What an amazing place! I am not big on social media but I needed to take the time to share my family’s story! We didn’t know where to go when our loved one was sick in Miami. The doctors were telling us our options were hospice and Kindred since my Father-in-law was on a vent and had been in the ICU for three weeks. He wasn’t doing better and the hospital told us we needed to make a decision. A representative from Kindred Coral Gables came and helped us get situated at Kindred. The entire team at Kindred Coral Gables helped us through the entire process from start to finish. Now my father ia at home doing great!

My wife has been here since mid February 2018 for multiple medical issues. The care she has received from the entire staff has been exceptional !! I can only express my sincere appreciation to all, the Mainance staff; CNA's Nursing staff, Wound Care Team; Pharmacy staff; Cooks and Kitchen staff; Virginia at the front desk; Records department; Case manegement; Admissions, Administration staff, Arleen and Brian the CEO who with all the staff are always available to help with any questions a family member may have. The weekly care plan meetings involve every department and a family member if requested provide a comprehensive overview of the patients care, treatment and expectations. Any time day or night family members are not only welcome but are encouraged. The Physicians who are on staff and who attend as specialists are first rate in every aspect. I researched all the LTAC's in the South Florida area and evan though Kindred Coral Gables is about 40 minutes from my home the drive would be worthwhile if it was twice as far. By the way as far as the food.... it is excellent, Crusted Salmon was served this week and today Roast turkey.I have been here every day visiting my wife and the cleanliness of Kindred Coral Gables is exceptional. The finest choice I could possibly have made to entrust the care of my wife. I thank all who care for my wife, they a team that is a credit to their professions, their employer and their families. I recommend Kindred to anyone specially if your loved ones need respiratory treatment. The hospital is clean, with big rooms and an excellent staff. The parking lot has plenty of spaces and the cafeteria is always open for drinks and coffee. For the moment you entered the hospital the security guard welcomes you with a smile. All the nurses and nurses assistants are hardworking, sweet, and very passionate. The patients receive daily physical and respiratory therapy. My mother left another hospital (which I wont name since they where sued) to come here for care. When I came to see my mother here on a daily basis she was never ever turned or moved since she was bed ridden from a bad stroke. The CNAs or Nurses are suppose to turn patients to avoid bed sores. I or my Dad or brother where there every day for at least 8 hours and they never turned her! When we came in in the morning to see here she always was in bed facing forward. Which leads us to believe she was never turned. And yes she developed a very bad bed sore! The place smelt bad too, especially in the elevators. Hated this place!

I should have sent a review back in January, but after 10 months have passed I can finally get my thoughts together and send you all my experience at Kindred Hospital in Coral Gables. My step father came here after 5 weeks in ICU in Jackson. He was alert, could not speak due to tube, but very alert and ready to rehab so he can go home. He came here to get better, but upon the first day of arrival they quickly sedated him to the point where he just deteriorated and died only after 5 days in their care. To make a long story short, they didn't even know what type of food to tube feed; if my mom was not there, the wrong food would have been given. I will make it quick, this place definitely KILLED my step father, he was alert and strong upon arrival, with all the sedation instead of rehab, he died 5 days later. I wish I could sue for malpractice but Florida sucks and laws don't make sense. Unless you want your loved one to die, which means your evil, don't take them to Kindred Hospital in Coral Gables.

