The VA in Atlanta is a jobs program for "inner city residents," foreign doctors & nurses, and want-a-be doctors from local med schools. The Mission Act is a joke to the Atlanta VA and it is almost impossible to get referred to a Community Care doctor no matter how far away you live because they see that as a threat to their job security. By the way, you better not have to go to an emergency room. I broke my ankle in January, had to go to an emergency room for surgery and as of Oct 17 am still getting bills and collection threats from different providers. 8 1/2 months later.

Being from Tampa, Florida and having to get use to taking my father-in-law to the VA. I moved to Georgia to help both my mother-in-law and my father-in-law. My father-in-law always go to the prayer chapel of the VA to pray before each one of his appointments. Well July 2003 my father-in-law went to the prayer chapel of the VA to pray and he saw a publication spiritual book name "Our Daily Bread". My father-in-law did not know at that time that The Good Lord had him to be interested in the "Our Daily Bread" publication for what would turn out to be An Amazing Divine Move of God. My father-in-law gave the "Our Daily Bread" publication to my wife when we made it home. Keep in mind it was July 2003 of that year when my father-in-law had an appointment at the VA located on Clairmont Road and as always my father-in-law went to the prayer chapel of the VA to pray and took an "Our Daily Bread" publication home. My wife went straight to the August 5, 2003 story to read. You see the "Our Daily Bread" had 3/months woven into 1/huge book. June, July, August 2003. My dad appointment was in July of that year. But my wife skipped July altogether and went straight for August 5, 2003 story. You see my mother-in-law home was due to be sold on the courthouse steps August 5, 2003. So my wife was going to read the inspiration for August 2003 to encourage my mother-in-law and father-in-law to KEEP THE FAITH. Instead my wife saw the DISTURBING HEADING OF AUGUST 5, 2003 of "Our Daily Bread". UNEXPECTED GRIEF. Keep in mind my father-in-law got the "Our Daily Bread" from The VA Chapel and had taken it home. Oh My God!!! My wife saw the heading: UNEXPECTED GRIEF and she contacted "Our Daily Bread" to speak to the writer of that DISTURBING HEADING: UNEXPECTED GRIEF. My father-in-law praying before each appointment at the VA Chapel caused a writer of "Our Daily Bread" to receive a 24×36 Art Painting my wife done in Honor of the writer deceased teenage daughter that was killed during a car accident. The VA have a prayer chapel because they realize we are human and there is a POWER GREATER THAN US ALL THAT CAN LEAD and GUIDE US ALL. My father-in-law is yet living because of the great care he receives from GOD by way of the VA MEDICAL CENTER LOCATED ON CLAIRMONT ROAD IN DECATUR, GA.

Omg I had no idea it was this bad. Dont even bother going. I waited 3 hours to be seen in the ED with shortness of breath and infection. Finally saw a doc for a minute, been waiting over 3 hours now for an xray. no food no water, no nurse ever stopped by. i hit the call light no one came for over 15 minutes. Still waiting for anything. 7 hours now. im beyond upset.

Do not detox here if your a veteran and struggling. I hallucinated coming off of alcohol and said crazy shi* the police there were nice enough to play what I did not remember saying through the beds P.A. system the nurses normally use on a loop the next day. The nurse techs treated me like shi* because of what I said while delirious... The regular and head nurses and doctors are amazing.. that's the ONLY saving grace of this place. Do not come here unless its an absolute emergency.

Travis Stahl

Multiple times I sat for hours waiting to be seen for an appointment, other times they'd cancel or change and not update me. Most of staff is negative attitudes, and act like we're a burden

Spencer Adams

I came to the hospital emergency room about. 630 and now now it's 1255 and I still have not been seen by a triage nurse or doctor. How is their treatment fair to any veterans. The white veterans that checkin After me were seen right away while I am still waiting and the time is now 102am

Nazim Hudson

I am a new veteran and has been out the military for a month now. I went to sign up for my benefits and see about getting a refill on my anxiety medication. They asked me countless questions insuating that i was insane. I had my medical records with me since i was a new patient but they didn’t want them. They wanted to make their own decision about my health. So i find my self locked in the hospital for 2 days not being able to leave because they misconstrued my words and didn’t want to listen to me. They told me this happens to everyone at least one time. And the other staff told me i would be surprised how often this happened. So beware of this hospital their not trying to help you or listen to why your actually there. While i was there it was man having a stroke in the waiting room and no one cared they rolled him to the door and left him. This placed is not designed to help you so stay away.

