Beautiful hospital and grounds! Only criticism is the place is like a maze! Signage doesn't help enough to let you know where you are and how to exit. So many different elevators! And the parking structure also doesn't have enough signage telling you which way to more parking and which way to EXIT!!

Queens is the Level One Trauma center on Oahu. The care that is provided is absolutely top notch. We have had to use this hospital on two separate occasions 4 years apart. Each experience was very good. The people at this hospital work with Aloha. Highly recommended.

We checked in at 2:29pm. It is now 6:00pm. This is not at all great waiting for result of knee X-ray. I know it's a busy hospital but have the courtesy of letting us know what happening. Fricken irritating. Never come here if your not dying.

Took over 4 hours to get into ER. Another 3 hours to get admitted to hospital. Told by Dr. next morning that the patient, my wife would need to stay another night before checking out. She could not eat or drink anything all that first morning until she had an ultra sound done, which took place at almost 1pm. Then the next thing we know is a nurse walks in and she is being discharged with no word from the doctor at about 2:30pm. We barely made it to hotel. My wife felt like she was going to pass out. Next morning I had to rush her back to ER. She was apparently dehydrated since her prior discharge. They did anything to help her regain fluids after the ultra sound. But that's ok, it's all on our dime. They won't own up to crap or work with us on any of the charges. You think they would considering the way she got discharged.

Over the years, many family members have been in & out of Queen's. There's good nurses & bad nurses & overall Queen is a good enough hospital. The reason why I am giving 3 stars is because there were a few instances that left me bewildered and the hospital didn't own up bad conduct. For instance, a couple nurse aides forcefully took my grandma's clothes off and left her standing in the room naked while they spoke Tagalog with each other -- completely oblivious they need to dress my Grandma. She was frail and fighting cancer. Another time, my mom was in the ER. The doctor was extremely condescending. There's no need to speak to us like we're mentally challenged & then give us attitude for trying to clarify what we don't understand. If we were in the medical profession, we wouldn't need your help. Then there are great experiences like the mammogram department & their colonoscopy department. Great caring nurses who aren't in a rush & extremely patient & understanding. In conclusion: there's good & there's bad... May you get a good caring professional that day you need them.

I've had two successful surgeries done at Queens, one shoulder replacement in 2008, and the other last month, 2016, an emergency spinal surgery. I felt the surgeons did an excellent job and the nurses and aids were extremely kind and compassionate. The food was even excellent-- ordered off an attractive menu, no less! I actually wished I could stay longer! Who gets service like this at home?

Queen's ER is dark & foreboding. The staff are automatons, limited to spartan response. You get but enough to question perception.10 hrs I spent, many alone in a disused room. no light; no communications. Then, deliverance. In Oncology, the nurses are butterflies - quiet, gentle, buoyant joy. Perfection lives: it's found in relief. That's what I got. The doctors are an elusive & curious link between the two worlds.

I remember a while, while back when there was an awesome cafe that had club sandwhiches that wete great ! Their cafeteria was like a restaraunt. Let us not forget that they have a valet parking, for those who juat won't drive around for parking. They have always been great, I'm talking about when we were there for my young sisters birth in the early 90's to my daughters birth in 01. We made a decision to make sure it was here, that our daughter was born. The staff is honestly caring, & very professional.

As an inpatient, the food is good and the staff competant. It is hard to get rest since your vital signs, weight measurement, blood tests etc. are not coordinated and you are constantly being awakened for one reason or another. Likewise, the same conditions apply as an outpatient. For a single appointment you are reminded by email, cell phone messages, and recorded and live cell phone calls which is harassing.

Some of the staff here are extremely rude and have terrible bedside manner, particularly towards the poor.

Dont go here if you dont have insurance... they billed me 1500 dollar for an ER visit. I did not receive ANY treatment they just refered me to another hospital. Wow leaves me speechless... never had a worser treatment in a hospital.

While vacationing in Hawaii in late June, I stepped on a sea urchin. After one day, I decided I needed to have it examined and went to Queen's ER. Compared to other needs, this was a minor ER visit. Nonetheless, the staff gave me a thorough examination and were incredibly kind, efficient and effective. Beyond this, all personnel that attended to me had great personalities, with a proper sense of cheeky humor which I loved.

Ed Oshiro

Always excellent service.

I have been suffering from a knee injury. Dr. Murray did wonders. I walked out of Queens feeling little discomfort thinking it was the pain Meds, well guess what? Hours later at home I have not had to take anything for pain. I'm walking without that limp. The whole staff in the Surgery Center, from checking in to leaving were friendly and comforting. A wonderful experience for something that could have been very stressful. The not so good thing was when the nurse call for my ride, he couldn't wait the few minutes for me to get to the car. The valet instead of just asking him to circle around, he was told to leave all together. Good thing my ride ignored him and stayed back until he saw me. Maybe somehow upon discharge the name of the patient should show up on a screen so things might move better.

