I walked into the er today, with blood all over my hard and my head was split open. I was greeted to a line, in which I waited for about 10mins. Then when I was helped at the desk she wrapped my head and gave me a buzzer like I was at Texas Roadhouse. I sat in the waiting room for 1hr 45mins, I had time to smoke a cigarette. Then I walked up to the desk and was told "we know youve been waiting" and finally shown to a very small hospital room, the bed barely fit. I then waited for 30mins and pressed the call button, a nurse arrived and told me not to do that. I then got to speak to my "doctor". She told what she had planned and left. I had time to order Jimmie John's, and get my sandwich, easily an hour. Then the doctor arrived and had a med student do my stitches, after he finished he told me a nurse would be in shortly, after 20mins I just left. This was a nightmare.

The staff here is rude, unprofessional, and should all be replaced by people who are grateful to be there and want to take care of people. I can't wait to take my business elsewhere!

Sherry Gonzalez

So sitting on a gurney in the hallway having to listen to unprofessional staff, talking loud about patients' experiences and fellow co-workers personal lives, while I'm hooked up to an IV. Very disturbed by the way the emergency is run with multiple patients waiting to be seen. Sad situation for patients who are sick.

HORRIBLE service. I woke up at 5AM in horrible lower back pain like I had never had before (Kidney stones) I thought I was dying. I had an ambulance rush me to Community hospital in hope for pain relief and answers. I was left laying in a room for close to 20 minutes screaming and crying in pain with nurses walking by my room giving my wife and I dirty looks. I was in so much pain and so scared, we honestly thought I was dying! When the doctor finally did come in the room, he was short with us, and raised his voice at my wife. He was in the room for maybe 45 seconds, and said he was going to have a nurse bring pain medicine, and take me down for a CT scan, (which was a bad experience in itself, because they left me laying in the room, half naked, cold, and alone, in pain for another 20 minutes.) When my wife tried asking the doctor questions, he responded, saying "I'm not going to argue with you" and stormed out of the room. In the end, they gave me a small amount of pain medicine, and sent me home. I wish they could have resolved this issue, because it is now the next day and I am running out of pain medicine, and I am still in pain from this kidney stone that I have yet to pass. I'll never go back to community!

In 2016 I went to this hospital complaining of sharp chest pains that appeared out the blue I had just had my daughter back in December when i went there she was only 1 or 2 months at the time cause it was either February or january when it happened they were more concern about why I brought my 2 month old daughter with me then attending to my needs and while I was trying to find out what's going on with me they called cps on me and later cps took my child I now have a son another child they took him to after birth and now I'm pregnant with my third I'm still dealing with them today and they are taking advantage of me since they got involved i been struggling, hurting, stressing, suffering, homeless, arguing with my childrens father mostly over the situation and because of stress having to deal with cps and more this wasn't that long ago my daughter is one in a half years old now and my son is going on 1 year i had him 1 year ago and my daughter almost 2 years ago the doctors said the reason my chest was hurting was because of post partum depression which is common they didn't treat me for it if i did and they lied to cps saying that they didn't know why I brought my daughter with me and I wasn't attending to her

Was here almost a week. Everyone was telling me different things. They denied me even water this entire time. Most of the nurses were nice, but I encountered one, and I have NO idea how she still has her job. He name was Maria in the surgery and recovery unit. Rude, and extremely lazy. Left me unhooked from my IV for an hour (to take a personal phone call, and forgot), caused a vein to blow, which resulted in my entire vein coming out with my IV when it was changed, and got upset when I requested my meds, because she was never on time. That isn't even the half of it. Asked the head nurse not to assign this horrible lady to me if she was there the following day, but not to make a big deal of it. The rude nurse found out about it, and that's when she really showed herself. Disrespected not only me, but my visitors, mocked my mother, showed sarcasm, and the ability to be a smart alic in front of my son, cause she had knew I made a complaint, that was supposed to be confidential. When the disrespect started, I told her she could stop, but she wanted the last word, and would not stop. I asked her numerous times to just leave, and she would rather mouth off, and make things worse. The hospital staff did NOTHING of her behavior. She even called me out of my name, and insinuated I was a drug addict, because I requested my pain meds she was trying to avoid giving me, although ordered by the doctor. From the moment she was disrespectful, I refused all meds, and pretended I was in no pain, and felt 100% times better even though I didn't, because it was the only way I was going to be released. You should feel comfortable when you are admitted into the hospital, not to be to feel like garbage, and mistreated by the people who are there to help. I will die before I go back to this hospital for anything. As much as I enjoyed the other nurses, one bad apple spoils the bunch, and I can not comprehend how she could treat a patient this way and have no repercussions. Patients are definitely not their top priority at this hospital. She seemed more fit working in the cafeteria than to be dealing with patients.

