Always outstanding. Births, cancer treatment, ER, Sleep Study Facility, etc.

I was in a bad car accident last Saturday and I was taken by ambulance to Hinsdale Hospital ER and I was looked after very quickly. After X-rays and other tests were completed I was told I could go home (2:40am with no car) or stay the night for pain relief because I was really hurt. I opted to stay the night because I didn’t have a way of getting home and desperately needed sleep after the horrible accident. I was brought to a room at nearly 3am and fell asleep for a couple of hours.. I said I found a ride so I’m leaving but the nurse told me I would be leaving against medical advice?? A doctor said to me 4 hours previous I could go home now they said I would have to wait several hours for a different doctor? They forced me to sign paperwork wich states I’m leaving without permission and that I’d pay out of pocket?!? I wasn’t offered any food of any kind in the 11 hours I was there? The nurse had a hard time even finding a pillow for me. It was awful. If I’m not receiving medical treatment how am I leaving against medical advice? I was starving and in a lot of pain and limped out of the hospital.

Do NOT have a child and Hinsdale. They will disrespect you every step of the way and force what's convenient for them on you.

Chris Juarez

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CHILD TO THE PSYCH WARD THERE UNLESS YOU WANT TO SCREW THEM UP WORSE!! It wouldnt let me rate them no stars or I would have. They were horrible to my child. They lied to me about how they were treating him. They took all of his stuff away and I had to go get it back. They didnt give him some of his meds while he was there. They changed his meds while he was there without my consent which is illegal. They lied on everything they wrote on his records. They released him while he was still suicidal and needless to say, he is in another hospital now. Trust me this hospital is among the worst.

Jim Nordentoft

My wife recently visited radiology for annual exam. $725 later and no room for negotiation, I'm stuck paying post-insurance balance. You'd be better off going some place like DuPage Medical Group and pay half the cost for the same services. Glad I can pay for a portion of the addition and parking garage. Definitely telling associated doctors about our displeasure and will not be back to an Amita facility.

I visited the er at night, my nurse Carly was so nice and helpful.

Hospital stay was great, it was the billing nightmare afterwards that was not. The bill was set up on a payment plan and it was just randomly get canceled and the collection calls would start, it would take a month each time to get it straightened out. Every time I would call I would get a different story. We will never go to this hospital again, which is unfortunate because patient care was great.

Kimmy G Anglin

The inpatient nurses & doctors were outstanding. The ER staff & care, not so much.

Jamal Khader

This hospital seems to be more about money than caring for patients. My son was diagnosed w/lazy eye by one of their doctors when he was bor . Later (5 month later) we discoverer he had a cataract that was very easy to diagnose (per other doctors). Unfortunately, we used the same doctor in this hospital to care for our child. He used to charge us $3 extra (on top of co-pay), if we do not pay cash!!! All about money.

It is 3:10am 5-16-2018 I'm in a room that must be from the 70's I was not supposed to be here I had same day surgery yesterday at 3pm but some issues came up and had to stay. I've been coming here for years had other surgeries here never had a problem. I have pictures when I said something I was told you're only staying overnight what's the big deal. Really I don't care if your staying overnight or a month no one should ever stay in a room like this. I take medicine on a daily bases for my nerves and muscles and other things but needed that medicine because by midnight I had gone over 24hr . This doctor assistant or what ever she was the worst after she left over me HR no medicine no pain medicine I was in tears and screaming. They sent in some gray coat Dr who looked like they just woke up and was like what's the problem. Funny within oh 5-10 min meds show up he tried to cover her ass by saying they were on their way I told him that she could of taken two seconds to tell me. Then I asked him so what your telling me is that it takes over me HR to get your medicine by then some people would be dead.

Arrived at 6:00 pm.We were there the evening before and had superior service. We were told by the doc that if there were changes to get back to the ED immediately. My son is diabetic and had a severe foot infection. The infection started moving up his leg and we went back. We informed them of the doctors advice....and the triage woman stated that of course there would be a little pain and swelling....and we informed her that my son was diabetic....and she just brushed it off.I am convinced her lack of concern is what caused this whole experience. We sat in the er and watched people who came in after us get called back...the man at the desk told every person who asked..that there were two people ahead of them. When a boy, who came in after us was called back..he needed a split lip stitched up...we again asked the man at the desk what was happening...he stated that we were next...but it would be awhile...we got up and left....3 other patients had also left while we waited. We had been there just over 4 hours. We went to Good Sam Er..and within 10 minutes , were seen by the doctor and my son was admitted to the hospital on the spot due to the severe infection that had spread up his leg. They even apologized for our experience at Hinsdale. We informed his doctor immediately about our experience there.. Just to be clear...Good Sam was diverting ambulances to other hospitals last night because they were so busy..but they had the intelligence to look at my son and get him the help he needed. I will never bring anyone I care about to Hinsdale Er...ever.I would suggest they at least look at the patients they have waiting before just sending them off to wait endless hours with absolutely no communication. If I could give negative stars,I would. So sad because the help we received the night before, especially from nurse Roman was great.

