Dirty.....Finger prints on all elevators, doors and windows. You'll catch a disease just going to and from a patient's room! The A/C blows luke warm air ! The Lobby can be misleading because it actually looks decent - but beyond the Lobby, this hospital out of another time period. (Old and Creepy)- And the televisions for the patients are smaller than a P.C. monitor from the 1980's! 10" wall-mounted televisions that are 30 feet away?? How about upgrading to a screen size the patient can actually see? and THE PARKING - A JOKE !!!!!!! They make you stick this tiny card in a slot - no directions - NO LIGHTING at night and people ALWAYS backing up because they can't pay and get out. I am bright and technically savvy and I almost had to crash through the gate to get out because of the payment system and lack of proper lighting. Get a NEW SYSTEM and PUT LIGHTS !!!!! Having to pay to park EVERY visit is pathetic. My Son went here ONLY because he had to. Would never go back !!! FIX THE PARKING EXIT SYSTEM - I am surprised more people don't just crash their cars through the gate to exit - Your system STINKS !!!! A BAD PLACE -

I had the worst experience with the nurses and the PCT’s. When ringing for a nurse the person at the nurses station sounds agitated. When your in pain you want to feel comfortable. They just all ignore you. They need to be more compassionate. Not all the nurses are like this, but 80% of them are. I will never go back! Stamford Hospital has very nice nurses and they are pleasant. They care about there patients! There was no charge nurse doing rounds to make sure everything was ok. Norwalk Hospital has gone downhill after all the emerges. A waste of tax payers money!

Went for emergency surgery, the staff was friendly and informative. Kept me informed of all the possibilities and the folks on 7West were great. All of the Dr.s were kind and frank with their views of what was going on. The room was clean and the nurses, aides, rehab people were great. Even Elvira who works with cleaning the room was a bundle of positive energy.

I cant say that one should love a hospital but this place really made the best of a bad experience. I had a fall and tore a tendon- went into the emergency room and they took me in for surgery the same day. Attentive staff and good care all around.Special thanks to Beane, Natasha and Briana as well as the PA in training who came by just to see how I was doing. I was not in the new wing but I that should be fabulous. Thank you all for helping me recover!

This is a fantastic hospital. The doctors and staff are highly competent, concerned and wonderful. I have been to this hospital so many times for various family members, the hospital is like an old friend to me. I highly recommend it.

best we have had,on all occasions. Thank you all

My mom went to the emergency room after her doctors appointment instead of going to her cat scan the doctor told her to go to because she couldnt bare the pain. She had a really bad headache for 5 days and she was crying from the pain. I met her there and there was a woman at the front desk who was being extremely rude telling us that she shouldve gone to her cat scan instead of coming here, which i find completely insane because she was in pain im glad she went to the er to get medicine for the pain and get a cat scan. She went on and on about listening to doctors orders while my mom was in pain crying. This is completely unacceptable. I felt completely unwelcome and uncomfortable.

The experience was good but I detest the fact that this hospital has a fee to park your car. Why...?...The Hospital business is a very competitive one and I must say that whenever I go to the Tully Center in Stamford valet parking is absolutely free...Also Stamford Hospital has free valet parking the last time I was there. I think that Norwalk Hospital's policy for charging for parking is petty and insulting. I will not go back because of this policy. I live on a very fixed monthly income and if I so chose to use Norwalk Hospital for certain health needs I cannot afford to park in their facility. Therefore I cannot go back and will not for the same health needs I can get from Stamford Hospital...I simply believe that the parking fee policy is an insult. As I was leaving the parking lot I noticed an elderly couple that did not understand the process with having to pay your ticket fee prior to exiting in your car and so they were stuck at the gate which would not go up to allow them to leave because they probably did not understand the steps of exiting the hospital and paying before you leave. If you lose your ticket you are not leaving their facility...!!!

Amanda Wierenga

The parking is a nightmare, hardly ever any handicapped spots. Then once you make it in you have to sign in with photo ID at the front desk. If you're lucky they have 2 people working to sign paitents in, but the line gets long. Then you have to wait again to pay your for parking & I swear they are rude EVERYTIME! If they must have a check in desk, have a few folks available to make it run smoother. And I don't know?, perhaps not be so RUDE! The support groups get canceled left and right, if you're lucky you'll get notified . But if you miss a session or 2 they boot you out of the support groups altogether. You're lucky if you can even get the drs to authorize refills on time! They even bold face lie and say they never receivedthe request from CVS, when CVS showed me proof! I had to go 5 days withouto medicine!