I've gone to this hospital 2 times now. Both times were for my daughter. Each time we visited they took her back to a room immediately. They ran all necessary tests both times before giving a diagnosis. They explained everything and were very sweet with her. I was hesitant to come here first visit because of all the reviews but I'm glad I came. Would def reccomend this hospital.

Anytime I've ever been here, the day time staff is HORRIBLE. I'm currently sitting in a hospital room with my fiancé listening to the bing bong the pagers for the nurses make. We've now been listening to that sound for FORTY FIVE MINUTES. The nurses just ignore the patients here. He has not had his pain medication for a collapsed lung in 4 and a half hours because they are sitting out at the desks playing on their phones laughing it up as they share funny pictures there finding on the internet. They just ignore calls from patients. The night staff on the other hand, and the er staff are ON IT. They need to have more people like Dr Ross and the nurse Kevin they have because those two were absolutely AMAZING. They were efficient and kind. They kept his spirits up as the inserted a tube into his lung and Kevin checked on him constantly. As for his doctor today, he doesn't have one. At least not one who has taken the time to see him at all. And his nurse has been in twice. All day. Its 3 o'clock in the afternoon. Horrible HORRIBLE place. Unless its the closest place to you in an absolute emergency, save your self the trouble and stress of coming to this hell hole.

James Studer

I used to think bad about this place but the drs. And staff are very nice and professional

Kelly LeVine

This is the worst hospital I have ever been to and I'm 57!

Well , I was just released from the Commumity East Hospital after havng to be operated on or gall bladder removal last weekend . The experience I had was a very great one . Now I must admit , you do habe to wait a while , but not too long . But I also understood why I had to wait . There were other people in front of me and their medical needs aew just as important as mine . The doctor is so silly . He makes me laugh . But he's very good as a surgeon and doctor of internal . I would like to take this time and thank the entire staff at Commumity East Hospital located at 1500 Ritter Avenue here in Indianapolis for the professional care given to me . Thanks you guys .. Love you to infinity and back . ❤

First off. This place ia disgusting. It smells like urine and vomit. The people who work here are complete morons. How many times do you have to tell them your allergies before they get it right? And then we get to the doctors. Rudest people I've ever met. Screaming and making a scene, calling m a liar when I have paperwork to prove what I was saying. Refusing to treat me because he didnt believe I have the condition I do infact have. The condition the dotors from Community North told him I have. But no. No treatment. Coming here was a complete waist of time and effort. I will be reporting everyone that touched me. From the rough treoge nurse to the idiot lady from billing. DO NOT GO HERE!!

They took really good care of my daughter and her new baby. Thank you

Robert Buckner

Excellent hospital and Doctors plus treatment and care!

aiden7937

My sister in law went there because she is pregnant and they told her that they had to take the baby out because it was an etopic pregnancy and was not, she went to another hospital and the baby is good, she is 6 weeks now! Another time my friend went there for her pregnancy and they did a malpractice on her and she lost her baby!

Kelle Davis

I absolutely love this hospital, the staff is awesome, they actually care about the patient and do everything possible to help you get well! Their thorough care and excellent team work saved my life.

Clarence Young

Went to the emergency room barely able to walk for the same problems I've had for several years. They ran some tests and discharged me. Not good.

Ben Rogers

We received compassionate and prompt care with a minimal wait in the ER. Both the nurse and physician were excellent in their roles. I’m grateful to have this 24 hour hospital in our neighborhood, especially given the lack of 24 hour urgent care services in Indy.

leangry tovar

I don’t even know where to star....

Alijah Cistrunk-Hearn

They were very rude. They do not care about their patients.. I rather travel downtown to IU or to Community Hospital North.

S B

I've been to many hospitals and this is by far the worst. The nursing staff is incompetent and doesn't bother to listen to doctor's orders. They follow different rules about medication and have illegally denied me my medication at least once a day for five days now. One nurse named Kristen was abusive to me. I can't get help with bathing. They messedu my diet requirements. I contacted a patient advocacy center and they had a lawyer call me within an hour ready to file a lawsuit. I was told that the way they run things is commonplace and that I'm lucky things haven't been worse.

