We had to come to the emergency room here twice in the past few days, and from the time you enter the door to the time you exit, the staff is absolutely amazing. They really care about and interact so well with the kids! We had a different doctor for each visit and each one was extremely thorough and took their time with us. I was so surprised by how long they sat with us to go over our reason for the visit, the care, and in explaining the after care procedures. The wait time was a little long but they make up for that in care, they really do. From now on this will be the only place we come for urgent care. Thanks!!

Came in at midnight July 31. Asked for sleeping accommodations. Was told not possible because social worker was not available. Sucked it up. After only two hours of sleep in the car, come back to room. Residents made rounds, but no professional came til 3 pm! The others that we are waiting on have yet to come, contact us or staff. Heard such great things about this hospital, but I am not seeing it. The residents and staff are awesome; the people who make the decisions definitely take their time getting to you. Now August 2. Other professionals finally came and spent maybe 10 minutes a piece with my daughter. Still waiting on transport and to know where she is going. Feeling frustrated is not even the words. Have to do better than this! First and looking like Iike my last contact with this hospital. Not pleased with services received at all.

I'd give negetive rating if I could. They are like BUTCHERS but instead cut your pocket , we were charged 2700$ as we took our toddler son as he had upset stomach and gas so he was crying real hard and we were visiting a friend's place in Delaware so we were a bit worried and we took him to this hospital as per their recommendation. They seemed total clueless about this simple stomach problem and did USG and x-ray and held us there for 3 hours in some sort of an emergency room and BILLED US 2700$ including emergency room charge of 1600$. Totally RIDICULOUS. BEWARE BEFORE YOU GET RIPPED OFF HERE.

The prescription hotline for behavioral health is completely ridiculous. My daughter has been a patient there for a few years. There always seems to be some sort of problem or excuse whenever I need to have any of her prescriptions filled. Several times I have talked to people in the office who have promised that the prescription would be called in only to find out later that day that they never sent the script to the pharmacy. I understand that I should be a bit more attentive to when her scripts are getting low but when the nurse is telling you the scripts will be there you want to believe they are doing their job. They have also sent the prescriptions to the wrong pharmacy a couple times. Several times (this night included) I am waiting for on-call doc to call me to see if they can send the script. I’m pretty patient. But I think after today I am going to start checking my network to find another DR. Sad because we really liked Dr Yost but we can’t deal with the disorganization and ineptitude of the staff. Very sad because my daughter has made some progress. But when she doesn’t get her medication she will be wide awake for 2 days, and I can’t stand by and watch her suffer anymore.

My experience was absolutely awful. My daughter went to Dr. Zapalla because she was getting extreme heart papultations. They made my daughter wear a heart monitor for 24 hours but she did not experience any symptoms, afterwards Dr. Zapalla did not really tell us anything about these episodes. She just told her to drink water and possibly breathe through it. I didn't take that for an anwser, so they recommended her to wear the heart monitor for a whole month, so she did. No symptoms occurred, and recently today Dr. Zapalla called because I made an appointment with her. Any other time of the month she did not call at all. With this doctor, there is absolutely no communication. Today on the phone Zapalla said that her heart sounded normal and that she should just drink water. I asked a lot of questions such as "what should we do now?." Her responses were absolutely horrible! She replied with "ummm welll... she can just keep wearing the heart monitor I guess. I mean like .. she's fine ... I guess... I can't really anwser your questions.." I decided to call her out on it so I replied "all you ever tell my daughter is to drink water? This is your field, you should be telling me the anwser" right away she got pissed and gave me an attitude. If you or your child is having a heart problem I do not recommend dr. zapalla.