First of let me tell you...if you havent heard, dr ryan lieberman is leaving the hospital. If you have an appointment...your screwed. This particular department isnt taking any new patients. So if you were given the impression....told that you will be followed by another doctor....you were lied to. They will charge your insurance...and guess what...ask your insurance company if they will cover two in-takes/evaulations...my guess is no. Dr ryan lieberman will not prescribe any medications because he can not follow up with you...and the hospital isn't taking any patients as of 8/25/15. So i like nothing about my brief almost fraudulent visit for my family member. This department has no idea what they are doing with replacement. Though given 40 million dollars...this hospital leaves those in need out in the cold...in the end of a hot august. I hope this post helps those who have scheduled first time appts with this doctor...and please call and complain...if no one listens to you in the scheduling...please call the state of Connecticut department of health and file on offical complaint.

It's the WORST Hospital period. I was in the ER with my daughter for 4 hours, before being seen by a doctor. Are you serious? Hire more STAFF!!!!

I want to thank the incredible staff on 6 East for the impeccable level of professionalism, compassion and empathy you demonstrated in caring for my brother. For more than a month our family witnessed acts of kindness and humanity from nurses, docs, therapists, aides, food service workers and cleaning staff - to mention just a few. You truly are angels. Thank you so much.

Horrible! Went to ER feeling scared, confused; left feeling so much worse; literally in tears! As someone who only goes to the hospital as a very last option; who has been treated at this hospital (maybe twice) in last decade, it was absolutely disheartening to be treated so callously; insignificant; and unnecessary as I was here. I can only pray if God-forbid I am hit by a car, or have a heart attack - the ambulance makes a wrong turn and I end up safely at Stamford Hospital!! As me and my private insurance will never forget this awful experience!!

I have to say I haven’t had the best experience here. I broke my ankle on July 3rd at the beach, when I fell off my bike and it landed on me, cracking my ankle. I couldn’t walk and In a few minutes my ankle was the size of a baseball. I got an ambulance to Norwalk hospital emergency room where they took X-rays. They didn’t even show me or my family the X-rays but just said I had a bad sprain, gave me a blow up cast and told me I’d be walking in 3-4 days. Well 3 days later my ankle was BLACK and I was in so much pain when I got up I almost passed out. After an emergency trip to the orthopedics, they took X-rays again and you could clearly see the break. They said it’s a good thing I didn’t put weight on it or the bone would have moved and I would have had surgery. So norwalk didn’t even see the break in the bone, mis diagnosed, almost causing surgery. Never again

HORRIBLE SERVICE! My mother went to this hospital because she had a very bad case of vomiting and diarrhea. She was there 5 hrs without being seen. She was throwing up and almost fainting in the waiting room and still! They would not see her. There was a little kid there as well shaking and crying, do you think they attended him? NO! Horrible, horrible staff! They kept telling people they didn’t have bed when you could see that they did. WOULD NOT RECOMMEND ANYONE TO COME HERE!!!

I had bacterial meningitis as an adult. This can be deadly. The care was excellent and I was treated with dignity and my wife and I found the staff to be high professional. I think it is sad this hospital gets a bad rap, I have no complaints. Well done, thank you Norwalk Hospital.

Sadiyq Naji aka

I went to a few different clinics here and i didn’t have the best experiences, not including how extremely slow and behind time they were and not really friendly

Lori Herasimtschuk

I had an Emergency visit on May 18,2018 and reveived excellent care from nurses and support staff. A special shout out to my outstanding and compassionate ER MD, Dr. Bennett Goss! I was very impressed by the professionalism and kindness and efficiency of this ER. Many thanks, Florence H.

The whole process took a little longer then i hoped for but at the end of the day i am very pleased by the care i received. UPDATE: overcharged the hell out of me! Almost had to go back to the ER when I opened up my bill.

I went to the Norwalk Hospital for a routine procedure. The staff was attentive, efficient and caring. I was checked in, prepped, had my procedure done by my excellent doctor, and was on my way back home in less than three hours! And they were very busy this particular day! I couldn't be happier with their care.

CAUTION: VERY DISHONEST BILLING PRACTICES, WHICH THEY BACK UP WITH RUTHLESS BILL COLLECTION TO HOUND YOU AND DAMAGE YOUR CREDIT RATING BASED ON GROSSLY PUFFED UP INVOICES THEY SEND OUT, EVEN IF THE INSURANCE COMPANY HAS DETERMINED ZERO PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY. THEY DON'T EVEN CARE IF YOU SHOW THEM THE WRITTEN INSURANCE COMPANY DETERMINATION OF ZERO PATIENT RESPONSIBILITY - THEY JUST KEEP SENDING THE PUFFED UP BILLS, AND THEN HOUND YOU WITH THEIR COLLECTORS. VERY SIMILAR TO LOAN SHARKS.

the best hospital ever. Gave birth there and I couldn't imagine better care. Everybody was so kind and professional.

