The doctor here is very rude because I have a sprain clearly on X-rays it shows a high ankle sprain and I’m being told the X-rays are negative meanwhile I haven’t been able to walk on it and he has a very bad attitude

Hospital Liasion Alba Davila Alba is a sweet person who always helps when scheduling patients to a primary care facility and make sure that the patient has all the educational materials that they need before being discharged. She has shown to be dedicated to her patients and wants only the best for them whether they are in the hospital or out. Alba goes out of her way and beyond to make sure patients feel welcomed, and leave with ease of mind when they are leaving the hospital. She has been a nurse for several years now and it really shows that she loves what she does. Keep up the great work alba. You are truly a patient advocate.

Only giving a three due to the care I had right after my cervical surgery when I needed a good nurse and staff member. I was very disappointed how the nurse acted agitated at me and did not ask if I needed anything. I couldn’t move due to my alarm on my bed if I would get up. Maybe her and her cpt had a bad day, but clearly (I’m in my forties) I could tell I was not treated how a patient who just had 50,000-60,000 surgery and the severity of the surgery should have been treated. With that being said, I rated a 3 Star because after the shift or that nurse and other staff left, I was treated excellent with the rest of my stay... Brenda the cafeteria worker, let me cry on her regarding my care and brought me drinks up!!! 5th floor shaynah, I believe ) excellent nurse and in the next morning (a black man nurse) absolutely awesome! I wish I would have had the care I received at the end of my stay, the care I received at the beginning

Nice hospital. They have treated some family a few times. Excellent care.

I came to Fish Memorial not as a patient, but to visit my best friend (Although I have been a patient here as well). It was very easy to get into the hospital, almost too easy. Most hospitals require you to provide your ID and they give you a badge to wear with your name and what part of the hospital you are going to be in. I was surprised that there wasn't any sort of procedure like that in place here. I wasn't even questioned when I walked into the lobby. The staff here are friendly and helpful. I was even offered a ride to my car upon departure. Beautiful landscaping around the buildings.

Both nurses was extremely excellent.

I would have given no stars but it wasn't an option. I brought my wife here a couple months ago for severe abdominal pain. They got her in very fast and then proceeded to get get her out just as fast. They did not run one test on her even though she was very specific about what the pain was as far as telling them she thought it was her gallbladder. They did take a urine sample and maybe blood, told her they did not find anything and blamed it on her fibro, then threw 5 scripts at her and cycled her out like they were trying to get fast turnover. The pain persisted and a couple weeks ago became debilitating. I took her to Deland this time and they had an ultrasound tech waiting in the room for us when we got back there. They took her from the ultrasound directly to a CT scan and another test before concluding that her gallbladder was infected and needed removed immediately. PLEASE.... if you really need care, do yourself a favor and drive the extra 20-30 minutes to Deland and get real health care. Stay away from Fish Memorial at all cost. Now they have the nerve to demand payment for services when they literally did NOTHING. They are not going to receive payment, but will receive a call from our lawyer.

Staff in ER were slamming things around my wife's room and giving us dirty looks

This place is amazing. From preop staff and 5th floor staff. Amazing. Especially to Jenna and Brenda on the 5th floor! Thank you both for taking care of my sis. OT and PT too. Great job. P. Basile

That ER is so bad. Just awful how they get away with treating patients. So so bad.

I was sent here after I had a CT scan. I had to have an emergency appendectomy. Dr. Dennis Diaz was the doctor on call and he met me at the hospital shortly after I was referred. My experience was wonderful from start to finish. All the staff was helpful, efficient, friendly and most important, competent. I know Fish Memorial doesn't have the best history, but now that Florida Hospital has taken over, I would highly recommend this place and go back in the future.

Worst service ever. Doctors changed meds without consulting me. Changed all my meds to PO after I came to the emergency room because PO meds weren't working. Wouldn't pick up phone calls from nurses all night long. Kept trying to give me Percocets after I told them I had tried that option and ended up here at the hospital. The overnight doctor acted as she was oblivious to how the meds were changed and didn't care whether I suffered or not. (Dr. Hayes and his internal medicine team are the worse). Refused to work with me when asking for Benadryl. I would never come back to this hospital the worst 3 days of my life. I have sickle cell anemia and the worst thing you can do is leave that type of pain untreated. I literally had to sit and wait as I cried my eyes out for 3 and a half hours before the doctor responded for over night calls. Then the doctor said there was nothing she could do for me for IV Benadryl after not answering the phone for 5 hours straight as I sat with a migraine and constant itching. I scratched to the point of bleeding and got no sleep all night. I would NOT recommend going to this facility especially if you have a serious illness.

We brought my (97) year old mother in on April 4th as her health was clearly declining. Doctor Claire Simpson (I believe that is correct) was both efficient and compassionate in her assessment and orders for care. She was eventually moved to a hospice room and did pass away this morning (4-5-16). Your entire staff were incredibly professional handling my mother's final day and she went in peace. (thankfully) Again, thanks to Dr Simpson, stacey in the ER, the triage/check in group and Paula in Hospice. We appreciate their presence in our community. Ron

Went to the ER for chest pain on a Sunday (Mothers day). They determined I am in perfect health and sent me home after a few hours. Weeks later im billed thousands of dollars ! Over 5k with insurance. Complete ripoff! Its better to be safe than sorry but this makes no sense. I will wait and go to my primary care next time.

My mother recently went to the ER because she has fallen and was told she had a UTI. Two days later, she went back to the ER to tell them she couldn't walk. Her body has completely become weak. To the point she can't walk and hasn't had a bowel movement in a week. They still sent her home and told her all she had to do was rest. I plan to take her to Sanford Hospital tomorrow because I hear they are always better. I really don't think its normal not to have a bowel movement in a week and not be able to move your body because of a UTI. If I find out my mother is in worse condition then what the Orange City hospital found, I plan to take legal actions.

