My sister was admitted to the Hospital of Central Connecticut-New Britain General. The staff from the janitor to the doctors are amazing people. They are friendly and always willing to help, even if it is not an area of their responsibility. From our experience, and I say that because I have spent many hours by my sister's beside, the staff does a wonderful job, especially with the work load they have to carry. A couple things I feel need improvement though, one is a better view. A couple days, when my sister was able to look out the window from her hospital room from north 215-2, this is what we saw a wall. Could it be possible to paint a cheery mural on that wall, so that every patient that occupies that room, has at least something beautiful to look when they look besides a blank wall? another friendly suggestion, please give techs less of a patient work load , so patients don't have to wait for long periods of time for care please. Overall, the Hospital of Central Connecticut, New Britain is an awesome place. Please, Please, Please, paint a mural on that wall. Give a patient, HOPE, CHEER A PATIENT UP. SPREAD LOVE

This place loves squeezing money out of people. Used to be a great place but this younger gen of doctors and nurses which sadly are around my age don't know what they're doing. They have a board in each room stating how long it should take to be in and out which is a complete waste because you stay much longer than it supposedly says. Also they take unnecessary tests to waste more time and have your bill run up. The excuse is ALWAYS the same "we're understaffed" I Hate to say it because I've been a patient of this place since birth but its honestly gone downhill.

I think the emergency room staff is the best the very best

I took my mother with chest pain the nurse got her inside right away The did EkG and all the blood work the Doctor can back and explained to us the results the Nurses the Sraff and the Doctors are nothing but the best .

Erika Greenlaw

Sat in the ER for 45 mins for my son who had a 104 fever didn't see a Dr and there were still 8 people in front of us. Worse emergency department ever. And I always come to new Britain even living out of town.

Elizabeth Matos

The front end nurses at the emergency room department are disgustingly rude! And unprofessional! Why go into the nursing field if you aren’t suitable for the job. If a patient walks into the emergency room feeling pressure in his cerebrum and explains to you that he’s been seen else where but is now having different symptoms along with pressure to his head don’t you think he needs to be treated kindly and not just act like nothing is wrong. And on top of acting like nothing is wrong having an attitude problem while I’m stating what my husband is feeling and telling me “ I heard” sarcastically and rudely as if what I’m explaining is irrelevant. This hospital needs to fire these so called RN’s and hire real nurses who actually give their lives and time to treat the sick and the impaired. How the world has changed people working for a paycheck instead of having passion in their field of work. I give it up for all those dedicated real doctors and nurses out there who truly and whole heartedly studied medicine for the love of curing and helping others. Other than that, these Cruella Deville wannabes need to seek employment elsewhere. I should call ER management and report them. It’s time to evaluate these so called employees. Sincerely, Really Angry Wife!

Worse hospital in CT got here at about 11 pm on Sunday with my sick 5 year old and my 12 year old going on 2 am still waiting and it's not even a busy night and they said they were not short staffed ,like the schools and everything else in New Britain very poor results

Jose Martinez

Worse hospital ever!!!!!! My daughter went in with a broken finger and was sent home with a band aid and Motrin

Please do not go to this hospital. I have been here numerous times, over the years of being a New Britain resident. Never have I had a problem until I got married. The behavior is not only unethical but ridiculously unprofessional. This facility seems to want me to file a federal claim with my attorney due to their lack of response to my attempts at contacting them.

Allison Stewart

One of the absolute BEST and most TRUSTWORTHY hospital ever! I did have a bad experience after delivery my son with the nurses who lacked manners and compassion but it was only 2 nurses. I was treated great and I really feel like Icwas cared about. I have been to several CT hospitals over the years and a couple in another state. NEW BRITAIN GENERAL HOSPITAL - NOW HOSPITAL OF CENTRAL CONNECTICUT is great.