Jennifer Sokol

I had to take my friend here due to depression after losing a parent. Candace our assistant that was in charge of making sure he stayed in his room and Sylvester the security guard made sure our experience was the best possible.....considering

Took my daughter in for nursemaides elbow they decided to take x-rays that weren't necessary and told me her are wasn't broken and she was fine my daughter left in the same pain and was up all night screaming. I eventually fixed it myself horrible service doctors are lazy and don't care. I actually wonder if that doctor wasn't high. He certainly wasn't acting normal

Dawn Bowman

95% of the staff who cared for me was amazing. The hospital was very clean. I felt well cared for most of the time

Brooke Zannell

Lindsey McGlaughlin

Went in for a visit about a reoccurring issue for severe vaginal blood clotting and the doctor pretty much said “oh it should fine” and have a huge bill for that visit...

Rose Jackson Buckley

If I could give no stars I would. This hospital is awful. The staff and doctors were extremely condescending and sarcastic. Terrible customer service. They nickel and dime you and come up with ways to deny you financial assistance (even though we qualified, but were one day late in sending documentation in). You are only interested in the profits, NOT people.

Dennis Lohan

I had a very serious DVT and during my 6 day stay and treatment I never once thought that I wasn't being accorded the finest of care and treatment. The nurses, doctors and support staff were/are some of the nicest and most caring people I have ever met. I will always be appreciative of how well these folks treated and cared for me. I am truly grateful for their returning me to being on the road to good health. Thank you.

Justin Welhoelter

I got a few pics of the "cleanliness" of the room i was in, not sure what was on the floor or bed but i know it wasnt clean. Anyway doc had no gloves and everyone there except security had a very rude kinda look on there face as if they were suspicious of something, i couldnt walk on my right foot and was never offered ice or even ibuprofen. I eventualy hobbled out after being told to use an ace bandage and ice. Still cant walk on it and got the treatment i expected out of community east

kemya turner

Just killed a filthy roach, I'm dead and done. Drops the mic.

Taking for ever . And theres a nice spot of blood on the bed ;)

I can't complain. They have taken very good care of me through my cancer ordeal. They found my cancer on my first visit when the hospital I was going to missed it after complaining about my problems for three years. The doctors I see are very caring and informative. They constantly check on me. My PCP, GYN oncology, chemotherapy and radiation doctors are great. Seriously I can't complain.

My mom had the best care from ER to critical care to 3n tower to 3s tower her care was genuine. All staff members Excellent my family could not ask for better care .My brother and I stayed over visiting time no problem we love CHE.

Corinne DeBaun

It depends where you visit in that hopital. I go to the eye clinic on floor 2. Staff is very caring and a joy to be around.

!!!Zero stars!!! ~ I was seen at Community East Hospital 3/2/2019 and was misdiagnosed!! I ended up getting and a major infection cellulitis (MRSA). I was admitted for 3 days and billed about $10k. To keep this review short but not sweet, the physician (g) that seen me on my initial visit did not investigate my symptoms or run any blood work. He was in and out of my room in 5 minutes and didn’t wear any gloves. I am a nurse and I am so disgusted with the service I received at this Horrible Hospital. I was contacted by the hospital’s patient experience department and I am still waiting for a follow up call. If this hospital does not resolve my issue I will gather up some people and picket along with getting channel 6 news involved. This hospital is a joke and should be held accountable for their mistreatment of the patients that put trust in them to provide quality care!!! I WOULD NOT RECOMMEND THIS HOSPITAL TO MY WORST ENEMY!!!

_AnBu _

I had my baby at East Hospital year ago. It was great experience even though it was my first delivery and not really smooth. Dr Wheeler is professional

Melissa Gibbs

There is a ER nurse name April that is the worst, unsympathetic, sarcastic, rude person you could ever encouter. The actual hospital staff is great. But ER is the last place u want to be in this hospital. Long waits while staff is on cell phones and they order unnecessary test to run up hospital bills. April is the worst of them all!

karen stafford

November 2015, a date to remember. I had back surgery at community east and had to stay what was to be over night. While I was being cared for The nurses restricted me to my bed not letting me walk or move at all even though the Doctor didn't restrict me, he wanted me to walk and move about but that was too much work for the nurses to do and so in restricting me or ( caging me ) as the put it caused D.V.T blood clots to form which I'm still fighting today at my own expense for the Eliquis 5mg I need two times a day. A word to the wise go to any other hospital if you can. This one is sub standard in my books..# the worst hospital in Indy...

Michael Porter

I love this hospital. I was treated exceptionally well by the entire staff during my stay. I continue to receive outstanding treatment on each and every visit, even during random phone calls and messages. They've so far done an amazing job taking the stress away from being in the hospital and needing treatments and such. The free parking there is very nice also.