My daughter was in ob/gyn as her baby died and she had to deliver him. That was bad enough, but her nurse made disparaging remarks about Obamacare - proceeded to state that she was a "Trump Girl" and had her conceal carry permit. Let me make this clear, I am walking because of Obamacare. Due to recent, controversial statements made days ago and because you are working in a very sensitive job, keep your damn political affiliations to yourself. Very unprofessional!

Excellent hospital, the staff was amazing! Doctors, Nurses, Midwives, Lab techs, maintenance and services crew. Food was tasty and reasonably healthy portions. Everyone was kind, patience, professional and knowledgeable. If you gotta go to the Hospital it’s where you want to go. Thanks to everyone God Bless you for what you ALL do so excellently.

As an injury lawyer, I hear about many of my client's experiences with hospitals and health care. Clients report of many wonderful dealings with Hinsdale hospital. Moreover, my family and I have been pleased with treatment received at the hospital. The nurses and staff are friendly, responsive and caring.

Poor service and punitive billing. Very disappointed with this Hospital which I used to hold in high regard.

Waited for 4 hours to find out my son had a cold. I understand that the ER is busy but it shouldn't take 4 hour to get released for a cold.

I am not sure if this is anything the hospital can do or if there is such a shortage of nurses and help. My sister was in surgery and we were told we would get updates throughout. We were first told that we would know something 30-60 minutes in, it was closer to 3 hours and even than were only told "she is ok, and that's all I can say." 2 hours in, I asked an employee in the unit about information, was informed she would check with the nurse and she never got back to us. I know my sister signed a waiver that I could be informed of her health care, and perhaps it was not in whatever file needed. It was about 6 hours from when she went in until we finally got to see her, and even then it was because we had to look for anyone who knew anything. I know the patient is primary responsibility, but not updating the family at all made an already tense day extremely difficult to manage.

Just had our first child at Hinsdale Hospital. Everyone we came in contact with was supportive, helpful, and understanding. A great experience! I would recommend this hospital to anyone! Doctors, nurses, care tech's, and lactation consultants were amazing!

STAY AWAY!!!! Oh boy, where do I begin. Well, I'll have to start a GoFund me to pay for the fraud bill they sent me for my little boy. He had a bunch of cavities & the dentist would only do them while he was under anesthesia. We got numerous opinions & they all said the same. So the hospital should've sent a bill for: a room for a few hours, OR, & miscel. Dentist & Anesthesiologist billed separately. We got a bill from the dentist as expected (even though it doubled from the estimate), then a bill from the Anesthesiologist $3000, and the hospital wanted about $16,000! We are responsible for about $7500 of this!!! The hospital charged about $9000 for dental work, which had nothing to do with the dentist! (They are pocketing that!!). Hospital charged about $5000 for anethesia, again, which does NOT go to the Anesthesiologist! Sadly my insurance company blindly paid their portion letting these crooks get away with double charging leaving 2 issues: me being stuck for the remainder & obvious fraud. BTW my wife just had a C-section at another hospital and it was FAR less expensive that this!

My daughter was admitted around Easter. We were there a couple of days. Everyone was caring and attentive. They made sure i was taken care of also. Very pleased with this hospital.

Arrived with baby (ear infection) at 9:50am. Was registered, and seen by a doctor by 10:05am and discharged by 10:45am. Best ER service I've ever witnessed! The doctor was great as well as all the staff we encountered.