This Hospital is a very Good place, the people here put you at ease. It's at if your home. I would like to take and say a very special THANK YOU!!!! to the staff on the 5th floor, surgey.the professionalism they showed beyond any I've seen. With people like them we , the citizen's of Norwalk have no fear in Quality hospitalization. GOD Bless and keep up the good work

Norwalk Hospital is poorly run. The beautiful new building is not what makes a hospital great - it's the people and policies within. And in my VAST experience with that hospital it is still woefully lacking. I reside within one block of the hospital and have lived her for 25 years. Over these many years I've been THE advocate for my many ill family members and, as such, my experience with this hospital - from the patient's perspective and that of their advocate - is as I described earlier - VAST. I am still unimpressed.

Carlos Nunez

They say babys dont come with a manual but here its like they do come with one because all the nurses are very good at explaining everything very well and they take there time . Very professional, loving and caring

Today visit the laboratory at the clinic in the first floor at the Norwalk Hospital, and the attention was terrible, I felt discriminated against because of the way I was treated. Do no visit any more. A person can destroy all the effort of good managers.

Akshaya Jagadale

I delivered my baby on 31st of January this year. First, I want to thank all the nurses. One of the best maternity staff. I loved the way they take care. The nurses and technicians were really best. This guys have poor ER. They must improve on.

Sashua Ford

Worse hopital, my husband & I got in a car accident my husband refuse treatment becuase we had bad experiences at this hospital. They didn't really treat us, they check my virals and give me ibuprofen and sent me and my husband home, my husband received a $2600 bill for no reason, this hospital is a disgrace.

Ozzy Coleman

It's a really Good Hospital Honestly. I've been their, my children have been their in fact one was born their [ God I Love Them Both ] so yeah I know this Hospital & it's A Great Hospital

Mike Mosca

this hospital is way better than stamford hospital, that i can assure u, but ofcourse it would be for different reasons. in no city is it quick in the ER. there is a lot of mis communication there but there are also a lot of interns and people that dont care, but there are alot that do care. the specialty clinics are top of the class and have been awarded for their work. the doctors are also very nice and professional. they have made a lot of changes in the past few years and are still coping with the changes. ive had my long waits in the ER there aswell, but for a cut?! i expected to wait as should that 4 year old. as i can assume that with the multiple accident victims they get there nightly, that a few stitches should be and was at the bottom of the to do list. stamfords ER would have taken 8 hours. ignore the reviews, try it for yourself. but know that some days can be busy, it is a f**king hospital, not the grocery store. they dont have to help you, they choose to help you. show them some respect.

Maxwell Howard

They helped my sister when she sprained her arm. The doctors are very professional and helped her a lot

The worst hospital I’ve been to. Absolutely the worst service. Wasted 3 hours here doin absolutely nothing. Absolutely pathetic. Waste of our tax dollars. How about put real doctors and nurses to do the job.

We are there all the time and it’s rare to find someone that’s not just going through the motions and actually cares and pays attention to your individual problems.. they just go yeah yeah yeah and rolled her eyes and ignore the rest you have to say

I had scheduled surgery at the hospital. From pre registration to being admitted through ambi surgery, the nurses, doctors ,PAs, anesthesiologists were all top notch! My care in PACU was exemplary! Top notch RNs! Had a private room on 7-East where I received very good care from my doctor, the PAs, nurses & PCT's. Overall, a very good experience!

Heather Burns

HORRIBLE. Incompetent staff. Collapsed my only good vein for IVs and drawing blood. When I looked down and saw it didn’t look good (because it was burning and hurting me), I told the nurse who bold faced lied to me and said, “It’s fine, sometimes they just look like that.” I now have to have IVs in my hands or feet. Beware!

Steven Bravo

I've been in emergency room a 2 times and they decently fathom my issues compelling my personal mental health. Especially a few days in the cp3 I was a part of this year. It's sure was worth it feel better as you can be for them. Whenever it kicks you back in the curb, get help immediately!

Worst place to go when you have an emergency. My daughter was in the ER for 3 hours in the waiting room. When they finally called her they sent a PA that had no idea what was wrong with my kid.

Constance Schumacher

I had bariatric surgery in January 2017. I was in the hospital for two days. The surgery went very well for me. My doctors, physician assistants nurses and clerical staff were very helpful and attentive. I understand the hospital is designated as a Center of Excellence for bariatric procedures. My care and follow up care could not have been better.