Nora Harris

DO NOT VISIT COMM EAST ER!! UNLESS YOU'RE TRYING TO DIE! GO TO ESKENAZI! MY BOYFRIEND CAME TO ER BECAUSE HE LOST MOBILITY IN HIS LEGS AND KEPT FALLING. WENT FROM PERFECTLY HEALTHY 29 ATHLETIC TO BARELY ABLE TO WALK AFTER HITTING HIS BACK. TOOK HIM TO COMM EAST AND THEY SENT HIM HOME WITH MEDS AND NOTHING FURTHER. WEEKS LATER HE WAS WORSE SO WE WENT TO ESKENAZI WHERE THEY FOUND OUT HE HAD SPINAL STINOSIS. HIS VERTEBRATE WAS CRUSHING HIS SPINE AND COULD HAVE LED TO HIM BEING PARALYZED IF LEFT UNTREATED! HE IS CURRENTLY IN SURGERY AT ESKENAZI TO REMOVE AND REPLACE THE VERTEBRATE CRUSHING HIS SPINE! COMM EAST IS ABSOLUTELY HORRIBLE!

Came here for my sister because she was having pain which to her felt like her kidneys. After waiting in the ER they told her she had kidney stones . After sending her home with meds she was still having major pains . Took her to another hospital which told her she had an enlarged kidney and could possibly have died if she waited any longer for the proper surgery. Never again !!

Judith lipps

Horrible hospital. No one wants to take agency for their actions. They have no problem letting people die in their ER, but when it comes to tracking down a doctor to sign the death certificate, no one will do it. Cremations are delayed, families are screwed over on bills and what not. Do not go here. They are all rude when you need to track someone down and everyone seems to be an incompetent idiot. Because even if you die at their facility, they will find ways to continue to make life hell for you. Or rather, anyone you care about.

Troy Benefiel

Here for kidney stone, was taken very good care of, nurses, aids all very much willing to help

Vickie Gorski

I have be going to community east for close to 11 years now. Evwry one from the janatorial staff the volunteers nurses dr. Everyone has been healpful. Nice and makes me feel relaxed. The Dr.s spend time with you and they listen. The nurses are freat i just cant say enough about the community health network. Keep up the great work.

Katie Beth Maddox

In April, I went in to have X-Rays for what turned out to be a broken foot. I waited around 2 hours in a room, which they charged me $2,111 for, and on top of that, $157 for a pregnancy test I originally refused, because I knew I was not pregnant, and the only charge I had not disputed was the radiology fee of almost $200. The only thing they did was tell me my foot was broken and refer me out to a specialist. When I called their billing department to try and negotiate the bill, they told me that was not an option, and based on my income, I would not qualify for financial aid. Overall, I have had a highly negative experience, and would not recommend anyone use the emergency room at Community East unless you're literally dying and have no other options. Make the drive to IU Health. It is unfortunate a great community like Irvington has such little to offer it's residence in the way of healthcare.

Sandie Davis

Okay here are My experiences from East... first of All I lost my insurance and I was/ am community health care patient, whatever..: but because I had no insurance at time (which I thought I never lost

Jada Shelby

The main hospital is great, especially labor and delivery. If you need emergency care, however, expect to literally wait 10 hours for them to tell you they don't know what to do for you even during an admitted crisis situation. Jake, one of the nurses, needs his license taken away and a lesson in bedside manner. The ER truly does not care about their patients. Go somewhere else.

Kevin

Came in with EXTREMELY bad sharp, burning tooth pain at 11pm on a Saturday night and was turned away by the doctor and told to see the dentist. I cant believe a hospital can send someone away in pain.

Jason Dhalle

It was ok until I have been sitting here waiting since 8am for a doctor to show up and let me go home. Should have been done yesterday anyway but whatever. Still waiting for a doctor to show up so I can go home. 7 hours waiting now.

V1KINGberserker

I was on the phone for about two seconds with the operator although her tone was sweet, she was a sarcastic and rude. All I asked was there a person by the name of so and so, and she is like nope I don't have a this here and there and there no matter how you spell it. I promise her tone was nice but underneath she was treating me like I was stupid. Mind you the call was less then a minute.

Jessica Klinesmith

By far the worst experience I've ever had at a hospital. My father went to their emergency room at 2pm per his Nephrologist's orders. He is a insulin dependent person. He was not able to eat until almost 8:45pm. He also has very high blood pressure and administered a Saline Bolus, which increase it more, by the way! So after all that's said and done, his nurse Christianna, stuck her hand in his bag and started grabbing his property. She did not ask if he was carrying medications, she did not ask to search through his bag. I'm unaware of the policy at Community East, but I'm sure you can't go searching people without consent. From the time he got there around 2pm until the time he left 9:15-9:30, he didn't see the doctor until he got irate w the nurse around 9:15pm. At the end of it all, he decided to leave and the doctors main concern was it being HIS fault and it's his decision to leave. They didn't give an option to change nurses to deescalate the situation. Two thumbs down for this hospital.

