Yesterday I went to the ER and would characterize the experience as pleasant. The entire staff was very friendly and competent. There was no wait. Dr Hemingway was an excellent listener and worked hard to accomplish what I needed..Anne and Joe, the nurses were quite attentive. Dr. May, the Neuro Interventional Radiologist did a procedure and it was totally pain free. I have had the procedure done before and it was not nearly as pleasant. Overall, I arrived after breakfast and was out of there before lunch.. As avisitor to the island I am impressed!

THANK YOU Wilcox Medical center!! ER staff was very helpful in treating my son's back injury. Doctor (Dr. Downs) is Yale trained and wasvery very helpful. We live in NJ & the care we got on Kauai was just as good as we get here. FIVE STARS!

State of the art, professional, courteous, very impressive. I was not there as a patient, rather as a caregiver, but was with my charge for pre-op, post-op and recovery. Over a 48 hour period, I observed a number of physicians, nurses, nurses aides, and physical therapy professionals. I also can't say enough about the skill/manner of Dr. David Rovinski for joint issues. He has done a number of my friends knees, two friends hips, my father's carpal tunnel on his hand. It has all turned out well. I do not live on Kauai most of the year, but if I have a knee give out, I am going to try to arrange for that doctor at that hospital.

From the front desk to everyone who handled my emergency, it was all professional and caring and properly handled. They knew how to take care of a person in great pain. Thank you everyone. You made it work.

I spent the first two weeks of January, and three days more, in this wonderful hospital. Not only did they save my life, but they made a harrowing experience into a relatively happy memory. I almost died of a bone and blood infection that came on very suddenly. We were on a one week vacation to Hawaii but I was in the hospital two hours after our plane landed, and stayed there until I could be air evacuated out to Stanford Hospital for special spine surgery. While I appreciate the spine surgeries I had at Stanford, I'll take Wilcox as a hospital over Stanford or any other hospital I've ever been in, ever. Friendly, responsible, professional, smart, personal, positive, positive, positive. And I mean everyone from the wonderful doctors to the people who cleaned the rooms. I could write many paragraphs about how they treated me with respect and kindness, while giving me the best of care. If you want to get sick, do so near Wilcox if you can.

We visited the hospital following a surfing accident of my son resulting in a injured elbow and hand. We were seen by two doctors who were both very kind, knowledgeable and who provided high quality care in a very friendly manner. The nurses and other staff were all very good too. We were very grateful for the quick and efficient help. As a visitor to the island it was amazing to receive such positive and high quality care.

Do not come here. I had to drive my broken self here and wait as everyone after me got a room while I'm in extreme pain. You better off taking care of yourself if you're in an emergency

Sent to lab with 2 week old baby, blood draw from bottom of foot. The laboratory worker dropped the tube twice spilling most of the blood and sad the baby was crying so much because the lab worker had to keep grabbing and pressing foot for more blood. They need trained people at this place even the pediatric doctor keeps adding more tests just because of insurance and not needed. I will never go back horrible experience and lab definitely needs training.

Many good things can be said about the Wilcox Medical Center. ...Taking into consideration the size of the island community; we have to be grateful for the opportunities and care this facility provides!

Great Hospital and very professional staff at ER and Ob/Gyn department. We were in vacation in Kauai last week and my wife was pregnant with twins in 19 weeks. She started having contractions and by late evening I had to take her to ER at Wilcox Memorial Hospital in Lihue with severe contractions pain. The ER staff took us in very fast and after evaluating the situation , we were admitted in the Ob/Gyn department.Over here , the doctor on call , Dr Mathis (I apologize if I misspell the name), came very quick, took another ultrasound exam and explained in detail the situation.Very professional and very kind.Even though my wife lost the babies because of incompetent cervix, we can not thank enough to the medical team from Wilcox for their kindness, professionalism and empathy they shown us.We also want to thank Dr Whites who made the delivery process very smooth the next day together with Kandi, our nurse, who was outstanding. Kandi was there for us every moment, offering us everything we needed, explaining in details of what to expect after we leave the hospital.Thank you Kandi for your kindness and comfort you show to my wife during that traumatizing experience of a miscarriage.