I was at Queens for 2 wks w my mom, my brother is with her now. My time there, was good. All the nurses, nurses aides, doctors, food delivering svc, cleaning crew, etc,... were very caring, informative, very helpful. I give it to them, for all that they do. We all have our gifts. May God bless you all in all that you do. Aloha from Texas!!!!!!

As a family member of a patient and a practicing RN I am appalled at the quality of care at Queens. My family member has had 4 hospitalizations r/t new cancer diagnosis since February each lasting 1-2 weeks. The quality of care has been all over the place. I would never recommend this Hospital for inpatient acute care or oncology care. There have been episodes where we found my family member covered in poop and urine and clearly hadn't been checked on for hours. They placed my immunocompromised family member in a double room. There have been episodes where his IV has infiltrated and the nurses are pushing IV meds and antibiotics without checking the site. The Nurses do not advocate for their patients and family members. They do not actively listen or care about patient/family concerns. Communication between MDs, Nurses, and Patients is non-existent. They have treated us like pariahs for asking questions about plan of care. It is truly appalling that I have had to resort to arguing with staff to be listened to and for my family member to get treated with Respect. I've worked as a Nurse for 6 years and I spent many years as a Queen's Volunteer and it is a damn shame how terrible Queen's really and truly is.

Greatest nurses and cnas ever' Marilyn and Jamie real stand outs.

I gave birth here about a year ago and I was very pleased with everything. The room was nice and spacious. The nurses and Dr. we’re super kind and made me feel comfortable.

Edilberto Camargo

Got into a moto accident. Fractured my shoulder blade, 3,4 ribs, and broke my ankle. They took great care of me and got me up and walking in 3 days. Definitely recommend.

Angelina DiGrazzia

Never been treated better. Was a paramedic in Calif, been to/worked with at least 50 hosp in my career, personally treated in approx 10. Queens had the best of everything. Went there for surgery. Everyone from valet to nurses and drs kind courteous and treated me like a person instead of a number or just another pt. Highly recomended!

Excellent medical care by all staff

I was in Florida with my sister from Hawaii. She was visiting. Her husband was rushed to the hospital with an aortic dissection. The staff was so helpful, calling us and updating us on the progress. The doctor, although I don't know him is amazing!. My brother-in-law was given a ten percent chance of making it through the surgery. Seven or Eight hours later we got the call. He made it! I want to thank everyone at Queen"s hospital who is taking care of my brother-in-law . Thank you for the work you do! Many Blessings Leslie Brown

The team of doctors and nurses are highly trained and very knowledgeable about the care you need to receive.

I slipped and fell in the early morning and cut my lip while falling and went to Queen's ER to be treated. My experience at Queen's ER was exceptional. From the Security Guard to the Admitting nurse to the Intake Nurse to the Nurse's Aid to the Physician Assistant Jamie to Doctor Chung-Esaki and from the Discharge Nurse, everyone was caring, professional, considerate and personally concerned about my condition. They realized that I did not really want to be there and they tried to make my stay as comfortable as possible, although they were very busy with other emergencies. I am now recovering well from my fall and deeply appreciative of the professional and attentive care that I received. Thank you Queen's ER!

Best hospital in hawaii

I go to the clinic. And you basically see a student doctor. That goes and gets another doctor to confirm if it is the right choice and decision. I did get medication I needed but they offered to do dermatologist for me but instead retracted saying that I wouldn't need one cause they would give me same medication ways. And they said if my skin got worst to come back for stronger medications. Hmm I just think that a dermatologist would have more answer on skin probs like ezcema. I was already in bad mood which could alter this review but when you tell a patient that symptoms will always come back why couldn't you write the recommendation and help me out for the long run instead of getting me to come back again. I dont really like this clinic but it's close...and I dont like being weighed. In the lobby with other patients. Also sometimes other patients just have b.o... And whenever I uber the front of the hospital is always packed and annoying to get picked up.

Unethical nurses & lack of Doctors in the ER is epidemic. What an experience I wish no one endures. After my daughters ordeal yesterday (4/17/16) We will be seeking legal representation. And will make sure the news and the media hear all about it too. Smh.

Queen's Medical Center Hospital is a level 4 trauma location they have advanced life support a very busy helipad. Queens is a teaching Hospital this means that there are a lot of people working here and they evaluate all conditions entirely there are a lot of lives saved here on a daily basis.. I can attest to this I have been impatient now for 6 days and they are saving my life..

Eric Wang

Remarkable facility with quick and personable service.

This hospital is THE WORST. I took my son in because his fever spiked to 102 . They gave him medicine although I had already said I gave him Tylenol at gone and it didn't break the fever. The checked and said nothing was wrong and sent us home with his fever at 100.2 . Come to find out after taking my son to the doctor the very next day he had a damn ear infection and his doctor said there's no way IN HELL they could have missed it as bad at it was. What kind o professional does their job half ass on a 1 year old child. NEVER going back there again

Queen's Medical Center on Punchbowl St has been around for over two and a half centuries ago, give or take a few years. And it's not stopping for nobody. It also has physician's offices located in near and around for your consideration and convenient. Almost everything you need.