I was rudely ignored. Never given my meds. They forgot twice to put my saline drip back in. My sodium was down and it was life threatening. After 6 hours I got fed up and checked myself out. Figured if they were going to kill me I might do better on my own. STAY AWAY FROM THIS EMERGENCY ROOM!! I ARRIVED AT SIX AM AND WAS THE ONLY PATIENT. THEY SOUNDED LIKE THEY WERE HAVING A PARTY! I HAD A MIGRAINE AND WAS NOT GIVEN MY MEDS. BLOOD PRESSURE MEDS...NOT GIVEN. ANXIETY MEDS NOT GIVEN. MY ANXIETY LEVEL INCREASED SO MUCH I WAS A BASKET CASE! DOCTOR WAS TOO BUSY...PERHAPS PARTYING WITH THE STAFF OR HAVING COFFEE. FINALLY GOT HIS ATTENTION WHEN HE HEARD I WAS CHECKING OUT. LEARNED THEY HAVE BACK DOOR INTO MY PHARMACY AND KNEW ALL MY MEDS!! ARE THE HIPPA LAWS NOT SET UP TO PROTECT US? WHAT IF I HAD USED 5 PHARMICIES? I WOULD HAVE HAD SOME PRIVACY! I'M REPORTING THEM TO THE STATE!! WILL START WITH ATTORNEY GENERAL TILL I FIND THE RIGHT DEPARTMENT!! THEY ARE A JOKE. I GOT HOME AND FINALLY GOT SOME REST. IT WAS SO LOUD IN THERE I WANTED TO HAVE MY HEAD REMOVED. MIGRAINES ARE SERIOUS BUSINESS. .. SOMEONE OUGHT TO TELL THEM WHEN YOU GO TO THE HOSPITAL, YOU NEED TO BE TREATED!!!

I've been here all weekend (4 days) checking out today. This the entire N2 nursing staff and nursing tech staff had the bedside manner I would expect at a resort especially Nicole, Colleen, Steph, and Alicia. The the meal and transport staff are extremely friendly. Foods great (finally I can eat). My two phlebotomists were amazing, no pain. Barely felt any of my injections. This was like a vacation, with needles!

Awful, Awful, Awful. I came in late at night with a terrible skin rash/allergy that was keeping me awake. The PA that came in to see me was eating, barely looked at me or my symptoms and didn't listen to my background or questions at all. He diagnosed me completely wrong, saying I had a folliculitis, I did further research - and even a doctor could tell you that is definitely NOT what I had. I gained no relief, the PA, Dylan, disappeared when it was time to discharge me and didn't even answer my last questions before I left. I am not happy about running my insurance and paying a copay for this awful service.

I had a bad accident and was taken to this hospital. What a wonderful place. The doctor, nurses, health aides, technicians were fantastic. I was given such wonderful care. I'm giving them ten stars.

Nobody responds to emails and there aren't any "advocates". Beware of discrimination called mentalism or sanism. Those labelled "mentally ill" are more likely to be victims of violence than perpetrators, the vast majority of them are never violent; and anybody can be misdiagnosed so drugs are pushed. I'm not necessarily against all psychiatry, I'm unimpressed by anything prone to misuse. There's political abuse of psychiatry, and there's also abuse without politics. Unqualified staff never heard of an autistic genius or savant syndrome. They thought I couldn't be autistic since I'm not low functioning. I was a prodigy in elementary school, before being forced into "special education" because I couldn't tolerate bullying. I was coerced to take drugs causing drowsiness, thrown in detention for sleeping in class, and forced to witness seclusion and restraint. In states where medicinal cannabis has been relegalized, many unqualified doctors are still around. Their archaic ignorance is disastrous. The laws target people, not drugs. Said hate mongering has more to do with classism than racism, they just won't admit it. Without any medical reason to criminalize medical necessity, the jazz musicians and Mexican immigrants were among the targets. European bigots influenced their American counterparts. Medical necessity was already banned throughout Europe before the United States. Prehistoric medicinal herb still prevents paranoia because it's still relaxing. The pharmaceutical industry is losing customers. Medicinal cannabis will knock down the other dominoes, paving the way for repopularizing psychedelic therapy; there won't be freak outs in a therapeutic setting. The junky staff at detox wards say, "do as we say, not as we do", pretending to be opiophobic so they can keep drugs for themselves, and eat in front of the patients only allowed hospital food. At Bristol Hospital, Dr. Nachiyappan Manoharan threatened forced injections of Zyprexa. Dr. Christopher Yergen is a bully at New Britain General Hospital. He claims trauma victims are "more than just a little bit paranoid", as if the witnesses are liars. That's not"trauma informed care", yet another bully won't admit trauma happens. Dr. Michael Edward Balkunas is a sadist at New Britain General Hospital. The probate judge allows perjury, Balkunas wasn't asked to provide any evidence when he lied under oath, not once did the judge care about burden of proof. Dr. Jeffrey Shelton is reprehensible. Over and over, he forces patients through the revolving door via "Physicians Emergency Certificates" when there's no emergency. Dr. Shelton scoffed at me when I told him medicinal cannabis is how I concentrate. Susanne Wargo pretends medical necessity "causes brain damage" while pushing Xanax without concern about brain damage or deadly withdrawal symptoms. Medicinal cannabis saves lives. Its users are motivated, not "apathetic and lazy"; that's borrowed from a stereotype about Mexicans. Dr. Fred Reindell claims mellow people are "the classic case of bipolar with psychotic tendencies. Dr. John A. Nazarian of Community Mental Health Affiliates claims mellow people are "schizoaffective, bipolar" because of falsified medical records. Sara Carlson Allwood misquoted me in the Intake Assessment. I described my traumatic past during the intake, made it clear I have PTSD, and said medicinal herb helps. This wasn't mentioned. I was falsely accused of "abusing alcohol" when I said I don't drink, not even occasionally. Margaret Pienezak harassed me to cause anxiety attacks. Joanna Haffner unlawfully evicted me. I was thrown to the streets without warning. The Department of Public Health allows violations. Alice Martinez despises medicinal herb, and claims CMHA's only violation was not coercing me to discontinue use. The treatment plan didn't reflect my goals. I'm rising above the abuse. I write about my experience to provide examples. It's about more than any particular person or facility. The people mentioned could be replaced. It'll take a lot to make a difference. I'm working on it.

