital. Just want to say that he and i were impressed by the care, understanding, professionalism, and general upbeat atmosphere we experienced. "Thanks!" to Marcell, Mai Lee, Janay and the staff for making us feel like real people and getting him through it. All the best to you, Dr. Lanter, and the department.....the Piety Family.

Meiranda Zook

Every nurse was helpful for my stay but one I had to call for my air to be turned off when eat and back on when done so did that and was talk I should of pushed it to the side and she could of got it later then walked out and started talking to every one else at nurse station.

Please understand the Star rating does not afford the opportunity to rate several levels of satisfaction. Doc and Surgeons is a 5 star. Billing is a 1 star or lower. Two years 5 procedures, slash, surgeries!, I am getting there (health) personally. Billing is insane regarding information or cooperation. I called three times for explanation's and assistance with who, what and where to pay. Each time Tanya said she would call me back for an appointment, "face to face" for a clarification and a resolution, nothing. I want to pay this debt but "nothing". Its no wonder the health care system is jacked up. Nobody seems to care. Good luck to all in the future. Update: after persistence and cooperation from billing. My Bride and I met with the Boss at Community. After compiling our data; we came to a solution that made everybody happy.

The medical professionals here at Community Hospital South have, in my admittedly non-professional opinion, done a superb job in caring for my 84yo mother, who has been suffering from acute pneumonia due to chronic emphysema and COPD. They've worked extremely hard to not only return my mother to the highest quality of life under very difficult circumstances, but also provided consistently top-notch attention to her needs and comfort while doing their utmost to treat her underlying pathologies. Dr. Krishna and the Pulmonary experts on staff are to be commended for their pursuit of excellence in the consistently high quality of geriatric patients -- a demographic that is all too often overlooked by many central Indiana medical facilities. Congratulations and sincere thanks.

Best hospital around. Best staff hands down

I went there for my delivery with Dr. James Webb. I ended up having to have an emergency c-section, started hemorrhaging, had to go back for a second surgery but it went perfect. all of the staff was kind, attentive and understanding of every question that I had. I originally had chosen St Francis as my hospital of choice but I am genuinely pleased with my choice. I will definitely be coming back here if I ever have another child. I loved my stay.

If I could give the billing department a -5 star review I would. Three years in a row they have messed up on different visits - double charged, delayed charging until my deductible started over, added on “$751 in new charges” once they found out I had insurance, and the list goes on. Unless you are dying or desperate, AVOID using this hospital as you will pay out the noise for years to come and never truly know what you are paying for each time. I have multiple paper statements to validate these claims. Community Management feel free to contact me if you want to make this right and explain how this keeps happening. Once I find a different doctor group you better believe I’m leaving this network and not looking back.

I delivered here and the labor and delivery team are amazing. Everyone was friendly and was an active listener. I ended up having a PPH and needed to go to the OR. The staff worked quickly and stopped the bleeding. After the PPH they identified that I needed a blood transfusion. I received the blood in a timely manner after they received my hematocrit numbers. They made sure I was informed of what was going on every step of the way. I would definitely recommend them!

The RN, Jake on staff this evening was by far very rude, blunt and dismissive. He had an attitude and was not friendly nor compassionate to the situation at hand. The room itself in the emergency room was filthy! There was dried blood, urine and dirt on the floor. The whole experience was terrible! Drive the extra 5miles and go to st. Francis! Avoid this hospital and especially JAKE. Highly disappointed!

My daughter has just given birth to her daughter there. Before delivery, she was given some type of psychological evaluation, while in labor (she had a difficult labor and emergency c-section.) After delivery, while recovering, she was given another evaluation, and apparently the doctor issuing the evaluation told her he didn't feel she would be capable of taking care of her child. My daughter is not depressed, nor shows any signs of postpartum depression; she does have high anxiety levels. Now, because this doctor feels this way, she has to see a psychologist before being discharged! There is NOTHING wrong with my daughter's mental state! And why would she be the only one to receive an evaluation, and not the child's father as well? This only adds to my daughter's anxiety, that she also has to worry about why this doctor feels she is an unfit mother, after not even 48 hours after giving birth!