This review is about 31 years overdue I had my spinal fusion for scoliosis here when I was 16 I'm now 47 I had the best experience ever my scoliosis surgery was a success also about three years prior to that my uncle father's brotherhis surgery was also a great success the staff dr. McEwen and dr. Mason who I'm sure is now retired or maybe practicing elsewhere did are surgeries the staff the hospital everyone was just so amazingly professional and awesome caring I could go on and on with this review I just want to thank everyone at Alfred DuPont 4 everything that they ever did for me and my family I am forever grateful to this hospital until this day I still refer people who I know have children that need orthopedic care to go here I now reside in South Florida many thanks to everyone at this hospital if I could leave a million stars I would they saved my life and my uncle's life

Never before had I stayed in a hospital where every single person was always smiling. We stayed in 3 West. You would come in, take care of my daughter and myself and often stuck around to talk for a while. There were so many of you, that impacted our stay. We see several specialist at Nemours and have been in for several procedures. The staff is always great and they're always very accommodating and understanding, especially with us traveling from out of state to come in. We some times travel twice a week to get our daughter there. It's worth it to us, we get some of the best care for her here. We've been to several "leading" hospitals in search of treatment for our daughter, we certainly didn't get the quality of care that we do here at Nemours. The Doctors are always quick to respond when I send an email, they will take their time and answer all of my questions and they take my concerns seriously. When I need them to call, they always do so. I know my daughter isn't their only patient, far from it, but they make us feel like she's always a priority for them. The staff is always very great with my daughter. They understand that the children are scared and will do anything it takes to help put your child at ease. We couldn't be happier with our choice to move her care to Nemours.

My son has many specialists here. We were sent here because he has a history of seizures and his temperature was running high. The Emergency Department was on the ball, had all of his blood drawn and swabs down and antibiotics administered within an hour of being there. My son was admitted and we (my husband and I) got to stay in the room with him during the night. The doctors, nurses, aides, and even housekeeping have been so nice and attentive to our son. He even got an early christmas present while we were here! I couldn't have asked for better more professional care!

From the parking to the lobby 2 second checkin..the guide to get you where your going...to the efficient ways they run... to the way they inform parents in english...to the way they are with the kids..to the school note they put in your hand without u remembering to ask.. they know u have big stuff on your mind...and they cover all the small stuff for ya;)

Waited over 6.5 hours for them to bring me any type of definite results of appendicitis of my child. 6.5 hours waiting alone no questions In uncomfortable hard chairs. As much money I'm sure this place probably has no excuse why patients parents or guardians have to wait uncomfortably not jus for an HR or 2 but for serveral hours!!!! U ask a question staff will tell u I will check on it and you won't see them again for 45 min to an hour. After getting out of ER, things went better. Communication was clear between doctors, nurses, plus including me in everything going on. I also noticed and staff claimed they are under staffed. They're medical staff is majority white. The "minority" That are employed at this hospital are cleaning, cooks, and valet and I know there are many qualified "minority" Medical staff capable of working here. I wonder why there is none but maybe 2- 3 in the entire hospital.

Horrible experiences over and over again. Continue to wait months for our daughter’s results and it takes months to get a neurology appt. I have yet to find a doctor there that takes a sincere interest in caring and treating children except for 1 doctor in the behavioral health area. UPDATE: I contacted the number for the patient relations department as indicated below. They listened to my concerns and said they would research and get back to me no later than 30 days. Still haven’t heard anything....

There are no words to describe how much I love Nemours. I was diagnosed with Thyroid Cancer, and I had to be referred to an endocrinologist. I was first referred to Dr. Doyle. he was awesome and actually referred us to another endocrinologist, Dr. Gannon. he is hands down the best doctor ever. Not only is he so amazing at what he does, he is so kind and genuinely cares about his patients and their families. He saved my life, and I just can’t thank him enough. He has referred me to the best doctors for my treatment. Like Dr. Berman, she was my surgeon. she was amazing as well. very kind and she is awesome at what she does, and my surgery went better than we could’ve ever expected thanks to her. The nurses, radiologists, and the employees are so nice at Nemours. they don’t treat you just like another patient, they really care about you and your family. I 100% recommend this hospital. This wasn't just because of the high standard of care it also came from a feeling of "genuineness" and honesty. This review is not for this medical facility as a whole. This poorly rated review is for one specific doctor and her incompetence. Dr. Rochelle E. Haas was by far the most arrogant, uniformed and negligent doctor I have ever visited. Her recommendations did not coarse with my symptoms at all. The attitude she held throughout my visit was very poor to the point where I felt talked down too. She claims to know me and my feelings better than I know myself. Her tone of voice and level of professionalism taken with me was the reasoning that this was by far the most horrific experience with any doctor I’ve ever visited. Even after I explicitly told her what she was telling me was wrong with me was incorrect and that her recommendations are not going to be beneficial, she proceeded to give me attitude and allow her humongous ego to get in the way of what was really necessary for me. Dr. Haas has an inability to be told she is wrong and thinks she knows best. She is overall very unprofessional and I would not recommend her to anyone looking for even half-decent health care.