Dear CEO Art Ushijima, Please do something about your VALET PARKING PREDICAMENT! I prefer to park my vehicle because those young employees from Elite Parking don't care because it is not their vehicle! They are constantly running around and speeding so that they can deliver your car in a timely manner. I would prefer them to drive my car carefully and I wait patiently. The $5.00 parking fee is way to high that's why many people are utilizing the front drop off to wait for their love ones rather than parking their car. My 82 yrs old dad took the bus from Waialae Ave. to visit my brother who has Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia in January 2016. At this moment, my dad park his car by Board of Water Supply to avoid paying the $5.00 parking fee. If you visit you son daily, that's a lot of money. I had to buy a LONG TERM PARKING PASS FOR $15.00 A WEEK. The Long Term Parking Pass should be free if your love one has CANCER! The family is already emotionally stress and still have to figure out how to pay for the parking fee. The parking should have VALET for people who prefer to Valet their car and a separate self park for those people who wants to park their own car. QUEEN'S MEDICAL CENTER is a NON-PROFIT organization who wants to charge everyone a parking fee of $5.00 for a PROFIT. PALI MOMI MEDICAL CENTER does not charge a parking fee if a member of your family is admitted at the Hospital! I highly recommend a PARKING SURVEY to be initiated NOW. I met many people who are not happy with the current parking venue. Thank you.

I was born and raised in Queen's. I still remember the original coffee shop they had the best club sandwich and the best potatoe salad with a strawberry shake. Going though corridors under and though walls at Queens. The wooden wheel chairs, and yes we race them which was follow with a ear tug by my MOM. We lived right behind the hospital across the original nurses housing. So how can't my MOM not know. My first hula show in front the the banyan tree ,I think that use to be where the emergency was??? My best memory was My Father who was the first Filipino to work on the 4th floor. Now this was the 60's ,you know what was done there???? In his wing, no one was Alive?? His name is Jose "Joe" Caban. My name Charlette A. P. Kealoha. P. S. My first job which came with pride not $ was a candy striper. I think they should bring that back, for when people sees that uniform their smile lets us know that they are proud of the youth of Queen's Hospital. Mahalo to the Past and President people of my life.

Love the staff they are very caring and fast

Outstanding! Dr. Tikhonenkov, our urologist, performed surgery very skillfully, any interaction with staff of any kind, including non medical personnel was gracious and kind. Medical attention was very consistent and personable, patient's family member can stay in a cot for free in a private room, patients and family can order meals in house from a menu, good follow-up after care with phone calls. Nurse managers checking in with the patient to make sure everything is going well, nurses going the extra mile. Plus, the lobbies and waiting rooms, eateries, and traditional décor, are unlike any hospital in the US that I know of. Much culture and honoring, respect, etc done with true Aloha that perhaps can only be found in this particular way, in Hawai'i. If you have to have surgery, Queens is the place to go!

Father went to Queens complaining of stomach pains in early June. Took blood and other tests along with MRI. After no notification, he contacted his family physician who reported that they had sent all the paper work to the gastroenterology department, and to wait for them to call to schedule an appointment. Father waited a week for a call from GI Dept. When they did not call he called again and inquired, they said they will call him back. He waited another week and again no return call. Father waited over a month, not wanting to complain. I then called while taking him to another hospital, suddenly miraculously they have two openings the next day. They blame raising cost due to law suits and high prices. Wonder why?

staff ranges from pretty nice to very nice, and the grounds are lovely. but ive been twice in 11 years. my question is, why so slow? the first visit was for myself. dental pain. i was put in a room away from others so my crying wouldnt disturb. time till i was helped? 8 1/2 hrs. the second visit was with a friend. broken neck. time till she got helped? 9+ hrs. also, toward the end, when she was tired, each staff coming to do something (not always important) said "just do this last thung and then we'llletyou sleep till the surgeon gets here." nope. about every ten minutes, from around hour 3, staff woke her. sometimes just to say "hi, my name is..."

I am currently going through Mohs cancer surgery and reconstructive surgery. All of my surgery and recuperation has been at Queens Medical center with Dr. Boyer for my Mohs surgery and Dr. Alam for my Reconstructive surgery. The doctors and their personal staff have been wonderful in all aspects during this very difficult time in my life.. Also all of the staff at Queens Hospital continue to be so professional and truly caring and kind...Bravo to a well trained group of Doctors, Nurses and Staff at Queens. I cannot say thank you enough.