Baby Girl

I did have one good in patient experience with this hospital when I was admitted with bronchitis. Although I was in a room with a lady complaining of severe pain that they did not treat for several days because she told them pain medication made her itch. Pain medication causes everyone to itch. I have asthma, emphysema and copd. I was admitted 4 other times with bronchitis or pneumonia. I was baker acted after my roommate told them that I have been diagnosed with aspergers and one time after my roommate told that I had been sitting in my closet which was to get away from his yelling. 3 of the times after I was well enough I was transported to a psychiatric facility where I was released after being told I did not have any psychiatric issues. One time they immediately drove me home and told me to tell this hospital that I am not eligible to be in a psychiatric hospital. The 5th time I was admitted with breathing issues, the psychiatrist at fish memorial told me next time I am admitted she will make sure I am transported to a psychiatric hospital and will let me go home this time. All 4 of these times I was baker acted a person was sitting in the room with me 24 hours a day which was not necessary. I was also put in diapers despite being able to use the bathroom on my own. My care the last 4 times compared to the first was very poor and demeaning. I have suffered through 2 illnesses since without going to the hospital despite my primary care physician telling me that my breathing difficulties were severe enough that I need to go to this hospital. I stayed home and used my nebulizer and took my prescribed medication, which is pretty much all that is done as an inpatient anyways. The baker act is intended to be used to hold patients for psychiatric care that pose a danger which I do not and never have.

People come here to die. The staff must wholeheartedly believe this... Please, for your own sake, bring your loved ones ANYWHERE but here!

Worst hospital I have ever been to. I had a dislocated shoulder, went to the ER, with only 2 people there and ended up waiting 3 hours for them to finally see me. The doctor finally came in to relocated my shoulder and after popping it back in place, he moved my arm and dislocated it again, it hurt even worst than the first time. I swear the entire hospital heard me scream in pain. Every single time I go to Fish memorial, It is the worst service ever. The name fits it right, because the place stinks.

Went to er last Thursday little long but very thourough....and professional.....just had minor exploratory d+c this morning extremely professional and diligent....finding diagnosis and reason behind woman bleeding....what comes next we will see....it helps that I'm from Boston and know many boston hospitals. .....if they do not act like the professional I dealt with in boston I will let you know...so far so good Boston Strong....Dr Joseph marino is a great Leader

Horrible, horrible, I can not believe this place and I am so disgusted. I brought my disabled adult daughter in with an infected pressure sore that burst. I waited with her until she got to triage and the nurse unwrapped her foot. The nurse said this is really bad and we will get you right in. She said the wait would not be long because all the other cases were minor and going to the other side. I had to got to the next town to pick up some items and would be gone two hours. The nurse said she may be finished by then. I was worried because I did not want to leak my daughter alone because I am her pactient avocate. They said not to worry. I got back two hours later to find my daughter sitting in her wheelchair in the waiting room with her bleeding foot unbandaged and not having had any medical care or even seen a doctor. So very appalling that this hospital would treat a disabled person like that. When I asked why she was sitting there bleeding the receptionist said, Just take her to another hospital. She doesn't even have to check out.

3 stars or more on the level of care by my dr's and rn's, but man alive, trying to get ahold of the medical records dept is like trying to find Waldo. Website signin does not work, posted phone# for medical records goes nowhere, main desk transfers me to the hosp in Deland, and only get voicemail there. Not good.

Misdiagnosed my mom. Also lied about taking off her pain patch. Just unreal.

Every single time I came here with my kids, they treat them as if was their own kids. Speedy service to be a hospital but they make sure to diagnose what is correct. Sometimes it might get crowded but only be because they don't like to discharge patients without knowing clearly what they got. Keep up the good work!

On March 1, 2019 , my uncle was rushed to this hospital via EMS which is right down the street less than a mile and his friend driving himself to meet my uncle there best EMS there when they left from the same location ! Upon arrival , he was treated in ICU for over a week and had some great nurses and some not so great rude nurses and I have more common sense or shall I say compassion for someone who is near death! He was moved to PCU 2nd floor and has been an emotional rollercoaster ever since! He had a outpatient procedure completed and was sent home and how he wound up in ICU was with complications from this surgery. He has a blood clot and a stroke that they have recently diagnosised. I call well shall I say “try” and call the nurses station with 50% of the time someone answers. I asked the social worker and nurses to please give me a heads up for discharge because the last time he was in the hospital - they gave a 30 min notice and his immediate family including myself live over 500 miles away! The social worker gave me some BS excuse and I told her I was not having it because he would be in this situation in the first place if he was given the proper care on March 1 and kept overnight 1-2 for observation based on his previous medical history . If you provide “personable high quality care for each patient” please explain to me why you did give him PT, Speech ,etc because he would not wake up but yet he is being discharged when he is not well enough to know where he is, not speaking clearly and was on IVs a few hours before !? I have appealed his discharge so we will see! If I could have changed one thing it would have been to NEVER advise anyone to receive care this is so called hospital . They do NOT care about the patient ! All we asked is to try and work with his immediate family who again live 500-1,000 miles away . He lives alone! He can not even use the bathroom alone or is alert enough and of course you want to discharge on a Friday afternoon when no one is ever around on the weekends! Trust me, I know I am in this profession myself - like I told the social worker who was helpful with some stuff but BS’d the rest! If I could rate this place a negative I would! The people that gave this place good reviews probably had great insurance unlike many who are on the states medicare of which plays a major role in your cAre!! Hence, the reason why they are wanting my uncle out the door - no personable high quality care there! There were several nurses in ICU who I would like to personally thank and hope you recognize them : Cythina Rodriguez Ron (did not catch his last name) Alex (did not catch his last name)

I had an emergency surgery there and the service was excellent, the nurses, doctors and all the team were over the top with their care, Emergency room was fast, and they where caring. I would recommend it!!!!!!!

You may get in quick but you sure won't be helped quick. I got put through a CT scan (pricey) and was told what was wrong but didn't give me the antibiotic to fix it or the shot to alleviate the pain. The Dr. came in at the last minute and said oh wait before I send you on your way do you need a pain pill to help with the pain. I have had a severe headache for 4 days. I didn't want a pill I could go buy over the counter for 2 dollars to the 20 dollars I was going to be charged at the hospital. I go out of my way to Sanford Hospital because at least I know I will get the help but because I could barely drive I went to Orange City NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!! If I won't take my own child that is saying something!!!!!