After reading reviews about this place I was dreading our first appointment, but it was a very pleasant visit. We didn't have a very long wait time and everyone was super nice and helpful. Looking forward to our next visit.

My son is a vet. He has cancer. The people in that area of the hospital are fabulous! Only 2 caregivers on the floor were very nice to him. Most were too busy gossiping and on the phone. They were ignoring patients who were asking for help . I have never seen such blatant disregard for the military personnel in my life. I pray someone can correct the issues at this hospital .

Raymond Sumpter

This is where Owebama should have his medical needs taken care of at. He should have to schedule an appointment the same way as us as well. Most of the staff are very rude, and funding may not be cut, but you'd swear it was.

The Pharmacy at this hospital needs new techniques, technology, and pharmacists assistant that can process prescription faster. There is always a 4 to 6 hour wait time or your meds cannot be filled. Example I was sent to an ENT doctor through Tri-West which was authorized through the Veterans Hospital, the ENT doctor gave me two prescriptions to have filled on 5/16. I was told by the main hospital pharmacy to take the prescription to my primary care so the they could resubmit them through VA. It’s is now 6/21 a nurse from my primary care called and state that I will need to have the doctor that wrote the prescription fax the prescription to the VA main hospital pharmacy. VA authorized the doctors visit WHY AM I HAVING SO MUCH TROUBLE TRYING TO GET THE PRESCRIPTION FILLED. I have driven to the ENT in Decatur then to VA pharmacy on Clairmont and then to My primary care in Stockbridge Georgia for them to tell me to have the doctor faxed the prescription. And no one has authorized me travel pay and I still don’t have my medication. I have talked to patient advocate who is worthless, my primary care nurse practitioner is worthless and now VA is worthless I served my country proudly and this is the result. IS There Anybody That can help. It’s time to send a letter to Congress.

Patricia Schieppe

Always a wait and parking is hard to find. Medical personnel are always friendly and courteous.

Sherine Beatty

First time going to this location. Best VA facility I've been to in a while. From the time you pull into the parking garage staff is on hand ready answer questions and point you in the right direction. There was always someone inside the facility seemingly happy to help you find what you need. They had us in and out very quickly.

Tiffany H

Just trying to book an appointment for my husband. I was on hold for over 3 hrs today. I kept getting transferred to the wrong department and hung up on multiple times. Our vets deserve better!! Now we are in the ER. The Emergency department is so unorganized and inconsiderate. My husband is bent over and crying in pain and they are pulling people with paper cuts!!

Juno Craig Brooks

Parking is absolutely ridiculous, the facility is run down and filthy, travel pay is inconsistent and you’ll never know when you’ll get paid, the Pharmacy doesn’t comply with HIPPA laws, outdated signs throughout the hospital making navigation difficult, poor management filtering down to employees and wait times are long and unnecessary. I hate coming to this VA.

Wake Up

Atlanta VA Medical Center at Decatur: Please hire people who care for Veterans as though they are human beings. Please stop providing sub-par and mediocre care to Veterans. Please stop helping to decrease the Veteran population. Please stop encouraging Veteran Suicide. Do you think you can hire those people? Do you think you can stop those things? Prove it.

Pete C

Tried to make an appointment. First call got cut off. Called back put on hold. No one ever answered the phone. Gave up.

Kalahj Ford

The Operator who answered the phone at 12pm when I dialed the eligibility extension was extremely rude. First, she said “You want eligibility.” Then she sent me over to an automated person asking for another extension number

Henry Winston

Parking is bad but once you are in center you receive the best care I have no complaints.

Kelvin Hardnett

Its always crowded but I've always got my medical needs met.. as a veteran I'm getting the best care possible and it's all at the expense of the government, so I'm more than happy about that.. it's a headache waiting for service and to pickup prescriptions but hey what you expect when it's hundreds upon hundreds of people there at the same time!! Thanks VA!!!

Ben Huttoe

I brought my girlfriend here that is a veterans widow that has VA insurance and they refused her even though she looked as if she was about to die. I beought her to Emory since the VA hospitals are dishonorable and non helpful. Who ever has served should have their family taken care of. Glad to know how my grandfather and my uncle were treated. They got no help. Worst night trying to find emergency help that claims to help veterans and their widows. Dont come here for help. You wont get help.