Went to ER for sutures, won’t do that again. In my younger years I was trained to do surtures, so I know when they are done right. Wound wasn’t cleaned properly, thick black thread was used, no antibiotics given, and it was a dirty wound. Had to go to a walk-in to have it fixed, an antibiotics. I am much considering a bracelet that says do not take to hospital of centeral Connecticut go to any other hospital. I am feeling the poor to terrible treatments are personally dricted. One doctor told me I wasn’t given any treatment because I had to many things wrong and one would interfer with another. JUST WHAT IS THAT.!!!

my experience at this hospital was exceptional... the staff were friendly and professional... from housekeeping to surgeons...I would choose this hospital again if needed

The best emergency care you can get, one of the fastest in the state. But it's the location that tops it, just across park by world famous designer Frederick Law Olmsted (Central Park NYC, Capitol DC). And then the three National Historic Districts the Hospital is nestled in, West End, Walnut Hill, Downtown New Britain. Friendly talented staff had me back on my feet in no time. Primary Care Physicians are separated from this complex to a glorious facility near Plainville, which means if you're here for Specialty care, Emergency, or Maternity, the focus is entirely on you and you're not going to be running into people there for yearly checkup. Everything about New Britain General is the best for peace of mine, health, focus, and beauty. PARKING: Oh there's lots of free parking options a few minutes from the hospital, there's metered parking on the street, and there are convenient garages. If you're interested in saving money, then save money. Look for the park entrance, drive into park and around to check out the relation to the hospital entrance, then back into the park. Lot's of free spaces within a gorgeous 5 minute walk of the hospital. There's also an Au Bon Pain on location, and a top-200 national art museum, the New Britain Museum of American Art, to check out or take a break from long term care. With all the worry that goes with a hospital visit, New Britain General has an absurd amount of places to find peace and center.

Awful. Simply awful. Disrespectful and condescending providers. Nurses were laughing, chatting and listening to music at the nurses station. Not acceptable when I am a patient in extreme pain, waiting to be seen. The disregard for human compassion is unbelievable. I'm disgusted. Will NEVER return.

I had surgery last week at HOCC...first experience at this hospital. Everyone I encountered was supportive and friendly starting with the woman who checked me in at the entrance, the young man who transported me to different floors of the hospital for my procedure and of course the medical professionals. Dr Michael Posner was a competent and caring surgeon. Although I hope I never need surgery again, if I did, he is the first person I would call! The nursing staff was so supportive, helping me deal with presurgery nerves. Thank you staff at HOCC!