. Wife Went in for emergency surgery. Had a high case of bleeding out and dying on the table. Was forced to go into work that very day as well or lose my job (Giovanni's restaurant). Try to give a phone call to the nurse's desk and customer service there. I Couldn't find out for 4 hours if she was alive or dead.. once was told "there not here anymore"

I went to the hospital on Friday night as I was feeling pain in my left chest and nurse on the phone advised me to go to the hospital. The guy who treated me first was very nice, he did some quick test to figure out if I am in any danger of getting heart atttack and then he asked me to wait in the emergency waiting room. I guess as my case was not serious therefore I have to wait in the waiting room for 4-5 HOURS but still they could have let me go if my case was not serious. The only complain I have is that they took a lot of time to treat me though I wanted to go back to home if I was not in the emergency. Everything else was ok and the doctor Paul Jarczyk who saw me was good. I agreed with Donna comments that there was a nurse there 'Karen' who doesn't look like that she like her job. - Muhammad A. I was there on October 2 for dizziness and extremely high blood pressure around 1030am. I was triaged got an ekg and in about a half hour brought to a hallway bed. The only time i met my nurse was when she was taking out an iv and discharging me around 3:30 or so. I had a per diem nurse work on me around 1:00 when she finally got blood work and gave me an iv. Not once were vitals taken on me while I was in the hallway or when I was discharged. What kind of training does your staff have that basic healthcare and nursing go out the window. I am appalled and feel like i wasn't even treating or no one took the time to even talk with me while i was there. Would never go back.

Worst hospital ever. There’s been more deaths here than any other hospital in the world. I went in there because I was having chest tightness and clearly hyperventilating, and they told me it was because I was breathing in stomach acid. I went to my regular gastronologist and he told me that was the funniest thing he ever heard in his 35 years of working. Also, whenever it was time to get my IV I asked them to do it in my hand, and they said “No I see a perfectly good vein here” & poked me 6 times without even FEELING for a vein. The 7th time they got it ONLY because i insisted on my hand. The doctor I saw was terrible. She walked in on my changing into the gown and whenever I said give me a second she said “It looks like you’re almost done” and refused to walk out until I yelled at her and told her to leave. Don’t take ANYBODY to this hospital unless you truly hate them and want them to die. I went to Florida Menorial Medical Center hospital the next day and they gave me medication for anxiety which helped a lot.

My wife has been here since Dec. 11th 2017 because of pancreatic cancer and has my complications from the whipple surgery. All in all, all the nurse's, doctors and staff are all professional.

Jasmine Jerome

Everytime I go here it's always a terrible experience. I have finally learned my lesson to never go back. They had no idea what was wrong with my mother, instead of trying to figure it out, they told her they "think" its something and sent her off with medication. They did not try their hardest to help my mother who was in terrible pain. And when I asked for a doctors note since I missed work and was there for 6 and a half hours they said no because I was not a patient. Meanwhile, when we asked the nurse for the note she said she would write me one and never did. Incompetent!

This Hospital really sucks I brought my wife here cause she has bronchitis and they did nothing just gave her some scripts and send her home. I'm done with coming here every time we come here they do nothing I have even brought my two year old daughter that had her umbilical cord was swollen all the stupid Doctor did was she has a bite they did not check her out or ran tests to find the cause.

JELLO 5

I just have to say I really appreciated the staffs help, they all were so super lovely and made me feel welcomed. The ER , 5th Floor and especially the doctors . Thank you for making myself and my husband feel welcome. Great Experience

Patti Dawson

Worst st ever it seems they try to run this healthcare facility like a financial institution, it comprises patient care ,they have unqualified personnel making important health desicions they have no universal precautions policy or they don't use them ,this hospital spreads mrsa and they don't even care they hide lab results and treat patients like they did something wrong. I will be contacting an attorney as I feel very violated of my right to be treated even if I didn't have copay ,I could have died with infection in my blood but I came back 2 days later and I was going sepsis.Everyone that took care of Me in the Er. Should be fired and everyone else needs educated on infection control or better yet bulldoze the entire building and start over

K Mack

The worst hospital. I waited for 3 hours and not even a hello from the nurse who would be talking care of my 2 year old. So we left...Do you think anyone greeted us as we simply made an exit? Nope no one said a thing...The staff just doesn't care. Wouldn't recommend this hospital to a stray dog!!!

David Black

My wife went in after having weight loss surgery. She told them she had just had surgery 3 days earlier so her stomach would have only held 4 oz. This it’s common knowledge. They wanted to do a CT scan and gave her 24 oz of contrast solution to drink. Even simmering that is bad at math can tell this physically could not happen within the hour the doctor wanted. My wife sat in horrible pain while the doctor did nothing. Plus after they did the CT scan without the contest. We learned 3 years later there was a broken vertebrae THAT THEY NEVER TOLD HER ABOUT!!! We found out because another doctor wanted to look at the old scan. Don’t don’t don’t go here if you want to live.

Aapiinc Ostoyic

Took a little bit to get taken back. But after that we had a nurse caity that was awesome. Very attentive and caring !!!

William McKinney

I recently had an epidural In my back. The doctor was Dr. Waldbaum. The staff that assisted him in the procedure room were great, But the nurses who set u up for surgery are slightly rude and not very talkative. Now I know they r not there to make friends,Butt it wouldn’t hurt.

Andrew Langford

My son ran a high fever so we took him to the er. After waiting 3 hours, I finally made it past triage and into...a hallway. A gurney in the hallway. Still no Dr. Not even a nurse.

robert hopkins

I really enjoy the staff. They really know how to work together. Pretty expensive even with insurance. But I saw 2 doctors and had 2 nurses right there with me. Awesome job today! Made it worth it.

Mary David

This is the worst hospital ever I came in was left in er after know my problems with 104 fever for three hr with no help. After I told the was calin my Atturney the admitted me and ice me to lower my fever. I ended up in ICU for 4 days. They then transferred me to ormand Thank God. When going in for heart surgery anasepologis had to tell me my doctor from fish almost shuot down my liver causing legions because she had given me so much toroidal so frequently I would have die with in two more days of treatment. Sadly I would not ever return to this HP after checking my self out when transferred back to and tried to do again. Do not take anyone in your family here. May god be with u if u do go here.

