I went to the ER for extreme pain in my right leg. Everyone was nice and I didn't have to wait. They took me up, did an ultrasound and took blood work. I asked them to fax the information to my Doctor. After about 2 hours they told me it was muscle strain. Two days later I followed up with my doctor only to find out the blood test they took showed my potassium was low and the leg pain I was experiencing is minor and temporary nerve damage. Should I sue them? Can't believe none of this was discussed. I felt they more concerned about getting me and out.

Never go on a weekend or at night. They will leave you in a hallway, no attendance, no rooms, no doctor, until an Assistant comes over with a rolling laptop to ask you about your Insurance. then rolls away. Six hours in a hallway, unnecessary tests and scans and a completely wrong diagnosis. I will never go to their ER Dept. I will call an ambulance to go to Greenwich Hospital that treats patients like people. Fought the bill which was insane and paid almost nothing. Just because you are building bigger, doesnt make you better.

4.5 stars: Overall, was very impressed with the professionalism of the Emergency Dept. (ED) staff, as a whole. I also felt the hospital staff was given the necessary tools to get their jobs done efficiently & effectively. 1-star SUBTRACTED due to the ED attending physician's (Dr. J. Podberg's) abrupt & rushed manner (no "bedside manner"). However, he did have to cover 50+ beds in the Emerg. Dept., so perhaps that's why he acted that way? 1-star ADDED for the Attending Physician-Intensive care unit (ICU), Dr. Jon Mendelsohn (sp?), his excellent Nurse Practioner-ICU (Jennifer N., NP), & the Attending Physician-Internal Medicine (Dr. Kimberly Farrell) who all had "bedside manner" in abundance. Their patient-focused approach to care was exactly what one could hope for in hospital specialists! Needed urgent care for my elderly parent who was having breathing difficulties, in addition to already being severely under-weight, with some existing (stable) wounds to one foot. Due to the urgent nature of his symptoms, he was taken directly from the ambulance to an Emergency Dept. (ED) bay (aka 'bed"). The very professional ED staff had his vital-signs stabilized & put him on oxygen within minutes of arriving. 1/2-star taken away because it took quite a while (1-2 hrs) for him to be administered restorative saline solution (despite the fact that I asked several staff members, as they rotated thru to work on him per their specialty area). If my parent had been in an imminently life-threatening status, I'm sure it wouldn't have taken so long. So that's reassuring. Fortunately, that wasn't the case for my parent! While i could see that non-urgent cases may have to WAIT a WHILE to be seen, I have to say that for an urgent situation, White Plains Hospital Center ED staff definitely did a great job with my elderly, frail & ailing parent!

Patient Safety

Had a nightmare experience there. Broke my leg bone, was crying, and they didn't offer me any pain medicine. I got charged for drugs even though I didn't take any medicine. Also, I didn't see a doctor, it seems to be run by PA's. The orthopedic surgeon never came, but told the PA recommendations which were not correct- as I had to return to another ER later for the same problem. Contacted them about this and never got a response.

I would like to give 5 stars for the effort of your staff member, Dajuan James. He went above and beyond tracking down a package for me today and was able to let me know that our recipient indeed received it and he also personally confimed with the assistant of the recipient. Kudos to you Dajuan!