Colleen and Jill were the best nurses I ever had in my entire life, they really made sure I was feeling the best. Also gave me wonderful advice on how to better my life to stay healthy, very well educated staff at NBG.

We can’t say enough good things about this hospital. The care on the second floor North was wonderful. The nurses Lynn, Annette, Arlene, Julian, Juanita, Diane, Marcia and others ( so sorry if I forgot your names) were awesome and provided my brother ( room #206) with excellent care!!!❤️ A big thank you to Kathryn P, nurse manager, who went out of her way accommodating us. I’m glad we found doctors ( Ryan & Christopher) and nurses who are devoted to excellent patient care. We thank you Peter & Pearl

They have always taken care of my wife and I, always with a positive outcome, we usually are taken care of through the FastTrack section of their great Emergency department. Tonight was no different. I'm home and out of pain after 2½ hours from leaving home until leaving the hospital. Terrific.

Love. took care of my mom dad and grandma.

I have been both an employee and a patient, of both scheduled and emergency services. While the wait times can be long, that's due to demand. The staff themselves are friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive. Not perfect, but of the medical centers I've had the (mis?)fortune of having had to go to, it is certainly one of the better ones in CT.

Teagan-Sophia Gorton

There long wait times and sometimes the doctors aren't very friendly but generally they get the diagnosis correct and are able to prescribe or do something that helps

Worst experience both times having my babies. Very bad communication. They don't listen to what your saying or your concerns and don't respect you at all, I got a lot of attitude and disrespectful comments from the doctors and nurse on the labor and delivery floor!

I came in June 27th for my c section I was extremely nervous but Jamie a nurse there helped me calm.my nerves she was extremely nice and helpful. Once the c section was over I was in the recovery room alittle longer then I wanted to be but it was because there weren't any rooms ready or clean at the time. Once in my room I had some nurses and staff that were extremely helpful and nice and some who clearly just came to do there job. I was in alot of pain and still remember some nurses names and faces and probably will forever. McKenna (rn) was one of the most helpful Jenn who worked over night always came and checked on me and my fiance. There were a couple more nurses who definitely went above and beyond in there job not only one day every single day I stayed there. One thing I will say is the cafeteria forgot alot of my food and coffee and me breastfeeding needed those calories. Once the cafe is closed you basically have nothing to eat. That's a major downside. The pullout chair the dad's or partners have to sleep on is extremely uncomfortable my fiance's back is still in pain but other then that I am extremely happy with my stay at the hospital. Thankyou to all the drs staff and nurses who actually helped with a smile. You are forever appreciated ❤️

While this hospital in the past has not been on my list.of favorites. I just need to say that on Monday 8/12/19 I lost my heart and the staff that took care of my Grandmother hands down was absolutely amazing. While I did not get everyones name, I know her doctor was Dr Faith. He was an angel explaining what was going on and supporting my Mother and Uncle. Danielle I am guessing was the head nurse because she was on top of it all. And I cannot forget Michelle the social worker who went above and beyond for my family. I am sorry that I did not see everyones name because there were more people who were truly Angel's that day! Thank you for all you did for my family!!!!!

One of the best staffed and managed hospitals I've seen in my 62 years on the planet. The polar opposite of the so-call magnet hospital known as Middlesex where I had a horrible experience in 2015. I vowed NEVER to go back there and chose The Hospital of Central CT for my bilateral knee replacement surgery performed by Dr. Robert M. Belniak also in New Britain. After surgery the care I received on each shift left me amazed. I felt more like I was in hotel than hospital at times given the level of friendly, loving attention I received. They anticipated 99% of what I needed and thus hardly ever needed to press the call button for help. This kind of experience is not possible without top notch upper and middle management. HR has chosen the the right folks and molded them such that I'd give 6 stars if possible. I get if someone's loved one was not attended to in the ER in a way that made them happy or some other single misstep a hospital employee made that got them angry enough to give a 1-star rating, but honestly, this is a great place to trust your health to when the need for a hospital arises. Thanks HCC for a great experience.

