My Mother went right in and was taken care of. Hospital workers were polite and helpful.. Emergancy room.

No good, long waits, understaffed, disorganized, disappointing . Try to avoid if possible

Jill Makatura

The wait there was ridiculous, took my 5 year old and was sitting there for five hours. They really need to hire more people.

Celine Soto

I was in an accident, waited for 5 hours then asked if there was an update on when I would be seen and was told by nurse Amanda “Still another two hour wait but you can leave if you want”. Who the hell tells a patient that’s been in an accident you can leave if you want? So yeah super unprofessional.

Anne Pikolas

The gift shop is pitiful, you should be so embarrassed. The ladies auxillary had a wonderful gift shop when it was Milford Memorial. Not sure who planned this but HE should be fired

Kathryn Culver

Avoid at all costs! I went in with appendix pain two months back. Waited 5.5 hours in the ER waiting room just to be seen. They did a CT scan and said my appendix was inflamed but “not bad enough to fix” so they gave me some pain meds and antibiotics and sent me home. I’ve been in pain on and off for weeks since then. Went to Beebe in Lewes on Friday, waited 15 minutes to be seen, was admitted to the hospital and had my appendix removed on Saturday morning. Best experience I’ve ever had at a hospital. If you need to visit an ER definitely stay away from Milford.

Darryl Rodgers

Sat for over 4 hours on a monday evening waiting to get stitches. Personnel were rude. Worst hospital visit ever.

Whole lot of flies I even had the chance to step on one...need an exterminator

I took my wife here because her blood pressure spiked, her extremities are swollen, she is very dizzy and is uncontrollably shaking. They were in a rush to get our info but after we checked in we were told to take a seat in the waiting room. Not a huge deal considering the waiting room was surprisingly packed for the middle of the day on a weekday. We are going on hour 5 with no updates or our any kind of courtesy check. Come to find out it wasnt the amount of people in the waiting room making it look packed, it was the wait times that backed everything up that packed the waiting room. We were surrounded by serious sicknesses and injuries, people vomiting to my right and bleeding to my left, some were in obvious excrushiating pain and some fell asleep. One guy was bleeding and sleeping (I think he was sleeping anyways) and nobody checked on him. The staff is rude, they truly dont care about anything but what time they get off and all I heard was "we dont have beds ready". When we went back to get her vitals checked there was numerous beds open. It was like a ghost town back there. I was extremely bored so I looked at the Google reviews and found that 5+ hours is the normal wait time here. Unbelievable. Should anything serious happen in the future I will take my chances and go anywhere else. Never again.

Great hospital great staff!

Paula Gillespie

Unprofessional, understaffed already, wait time was ridiculous and the ER bathroom was dirty the room we where in had trash on the floor, the tech was rude... They should be ashamed of their selves

Justine

ABSOLUTELY RIDICULOUS! My sister is in terrible pain, she was in a car accident and we have been waiting for OVER 4 HOURS TO BE SEEN...You would think with such a big hospital they would be more staffed. I would not recommend coming here if you have an emergency.

Beth Robinson

On Mother's Day, May 12th, my 96 year old mother was sent by ambulance from the assisted living home where she lives in Milford, to the new Sussex Campus hospital because her blood pressure was over 200 and she was complaining of chest pains. This was the beginning of the worst experience we have ever had at any emergency room. To begin with, even though we could see the ambulance outside the ER, numerous attempts to locate my mother inside failed, because they had not yet entered her into the system. She was brought in at around 4:50 PM and we didn't get to see her until around 5:15 PM. Even though she was having chest pains they did not immediately perform an EKG on her, in fact that was not done until 6:15 PM. They took only one blood pressure reading and did not continuously monitor her BP while she was lying in bed as is normally done. It wasn't until I asked that they checked it again. I kept asking when we would see a doctor and was told that they were very busy. I told them that may be true, but everyone else had walked in on their own, while my mother had been brought by ambulance. They did not draw any blood for testing until 6:30 PM and told me that we would see the doctor after he reviewed the blood results, which could take up to 2 hours. They finally gave her some pills to lower her blood pressure around 7:PM. We finally saw the doctor at around 8:00 PM. He did not examine my mother at all, just told us that the blood work was all negative. We asked him why her blood pressure had not been continuously monitored and he then realized that the cuff had not been properly installed. He checked it then and since it had come down slightly from the original 200, he decided to discharge her with her BP still at 193/78. She was released at 8:37 PM not knowing what had caused the spike in BP or the chest pains. I have had her to the old Milford Hospital and had never had a problem, but if I can help it, I will never authorize her to be taken to the new hospital again. Ironically, someone from the hospital called us the next day to see if we had made an appointment for her to see her primary care physician, as if they were now concerned about her condition.