Priscilla Fleming

One person doing ID's and it seemed the people at the desk were more concerned about finding out what Uber Eats delivered. Come on the hospital needs to do better than this.

Misha Driver

Went into the ER and had absolutely no issues. The staff was friendly and professional. My care provider took his time, made me feel comfortable and my care wasn’t rushed. I recommend this hospital to any veteran. I had no wait time either, I as in and out within 1 hour. Awesome service!

Niko K

I’ve moved a handful of times all over the country and been to multiple VA hospitals. This is HANDS DOWN the worst!! Horrible experience from the moment you enter the property. There’s literally nowhere to park. You’ll spend st least 30 minutes searching for a place or have to wait equally as long in the “free valet parking” which essentially micromanaged the “self park” parking garage. Every member of staff appeared frustrated and unhappy. Medical staff all came across to have minimal knowledge in their field. Generally had to relay on a computer screen to tell them what to do next. Avoid if possible.

Gloria Jeffery

The EMERGENCY DEPARTMENT needs improvements as far a wait time in the E\R for my husband was in the E\R for 9 Hrs due limited staff and you could sense in the atmosphere,Once he got in a room in the ER the staff was great! the wait time is just awful, and if you have patients experiencing chest pain,SOB,and Profuse sweating that patient should be Priority not check them in place a arm band on him and ask him to wait in the waiting room and sits in there as long as he can until the pain increase and goes a communicates this to the nurse then he's taken back .This has to get better. Once he was transported to the 10th floor the staff was terrific..were grateful....

Becki Kelly

My mental health professional and appointment was awesome. Only issue was in getting to the valet parking and out of there. That was awful!

Harris Cure

NO ROOM FOR COMPLAINTS JUST ROOM FOR (COMPLIMENTS ONLY) The medical field is a path that we all take for granted. The medical field is loaded with caring doctors and nurses out to save lives not destroy lives. Ophthalmology of VA thank you all so very much for my eye surgery. The is Mr. D. Johnson and Family. We are very Grateful for the outcome. VA Hospital is a medical field loaded with great caring in heart team of angels. Amen

Bethany Petty

Your system is broken!! The ER is a joke who has people sit 6+ hours to see a doctor! Y'all say y'all are short guess what most healthcare places are short..... get a better system!

I highly suggest only going here as a last resort. As a 10 year veteran it's sad to see that our selfless military veterans are being experimented on. When having surgery I really believe we should at least have real doctors and not residents aka students in training. My experience was the first and last. I had to have surgery on my small finger due to a flex tendon injury. The doctors during surgery was not sure what to do as he was asking the trainer. On one occasion the trainer actually told him to just leave it referring to either a nerve or tendon he was trying to figure out where to repair. The outcome almost 2 months after surgery is the finger next to my small pinky not being able to full open and now it's stuck in a L shape. The only finger that should be this hard to open is the small finger

Brenetta Brooks

An awesome group of professional health care providers specialized to provide exceptional care to those that have made the ultimate sacrifice to protect and defend our Country wholeheartedly

Place should be closed down, this country cares more about illegals, than its veterans!!