I just wanted to give some props to NuMours/DuPont Children's Hospital....I had my first experience with them on Monday. I had to take my daughter to a GI Specialist. First, I called another Philly hospital and the wait is 3 weeks, called NuMours and they got her in on Monday! Second, I got lost, stuck in traffic and rain on Monday and was a full half hour late and they saw me anyway. Many specialist offices would have turned me away. The doctor took plenty of time with us even though we were so late. Unfortunately, we were having trouble with the insurance company with regards to the meds he prescribed (grrrrr!) This kind man called me back and talked to me another full 15 minutes at 9:30 at night regarding my daughter's symptoms and further research on the possibility that she is having a drug reaction to a previous med. I can absolutely assure you that with all of my experience with another children's hospital in Philly over the past 7 months that this would have never happened there. Moral of the story: don't believe the hype and gut reaction that most people in the area have to go to a prominent children's hospital. There are alternatives out there equally qualified and well staffed.

I had this hospital and its emergency room as one of the best. but it's not like that. My son arrived with a fever of 103 and was not given any medication. I had to ask to be given. more than 3 hours waiting for us to move to a room that is inconceivable, the room is not even half. If you do not have the capacity, do not receive patients

This is an amazing hospital with the most amazing people I have ever seen in my life. They go above and so far beyond what you would expect them to. They saved my sons life and I will never be able to thank them enough for the amazing work they do every day. For all the nurses and doctors I have been in contact with, you can tell they do what they do because they genuinely care for the children that come through those doors. It's not just about recieving a paycheck for them. By far the most amazing place I've ever seen for children who need help. May God continue to bless them and touch lives through them. My son shouldn't be here, but thanks to God and him placing these amazing people there, my son is alive and brings me so much joy every day! For those wondering the pros and cons of this hospital: Pros: Genuinly caring staff Top notch surgeons Rooms that parents can stay right there with their kids They encourage you to be involved in the care of your child Very clean When you leave there you know that your child was not just a number to them If your child was or is impatient, the nurses are great and do an awesome job. My daughter who stayed with me a good chunk of the time my son was in the hospital, they have people that volunteer that come around and would play with her or bring her little things that would help so much with keeping her occupied, if you have a toddler you know how hard that can be at times. I simply cant say enough about the dedication these people have to help get you through some really hard times, hospitals aren't exactly happy places all the time, but I can say they do more than you would probably expect. Cons: It's a huge hospital, it can take a little bit to find your way around I don't really have anything bad to say about this hospital, this place amazes me at what they do for children AND their families. My son was transported by ambulance from Chester County Hospital in West Chester on 8/6/18 with appendicitis (the local hospital felt it best since he’s followed by nephrology at A.I.) The attending ER doc and the PA literally poked at him and were ready to send him home because he was not a “typical” case and said the test he had done was not reliable. After arguing with them they finally consented to do another test...the exact same test that they said was unreliable. Turns out their test also confirmed appendicitis and my son had surgery the next morning. After the surgery the surgeon told us that if they had waited one more day his appendix would have ruptured. The surgeon, nurses, and other staff that attended my son were excellent! They are the reason the ER drostment is getting 2 Stars.

