This place is awful a complete hell hole. The reason my grandmother is dead. Idk how many times id go visit her and her own bowel moments were hardened to her.

I am giving this facility one star because of the staff. They treated my husband wonderfully. Otherwise I wouldn't give them any stars. This facility is sorely lacking in properly certified staff and they are overworked. I dislike this place because of my husband ending up in their intensive care unit, twice in the almost 8 weeks he was there. The long term care facility is immaculate and well maintained. The staff that cared for my husband was wonderful. However, only 85% of their staff is certified. Meaning that 15% are not certified and underqualified. Also, they are overworked. One nurse to every 6 patients for a facility that must care for extremely ill people. My husband developed a nasty UTI because the catheter bag in which he arrived from another hospital with, had not been properly maintained or had the Foley changed after he arrived. He came with a catheter bag that was 6 weeks old. His urine in the tube leading to the bag had started to turn red. I asked about it and was told it was usual as it was probably some irritation from moving. Day 2, his urine output was almost nil and it was maple syrup colored. I and my daughter questioned staff about this and were dismissed again. Day three my husbands sister questioned the non-existent output of urine and they put her off. In the mean time my husband was writhing in pain. He couldn't communicate his distress due to the fact that he was on a ventilator and unable to speak because of it. He was also trying to push the Foley out with the mittens they had on him. These were to prevent him from pulling on his Iv's and such. They medicated him to calm him down. Therefore they didn't have to deal with him. By evening of the third day his Dr. finally decided to send him to the ER. He had a completely blocked Foley and had developed sepsis. I was beside myself with frustration and anger. His doctor seemed to not be worried about it and was rather dismissive about the situation. Her seemingly lack of compassion or caring was upsetting. After a week and a half in the ER and pumped full of antibiotics he recovered and was sent to a different floor. He was there for another 2 weeks and developed aspiration pneumonia. He was supposed to be elevated at all times but a nurses aid who came to change his bedding laid him flat and he aspirated. He was once again sent to the ER. Another week there and he was sent back to yet another room. He seemed to be doing well when the main hospital he was to originally go to, finally called and had a bed opening for him. When he arrived there he had already developed another UTI which had to be treated. At this point I was amazed that he survived his stay at Holy Family at all. The third hospital he ended up in was fantastic and he received excellent care. I am to the point where I have flashbacks of this horrid place. The suffering that my husband, myself and my family endured should never have happened. My husband is finally home after 5 long months of hospital stays. I am convinced that he would have recovered sooner had he not gone to Holy Family. If you are thinking of sending your loved one here, thing long and hard. Also, check on your loved one constantly and ask questions. I have no medical skills or knowledge and was naive when told things were just hunky dory. I am disgusted beyond belief and will never make this mistake again.

My review better stay up.or google is hiding a public danger. My daughter was at this place and she has a mood disorder nothing severe at all. This hospital was so mean to her that at one point we though she was going to commit suicide due to her abuse. They did not know what they are doing at all. She had an accident near here and ended up here and it was hell. They denied her water which was odd. Isn it free? They would not let her eat much at all just this screwball diet. The nurses were nasty to her and she never has any problems anywhere. They even sexually abused her I believe. They were mean to us when we came to visit. The place is dirty and very callous to children.I was going through my insurance and reported them to blue cross blue shield today. They had overcharged my insurance company to the point where I thought she had someone else's records,. It is a creepy system too for getting them certain parts were missing like her mental heath report. No one should even put a dog here much less a human being. .They even illegally tossed my review on Yelp which is a felony and I am reporting them if this gets tossed again. Why are they hiding my review? This is wrong. This a crime and it is a public and a public danger

They don't know how to treat a patient and they call themselves doctors. Absolutely disappointed.

I had a horrible experience here. They were nasty to me when I went to go visit my brother as I am his power of attorney. He was overcharged on the insurance company and dropped by the PT there. It was a dirty place that was very nasty to all of us. They should be shut down. I could not believe how unskilled they were. When I was sitting right there watching in horror.

My mom is there in the main building and she is absolutely comfortable. Everyone who has cared for her is excellent. No complaints here

Overall, really NOT impressed with this facility. A friend of mine is in the LTAC unit. So far, I've observed the follwing: 1. On weekends, the 3rd floor is significantly understaffed. 2. On multiple occasions, my friend was left in a soiled adult diaper for more than 4 hours, even after pressing the call button. 3. Lack of professionality of some nursing staff. A few complaints with this. 3.1: One of the nurses called me in order to force consent when the patient refused to allow a medical procedure. Instead of clearly identifying who she was, and that she was with Amita Holy Family... she started the call with "Who is this?". My phone's caller ID did not identify the source phone number as originating from the hospital. Now, my name and phone number are clearly listed as a contact, so there is NO excuse for proper professional phone etiquette. 3.2: Nurses listening into private conversations and threatening retaliation on patients if they wish to file a complaint. 3.3: Same nurse as mentioned above would also *loudly* discuss and comment upon (read: trash talk) patients in the hallway. HIPPA violation much? 4. Lack of clear staff to patient communication. To the Amita staff member who will inevitably read this and comment with an apology: Leave a name and number of someone I can discuss these matters. If the response is timely enough, I'll ask that person to stop my my friend and they can discuss this and hopefully resolve issues.

