REVIEWS OF Lee Memorial Hospital IN Florida

Kurt Jaenicke

While traveling I spent the better part of the day at the Lee Memorial ER and got excellent care from Dr Laoang and his staff. The building is old and the ER VERY busy. Intake was fast and friendly. I was seen in the hallway as all rooms were full yet the experience was very professional. Lab work and CT scan on site. Nurse / Doctor super upbeat despite on going trauma patients being brought in a steady flow, including police and perps being seen while handcuffed to gurneys. Quick diagnosis and slightly longer discharge procedures had me on my way to pharmacy for meds. Urgent care would not have done for me and feel lucky to have landed in LMH for my unexpected and necessary trip to the doctor.

In an old hospital that looks like those in the 1960s or 1970s is an incredibly excellent staff that cares deeply for their patients and their families. While my husband was in rehabilitation from a stroke we were introduced to such wonderful comforting people who encouraged us through this new journey and always made sure we understood what they were doing and why. I only wish the facilities could measure up to the people who work there.

Nanette Smith

Our family has had many good experiences at Lee over the past 50 years, and none that were negative, even though some involved life-threatening conditions. Patients need ro remember that Lee is not tax-supported, as are many if not most "Municipal" hospitals, and i think we are fortunate go have the kind and caring professionals Ing

pamela zeimet

Had surgery to my back a few months ago and it was great at your hospital

Susan Patryk

This is the second time I had tests done and no follow up call from doctor.Just spend money on tests then forget about result the residency clinic department is a joke.

Debra Hampton

Big thumbs up for Lee Memorial Hospital I had a complaint about certain things and they called me back which I wasn’t expecting at all ! and they are taking care of the complaints And that’s wonderful! so between them caring about the people that come into the hospital and the people that come to have procedures done, Its says a lot about them, I know now they truly Care !!!! I give you all a definite five star thank you so much Debra

Cody Kennedy

The surgeons here saved my life. Thank you.

We've been here several times and have always been treated with respect, the medical staff is outstanding and the waits are kept as short as possible.

James English

Money was stolen not to mention my phones screen is shattered and they are not fixing it. My name is Ashley English.....

I tried to get a script filled at the hospital pharmacy after I had surgery but since I didn't have the surgery at any of the hospitals the pharmacist wouldn't fill it. So now I have to wait 7 days before I can get my medication from another pharmacy, the kicker is the hospital pharmacy has it already there. I am allergic to almost every pain med and it's hard to get a script filled. Love the that " they are caring people, caring for people ".

I came into this hospital emergency room with a severe allergic reaction. All of the staff was quick to react , very knowledgeable and happy to help with smiles!! I can tell the employees have a big heart. I recomend this hospital er to all!! It was by far THE BEST ER visit I have ever experianced.

Horrible hospital. Dirty rooms and the staff is rude and give little care to their patients. My mother came in with extreme pain due to kidney stones. After being put in a shared room where she was throwing up on herself and sat in her urine. I finally got up and went to get the nurse and she informed me that the cna would take care of it but when I asked when the doctor would come by she answered that she did not know and my mother would have to wait. When I asked if she knew anything about my mothers condition she responded that she was "not a doctor". My mother ended up with a fever and had to have a nephrostomy. I was informed that she would be moved to the ICU so that she could be better take care of due to there not being enough doctors

Dan noringer

This is the best hospital in southwest florida, and I know from experience!! Very professional, they don't hide behind HIPAA, but rather seek out patient family so they can participate in getting their relative the best care!! Bravo Lee Memorial Hospital

Liam Gutierrez

If you are in a hurry, be prepared to be very patient, especially if an older lady checks your ID very carefully with her reading glasses. Even if she checked your ID a thousand times, she will take an awful long time as if it were the first time. Update: Service improved, at least I had a positive experience during my visit.

Joseph Reed

This hospital is the definition of unprofessional! I come in for severe abdominal pain due to a gluten allergy and Dr.Walt was quick to mention that I am a drug addict and a liar.I work around the country and I have never seen a hard headed like this guy.Dr.walt needs to work on serious patient to doctor communication because piss poor is the level he is at.After our little discussion and him laughing in my face I decided to sign myself out of the hospital with the stomach pain.I suggest to the hospital director to seriously look into Dr.walt and see if he has gotten any other negative reviews ,I have a feeling it isn’t just me.

Susan Kinsinger

No return calls from anyone. Etiquette by medical personnel lacks any style. Basically just lazy.

Worst hospital in fort myers

Dawn Skinner

Hippa is completely ignored at the hospital. I was put up in a shared room with other patients for 8 days...My personal and medical information was discussed with other patients and patient visitors present. I was educated on the other patients medical and personal information by being present when theirs was discussed. I was very weak and dizzy so I was forced to use a bedside toilet with nothing but a curtain for privacy with other patients and visitors present. As a 35 year medical employee and traveling for work all over the US in hospitals, this is the worst I have ever been in.

joshua barros

I came into the hospital with a light concussion and in need of stitches on my face , the nurses in the er were so involved in personal gossip that it took over an hour and a half to stitch my face . I heard multiple nurses outside my room gossiping about why I was there , along with many other patients . After the first couple hours in the er I was transferred to a room . Other than it being dirty the hospital wasn’t bad after that . This still deserves a 1 star for how unbelievably disrespectful and uncaring the er staff is . I will never in my life come here again .

Randy Hunt

Everyone in the ICU is great!!! The beds are very uncomfortable that's the downside

Savannah Pittman

IF I COULD PUT ZERO STARS I WOULD !!! this place is absolutely terrible was standing there bleeding and in major pain and no one helped me until I said something about everyone sitting on there ass and playing on their phones. when someone finally helped me they took me to this area and I was there for two hours before someone even came in and asked me what was wrong. needless to say this hospital is the worst and DO NOT COME

Howard Brewer

This place is great!!!!!! I have been in 5 hospitals since 2015,its hard to put into words the way I feel nurses that talk to you not at you Dr.s that tell you what is going on and lisen to me.I am very happy with all of the staff, there is no better place in the whole state! No matter what you nead to have done go to Lee mem you will be glade you did! GOD BLESS EVERY ONE OF THEM!!!

Ted Ekberg

just had shoulder replaced and have no complaints

brandee deets

Lee Memorial is probably the worst hospital i have ever been to. My fiancé waited four hours to be seen when she was scheduled for an emergency surgery, then the nurses proceeded to push her surgery two more days away, because of them constantly changing her day of surgery she was forced to go the whole visit without eating or drinking anything because of their disorganization. The nurse staff on the 5th floor was awful, her face was as swollen as a softball and the day staff did nothing about it; they gave her her pain killers TWO HOURS after she was supposed to be given them, then she was given the wrong medicine at the wrong time. I will never recommend or go back to this hospital ever again, Healthpark is the way to go. Don’t waste your time here.

Jamie Skelley

Service bad and ULTRA lacking. Will never back. Left horribly. Stayed for an a will never go back. They are still from lack of work and /or effort not releasing me when I feel fine and have told them this current issue of concern is old news. They aren't trying to get this resolved. Got me feeling so sick while the physical issues have gotten better... They should give more attention to the poor reviews to improve. The owner only comments on the good ones and ignores the poor comments

Boy Not girl

I called the nurses because a young girl was having a heart attack 5 to 6 times no one came to help her while she almost passed out In front of the emergency room . I had to flip out for them to come rushing out . It truly made me sick . This hospital is a joke and I will never go there again !!!!! I would give this place 0 stars ..I wasn't even seen and left because I was so disgusted by this

Bobby Dimartino

This is the second time I've been admitted here first time I'm not going to talk about. This time is horrible they need better doctors in lee. memorial I'm spitting up blood alot of it and they discharging me , I fired the first doctor then they gave me the head doctor and she says idk why u spitting blood u need to go out patient to like Tampa general hospital or mayo clinic 4 to 5 hrs away and dont want to transfer as in patient IM SPITTING BLOOR WHERE IS THE NORMAL 7 DAYS OF SPITTINT BLOOD LIKE REALLY IM FILING A COMPLAINT

I was brought in for a broken hip. I am 63 years old and unfortuately have been to several hospitals for different issues. This is the WORST hospital I have ever been to. My emergency room wasn't a room at all. I was treated in the hallway along with other ER patients. The nurses were inattentive, hospital was dirty, and the surgeon who fixed my broken hip was incompetent. The surgery failed (his term not mine). However, it took them 2 weeks to figure out the surgery failed. In the meantime I am rehabbing a broken hip for two weeks 4x a day at Gulf Coast intensive therapy hospital and it wasn't even fixed! It is unbelievable the total incompetence. Once they figured out the surgery failed the surgeon actually scheduled another surgery for a total hip replacement before he EVEN spoke to us. We sought a second opinion and were told NOT under any circumstances to do a hip replacement. Our new surgeon had to remove everything and put in the correct materials. The new surgeon said the initial surgery was a marginal surgery utilizing old procedure methods and an undersized rod! So, two surgeries in two weeks. My new surgeon said he did the best he could considering my hip was compromised from the first surgery and instead of a 3 month typical recovery, mine would be 4-6 months. There are several hospitals in the area ANY of which HAVE to be a better choice than this one. Shame on this facility.