Phyllis Layport

I was able to get in to see Andy the PA very quickly and he was totally professional and put me at ease. His CMA Kelly was also very professional and such a kind and caring person. If ever I need their services in the future, I will assuredly go back to see them. Thank you.

louis arias

The sleep center is very inefficient. Personnel is friendly but nothing gets done. I had to my sleep study several times and could not get my supplies because repeated requests to send documentation necessary for insurance purposes were continually ignored. DO NOT go there. One star is too much. These people deserve negative stars.

Wendy Baril

Omg dont even bother with this ER. What a horrible place and horrible Doctors! Never been treated so badly. Had to leave and seek care elsewhere, really too bad no one seems to care how these Doctors are treating people. Should be investigated for sure.

Jade Neese

The ladies at the front desk are always very rude for outpatient services. I wouldn't come here ever except that this is the closest lab that accepts my insurance unless I want to drive another 30 minutes. Donna is always extremely rude.

Was refused any medication to get bones put back in my face and my ear put back together, given no anti-biotics and the horrible stitch job they did; came out hours after leaving hospital from just turning my head. Will be writing their board of directors and following up with many other complaints I have. One nurse was very polite and hospitable; when another referred to me as a "junkie" and a "waste of time". Mind you my ear was almost completely ripped off and bones were showing out of the side of my face. Their complete disregard to preserve human life is sickening and they should be held accountable for their horrible staff. Fish Memorial Hospital is by-far the worst "Hospital" I have ever been too. They are only concerned about making as much money from each patient as possible and not their level of care.

A Kafka-esque nightmare of waiting, miscommunication, threats and CYA lies that permanently turned me off to Fish, next time unless there's gushing blood I'll take the extra 15 minutes to drive to Sanford. My daughter had a febrile seizure, common I understand, in a panic we called 911 and took her to the ER. Staff was good until daughter's flu swab and urinalysis came back fine. Doctor said I quote "Your daughter's seizure was atypical, so I'd like to call around for 'advice'." Ok, sure, call for "advice", why not right? Doc didn't say ANYTHING about a transfer, which would have got any two adults attention, I don't care if it was 1 AM (at this point we'd been there 5-6 hours. This was doctor Kelley, or Miller, or maybe Doctor Kelley Miller, blonde with glasses. Later a nurse (also blond with glasses, won't slime the wrong nurse so no names) said they're going to transfer my daughter to Ormond Beach, which is an hour and a half away for an indeterminate period of observation and tests. I said: "Wait a sec, we didn't agree to that, nobody even mentioned this." The nurse says it's already been set up, prior to our consent, prior to even being informed. She says: "I thought it was understood that's what asking for 'advice' meant" and then immediately led off with refusal at this point from us would constitute neglect on our part. Wow. I have stepped on my crank with people before, but if you REALLY want to burn your bridges, lead with that. The doctor comes back and tries to "assuage" me and wife, which meant offering an insincere apology and an overwrought guilt trip. "Your daughter's life is in danger! I love my daughter more than anything but this was border line hysterical, at best, even my normally overprotective wife thought so. If they’d played straight with us, said they were going this route right off and told me this was relatively routine and played down my fears instead of playing them UP and making it sound like they were just going to do whatever they wanted to my daughter, however long they wanted, and me and my wife were going to have no say, then they could have won me over with little effort and alot less grief and you wouldn't be reading this review. Wife and I both let them know we thought they sucked, and I thought they were just doing all this to bill the insurance for all it was worth. At some point Rick, the nurse leader came in, asked me how I was doing, and I told him as friendly as I could at that point. He went and got the department head (maybe the vice department head, you'll have to forgive me with names since it was 3 am at this point, and I couldn't get the name out of their desk when I called back so I want to at least give Rick credit.) We told him how things were, and he at least owned up to the miscommunications and didn't talk to us like we were idjits, I found both him and Rick more honest, which was appreciated. So, I said, ok, let's make the best of this bad situation, it's 3 in the morning and this is happening, so get it over with. The upshot of all this was at least they transferred daughter to Orlando South, which was great and ALOT easier to get to (I had to run back and forth as I've got another kid at home MIL was helping with and at this point everyone was tired and covered in puke from daughter's stomach bug." Before they transferred daughter, problem nurse came in and pulled a CYA by lying to department head that they had told us up front they were calling about transfers and this had somehow just slipped by both parents with a shrug. Yeah, sorry doc, wasn't paying attention, too busy doing Candy Crush, right? *sarcasm*. Daughter was discharged about 12 hours later, no problems, no issues. Lesson learned. Don't give an infant with a mild fever a hot bath, and prepare to lose all consent if you take your kid to Fish Memorial. .

They trespassed me all because I kept trying to get medical records and the lady in medical records was afraid of me, and I did nothing wrong.

Very caring, wonderful staff!! My husband came for an emergency visit, we had no waiting on Saturday morning of a holiday weekend, and were set up immediately. Well, maybe it was five minutes. Our nurse Michael answered all our questions, was proficient, upbeat, and took really good care of the equipment in the room. He inserted a needle (without causing pain) for the blood tests with total ease and confidence. Dr. Moses who was our doctor there, handled everything for us, answered all our questions, discussed the results of the CT scan and our options, and even tried to set up the next consultation for that afternoon with another doctor. He was absolutely TERRIFIC!!! We had a very positive experience at this hospital!!!

I walked in to the ER at 7:30 pm 1/28/18, the staff that met me at the desk was very friendly, the Triage Nurse was very nice and personable. I was taken back and I had Nurse Greg, hands down he was the best Nurse I have ever had, he was very kind, informative, listened to me, not talk over me. Greg is definitely one of a kind, he has the best bedside manner, he prayed with my husband and I, he truly was sent from above to take care of me. Thank you Greg, I will never forget you and your kindness.

Very happy with my visit here. The facility has improved greatly since changing to Florida Hospital.

I had a procedure on 8/13/2019. I want to compliment the staff in the Endo Dept. They were wonderful, caring, knowledgeable, kind, very helpful and just plain great in every way. They were Nurses: Meg & Ziada; Nurse Manager: Jean; CRNA Lisa. In recovery they were Manager: Dawn Asst. Nurse Manager Dottie; and Nurse: Lynn Ann. Thank you all.