Atlanta VA Hospital: Too many veterans & not enough quality service! Bottom Line Upfront: I have lived in other VA regions and not all VA regions are as chaotic as Atlanta. There are simply more veterans in the Atlanta area than the region has the capability of handling. Pros: - Many competent specialists - (When they have time) They are good at diagnosing ailments. Note: These two pros are the ONLY reason I give ATL VA Hospital 2-stars (one for each pro) Cons: - Parking is inadequate at the hospital. Simply not enough parking to meet the demand for the facility throughout the day - Contacting the Atlanta VA Hospital to set up appointments is extremely difficult. Most of the time they don't answer the phones & don't call back when you leave a message - Initial appointments with a PCP (Primary Care Physician) for vets moving from one region to another can take months to get. If on meds that need refilling the vet has to go through the hassle of going to the VA Hospital emergency room - Phone system is bad. There are lots of times I call to set up an appointment. After going through the menus I'm put on wait hold. Finally after waiting anywhere from 5-10 minutes someone will pick up the phone and hang-up (you know it's deliberate since you can hear people talking in the background for an instant) or the system will simply hang up on it's own. - Pharmacy is: a. difficult to reach by phone (no other comms option) b. not very friendly on customer service c. difficult to get meds ahead of time when they are running out resulting in running out of meds before they refill the prescription (Note: In spite of my efforts to plan ahead and work with the system I still have times where I end up without meds for a week or more after they run out.) - Extremely Understaffed. Many of the docs I see don't even pull out a stethoscope since they just don't have the time (amazingly even my PCP doesn't but oddly enough my sleep doctor is the only one that breaks out the stethoscope). The reason for this is that they are required to see more veteran patients than they are able to handle in any given day. This is not fair to the physicians or the veterans. This becomes very evident if you have an appointment after 2 pm. You will get the 'bum's rush' out of the office (understandable after long day of seeing too many patients and not enough time to do the proper follow-up paperwork & required documentation). 3 pm appointments are basically "Hi, you feel ok? Well we'll get you out of here quickly". (after 3 pm It's a total joke) In the past year I get even fewer minutes with MY care providers (PCP & specialists). Most or all of the visit time is with a nurse intern or resident doctor (essentially new nurses or new docs getting experience while under supervision). Solutions: More frequent census needs to be done (at least every 5 years) due to rapidly changing demographics to determine where the concentrations of veterans are living in our country. It should be easy to use the established VA digital databases since vets are registered with particular VA regions and update them when they move. Congress then needs to allocate funding levels appropriate for the number of veterans in the VA system and the President needs to charge the VA Secretary with ensuring funds are distributed based on veteran population concentrations while providing appropriate service for veterans in isolated or rural areas. Congress needs to do better oversight of the VA to ensure needs are being met. This all sounds like it should be happening, but clearly it's not!

I have never treated so disrespectfully and with contempt as I have been at the Atlanta VAMC. It is like disabled veterans are an inconvenience to their social activities over patient care. The last so-called doctor I was scheduled to see was over a half an hour late even getting to the clinic. Then they acted like it was my fault. I am fed up with this facility!

April 2001 I came to Decatur, Ga from Louisiana to start a new life. Being that I am a Veteran I came to the VA Medical Center on Clairmont Road and I was told it would be almost a year before I could be seen to be signed on to a (Team). THERE IS A GOD and YOU CAN FIND THE LORD IN THE ENTIRE MEDICAL STAFF AT THE VA. An Emergency Room Doctor told me that I would be on a (Team) in less than a week AND I WAS. The VA Medical Center As A Whole DESERVED ALL 50/PLUS STARS THAT ARE IN THE AMERICAN FLAG. I have children, grand children and great grand children. I can't label all my children for what one child do wrong. The fact there is such a path as The VA Medical Center is enough to EARN THE RESPECT FROM ALL AMERICANS WORLDWIDE. I love coming to the VA. My family love bringing me and staying with me. We enjoy the GREAT CARE and Respect from all the Medical Field. (WHEN LOST) The VA Medical Center have workers in burgundy color jackets to guide you in the way you should go. (DISABLED) The VA MEDICAL CENTER have wheelchairs throughout the hospital. (HUNGRY) No problem. The VA MEDICAL CENTER HAVE A CAFETERIA. (WHATEVER YOUR NEEDS) Spiritual, Mental, Physical, Health Wise, A Shoulder To Lean, A Listen Ear: The VA MEDICAL CENTER IS THE PLACE TO BE. I am so Glad God Is Greater Than News Reporters because God Show The Positive Things and convict the heart to SHAPE UP concerning the negative things. The VA MEDICAL CENTER IS LOADED WITH MORE POSITIVE THINGS THAN THE NEGATIVE. But Drama is what the world thrive on. TO: The VA MEDICAL CENTERS WORLDWIDE FROM: A More Than Satisfied Veteran. GOD, BLESS THE VA MEDICAL CENTERS THROUGHOUT THIS WORLD. **********------------------------- **********-------------------------- **********-------------------------- **********-------------------------- ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ ------------------------------------------ GOD, BLESS THE VA MEDICAL CENTERS WORLDWIDE. May each VA MEDICAL CENTER THROUGHOUT THIS WORLD SEE THIS POST: Hold your head up high and be proud that your VA MEDICAL CENTER DOORS ARE YET OPEN FOR THE VETERANS and FOR THEIR LOVED ONES. Find it in your heart to FORGIVE NEWS REPORTERS THAT MAKE A LIVING OFF DRAMA. May this POST Awaken THE SPIRIT OF WHAT AMERICA HAVE LOST: FAITH IN GOD!!! BROTHERLY LOVE!!! UNITY!!! PEACE!!! RESPECT!!! News Reporters need to get a conscience and see the BIGGER PICTURE. (THE DOORS ARE OPEN 24/7 INCLUDING HOLIDAYS) Surely there is MUCH GOOD TO REPORT FOR ALL VA MEDICAL CENTERS. The negative I am sure is dealt with in a more WISER WAY THAN CONDEMNING THE WHOLE VA MEDICAL CENTER. (NEWS REPORTERS HAVE NOT SO CLEAN HANDS AT TIMES) But their OVERALL ROLL EARNS RESPECT FOR REPORTING NEWS. We all can use some shaping up in the negative areas of our life. Amen