Bree Moore

Doesn't even deserve any stars. If you love your loved one this place will either kill them or make them worse all of lee health systems are about money not getting you better. Ruined my life my kids lifes their dirty and in 23 years living in this town they have never tried to get better.

Christian Byrd

Very professional and kind.

mark Gangnier

Dirty hospital Can't under stand how bad of condition this hospital in. All you need to do is deep cleaning. Painting

Tara H

Worst service ever! 3hr wait in ER for tooth ache. I would rather die then to be EVER come back. Rude ass ER doctor. Staff doing nothing but sitting around. This has GOT TO BE THE WORST HOSPITAL IN SWFL !!!!!

CITADEL5

My father was a patient at Lee Memorial Hosptal in their rehab section on several occasions and was always treated with both kindness and professioalism by the doctors and staff. My thanks to every one.

nidal shehahadeh

I have been to hospitals in South America which happened to be higher quality then this dump , my knee replacement in this facility was a nightmare out of hell .

Aloha Liz

The ER has been quick and efficient the couple of times I've been there. The majority of the staff are kind. Of all the hospitals in the area, I choose LMH for emergency services.

Scooter Tramp

I was impressed with the level of service even though the place was a madhouse.

M Kennedy

Hit or miss with Lee Health. Have had surgeries that have went well. But have a dear friend In a vegetable state due to negligence of staff. Never know how staff on duty will treat you, most lack bedside manner. Of all hospitals within Lee Health, this is the dirtiest of the bunch. Wish I could give it a better rating but, this isn't Health Park.

Margarita Lynn

On this day I have my brother who had brain surgery and then he had a blood cloc. The doctors and staff are doing their best to safe his life. Very professional and the family appreciate their job. I m asking God to give these doctors knowledge and help them to do their job and safe my brother life. Thank you to doctors and staff of 'Lee Memorial Hospital" for their kind and professionalism. I know that they are doing their best to safe his life.

Go to a hospital tht doesent practice malpractice right in front of you...example ...i was very cold the day i came here and also in and out of consciousness..my wife who was with me requested blankets ....when i received the blankets they all had a big deep bloodstain like a gunshot victim was holding his wound ....i ended up leaving without a diagnostic being to grossed out and sad tht tht happened and i didnot want to stay there a sec longer

Sandra Stanley

Calm hard working health care providers keeping an enormous amount of sick patients comfortable.

anna andres

It may be old, but the care is excellent.

Where to start??? Well, I had never been to any Lee Health location before and I can tell you I’m ALL DONE!!! I HAVE NEVER RECEIVED THIS AWFUL OF CARE!!!! I went to the emergency room and I was in a lot of pain in my chest which I thought could have been my heart, I was told my heart was fine with ONLY an EKG! Then they had me sit in the nasty, dirtiest, dark, scummy waiting room that I really could have used a flashlight to be able to see anything!! No magazines, nothing. They had a TV on with no sound and no caption!! Sweet, a little low budget. They stick an IV in draw blood do a urine sample and I’m back out into the dungeon waiting room again!! There was an elderly gentleman that I really felt bad for, he had fallen off a ladder and without X-rays or even being examined they made he keep the collar on and sit up from the stretcher in the regular waiting room!!! When I finally got into a room, many hours later I was hooked up to machines for no reason, the alarms kept going off and the nurse I had told me don’t worry about the alarms the machine is broken!??? HUH??? Then a male comes and throws a gown on the stretcher, stares at me like I’m a criminal and tells me to get undressed. Mind you he refused to close the curtain or the door, absolutely NO PRIVACY!! I payed there alone for quite some time, the nurse comes in and says I need IV fluids and Protonix and Reglan. Awhile later I’m told I need an ultrasound of my gallbladder. Fine. The PA which was not too bright say you have sludge in your gallbladder and it needs to be removed so you need to go to your primary care Dr and get a referral to a surgeon. The nurse comes back in after I unhooked myself from everything but the IV and rips out the IV, and blood leaks down my arm all over my shirt because she couldn’t even have a piece of gauze to cover the area when removing the IV like it’s supposed to be done!!! I see a primary care, doesn’t ask for any history or family history and tells me a surgeon will call me. Now they want me to have a consult with a surgeon next week when I can barely stand the pain in my chest and through to my back!!! Constant nausea and vomiting, sweating, chills but it’s ok because I don’t have deep pockets & im not a Q-Tip so apparently I can be pushed to the side until all the Q-Tips go back up north. I’m getting very physically sick and not one person cares. Even a medical assistant had the nerve to say to me that she didn’t believe that I was going through this and the emergency room told me to go to a primary. She said they would have done the surgery if there was an issue. What kind of idiots do they have here??? Where have they received their licenses to practice medicine??? So ya, still in constant pain and suffering as this place plays plays with ppls health & lives & cater to the Q-Tips!!! PATHETIC

Jenny

My surgery went well and everyone there was so nice and helpful. Dr. Lin is an amazing surgeon, and I can finally walk without pain. Thank you times a million.

Lori Manges

My daughter was in the ICU for 8 days. I can’t say enough kind words to the Doctor’s, Respiratory Therapist and most of all the Nurses and CNA’s. Every nurse that looked at my daughter treated her as if she was their daughter. Without the nurses and staff and Lee Memorial, I would be without my little girl today. Thank you many times over.

I left Lee Memorial after coughing in Tennessee for almost two months and having visited my local doctor and two at Vanderbilt University Medical Center for cardiac care. The latter recommended a high-resolution CT scan as soon as I returned to Knoxville after a vacation to south Florida. During a few days in Bonita Springs and Cape Coral my cough became unbearable and breathing was difficult on Saturday, December 26th my wife and I went to Lee Memorial, which was the best decision I could have made. We were quickly checked in, examined, and received a CT scan that revealed pneumonia in three lobes in two lungs. I was immediately put on IV antibiotics and saline solution which continued over four days, along with breathing treatments every four hours and consultation with two doctors every day. through all procedures we never waited in a waiting room and the staff operated as a flawless machine, efficient, courteous, and extremely responsive. I have been a patient in many hospitals in my life, more frequently as I grow older, and my wife and I marvel over our good fortune in choosing Lee General Hospital. All thanks go to Dr. Santiago Pena Baez, his superb staff, nurses Jason, Krista, Nikysha, Colleen, and the rest. Anyone who criticizes this hospital might go to the shiny marble panelled-glass palaces of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville Medical Center and see what an all-for-show bunch of self-important but incompetent scoundrels can do to make a hospital into hell. Thank heaven we found Lee Memorial when we did. My wife and I know good health care when we see it and Lee Memorial Hospital gave us the best service that we have ever had. We now can plan trips to South Florida confident that great medical care will be available. We are very grateful!

Love it... worked there n been a patient there. They r really kind. Keep it up..

My husband had a serious car accident i have had some good nurses and some really bad ones. I find that i am extremly appalled at the lack of conpassion. I am not from here and i live in Cincinnati. I have spoken to both the nursing superviser and the guest services representative it will change for a day and then nothing. I have never heard of a hospital where you have to chase down the dr. I also have never been so disrespected in my entire life. They have not listened to my concerns they have not been in contact with my husbands cardiologists they scheduled a surgery at 5 pm he was able to return to his room until after 9 pm I believe that it was the charge nurse who informed me before she got in settled on that " you cant stay" I informed her that i was not from here and had to get a ride she didnt seem to care so I sat outside the front entrance of the hospital waiting for a ride... for over 40 minutes I do not trust that this facility has me or my husbands best interest at heart.

Sara Liming

The personnel were friendly. They got me right in. I wasn't there very long in the ER. I just didn't like talking to Dr in hallway in a gown. Guess they were out of rooms. It needed floor cleaning. It was still a good visit. They Very nice and professional.

This hospital system used to be a fine institution where employees could thrive and work a long, prosperous career in an environment that only a non profit could operate; however, due to a change in management's paradigm, they have stopped emphasizing a customer/employee based strategy to focus on a growth/profit one. It may not be as visible from the outside, unless you see all the construction projects around town, but is very evident on the inside. My family has worked for this institution for twenty-two years and it has never been more sorrowful to go to work and see how far the system has fallen. Those who have been here for years long for the old days of the original tenor of Jim Nathan, but alas those days are gone with the evolution of heath care. Maybe they are only a victim of circumstance inflicted by a past Republican Governor who did not enroll Florida in the Medicaid expansion, but still, a once great giant is now but only a shell of what it once was and what it represented to our community. Growth has a cost, sometimes in immeasurable human capital not just in dollars spent.

Amber Piper

Not even a 1 stare! I came in because of possible heart attack and or stroke and they left me in the waiting room treating me as is I was only in there with the flew. I kept telling them my arm is going numb and pain in my left side of neck and left side of chest and nothing! I am from the state Missouri and this is by far the dirtiest and bad staffed hospital I have ever been to!