Horrible customer service; I have been billed for emergency services following a traumatizing event involving my child. Even after the state caseworker explained to the lady in registration that my insurance would NOT be billed for the examination because it was a STATE policy to check all of the children out after such event has taken place/reported. Not only am I attempting to pick up the pieces of my life and be there for my children, but I have a 750 dollar bill about to go to collections because your hospital refuses to honor what was said in front of several state employees as well as members of your emergency room staff. I work two jobs now and have called your hospital for the past 3 months and haven't received a return call from either your facilities or child services in regards to these bills. It amazes me how a CHILDREN's hospital could care so little about children, you'll bill a mother after state services assured your staff it would be taken care of on their end just to make a quick buck. I refuse to ever use your hospital again I'd rather pay the gas and go to Children's Hospital of Philadelphia

They saved my sons life and I will never be able to thank them enough for the amazing work they do every day. For all the nurses and doctors I have been in contact with, you can tell they do what they do because they genuinely care for the children that come through those doors. It's not just about recieving a paycheck for them. By far the most amazing place I've ever seen for children who need help. May God continue to bless them and touch lives through them. My son shouldn't be here, but thanks to God and him placing these amazing people there, my son is alive and brings me so much joy every day! For those wondering the pros and cons of this hospital: Pros: Genuinly caring staff Top notch surgeons Rooms that parents can stay right there with their kids They encourage you to be involved in the care of your child Very clean When you leave there you know that your child was not just a number to them If your child was or is impatient, the nurses are great and do an awesome job. My daughter who stayed with me a good chunk of the time my son was in the hospital, they have people that volunteer that come around and would play with her or bring her little things that would help so much with keeping her occupied, if you have a toddler you know how hard that can be at times. I simply cant say enough about the dedication these people have to help get you through some really hard times, hospitals aren't exactly happy places all the time, but I can say they do more than you would probably expect. Cons: It's a huge hospital, it can take a little bit to find your way around I don't really have anything bad to say about this hospital, this place amazes me at what they do for children AND their families. This hospital is THE BEST. I am emotional just writing this review. My son @ 8 months at the time was rushed to this hospital and me and my husband had no idea of how serious it was. They saw that my son wasnt doing good so they acted fast, rushed him in the emergency room and immediately put him in an induced coma for 2 weeks. His name is Joshua and he had caught a bad case of pneumococcal meningitis and had a stroke. They immediately put him on every antibiotic for all the forms of meningitis until the test results came back and they had the correct name of meningitis to treat him. They didnt wait and they didnt waste no time. The doctors in that emergency room SAVED OUR SONS LIFE and we are FOREVER THANKFUL! This happened in April 2009. Not to mention the great family oriented hospitality they showed family and friends who came to see him. AIDUPONT CHILDRENS HOSPITAL OF DELAWARE YOU ROCK AND GOD BLESS ALL STAFF ON BOARD. The review of this hospital is very strange due to the fact some doctors and workers are great and some are just lazy, rude and not willing to help. My son has been going to the endocrinologist here for about six years. The Dr he had was great but sadly he retired. He now has a new dr who seems nice but he don't seem like he reviewed my son's chart before seeing him. He does not seem to know what he is doing. I called to have a note sent to the Dr due to a question i had and one of the representatives who answered the phone had no phone etiquette at all. I'm not surprised because for 6 years she has lacked the ability to get things done or willingness to help. I asked for assistance with something and she quickly advised me it is not my responsibility, do it yourself. I quickly thanked her and hung up the phone. The endocrine department needs to have every phone operator receive a class in customer service. Very sad to continually have problems with the same people year after year. Again, some people are great and others just need to find a new job.

While there are some people in every department that are great, there are also some horrible flaws. If participating in outpatient therapy such as feeding, speech, occupational and so on, They automatically schedule weekly appointments with no regard to what else is on your schedule. As a disabled mom, with disabled/special need children, we juggle MANY appointments and sometimes we must skip a week or move to another day or time due to other medical appointments or illness. However, by the appointments being scheduled without consent, as soon as you cancel 2 you have broken attendance policy and are threatened with discharge. For this reason, I can NOT recommend outpatient therapies here.