My dad arrived at Kindred Hospital having been in other facilities and hospitals, I was Very skeptical to say the least. I was pleasantly surprised at the level of care my dad is receiving. The nurses often are well versed on my dad’s condition, so I have continually provide information and each day he has been here he has had Consistent care. The doctors are great, Dr. Avencilla is a great Dr. very caring and kind. The hospital environment is great, and encourages patient recovery. Clean rooms, clean hallways. I would like to mention some outstanding staff who have helped my dad every step of the way. This is not even a hospital. Place is ridiculous. Our loved family member died there and it appears he was hours without being taken care of. When we went to see him 10AM (2 hours after they found him), he was inflated (gases) from the body decomposing and they they found him at 7-8AM in the morning like that on the floor. Any ICU patient with head trauma, please stay away. They blamed it on him removing his tubes/measuring devices. My thoughts are, aren't there systems design for an alert and someone to go right away into a room where vitals flat line in these cases? My guess is no one went to check up on him. He might of died several hours before they found him. Also, they were so quick to get rid of the poor mans body for funeral. Laws in Florida are so messed up, but definitely will watch out for this hospital for future cases. If there is a class action lawsuit, people need to join in. Also, try getting your family member to better hospital than Kendall Regional medical center. Tracheostomy should be the last resort. They insisted in this being done and this is hell. If a person needs to be on tube for weeks or months, so be it. The recovery is better afterwards than having a Tracheostomy done. Real bad advice from hospital (all they want is to charge insurance). Edit- Review is for Kindred not Kendall Regional. Transferred ICU patients with injuries to the head require lots of intensive care. My cousin was hit by a car 10 years ago and flew in the air 15 feet. and he was in Jackson Ryder Trauma for 3 months. Came out good as new and thank god he never went to a rehabilitation hospital. Kendall Regional should not be releasing patients this fast to rehabilitation. In addition to a "rehabilitation hospital" that checks on patients daily instead of hourly like real ICU hospitals. I can't describe the care at Kindred since I was not there daily, but you can see the movement in the facility if you stay a few hours and what is done to patients. This is not a hospital ICU level. I don't know if Kindred is affiliated with Kendall Regional, but many patients from Kendall Regional do end up in Kindred since there are so close. Doctors should just have sent him back to the hospital at Kendall Regional or another hospital if the patient requires more care "ICU". This is a fail on the doctors on both the hospital and rehab facility. I have not even talked about the transfer of patient. Kindred tried to keep my family member at their facility at all costs. Once the patient goes into Kindred, if the patient can't walk, he will stay at kindred, trust me. They will try to delay everything and go back and forth. Weird thing is my family member died a few days before the transfer letter and doctor inspected him to be transfer to a way better facility down by US1 and Old Cutler Rd. Since they knew he was going to be transferred, they gave up on him and failed to keep and eye on him (he pulled his tubes overnight "supposedly". Basically, charge the insurance for him passing away too and all the procedures and removal afterwards. I don't care if they read this and suggest what I am insinuating. But one death under failed care or forgot to check up on a patient in the morning hours or overnight borderline murder. "Where were the systems for heartbeat alert/flat line, no defibrillator to revive him? , Not sent to a real emergency hospital? Anyone in the industry knows that a patient does not inflate in 1-2 hours like that. It takes many hours. My guess is he passed away between 12am-5am. And they open there facility either 7am or 8am for visitation. Once they checked on him he was already passed away many hours with no care and they messed up. I arrived at Kindred Hospital (Coral Gables) with my 20 year old daughter on August 7, 2019. My daughter is on a vent that helps her breath. Upon arriving we were greeted with a lot of attention. I brought my daughter here for their vent weaning program. In the time that I have been here with my daughter everyone has been very caring and compassionate. I am hopeful that with the care that my daughter has been receiving here that she will successfully be able to get off the vent and breathing on her own again. I recommend kindred hospital.

I can't say enough about the people at this Hospital. Everyone from the CNA's to the HouseKeepers, to the doctors to administrstion at Kindred Coral Gables was helpful to me and my family. If I wasn't able to come by to see my father I was able to call and get an update on him. They had a weekly meeting with me that explained exactely what was going on with him and showed me all the progress he was making. After a few weeks he was discharged out of the Hospital and now he is doing great! I'm so glad we went to Kindred.