I strongly recommend this hospital to everyone. I was treated with such respect. I had recently been to st. Joseph’s on Monday and twice on Tuesday because my gallstones (diagnosed about a month ago) were giving me an extreme amount of pain. They refused to help me and accused me of pill seeking. I had been in pain 3 days at this point. Wednesday afternoon I decided they I couldn’t handle the pain and I asked my aunt if she knew where to go. She recommended I go to hinsdale. I came and was checked in right away. Was in the ER within 5 minutes barely any waiting. Was in the ER for about 2 hours and the majority of my tests and meeting with my doctors was done pretty much within the first hour. I was incredibly impressed with everyone. I finally got a room and going down the hallways it felt clean but not typical overwhelming hospital clean smell. It smelled kinda like sweet. My room was a private room. Staff was super kinda all nightlong. Surgery was scheduled for 2:30 Thursday September 27, ended up going early at around 12ish. Staff explained everything to me in a way I could understand. I was kinda difficult since I’m used to being independent. I completed all my goals and now Friday the 28, day after surgery, I am now going to be discharged. Thank you to the staff! All the student nurses who helped. And especially to to Chaplin who came and seen me during the morning the day of surgery, said he would definitely try to come before surgery at two, he came but I was already in surgery so he left me a kind note and said he would definitely be back to see me the next day. I’m switching my primary doctor here, my sons pediatrician to here and Ive convinced my boyfriend to get a second opinion here for his tummy problems. Again!! Thank you so much to all the staff! If I could rate 100/100 stars I definitely would! EDIT: Chaplin just came back in my room to meet my 11 month old son. He was super kind and for him to think about checking on me before I got discharged was an incredibly kind thing to do.

Their detox procedure left all my joints frozen. The hospital detoxed me for too long with sedation that was too strong. They never consulted a neurologist. Because of their treatment I spent 2 months inpatient at RIC Hospital and will be outpatient for at least another 6 months. I still cannot walk after 3 months of therapy. DO NOT GO NEAR THIS PLACE!

The care is ok. Aunts fall risk alarm was going off for four minutes before anyone came to check on her. When they did check on her they saw I had helped her to the bathroom and left us.The floor is filthy and has been for two days. They haven’t changed the bed sheets and the stuff on the floor is in her bed because it sticks to her socks.* I have to retract the statement about not cleaning the rooms. The grass on the floor is pieces of an ottoman that is disintegrating. They have been sweeping but it keeps coming back.

There was nothing to like about this place! The ER nurses were non caring and rude. Then the nurses on the floor were invisible. The first nurse I saw was 40 minutes after I was brought to my room. She said she was leaving at 7 but would be back before that.. Never saw her again. Saw the new shift 35 minutes later and didn't see them for another 3 hours and that was after I told the tech and waited over an hour! I was supposed to have a sedated MRI but after I told my daughter the treatment I was receiving she refused to let me be put to sleep at this awful place!! I ended up leaving that same night.

Switched from Northwestern to Amita. Regretting every single appointment. Staff is very rude, takes almost two months to schedule URGENT procedures, definitely switching back to Central Dupage, been with them for 15 years. Amita took me two appointments to say they need to improve in order to maintain satisfactory quality and customer service. I definitely would never go back with them unless they had a faster system and retrained staff.

My son was there. Everything seemed ok (since I haven't been in a hospital much and am not a doctor or familiar with some procedures) they POKED my son for HOURS for a few days because his veins kept collapsing (a poking session would last more then an hour) then they would take a break and start over. So they would rather give him PTSD then insert a picc line, which they finally did, after they had no choice, after poking his legs also and he was done he could take no more. He was surely traumatized but they smile and say it's ok I didn't know about picc lines but what are those doctors/nurses thinking ? Unlike me, they knew The moment I asked "hey, is this ok for him, is he gonna get ptsd ?" They stopped So... I did "the math" We went to Loyola for the ladder part of his treatment and only now i can compare and say I wish I'd gone there to begin with

Had to go into the E.R last night around 12AM due to a wound. The nurse "Urszula" was completely rude and 100% out of line. Spoke to me so downgrading. Plus we caught her gossiping about us to the other nurses. Beyond unprofessional for her and beyond uncomfortable for us. The doctor and x-ray gentlemen were awesome! Rest of the staff was good too. But that nurse totally ruined my experience here forever. I will drive the extra 15 minutes to Good Samaritan and I will differently let everyone I know, know about this horrible woman that's working for this hospital. It's a hospital for gods sake. They should be making sure everyone employeed there is generally kind, patient and has a good caring heart. DR. Hohlastos (I think that was her name) was awesome though truly appreciated her.

Worst hospital in a wealthy area. Mother was in a car accident and have been waiting for them to do x-rays/CT scan for over 2hrs now. She's in pain and they keep telling her few more minutes. Just ridiculous!!!!! Will never bring my mother here again or any one else I know.