I think it's disrespectful for employees of the hospital think they can be rude as hell especially night shift on 4/21/2018 working in Einstein cafe'. First off let me get this straight there's families here that are going through major hardship with their child's medical needs such as myself with my 3 month old son who had open heart surgery at 10 weeks old. Your job is to put patients and family first. It's very stressful with what my child is going through. You think you can be disrespectful and that's okay to add more stress? I am beyond disbelief on how the 2 employee's acted. You want to make side comments and laugh at me? Guess what I reported both of you, and I blasted both you on here. This is Dupont hospital, this is something I'd never would have expected would happen. I hope either your boss has a nice long talk with the both of you about how disrespectful you are. I love this hospital! We recently lost health coverage and were stressing on how we were going to afford to pay our of pocket for our son. I called pediatrics to obtain info on getting medical records and inquire about cost of a office visit and explained our situation and the nice gentleman(I don't remember his name, but wish I did) directed me to a family financial advocate within the hospital, Yoselyn Valdes. Let me just say that not only did she help us immensely in figuring out how to tackle the predicament we are in, she was patient, super helpful, funny and friendly! I felt like I was taking to an old friend! Thanks to Yoselyn and this amazing program, I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off our shoulders! I felt like she went above and beyond her job description and it's people like her that make the 25+ min drive there for every appt. worth every minute! Thank you Yoselyn!

Excellent, excellent care! With three kids, we've been going there for years for a variety of things. Outpatient care is great. ER is well run and efficient. Surgery is organized and meticulous. Labs and imaging on site. New hospital is GORGEOUS and state-of-the-art. It's what 21st Century American healthcare SHOULD be like: friendly, efficient, and effective. When my oldest turned 18 and we had to go elsewhere for care, we had a rude awakening: most adult hospitals in the area seem almost 3rd world by comparison - chaotic, disorganized, overcrowded, and understaffed. They really need to take a page from A.I.'s book on organization and customer service. When you're used to the best, everything else seems cut rate. Take your kids to A.I. Dupont. They'll get the best care around.

I give your doctors 5 stars. Your billing department and online payment system gets one. Totally useless. Have an account, cant log in, gives me my username, then tells me its invalid. 45 minute hold during the week to speak with customer service. I guess you don't want to be paid.

Set an appointment, called to reset-couldnt so kept it. Arrived, was told it was cancelled by me. Then they looked, oh, it was put back that day- it was cancelled 3 days ago by me. Knowing I didn't cancel it, upon further review a doctor cancelled it because the doctor had plans. There is a fee if I cancel an appointment in under 24 hours-for me though, not even a phone call to tell me not to bring my child down because the doctor doesn't feel like being overpaid. We WERE CUSTOMERS for a few years, never complained about the ridiculous prices and the endless bills for months over each visit. I have NEVER been treated as horribly for that much money EVER. We are just 1 family and us never going there again will not hurt the 'hospital' in any way, if it did, they'd just raise prices . As I look back, every single visit was some issue, I can't believe I put up with the lack of professionalism and endless bills for a single yearly visit. Im sure a witch doctor could be just as effective and far more professional than the McDonalds level employees working there

The staff at the emergency room and hospital did a fantastic job helping my 17 year old out. One lady in particular in the emergency room (Jodi). Did not catch last name but she made my son and I feel at ease with the back injury sustained from playing hockey. Jodi stayed by our son giving him pep talks. She used her son's injury (very similar) that you can come back. Jodi was able to get sons hockey equipment returned which is small in the scheme of things but went a long way. Thank you Jodi Thanks to everyone who was involved.

We went to the urgent care as our daughter is throwing up and sick for three days. They suggested to go to Emergency Room at dupont in wilmington de. After getting all the paperwork that was needed we drove to dupont. Got registered paid the huge service fee in the first 10 mins. Waited for an hour to be called on. After that they assigned a room. Nurses stopped by for the next two hours but no doctor showed up. I went upon to the desk to find have seen the doctor at the computer. Also she responded that only one doctor is available in ER and that is her. Seriously? At the ER in a huge multi million dollar hospital one doctor is checking on all the ER patients? Screw their service. Next time we are not chosing dupont.

Not only do they treat our daughter with a great manner, but all family members are treated great as well. All hospitals need to learn what duPont does. The medical field would be a whole lot better. My daughter goes to the rainbow module. The office over all is great! One HUGE thing that upsets me it takes FOREVER for anyone to answer !! And ohhh don’t ever leave a message because you wont get a call back. I called two days ago to get advice on my child’s diet and not one call back. Very disappointed this isn’t the first time. I don’t get why it takes them forever to answer the phone. I’ll be looking for another doctor if nothing changes.