ZERO STAR REVIEW! WAS ADMINISTERED A MED IM ALLERGIC TO AFTER I VERBALLY ANNOUNCED MY ALLERGY. I was there for 4 hours. My nurse had no clue why i was even there for about an hour. I hit my call light 3 times and it was never answered. I was connected to vital machines an hour after i got in my room. I was given a medication AFTER I VERBALLY told the nurse I was allergic, she told me to take it anyway and they could give me benadryl as a counter active!!! My bed side rails were left up even after I requested them to be down. I felt imprisoned and abused by this medical staff and I wouldn't send a drowning rat here for help. Ive posted many reviews about it and my lawyer will be taking care of the rest. I took out my OWN IV and returned home. Out of curiosity I called 20 mins after being home AMD THEY SAID I WAS STILL THERE!!!! HAHAHA what a laughing stock. DO NOT GO HERE

I went to an Immediate Care for 2nd degree (possibly 3rd degree) burns. They instructed me to go to the ER. I came to Community South and the wait was not very long. I am thankful for that. I have very large blisters all over my chest. They acted as though it was merely just a sunburn and told me to put cold compresses on it. I had already been doing that for 2 days. I asked the nurse for a prescription for Silvadine cream and she told me I could buy it over the counter. I told her that it was prescription only. She argued with me until I told her I was a pharmacy Technician and I know for a fact that you need a prescription. A few blisters had already opened, I was worried about infection, they were not. I realize what I had was not an EMERGENCY, but I was sent there by the Immediate Care. Only to be treated as an inconvenience.

The doctors are rude and insulting. They don't want to listen to a patient that has dealt with there illnesses and pain for a long time and know what has worked in the past. They are more worried about showing you how smart they are and how stupid the you are. I've taken Linda to this ER and spent 7 or 8 hrs there just to have the doctor send her home to come back the next day and be admitted for sepsis. Leaving to go to St. Francis.

Sarah L.

The staff was very nice and it was easy getting in to see the doctor. We saw Dr. Mary Mayers in the Cancer Center. When you first walk in you check in at the counter. Once that's done an employee, for lack of a better term, escorts you upstairs to your doctor's office.... kind of strange. Anyway the doctor was cut and dry which is that we like since we don't like dealing with doctors anyway.

I'm sort of a "frequent flyer" over the years. This was the first hospital we came to from our house many years ago when we needed emergency care. In recent years I have been taken to this ER for 2 strokes. The cause of the first was mis-diagnosed and a congenital condition was missed that led to the 2nd stroke. I don't know if anyone can be blamed for this or not. The second stroke a few years later was taken very seriously and the cause was found. It was an ASD, PFO that is the wall between top chambers of my heart did not close at birth 64 years before. They worked hard to find this and I was referred to an excellent Community cardiologist who performed the procedure to close the defect. I had excellent care in every way while at the hospital. I also use their lab for blood draws after many, many years of painful experiences at the other MACL labs. Lab people who work in the hospital seem to be better skilled at this procedure. Also an ENT who did sinus surgery on me a couple of years ago said that I could use either hospital but the other one one the south side was more expensive--if cost matters to someone.

If you can choose a different hospital or emergency room, do it. In four visits my wife and I have had over the past month, with the exception of one nurse, the staff has been rude and not at all understanding. Wait times, both in the waiting room and in the room, have been outrageous. We will never be back to this hospital.

My son went to the ER yesterday 1-7-18 for flu like symptoms. Never checked for the flu. Sent out with cough meds and an inhaler. Goes to the pediatrician today and he has Influenza A. Way to go Community South . Getting as bad as some other ER's in Johnson County.

Lisa Massey

Competition, efficient, & friendly staff.

This review directly reflects the east unit nursing staff on the 3rd floor. On a scale from 1-10 my rating is -4 in ALL aspects of health care. PLEASE take your loved ones anywhere else if you are told that they will be put in this unit.

They miss diagnosed my son with a stomach bug twice and just tossed pills at him.. Took him to Riley and found it wasn't a stomach bug his stomach had moved up into his esophagus .. I could have lost my child because they didn't take the time to find out what was really going on with him. I wouldn't recommend this place to my worst enemy .

Matthew Beaumier

Waited in the ER for 20 minutes to see a patient. Horrible service.

I don't like the way this campus is laid out, non-emergency service is slow and the food sucks. However I can't knock them too hard because they actually saved my life once in an emergency.

This hospital is so professional, beginning when you drive in! I have the option of free valet parking, or parking myself in their free parking lot. The folks at the information desk are extremely kind. I can't say anything that needs to be redone there! Awesome place when you have a health need!