Idiotic signage. Without doubt, this is the most ineptly signed hospital I have ever been in (and I have been in hospitals in Australia, Japan and The United Arab Emirates). Whoever did the signage is mentally retarded, or just a completely inept person who got the job because of cronyism. Got thoroughly lost. Was nobody at information. The 'help line' was no help. And the 15 minute free parking is a joke. It takes you 15 minutes just to get inside the actual hospital from the parking structure. Had to ask directions from workers who could barely speak English. And all I was doing was dropping off clothes to a patient who is a friend of a friend. Very, very frustrating experience.

Janna Nikolov

Very professional very fast support and so nice people ! Special thank to Lisa I arrived with ambulance to emergency department because of pain in my back ( I wasn't be able to move at all) and after 3 hours I back home on my lags , was able to sit and walk

I am a tourist from Las Vegas. I came to Hawaii for a vacation with relatives. There was a big fight that broke out and left my family member in the Trauma room. They took great care of him and also treated us and the patient with the upmost respect. This is by far one of the greatest hospital I've ever been in.

Lynn Graham

Wish I could rate this 0 stars, for the Family Treatment Center by which the name I find a total lie, this center is a psychiatric unit and isn’t what it sounds like AT ALL! I was a patient here myself and my experience was absolutely horrible. My first night was not comforting at all I was shivering the whole night! Their cheap thin blankets barely help! It is way too damn cold there even 2 out of 4 showers don’t have hot water so my first shower was veryy cold! This place has locks on every door and it is very irritating to wait for staff to come and open your bathroom door or room door! They do not have the right assistance for older teens I felt like I was in Kindergarten there because all I did was color, read books, and play board games. It was the same cycle everyday to, wake up in the cold room, brush my teeth do my hygiene then get my vitals checked by a new person everyday, wait for everyone to be ready, eat breakfast then do a group session then go to the small courtyard where all you can do is play basketball and sit and look around, do another group session then have lunch and then have a phone call and then go to our cold rooms then another group session and break and then showers, then wait for everyone to be ready (and keep in mind there’s like 18 people who stay here and only 4 showers and 2 of them most people don’t use because it’s cold water), then eat dinner and then have another group session and break and then bed time. It was absolutely boring and insane and what I did mostly was sleep to keep myself from going crazy. My whole stay here felt completely ISOLATING and DEGRADING, do something about this! DO NOT EVEN GET ME STARTED ON THE STAFF! They are absolutely TERRIBLE people! They have no empathy for the patients and yell at them instead of calming them or talking to them when they do something wrong! OH MY GOD and they have nick names for the kids! They call the youngest kid in there “Little man” because he’s short and acts up and has anger issues, which is absolutely absurd! You guys are ADULTS and should know better and you’re the main ones who preach about not bullying other people like cmon the ABSOLUTE ABSURDITY IN THE AUDACITY OF THE IGNORANCE! How IRONIC! You people need to change this RIGHT NOW! I demand better treatment for every patient no matter what because they are dealing with issues personally! You signed up for this job to help kids not degrade them! DO BETTER! And QUEENS YOU BETTER BE CHECKING ON THIS CENTER TO! THESE KIDS DESERVE BETTER!!!

KKD Kona

Amazing care, amazing people. They are dedicated to your health needs. We are from the Big Island. Nurses, Doctors and staff were courteous and helpful. Made u feel right at home during our stay here. Aloha.

My brother passed away in June 2016 in a moped accident. He was in a coma when he arrived at the hospital. All of his family lives in Texas. After he was brought in, the hospital gave his belongings away without our permission to his employer. We have yet to get his belongings-wallet, debit card, credit card, etc.... My brother's employer who is a doctor-rents space at the hospital and they can't get him to return my brother's belongings to our mother. The doctor will not return our emails when asked about the wallet. It took us about three months for the hospital to tell us what exactly happened. It's hard enough to deal with the death of our loved one and live so far away. The hospital's negligence is unacceptable!

Kerry Matsumoto

Flew over from Big Island for surgery and got nothing less than A-1 care from everyone I had contact with. All nurses and staff were considerate, kind and helpful. I am a big wuss and never once felt like I was bugging them with my needs - which were attended to promptly. When I had to change flights, the social worker there even helped with a waiver of charges for the flight change. Although I didn't eat much, the menu looked fabulous :-) Nothing but good things for the staff on the 9th floor of Ewa Bldg. Thank you all.

Best Hospital Cafeteria food. Free valet parking is great for sick &/or disabled patients.

If you don't have US insurance, don't go there. My mom hurts her foot, so we took her to QMC. After waiting for an hour, we finally went in the meeting room. However, we were not seeing the doctor but a accounting(?) lady who asked us to prepaid the cost of the visit. She said it will be round US$1500 and asked us to prepaid US$1600. After that, some nurses took my mother to take x-ray and came back. Half hour later, a doctor came in and asked my mom few questions. Whole process took only 5 minute. He told us that the nurse will do the treatment then he left. Another 1 hour later, the accounting lady came and told us the payment is ok. Then, she talked with some nurse and a nurse came to put on a medical boot on my mom foot. The nurse said the treatment is finish and we can go. After we leave Hawaii and went back home, we found a US$1500 invoice in our mailbox. Since we prepaid US$1600, we thought it should be fine. Two months later, we found a same US$1500 invoice and other (US$2200-US$1600)=US$600 invoice. Then, we found out that the $1500 invoice is for the doctor fee, and the extra $600 invoice is the leftover fee for the hospital. The total of the whole visit is around $3700. It is crazy expensive. Because the 2 months delay, I am not sure can I claim my traveler insurance now.

