The male security guard at the desk was extremely rude. I went down stairs to get some rest because the waiting room was very noisy. This guy yelled at me and told me that I needed to get up and go up stairs to the waiting area. While he was telling me this he had an attitude the whole time. I must say he was extremely rude.

I was at Jefferson neuroscience hospital for a spinal injection procedure on 9/25 /19 Maybe everybody was having a bad day but my experience from start to finish was terrible. It started off with them giving me the wrong location which made me a half hour late to my appointment but they informed me that would not be a problem my appointment was at 11. I did not get seen until 240 for my injection. I had three different nurses come in trying to administered me anesthesia that I opted not to take from the very beginning. The place was not very clean the desk was cluttered two of the nurses were talking about a patient in the next screen over which is only separated by a curtain so I could clearly hear them. The one nurse was bit by a bug that she out right announced in a semi sterile area. The anesthesia team bumped me for their last case that was receiving anesthesia so they would not have to sit around and wait for me to be done. I was told this by the intern so I know what is true. And the nurses that seemed pretty happy in the beginning did not even check with me for the rest of the three hours that I sat in that room waiting for my procedure. And at the end of my procedure I had to walk up to the desk for my just discharge myself. Not one person extended me the courtesy of letting me know that they were running that late they told me they were just a little behind. I should have received a phone call before I even came in if they knew they were running that late I would have opted to change my date. I did not have four hours of my time to waste. It makes me wonder do they talk about every single patient because they weren’t very discreet about it. Very unprofessional. Very discouraging

Jefferson Hospital you have some of the best doctors and nurses in the area. When are you going to put some money into redoing the rooms? You cramp 2 people in those dumpy tiny rooms and tell their family to spend the night in a waiting room with only chairs that are horrible. Quit being cheap and put some of the money into updating the rooms.

Excellent care for cluster heads

Worst experience ever was on the seventh floor and the nursing staff are bossy young and have known patient sympathy training, the accommodations for guests of patients are horrible and poorly kept would not recommend this hospital to a dying dog

I want to first make it clear that the physicians my daughter had were excellent (Dr. Farrell and Dr. Stanley Pelosi). It is unfortunate that I can’t say the same about the nursing staff on the 7th floor. My daughter was taken to her room on the 7th floor after a 7 hour surgery CSF procedure and left as if she could get upon and get what she needed. No one was there to explain the meds, the call button. In order to get attention, she had to pull her leads off to get the nursing staff. She immediately told them to get her mother (myself) from the waiting room. I started asking questions but the young nurse assigned to her was truly out of league(5/4). We were blessed to have Sophy that evening and it was a godsend. She was attentive, asked questions, attempted to get answers about the meds. She was litterally on top of caring for my daughter. It is easier to list the rest of the stay until 5/8 Day shift 5/5-5/7. Naomi is an excellent nurse. No complaints when she was on from 7-7pm and much anxiety wondering who was coming in during the evening. Night Shift: 5/5. - A woman named Cino or Gina. If she was skilled in the area of neurology, it was the best kept secret on Saturday night. My daughter was light and noise sensitive. Whenever she came in to check the drain, she announced it as though the Mummeers were coming which included verbal and lights. Each time we told her that the light caused headaches. 5/6. The most condescending nurse I have ever met. She was not engaged and again, wonder if she had any knowledge of neurology. She was not able to determine if the drain was in place and had my daughter assume a very uncomfortable position to look for it. The doctor came and informed her it had not moved. My daughter is a full figure woman who is quite active and successful in her career; however this nurse made the statement “do you walk at home”. The medical field leads in diversity and sensitivity training for medical staff; so I guess she missed it. 5/7. Ann was attentive and on point. She was responsive and able to answer any questions. Her bedside manner was very good. The discharge nurse on 5/8. She was a very honest young lady and admitted she had no neurological experience. We had many who encouraged us to use University of Penn; we chose Jefferson because of the doctors. However having follow up staff who are not versed or even care as to what is needed or necessary after surgery makes it difficult for loved ones to leave the relatives or friends alone in the hospital. Everyone cannot take off time to stay and often we like to think that they are in the hands of competent staff. As I read the reviews, I was amazed that so many echoed my same concerns. I could never recommend Jefferson on the merit of the staff on the 7th floor. All I can say is be an advocate for your loved one and if you can’t be there make sure they can reach you.

I’ve been coming to this hospital for over 10 years, from the beginning, in which a neurosurgeon saved my life from a ruptured aneurysm, and now dealing with Post Concussion issues. Every visit has been swift and the staff are always professional! For however long I live in the Mid Atlantic area, I won’t trust anyone else with my care!

It is very slow and I am waiting 4 hours and never even got in. I am at Wills eye. Also, people are getting in front of me when I have a bad emergency just as them.