Cheyenne Snyder

They are always rude to me and dont like it when a guy gives his woman a pop kiss cause he goes outside they just medicate there pasitions and then say ur ok

An Artist & A Kitchen

Between Two Hearts- I went in for my bariatric care (Dr. Ramlogon aka "The Husky Champion!"). The entire medical team taking care of me, was kind and empathetically professional (I fell in love with Lana). From admissions to discharge, I was in tune with the genuine ambiance given and received by those involved with my care needs. I am a low maintenance individual, perhaps to prideful for my own good but wisely humbled. The edict was politely reciprocated throughout my entire visit and experience here. Prior to my admission, I was already acclimated to the logistical process needed to receiving a major surgery. Two months earlier, I underwent a total hip replacement. My advice to anyone receiving any kind of medical attention, ask as many questions as possible, learn through your entire experience — it will be to your advantage. The facility was currently experiencing a flooring renovation on its base floor and I was not bothered by it. All of my equipment used for monitoring my vitals were without a beat! Again, my entire diverse medical staff were A game professionals. You do have the right to refused pain and muscle relaxers, which I did. And walk as much as you can after any surgery if possible. Push yourself!

Valerie Day

You should be able to leave a negative star rating! Do not go here!! They refuse to bill your health insurance that you spend thousands of dollars a year for so that they can file a lien with the county so that they "can get paid more" than health would pay!! It's unethical and morally wrong. They are punishing patients that have insurance for the ones that do not, of which they get a tax credit for. They need to be audited and sued!

james lima

Went to complex care.wound care from 12/23 to 2/5 nurse's and staff were excellent

Miyu Seirina

Given a female urinal, the shape of the opening making my urine fall onto the bed sheets. Was not given any wipes, so can't use the bathroom. It takes forever for anyone to answer the call light, then when they do nobody does anything about the problem. Would not recommend.

Ray Bezares

First off when you are in a room, the nurse or dr doesn't know or care if you have insurance. Your needs are always first. Just remember, each nurse carrys a workload of 6 patients. If they are all whiney or in pain then the nurse has to appease them all. They do a very good job of it also. Nurses have lives too, so they may be going through something personal, so cut them some slack. They also dont get to eat lunch or go to the bathroom until all the meds are given out and their patients are set.

Louann Lord

Horrible experience. We were visitors when I choose this hospital due to our poximetry and my husband having symptoms of a heart attack. The ER was dirty and lined with very ill individuals waiting forever for someone to treat them. Even with increasing symptoms of a heart attack we waited more than 2 hours to see a physician. Once in the dirty ER many incidents of way less than sterile techniques observered, let alone HIPPA is not observed here. With hallways lined with very ill people and overcrowded rooms. Anyone could here anyone else's conversations! Dr Vinny was a great Dr. But working in the resemblance of a mash unit was very difficult. We spent 12 hrs in ER before getting a hospital room. Then of course no HIPPA observed and we knew the other pt. has an infection of unknown origin, while my husband has infection of ecoli, heart attack with gallbladder problems. We spent 4 days inpatient at the hospital with 4 Drs delivering care. One was extremely rude to our Nurse and then to me. When confronted the next day he denied it at first and said sorry when he left! This was Dr. Geliss. Being from out of state I was trying to clarify if my very ill husband needed to do a test that we would be unable to treat there due to his significant heart problem history. Dr Geliss refused to discuss this with me! The cardiac Drs refused to get my husbands heart medical record from IL. until the NP came by. Once I explained this she facilitated a Dr to Dr call witch was very necessary early on in treatment. The nurses on all shifts were excelent! I read several comments and the reply from the hospital always tell everyone to call the number they provide to manage their complaints. Well I CALLED THE NUMBER THIS WEDNESDAY AND GUESS WHAT......NO ONE HAS CALLED ME AND IT IS NOW FRIDAY NIGHT!!!!! I have been a health provider for > 30 years as a Nurse, manger of a unit, planned programs, and taught nursing for 12 yrs. and I have never had such terrible care for my husband from these Drs. As I said the Nusing staff was excelent! I would never take a loved one to this hospital!!

Ileyah Martinez

The nurses and doctors from lee memorial are amazing have great bed side manners and respect , unlike Melissa from medical records who was very rude as I asked her nicely to help me retrieve my info, didn’t need the attitude mam.

John Lewis

My mom came in Sunday with BP problem which was resolved. Here it is Wednesday and she's still in! The inefficiency of lab reports and communications between staff is overwhelming. Avoid this hospital if you can. However, Dr. Bruah was great -- spent time, informative, compassionate and professional.

I was admitted here June 28, 2019. Since I have been here, I have been treated like 2nd rate trash and ostracized by the staff for my anxiety. I was in room 5121B. The nurse Ashly, that worked during the day on 6/30/2019, with charge nurse John, kept throwing my anxiety in my face and refused to give me my anxiety medication because I fell asleep heavily. The night before I was given dialysis. I am a victim of polycystic kidney disease that caused me to be put on dialysis in 2015 and lose my kidneys in 2016. In 2017, I coded twice. It is hard for me to keep energy, especially the day after dialysis. So, I was given IV pain meds to help with the pain, already tired, I fell into a deep sleep and slept through my phone alarm, I forgot to turn off. Because of that they refused to give me my anxiety medication and added to my anxiety by berating me and telling me I wasn't allowed to sleep heavy. Now, I can't get out of here fast enough. The nurses were John and Ashly. My doctor at Lee Memorial was Carolina Febrez Alizo, M.D.. Thank you, Shonna Stehens

Mary Jo Lobrutto

I brought my friend here, who is visiting from Buffalo. We need to remove a leaking PICC LINE. My friend is going through CHEMO, so basically has a very compromised immune system. Last place we should be, I know!! They have admitted 400 people this week with the flu. I have pleaded with them to expedite her process, as the flu could possibly kill her. Here we sit 2.5 hrs later, not registered and not in a room. Asked for the nurse manager approximately 1 hr 45 minutes ago, still have not seen the manager. Disgusted!!!

Lynn Ellison II

I was transferred from the e.r. where I slept over night for a bad infection an to get a screw removed from my ankle that unscrewed its self an poked out the skin. Now I'm in e.r. over flow area an there not giving me the medication that the female doctor I seen last night in the e.r. ordered for pain, an antibiotics one of the antibiotics I had a allergic reaction where I wanted to RIP my scalp off, an none of these notes are in the computer nurse susan said. The new nurse susan with 45 years of being an RN is rude an i would like a new nurse an to see a doctor to help me please. This is bs never had this happen at lee memorial hospital.

Elisabet Stadelman

My friend was hospitalized there. Was one mistake after other. She left the hospital trying to protect her integrity. The doctor agree

Alain Lamartiniere

My experience at Lee Memorial Hospital convinced me of the total lack of ethic of the medical system. I want to share my experience with the hope that it could help somebody else. I was referred to a Physical Therapist at LMH by a surgeon, appointment was set for the following week. Not an emergency, a simple visit in a small room. The doctor looked at my MRI with the full diagnostic already there. Doesn't examine me, suggest that I take magnesium and refer me to another Physician in the same network. Billing... $371 for the doc visit + $429 for the facility. Obviously obtaining informations about my billing and the different code used is a painful road, each one referring me to the other one. The most surprising is that my insurance Florida blue doesn't find anything abusing about it finding me even annoying for contesting it. The surgeon office who referred me doesn't see any problem sending me to this trap. The Hospital is too happy to send me a bill of $429 based on their definition of outpatient that doesn't match the one from my insurance. And the physician office bill me under a high level code (level 3 of 4 for doing basically nothing other that referring me to another physician) that until now then they refused to describe to me. I am totally astonished by the reaction of the 10 or 15 people I talked to that have no issue about a $800 farce visit. Basically they tell me that I should have known about everything. Price are not visible but I should know that I will be hit by a $429 facility bill. And why would Florida Blue care about it, they just have to raise the premium. I am naive I know, it is normal practice at Lee Memorial Hospital.

NowhereStarr14

This is the absolute worst waiting experience ever in the ER. Why call patients in just to make them sign something then go back to the waiting room, like 3-4 times! My girlfriend was about to pass out, and workers told us to hold on as they would get someone to help her, and no one came. My girlfriends mother called the ER and said they've been watching her and took blood tests; BOTH WERE LIES!!! They tried to do an IV but they failed to find a vain, gave up, and told us to go back and wait some more. It has passed the 5 hour mark and still no sign of being next. My girlfriend is in extreme pain, needs attention right now, but the staff keeps brushing us off. We asked for pain MEDS but, again, ignore us. We are never coming back. Also, your bullshit copy-and-paste "oh, we're sorry" apologizes don't cut it either. Don't even bother putting it on this one.