If I could rate this hospital ZERO STARS I WOULD! The service is slow , nobody knows anything , and they didn't help me with my sickness! This place sucks!

Crissie Flowers-Ross

Very bad experience will never ever go or recommend CHE. My mother(Elwonda Jones) was hospitalized twice on both occasions the service was horrible, we were told the first time she was on drugs at the age of 70, and had given up the will to live they were so wrong, now just last week (6/13/2017) she got admitted (4TH floor rm 2472)for pneumonia which was we thought treated but they were persistent about giving her a feeding that was explained to them "feeding tube" is not up for discussion of a night time doctor has not called me on June 19th 2017, when I arrived to the hospital on June 20th 2017 she would have had an feeding tube. You know we were very upset, we demanded answers got nothing but apology she was released that day (Tue) with some new medications which one was a clodine patch we put the patch on her Thursday by Saturday my mother was unresponsive she had to be admitted but this time we came Community North. It seems she had a bad reaction to the patch she has had 3 seizures and is currently still here at CHN. My heart is just breaking for my mother cause right now everyone please say a prayer. Today June 26th is her birthday and she's in the hospital.

Noemi M Castellano

My son went in for a broken toe that sticking out to the side of his foot. They "set" it but 4 months later it's still sticking out. They obviously didn't set it properly. That should've been a simple fix but we are disputing this!!

The OB/Maternity Ward I was discharged yesterday and wanted to share my experience. Pros: 1. All of my nurses were friendly and team players, helping each other and seeking counsel from each other to make sure I received the best care. 2. All concerns and warnings about pregnancy and complications were explained to me clearly and concisely, by my doctor and by my nurses. 3. This OB ward does not have a nursery, which means that I have the highest level of individual attention on my child, and the lowest chance that my baby would be confused with another child or interact with another child. 4. All parts of the staff were friendly to me, housekeeping, room service, visiting residents, assisting staff, and visiting doctors. 5. Every single call light was answered in a timely manner with concern and professionalism. 6. Pain assessment was a top priority and each part of the team (delivery, epidural placement, and recovery) assessed me for pain to be sure I was comfortable. 7. Every test run on my child was explained and confirmed with me. 8. Every shift change I was aware of my nurse and asked permission for charting and information exchange in my presence. 9. Lactation consultants and Chaplain services were offered to me and presented with patience, kindness and concern for my time and my level of comfort. 10. Any time I left my room I was met with friendliness and helped immediately. I was never overlooked! 11. Every staff member knocked, and introduced themselves when they entered my room, they also asked if I was available to speak with them, which I felt was very courteous! 12. The staff member that helped me with discharge, also recovered my lost belongings when I misplaced them near the exit of the hospital. 13. My room had a spacious refrigerator, a microwave, a special couch bed, a rocking chair, a large bathroom and several chairs for visitors. I was also able to plug my PS4 into the TV and enjoy a movie and a game during my visit. Cons: 1. After the birth of my child, a visiting family doctor evaluated my baby and I did not witness him wash his hands before or after, which made me feel concern. 2. A nurse that was not assigned to me wore an overpowering scented oil that almost made me nauseated. 3. Cell phone reception is spotty and difficult for phone calls. 4. From time to time the staff were chatting or laughing loudly during quiet hours outside my door. 5. The food was ok, it was delivered in a timely manner, but it wasn't always very good, depends on what you ordered. I have delivered at three different hospitals, including Community North, and I felt that my experience at Community East was the best. Even though I had some negative things happen, I still felt the level of care from my doctors and nurses was exceptional! I would recommend this Maternity Ward to anyone seeking caring staff! I am glad I chose this hospital and if I choose to have another child, I will return.

Donnica Gray

The initial emergency visit was fine. However, I digest that some of the medical staff don't fully look into medications before prescribing them to their patients. It helped but created another medical issue of annoying proportions. We called the emergency unit to get advice since their doctors prescribed it. They were incredibly useless and scripted. If you plan on going to this hospital for any kind of medical care bring a device to look up the medication for yourself. The doctors may not have been well versed in their knowledge of various medications. I get that there are alot of patients who needs attention, but most visits to this er is rushed when it comes to medical care.

Randall Canter

Better off somewhere else rude rn's, dr's could care a less about patients, and hospital is not very clean,

Horrible hospital I’m sure there are good doctors here but you should have to play Russian roulette with your life to find them.