I went to the Hinsdale Hospital lab for a blood draw. As an ASCP Certified Phlebotomist for 17.5 + years. I was disappointed in my experience there. She was unable to find a vein in my R ac area, she decided to use my R hand. Not only did she puncture the same tiny vein twice to fill the tube, she hit the bone in my hand, causing me to literally yell out because it hurt. She tells me it's coming out slow (my blood). An ASCP Certified Phlebotomist knows too check both arms before going to the hand. That just gave me more of a reason NOT to go there, nor to recommend Hinsdale to anybody.

The worst emergency room I have ever visited. Waited 4 hours to have 16 stitches. Took three hours to receive pain medication for the open wound. Staff was clueless and so disorganized! Never go here!

This review is in regards to the volunteer department, I volunteered at this hospital for around 7 years, when the department was run by Christine it was actually very good. However, when Sandra Mueller took over I needed to reschedule my hours, my emails took a very long time to be answered, if at all. After a few weeks, I finally got an appointment with her, I waited over 2 and 1/2 hours and she never showed up and never sent me a follow up email, so I gave up and pursued other volunteer opportunities.

I am unbelievably happy with Hinsdale Hospital birthing center! Just had my baby sunday.. came in just about ready to deliver, the nurses and hospital doctor were absolutely fantastic. They knew exactly how to handle the situation, as well as keep me informed and safely deliver my baby! The whole staff was so thoughtful and considerate. Everything about the labor and delivery department I give 100%. Thank you for helping me to have such a wonderful experience. We will remember it forever!

Words cannot describe the pit this place really truly is, gives the word Adventist an evil name. Would love to give two stars for the small handful of superstars that did actually care for me when I was near death, but just can't bring myself to do so after the various horrendous experiences with this so-called medical facility. If you like MD turf wars, nurses that play F'around while patients, quite literally are ignored more frequently than treated, well, this is your place. So bad that this is the first time I have ever left a negative review on Google. Better off getting medical care at a local Taco Bell. You'd expect more from a facility in affluent Hinsdale, but you'd be wrong.

K P.Martinez

I would have stayed at this hospital but they continued to make errors in their medial coding, my daughters birth certificate, and their billing is a mess!! All this has caused me to either pay more for a birth certificate and also had to waste time to fix errors they should have done right the 1st time around!! I have never had this many problem's at other hospitals. I was told this was a great place for health care but I can't recommend this place to anyone with all the issues they have caused me and my family. I was going to deliver my 2nd baby here but am now going elsewhere.

Horrible Horrible Horrible ER experience. I won't even complain about the 5 hour wait..... Long story short, they tried to tell us the Physician's Assistant that saw my 13 month old daughter was a doctor. Flat out lie. Then he diagnoses her as having a strep rash (which children under 2 do not usually get strep) plus he never even swabbed her and tested for strep. Then he looks in her ear and says she has a horrible ear infection. He tells me to give her antibiotics and follow up with my doctor in about 3 or 4 days. I am not quick to give my daughter drugs, better yet antibiotics and the whole situation just did not seem right to me. So instead I went to her pediatrician the next day without giving her any drugs. Good thing! Her pediatrician said she didn't have an ear infection and it was just a virus, Roseola. Same thing 4 other parents told me by just looking at her and hearing what I had to say. Yet the P.A./"doctor" didn't come to that conclusion even when I suggested it to him. Will never be back there again!!!

I broke two ribs and had to go to this awful place. Treatment was fine (though they had to do several of the tests over again.. .I had GREAT insurance and was ONLY supposed to have to pay a 50 dollar co payment. Then I get these letters from Hinsdale Hospital saying there was a balance still owed and they were putting a LIEN on my home. Totally out of line and threatening. Turns out my wonderful health insurance paid what was the normal and standard amount for the bill. These evil hawks at the hospital wanted more. Now instead of calling the insurance and explaining this some woman named Dixie (her name fit her as she sounded like she crawled out of some cave in Alabama) kept calling the wrong number and didn't contact the right people to collect the rest of the fee (which really shouldn't have been paid) properly. I called to complain and talked to a supervisor who sounded just as stupid as she did and said well, she called - I said right but the wrong number and didn't even TRY to reach the correct DEPT! they did nothing. The fee was finally paid by the insurance and the woman told me that this hospital was the worst she dealt with in her 37 year career. I'd rather lie bleeding to death than enter this cesspool (not to mention my father had a heart attack there in a whole separate matter but I'll let him post on his story with this HELL HOUSE)

My husband went to this hospital after it was discovered he had a spinal tumor. The surgeon and care he received was superb, the nurses were wonderful. Because they also did a full body scan which showed a brain tumor, he had no symptoms and people were surprised the hospital was so thorough. Thanks to their excellent care he had another successful surgery and is doing very well. We will always be indebted to this hospital for their lifesaving care.