My dad is dying at their facility and they don't even care. He was admitted two months ago and he has not improved. He is so frail, gaunt and weak. The staff is overwhelmed and under-skilled to care for special cases. My dad went into paralysis and they didn't even notice. They kept dismissively stating "he is stable". I'm begging them to move my dad to another hospital. They refused, most likely for insurance money reasons. When I persisted, Nancy the nurse manager told me to call an ambulance to take him home. Her nonchalant sarcasm about my loved one's life was so inappropriately unprofessional and hurtful. I am terrified that my dad will die there. UPDATE: "Against Medical Advice" I transferred my father to a real hospital and they checked him immediately to ICU due to the poor care my father received at this place. They discovered a gaping wound under his trach. His PEG was so dirty and uncared for. My dad suffered from edema. He went into a coma and subsequent paralysis in the two month he was at this "hospital". All this happened under the "care" of Dr. Reyes and the "nurses". MALPRACTICE.

My father sustained a TBI 7 months ago. He was transferred from ICU trauma to kindred while still in a vegetative state- being from Key West he was 3 hours from home and family was only able to visit weekends. I was his medical decision maker and had to provide most of his care over the phone as I live many states away in Connecticut. The staff at Kindred was truly incredible. The entire team, the neurologist, the respiratory team, the physicians (Dr. Soto is incredible beyond words and will forever be in my heart), nurses, techs, case manager (Diana), Pharmacist (Delores, you are so kind, patient and wonderful) and the wound nurse (Nancy, you are an angel) all provided top notch care to my father. As an RN myself I found that I was thorough impressed with the care he received- after an interdisciplinary team meeting I had with all of his staff in the conference room during my visit last February I was completely confident in Kindred's ability to provide the best quality care to my father. We weren't sure if my father would ever come out of his state...but because of the intensive and personalized care he received (coupled with incredible communication from his team to me and his family) he is now 7 months later miraculously recovered with no ill deficits from his accident. None. The hospital is in a high traffic area,the building is a bit outdated and the rooms aren't private but for those "superficial flaws" this hospital makes up for it entirely in it's holistic and compassionate approach to care. I will never be able to thank Kindred enough for all you did for my father, and for my family. I only wish I could speak Spanish so I could thank every single member of staff there appropriately. You saved his life...and you gave him back his life, uninjured. Thank you Kindred Coral Gables.

My husband has been here for a couple weeks now, he is 41 years old and we have two small kids. He was transferred here from another hospital, after suffering a head injury while at work.... right side paralysis and completely out. Needless to say, we were in shock and very sad. He was doing bad, but since being here at this amazing hospital, his progress has been amazing. The staff here, from the nurses, the respiratory therapists, the physical therapist, the administration is simply phenomenal!!!!! He is now breathing on his own, walking through the halls and to the physical therapy department, joking with the ICU nursing staff, and laughing at their jokes... even talking about soccer... he laughs and we are very happy at this point. The morning ICU nurses........no words to describe how they care, how, much they care. This is an amazing, amazing place. I wish I could share pictures through here.

I was transferred to Kindred by Dr Reuben Penarandas due to a need for long term wound care to treat MRSA infected decubitus ulcers. Dr Penarandas who is himself a phenomenal physician said Kindred was the best place for these chronic wounds and boy was he right! The wound team led by Nancy has been great and the wounds are healing better than they ever have before period. I would be remiss if I did not give the kudos they deserve to the nurses at this facility. I am a T9 paraplegic the result of a tragic 32’ fall on to concrete seventeen years ago. I have undergone sixteen extensive spinal surgeries and have loads of instrumentation in my body. I tell you of my medical history only so you will know that I am unfortunately a professional at being hospitalized and have been in many of America’s leading hospitals including Stanford, Methodist, UCLA to name just a few. I have never received better nursing care than right here at Kindred in Miami period. Maritza, Julio, Teresa, Nancy, Gabriella all bring great bedside manner and a great disposition to their jobs everyday. They SMILE big smiles, explain the treatments accurately and dispense my medicines timely and correctly. I personally reached out ask how I could bring some recognition for a job well done to this team of professionals you have deployed here at Kindred. I want to again stress that I am no rookie at being hospitalized all around the country and even overseas and personally rate your team NUMBER ONE in NURSING!