Took my boyfriend in to the ER after he dropped a heavy piece of wood on a his toe and broke it. The facilities are very clean and beautiful. The staff were so incredibly friendly and the waiting room furniture was very comfy. We did have a long long wait after his xray, but there were several patients there that definitely needed a quicker response time than us. The nurses and doctor were amazing and did a fantastic job getting him cleaned up and stitched up. My only complaint was the chairs in the room they put him in. Felt like I was sitting on rocks. Otherwise, felt like I could absolutely trust the staff there to help, and glad I didnt have to take him to Kent.

Do not recommend going to the Emergency room they do not know what they are doing and understaffed

i have had nothing but very positive experiences at the new bay health hospital. the staff and the facilities have been outstanding. the cancer center is as good as it gets. overall i am more than pleased with the care i have received and the facility. we moved here from an area with a world class hospital but actually i feel far more comfortable at bay health than i did at the world class hospital in the area that we moved from. the doctors and the new facilities are first class.

Gibbs Lashay

Horrible I waited in the waiting room for 4hrs this is ridiculous

Could REALLY use the services of a productivity consultant in the ER... 3.5 hour wait and not seen yet... Been to many hospitals, including treatment in some questionable VA hospitals, and this one ranks dead last so far...

Pastor Troy G. Dennis, Sr.

My aunt was at this hospital as a GIP patient with pancreatic cancer and was also on service with Compassionate Care Hospice/Amedisys. The staff on the fifth floor that I noted in the letter that I wrote to the CEO went above and beyond and were very courteous, professional, and caring! This will definitely remain as our family’s hospital of choice! God bless!

Corrinna Wilkins

Staff so far is the best part of this new hospital and that's about it. Only thing that has changed is it's new and bigger. You still have a long wait even with chest pains and other things going on. The wait is ridiculous not impressed. Doctors come out to talk to patients in the waiting room in front of other patients. If you work here you get way better treatment and get in and out faster.

Mallory Mullins

This hospital would get a big fat F- and a negative star if that was a option on here. All that money spent from the tax payers money to build that massive hospital and they say that they don’t have enough rooms. I got there at 4:45pm with my 5 month old who was clearly in pain. They did give her xrays in a timely fashion but after that we were brought back out to the waiting area. Hours and hours go by and we were still out there WAITINGGGGG. Other children would come in and a doctor actually came out and assessed them in the waiting area and then got them into a room not long after. That happened 2 different times. At around 8pm I started to question what the hold up was. I told there were no open beds. So I waited. At around 10pm I was really irritated, I also had my 5 year old son with me who was tired and hungry and began to get restless. So I walked back up to the front desk and just asked if they could find someone to read her X-ray results they said yes and never came back. That happened 3 times with 3 DEFFERENT nurses. I then asked if they would please call me with the results. One of the staff said I would have to call and get them and the other said that they don’t give them over the phone. It got to be almost midnight and that’s when we had had enough of people being discharged and saying “ wow I can’t believe your still here” even the security guard said something. I get that there are some things that trump a 5 month old baby with a possible broken bone. But when you leave a baby in a extreme amount of pain for hours upon hours and have not 1 answer, it’s ridiculous!!! It would have taken less than 5 minutes to read my babies xrays and devise a plan of treatment. I’m mad I moved down here from new castle county because ai DuPont is the best hospital

Edwin Sam

Ambulance was the worst, the guy was absolutely rude! Got there and I was in complete agony and all the nurse said, we apologize but it's a 5 hour wait. They were absolutely a waist of space.