Pedro Ayala

WORST EVER BEEN SHUFFLED AROUND FROM ONE HOSPITAL TO ANOTHER MEANWHILE I'M IN NEED OF ANTIBIOTICS BEEN WAITING 5 HOURS FOR IV 12 HOURS IN ER .NOW THEY WANT TO SEND ME BACK TO XAPE GTFOH UNBELIEVABLE WHY IS THIS HOSPITAL STILL HERE

Brandon Arceneaux

Currently awaiting my release, 2 days past due, because the Infectious Disease doctor doesn't want to show up and give the okay for me to be released on oral antibiotics. So I'm spending a fortune being stuck in here, when I shouldn't, because of someone else's incompetence.

Florida Law

Their billing practices are completely unfair to the patients. Regardless if there is available health insurance or not, they REFUSE to bill it if it was a motor vehicle accident, even after the auto has paid their share. They would rather place a lien on someone than do the right thing.

Barbara Mateo

I was worried about the hospital reviews but I can’t complain...my experience was excellent starting with the registration process and how every person I had to deal with was very professional and kind. They made my experience a good one. I appreciated deeply because it’s always a concern anything related with your healthcare.

Had rotator cuff surgery there yesterday. The pre op staff was great. Very informative. The post op staff also did an excellent job. Considering my anxiety facing surgery, the staff made it so much easier to deal with.

I loved this hospital they work fast to find the problem and give you the care you need. I when in June 2013 and they did everything they could to find my problem, I had a brain tumor, not one had find it before. I was one night at the hospital, and send home to monitor the tumor for 6 month, that the end of the six month they called me to do a followup MRI and the tumor had moved 1/2 of center-miter, it was getting to close to an area in the brain that it not operable. They did the operation on January, and thanks God and my Dr. Valet everything when well. I will be back to work after a moth./ The nurses and all staff where excellent, I have nothing bad to say about this hospital./ Thanks God for all the people that work there.

teresa taylor

They are very unprofessional.

Maryanne Salera

I don’t know why all the negative reviews from the time I got there till I left it was a very positive experience. Great attitudes and friendly staff maybe it’s the patients have the problem I saw nothing wrong with anything everyone was polite and professional

Someone From Somewhere

My wife was there to dilver our first. The staff was extreamly helpful and knowledgeable. The receptionist was less so. She told us induction would be at 8p.m. with delivery at 4:15 am. Which I thought was oddly precise. We were not told, by anyone, that induced labor can take up to (but very rarely) 5 days. Cirvadil was administered a little after 8p.m., with the oxytoicn starting at 7 a.m. Nothing happened at 4:15 am. We altered our sleep schedule to be awake then, only to be told we need to sleep as much as we can. Luckily it was pretty fast, she gave birth at 2.p.m. sharp. We were there 3 nights total, which again no one told us. And they assume the father won't be there. So I had to push to uneven, one wooden chairs, together to sleep. I have neck is issues that lead to vomiting is the pain oxceeds an 8 and oscillates. So by the end I was dry heaving and In extreme pain for about 15 hours. A cot would have been fine, but there was nothing. Lastly, she's a diabetic and though the delivery floor has many low/no sugar options, the recovery floor had none. Which was weird.

My husband nurse Jessica K from the Neurological floor 4 was so Nice and Patient. She gave him the best care .

Sara Fair

My family could not have been taken care of any better. The 6th floor team was amazing. We will be forever grateful for all that you did for our family!

Lisa Delgiudice

Warning do not take your loved one here!

Poor communication to clients and between departments. With recent financial controversy and doctors at the middle of it (google it) would recommend driving to Tampa or Miami for your doctors. Hoping they get bought out by an accountable and sustaining larger health system.

I went to the ER for treatment of chemical burns. Even though there did not appear to be many patients in front of me, it took almost 2 hours before I was taken back to be treated. The staff in the ER rates 5 stars but the overall experience was sad. The poor staff had to scramble in order to find bandages, burn cream and tape. In the end they resorted to using sample packets of ointment to apply to my burns. I made several derogatory statements about the administration and what a sad state of affairs it is that not even basic medical supplies are available in the ER. I got nods of affirmation. I was prescribed some medication but told that the hospital pharmacy closed at 6PM. By the time the glacially slow discharge procedure was complete, it was almost 9 PM and I was unable to get to a nearby pharmacy that was still open. We eventually had to drive to the far side of Lehigh Acres to find a pharmacy that was open. I tried to speak to someone by phone about my experience but kept getting routed around the system and passed off to "someone who can help" after about an hour, I gave up. Again I want to emphasize that the ER doctors, nurses and assistants are all top notch but they are handicapped by an incompetent staff that only seems to care about making as much money as possible. I have lived all over the world and have had treatment in several hospitals But none of them displayed the incompetence that Lee Memorial has demonstrated to me over the past few years. This is not a place I want to grow old in so I am voting with my feet and getting out of this state ADMINISTRATION.......piss and moan all you want about only getting a 2 star rating but remember, you only got that high of a mark because of the ER staff. If it was up to me I'd give you about a NEGATIVE 1.

Actually found a parking space! Very helpful Reception: expect to show your picture ID, e.g. license, and have your picture taken for an ID badge before you pass the many security checkpoints. Hospital is clean and well-lit. After Reception, you'll then pass to Registration and they'll direct you where you need to be. Good luck. If helpful, please hit the Thumbs-up button below. Thanks.

MiMi and Casey the RNs on the 4th floor west wing. Very professional and took excellent care. Good people!!

This hospital saved my Son n Law's life Kyle Lawrence, he had a brain surgery quickly after a boating accident. this made all the difference in his future. 2 weeks later he is expected to fully recover! Thank you doctors, staff and anyone who helped!

Mary Shoup

Only hospital that has told me the truth about my medical problems.. ER doctor was excellent right along with pulmonologists and staff... Thank you Lee Memorial.......

Samantha Mccarthy

There is a lady there she is one of the nurses she is beyond rude and disrespectful to the patient and there visitors for no reason when you ask her what the problem is she calls security to avoid her getting in any trouble which is fine but there is no need to be rude to the visitors nor the patients either i have no idea where she worked before but in a hospital you are there to help not be rude nor disrespectful what so ever it is uncalled for and very unprofessional as well... I am reporting her and made it clear to her so she turned around and went to get in my face I backed up and asked her to move and she called security on me when I didnt do anything wrong. So please be advise this lady is beyond rude to everyone and she shouldn't be working at a hospital if that is how she plans on treating patients and visitors.. I wasnt able to get her name cause when I began to write it done she flipped it over when I asked her for her she made sure security talked to me but refused to give me her name which is ok I will still get it and will be reporting her I seen her be rude and disrespectful and unprofessional to other patients and visitors and told the doctor himself

aaron hutchinson

The people at Lee Memorial were some of the nicest and caring people i could have had the pleasure of being cared with. I went in for a possible heart attack and they did everything above and beyond to calm me down and help me pull thru. I will go no where else but Lee Memorial!!

SAVED BY GRACE

My mom had a total hysterectomy due to uterus cancer. We stood at your hospital on 7/21 and 7/22. I have to say I was very impressed by the care given to my mother. When this hospital was chosen, I was asked why we didn't do the bigger hospital, But apparently God knew better then us. The staff were absolutely incredible, caring, professional caretakers. The doctor we dealt with was very good, and caring towards my mom and our family. It meant allot to our family, especially having to deal with such a scary situation. You guys gave us peace of mind and loving service. Thank you for your exceptional care .. We would recommend this hospital and staff group to anyone needing excellent care: Doctor: Dr. Abut Shahin PA: Denyse Mahoney Nurses: Jennifer J * Kristie L * Marleen H * Kelly N CNA: Phelisa M. * Louise S.

I did two travel assignments with this company found the floors to lack organization. Had very little reguard for nursing . I was a patient 4 times for hips. First time left siaked in my urine because no one helped me to to walk to the bathroom post op hip surgery. My son had taken my clothes home.transfered in my urine soakeded clithes.home transport came. Took me out wrapped in pads we passed the nurse in the hall standing at a cart. The second hip the aide was dragging me by the arm trying to hurry me. I had a block in my right hip and was trying to comply asked her to wait a minute i feel knocking my self out as my head hit the floor. Last thing before hitting the floor was the aide running out saying ih my god. Afterward i woke up to seeing several people standing around me yelling my name and person yelling can you see while waving his hand in front of my face and said shes ok and left. I was assisted back to bed and fischatged the next day. No xrays were take. My son sat at gulf coast for 6 hours in pain passing kidney stones. I could find a staff person in er to help him to the bathroom. I found a urinal and escorting him to bathroom. Bloody urinal handed to a passing staff. An iv was started and blood was ddrawn with a promise for pain medication. No medication cardiac alarm sounded numerous times nurse ask was this common i responded no he help up 9/10 fingers to indicated pain level i alerted the nurse since he is non verbal. After passing the stones the doc appeared. I told her hes been here 6 hours without any pain medications. She turned and asked him if he was in pain he said no. She turned to me and said he usnt in pain. It kept me all my composure to keep from knocking her head off. Such low level of care should never occur. Especially since i am a nurse of high caliber. I would never go to a lee facility even a doctor affiliated

Maritza Lahodik

Currently at this hospital after my husband was attacked by an alligator and has a badly injured arm. Worst hospital I've ever experienced in my life. Living hell, I can't wait to get him transferred to a decent facility with proper care and bedside manners. I'm living a nightmare and the hospital is a big part of it.