Came to the ER with a burn wound on my leg in serious pain. After 7 hours not a nurse, tech or doctor had touched my injury!! There's more to tell, but my experience alone should make you think about where you go. After all, health care is a business.

Vince Salaka

All the ER staff was very friendly and very attentive to my problems. The ER doctor ordered a bunch of tests to be done and they all showed up super fast (some even needed to wait for the last one to get done). The facilities were clean.

I was in the ER on the early hours of February 21st and honestly I was not looking forward to sitting in a hospital ER for hours not feeling well getting the run-around and having unnecessary tests done. But to my surprise I was taken in within minutes and then staff there was unbelievable! They actually treated me with compassion and care. Dr .Matthew actually took the time to answer my question and treat me like a human being . My nurse I believe his name is Tom took the time to sit and explain anything my husband and I asked. I hope this hospital realizes how blessed they are to have employees like them working for them. Keep up the great work!

Yesterday evening, I was called by my parents to hear the most saddening news that my grandfather had passed away at Hinsdale Hospital. The last time I saw him was two weeks ago and we went out to eat and he was healthy. I am away at college but hearing everything that had happened to my otherwise healthy grandpa in this hospital infuriated me beyond belief. Two days ago, my parents brought my grandfather to this hospital because he had a consistent cough. It turned out that he had pneumonia. Pneumonia in the elderly is very common and should be CLOSELY monitored because of the risk of anything happening. However, I was told by my mom that the doctors and nurses said there was nothing to worry about, but he should stay the night so they can keep a close eye on his condition. They hesitated with this because my grandma had passed away after spending a night in the hospital, but they agreed to letting my grandfather stay because professionals know best, right? Wrong. Fast forward to yesterday, my mom went to get my grandfather discharged when suddenly he could not breathe. This, of course, made my mother frantic and she called for any nurses out in the hallway of his room to say her father is choking. When I heard this from my mom, this immediately made me think it must have been Aspiration Pneumonia. But, to my absolute disbelief and heartache, one nurse told my mom "There is nothing that I can do" and that she needed to call a doctor. She was on the phone for FIVE minutes and care for my grandfather did not arrive for another 15 to 20 minutes but by that time my grandfather had already flatlined. He suffocated to death due to a nurse not noticing when a patient is in severe respiratory distress. This is complete medical negligence and the nurse should have took protocols to call CODE or Fast Bleep when she did not know what to do. She should have put high flow oxygen on, repositioned him, or grabbed a crash trolley and put an airway in. My grandfather died in severe distress and this is causing severe distress for my family. My mother called me this morning at 6AM sobbing with hoarseness in her voice because of how unfair the staff was with her and that this could have been prevented if someone had just listened to her. She begged nurses in the hallway to help her and no one immediately assisted her or my grandfather. I spent two hours consoling my mother over the traumatic experience of watching her own father choke to death and skipped classes today because of grieving over this unfortunate mishap and the loss of my grandfather. My mother also has to take 3-4 days off from work and I have to travel back home so we can make proper funeral arrangements with family and friends. We are definitely going to seek legal advice for wrongful death because clearly NOTHING was done in the 25 minutes that could have been used to save my grandpa's life.

Sleep Center at Hinsdale Amita Hospital. I walked out. The bed appears to have come from an old hotel and was not conducive to a decent night's sleep. The pillows had no support. The furniture appears to have come from an real old hotel furnishings auction...I know...I have attended those auctions. The room was warm...I asked to cool it down...the nurse turned on a fan in the room. That's the ticket, turn on noise for a restful night's sleep. I could have found a better room, bed, pillow at a nearby hotel. The woman running the show was very, very nice. I cannot wait to tell my physician about this place. I think the space is leased out to an outside firm. I would like their physician to sleep in that bed/room...would not happen. If you require a sleep study...go somewhere else and check out the room before you agree to sleep there!! It is your health..take control!

This was almost a year ago, but Danielle was the most phenomenal L&D nurse at Hinsdale Hospital I could've asked for. She made me feel so comfortable and I instantly trusted her. She was so attentive to my boyfriend and I. I love my OBGYN, but it’s amazing the impact the nurses have on a mother during delivery. If I ever have anymore kids I so hope Danielle is my nurse again!! Thank you!

