I was recently in the emergency room and then admitted for two days. Excellent care. The emergency attending physician and the nurses (Mark attending nurse, Bill triage nurse and John assisting nurse) were excellent. My interaction with these three nurses in the ER have always been excellent. I was on floor 5W (step down unit) room 69. I was diagnosed as being in A Fib. I was in isolation because I tested positive for Mersa. The nurses (best I can remember were Pattie, Fay, JoJo, others I can't name) were extremely caring and professional. I have not been to any other VA hospital but I have to say this is the best hospital, VA or private. Thank you for your excellent care recently and in the past 7 years.

Man doesn't have all the answers. It's been an extremely rough road at times, but glory to God and the U.P.C.I. I've made it this far and fair better year to year since my baptism and conversion in 2000. Today I had a lipoma removed near my spine on my neck. I'm so excited with the kindness, skill and bravery of the Doc and the staff. I'm able to give them 5 starrs. Hopefully The Lord will grant us wisdom, favor and understand to treat our precious vets. And the issues we all face.

The psych Er is very patient with me...especially Bill O. 8 East staff and Dr Kravitz are so friendly. Medical ER, step down and other med units are great. Driver Dave is the best. Last but not least...the whole MICM erra team is great.

After waiting almost 4 months for an ultrasound , 3 hours before my appointment they called me to cancel I called them back and they told me 2 techs called out sick ,anyway they let me keep my appointment ,I went there and waited 3 hours and after all that time they kept bumping me for other patients .THEY KEPT TELLING ME I WAS NEXT EVEN THO THEY KEPT PUTTING OTHER PEOPLE AHEAD OF ME.I finally decided to cut my loses and went home without my ultrasound .I drove 45 miles there and 45 miles back for nothing .THE PEOPLE IN CHARGE OF THAT DEPT SHOULD BE FIRED.

The VA has been providing my health care fore years, when I realized that I could not afford to pay to take care of my service connected disability on my own the VA stepped up and got me the help I needed. The Medical staff for the most part are great and really care, some of the administrative staff on the other hand can sometimes have a "I have this job for life" attitude at times.

The doctors, nurses, etc., on the 3 floor east ICU were all wonderful on taking care of my uncle. Just wanted to say "Thank You" from the bottom of my heart, to all the staff in the Intermediate Care Unit on 11-10-17 and 11-15-17. My uncle Tony C. was there and he was very well taken care of. Your an awesome staff and that includes the Student. Keep up the good work! Sincerely Angel C.

My husband has been going to the VA in West Haven for over 40 yrs and he has always been treated with respect.. This facility is run well and most efficient and employs caring individuals who tend to their duties with a friendly demeanor always.The travel dept is especially good at dealing with various issues and always comes thru with good results for our veterans..VAMC is the best of the best and New England shines with this much needed services. Overall advantages are not just the benefits that make it great, it is the customer service demonstrated in all departments.

My husband is a veteran and came here for an eye exam for eyeglasses. I appreciate that this appointment and his eyeglasses are free but the wait time to be seen was 25 minutes past his appt time for the exam and another 30 minute wait to pick out the glasses. I asked other vets what time was their appt and two of them said the same time as my husband. I think scheduling too many appts at the same time may be the problem. Again I do thank you for this service for my husband but hopefully next time it will be better on the waiting time.

Only Me

Only towards the “information Station” when walking into the VA. Very rude and disrespectful children helping veterans. Literally sitting there complaining about who’s going to wheel vets to their appointments, laughing at veterans as they ask for directions. Very unprofessional and whom ever runs that section-should be ashamed!! Only have 2 stars because there was only one boy doing his best to help when the other kids where being disrespectful.

The nurses, attendants and doctors in the Cardiac wing of the hospital (triple bypass surgery) were all very good, knowledgeable and attentive. Many doctors come over from Yale to practice. My family has been coming here for appointments for years with very good results. Doctors/disciplines notes are all on file and accessible for easy cross-information review. I see complaints of wait times ... my non-VA doctors offices have wait times ... people are so quick to post bad things about government run facilities ... and I just think there aren't enough success stories out there.

The people here, particularly the doctors, genuinely care about patients: not just how all your organs are working, but how you feel about life, and whether you're happy with the care you get. @Andrew Glenn, how can you give the place a miserable one-star rating before you even go? This kind of carelessness makes reviews unreliable for all users.
