My uncle is a veteran and does use this hospital. He is not able to make a online review. He has been going here for years and likes the doctors and nurses. However when a doctor can't make it in for the day and the appointment is cancelled they do not call to let the patients know. He has driven to the va numerous times to find out the doctor didn't make it in. Some appointment's it was snowing and others were for unknown reasons. My uncle is disabled and does not have a easy time walking or driving. They should really treat our veterans better then that.

My dad, been petrified of using VA his entire 78 years because of horror stories back in the day... today decided to go there for emergency. Was a great experience start to finish. Ridiculously clean urgent care, very caring staff

Since the entrance changed, those of us with mobility problems have a hard time getting into the hospital. Once inside things are just fine; but, finding a parking spot within reasonable walking distance is almost impossible.

Reality

This VA is an absolute joke. I was in the ER waiting room with MRSA/Staph and waited 3 hours with 2 people in-front of me. It wasn’t until I fainted from my fever that they took me in. The nurse told me there was only 1 doctor on staff with 9 people in front of me .....Useless. What if 2 people had heart attacks/stroke etc. that means 1 would probably die from not being seen. Unacceptable Did I mention when you show up to your appointment on time, you still have to wait a min 45 minutes!?! Wtf

Great hospital and staff in almost every department EXCEPT aidiology. Won't take appointments and you have to sit an wait in a clinic. Staff in aidiology is uncaring and if you don't obey the rules you are placed at the end of the line. Kind of like Hitler's Germany..

There are good Doctors, Nurses, Surgeons and overall support staff here. They care about you and you needs and situation. They will go out of there way to get you the things you need to get better. I don't have a problem with the care recievd here. But, just like life, there is bad and the bad people are indifferent and some are plain nasty. Luckily, they are far and few in between. The pharmacy takes forever, but it could be due to the massive number of prescrpts they have to fill. The cafeteria food is really good, especially their chicken. The place is huge and sometimes hard to navigate the first few times. Wheelchairs are available for the impaired. To me, it is better than the other one, Castle point. Don't like that one at all! The VA in the Bronx is pretty good also. Overall good care and good caring people. Thank you to them all! Mike.

I'm a Veteran and been going to the VA for the past 9 years (multiple clinics in California and NY). I don't feel like they even care about your health and the doctors examinations are the bare minimum. For example, when i went to check about a shooting pain in my leg, the doctor literally looked at it for about 5 seconds, not even touching it and said "looks fine to me". VA is honestly the worst health care and the people who serve should be taken care of more.

Made an appointment months in advance they cancel on me the day before. Make another appointment, the day of the appointment I’m told I cancelled the appointment (which didn’t happen). Finally go today waited two hours didn’t get seen by the doctor meanwhile there were people who would wait 10 minutes tops before they got called into the doctors office. After the two hours I left, thanks for wasting my time glad you could help.

My dad completed a one week respite at this VA facility and the quality of care given to him by the nurses and aids was of the caliber of treatment that he received during his one week as a patient at Vassar Hospital in Poughkeepsie. In addition to the doctors, nurses, and aids, the administrative and maintenence staff provide a high quality of customer service. They get personally involved assisting patients and their families.

I have never had better Health Care in my life, except for the many months I spent in Walter Reid in the 80's. The Carmel Clinic is where I go for my Primary care, and that is far beyond anything I ever expected. My Dr, and her team treat me better than any Primary I ever had in my life. The specialists at Castle Point are the best I ever had

Wonderful place excellent doctors and amazing people who assisted . My issue is I brought my father in to radiology today and because I was driving him and it was snowing out I drove slow causing us to be exactly 3 min late. The receptionist in Audiologist office room E- 106A told my dad in a nasty tone " you are late and because of that I could not leave early" My father apologized and she said " ya well next time don't be late" . She complained that now she had to update all his info since it has been 2 yrs. Well it took her less than 45 seconds since everything was the same. Dr. called my dad in and I stood behind in the waiting room. The receptionist made a personal call told whomever she was talking to .." Ya I can finally leave early since the last patient finally came in " . She said it in a very annoyed arrogant tone. I guess her time is more precious than those of our Veterans . She feels entitled at the expense of tax payers dollars and the blood and sweat of our Veterans. This is unacceptable. If it weren't for my father who is an extremely respectful gentlemen I would of told this nasty heartless woman where to go .I will be reporting her to the VA.

I have been using Castlepoint VA hospital for many years and have been treated very well there. The facility is very clean and well managed. The staff is friendly and accommodating. I never have any trouble getting appointments and good care. I use Castlepoint almost exclusively for my healthcare needs.

I always heard horror stories about VA hospitals so I was extremely hesitant to finally go to one but I was glad I did. It's situated in a picturesque setting overlooking the river. The staff is always super nice, everyone says hey and asks you are doing when you are walking the halls. I love my social worker and psychiatrist because they actually care and it shows in their work. The receptionists in the primary care are amazing people too!

The new entrance is horrible. It does not work for disabled vets. At least cover it. You need an area closer to the entrance for the disabled.

I am so tried of the unfounded attacks on government agencies. I've been going here for 5 years now! I have nothing but positive things to say. So much better than Crystal Run...

The campus of the Hudson Valley Care System at Castle Point has had quite a facelift. It's much cleaner and that works, but its the staff that makes the joint. From the janitorial staff to the Drs, everyone is kind, professional and thorough. Would've got 4 stars if it wasn't for the long walk from a handicap spot in the parking lot to the mainentrance let alone to the specific department that you're headed to. Hard for a 90 yr old WW II VET to navigate. T I -