Community hospital east emergency room is terrible! Its very ghetto! Avoid going here!! The nurses are very rude and they highly lack customer service!! They're so unorganized. Expect a very long wait even if you're in dying pain, they don't care. I understand waiting is apart of the game but even After my long wait in the lobby, when I was finally brought back to a room, I waited back there over 3 hours in severe pain with out a nurse or Dr to come see me. I saw people walk past my room, I was in so much pain I finally got up to ask someone for help. Seeing my pain they continued to ignore me, and continued to inform me a Dr will be right in...After hours of waiting in pain for someone to help me, I finally left. I could've sat in my own bed at home in pain with out help, Would've been cheaper. after seeking better help with a different facility I was diagnosed with sever medical problems. No thanks to community east hospital to treat me, they just left me back in a room to rot. (Hypothetically speaking) they left me in a room, nobody came in to help me..probably made my sickness worse! they will have you leaving that hospital and not actually diagnosing the real issues of your pain! The nurses were very unprofessional, they have attitudes checking you in like they want to fight you! It's a mad house!!! Take my word and avoid this emergency room!!!!!

Mary Lounsbery

Waited At least 45 min or more for our car at the valet. The woman kept repeating herself. She told us somebody was going after it.45 min. later, she handed the keys to one of the men.

Brittany Cline

Took my 1 year old son to the emergency room. Didn't take long to get seen but when I did get seen they were quick and acted like I was a bother and was interrupting them. They miss diagnosed my son. What it was that my son was bleeding out of his ear and he has tubes the ent said his tube fell out and the bleeding was normal didn't prescribe anything just said to put a cotton ball in it and let it do it's thing. I went back to the medcheck a couple days later and told them that his ear is still bleeding and it hurts and said what the emergency ent said. The medcheck doc looked in his ear that was bleeding and his tube didn't fall out but it's infected and he needed to be seen by an ent. I took him to his appointment back at hospital on second floor and he was diagnosed with a polyp forming on his tube and that's what is causing the blood the ent prescribed him steroid ear drops to shrink the polyp but come to find out the doctor obviously didn't look at the insurance and prescribed him a high dollar med that my insurance doesn't cover and now my son is still without medicine and still bleeding from his ear after they said they would fix the medication problem it's been 2 days since I've gotten an update. This hospital is so uncaring and the doctors just rush through everything and don't show that they actually care about you all they see is another pay check.

Excellent care, excellent environment, excellent food!!!

A no non sense emergency room. If you're there just to seek pain medication, go somewhere else and stop complaining.

Jenny Willenberg

I went with a diverticulitis attack. They left me in the waiting room in extreme pain for hours. When they finally saw me, they attempted to put in an IV to give me pain meds. They stuck me unsuccessfully 12 times over the course of 4 hours! Then, they wanted to go into my neck and I refused. At that point, I still had no pain meds and I pointed out if they had given them orally or IM, I would have had relief already. They never gave me a diagnosis. I ended up leaving, still in pain, and calling a colo-rectal surgeon the next day to get treatment. To add insult to injury, they billed the wrong insurance and then tried to stick me with a $3600 bill. It took me months to get things sorted. I will never go there again. I drive the extra few miles to Community North now.

A relative was transferred here from New Castle after being diagnosed with pneumonia and the flu. Upon arriving, we talked to the woman at the front desk by his room. None of the nurses seemed to know exactly what they were doing. His IV ran out and no one seemed to be too worried about that either. Not sure if it was just the people at that part of the hospital or what, but I'm very sure we won't be coming back.

Asia Michelle

I went to the emerency room with my sister and my niece and my niece is a week old and they didn’t take her back right away instead we were around sickly people hacking and coughing badly around other ill people waiting without a mask on and it’s was very sick. The nurses or whatever they were at the desk were very rude and we were definitely unhappy with the service WONT BE COMING BACK AT ALL!

Madison Leamman

Emergency rooms are FILTHY expect blood stained floors with dust bunnies under beds. was there for 4 hours last night and the staff was taking their time. 4 hours with a severely vomitting 2 year old in an unsanitary room with NO NURSE CALL BUTTONS . Id rather be left for dead on the street than go to this filthy place ever again. Only giving one star because I cant give it negative 5!

Allison Scarpitti

Husband had surgery, doc suggested this hospital and they definitely took care of him. Care team checked in frequently, calls were taken care of in a reasonable time... Amazing Care Team!!! Room was clean and well maintained, room service was quick and delicious.