Recently visited fish memorial ER. Response time was exceptional and proper treatment administered immediately. I was admitted within the hour. -Only thing was they didn't have enough treatment at the hospital and had to order more from somewhere I was told in Tennessee. I was told this would be an overnight delivery and given a very specific time frame the medicine should arrive 9 pm the next night. I waited in the hospital suffering for 3 days before it came in. -Most of the nurses were great. One of them was not. She was exceptionally rude and there was a huge language barrier. I am NOT racist but she explained she was from the Dominican republic. I explained I used to have a room mate from there and was familiar with her accent. Despite the fact that I speak some Spanish and lived with a man with a heavy accent for almost a year the language barrier was significant. Multiple times while expressing concerns and symptoms she would clearly not understand what I was saying and gave completely unrelated explanations. Why is someone like this attending to someone with a potentially fatal illness?!

They do great work. But don't do many advanced treatments for Cancer.

Albert Centeno Jr

Haha, this place has more than 1 star?? I don't understand how, I've never met anyone, especially in the Deltona or Orange City area, that has had any better of an experience than me ---> terribleeeee. When I say I haven't met anyone, I mean no family, no friends, no acquaintances, heck I even know many first-responders and they themselves would not go to nor would recommend family or friends or even homeless people to this hospital. Most people just drive over the Bridge and head to another one even if they're in a dire emergency. The going reputation is that if you go to Fish Memorial Hospital, for anything that is, you will probably die. Not to say that the staff does not do their best, I know employees there personally that work very hard, but maybe they lack resources from upper management or something. I say don't risk it use another hospital.

Philip Freedman

Excellent emergency care, excellent surgical experience, excellent post op and inpatient care. Even the food is far better than expected.

Is this a hospital for fish or people???? I have a very sick fish and he needs help someone pleas help me find out thanks !

Miriam Huther

Went in thru ER less than 24 hours of arriving in Florida on 9/8/16. I am a kidney transplant recipient and type 1 diabetic and 100.5 fever. After finally getting labs drawn 5 hours after being put in a room my blood work for blood bacteria was contaminated. Today I'm sitting in another hospital at home for 2 and a half days because all labs needed to be done. I could go on and on about this hospital. I was to be admitted but signed a AMA so I could leave and not be under their care.

Took my 86 year old mom in for extremely high blood pressure and flu symptoms. Everyone was super attentive and treated her so good. It's hard to make her smile and laugh considering she has dementia, her nurse Paul was amazing with her made her smile. Thank you Paul and Nana for treating my mom so well. This hospital has come along ways. Keep up the good work in treating patients as human beings and not just a dollar sign.

The Er department is very quick to label you as a pillhead. I went in to Er with possible torn ligaments in knee. So the pa there Brandon Doane read my history wrong and said i was just in there on the 8th of December for my foot today is the 19Th of December and got tramodol for my foot, so he sent me home with 5 lorcos. The date for my foot was in 2014 but because i guess dates were close he assumed it was a week ago instead of a year ago so now They pretty much didnt give me much because they thought i was a pillhead. Thanks alot fish memorial.... they should pay better attention to people n history before they assume they know you. Oh n thanks alot to all you low life pillheads out there ruining it for people who are really in pain

Almost the worst hospital I've ever been to. Avoid if possible!

Paulette Simpson

Went to ER by Ambulance, had no one to take me as i am from out of state. Pain was the worst i have ever had went from 5- 6 in the beginning then to off the chart could sit for a few minutes then it would get really bad when i tried to move told nurses at hospital that pain was 8-9 most of the time then got really bad they logged it as moderate pain , gave them all my pills and list of what they were and how often i take them. Dr came over about a half hour after waiting in hallway asked a few question ordered x-rays and bloodwork never listened to heart or lungs ( one of my problems other than back was bronchitis) after test nurses gave me morphine, muscle relaxer and an antibiotic , pain only got worse then about an hour and a half nurse gave me another shot or tremidor for pain since the morphine did not do anything told me syaticia and bronchitis gave me scripts and told me to go home ( never saw or talked to the doctor again) and take it easy for three to four days, also told me to continue all meds when I left the hospital blood pressure was 95 over 59 I take to blood pressure pills before bed . What would have happened if i had taken them that night as told to with my pressure being low??? It has been over a week and a half and I am home but still in pain can't wait to see my regular Doctor. Would not send a dog to this hospital the only person that seemed to care was the nurse. Still blows my mind that they wrote moderate pain. Ten years ago broke my wrist in two places with a spiral fracture to the elbow and did not go to the hospital till a day and a half later it did not hurt like i thought a break would so I thought it was a sprain, then i hit it on the banister playing with the kids, Dr said that when i hit it on the banister i set it they put a cast on it and said if it hurts take an aspirin as you have a very high tolerance to pain . Eight hours in the ER Hallway and only a nurse to care for me.

Noel Holland

Every time ive been there they didnt take me seriously at all. I went once for stitches after I cut my hand open.. I was holding a dirty kitchen towel to it from home for an hour before someone came in to clean it. Doctor said he was really busy and hes going to use surgical glue because its "not that deep". I get home and it came right open. The cut was so deep I still have nerve damage over a year later... And its "not that deep". I also went there for the stomach issues ive been having for almost two years now. I went there twice for it and they sent me home without doing proper testing whatsover, waving me off saying its IBS. I dont have IBS. I only have share of cost Medicaid and the hospital is the only place that takes what I have. Im 20 years old and had to find a specialist to help me, and im paying for everything out of pocket due to this hospitals incompatence and refusal to find out whats wrong with me. My dad died from rectal cancer and so did my grandma and great grandma. Now I can barely afford to live due to paying medical bills. Thanks for not taking me seriously. Oh and to top it all off... Their severe incompetence made me go into collections for NO REASON. I had insurance during time of visit and called each time I recieved a letter saying I owed to update my info, and they said they had it. Apparently they did not. Now im sitting on hold for over 30 minutes just to speak with someone about this. You guys really suck. Only go here if you want to waste your time and be spoken down to for even going.

the best medical facility I have ever been in or visited! Every employee really cares about you and your health! Amazing. Priya is the very best nurse! Thank you all!!