I wish I would of had my first son here and not MacNeal hospital in Berwyn. I love this hospital my second and third son were born here and I wouldn't change it for the world. The staff is awesome as well as the Doctors. They answered all my questions and made me feel safe. When my second son was born at 36weeks he had to stay for about a week there - they help me and my husband with a extra bed so be able to stay with him until my son was released. Food is great (my husband says he wants to have another baby just so we can get the hospital food) lol. I want to thank everyone here who has helped me and the clinic that in front of the hospital too - You guys are SO AWESOME!!!

Greg Roszkowski

I wish I could give this hospital less. Give me a witch doctor. The staff is rude, the doctors incompetent. The only thing exceptional are the charges. I have Blue Cross and I went there to have a check for a blood clot in the leg. There was NOBODY in the waiting room when I arrived. Nevertheless. I by the time it was all said and done I WAITED for a total of 4 hours. The ultrasound technician was the rudest individual I ever met. When she told me to change, she did not lower the stretcher so I had to jump down and hoist myself up. She acted like she was doing me a favor to do her job. When the transport guy came back he was surprised the stretcher had not been lowered. I rarely go to the doctor or a hospital. Given the choice between certain death and gong back to Hinsdale, I think I would take certain death. Since with the level of incompetence they display, you will get certain death and be frustrated at the same time.

This is the worst medical billing department in the world..they purposely dont want to answer your call. I called 10 times to pay bill. When you live call back doesnt let you do it to the last step. Always 10 minutes extra wait..

I just had my first baby here. A great experience!!! In labor and delivery everyone were more than great, very helpful, supportive, friendly and professional. Especially nurse Jenifer Hoffman ! She is the best nurse ever ! She answered all my questions and make me feel save. Her answers were quite and her face was always with wide smile all the time. she was so patient teaching me and my baby girl how to brest feed. So simply thanks a lot ! I recommend to all Hinsdale Hospital

Worst hospital Ever

If you are reading this and plan on having your child here, please take this as your sign to find a new hospital immediately. Our experience here for our first child was a nightmare and was the most upsetting 4 days of our life. I have never seen a hospital until Hinsdale that was so unorganized, unprofessional, and downright disgusting. As first time parents we had looked forward to this time all our life and Hinsdale Hospital ruined so many moments. To start, my wife was scheduled to be induced and the hospital contiously delayed her admission. It wouldn’t be a problem as we understood rooms were full but not once did the hospital follow up with my wife to provide a plan or an update. They literally told her to call back and check on availability. For two days you have a woman past her due date and in significant pain not given any info due to the hospitals awful communication. Onto our stay- Our first night at 2AM the nurse woke my wife up and asked “If she had ever had any contagious viruses or diseases” and went on to explain that post delivery her and the baby would need to be put into isolation. None of this made any sense to us, so the nurse said she would follow up. We asked about it the next morning and before I could finish she walked out of the room with no answer. Also if you are lucky your nurses will complain when you are not around. When walking by the nurses station, our nurse clear as day was complaining to the others about how she was just in our room so “why the hell didn’t she ask for the ice packs then?”. How professional. There are other things that I want to write about but there is a word limit (it should be extended for reviews of Hinsdale) and the others I could brush off. What I cannot and what makes me sick is what happened at post-partum. We had noticed on our child’s arms and legs a purpleish hue and had brought it up to the pediatrician at the hospital. We were told it was normal on newborns and not to be concerned. Later that day to make a long story short the hospital had basically confronted my wife while loosely implying she knew something happened. They stated that this was the first time they noticed it. Their staff has absolutely no idea how to talk to patients. And again does not have a clue as to what they are doing as we were the ones to bring this up earlier that day, along with our family. I have a brother who is a doctor so I understand there are protocols but the way the doctors approached this was completely wreckless. My wifes’s OB/GYN ended up apologizing to us stating it was not handled properly and what was being questioned was marks from when the baby was born. But there was no response from the hospital. In fact they had social workers speak with us before being discharged. FOR SOMETHING WE HAD NOTHING TO WITH. Of course the social workers said there was nothing that concerned them at all, at least they were honest and upfront. Due to my wife’s experience, The OB/GYN was wanting to watch for any signs of post-partum depression. She said it was far too early to tell but she wanted us to be aware, and my wife appreciated that. But when getting discharged the nurse SPECIFICALLY advised my wife to make sure to go to her appointment for treating her “post partum depression”. After we left I spoke with their patient relations regarding our experience and we have not heard anything from them as of today. I will clarify they say it can take “up to 60 days”. But please be assured that there was no delay in billing us and we received the statements in record timing! And if you call their billing department be prepared to wait 20+ mins no matter what day or time you call. The hospital itself won’t help you only their central billing. They try so hard to act like a high class hospital with their lobby and grand piano in the middle of a wealthy area. But just remember once you get past that lobby all you have is a pathetic excuse for a hospital. We love our child more than anything and never again will I allow this place to put my family through what they did.