Manuel A

Been hear over an hour and a half with my 3 year old son..he sliced his finger i HALF and it was rapped and were placed in a witing room while people come in and out befor and after us.. Not cool..There is room for much improvement..

James Alty

This hospital is the worst hospital ever. I was in so much pain it’s like they didn’t care, and they put me in a room with 4 other patients. I will never in my life go back to that zoo called a hospital everyone in there sucks as a nurse. They need to go back to school

Ms. Laylor

My experience on 6/23/2019 with this hospital was on unbelievable, sickening, careless unforgivable and very pain full. I was 14 weeks and 2 days pregnant when I got to the hospital. I was in so much pain. They give me a ultrasound an told me everything was fine. They didnt do anything at all to help. The lady told me they cant do anything for me and I need to leave because they need the room and bed. I ask her for something for the pain, please please please Can I get some Tylenol please. She give me the pill and a bottle of water then tell me to go. I was crying and begging over and over please do not send me out the hospital in this condition please give 20min or even 10min so the pain could slow down. They didnt care They kick me out the hospital I couldn't walk 2min later a had my daughter in the parking lot next to my car. My baby drop out on the floor. I had to walk back inside bleeding every where blood dropping from my car all the way into the hospital to the bathroom I had my death daughter in my hands. They had the nerve to ask me what happened like they dont see. I lost so much blood. My blood pressure drop so low. I could've die on the bed. They had to send me to a different hospital where I end up getting Dnc and 2 bags of blood transfusions. This was heart less. My experience is something I'll never forget and the image in my head will never go away. The ER was a place I should've been safe n they should've handle this situation better. I'll not wish this on nobody. I had insurance.

Evelyn Kennedy

The only positive experience from this hospital was my dad’s surgeon. Dr. Bloomston was awesome! However that is where the positive ends. The waiting rooms leave a lot to be desired. The nurses and hospital security is very rude on the icu floors. The icu nurses on the 8 th floor let my father sit in pain for hours after surgery and when we asked why it was he was in so much pain, they said he had pain medication at his fingertips via a pump. There was only one issue with this. They had his hands bandages up in mits so the pump was doing him no good. His nurses did not appear to realize this until we pointed it out. Visiting my father has become a nightmare as the nurses make you wait for several minutes to a half hour outside the icu doors before they either notice you or they decide they feel like letting you in. Today is Christmas but they make no exceptions for the patients and their families to the new rule that no one but them seem to be aware of. They won’t let anyone in to see him now because the nurses told my sister that between 6:30-7:30 it’s their shift change (No where is this posted). They have turned 3 family members away after they waited 30 minutes to get in before they told them their rule (they were here at 6pm). Visiting hours are from 8am-2pm and 2pm-8pm as posted on the walls outside the of the icu entrance (note that quiet time is from 2pm- 4 pm as posted every where throughout the hospital.

I just received a call from a collection agency that lee memorial uses. They told me lee has turned me over to them for collection for an unpaid bill of $83.00 for visiting emergency room back in march 2017. My wife and I are snow birds from Michigan. They billed Medicare and blue cross. My balance remaining was the $83.00 which I never received a bill for from lee memorial. I called the lee billing and was told they send t out a bill to my Florida home. I never received there bill. They sent out 3 more bills to my Michigan address, but sent them to the wrong street name. So they just turned me over to collection. I ask billing why didn't you call me, you have my cell number. She told me they are too busy to make calls. I said you would rather ruine my credit over 83.00 my wife and I will never use Lee Memorial again.

Yvette Merrick

Uncaring and indifferent. They have a monopoly No others to choose from. This is for Lee health park hospital.

Sweet Home Alabama

All the hospitals in Fort Myers are the same. What you are experiencing is socialized healthcare system. Many lives are lost or damaged unless you are from another country. Americans are no longer getting proper health care.

Christopher Sandford

Doctor or or looked at bug bites in one area for 45 seconds and didn't listen or care that i was worried it was spreading.... Horrible hospital and do not care if you're upset/concerned. WORST Hospital ever!!!!!##

Linda Craven

I was admitted the morning of the huricane. I have never been to a hospital here in Fort Myers. I received the best care from the nurses, and Drs. Very hard working staff. The A team during the storm was top notch. Stayed long enough to be taken care of by B team also. My nurses on the 7th floor were awesome. Thanks to Amanda my nurse who went beyond caring. 7216 will always remember the good care.

ronald Spense

awful health system. doctors and nurses completely burned out and voicing frustration with administration. seems like they are just throwing more and more burdens on already over-regulated system. sad. didn't used to be like this. last two years have gone way down hill.

Popeye Gordon

My experience with Lee Health is limited to seeing their official Youtube channel where they have posted a scathing dishonest insult to the integrity of our honest hard working farmers and crop scientists by denying the proven safety of GMO foods in their video titled "The truth about GMO's" release date May 11 2019. Any health care organization expressing the extreme anti-science views expressed in such an ignorant video is no place I'd want to go for care. I'd rather die.

Lisa Walls

Our experience here at ICU was TERRIBLE. Only two people out of the many we have dealt with showed compassion.... and one of the two was the doctor who gave us completely WRONG information and then never came back in to talk with us about other options. I'm very disappointed in the treatment of my grandfather.

Sharonda Parry

My mom is currently in this hospital, she was transferred from Gulf Coast. The medical care, treatment, and experience is horrible. They are treating my mother horribly. She is unable to speak right now or even move. The reviews about the staff being mean is absolutely correct. If you or a loved one have been admitted here...RUN!

angie bailey

A smile wouldn't hurt esp when a sick child is infront of you! I get work sometimes isn't the best but if your going look act miserable take your ass home and stare at walls! Adults/children come in sick in different ways feeling miserable last thing they want is to see your depressed looking face! And that's just the front check in! GET BETTER STAFF!

Kerri Nimick

Rude nurses, they drop thungs on floor and reuse them and my bed had bloood on it

Trina Seligman

I would love to give this hospital "0" stars but that is not an option on google. I am a physician and received such horrible treatment at this ER. I would urge you to go to pretty much any other hospital. Of course I complained about my bill since they provided ZERO care (I left AMA when they suggested numerous unnecessary tests) and have had nothing but grief with their financial dept. Finally I underwent a review and paid my reduced bill and they STILL were so incompetent they sent me to collections, so now I have to deal with that.

Alea Wiles

8 1/2 hours for antibiotics for a severe UTI was given no pain medication until hour 7. Got there at 3:30am and left at Noon. Doctors and nurses were more interested in ending there shifts then helping me.

Arena Mitre

UPDATE: so after about an hour long wait, the finally saw my father and moved him to a different area where we still had to wait for his wound to be clean, he asked for a blanket and pain medication but had to wait forever for it. After that we moved to another room where after we asked a bunch of times they checked his blood pressure which was 212/83 and they wouldn't give him anything! Then because I kept asking for his medication I got thrown out of the room!! The nurse Lynn kicked me out then my mother who doesn't speak English! Then yelled at my dad who had high pressure problems at the moment! Place is horrible nurse Lynn is horrible and does not care! If she is checking you, ask for another nurse! I expected better from an emergency room. This is the worst E.R. I've ever been to! My dad cut off a part of his finger, unstoppable bleeding, and he still had to wait after at least 10 people who in my opinion looked fine! It is disgusting, nasty and the people is way too rude! Laughing and making jokes about my father! He is 65 years old and could've passed out from the bleeding but he still had to wait! The waiting room is so small and smells like wet dog!

Martinendia Voltaire

This is the WORST hospital I’ve ever came across. First of all EVERYBODY attended to their drama and too busy gossiping with each other other than ASSISTING the patients that are IN PAIN and needing assistance... Nurses were NO WHERE to be found, I am pregnant and was bleeding heavily freaking out and the last thing I wanted to do was watch nurses carrying on with conversations and too busy caring about their shift changes then assisting me at some point I had to leave and go to another hospital because they can go as far as killing me with the lack of attention . And when I went to tell the concierge person that I was leaving she said “go talk to the nurse” “WELL... WHERE IS THE NURSE TO TALK TO?” Now I am just waiting to see if they’ll do anything stupid as far as CHARGING me for a care I said I NO LONGER WANTED AND NO ONE WOULD CARE TO ASSIST ME WITH! This hospital can and WILL kill you! Stay AWAY!