Spiros Mavrudis

The hospital's staff are objective and professional. The customer service was hospitable and cleary communicative. I didnt have trouble, nor did i have to wait very long at the emergency dept. Excuse unedited grammar

Nicole Jackson

I'm so surprised about the bad reviews! I gave birth here last year 1 day before my Birthday. I will be choosing this hospital again in September for my next child. The staff was so nice to me I felt as if I owed them something, I do! My birth was peaceful, the guy who gave me my epidural did better than anyone who has done it before( 3 bad epidurals in the bronx nearly died) no electricity or leg jerk this time. They allow you to walk Not keep you stuck in bed so labor progresses, they encourage BIRTH not Csection. The rooms were spotless, I had my baby the whole time, after breastfeeding 12 hours straight a nurse came and gave me a few hours break. The nurse and women helping me while in labor were like fairies flying to your room to assist

Aaron Brenkus

I work there.

The emergency department should be recognized for their OUTSTANDING patient care. I was very sick this past Tuesday & Wednesday. The staff made sure I was very well taken care of. All questions I had were explained to myself and my father. I was very scared and each of the Doctors and Nursing staff made sure to validate how I felt. They explained all the monitors and tests there were preforming. I left this facility with confidence I will get better. Thank you

Daisy Concepcion

I went to the ER from the Hospital of Central Connecticut. I Went in for Flashing lights the doctor who examine me was obviously in a rush and never cared to examined my e yes carefully and with a more advanced equipment. The Doctor then prescribed me medicine because he believes i have migraines even though i never complained of headaches.1 week later Medication never worked and the flashes became worse that it would make my whole vision blank white!! for 1 minute each, probably like 20 times a day. I Went to a children hospital because i was 17 for self harm and flashing lights. 5 different doctors examined me that very day and examine my optic nerves. They told me i had a optic hemorrhage and papilladema,They Refurral me to a ophthalmologist and a neurologist After some time and tests, They told me if i never came in time i could of lost my vision permanently and they found the cause of the papilladema was because i have Intracraniel Hypertension and my spinal fluid pressure was high. This Hospital is very unprofessional and uncaring if i hadn't gone to another ER i could of gone blind.

Angie Andrukiewicz

Disappointed to say the least! Went with my father to the ER with hiccups chest pain and arm pain. He looked horrible. They did a urine test, blood test, ekg, and a chest x ray. Didnt bother to check his arm which caused him a lot of pain and also, medicine wasnt helping for the hiccups and they Didnt rly seem to Care. We go home after 3 hours and my Dad is worse so 2 days after he goes to his regular Doctor and they find a severe tract infection. Lovely that the staff Didnt check the urine sample or misread it! If he waited he would have kidney problems especially since hes a diabetic! Very angry about this.

The emergency room here is a definition of somewhere you dont want to go in an emergency. You are in the waiting room for 4hrs+. If they know if its a big community they should have more doctors and nurses on.

i am not sure how to really write this at all, but there have been a few times over a period I would say roughly about 6 months to about a year that I can best remember, that when I do call the Joslyn center in the after noon to talk to the nurse about my sugars or something else that is of very importance to me and I see to be getting who ever has been answering the phone with a very smart mouth and putting me on hold, for a what I would call a very long time, and I do not care for this at all. I could be having a problem with my sugars and needing help and being left on hold is not my idea of treating people with respect at all. I am at the age of 51 and I do not feel that I should be treated like this at all. the rest of the staff take good care of me and helps me out a lot. I do not need someone putting me on hold when god forbid it could be something of a serious nature that I may need to talk to my doctor about it right away.

Caitlin Cassidy

I am currently a patient here at HOCC in the birthing center and could not be happier with the care that has been provided to me by every staff member in this hospital . The doctors and residents are very knowledgable and concerned for the safety of myself and and unborn child and the nurses are caring and compassionate willing to go the extra mile. The nursing techs are quick to deliver whatever it is I need, and housekeeping is friendly and suportive as well. Not to mention staff in interventional radiology

I really dislike this hospital. My wife is in the baby side getting a c section done. And when I tell you there rude, the nurse was called to help her to the bathroom and all she did was stand there, and when she finally made it to the bathroom she leaves saying she had to help someone else.. Smh never came back. And my wife is in a hole lot of pain. I would never in a million years recommended the birth nore the hospital of new Britain Connecticut to anyone. We asked for water from the lady that brings the pills and she said oh I don't do that your nurse will be back.. I have been in a lot of hospitals In my life time. But this baby place is a joke, my wife just had our baby yesterday we have until Saturday here and it's only Wednesday. Can't wait to take my family home and away from this place. Baby Cruz will never step a foot here again