I got to say I'm appalled at the condescending way the doctors have been treating me and our family. It makes me question the quality of care.

Queen's Hospital is our big hospital. Like many hospital, incremental building additions overtime make it difficult to navigating through the hospital. I really mean navigate when you're inside the hospital. If I have to give direction: "From the parking structure, you take the elevator to street level, walk through the promenade, through the entry lobby. Here the volunteer reception can give you directions to your destination. Emma tower is where I usually go and visit patients. You can continue to walk pass the gift shop, tunnel through the hallways, keep left or follow the arrows on the ground or the overhead sign and there you are, the Emma tower elevators. I like Queen's since there is more room in the patients room and I don't know, I just think people get well faster if they have some breathing room.

Addressed to: CEO Art Ushijima HOMICIDE...and prove me otherwise!!!! Well you go to the hospital with infected leg and end up with brain damage, peritonitis, pneumonia, blood clots, etc. and dying, TAKEN OUT IN BODY BAG. Please avoid this hospital at any cause!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you want to live. OUR DAUGHTER WENT IN FULLY ALERT AND ORIENTED, AND WITHIN FIRST 24-48 HOURS BECAME BRAIN DEAD. BE CAREFUL, SO THIS DOES NOT HAPPEN TO YOU OR YOUR LOVE ONE. AND NO EXPLANATION BY MEDICAL TEAM WAS GIVEN TO US EITHER, HEAD PHYSICIAN OF ICU KEPT AVOIDING US LIKE A PLAQUE. THAT'S WHAT I CALL........ETHICS!!!!!!!!! Our daughter was admitted to QMC on 12/28/2015 with infection to L lower leg. At the time of admission she was fully alert and oriented. I had 2 telephone conversations with her very same day, so did her father next day, she was visited by her friend - who brought her toiletries she requested. She also had a nice conversation with one of the nurses, I found later on. SOMEBODY decided to induced her into coma, from which she never recovered ( they were not able to bring her back - wonder why) ended up in a vegetative state due to hypoxia and adventualy ended up dying. CONGRATULATIONS QMC, you really outdid yourself - what you manage in such a short period of time, I have never experienced in almost 40 years of my nursing career. I have lost my only child. To this day we as a parents have not received any appropriate explanation related to our daughters death from the medical staff ( their only explanation after they couldn't bring her back from unnecessary coma induction was: CRITICAL CONDITION ) - I would expected more from medical staff, but I guess my expectations our too high. Contact with patient relation services was useless too, as they never returned our call and every time I would call in or walk in, their so called manager would be hiding and pretending she is off that day - how convenient ( well I kind of do not blame her - how do you explain death of a child to the parents as a office clerk, if the medical stuff is not competent enough - or afraid of legalities to do that). I am just curious how many patients perish in this hospital similar way as our daughter did and have nobody to speak for them. Simply our daughter was over medicated, somebody did not used a common sense, our daughter was only at 110lbs not a 300lbs gorilla. I also wonder if hospital has reported this event to the state ( as this is considered reportable event, something happened what was not suppose to) or just hiding it, because it happens very often ( and this is the way, how it is done in QMC ) or it would brought in an investigation and compromised hospital status. We as a parents want to protect public and other parents children, so they do not have to experience the same pain as we have to. For Gods sake we lost our child and they do not have even ethical obligation as a physicians to explain to us, how they screwed up ( what had happened, where did they go wrong or maybe this is normal - when they put someone to sleep, they REALLY want them to sleep PERMANENTLY) and in the process they killed our child. Without proper explanation we will always feel, that they used our daughter for medical experiment. Person who comes to the hospital with healing L lower leg infection after already using an oral antibiotics does not need to die in this time of scientific advancement and who does not have any terminal disease, but by inducing our daughter into unnecessary coma, they created many complications, she did not have upon admission to the hospital. I take my sister into the sister hospital out in Ewa. We had such a great time, everyone was kind and willing to work with us. Then they wanted to take an ambulance from one hospital to another so we go. When we get to Queens in Honolulu the atmosphere totally changes. Everyone we Encountered has been pushy, rude, and have been moving on bare minimum. I will never go back to the ER here. They seemed to not be so concerned about my sisters health and welfare. Horrible help couldn't even push her in a wheelchair.