Lisa Romero

Rude staff my daughter and i went there this morning because we was in a car wreck and they didn't want to treat us. The staff said we was ok and they didn't even say hello nothing

Virginia Bechtel

I had a severe car accident.and had multiple fractures was seen right away and put in ICU. FFor 2 days after that was transferred to Trauma floor were I had Surgery for a tibia and fibula Contrast factures on left leg also ribs. And right ilac wing. So after the surgery I was unable to walk to the restroom and all the staff on day shift were great and so we're all my doctors and night it was like a play ground with the nurses and if you needed to go to the restroom you had to wait but sometimes they wouldn't come in til 2 hrs later by then you have already had a accident so I got a rash because tbey would not help me change my bedding until the am nurse came in . Also was put on pain meds and I would ask for them because pf the severe pain I was in and I was told I was not allowed to have any then when I did I was given Ib Profren instead of the pain pill and My .Bandages for my incisions were only changed every 3 days. One another note The Rehabilitation was amazing the whole staff treat you with respect and seem like they really do care about there patients and I would give them a 100% if I had to stay on trauma one more night I don't think I would have it made me very depressed . I spent 14days in the hospital.

Tj Linehand

Never get sick or hurt in Florida, Lee Memorial is by far the worst hospital period. Lee Memorial can thank the nurse Suzan on the 8 floor room 305 on 4/14/16. When a seasoned nurse has a poor work ethic it only shows what the other nurses on that floor will do for your Mother, Father, Brother, Sister ect. If you have an emergency refuse treatment at Lee Memorial and take your family or loved one somewhere else. You can refuse!

jimmyls

I sit here and read these reviews and wondered if I should go somewhere else but I went anyway, and I must say that this was probably the best experience I have ever had in a hospital/Emergency room. Every single one of my nurses and front office staff were absolutely fantastic and my doctor Ian black was great. He explained everything to me and I can't say enough about my experience on the 12th of July. Thankyou to everyone that helped me today.

Foxy Roxy

My first impression when walking in was the security the place was like Ft. knocks the 6 plus 60” screens two security guards watching the whole hospital I’m like I didn’t go to this Lee Hospital ER hospital before it must of been another one. Then I thought oh yeah I’m on Cleaveland Ave. Anyway I was told to sit down and wait after they quickly got my name. I sat and jumped right up the seat was wet I told the gentleman I don’t know what that is but it is know on the back of my leg. He quickly cleaned it up. There was 3 different check ins which I personally thought it was not necessary just check someone in get there Insurance info and get them in a room. No the first woman told me very sharply don’t tell me you’ll be repeating yourself. Ok so I sit another person calls me in gets my vitals then sit back out in the hallway again get called by another girl she gets all my Medication info then sit back down again. Then another girl calls me she takes my blood and sticks an IV in me. I’m like wow we don’t do this up North but ok if it works for you guys that’s fine. Everyone was super nice except the first women who checked me in. I must say they are very thorough. I was called out in a room and sat and waited after the nurse came in hooked me up to an IV with fluids the Doctor soon followed. I did notice another review that they saw blood on the wall. Well I did too we must of been in the same room. The bathroom wasn’t that clean but after having a bunch of tests the Doctor didn’t know how to treat a 4 week UTI after going to a Urologist I was still in severe pain. So 3 hours there tests showed nothing WoW. I must say everyone was super nice and compassionate anyone that came in the room I had no problems that’s all but I’ll be going to the other Lee Hospital not this one again

I had been sick for 2 weeks and when my chest got unbearably tight in 2 days time I decided to go in. I had childhood asthma so I knew when things were getting pass a regular cold to dangerous. I was coughing excessively and gasping for air in between words. I got there about 2 a.m and the nurse/male who took my info moved incredibly slow. Then there was a 2 hrs wait before a doctor came to see me even though there were only 2 people ahead of me. This hospital is visibly nasty. I guess lack of funding, but things seem seem like they need a lot of updating . When finally put in a room my nurse immediately cut me off and told me I was having an asthma flare up although I told her this is not like the plenty of asthma attacks I have had when I was a child and there was no wheezing. She barely listened to me. Thank God the doctor who came next listened and eventually told me it was bronchitis. Expect them to move faster when you are dead. Even then there will be at least an hr. Wait. I hate leaving reviews and I know doctors work incredibly long hours and are tired but when you can't obviously breathe and start to panic, there should not be a 2 hr. Wait. Period. We respect doctors for how hard they work and time they put in but the "I've seen this case before so I'm not gonna listen to you. I'm the doctor I know what I'm doing" attitude is embarrassing .

Trish w

This is an excellent hospital. I have had several surgeries here over the past 20 years. I had a wonderful experience every time and a terrific outcome for every surgery. The surgery staff is fantastic, kind and caring. My surgeons were amazing. This hospital houses the trauma center, and those doctors and nurses do an amazing job! I hope you never need to see them in action. The photos were taken in the front parking area. There is a gorgeous banyan tree.

Melody Ferrell

I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO THIS HOSPITAL. MY YOUNGEST DAUGHTER TOLD ME SHE DIDN'T LIKE THE HOSPITAL, BUT GOING AGAINST HER, I TOOK HER THERE. SHE WAS TOLD SHE HAS A HAIRLINE FRACTURE ON HER FINGER, REFERRED HER TO THE ORTHOPEDIC DOCTOR; GET THERE AND WAS TOLD IT'S AN ACTUAL BREAK! MY NEIGHBOR WENT THERE BECAUSE HE HAS PANCREATITIS AND WAS IN MAJOR PAIN. THEY RAN A FEW TEST, GAVE HIM NAUSEOUS MEDS AND SENT HIM HOME. HE THEN WENT TO GULF COAST ER AND THEY FOUND 3 ULCERS AND 1 WAS BLEEDING. HOW THE HELL LEE MEMORIAL NOT SEE THAT? Y'ALL NOT KILLING MY FAMILY, I WILL NEVER GO BACK!

Vince LaRosa

Emergency room is usually over run with people who should be at urgent care, not the ER! Other than that I cannot complain about doctors, nursing staff, or the rest of the staff. I have found the level of care very good and the staff very caring. This comes from the many times my mother has been admitted and two ER trips for myself!

Daniel Gibbons

I received absolutely wonderful care for an appendectomy done by Dr. Doan at the Cape Coral hospital. My only complaint is the food is awful. Many folks are overweight so it may be a plus.

Cris Mumaw

The Trauma doctors at Lee Memorial are AMAZING! Dr. O'Conner, Dr. Patterson, Dr. Diaz, Dr. K, their PA's and staff are fantastic! They are so kind and so knowledgeable. The way they speak to their patients and their family members, is so reassuring, they make you feel that they are doing their best to take care of everything, and that they truly care about their patients. They are such a blessing for those going through a traumatic event. We are so thankful for their dedication and skill. You will not find better doctors!

Patrick Trotter

I was brought into Lee by ambulance after a MVA on I75. I was non responsive and had suffered trauma to my head, back, sternum and elsewhere and given the best care one could receive. I walked out unaided a few days later. I ran healthcare systems for 25 years and so has my spouse and across the board the staff and their clinical performance was excellent. Great facility.

Floridalma R

Honestly, this hospital is the worst. My uncle was a patient here and the doctors, nurses payed no attention to him. They dont provide good medication. Nor doctors/nurses or whatever to help you. So I wouldn't recommend this to anybody. Thanks for not helping.

Dave Thompson

I’ve been here several times & have mixed feelings. ER takes forever like many hospitals. I took an ambulance there for severe chest pain, & after waiting a long time. the doctor ridiculed me saying I was just having muscle cramps & sent me home. I saw a chiropractor later, & he said I had a condition known as rib head which means one of my ribs had gotten out of the socket a bit which was causing me all the pain. The hospital charged several thousand dollars for me to sit around & be given a bogus diagnosis while being rude about it. Many adjustments & over a year later, my condition resolved. When I was here another time, my gall bladder was removed. I woke up in the middle of surgery, but I don’t know if that was the hospital’s fault. I also had the biggest panic attack of my life a few hours after surgery. About 11 nurses stood around trying to figure out what to do. One or two kept telling me to calm down. What kind of training do they receive that teaches them to tell a person with a panic attack to calm down? The doctor finally arrived maybe 15-20 minutes later while I was freaking out the whole time. After observing me for a handful of minutes. a nurse asked if they should give me a breathing treatment to which he agreed. Why wasn’t he the one to come up with that idea & have them do it sooner? I had other issues with all this. but I’ll leave it at this for now. A good story, though. is when I had an allergic reaction at a sushi restaurant. I nearly died multiple times (or maybe I did die?) where my blood pressure dropped to nothing. The emergency personnel who came to help were busting their butt to keep me alive. I received several injections of adrenaline. Once I was stabilized at ER, the ambulance driver came to check on me. He asked, “Do you know how fast we got here? Three minutes flat!” I certainly knew we were flying because I was being flung back & forth in the ambulance on the way. I was grateful to him & the team that came to the restaurant. Granted, the ambulance service is separate from Lee Memorial.

Had great care while in hospital. I paid 500 up front for my surgery including my insurance. 2 days after surgery I was still in the bed at home and was already getting a bill in the mail. Was also told I owed a remainder over a thousand dollars on top of insurance paying over 27,000. I called to set up a small payment plan of 50 bucks a month. Employee at collections said no payment plans set up have to pay the entire bill off within 4 months. This company is in it for the rich. Will go somewhere else for surgeries from now on.