Bad experience, I don’t likes the doctors lies the contradicted each other’s, but the nurses are really friendly and due a great job

My 80 year old father fell on Friday (before the hurricane). He hit his head and shoulder. He lost consciousness for a brief time. The hospital did xrays and cat scan, put a sling on him and discharged him in 3 hours. He has a broken arm and extensive bruising around his left eye and forehead. They told us to follow up with a specialist. The only thing they said about his head i jury was that there us no bleeding on the brain. He still has difficulty walking and balancing. He can not do anything on his own. It was obvious they just wanted us out. We've been there before and They take 4 hours just to take and review a cat scan. The nurse was nice, but they did nothing for the long term medical needs. We will never go there again. Central Florida Hospital is a few miles away. We have an appointment with an attorney.

Prepare to get reamed to the tune of at least 2K per ER visit, be it kidney stones to bronchitis. If you're out of options, then I guess anythings ok. Last time I came in for stones, it took 9 hours of pain and waiting before they finally wrote me a prescription. Had to practically beg one of the nurses to get something light in the short term. Pray you get sick/injured on a slow night

Lorenzo Holley

This is the same hospital that was fish memorial only difference is the name of hospital.. the nurses are still rude and nasty.front desk lady slow and rude they let several and by several I mean 11 ppl get seen before me. Mind you I’m there for Cronin chest pains gastroparesis weak pain. Noticing everyone going in front of me really angering. So I asked is there a certain way-people getting called the front desk lady continues to roll her eyes n give big gasp of breathes not wanting to do her job. So I then get mad leave still not being seen because yet a twelfth person went ahead of me. Never got checked and going to another Er that emergency room might be remade remodeled but that’s all that changed it’s still an horrible hospital

I called trying to make an appointment for an MRI of the knee. Was not able to schedule an appointment because I did not have a certain code took me almost an hour to get the code I needed due to the Dr being busy. I called back as soon I got the information and was asked another question that was not on the script and was almost not able to make my appointment AGAIN explained to the lady I was speaking with (did not say her name when answering the phone) that they should be more specific on what they need in order to make an appointment did not make my appointment because I was offered a Friday the first time and then offered a later appointment the second time. This was very frustrating seeing that I am in pain. last time I call here for an appointment.

I cannot believe the dr knowing i had no bp meds wrote me no script for one. What am i supposed to wait until june 4 when my next appt is scheduled? I'm really trying to do the right thing for myself for once in my life and now this bs. And he calls himself a dr. What a joke.

I have a few very bad experience with this hospital. My daughter was sick and had some pain. Her doctor told us to go to the emergency department to get it check. I had no choice but to bring her to Fish Memorial. Worst place ever! Nurses are too busy talking to each others and gossiping about patients. Doctor don't listen or care and misdiagnose patients. Should of drove the extra miles to Nemours instead.

J C

Was here for 2 days, doctors were professional and explained everything clearly to him. Nurses were very helpful and caring. He was surprised by the great care provided at this location.

jordan carland

This is really not a good hospital. They are understaffed and their objective is to get you out, they have no interest in finding any underline issues. I feel the Dr. Is very unskilled. Just a flat out bad hospital.

Kaley Anderson

Though it was slow in the ER when we were there getting in was very fast. Test results came back fast and all staff was very friendly and knowledgeable.

Going on 4 hours in the hospital. Nurse Karli was great and compassionate. the ER however is grossly understaffed. I ring the emergency button in my sons room and the staff comes in 5-6 minutes later...Thankfully it wasn’t an emergency. I asked, at hour 3, why it was taking so long. They lady in one of the front rooms barely looks up from her cell phone and says. “He’s probably seeing other patients”. Glad I’m treated like a number.

G.J.B. Bi

It is never a joy when a loved one is in the Hospital. Today my Grandmother and Uncle were both admitted. I left knowing they were in good hands, the Doctors and Nurses answer your questions not like it's routine or your just another number, But here it's with compassion and care. Special thanks to Naty who went the extra mile to make sure that even me the visitor was comfortable too.

Michele Gunther

I was in there a couple of times last week. The staff there is amazing.i am now in love with Dr Newcomer I truly believe he saved my life and his care was above exceptional. Advent you could not have a better staff. Thank you.

Brian Wasilowski

Not only did they ALMOST kill me by messing up my surgery and not listening to me... Now the refused to remove something they put in me, because I did not have 5k to pay up front and that's with insurance... Dr. Office did not mention any of this... Tired of being nice. Avoid this place at all costs if you value your life and sanity..

Ursula Leonard

Gentleman at desk claimed he didn't have time to listen to me as I proceeded to explain what department I needed to contact.Said "I'm busy I have an emergency" rude place

Wish I never would’ve came to this place. I showed up at the hospital several weeks ago and was told I could complete financial assistance paperwork. After getting home, I explained to a woman on the phone that while my partner and I live together, we do not share bills because we are not married. She told me to put that I’m a household of 1 then, so I did. Pretty sure the nurse who took care of us wrote down that we’re a household of 2, without my permission, and when I called FA to ask some questions if the paperwork went through, suddenly Advent Health Fish Memorial knew that not only did I have a partner - but that she filed taxes, and what her age was. Now they’re wanting all of her tax info just because we’re dating and Mike, the guy from FA, says that if we “broke up” he wouldn’t need her info anymore. Sorry but the whole thing just sounds ridiculously fishy (pun intended). Going to be reaching out to a lawyer soon because this hospital is breaking patient confidentiality laws and I’m ready to find out why.

Adriana Batista

If I could give a no stars I would, my sister went to the ER because she wasn't feeling well unfortunately she doesn't have good reception at the hospital to communicate, even then when you are not feeling well you don"t want to be on your phone. I called the ER and was provider with her room number. I was transferred to the ER where i spoke to Shelby and the provider who was there at the time. I was told by them that she was on the "wall" for approximately 40 min but was not in her room. Shelby stated "she could have left" she also stated that she was going to be whipped off the wall because she wasn't in the room and she has been up for so long. After a few hours of having my husband drive to her house to see if she was there and knocking her home door with no answer my mother finally gets a call from her. The whole time my sister was at the hospital with a room assigned waiting in the waiting time being wasted and nobody at the nurses station could tell me if she was there or not. I believe the right thing to do if you have a patient with a room assigned and the patient hasn't been roomed is to check upfront with the receptionist and make sure the patient has left the building before confirming such thing. I know there a lot of patients who are seen daily and it can be hectic but there should be a protocol for those cases. Especially when a concerned family member is calling to check up. It avoids confusion and stressful situations.