Worst hospital stay ever!! Deserves 0 stars. Please don't copy and paste your usual response that you wish for my contact info for someone to reach out. If you were about change and improvement, there wouldn't be countless reviews like I'm about to give. Nursing staff is about their comforts not yours. Hinsdale hospital isn't a place of healing and setting goals, but rather treating you poorly until you've had enough and realize you can get healthier at home. Nurses don't go the extra mile for ANYTHING. My pain meds were not managed correctly and staff didn't think to communicate to the doctor until he walked in my room with me screaming in pain. Then in the end, I asked for a mere Tylenol in place of narcotics and was refused. They didn't bother to ask the doctor, so I went 12 hrs wo pain meds. The secret to my type of recovery was movement and the source of my pain was poor med management and lack of movement . I was refused the bathroom many times and they tried to force me to use a bedpan when a bedside commode was right there. They were constantly too busy in their personal conversations to be bothered, but are the first to yell at you. They then do not empty the commode so I started using the toilet with no safety arms. By day 3, I was done and on my feet with constant arguments from staff that don't seem to know how to daily assess their patients and are completely untrained to implement a progressive fall prevention program where people are getting better, not worse. I was on my feet because I very much wanted to brush my teeth. I was denied a shower even though my doctor said it was OK. My room had trash on my tray from the previous 3 days. Never again. They lie to you say if you leave you will be charged for the hospital bills and the insurance won't cover it. We called our Insurance Company and they said it was a lie. Sounds like a scam since I've read other reviews here that have said the same. My doctor was wondering why I was still there which means that the staff didn't listen to him properly with discharge instructions. I honestly got tired of waiting on them after a 6 hour long discharge process and walked out and decided to communicate with my doctor through his office. Stay away from Hinsdale hospital, or bring your own Tylenol and recovery plan. They will do very little for you but cause you unnecessary pain and frustration.

I had a nurse named Kerra take care of me and she was so nice and helpful. I couldn't have asked for a better nurse. She deserves a raise!

I recently went to Hinsdale Hospital for a knee replacement and was overwhelmed with the incredible treatment I received for the three days I was there. They understand what customer service is and demonstrate it at all times from the minute you arrive. I had to arrive very early but from the 5 am time I arrived the flow went perfectly. What really set the stage was when the pastoral minister enthusiatically shared his confidence for a positive outcome. He emphasized that this was all about me, that I was in charge and how important it was for me to always feel free to share what I needed or if any changes needed to be made. He was so kind and sincere it touched me - I thought "these people really care about me". It set the stage for a very successful experience that has left a deep impression. What surprised me even more was after that everyone I came in contact with (and there were many) projected that same patience-centered value. People seemed to like working there and it showed. It really was like being at a nice hotel - the all private room approach was relaxing and truly was focused on giving you what you wanted when you wanted it. For example you could order from the extensive menu at any time - you were never confined by "meal hours". When you did need something it was taken care of quickly and not forgotten like so often happens . I could go on and on because I am still touched by the strong values they believe in but most important demonstrate daily. They totally spoiled me as I am now in rehab where thing seem very chaotic. If I ever need surgery again you can believe it'll be at Hinsdale Hospital.

This dates back to 1966 on July 14th when my middle daughter, Laughter was born, it was a complicated case the Doctor sign me out the hospital and left another doctor who was brought to help with the case notice I was left in the hallway and did I sign myself out which I didn't know anything about it. He wanted to know since he was familiar with the case if he could preform the surgery and it was successful. I give that hospital a 5 stars+, they didn't charge and I had a 2 week stay.

Great experience. I was in the Chicago area on business, and was referred to Hinsdale by Urgent Care because I had abdominal pain...after several test, determined that I needed an appendectomy. Quickly admitted and pain meds administered. Surgery performed next day and released one day later. Doctors amd nurses were great.

We have now had both of our children at this amazing hospital and couldn't ask more from the doctors and nursing staff!