I would give them a negative star if optional. 3 hrs on the phone today (6/7/19) (and still waiting) to be transferred to another department just to renew eligibility for an appointment. Cant wait to see how long it takes to actually schedule an appointment. This was only after the website would not let me schedule the appointment on line. It has been 10 years since I called the last time and now I know why I just go to my own doctor with my own insurance. update: spoke to eligibility and they apologized they couldn't help and instructed to call the general appointment line. well when they answered they said AGAIN my local clinic cant receive patients to call another number for the Marietta clinic. well 3 calls to that number and when they pick up the phone (after being on hold for 20-30 min each time) it disconnects. I guess I'm back to seeing my own doctor with my own insurance I will say everyone I have spoken to has been very polite and understanding but that's probably because I have laughed with them opposed to yelling at them about how stupid this is. 9/5/2019 finally got a person to answer the phone appointment in Marietta is set for 10/22/19 lol. This is just to see a primary care so they can refer me to another doctor. This to so long I called back to get a burial plot the lady said couldn’t do it until I died I laughed and said by the time they scheduled it I would be dead of old age. We both laughed !!!

morgan kennedy

If I could give a zero I would, I'm writing this as I'm here because a lady really rubbed me the wrong way. We have been here since 7 and are not leaving till who knows when. Which means for most of us who dont live right next door we had to wake up either two or three hours prior to being here to get ready and make the drive down. So tell me why I'm the surgery waiting room and the sign says no food but yet some lady comes over to rudely awake another lady and I. I'm not sure where she got that entitlement from. Her job is to answer the phone. Not tell people we cannot close our eyes. I could go on about all the other problems here at this facility because there are many.

It is so said to see customer service is just not important any more! First off, i am an employee at the VA but so dissatisfied as a veteran. I checked into my appt roughly 15 minutes early. After waiting for 15 minutes, I approached the front desk and asked the clerk if my status could be checked on. The clerk stated that appointments are running behind and asked if I was an employee because I was in scrubs. I said yes and she stated I should know that the VA runs late. She then asked for my last four in front of 3 others which is not only wrong according to directives, but just unprofessional. I told her that I would give to her at the desk and not in front of everyone. And that is when the attitude started and the atmosphere became an inconvenience to her. A couple was siting next to me who’s appointment was @ 1100. They went ahead of me, remember my appointment was at 1030. I don’t begrudge them being seen, but had not been triaged yet and still have not. It is 1143 and the couple who’s appointment was at 1100 have since gone home. When is enough, enough? When are unprofessionals of all stature going to be held accountable? Why are we so concerned about correcting unprofessional people who obviously do not care. This is sad. When are you going to do something about it VA?

RENEE ROBINSON

Dear Jesus Christ, My dad is yet alive because of you working through the medical staff at the V. A. Medical Center. My dad was in the V. A. Medical Center 4/weeks. Things were not in my dad's favor at all health wise. BUT GOD! The Spirit of God came through doctors that Prayed with us. Believed with us. Cried With Us. The V. A. Medical Center is a little piece of HEAVEN ON EARTH. Lord Jesus, Bless The V. A. Medical Center.