Weekend nurse is very slow. My dad paged the nurse and an hour later they showed up. The doctors changed and adds medicine without informing the patient or family. I have been paging the doctor for two days and he is refusing to call me back. The only good thing about this hospital is they they were able to ween my dad off the ventilator.

The nicest medical staff I have ever met. They are superior to every hospital or organization I have been to including; northwestern, alexian brothers, and many private practices. They greet you so kindly with a warm spirit and a smile on their faces. Holy Family Medical should be an example to other organizations as to how to treat customers. Registration is quick and very friendly. The information desk is always nice, willing to help, and welcoming. The laboratory dept. Is so gentle and kind. The best lab techs in skill and personality. Imaging is also very kind. I have no doubt this entire facility is a hidden jewel. Appreciate these people, I have worked in health care 13 years and have never seen such high level of service , it made being their patient a wonderful experience.

Holy Family is a wonderful hospital. The staff are highly qualified and truly care. Both my mother and son have had several admissions and great care each time. The presence of God and the opportunity to attend mass are very comforting as an additional benefit. Historically it has been the religious groups who opened and funded the originally not-for-profit hospitals. Their presence continues to honor their legacy.

Veronica Teves-Ignacio

They have the best staff/nurses in same day surgery!

Poor bed side manners @ ICU. Very frustrating to deal with nurses who don't empathize with patients and their family members.

Sometimes good sometimes not good. One example was that as an advocate I asked to be consulted first before any meds were given however we learned my husband was on 3 drugs we did not approve. We got him off those drugs in a hurry. One time my husband pushed the button for the nurse because he needed the urinal and a half hour later was found on his knees at the bedside because no one responded. He had put down his rails and climbed out. Nurse Stephen on the second floor is a great help. He knows his stuff. There are serious problems with the communication and the staff not advocating for the patient. Go to RML in Chicago instead.

This is criminal but more for the lawsuit my husband will file against you ! Stop illegally tossing me Holy Family the world knows what you are. My husband and I are laughing at you !I am a well established reviewer ! You will be arrested police are watching I have been here watching this whole thing go on in this hospital. I was here .I saw them make my sister almost die of thirst and committed insurance fraud on her records as I witnessed I was there watching the raid on Easter Sunday! We were harassed. They caused my sister to die of thirst and they tortured her almost causing her death . They bullied her elderly POA who is Portuguese and elderly . They dropped her . They fed her salty food while denying her water ! They were abusive and nasty . They even cyber harassed her on Yelp as I witnessed . They are hiding crimes on this feed of abuse as I have witnessed .If they continue to harass my sister I will call Springfield, the health department and media Who is my sisters review not up ? I am sending black lives matter there !The illegally tossed my sister and I am calling the police My husband will call the states attorney about those unnecessary tests and harassment on my sisters records !This place is disgusting . They mistreat people and they are very unskilled . They have fake Yelp reviews to cover . I would not send anyone to disgusting , dirty institution ! This is a real hellhole and no one should ever donate here..They are understaffed and they are very very cruel. I hope google stands by me as it is unethical to have a facility tos honest reviews. shows what they are .

Holy family took care of my dad with kindness, knowledge, and professionalism. Everyone is very friendly and respectful of the elderly. We were very please with the response on my dads changing medical condition. The nurses and the nurse's assistance are stupendous. The respiratory therapists are very gentle and considered. The most important part was that they actually listen to the family concerns and take them seriously. I would recommend this long care acute facility for the members of my family or friends when these difficult times come. Thank you to all the staff of Holy family from the bottom of our heart.

I had my aunt at this facility and was super pleased with the Care. Dr Awadallah was fantastic. Great Bedside manner and wonderful clinician. Also impressed with the GI doctor she saw. The doctors monitored her blood counts carefully. My aunt was on long term TPN and the nurses were so attentive to her TPN. They watched the IV pump constantly always brought the next bag in plenty of time. My aunt loved the staff! She wanted to take them all home with her. My aunt's friends from the city came out to Des Plaines to see her and to a person, they were all so impressed with how clean the place was and how nice the staff were. My aunt said Holy Family was even better than Northwestern where she received her surgery and post op care. The bill was completely covered by Medicare and her supplement so there were no billing snafu's. Overall, we were so glad that we were referred to Holy Family.