Our Family Experience On Jan. 23, 2018 The Queen's Med.Center Told Our Family That Everyone Who Dies While Admitted In This Hospital Will Have An Autopsy,. So I Signed And Prayed This Would Not Be Needed. He Passed On That Day NO Autopsy !!!! NONE !!! Stating My Father Was Old. !!! Then Lost My Dad Somewhere In Storage!!! Weeks Later I Was Able To Find Him & Reschedule Yet Another Funeral.. We All Hate Them.!!! ReallyTaking Good Care Of The Hawaiian People, If We Were Wealthy We'd Be Treated With A Lot More Respect.!!!!!!!!

Wow, This hospital was unreal, Hurricane was coming and they wanted to discharge my dad in the rain with no one to help us. Flights wasn't flying from Molokai we came on the air ambulance and needed assistance to fly back. He wasn't even off of his IV and meds. The Nurses and some of the Doctors made and effort to make sure we was doing good wound was doing good. The people who runs the insurance and bill collectors wanted us out. Calling nurse on last day while we wait for assistance from family member from Molokai to take us home, why are we still here and when are we living. It's sad that the Nurses and Doctors who do what they do good have people with no, no common sense and no compassion for their patients here. These kinds of situations must be addressed and taken care of because Queens Hospital will be known as the hospital that only care about making money not to take care of their patients. Sad for the staff who make their name QUEENS HOSPITAL look good. When in actuality they only care about taking your money, and kicking you out of their facility. Sad.

The hospital staff was great. Problem came when its 9pm and there is no one at the desk to validate my parking card. Then I had to walk all the way back to the ER at night alone to get it stamped. The price difference was $5(validated) or $16(not) ugh!! Not cool!

My son had an emergency appendix surgery and received excellent care from the medical staff. The doctor even called our home in South Carolina at 1:30am, Pacific time to share an update on my son's progress after the procedure . It is a comfort to know my child was in expert hands when our family was so far away. The nurses were so friendly and patient. The cafeteria food was much better than his typical college cafe food.

My sister passed away on February 1, 2016 at 11:54 a.m. according to Queen's Medical Records, which was incorrect since I documented the information. When I requested that they correct the information, they refused. This is just the last example of the chain of events where Queen's will treat your family member at Queen's, if they are not rich or well connected, as a science project like dissecting a frog while your loved one is still alive. Queen's will not even mention an autopsy is when it is needed the most, at the time of your loved one's passing. Be sure to ask for an autopsy, in case you need to sue them for gross negligence and/or malpractice.

Our overall experience for my stay at Queens was outstanding! My surgeon, Dr. Vincent Nip is just the BEST! Dr. Pangilinan was most optimistic and reassuring. My Anesthesiologist, Dr. Yoshida brings calm to patients who is going in for procedures. Thank you so much Doc's for your care. The nursing staff on Pauahi 7 is incredible!! Thank you so much Nua, Leilani, Malia, Valli, Erica, Kelsie, Josh, Stu, Moani and all the other nurses that assisted in my care. I'm sorry, a little mental blurp on remembering everyone's names. Thank you for your nurturing touch, Laughter!!:-)and more. What an amazing performance! To all the other departments, Concierge, Room Service, IV team, Housekeeping, Maintenance, etc. Thank you and great job! One last thing, you never left my room without asking, "Is there anything else I can do for you?" Impressive!! Mahalo Nui Aloha! Cameron & Jacque (patient) Hiro, Molokai

My husband was medevac'd to Queen's from Hawai'i Island with a near-fatal brain aneurysm. Miraculously, Dr. Sung Bae Lee was able to repair it with a coil, and hubby is now 90% his old self. He spent two weeks in QMC Neural ICU, where he received excellent care from Dr. Lee, Dr. Cherylee Chang, and a terrific staff of caring, skilled nurses and therapists. Even though he was intubated for two weeks, they somehow got to know him and communicate with him, and help him heal to the point where he could safely transfer to Rehab Hospital of the Pacific. QMC is beautiful, a bit meandering, but not too bad if you follow the signs. They have a very good cafeteria with a salad bar, hot food line, and made-to-order items, and a convenient coffee shop in the Lobby. There are places to sit outdoors and take a breather, however after - I think - 8 p.m., you can only exit through the doors by the ER, and if you go outside, you won't be allowed back in. FYI, it's cold in the hospital, especially ICU, so take a sweater.

My wife and I were involved in a traffic accident in July 2017. Susan was complaining of chest pains and was taken to Queens by ambulance . She was conscious and coherent. After arriving at Queens Hospital she was examined, to determine the extent of her injuries. She was given I.V. Tylenol. That was the only treatment she received. Other diagnostic tests were performed including an EKG She was at the hospital for approximately 2 hours, and released with a diagnosis of contusions {bruises} apparently from her seat belt. After arriving home in Colorado we received the bill from Queens for $24,000. This included a $14,000. charge for Queens being a trauma hospital and a $2,000. charge for it being an emergency. I believe the charges are fraudulent, and an attempt is being made to extort money from us. Avoid Queens Hospital unless you are indigent and there is no hope that they can steal your life savings. The good is the beautiful grounds and majority of helpful and caring nurses in the women's clinic and cancer center. ER the few times I was there was good care. The bad is the parking (why can't they build a large parking structure so the employees don't have to flood Makiki and ruin the residents situation?), bad experiences with not enforcing the two guest rule in admitted patient rooms, unprofessional orderlies talking personal stories when patients are in earshot, and some male oncology doctors that don't have the greatest bedside manner. You can't win them all.