It took me a while to decide if I was going to do a review or maybe file a complaint. After reading the reviews I decided I need to post my review as well.I am very disappointed and offended. The overall vibe I got at this facility was not a good one. I am a veteran but I was here to support my uncle who was schedule for surgery. This post is not an indictment of the whole staff at this facility. However it was enough I experienced that gave me a negative vibe here. I have factored in that there is a furlough and I submit they are not being paid. Parking is rediculous. By 7:45 am spaces were nearly full. Ending up driving around a good 15 minutes before finding a space. Not including the designated customer service personel, some of the other staff had an air of being bothered when you asked a questions. I did see some very attentative staff asking people if they needed help or directions if a visitor appeared to be lost. While other times I felt some people did not want to be bothered. My uncle was schedule for surgery for 8:30 am. My mom and I got there at 7:45 am and was told his surgery is now 10:30 am. My uncle did get to surgery close to the schedule changed time of 10:30am. Here is where it got really frustrating and offensive. My mother and I are waiting in the waiting room for surgery and get a call saying my uncle doing well AFTER surgery and we can come up and see him shortly in recovery. We wait approximately 45min. Hear nothing. So we go to the clerk in the waiting area to get the status of my uncle and she tells me ' I told everyone earlier that you wont get to see patient until an 1 1/2 hr after surgery. I tell her no, I did not hear that because we were not present when you made that announcement. So, Mom and I go back to waiting. So, we get another call saying my uncle just GOT OUT of surgery and someone would be down to talk to us about my uncle. We are confused because they told us he was already out of surgery. So Mom and me go wait again. The surgeon shows up not too long afterwards. He briefs us and tells us that we can go up to see him in 30 minutes. So I added an additional 15 minutes to that. So an hour goes by and I ask the clerk again if she can check the status of my Uncle and she tells me in a condescending manner that she told everyone you cant go to the patient until 1 1/2 hrs after surgery. I tell her the doctor told us 30 minutes. So now I am very frustrated and just walk away'. Then she proceeds to call the surgery ward, and what do you know, they say yes they can come up! So, if I hadn't pressed the issue my Mom and me would have sat there for how long. It's approximately 2:45pm Mom and I got there at 7:45 am and left at about 4:00pm. I plan to go to the patient advocate or an office of that nation and tell my experience when I go back tomorrow. I saw a lot of caring people at this facility. A gentleman offered my mom a chair because he saw us waiting outside my uncles room waiting for his arrival from surgery. But I got a negative vibe overall from the staff at this facility.

JUNK MAIL

EXCELLENT & COMPASSIONATE care, once You are seen.

Vince G

There is nothing on this planet worse than the state of Veteran's Affairs in this country. It is ABYSMAL how Veterans are treated at this facility and by the whole system. Months to see a Dr.; months to get procedures done. Mountains of paperwork and red tape. HORRIBLE treatment by staff, especially this facility! Parking is a joke here. Cars are piled up everywhere there is room, and some where there is not. I wish people understood how bad it is. Over 8 hour waits in the ER!! The list goes on. I have spent thousands now going to real doctors and not dealing with the absolute MESS this is.

Esperanza 007

This place could do with an attitude adjustment and more respect for veterans. The doctors are usually late and sometimes doesn't show up and they fail to inform you wasting your time the parking here is awful over an hour just to find a spot people hit your car and keep driving without any remorse for their actions be prepared to wait for an entire day just to get things done . (Warning Go Else Were)

Makeisha Hinds

The Atlanta VA has made some great changes in creating an atmosphere of great customer service and a culture of positivity. The wait times have significantly decreased as well.

Heidi Senior

I am a Veteran. My first visit to this ER IS THE REASON I took 19 yrs to apply for medical benefits. The ER doctor was uncaring, impatient, and short. The ER staff nurses were bothered and annoyed. They were slow and forgot I was in the room. So digusted.

Qwest Tillmon

If I could give no stars I would. They really expect you to wait 4 to five months for an appointment. This is beyond ridiculous nd the government should be ashamed.

Taysia Brown

I understand they're understaffed but that is no excuse to be rude to veterans it's ridiculous. I would not suggest coming here at all if you're having an emergency. I ended up waiting 8 hours to have my procedure done.

Jennifer Hunt

I was with my husband at the va in the er he was in there for back pain and we had to wait 4 hours to be seen when there was no one there and then never gave him proper medical examination just said he was fine and give medications we were waiting to get discharge papers when I got up and asked the RN what was going she said rudely the doctor has not put them in yet go back to your room finely after 40 minutes a nurse came in and gave us discharge papers and then said your medications have pharmacy we went there and to wait other 2 hours to them I would not go to this VA it is the VA I have ever been to they do not care about there veterans at all

Shanda Smith

Rude staff, the workers who are here do not respect the veterans at all. We have been disrespected so many times in person and over the phone it's ridiculous!!!! We will be contacting someone and reporting. Like the other review said people on welfare get better service than the people who fought for your freedom!! Shame on this VA hospital!!!