Michael Hauptmann

It's a beautiful complex but offers only limited care options. It is seemingly BADLY UNDERSTAFFED in the ER on weekends! During the week, getting someone to answer the phone in the Doctors' offices is a nightmare. The management tries to hide staffing shortages behind Voice Response Units that tell you that they will get back to you in 24 - 48 hours - on weekdays!!! Since moving here, we have stuck almost exclusively with Bayhealth - but we need to consider an alternative such as Beebe now for emergencies or a drive to Philadelphia for other issues. That's sad! We want to support Bayhealth Sussex - but it has to be a 2 way street!

Laurie Wilcutts

This is absolutely rediculious I've been here for here for 4and a half hours and still everyone that has come in after me and my son has been taken back and some discharged and we still are waiting I will never return to this hospital since they have moved to this new location it is so much worse when I would go to the old location I was always in and out. NEVER AGAIN WILL I RETURN TO THIS HOSPITAL

Jeff Merritt

Staff are fantastic. However, for a new building the security camera placement leaves a lot to be desired. No honestly..had the cameras be placed to protect the patient and staff. We could have seen who entered my room and stole my wallet from my bag. Apparently this is a problem...according to other staff members that I shared my concern with.

Thor Pup

Horrible experience should have never shut down the old hospital

Dawn Graney

My dad came into the emergency room last night and every single person, doctor - nurse etc that has entered his room have been very pleasant. We really appreciate such a friendly staff. The hospital was also easy to find and parking was easy - his room is really nice. Thank you for taking such great care of my dad.

Linda Iverson Iverson

Had a total knee replacement yesterday The staff is amazing they've been kind courteous They're helpful along with making sure I have eveything I need in being warm and comfortable. People are quick to write bad experiences . I can honestly say that my experience here has been a 10 out of 10. Thank you yo the staff at Bayhealth Sussex

Once Loved

Don’t use the ER you would be better off driving to a further hospital, understaffed and the staff that was there most of them were rude

Chad Zerrad-Hall

The er doctors are awful. They spent a total of 2 min with me and sent me home without any tests and come to find out I had mrsa. Then they sent me a bill for 600 dollars!

Natalie Jewell

My husband has been waiting in emergency department for over 5 hours. He's in terrible pain from a tore bicep. If your that busy or understaffed call in more help, there is no excuse!

Paula Enix

Dont even want to give one star. Been waiting 4 with my oxygen level at 93 throwing up and hard to breath with chest pains, doctor came out and said i would be called right back. I watched a broken foot come and go as a sprained wrist. But here i sit still can't breathe and throwing up and still waiting.

Darren Camper

Been in the waiting room for almost 4 hours..........4 hours. I am in healthcare and I get what a hospital can go through especially emergencies. However this is completely ridiculous and there is no excuse. Higher more people, have an attendant helping people move through the process. YOU ARE VERY UNDERSTAFFED. That is healthcare right? No excuse. Come check on people in the waiting room there are other people here waiting as well. Get your act together or no matter what kind of hospital you build will make a difference. GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER.

Laura Hannu-Eckrote

I brought my husband to the emergency department and received excellent care. I knew he was pretty sick but not critically ill. He almost died and I can't thank the staff in the ED and ICU enough for doing their part to save his life. He was flown to the University of Pennsylvania for continuing care and is now back for rehab and hopefully will be back home soon. I feel the staff throughout the hospital have been friendly, helpful and professional.