This hospital is amazing, my wife went into acute respiratory distress at the airport as we were leaving our honeymoon trying to board the plane for Alabama and Dr Itoman and Dr Valdez a long with other doctors, profusionists and all the nursing staff went far above what most people would trying to save her life. Their kindness, extensive medical knowledge and devotion truly is a blessing from God. If you come here you can know that you or your loved one is in great hands!!!

Over the years took mother inlaw to ER a couple of times. Always 6-8 hours to get admitted and maybe a doctor takes 5-10 minutes with you. Last visit she was admitted after 6-8 hours for tests the next morning. After tests waited all day for doctor. No show and no explanation but discharged. Ridiculous! Medical records especially documenting medications is so inefficient. For being the premier hospital in Hawaii, lots of improvements needed.

Wow. My mind is blown and I don't really even know where to begin. I am a Caucasian 43 year old woman with Perianal-Fistulizing Chrohn's Disease, Hashimoto's disease, Polycystic-Ovarian syndrome, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, Fibromyalgia, and severe osteo-arthritic damage of the spine and shoulder. On Tuesday, March 5, 2019, I was seen by my PCP doctor in Kailua for significant lower back pain. My PCP doctor was concerned that I may have extensive damage to the spine. She wanted me to go to the ER immediately and get a MRI on my lower back. I was seen and treated promptly by Queens doctors and was diagnosed with a herniated disc. I was admitted to the hospital room and given excellent care. I left feeling 100% better. Unfortunately on Sunday, March 10th, the pain from the herniated disc returned ten-fold and I promptly returned to Queens once again for treatment. This time however, was vastly different than the time before. Perhaps, because I was unkempt and in PJs this time around, I was treated horribly. A brand new doctor at Queens came into my room, without examining me, and proceeded to be incredibly rude and condescending to me. He also stated, " you don't have a herniated disc" EXCUSE ME!!! YOUR DOCTORS DIAGNOSED ME!!! He then said, "we don't treat people for chronic pain, only acute pain, .breaks and things that can be fixed" and I replied, "but I'm in acute pain right now". and he rudely replied that I "shouldn't be in so much pain since my back wasn't really herniated." I then asked for another ER doctor's opinion because I wasn't sure WHAT EXACTLY I HAD WRONG WITH ME and WHY I WAS IN SO MUCH PAIN and this doctor apparently took offense to that and had his staff discharge me and put me outside, alone, heavily sedated. Unfortunately, because of this experience and also because of my health issues, I've now come to intensely dislike the ER, especially the ones in Hawaii. Apparently they only treat drug addicts and homeless people here. And more than likely, you will get lumped into either group, should you happen to find yourself there, in need of proper medical treatment. In particular, I've come to dread the Queens ER because it is a step below what I imagine being incarcerated is like: I've actually had a nurse ask me if I was homeless...EXCUSE ME? (No, Ma-am I'm here for a peri-anal abscess.) Never has THAT happened to me in ANY hospital before! I'm pretty sure some of the doctors in the emergency rooms of HI have become EXTREMELY JADED(it's an adjective) by the abuse and mistreatment they have suffered at the hands of drug addicts and/or homeless people. Not all of the Doctors take it personally though, and many do manage to do a REALLY good job, despite the hardships they face. (like the Queens staff on March 5, 2019), I HATE THAT THIS ONE EXPERIENCE CHANGED EVERYTHING I USED TO THINK WAS GOOD ABOUT QUEEN'S HOSPITAL: THE ALOHA SPIRIT, THE KINDNESS TO YOUR FELLOW MAN SUFFERING IN PAIN, THE ABILITY TO SEE A HUMAN AND NOT THEIR CIRCUMSTANCES. It is these "BAD APPLE" doctors whose time has passed and whose time has come to let someone more "caring" "respectful" and "capable" do the job that is expected of them. Hate, and anger spread like wildfire, but if you manage to "root it out" you can maintain the true balance of love and support towards your fellow man here, in paradise. I hope you do the Pono thing for the people of Oahu and get rid of the doctors who are actually breaking HIPPA LAWS, by not providing adequate care and support for their patients. I plan on contacting KHON2, KHNL, and KGMB with my notated experiences with Queen's hospital, as well as the give them the names of specific doctors who have broken HIPPA laws. I also will be calling Mayor Kirk Caldwell's office as well as Governor David Ige's office, and The State of Hawaii Regulated Industries Complaints Office Department of Commerce and Consumer Affairs, to lodge a formal and official complaint against The Queens Hospital and its Staff. Thanks for ruining Hawaii for me, I guess?