ANGEL BRAHAM

Took my autistic son there after he fell and cut his chin. I called ahead and let the ER staff know that he was autistic and had anxiety in medical settings. When I arrived they had the help I needed and provided us a closed space away from the public helping to ease his anxiety. The doctors, nurses, respiratory and other departments where knowledgeable and explained everything to me in detail. They sutured him in a very dignified manner using medication to sedate him. This has GREATLY changed my view of this hospital. I'm so pleased with the improvement in customer service. I actually felt like they cared about my child as much as I did. Only negative is the wait time was around 6 hours....but they were very busy!

I went to Health Park Hospital emergency room 6 weeks ago for acute cellulitis. After getting IV antibiotics, it was agreed I would go to Lee Memorial on 41 for IV antibiotics. It so happened they opened their new infusion wing that day. What a modern facility! I was greeted on time by a lady and brought in for an evaluation. Long story short, this lady also found a wound on my big toe which started the whole problematic. Beings diabetic with no feeling in my feet, her careful examination and explanation of what it would entail to fix was no nonsense and to the point. I then spent the next 6 days going for treatment. My appointments were on time and the people who treated me were excellent. The ARNP who decided my treatment plan, Patricia Jacobs Mann was excellent. I wish I remembered the men and women's names who also treated me, but you know who you are. A week after my treatment was over, I was contacted by phone to see how I was doing. We are lucky to have such dedicated people at Lee Health. Thanks again Richard Brehaut

I use to think Lee Memorial was one of the best but now I think otherwise. I was admitted on the 27th was very stressed instead of helping me they enacted the Baker Act which they should not of was not a threat. They handled this very badly was not on drugs I also do not drink. I was stressed and had a little memory loss, as I said instead of giving me a day of rest and treatment they enacted the Baker Act . They admitted me to a very terrible place that should be investigated Royal Palm Hospital OMG thank GOD was only there for a day and a half. I will from here on out have nightmares because of that place. All I'm saying people BEWARE same can happen to you. Lee Memorial needs to review the staff that treated me that night was not a threat to anyone, including me self.

My Fiance got her hip replacement here and she was well taken care of, the only thing I didn't find charming was that all of the nurses and doctors were contradicting each other when they gave us discharge instructions and advise.

mark.A. shetters

The doctors were great the nurses were incredible the CNAs were very considerate and very kind they try to help you in every way possible they made me feel really very comfortable here and have no complaints and they have some of the hottest nurses

As an EDS and MCAD patient I have been treated like a monster. Nurses and Doctors unwilling to hear the information I have about these DISEASES. I have been treated as though I am causing my diseases.

One of the worst hospitals by far that I have visited. Went in for dehydration due to food poisoning. Completely unsanitary. Nurses not washing hands, opening IV saline bags with their teeth, giving unnecessary treatments (I received a breathing treatment even though I had no issues with my lungs). Then I complained to guest relations about this and was told they would look into it and keep me updated. Was never informed of how they were handling the situation. Was told to wait to pay my bill until they could look into it and received letter threatening to go to Collections due to unpaid bill. The bill wasn't very much however I was simply following what I was told to do. Have tried to get in touch and haven't returned my phone calls. Would highly recommend people avoid this hospital as it sets a new low for medical practice.

The worst Hospital in the world. Accused and almost arrested for supposedly stealing somebody's wallet that wasn't in the same room with me that was three rooms away from me when I didn't even leave my room so now I'm kicked off premises and they also are pressing charges when the wallet wasn't found on me strip-searched and look through all of my belongings how could you blame somebody for that she probably just had money in it and is trying to take me to court and sue me watch these people are so conniving

If I could rate it sub zero I would.....this place is basically holding my mother hostage. She is a snow bird. She did fall, but we've been trying to get her home (1,200+miles away) for 2 weeks.......2 weeks. She was supposed to be home tomorrow....all of a sudden, DURING EXERCISE, her heart rate elevated.....they need to do a cardiac work up now BS.....they want more money. They don't care about my mother. I had heard horror stories about Florida hospitals taking advantage of elderly......ITS THE TRUTH

Lisa Green

Came here with a head injury sat in the waiting room for 3 hrs. With a major head ache they don't care I still haven't got something for it and they let other poeple yell and everything they was take poeple with colds first.

Shameka Nicole

My mom was a patient there for a whole week. That same week she was back in there by Friday. She sat in the waiting room for 3 whole hours before she got a room. That was truly ridiculous especially since she was just a patient. Unfortunately my mom passed away early Saturday morning with sepsis. If they would have seen her sooner she probably would still be here. I believe she's in a better place but I'm still bitter. I would not trust Lee Memorial with my dog if I had one.

My mother in law is 90, she fell took her there, they said foot was not broken just sprained. Went to foot dr.she has 2 breaks and torn legitimates. Not to put weight on it or might not be able to ever use it. They let us walk out. How could this happen, i would hate to go with a heart attack they would tell me i have indigestion

Timothy Tew

I lost half of my blood from a bleeding ulcer and spent hours in the ER. The ER staff were great. They scheduled a procedure and admitted me to the 5th floor and it all went south from that point. The other patient in my room was assaulted by a gang member and crapped all over the room. I tried the nurse call for ten minutes and when someone finally arrived they claimed it never happened. I was moved to another room and two nurses and a security guard showed up I demanded I sign a discharge saying I am leaving against medical advice. I said no. They then refused me water and medication. After several hours in pain I left the miserable nasty place.

Michelle Rau

We had to go across the street and call an ambulance to get emergency care because the staff at this emergency room would not help us. It is the most absurd thing I have ever seen.

cindy zozus

As I was sitting in the waiting room reading the reviews on this hospital, I almost cancelled my surgery. However I have found my experience to be excellent. The staff here was so caring and my procedure went perfectly. Better then expected. Perhaps the ER is a different situation but the operating room Staff was awesome!

Rich Haberle

This is a criminal organization out to maximize profits over the care of the patients. This particular location is decrepit, filthy and I’m sure the hourly motels on 41 are cleaner. You’re better off taking your chances unless death and/or bankruptcy are you end games.

After my doctor cleared me for release, the hospital would not give me my prescriptions unless I stayed 3 additional days, including a weekend, and signed up for THEIR in house re-hab service. So I have no prescriptions. They repeatedly "forgot" to feed me, did little or no treatment, and had 2 minute doctor visits. Money comes first, convenience of the staff next, patient care comes last. UPDATE: My insurance company tells me it would have been a total waste of time and money to stay--they would not approve "in-house" rehab for my condition. UPDATE: The person and phone number listed in Lee Health's response, did not even answer the phone when I called, and I could not leave a message. UPDATE: It's hard to avoid Lee Health, as they own all the hospitals in this county, and many clinics too. When I recently had to use their Urgent Care, I was subsequently over-billed for erroneous/fraudulent co-pays. Their billing department was obnoxious, even though it was logically impossible for me to owe the billed co-pays, based on my insurance. It took many hours (and an overdue phony bill from them) before my insurance company stepped in--and I was proven right! These people should be investigated. UPDATE: It's 2 years later and I couldn't breathe--seriously--and in the worst pain in my life. The ER as usual did a great job for me. Once moved to the Respiratory Ward, the house doctor accidentally ordered massive amts of laxitives for me--he never admited it--so I had diarhea for 9 days. The nursing staff was understanding, but my roommate just couldn't take it anymore, and we came close to a fist fight. The 'doctors' spend almost no time with you, and don't listen--they already know everything. (They're really just medical technicians,) The system pretty much is "different doctor everyday, different nurse everyday" so they don't know what the whole story is. VERY reluctant to discuss risks and side effects of the treatment options--had to confront them with internet data. At my choice, I was treated 'medically' for several days, without great results (except from the excellent 'inhalation therapy' team)--so I finally consented to the 'interventionist approach' which came with risk of serious complications. I got the complication, a partially collapsed lung--I was lucky it wasn't worse. The diarhea stopped as soon as I checked out and dropped by Publix. Everyone, except ER, appeared in a big hurry, including the nursing staff--the patients seemed to be a nuisance. Although many on the nursing staff showed me great kindness. My doctor made several mistakes, such as giving me Crestor in the morning (it's taken at bedtime for real reasons), refusing stress medication, and knowing nothing about the use of diazapam in patients like myself, with neuological disorders. And, of course, not treating the diarhea. I won't bore you with "10 days In Hell" except to say--this is what monopoly medicine brings. They don't even have a 'patient advocate' on the staff. If you live in Ft Myers you litterally have no choice (also, 61% of the doctors are in Lee Health practices, so they're hard to avoid.) I'm having difficulty getting follow-up from an independent doctor. And this is a community which, falsely, prides itseld in being conservative and supportive of free enterprize.

The hospital does not prepare for the increase in people during the winter season. I was admitted and had to spend the nite on a bed in the hallway where the entrance doors are. No pillow as they were out. In my street clothes. No food or drinks. Nurse said they were too busy to go to pharmacy to get my meds. So I took mine I brought from home. And the charged me for a private room for that first night! And $5000 for the care I received in the ER.