If I can give them 0 star i will they just be walking around or seating down talking about everything expect take care people . Been here for 3 hours and nothing a lady out of the room in a bed with pain for almost 2 hours and nothing

i went here feeling suicidal when i was being tortured in the new britain jail essentially for no reason since i was framed for the original offense in 2017 which qualified me for whatever offense i made in 2019 in regards to being properly in compliance with my new encumbered status of being more legally vulnerable, and then the doctors and nurses all told me that i had to go back to the jail to be tortured some more... interesting bunch of people. i told them i would drown myself in the toilet... they said the jail would have a suicide watch... no such case... i could have easily killed myself... nice job idiots. also the doctor said he might wanna give me some ativan before i went back. excuse me? im not a drug user or a drug seeker. i wanted help with my definite problems of being exposed to like, toxic water and hypothermia and no blankets and no pillow. i woke up multiple times in extreme pain losing circulation due to sleeping on the jail slab because they were allowed to send me back so soon.

Can't give anything less than 1 star! This is bullshit!! My father had lower abdominal pains and almost fainted. I called 911 and told them, they replied "Is that it?" Really? Took more than 15 minutes for them to send someone & they ended up sending an ambulance all the way from Southington. WTF?? What is this Elementary School? Obviously if you went to College to land in a Hospital helping people you need to do your damn job. They took him around 8:45pm and it's almost 11pm! He's still in the waiting room and could've died by now! Lady gives me attitude on the phone the second time I call & the first time I called they hung up on my face. Pure bullshit!

People who smoke are motivated, not "apathethic and lazy"; that's borrowed from a stereotype about Mexicans. Dr. Fred Reindell claims mellow people are "the classic case of bipolar with psychotic tendencies". Dr. Alice Martinez despises medicinal herb, and claims CMHA's only violation was not coercing me to not discontinue use. The treatment plan didn't reflect my goals, so that's a violation; hence didn't sign it. I'm rising above the abuse. I write about my experience to provide examples. It's about more than any particular person or facility. The people mentioned could be replaced. It'll take a lot to make a difference. I'm working on it.

I delivered my first baby here almost 3 years ago, and I'm planning on delivering my next one in a couple of weeks. The staff, the rooms, the doctors/nurses, were awesome! I have nothing but nice things to say about this hospital. Oh, and I've also had to visit their lab department on multiple occasions, and other than some long waits due to how busy it was, they were great.

Clean, professional, and most important, caring and considerate. I would gladly recommend this hospital to everyone.

It was a life saving experience for me. They are knowledgeable and take excellent care of you.

I dont recomend this hospital it is the worst I have my daughter with severe pain and they just assume that the pain is because of her gastroparesis. They do a couple of exams and thats it, they give up. Where is the promise and commitment to do your best and go above and beyond for an answer to a patients sickness? Besides some drs get rude because I want more tests done on her and they say they dont have a reason to do so, what more reason than my daughter suffering in bed with severe pain? and no pain medications being given. Right she is there yelling with pain and all they do is close the room door so they dont hear her. I give NO STARS.

Top notch nurses & support staff in the Labor and delivery area. Everyone works hard for the patient and even family/visitors are treated well. We were very lucky to have one of the bigger rooms at the hospital and the view was amazing. We also enjoyed the gift shop store, it was a little pricey but overall good. The cafeteria/restaurant “Au Bon Pain” was amazing and everything on the menu was very delicious and yes we did have a taste of it all considering we had a long stay here.

my father was admitted after having a heart attack.. the doctors were never anywhere to be found.. nurses seemed to not know what they were doing.. Seemed there is very bad communication issues they need to work on desperately. Took forever to get anything done. I think I would only recommend this hospital if you didn't mind dyeing..

I've always came to the ER at New Britain hospital with my clients & never liked the staff there. They always came off as not caring and a little rude. But after going there for myself, I will never go again !!! The nurse in the ER was beyond rude!! Absolutey NO manners, I greeted her and she said nothing to me & then when she was finish with me she told me to wait in the waiting room, I said okay and thank you and again she ignored what I said. While talking to her she seemed to have a whole attitude like I was annoying her. I will never return to this hospital and never suggest anyone to go