Great nurses! But level 6 is gross and needs to be cleaned.

With God's Grace Consulting

I have been here going on a month. I have been watching the changes of my family member so that I can share the info with the doctors ( who gladly welcomed the info). Today I took a photo of my family member's foot to show the doctors that there had been a change. I innocently asked the head nurse Linda Russamano to look at the photo to gain her opinion but instead of giving me her opinion she threatened to call security on me and demanded that I delete the photo or they would confiscate my phone. HUH??? I offered no resistance and complied but I was confused so I cried the entire two blocks while walking to file a complaint with patient services. I met with Linda Pizzo who listened to the other Linda's side of the story before hearing mine so "shockingly" she did the same thing. She threatened to call security on me if I did not let her search and delete photos from my phone. HUH??? Once again the threat forced me to comply but WHY???? My photos were to help me understand his before and after changes. Nothing more. Why would I ask for the opinion of the head nurse if I wanted to do the hospital any harm? THANK GOD for Google backup! Yes! I still have my photos. After the attack they both claimed the photos were a violation of HIPAA. Ok well if that's true then why delete the photo of me in a skirt along with other photos that have absolutely nothing to do with the patient? And don't just threaten me with security when I have no idea of what I did to offend. I am now seeking the advice of an attorney especially since they never told me in writing that I was not allowed to take any photos. There are no postings and it is not documented in their "Patient Rights and Responsibilities" pamphlet. How can you punish someone who didn't even know that they were doing something wrong? The pamphlet states that we "have the right to know all hospital rules". I will also be contacting the president Mr. Richard Webster. These two ladies were extremely rude and very unprofessional.

I was transferred to Jefferson Neuro from a large Trauma hospital by my home in NJ after spending 7 days there, and had it not been for the doctors at Jefferson, not only would I have lost my sight, but most likely my life. I spent 3 months there, had 3 brain surgeries, and had a year of follow up... but 8 years later - I am here, alive. Dr. Dumont was the best, and now I see Dr. Jabbour, who is amazing. All the staff was just so super to me. It was a long hard road, and they were like family for me. Being 1.5 hour from all my family and friends, and having my mom being home very sick at the time... I was alone there a lot. It was tough. The staff was super, and though my case was tough, everyone was 150% for me. I will forever go to Philly for anything I need, and am always recommending them to anyone who needs anything. Take the ride, your life is worth it.

Came in for a same day procedure, woke up in the recovery area with a bug in my stretcher. Literally watched it crawl so I know it wasn’t the drugs. This place is disgusting, bad attitudes, nobody seems to like there job.

My son is a patient on the ICU some of the nurses are great several are not. He had a significant stroke from a AVM bleed they let his meal tray sit and when I ask they will say either he didn't want it or what I was told last night , "we were too busy to feed him" there one nurse name Monica refused to give him more juice or water until he ate food that he didn't like. When I confronted her about that she stated "he don't know what's going on your son's brain damaged" I feel like someone in our family has to be there for him to care that receive the care he deserves and his paying for. They make rude comments at the nurses station I've spoke to the assistant director nursing, left several messages for the nurse manager of the unit and spoke with 2 nursing supervisors but it still continues. My son is supposed to be receiving physical therapy at the bedside they put him in a Geri chair and leave him sit there for hours they don't try to have him take steps they don't do range of motion they don't provide any stimulation. He was complaining that he was uncomfortable because the chair was too small and he wanted to get back in the bed they said no that's your therapy. I had to reach out personally to someone I know in the housekeeping department to get him a bed extension and a larger Geri chair because he's tall .Patients in the ICU should be getting mouth care every hour but I have gone in several times and had to clean his teeth and scrape what looked like concrete from his tongue and mucus from the back of his mouth. I overheard the Charge nurse John yelling at a patient stating ," Ill respect you when you respect nurses." When he was on a vent and supposed to be suctioned they were claiming he was suctioned but the suction catheter was not even hooked up to the sunctioning device. Also there was the patient yelling for help the nurse sat behind the desk said you're OK and then about 5 minutes later the patient was receiving CPR. It is sad that we have to entrust our love ones to people who's ignorance and lack of compassion jeopardizes their lives. There are a few great nurses (Bryan, Lee and Dana) but unfortunately the negative experience outweighs the positive. I plan on going to the board of accreditations, the state of Pennsylvania, my son's insurance company, the hospital's VP of nursing and the medical director that oversees the ICU. As we all know people have cell phones that have videotaping and recordering capabilities, so who knows maybe somebody recorded some of these interactions and I won't be the only one complaining about it.

I’m not sure about all the negative reviews but I had a tumor removed from my head and had a great experience here. Nurses, doctors and all the staff were wonderful throughout the entire process and I thank God for them. They saved my vision and possibly much more. Thank you Jefferson