Bek Caruso

They sent my dad home to wait to die. Thankfully we got a second opinion at The Cleveland Clinic in Weston, FL. Today my dad enters a rehabilitation facility to get physically stronger so he can come home next week. Lee Health is awful. Avoid if you have a choice.

About me: WF, late 40s. I have been there twice with heart related problems. First time 24hr under observation and a second time was admitted for 3 days. I didn't have to wait at all and ER tests were completed within 1 hour. The staff were efficient and courteous. The rooms/floors were sparkling. Warm blankets were offered. They are very organized when it comes to tests, transportation, etc. "My" nurses were very nice, except one who ridiculed me when I complained that I was having severe side effect on a new medicine. She eventually reported my complains to a doctor who got concerned. I would suggest an introduction to Pharmacogenetics to all nurses. There were common for every hospital things such as "you never actually see a doctor" or he/she comes and goes with a speed of light. When they come, they don't really listen or explain anything. Patients given no credit for intelligence. Patients with complex diagnoses know more about their illness than any doctor or nurse. And I do understand that there are protocols to follow, priorities, etc. and their goal is to make sure you are not dying and send you back to your doctor. The other thing I couldn't help but notice was food quality, which is mostly junk food. Canned sweets, vegetables, styrofoam cups, white bread(!!!). It looks like hospital's dietitians are 20 years behind the latest research in nutritional science. Ask for stool softeners right away, or you will be very sorry later on. Next one is lights. Enough research is being done to confirm that artificial "blue" light is slowly killing hospital's staff as well as it interferes with patient's recovery. WiFi is now in every room. I don't even want to start on that. Mobile phones should be banned in all hospitals. I will finish with that overall, I received efficient& courteous care in LeeMemorial hospital. I am grateful for that. Especial thank you to Sonographer: RB, RDCS for the excellent procedure. I had 2 more echocardiogams (at GCMC) since then, each with a note: technically difficult study. RB, RDCS (initials of the sonographer at LMH) was able to accomplish what others couldn't, since they found it was too difficult. Update: I have been to Gulf Coast Medical Center twice after I posted the above review. The experience was different. I'll post my review later on.

I went to Lee as instructed by my OB nurse hotline when I experienced bleeding and cramps. I was charged 1500 just to walk in the door. I received an ultrasound and lab work. 3 hours later I then got counseled by the doc for 5 minutes. I was told to go home on bed rest till Monday. I was then sat in the hallway for 3 hours while I waited for a Rhogam shot to come down from lab. All this to miscarry 24 hours later. But at least I got a nice 2100 bill to rub salt in the wound. I called and asked if they could work with me on the number so I could pay the bill. The lady on the phone said Do you have insurance. I said yes. So she said Then No. Thank you Lee ER.

I had to stay overnight due to an unexpected illness. Every single person I came in contact with that assisted with caring for me was absolutely amazing. This hospital has an amazing staff. I was treated like family and for that I am grateful. I can’t give enough praise to Lee Memorial.

David Kelly

I would rate it a negative but I dosent give that option. The triage nurse Darla she was just as mean as possible and said the rudest things to me . After making a complaint with a manager it got even worse when I saw her roll her eyes. Her name was Rachel

Cassandra Valeros

Worst place to ever bring one of your loved ones in! My brother went in to rehab there after his knee surgery and they forgot to give him the blood thinner , had 2 cardiac arrests there and passed 2 weeks later ! He went there to get better and little did we know that this was the last time we’d ever get to see or talk to him ! I pray that this place has to shut down and sad to say but no lawyer wants to go against them...

Worse Service !!! They Take To Long, Dont Give Enough Information

Lisa Hartford

Waited in ER 2+ hours to be seen. They took me to a room that had someone else's blood all over the floor. It was disgustingly dirty. Never given remote to be able to call a nurse if needed. This used to be the go-to hospital in Lee County. The only one worse is Cape Coral Hospital. They also failed to put allergy identification on my wristband. I had to stop the nurse from using a product that I am severely allergic to. Why is the furniture in the ER at least 20 years old and broken? They may claim to be not-for-profit but, wow, can't someone clean up the blood on the floor before bringing another patient into it? That is extremely dangerous for someone who is immune-compromised.

David Metcalfe

The doctors, nurses and staff at Lee Health are real professionals. They ALL were kind and caring to my wife during her recent surgery. A breath of fresh air when other hospitals are taking a hit.

I'm here often, most the people and staff are enjoyable and very friendly, when u have to frequent a hospital because u r always sick do to many ILLNESSES it's nice to have a nice friendly environment to be in....

Justin Wanser

Although some locals might complain about this hospital, it is a great place to visit or for medical care. I am also guilty of being frustrated with this location in the past and it honestly boils down to the fact that I was not knowledgable with the locale, medical rules and procedures, and basically the way this hospital governs itself. Once I became more familiar with laws and what not that restrict the way hospitals opperate I decided that this is quite a nice place. I have been a patient and an admitted patient here (unfortunately) several times and each time it leaves me almost longing to get hurt again so I can come back lol. When you are admitted, you will either get a private or a shared room, depending on the luck of the draw. Either way you get your own tv and you can call the day before and order a nice variety of things to res at. The staff is friendly and will do anything for you 85% of the time however, like clockwork, there seems to always be a nurse that comes around that I can only assume has had a long day and for no reason is a POS.

So I collapsed from severe pain and needed to go to a hospital, and I had only really been to Cape ER my whole life and I used to feel their treatment sucked. That was, of course, until I decided to go to Lee Memorial. I was brought back fairly quickly which was a pleasant surprise, but from there it only went downhill. I came in with severe tremors and muscle spasms where the pain resided in my back. I've been having back problems now since July, and I needed to figure out what was going on. So I was sat in a bed in the hallway and given a gown to put on. I asked why I needed the gown and was informed "in case the doctor wants any tests done." And told to go to the bathroom and change. I had to walk to the bathroom when I could barely hold myself up! So I finally get the gown on, and lay in the bed awaiting the doctor. When the doctor comes by he's very rude and disrespectful, like his nurses, because I politely declined any vaccinations for medicines and requested not to have heavy painkillers administered. I don't like drugs nor do I do drugs. So 2 hours go by and the doctor comes back. He hands me 3 prescriptions of HEAVY DUTY DRUGS when I specifically asked him not to, and just shrugs me off stating, "well we could have fixed it with just a vaccine, but you wanted to play games." And was sent on my way... So now I still don't understand what's going on with me, because they didn't give me any tests... my friends and family in the medical field all tell me he treated me for drug addiction withdrawals but I told the doctor that I don't do drugs at all! So, wrapping this terrible nonfictional tale up, I was a victim of Malpractice at Lee Memorial Hospital ER, and am still gravely sick from it. This is the worst treatment I've gotten from any doctor, to be told I'm playing games when I have a phobia of needles. If anyone needs to ask me who this doctor was that treated me so badly, feel free to ask. If they want to publicly humiliated me and treat me like a pill popper, It's only fair to publicly disclose his horrific job educate.

Yeraldin Meneses

It's the best Hospital I've been!! All the people who work there are very friendly and helpful, it's hard to find a hospital with so much humanity!!

Anne McConnochie

We were on holiday from the UK and my husband developed a lump on his leg which we thought we should have checked before flying home. The staff at Lee Memorial couldn't have been more kind, helpful or courteous especially Gabriela at Registration and Cody and dark haired young lady, whose name I didn't know, in the Emergency Room which was run very efficiently even though it was a Friday evening and very busy. Thank you to all.

Rojas Rojas

My daughter was in a car accident and suffer a concussion with memory lost. And they treated her badly. They told us that the doctor was gone for the day and that she was clear to go home. She had 10 different diagnose including a broken nose. Not even a Tylenol.

rena ray

I had severe stomach pains last night and everyone was so helpful all but the ER doctor he came up to me while I was in pain and before any test and said mam I handle gunshot and heart attack victims and he just walked out if this hospital was the last one on earth I wouldn't go back here.

Jilberto Nieto

I'm currently at this hospital with my farther who is wearing a neck brace. He was transferred here from the Bakers Hospital in Naples. I've rung his help button twice and talked to 2 different nurses about it being time for his medicine. I've been told that they would find someone to administer it and have been waiting for about 40 mins now with no one coming back to check or anything. His pain level is at 7. He had the screws tightened and I can't imagine how much worse it feels when you have to wait so long to help relive the pain caused by the screws in his head.

Lee Holmberg

I love the copy and paste response..... I called this evening to check on a patient and to see if there was family bedside and was ultimately hung up on by who knows I was speaking with. I was appalled by the attitude I received on the phone. The "nurse" or whomever only kept saying they could not provide information to which I would reply, I'm not asking for information on the patient, I'm asking if there is family in the room. I was then hung up on. This was by far the most infuriating part of that entire experience. I am fully aware of what HIPPA is and answering yes or no to there being family in the room does NOT violate HIPPA. DISGUSTED.