Candice Thompson

I was admitted in Orange City Fish memorial for 3 days. The staff couldn't have been more INCREDIBLE. Every. Single. Person from the incredible, loving nurses to the hilarious ultrasound tech, to the OR Team, to the ER team. I can literally sit here all day and tell you how much I just appreciate every one of them. They treated me like I was their only patient. I had my own room, with a bathroom and a window. I had an allergic reaction to a med and I hit the call button, before I could even finish my sentence my door flung open and this nurse seriously FLEW across my room to me. I felt so safe, loved, and cared for there. I prayed to God to get my through this, I had NO IDEA how much He was going to bless me. You would be crazy to go anywhere else. (Unless you're a pain in the arse. Then go someplace else cause those girls don't deserve anything except RESPECT.)

Michelle Davis

Great place to work for great staff.

Been going to this hospital since it was built and I have had good experiences in the past but the last 3 have been horrendous. I brought my girlfriend to the ER in the middle of the night early December for lower back pain and dizziness. We were quickly brought in and put into a room. It was very very slow that night at the hospital which seemed strange. The doctor came in after a nurse (very nice lady) and seemed annoyed that we were there. He listened to about two sentences we said and starting to ask about the cramps she's having. We were there for pain not cramps and had just told him the symptoms which never included cramps of any kind. He continued to not listen and be kind of annoyed with us the whole time. Didn't run any tests and prescribed hydrocodone and ketoralak for the pain, recommended us to Dr Reed (Orthopedic doc who's is awesome btw) a few days later we saw Dr Reed who recommended an MRI of her lower back, which originally the hospital said they wouldn't get us in until February! After calling back myself and raising a little hell I was about to get the MRI order changed to urgent and they called us to come in that day, right away. When we arrived we we're told there were three people ahead of us that we would need to come back in 3 hours. Reluctantly we left and waited the 3 hours came back and then waited another 40 minutes. Best part about this visit is that the MRI technician told my girlfriend that she hadn't had anyone all day, that they were waiting on insurance approval.... So an urgent MRI needs to wait for insurance approval..... A very frustrating day. Our third trip happened right after Christmas. We timed it right so we would be there in the middle of a shift and when there are people there. Our nurse was awesome, the doctor although super busy was awesome but his PA was truly a piece of work. She started suggesting that my girlfriend has MS after only a minute or two of talking with her. So naturally we start freaking out and then realize that they have done zero tests on her. Then after all the tests happened we went 3 hours waiting for the doctor in the room. The doctor came in and he was very good but it seemed he was the only doctor at that time. So overall this hospital suffers from allot of issues. I'm sure they start at the top.

Why is this hospital so low rated?? It is literally the best experience I have EVER had with medical in my LIFE, I had an operation there and was kept overnight and it went PHENOMENALLY, every single person who helped me was Exceptionally polite, nice, and seemed to genuinely enjoy being there! It was more like being waited on in a 5-star resort than a hospital, I cannot overstate just how amazing this hospital is. Now I am not religious, but they had wonderful spiritual messages throughout the hospital that my mother appreciated greatly while I was in surgery and she was waiting. My Mother had an amazing experience there as well, since staff were constantly asking her if she needed anything and were kind and compassionate. Every single bit of my experience there was great, I don't know what else to say!

MARYANN Larusso

A measure of an emergency room is how it performs under pressure when busy. Once again a Florida hospital er has failed miserably. Been here with my mother for almost 3 hours, went in for evaluation, back to the waiting room, went in for an xray, back to the waiting room, went in for bloodwork, back to the waiting room. Had a truly horrendous personal experience with apopka a couple of years ago, now fish. Stay away from Florida hospital emergency rooms.

My husband & I were in a car accident & Dr. Witter didn't seem like he even cared. I feel like the rushed us to be checked out. My husband was& still is in a lot of pain. I'm very pissed about how we were treated if we ever have to go to an Er again we will be going to a different hospital for sure. O & my husband was brought in by an ambulance & he was there for a 1 1/2 before I got there. They didn't give him anything for the pain until he was there for 2 hours.

Alexis Mniszek

Ive witnessed two accounts here and have heard of many people gettin intections from this place. Mostly from unsanitary IVs. One person i know had a seizure across the street at Sonnys BBQ and was charged over $500 for an ambulance ride across the street. Ok. Next problem was he had a cut on his hand they were going to give him stitches. We requested no stiches and yet were still charged. Next account, came in on a slow day no patients around and it took 3 hours for them to do anything. Slow.

Carol Jayne

The staff medical team was awesome. They were right on top of things. They knew it was serious situation and got me in right away to see the doctor. Go to neighboring hospitals or any other hospital for that matter, terrible!! First mis diagnosed last year (ER DR said i may have pulled a muscle that's what could happen.. I went to deland er and immediaknew they were ovarian cysts that wereerupting ..drs here have no idea at all what they're doing)! then today not by choice I was taken by ambulance brought here for severe chest pains, shaking, nauseated, left arm is numb, shortness of breath, sharp chest pains etc fail to mention ambulance brought mre because it was the closest hospita.. discharging myself and going to a real hospital.. they're treating me as if i have indigestion (I TAKE NEXIUMS DAILY SMH) be super careful here... people who have lived here long enough know but those who don't know better STAY far away!

Went with uc and ibs issue cause i was out of meds. Having a flare up i was dealing with since monday. Went in nurse came in and asked which arm do i prefer for blood work. I said neither i dont f with needles. Then she began to tell me that i would respect to her i was the one that came in for help and i would reapect her. I didnt curse directly at her at all i made a comment that i was scared of needles. She flipped out on me so i left and walked out. Worse experiance ever at a hospital. WILL NEVER GO BACK!!!