Anthony West

This is the main VA hospital for Atlanta, GA. There is plenty of free and handicap parking. There is VIP for veterans with cars. They are adding floors onto the parking decks. The VA hospital staff is friendly and very helpful. The VA is working to improve the quality of treatment the VA provides Veterans.

Isha Harvey

Waiting for slow nurses, doctors, just for refills, they have no problem interacting with one another, watching TV on their phones, not conducting business, very slow, and I went for refill at, and its slow

Gus Miraglia

I know a lot of veterans are not happy with service, but that doesn't mean it's always like that. The entire hospital and system does the best they can with what is available. To do this consistently is a great accomplishment.

Jim Etheridge

I,m a vet and been going there since 79 and had several operations never any complaints.

Regina Simmons

Yes been on hold for 4 hours several times within the last two weeks I mean like three or four days finally got a hold of an Angelo Moore at extension 128038 and he told me that Community Care had to approve this and that would be Miss Natalie Davis who turned around and sent him an email when he sent it to her every response to him was it's on my list I'll get to it when I get to it how dare you treat veterans in this manner without them is Natalie Davis and Community Care you would not have a job Atlanta VA Medical Center. Then I'm told they hire TriWest to get their appointments faster except it still has to go through Community Care and she still three to eight months behind in her getting her stuff entered into the computer. Why are we wasting taxpayer money hiring TriWest when they can't do anything until Natalie Davis and Community Care gets her job done. Then they tell me if you tried to do this before January 31st when Tri West took over you probably have to go get another referral from your doctor because you know what Community Care chunked them in the trash.

We moved recently to the area and had to come here for enrollment and eligibility. We saw a doctor in the emergency room who explained things voluntarily, was warm and amazinginly helpful. My dad had a team of nurses that all had the same amazing warmth and incredible work ethic. I don’t know what all the negative reviews are about because this was one of the best hospital experiences for myself and my dad. Thanks to Nurse Tonya and Pricillia and a really tall big gentleman who’s name I did not get but he showed lovely southern hospitality and I thank you all!

The employees (non-medical) are the WORST in the Country. The Admin staff is RUDE. Many are very unprofessional. The Newnan VA clinic is by far the worst. It takes forever to get an appointment because the administrative side of the VA is super incompetent, lazy and extra slow. They also play favorites meaning that they do not treat everyone the same.

Worse part is parking..staff was polite and helpful.

AS OF THIS MOMENT I HAVE BEEN ON THE PHONE FOR 57 MINUTES WAITING TO SPEAK TO SOMEONE. HOW ABOUT AN APPROX WAIT TIME. IS IT POSSIBLE TO MAKE AN APPOINTMENT IN PERSON AT THE FACILITY. IT MAYBE BETTER THAN ELEVATING MY BP AND STRESS LEVEL WAITING FOR SOMEONE TO ANSWER THE PHONE. I UNDERSTAND THE LOW APPROVAL RATING.

This place is the arm pit of medical help. I do believe they try to treat you so poorly that you never return. Went to the ER for a prescription refill while I was waiting for a regular Doctor appt in middle July. Needed Blood pressure medication. Guess what my blood pressure was high, (shocker) After 6 hours. I left AMA because they would not listen to the patient. This location does not care about you at all!! I believe they would let a VET die before offering any kind of help. This place sucks!! Please privatize veterans health care....

For the most part the staff is pretty good, (one or two bad apples per department). Parking is on-site and have valet (no we don't have to pay) however oftenly they close the garage to catch up on parking the cars which makes us have to wait so it's best to arrive a hour prior to you appointment. If you have an emergency be prepared to be here for at least six hours.

Dont waste your time. Yo yo yo

This is the worst experience I’ve ever had at a VA. I think Atlanta should destroy this one and rebuild with a new staff. They move too slow..

David Ingram

Treated very well by the staff when getting tested for hearing. Everyone who assisted and tested me were most helpful, concerned and professional.

Awful! Wait times are ridiculous. Staff uncaring, just a job for them.

Robert Bowen

Entire staff should be fired and replaced bunch of clock watchers worthless every last one of them all of you people putting up 4 and 5 stars are liars and the reason this isn't getting fixed your not a veteran to lie and try to make people that are not taking care of your brothers and sisters in arms and just showing up and riding a clock for a paycheck

Freshley

I wish I could just speak with someone that can give me an appointment. I'm constantly on hold for 45+ minutes and when I do get transferred I'm on hold for another 5 minutes and then disconnected

Shawn J

No one answers the phone. Trying to make an appointment for 3 days.