Hannah Ziccarelli

Terrible. Should have gone to a walk in. Went in with a broken arm. They splinted my arm so poorly that I had pressure sores and loss of sensation in my fingers. I was told when I came in for my cast 4 days later that it was way too tight. Now i have bills for well over 500 dollars. I could've wrapped it better myself and it would've cost a lot less. If this is human healthcare then I'm probably better off going to a veterinrian. I'm scheduled for more x-rays in a day, I will be cancelling that as the cast literally fell off my arm. I refuse to give them the chance to get anymore of my money. Build a big hospital they said...it will be great they said. The hospital isnt understaffed the nurses gather where patients cant see to talk about their schoolwork. So unprofessional!

Ray Eicholtz

They forgot to add Doctors when building the new hospital. Waiting in ER there was no movement for over 3 hours. Beautiful building does not help the community if they can't help you!! Need more staff to serve the area with quality medical help! Update: Been here over 6 hours and still not seen by a doctor. 2 1/2 hours in a room in ER with no doctor. Unbelievable Bayhealth, you call this a Hospital.

So i am beyond disappointed in the lack of caring from SOME of the nursing staff who work on Friday nights. I posted a review about being there with my 6 month old baby last Friday night from 4:30pm until almost midnight and her being in a extreme amount of obvious pain and no one giving us any answers. We ended up leaving and I brought her back Saturday morning. I was immediately seen at the front desk where the nurse looked at her xrays and said that they were negative. She then proceeded to say well you can stay if you want but I’m sure you don’t want your insurance to get billed twice. She said there’s nothing they will be able to do anyways. She almost had me convinced I should just go but I stayed because i could tell something was not ok. So we were immediately taken back. The doctor on duty checked her out. Saw she was in pain when her arm moved looked at the xrays herself. Still negative but she came back and twisted my babies elbow and it popped right back into place. So my 6 month old had a dislocated elbow and their nursing staff tried to convince me I should leave. Always go with you gut mommies

For being a new hospital, I was not impressed with the ER dept last night. I was called in for vitals, etc, and sent back to wait additional time. Then saw, I believe a Dr, I explained my cast was soaked after taking a shower, the bag had a hole, as I have Charcot foot cast is helping me. He said, they had to get a PA/room ready, and they weren't sure if they could put another cast on. My biggest complaint is the time I spent waiting 5 hrs, after that I decided to leave at 1 AM. Many others, like myself, were there for hours. I understand there may be some that come into the ER for more urgent care, but for those that have needs for less time could be handled quickly, and your turn around rate would work. Also, it appears the ER was possibly understaffed, once I was taken for vitals I should have been seen, not be told to wait. I think 5 hrs is ridiculous, and that's why I left. I think the ER dept needs more organization. For the record, there were zero urgent care. As I read other comments, Bayhealth seems to lack time control, and staffing. Dissatisfied!!

I just have to say my boyfriend had the best experience doctor Brett and his nurse were great they gave him answers and gave him names and numbers of specialist's

amber mikiten

we tried Bayhealth today/tonight with my son. I got there at 330. At 730 my husband got there. At 830 they finally took him back. At 10 they finally went into see him (6.5 hours after we were there) pushed on his belly which made him throw up, they didn't seem to care he got sick, and said it would be 3more hours to wait for an ultrasound then another hour to have it read. That's over an 11 hour wait. For a sick 6 year old who hadn't had food or drink really is too much. With potential appendicitis. I walked out.its now 1130and i just got home. Now i amgoing to take him to try and get an ultrasound in the am outside of the hospital. That's just terrible care. And I wont even mention all the things that we witnessed in the er at bayhealth (including a guy having chest pain that instead of keeping him in the back for observation they sent him back out into the wait area where he ended up having a problem and he had to be rushed back) so bayhealth is way out. We will never go back. And I dont trust or like beebe so trying to find someplace a little more friendly and that makes us feel safe, especially that can handle kids.