Where can I begin to express how I feel with out crying❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️ the doctors surgeon ER staff nurses and staff for helping my fiance even down to housekeeping I appreciate everything you all did for him you absolutely cared for him around the clock for the times he has been admitted and it's been plenty

I Actually work for Advent Health at the corporate Office and unfortunately had a heath issue that I had to go to the ER. Advent Health recently rolled out the "Greater as a Whole" initiative. Its mission Is an Advent Health promise of caring for each patient as an individual - in body, mind and spirit. This was rolled out company wide. With a strong emphasis on treating people with respect and compassion. To make a long story short the staff in the ER from the person that registered me, to the doctors in the ER were extremely nice, compassionate, empathetic and very helpful. (They did not know I work for the company) It is nice to see the companies values and mission for the "Greater as a Whole" mission is truly a part of Fishes approach to caring for their patients. Thanks to the staff, doctors, and nurses for your dedication to patient care .

Richard B

Went to the ER. I told them, to nurses later when I received a room, to the doctor. I think I was having a reaction to my new meds. my blood pressure was 190, light headed, sick stomach, very bad headache, severe mussel aches, my left chest to my back mussels were hurting, could not sleep, etc they keep treating me like i was having a heart attack. The gave me nitro patches, heart monitor, tons of blood test, etc. They starved me for 35 hours. Did not eat or drink. I also did not have my reg. daily meds for 3 days. But they could give me stool softeners, and baby asprins. They were going to keep me another night. I told them I was leaving and checked myself out. The nurses also smudge a hourly list that they saw you very badly. They would catch up on it hours later, and complete all the hours missed. Better care would be given to my dogs at a vet.

Tori Goldacker

It was the worse experience I have ever experienced in my life. I was admitted for a week and several test were done with one of them “tearing” my colon. I kept having pain and went to the hospital several times and they would not listen when I told them it was inside my bottom NOT outside. Was given pain medication and sent home with hemorrhoid cream. This happened three times over the course of a month in a half. My fiancé At the time once I could no longer pass a bowl movement took me to the hospital in Daytona Beach. Within five minutes of a doctor that actually listened to what I said Examined me and told me that I was so infected that she could not even do a proper inspection. I was referred to a surgeon immediately and and was put on the strongest anabiotic‘s through an IV that they had just so they were able to get rid of the infection and the swelling to do the first surgery to correct the problems that Fish Memorial created and then continue not to listen to fix . Eight months later, three surgeries And a costly change in my wedding date it was finally fixed. Go to Fish Memorial if you want to be ignored and left to die.

Shane Munley

Be far the absolute worse hospital I’ve even been to zero communication... I spent 3 days here with no results told my gallbladder was inflamed and sludged up that it either need to be drain or taken out but they need to do another test (mri) took 36 hrs from the time I walk through the doors have chest pain not being able to breathe and in mote pain than you can imagine after the test finally came back after 7 hrs they wouldn’t tell me because the surgeon( who doesn’t work nights ) and then give you a 24hr time frame to get the answer... on day 3 after complaining constantly about not having results or answers surgeon came with the absolute worst attitude said there’s nothing wrong with my gallbladder and that I have something (can’t remember what he said because he told me to GOOGLE it) that it could be GI so to say the least I left on day 3 with no answers of to why I couldn’t breathe where the pain came from or what happened to me.... so I highly recommend YOU DONT NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!

Mikia Makes Memories

Not sure why this hospital just sent me a certified letter about me leaving their hospital with my newborn when they know me and my husband ended up taking her to Arnold Palmer !??? Arnold Palmer was a better experience and I wish I went there from the beginning! My experience taking my newborn here was the worst! My baby girl had a fever and I took her here to receive care. They disregarded all of my concerns and religious beliefs. They seemed to take their "miscommunication" out on me when they made the mistake to begin with. Their staff is not friendly. As a Veteran, I'm appalled to say the least. If you're a parent, don't go here. Drive the distance and take your child to Arnold Palmer who cares about the child as well as the parents. Lord have mercy!

Ashley Cook

I would give them zero stars if I could. They screw up surgeries and the patient suffers from it. They released my dad from the hospital even when he told them he couldn't swallow, saying it was in his head. So a week later, after he's dehydrated. they say come to the ER where we waited 7 hours before they decided to admit him. So that was another week in the hospital unable to eat due to a mistake they made in surgery. Then when he goes for a test they send him to another place that tells him to wait for the hospital to call and make an appointment. We live an hour away. They have no clue what they're doing there. So annoyed with them. My dad hasn't eaten for a MONTH because of their screw up and lack of practice. If you go there, may God be with you.

I have never been surrounded by such great care at any other health facility from the ER to her room. My mother was admitted to the 5th floor and she received outstanding care. We can’t thank the staff enough. They were attentive, knowledgeable, and had heart. The nurse that stood out the most to us was day nurse Kelly. She listened to all of our concerns, took the time to sit and acknowledge my mother as a human (not as a patient), and she had that heart I was talking about. Thank you all. We will only come to Fish Hospital now

Robert Caldwell

Took great care of me

Brandy Bates

I'm telling you people find another facility. I wouldnt want to bring my dog here. My Dad ended up out here because he had a stroke. He was put in ICU and the next day was having symptoms of another stroke and they ignored it for about 3 hours after my sister told them. My Dads gf told them and they had a stroke alert for his room. Theres no neurologist here and you have to do video chat. Then to top it off the cardiologist and neurologist dont agree on the testing to find out why he had the stroke. When he got took out of ICU, I was told I needed permission to stay with my Dad. Some of the staff is rude. I highly dont recommend this place. I'm hoping to have my father moved for a second opinion.

Theodore Thomas

I had surgery there, great hospital great nursing team they made me feel very comfortable surgical team was great. Recovery was very smooth. Thank you .Ted

I live 4 states away from this dump. Been receiving bills from them. Call them to tell them they are sending me bills for someone else with same name. I have not visited Florida in years. The idiot on the phone states. We can't do anything about it unless that person changes the address??? I said . your just wasting your money... The cocky little person said. Well they gave your address. I told her no they didn't. Do these idiots continue to treat someone. Don t bother to correct the address. And don't get paid. Spend money for stamps.now that's smart business....