I been to there emergency room over 14times in the past 3 years, I always wait 1-2 hours in the waiting room(3 hours on Sunday). It’s rare to find friendly staff. I lives in Hinsdale and it’s the closest hospital to me that’s y I go there, will never go there if there was any other hospital that’s close.

The E.R. doctor was very rude! He used a very mean and aggressive voice. Won't be back at this hospital!

The care of medical staff was appropriate. Many issues with Security, parking, and valet. Upon addressing the issues for answer, and assurance of safer, less stressed experience-Steven J. Brubaker, Director of Security opted to investigate w/o speaking to us, then sent a letter explains how we didn't do enough to get helped more, and others have " commented" same staff. Director of Security opted to Hangup one phone call, I phoned w/a message, to recieve a call from Hinsadale Police-saying Steven J. Brubaker feels my family asking for answers and him receiving FULL detail of events for his clearly incomplete investigation is harassment. Elderly and Neurodiverse are in Danger at this hospital, you misplaced my key, my car, and poorly marked drop off area created a dangerous and stressful drop off. My contact with security results in Police contacting me for asking Security to actually do the job they have. This hospital may have good medical standing, the Security are those in place to keep public safe. Wouldn't send an enemy here. Security is extremely poor at best--

Thanks to you and my sister I have had a moment of clarity. Please familiarize yourself with the me too movement. I have composed my story regarding the HIPPA Violation committed by you ,your brother Dr.Ted Patras ,and Dr.Brian Kern. As you know my previous patient’s daughter has been a longstanding member on the Hinsdale Hospital Board if Directors along with her husband. I am spending Christmas Eve with them tomorrow and I know that they would be. Sry interested in the story of my HIPPA Violation in light of the #me.too.movement. So ,I have already sent them the documentation regarding the HIPPA Violation that occurred to me by Dr.Ted Patras and Dr.Brian Kearn. My ex-patients wife thought that in light of the current movement that my story should be told. I thought that you might also be interested. Merry Christmas

Spent seven days in the facility after significant neurosurgery (3 ICU, 4 PCU). Great staff. Everyone attentive, concerned, and available. Fun to be with. Made my recovery even faster than it might have been Facility is clean, cheerful, up-beat, and often spiritual. The food is, well ..., hospital food -- a bit bland but good portions. The food service operation is accurate and efficient.

My daughter's care while she had outpatient surgery was good. But trying to get these people to file the claims with both insurance companies has been a nightmare. Billing Department is very unethical.

Currently here for a family member. I wish I could pack them up and take them elsewhere. I realize hospitals have to be paid but they should not be so blunt and in your face about it. For example ordering dinner and having to change things around because your insurance might not cover it. While my family member and I have no problem throwing our money at this hospital, I would like to get what I pay for in excellent patient care. It looks nice and it's clean but the staff doesn't seem trained in patient sensitivity or the little details that count. The little things you would do if it were your family member. You can at least try to pretend you care. They say they cna staff comes in to check on patients every hour but my loved one was laying in their own filth for hours. Completely unacceptable. There's no love or passion in the week I've been here. There's just confused head tilts when I'm asking for the basic care. Now I know why my loved one has fallen in the past. Patient safety is a joke here. Go somewhere else!!!!

I was there for my delivery. The nurses at the labor and delivery were nice. I ordered food and gave specific instructions several times that I want vegetarian food and I don’t want meat or bacon in my food. And they served me food with a piece of bacon in it!! Very irresponsible. Didn’t order any cooked food for the rest of my stay there. :(

My wife and I just had our second baby delivered at the Birck Family Birth Center (our first child was delivered here as well). We truly appreciated the welcoming and helpful nurses and staff that cared for us during our stay. Everyone on staff truly loves their job, and it becomes evident in the level of care they provide and the attention to detail.

Ashley Clark

I had emergency surgery! For the 1st time being in by myself also, the staff is amazing and very hospitable! The greys anatomy team was awesome also!

Currently sitting on the FLOOR in the emergency room there are "no room" available even though I just watched two open. after 5 people walked passed cassie got us chairs. This has got to be the strangest ER they keep asking why he even came here who told him to come here. Nurses and doctors are talking down the halls asking where they're taking a patient and I looked at his xrays couldn't find anything dont think that's very reassuring to hear. The initial nurse practitioner was extremely rude wish I could have caught her name, basically tried seeing if we would just leave instead of waiting..

My daughter says “I want to give this place a 5 star rating”...so we did. Thank you for fixing her up!! She is brand new! Thanks!!