James Crow

My fiance been coming her for a couple months with the same stomach pains first they said crones disease then something else to there is nothing wrong so she said she wants to leave and ot has been over a hour what a crock

Tina Blevins

Once Loved Clothes Boutique

They have really screwed up by building this worthless hospital The ER staff is unprofessional, the wait time was over 5 hours, and once we did get to the back they tried to rush us back out with out checking anyone out the only thing they did do was one set of vitals. Bayhealth should really be disappointed with them selves, because I know I am

Sat in the ER for 6 hours with a dog bite on my hand where I sat for 5 hours with dog hair dirt and blood all over my hands and arms. They did unnecessary tests and xrays still without cleaning the wound to actually see what was wrong all with pepper work that says I have the injury on the wrong hand and describe a false injury because they didn't actually look at it and proceeded to soak my hand and send me home.. something I could of done this hours ago and not let it sit with bacteria and filth. Will not be returning

Sharon Alley

I give Katherine in the finance dept. 5 stars as she is absolutely awesome! Very understanding, professional, and will do her best to work things out for you! Very nice and I am grateful she was there that first day for me! I look forward to seeing her again and again every time I go make a payment! Thank you Katherine! Your special!

About 5:30 a.m. this morning (7/9/2019) we took a relative to the emergency room at Bayhealth Hospital, Sussex Campus. She had been crying all night for pain on left side of her abdomen, hence the visit. She was taken to room 15 in emergency and given medication for the pain, my husband and I left at 7:20 a.m. and I returned at 7:35 a.m. She had no pain at that time but was waiting to get a CT Scan. I left the hospital at 7:50 a.m. and kept checking to see how things were. Eventually she was taken to get the CT Scan. My husband and I went back to hospital to see what was going on with her, this was at 11:45 a.m. she was fully clothed, I asked if she was being discharged and what caused her pain. She said she had not seen the doctor since about 6:30 a.m. but the nurse (Stephanie) came in about 10:15 a.m. and said that there was a cyst on her right ovaries and the doctor (T. Cha) said she can be discharged. At 12:15 the nurse walked by and said I will be with you in a few minutes and left; at 12:35 my husband found the nurse sitting in room #12 and told her that my niece was about walk out. Her response was that she could not leave her post until someone relieve her. She then paged a gentleman (not to gentle), who picked up the paperwork from the desk which was in front of room #15. He came to us because we were standing in the hall at this time, and said well sign here you can go back to work tomorrow, script for pain pills; I asked again what caused the pain, his response “according to this she has a cyst…” you can check with your doctor. We left. I said all this to say that the quality of service and the kindness of the staff was much much better at the old location and they did not seem as stressed. Every staff member in the emergency room that we tried to talk to was passive aggressive. We’re so disappointed. Everyone seem to be caught up in the aesthetics of the Hospital and apparently the powers that be forgot about staffing and care.

I am never going back to Milford Hospital again.I was in so much pain and waited hours and hours to be seen. Then had to go back a couple of days later because they missed something..You can't get anything for pain because of what others are doing. I use to say this was my favorite hospitals but not anymore They will send you home in a minute only to have to return.2 visit and still in pain..so angry.. Sorry I went to Milford Hospital..Beware before going to this hospital... .

I went in by ambulance for bp spike, racing heart, chest pains and facial tingling on one side. They drew blood and had me sit in a waiting room full of people who were losing it because they had been there more than 5 hours with little or no help. Took 3 & 1/2 hours to get a chest x-ray. The doctor came out into the waiting room where everyone else was, listened to my heart/lungs and said, your blood work is fine, we are sending you home. I was there for 5 hours from 1:30 am to 5:30 am and everyone I saw got the same dismissive care. They didn't even have a water cooler available, just vending machines. One woman who didn't have cash on her went up and asked the nurse if they had any juice after she had been there all night and the nurse acted annoyed and gave her a cup of water. There was one check in nurse who was particularly rude to almost all of the patients I saw her talk to. I would not go there unless I had absolutely no other choice. I don't feel like I got quality thorough care and it was evident that the many people who were there before me felt the same as I do.