Katelyne Daudy

I like the hospital depending on the staff on duty. I did have a terrible experience but I wouldn't so much blame them too much I went into this ER about 5/6 times with a severe pain under my rib, I was vomiting everything even water, I eventually lost weight and come to find out I had a gull stone the size of my gull batter. If they would have found it the first time I would have been able to take medicine to pass it but after months they finally got an ultrasound and removed it. But that wasn't the end of it because they for some odd reason didn't charge my insurance I am responsible for paying it back which I don't like. Other than that as many times I have been in the ER you would think they would get tired of me but they are for the most part very nice.

Lorre

They're pretty nice there but need more parking

Brenda dotson

Never, never, never again! Been here 6 hours with my husband the doctor came in order an x-ray we sit another 2 hours waiting to gets x-rays while the staff was on the computer n on phones talking playing games! I'm pissed I'll never come back

Jami Ford

Waiting area dirty trash all over floor amd smelled like emesis. Take way to much time to triage patients. Staff spends more time socializing than working.

Very rude and in compassionate staff , some of the doctors there act like they don’t know what the hell they are doing. Brought my 1 week old baby in at the time for an emergency && they treated it like it was no big deal I had to wait in a room full of germy ppl && one lady had a cough like she was going to die they had no sense of urgency && I had just had my daughter there the week prior to coming && they did nothing but give me a vibrator thing like you get at a restaurant to wait until my number was called never again will I come to this place again !

Worst hospital I have ever been to. Was admitted for a week a few years back. i had a horrible nurse who insinuated I was a drug addict for asking her to hook my iv up after it had been unhooked for 3 hours so I could shower. She was not putting the meds through the iv correctly which made a grapefruit size lump on my arm. The head nurse came in and immediately took it out, and my vein was still attached to the needle. She said it was from putting the medicine in too fast. My mother came to visit and when it was time for more antibiotics, my mom told her to do it slowly so it would't happen again, and the nurse started mocking my mother and being really rude. Never got better, went to Methodist and had to have surgery. Went to the er today. Waited 4 hours, and was never even called to have my vitals taken, although no one was in front of me. However, every single person who came in after me, were taken to have theirs taken within minutes. I just left. I couldn't make it any where else today. Now I'm home bleeding, in more pain than I was earlier. This hospital is a joke. If you are having a medical emergency, your best bet is to go anywhere but this hospital.

The cafeteria in this hospital is pretty good. Minus one star for some of the staff needing empathy training, and minus one star for the time I was ignored for 3 hours after I had been admitted in the emergency room as I became more and more dehydrated.

Had a seizure wife brought me in. If anybody that has seizure disorder. Knows the headache part is the worst it's called a complex migraines. They neglected to address it. Now five days from now I will still have it. Done it before and it is the worst. Worst five days every sound every light . Makes it worse. Thanks community east er dr. Where was my treatment of pain and the ease for being content. Don't worry as soon as second opinion comes. We see what's wrong I have to file through courts. And go on from there. Thanks again for ruining my husband's work week

I will preface this with my care was great, but the billing system is absolutely ridiculous. First, I was called less than 24 hours before my surgery and asked to pay $4,000 or I couldn't have my surgery (it was an out patient surgery I wasn't even staying the night). So, after paying it, I then had to call to get the money that I paid that wasn't used for the surgery back (they just wanted to charge me as much as possible to cover what they might use). So I got a check for a few thousand back. Then a month later I get another bill saying my account is way past due for a few hundred dollars. I tried to call the number but waited for 15 minutes and gave up. I called the main number, and then was told by each person I called to call another number, 6 numbers in total. Finally I left a message for someone. Hopefully they call me back. Thank you Community for causing a ridiculous amount of stress and confusion and utterly wasting my time.

I rushed my husband to Community East hospital and we will NEVER be back. He was extremely short of breath, had severe abdominal pain, and couldn’t even walk. I rushed in while friends of ours helped him out of the car and I told the nurse at the Emergency desk that my husband is a post cancer patient and is in severe pain. She gave me a very dirty look and said “We don’t have a room for him.” I said “I will be bringing him regardless because he needs to be seen now.” She scoffed while I walked out to grab him. We got inside and they gave me a buzzer and we stood there and waited while my husband groaned severely in pain for 30 minutes. FINALLY a nurse wants to give him an EKG and check him in. I stood at the counter asking for a room for 20 minutes until they gave us one in emergency. While in emergency, we waited an hour & 45 minutes for a PILLOW! My husband finally got some pain medicine after 2 hours of sitting there doubling over and screaming in pain. It didn’t matter how many times I went to go get a staff member or how many times I hit the call button - no one ever came. Finally a doctor comes in to give results of his CT Scan & he has ACUTE PANCREATITIS! After checking in around 11pm and demanding for a room, we finally moved upstairs at 6am. After you get out of the emergency room, everything is clear sailing and runs smoothly. My husband has been here for almost three days now and I have wanted to take out his IV and take him anywhere else but here since I FIRST walked in. I will never bring my husband to such an awful hospital. Do not bring your spouse or anyone else to this hospital, especially if you are coming in for an emergency.