Cheryl R

I just underwent a painful and unnecessary procedure because there was a typo on an ultrasound report read by one of the physicians. Extremely unprofessional. I will NEVER go there again for anything. Errors like this put people's lives in jeopardy.

Cynthia Lough

Been here for almost 4 1/2 hours. No one comes in to check on you. Been waiting awhile for test results, have asked two different people and still nothing. This is very irritating, I realize they are busy and expected to be here awhile but to get totally ingnored. The pain medicine they gave is wearing off it's been so long since I've seen somebody. Pressed call light and still nothing.

Paulette Donovan

I was in the emergency room for injured hand. Was taken right in waited about three to five minutes. Three nurses came in took vitals, listened to what I had to say. Very respectful treated like a first class citzen. They brought X-ray in to me I know five or 10 minutes later. They apologized for the wait time. Very efficient, and fast. There maybe an hour. I was very impressed with all of the staff! They all have my vote. Oh, and I have never been there before. Sorry, for the rant but they are my new hospital!

Serenity James

Mary Brokering

Very friendly and helpful . They give you a great eye care service.

William Mathis

You have a ER nurse who’s name is DeAnn Renee Garner that is on social media that has said “I can eat a sandwich over a dead body”. I find that very disturbing as an ER nurse for over 20 years working for your staff.

Angela R

I was admitted for sepsis in this hospital 4 years ago. Symptoms had me concerned today so I went back. I hear so much about how people are misdiagnosed and dismissed causing major health issues later from sepsis. The doctor's did not dismiss me. While all my tests came out negative, they ran them. They took blood cultures to be safe so if it is mild they can start treating me asap. They make me feel like they actually care about taking care of me.

Best experience all around with staff being caring, to cleanliness, and being taken care of. Recommend 100%

Hands down the nicest maternity nurses I've ever met. Sarah and Leslie were incredibly kind and supportive. I hope to see them again when my little one actually decides to come into the world.

Our experience was horrible from the beginning. My wife wad totally left out of being with me prior to my surgery. I asked 3 different nurses to bring her back but not one could take the time. Needless to say she was quite worried, stressed and angry. She has always been beside before even the most minor of surgeries. And the care I received after I was taken to my room was inefficient, somewhat uncaring and in some cases neglectful. It would seem your hospital staff is either short on help or greatly overworked. We have always used Community Hospitals for our health issues. This was our first experience with South. Hopefully, our last. We both feel that patient/family care and compassion is lacking.

Don't come here if you are having chest pain they gave me a ekg and put me in waiting area for a hour and a half

Melissa Tanner

You know it's fine and dandy when I went there for an infection I DO NOT APPRECIATE ALL THE TEXTS AND CALLS FOR A SURVEY THAT I DO NOT WISH TO PARTICIPATE ON! Stop harrassing your former patients. Thanks.

Puneeth Kamath

I spent 2 hours in emergency department due to stamach pain, the billing amount is 6700 USD..shocking and disgusting...I would never visit this hospital again.

Kylee Bledsoe

This place is a joke I got seen by a doctor in the er and was not helped at all

My mom was admitted into the hospital after my father took her in for extreme abdominal pain two days ago. They ran tests, did two ct scans, two x rays, a little blood work, and gave her a couple of shots of morphine (which didn’t help ease her pain). There was no drip set up or fluids given even though when asked her to give a urine sample she couldn’t even do that. What did they do?? For the majority of her time there they left her and my father alone. They’re seniors. Not only was she released with nothing more than news of a “diverticulitis flare up” diagnosis but she was made to feel like a junkie. Yep, they made my 73 year old mother feel like she was making the whole thing up to get morphine! She was no better off last night but because she was made to feel worthless she refused to go back to the hospital. The whole ER staff needs to remember why they went into medicine in the first place. Because clearly, they’re bedside manner and empathy have gone! Update; after my mother’s experience at Community we instructed my father to take my mom to St Francis if he deemed it necessarily. Sunday was another very bad day/night so he did so. She’s been admitted and they’ve found that she has an infection in her intestines and are clearing that up and then scheduling her for surgery to remove part of it. The people in the ER at Community not only offered her below standard of care but were incompetent as well.

I've always been treated well at community south but there's a specific lady that is absolutely disrespectful and had such a disgusting attitude and shouldn't be around people at all, her name is Cindy I believe, she answers incoming calls. Not sure what else she does but she should be written up for her awful attitude.

If I could rate lower I would not even give it a 1 star. I waited a hr to even get my vitals checked after walking in an another hr to get back to a er room