I’m constantly been given the run around on scheduling my daughters appointments, they keep telling me to go to the mymours website to schedule, but no one calls me back. I have to constantly keep filing complaints and the neglect from AI with patient relations and I shouldn’t have to go through that every time!

Very bad experience in ER. Not even goin to go into details. Question them and get a second opinion. Dont put your total trust on the line and in their hands solely. Everyone was very nice, but the extreme tests were unnecessary. And he had to stay overnight and when he checked out they didnt know, just said it was a viral infection probably. And this happens alot according to them as we were told at discharge. Knowing this he should not have been put thru these grueling tests. Other symptoms should be relative to the tests not just trying to find anything or something. Very unnecessary. How do you keep testing with nothing showing positive as the child screams with each test. Heartbreaking. Praying he was not traumatized long term. I know we were very impacted.

Took my daughter there for a 2nd opinion... wow. I remembered leaving chop feeling very confused(great hospital as well) but there was big difference between the bed side manner. Dr Jennifer Ty really took her time to make sure I understood everything. I didn’t even have to ask a lot of questions because she was so thorough. Two student doctors followed along with and even they were great. It was worth the drive.

Not sure why they say its the best hospital?? Developmental medicine is a joke!! took my 3 yr old here due to aggressive behavior and hurting herself until she bleeds including trowing her head through glass windows and not sleeping. They're answer was to lock my 3 yr old in her room in the dark until she gets tired! Seriously? They even drew on a piece of paper to explain this like I was an idiot and did not understand they wanted me to lock my child in her room! Then they said that until she doesn't sleep they cannot help with behavior which they said could take between months to years! I stopped going because obviously for that type of help why would I go? Doctors also NEVER want to give you a prescription because they say insurance won't cover it which is a lie! You have to keep insisting and insisting until they make a script and then a prior authorization so it can be covered! Nurses in primary care don't even know how to do a correct prior authorization.. I have to be calling the insurance and doctors office back and forth to tell A.I what they missed on the form.. I basically have to tell them how to do their jobs due to my child's medication being denied because they are not property filling out the form..

The beautiful building, convenient parking, knowledgeable staff, videos for kids about what to expect for surgery playing, comfortable rooms, quality food with nutritional information, and most of all, the skilled professionals who communicated constantly, making sure families were informed about the care of the patients. My son just had Spinal Fusion Surgery for Kyphosis with Dr. Shah. From the moment we stepped foot in duPont over a year ago and up until he was discharged from his surgery, we have been nothing but impressed! Every person that has cared for our son has been professional, kind, and gone above and beyond their job. He had surgery on his 16th birthday. In Pre-op they brought him gifts! When we arrived to his room after surgery, it was decorated for his birthday :) Every person wished him a Happy Birthday and were so unbelievably kind to our son and our entire family. The staff on 2 West was unbelievable! During his stay they took the time to get to know him and did everything possible to make us feel comfortable. (Special shout out to his nurses Jess and Jen - Thank you so much for everything!) EVERYONE from the doctors and nurses to the dining and cleaning staff - they were all so very kind to us. The room was clean and allowed for us to stay with our son during recovery, which was extremely helpful. We cannot say enough positive things about our experiences with duPont, and highly recommend them to anyone that may be in need of help for their child. The worst ER department to go to, they will literally have you waiting for 3-4 hours they will act like they are going to see your child have you undress your child check temperature, weight etc. then after that have you think your child will be seen and you will just register and they will have you waiting for hours not caring about your child’s wellbeing infant and toddler they show lack of care.. I would not recommend someone to come in with a sick infant in their hands because they show no empathy especially if you are from another background i saw this lady was mistreated I honestly think it was because of her background it broke my heart to see such a thing like that people need to stop the racism’s already so for that reason I am rating this a 1- star from my experience here...

This place is worse than the DMV. It took one hour to get registered. They finally took my son’s vitals. Who know how long to get his xrays. Then maybe see a doctor. Hopefully the care is better this. But not sure given some of the reviews.