I have had a few bad experiences being hospitaled here with pnemonia....I was admitted for three days this past weekend. I went through the ER. I had a great Doctors, P.A.s, And D.Os...I was put in the Renal ward, I had the best nurses, Maria, Rebecca, Student nurse Karrie, THE BEST RESPITORY THERAPIST Brooke was upset a few times they were comforting and very reasurring. Some people use the emergency room as a Drs office. Why is this not treated like what it is supposed to be. You go in and you are in pain no one cares. When you finally do get in the nurses were great. My biggest problem it the waiting room and getting in to see the Dr. Saw no Dr. but I am pretty sure my bill will have a Dr. name on it. When I ask for the Dr. there was none.

Jean Eddy MAXIME

Nice and courteous staff

You should see what they did to my boy friend after a nurse said he would help him. I recorded it from behind the desk and found everyone's name including the lady with the back pack.

waited literally 3 hours and had to sit and watch as people who got there after me went first and they were sick in the same ways except I was coughing up blood. then when I got to the room I was in there for 2 mins and doctor came I thought at first omg that's fast but the doctor did NOTHING. looked down my throat and says you just have a viral infection. then left and returned SECONDS later with discharge papers like he had already typed them up. I hate community east. I only go because it's walking distance from my house.

Horrible they give u no information have u wait forever and then I had test results done and they came back inconclusive and never hear from them again I’m sticking with Eskenazi no more community east.

My grandmother received THE BEST care in the ICU and then cardio pulmonary unit. Every nurse was caring and took their time to explain things thoroughly. The cafeteria had great food, and the little coffee shop was good. Only complaint would be the emergency and waiting rooms. However, I know they are under construction so it’s likely to improve.

Antonio Porter

This hospital treated my wife like the queen she is and my son like the prince he is. :) I was met with doctors and nurses that did not have any problem answering any question we may have had

I had hoped I would love this hospital it is the closest one to where I live but my experiences here have all been bad. I do not expect that to change because they would not even admit that it was wrong not to feed a patient who suffers from hypoglycemia for 15 hours!

Valencia Love

Wait times are horrible they are always understaffed this hospital is horrible

Robert Roberson

Nastiest hospital I have ever been in. Girl puked all over the waiting room floor and 25 minutes later it was still there. The staff is very rude and treat you like you're a piece of garbage. Will never go back. If I have to choose between here and dying, I'm ready to meet my maker.

Destiny Miller

If I could give them no stars I would. Everytime I come I sit in the waiting room for 4 hours before just leaving. Never again will I come here . NEVERRRR

I just left this hospital with a blood pressure of 215/133 and was rushed to the back the doctor was amazing until I had a nurse Kerry come and walk in while my fiancé hands me a ice cube she instantly stated stop it or I will Take it from you to my fiancé ! So rude and vile . I instantly put my clothes back on and decided to leave . We get not having food but the previous nurse brought the cup of ice to us in the room. ! The ice machine was broken ! Horrible attitude and I would never go back again !!!! Horrible community east Er . And speaking with a staff up front they asked was there a IV in I stated No , so clearly what was the issue for a piece of ice for a woman who hasn't ate and on her period at the same time ???? They would rather me pass out and bill my insurance more !!!!

Just left this hospital and can say every single nurse and doctor I spoke with was very kind and caring, even the environmental cleaning person was very polite. Great place.

Hiwatha Walker

Clean hospital. Custodial staff work hard to keep it clean. Nursing staff are nice. Good bedside manner.

Michelle Upshaw

Its just trash. Staff doesn't care.

Amanda Lee

From the moment I walked in the ER the staff were responsive and caring. The RN Heather was very kind and knowledgeable - everything one would seek in receiving care during the moments you feel the worst.

James Eldridge

I sat with a dislocated shoulder for 3 hours while ignored by nurses and doctors very unprofessional

Coco Haemmerle

I took my husband to Community East ER and it was the worst experience ever. He had a highly contagious infection and we had to wait several hours just to see a doctor. No one there took the necessary precautions handling a highly contagious infection. Despite the doctor even acknowledged what it was, they took off the bandage he had on and threw it in a normal trash can (not biohazard), then he left without even bandaging the wound back up! They failed to even mention the infection on his paperwork despite the doc confirmed and that he had a history of it. We're never going to this hospital again!