They failed to diagnose my 7 month pregnant daughter with pneumonia. She asked for an x-ray, but no. They sent her home with benedryl. She went to waimea hospital knowing something didn't seem right and they took chest x-rays and put her on a z pack. Sure enough pneumonia. Horrible horrible hospital, really guys. What a discraceful bunch of idiots!!! Yes, this dad is pissed!

I dislocated my finger and injured my shoulder and ribs last night 8/16/14. All of the ER personnel were very caring and professional, from the receptionist, to the nurses, to the radiology technician. My doctor, Owen Prentice, M.D. did a fantastic job manipulating my finger back in place. He was warm, explained everything in great detail, and arranged for appropriate follow-up care.

Our family stayed in Kauai over Thanksgiving and loved it. Unfortunately our 3 year old became very ill and was having respiratory problems. We visited the Wilcox Emergency Room and was seen by Dr. Ryan McMorries, he was very thorough and calming for my wife and I. He was able to diagnose and treat our daughter very quickly. Our nurses and respiratory specialist were all great. Our total visit was probably only 2 hours with most of that waiting to watch for how she responded to the treatment. Definitely recommend this ER.

I would have to rate Wilcox Memorial as about the best medical care and treatment (and most certainly the best emergency care) I've ever encountered. I was visiting Kaua'i for what was supposed to be five day hikes, but slipped on a wet floor and broke my elbow (so much for hiking). I had a remarkably short wait in the ER waiting room (I guess I was "lucky" my injury was early in the day), and I received speedy and professional attention in being x-rayed and diagnosed. Outside the obvious fact that I would rather have not been there at all, I consider myself incredibly lucky to have had my event in a place and time that allowed me to be treated by such an efficient, professional team, and by a doctor who is reputed to be best ortho surgeon on the island (and among best in the State). I was lucky as well that Dr. Ravinsky was the on-call physician over the weekend and was kind enough to return my worried call about swelling. Time will tell how quickly and completely my elbow heals, but I feel it got the best chance possible at Wilcox.

Admitted New Year's Eve with broken ankle during vacation. Cannot say enough about the er and or staff and doctors- everyone was friendly and positive and helpful. Made a bad experience seem relatively minor!

Girlfriend fell and hurt her shoulder on a hike. We practically walked straight into a room, then immediately into Imaging and a doctor practically teleported into the room after the x-ray. I literally cannot believe how fast the service was here. The entire staff was on the ball and made sure she was seen despite not being able to fill out the paperwork right away. Everyone seemed competent and the doctor was sure to explain things in a way that made sense, including some diagrams. At no point did I feel like they were trying to milk the insurance or just get us our of their way, despite it being Christmas Eve.

I was close to drowning due to foolish water safety on Kee Beach, I had taken in a snorkel full of water due to playing with an underwater camera and then being unable to touch bottom I was not able to swim regularly due to the camera on my right wrist and no flippers. I was hauled out by my daughter and we decided that it would be a great idea to have the lifeguards check me out, they were very effective and took most of my history and kept me on oxygen for awhile and took my blood pressure a number of times, and they were surprised that I knew so much about my medication and the number of different kinds of drugs I take . Man did speed up I could hear tower on the radio to both the fire EMTs and the ambulance is strange to hear yourself being talked about in the third person. The ambulance crew was very thorough and encouraged me to go with them to Wilcox and I chose not to ! Is it good to know that there is an wonderful hospital that can be in a short distance to the favorite place that we like to vacation? You bet! I was also lucky that one of the Young Doctors who knew the Ambulance Crew was on the beach and was quietly letting the Ambrosius, firemen EMTs and Lifeguards know that he was available if. Needed.