This past week was the 2nd time I ever had to go to QMC ER. I hate that ER. 1st time had to wait 45 minutes for a blanket for my dad. I literally had to chase someone down to get a blanket. In the meantime my dad was freezing. A ER nurse was constantly yelling at the top of her lungs - it was awful! This past week a co worker was in the waiting room for 10 hours before she got placed in a ER section - she also wasn't cleared to eat until waiting 9 hours, last time she ate anything was 12 hours earlier and she's diabetic. Not impressed with that hospital at all!!! I never get that problem at Kuakini hospital.

There is only one family restroom in this whole facility that has a baby changing station, and it was occupied for over half an hour. I had to change my baby in my car in the parking garage. They said there was a changing station on the first floor, nope.

Wow, is all I can say. Thank you for the great experience.

Horrible doesn't even scratch the surface of my experience at Queen's hospital! Don't waste your time or money! In my opinion that place should be shut down immediately! Close the door s safe Hawaii!

When my gran-pa visited Hawaii from Japan, he suddenly started suffering from chronic chest pain. All of his local friends recommended Queen's medical center as No.1 in Oahu. Doctors treated him quite nicely, and performed several cardiac examination, then they revealed his disease to be a reflux esophagitis. We were making a fuss about trifles. After that, gran-pa had trust in this medical center. He also had another problem. He was diagnosed as rheumatism and had suffered from severe joint pain. Japanese prestigious doctors couldn't cure his pain so he thought to consult a rheumatologist in Queen's medical center. Dr. Ken Arakawa cast a quick glance at his hand joints, and asked him a few questions, then diagnosed that this was not rheumatism but polymyalgia rheumatica. Doctor gave one steroid injection to his butt, and it diminished his long-term pain.

I want to leave a very honest and candid review of the Comprehensive weight management program (CWMP) at Queen’s hospital. First off I want you all reading this to ask yourself why they Emphatically, state that they do not do reversals of the gastric bypass during the info sessions that they require you to attend to initiate the process of getting the gastric bypass. I did all the research and asked all the questions, attended the meetings and followed through with all prerequisites prior to having my gastric bypass surgery. What I wasn’t told, was that 30% of people who get this surgery suffer lifelong side effects. Constant nausea, dumping, and low sugar ( hypoglycemia ) to name a few. What I wasn’t told, was that if I happen to fall into that 30%, Queen’s hospital CWMP would not help me. I am quite literally, slowly starving to death. I take my vitamins religiously and still need 2 iron infusions 3 times a year and bi monthly B12 shots, because my body is so severely malnourished. To add to it, My pouch was initially made too small and attached at a point in which my bowels slipped through the hole left by Dr. Bueno causing my intestines to twist. She continues to practice this surgery in the same manner, very nearly putting everyone she touches in unnecessary danger. I lost 8 inches of intestines because of it and haven’t been the same since. To add insult to injury, the stitch she used to attach the pouch to my old stomach, is known to cause ulcers. I unfortunately have one. My ulcer became so inflamed, that it ate through my old stomach and is now attached to it. The food is now going through it causing a host of other problems. The pain this stitch causes is unbearable some days. I now have to travel to Stanford University twice a year for tests and procedures because Dr. Bueno and the entire staff at Queens isn’t knowledgeable enough to help. If you choose to go through with your gastric bypass be aware that the staff at Queen’s CWMP will not assist you should you fall anywhere within the 30%. This surgery is their money maker and to admit that the percentage of those with lifelong side effects is as high as it is, would mean that they loose out on money in their pockets, and lets be honest, there is no integrity within that department. If I could turn back time I would never have done this to myself. I take responsibility for making a bad choice in choosing Dr. Bueno and those at CWMP, and I hope you don’t make the same mistake.

This is the most disgraceful and disturbing place to go. They will lock people up in a cement room while ignoring physical problems. They have taken things from peoples bags, including mine on SEVERAL OCCASIONS. I am truly sickened by the workers here.. ..They violated my civil rights multiple times through claiming I cant bring in my backpack, they have to hold it. Then they have taken things out several different times.

Really awesome staff.

Worst hospital I’ve ever been too . I’ve been to hospitals here and the mainland and this is by far the worst one yet. Came in with my grandma is really rough shape they left here in the waiting room for up to an hour. Then when they actually call her in they ask questions and once again left here there for another hour . We left and went to Kapiolani where they actually treated her like a human being. Don’t waste your time on this hospital because it’s horrible

Went to inquire about their Day Treatment Program. Everyone was nice and seemed concerned, however I was able to beat my addictions on my own with my FAITH IN GOD and FAITH IN MYSELF. I'm sure their program is a good one.

Spend 8 days at this hospital, however could not properly recover due to constant interruptions from staff or half dozen doctors coming in and out almost all day long. It's reputation isn't justified at all.