This should be patient’s last resort..incompetent doctors, specialists and worse nurse care ever, the worst one is a nurse named Sindhu..unbelievably rude!!! They don’t care about treating a patient..All they do is pain management by increasing pain meds without notifying family members and quick to recommend Pallative and Hospice care. Well sadly, the Hospice care team won ultimately..My mom passed away within a month from shifting here..this place is a hell hole and should be shut down permanently!!!!

I want to start this review with a huge THANK YOU to every staff member associated with presence health. I have received the most excellent service. Every single staff member is so genuinely helpful and kind. The second you walk through these doors there is somone to greet you and ready to help. Even nurses that are walking past on their lunch break have gone out of their way to say hello and to ask if I need any help. You just dont get this service anywhere. Even those working on the janitorial side of things. Absolutelyamazing. This place is spotless ALWAYS and they have made have it decorated so nicely. Everyone is just so joyful. These people make it their mission to help you with every step along the way. Registration staff are so caring and doctors are verycompassionate. I have been plagued with the possibility of having cancer and this hospital have given me the same support as if I was at home. I can't thank this facility enough. Even the call center for booking appointments are so kind and un-rushed. . Also a big thankyou to those that donate their hard earned money to here as well. I wish I could give something back to these people. Or even be a part of their team.

My mother was admitted to Presence 10 days after her cardiac arrest. Within a week, she was weaned off the ventilator, her bed sore was taken care of within 2 weeks. The place exceeded my expectations. Every patient has a private, clean room. I am very grateful for all kindness and support I received from the case manager Bindu and all the nurses, CNAs, and physicians. Everyone was always available to answer my questions and I visited my mother daily. When I asked for a neurologist and cardiologist to evaluate her, it was done promptly and they called me with the results. My mother was discharged to a nursing facility yesterday and I'd like to thank again for doing everything humanly possible for her. G-d bless you.

Had an appointment with Dr. Shervin Dorodi, MD for 9:30 in the morning. As a first time patient, I arrived 20 minutes early. Was not greeted, because the receptionist was arguing with a patient about pre-payment for services and the patient was trying to negotiate how much she would pay - which is offputting in and of itself. While I was waiting, there were three other couples in the waiting room BEFORE the other 9:30 appointment showed up. After 9:45, I asked how much longer it would be until I was seen and the receptionist replied that it would be another half hour. I left without getting care. It's clear that these folks don't respect their patients if they can't do something as simple as honor a simple appointment time. It seems like they were just trying to cram in as many appointments as possible which leaves me wondering too about the quality of care.

Holy Family LTACH (Long-Term Acute Care Hospital) provided excellent care for my wife during her stay. Our focus was on Wound-Care, albeit with other medical complexities, and relative to that experience they are excellent. The Wound-Care Team, Nurses & PCTs, PTs/OTs, Doctors, and all the wonderful supporting people at Holy Family provided great care for my wife. The staff has a passion for their work and a compassion towards their patient. The facility is clean and modern (In Room Patient Monitor Tracking The Ins/Outs Times of the Staff, and displaying what staff is currently in the room, Room entry monitors displaying the appropriate classification, and safety precautions). I visited, without notice, another LTACH facility, with good ratings, but was a bit depressed with what I observed. On my way to touring Holy Family I had prepared for the gut wrenching possibility of making a LTACH selection decision based on the lessor of evils. Fortunately nothing came close to matching Holy Family, and I felt a great deal of comfort and satisfaction in their ability to care of my wife. This is a full fledge Hospital with all the capabilities and experienced staff. Possibly the only place where the Nurses and PCTs worked together as a team.

I have used their services many times and I have never had anything to complain about.

This place has horrible service. They don't listen to the patients and their cell phone are more important. The supervisor Shiji has a ban attitude. I asked to speak with the nursing supervisor and that was not an option for them. The CNA Tonya and Sharon were sleeping on the job, The night nurses on the 3rd floor were so busy partying they could not attend to the patients. I would not recommend this place.

Ileana Pullos

Worse doctor care ever and no hospital should recommend an LCAT facility. Yes they do wean the patients into the grave with septic shock and they alter the death certificates. Had a nurse read data from another patient for my mom. Worse care ever just routine they milk the system, the doctors do notcare they just walk in for one min and state critical. JUST horrible horrible care!

This place is a hell hole. I thought this was a hospital but it's basically a low quality place where they put people who they've given up on after a regular hospital kicks you out but you're not quite ready for hospice .They don't have full staff , they don't even have specialists who visit regularly . We had to wait a week for a kidney doctor to order an important test and then several more days to get results .Nurses are rare and mostly foreigners who don't understand English or rejects from other hospitals .

I was impressed with the level of care I received during my visit for a breast bioptsy. Everone was very attentive and made me feel relaxed before, during, and after the procedure. Maureen was incredible. She made several calls to me before and after the appointment to make sure I was well informed. She even helped me with some billing issues later on.