Utterly Disgraceful!! The amount of ineptitude is far too lengthy to list here, but I implore you, if you want to get well and survive DO NOT GO TO THIS HOSPITAL!! The nurses treated my father-in-law like an inconvenience. We moved him to Yale, last week and the results of his scans they were taken WEEKS ago, still haven’t been transferred. Yesterday, Yale docs were pretty certain he would have a complete recovery. Today he passed due to the horrific, disrespectful and out dated care of Norwalk Hospital.

Excellent services

Superb compassionate and attentive care by lead surgeon and his team, and nurses (Caitlin, John and Jasmin) and their teams. Spent two days and night there and felt more like a guest then a patient.

PATIENTS BEWARE! Do NOT go to this hospital if you want to be treated well, or even like a human being instead of a headache. I made the unfortunate error of coming to this hospital after I had developed several blood clots in my lungs from my heart surgery (at Stamford hospital) a week prior. Not only was I made to wait in the lobby for nearly 20 mins, even though I could barely breathe and my nails were visibly PURPLE, I was almost sent home the same night with some vague implications I was exaggerating how severe my condition was. The only saving grace this hospital has is that every last nurse I dealt with after admission during my stay were the kindest, most empathetic and concerned people I've ever met. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same for the doctors here. I was told by an ER assistant, just before they got my report back that I did in fact have clots, that because I am a woman, and that I do not have a primary doctor, that sometimes, "[women] experience pain that there may not be a cause for," and that by having a primary care doctor I would, "know what is normal and not normal for me." Even though I now had confirmation that my condition warranted an actual emergency, and justified my trip to the ER, I still had to wait nearly 7 hours before I was moved from the ER to an actual room. From then it didn't get much better. Dr. Mathew attempted to discharge me the next day even though I was still struggling to breathe and visibly painful. I requested a new doctor and he did not acknowledge my request or see me again for the remainder of my stay. He even went as far as to deny calling my script for blood thinners into another pharmacy. I do not care if I am legitimately dying. I will never consciously set foot in this place again. Never before have I had such an awful experience with any medical professional before. Do yourself a favor and just go straight to Stamford, they actually seem to care.

Denise Anghel

I gave birth at this hospital and the maternity unit is one of the most professional, knowledgeable and kind filled places I’ve been too. I had a great experience here and most of the nurses were amazing, especially nurse Michelle!

Joseph Szarmach

We chose Norwalk Hospital for the birth of our baby. She was born 6 weeks early and the doctors, labor & delivery and NICU were amazing! However, when Mom was transferred to the Maternity floor, it was clear they were "out to lunch". They not only missed a dose of blood pressure medicine resulting in very high blood pressure (which they purposefully did not document on the chart), they missed signs of pneumonia. To make matters worse, Mom left the maternity floor (discharged) and due to chest pain went straight to the Emergency Room ($$$) where they diagnosed pneumonia! And WORST OF ALL, we discovered that everyone involved in the delivery at Norwalk Hospital bills separately - which meant individual bills each with their own after-insurance balances. It's like staying at a Marriott hotel, but getting billed for the room, the bed, the bathroom, the pool, the TV, the continental breakfast, parking etc - all separately. Given the sheer number of bills and insurance issues that always seem to keep a bill from being paid (mostly due to improper bill coding) our credit score suffered as a result. Just too many bills from anyone and everyone involved in the delivery, and the probability of your credit score taking a hit is very high. Would never use this hospital again.

DON"T waste your time. Terrible ! Emergency room is used as a primary physicians office. I was charged an insane amount of money for one x ray. tried to contact them for an explanation but got NO response. They sent a debt collector after me. Try Stamford.

Kallie Murphy

I recently had a terrible experience here. I am just thankful that my condition was not life threatening. This hospital likes to give you drugs and send you home. They left me in a room shaking with a severe allergic reaction. I ended up just leaving so I could get some competent care. If you can, avoid this place!

david cleveland

Went to the er today with a potentially dangerous problem. Knew it would take a while so I took a book. Being married to a health care professional gives one insight. Competent care nuff said

Team goodstock

Went to the emergency room to be seen understaffed workers complaining in front of patients.... the room Was dirty...you can tell it wasn’t clean someone left dirty gloves in the room and the sheets had brown spots on them Norwalk hospital has to do better this is unacceptable it’s suppose to be a clean environment at all times

Worst ER experience I've ever had, and I'm a nurse, I do understand how things work in a hospital. I was told to come here to have labs redrawn from a visit on Friday, and have been here for 2 hours without bloodwork even drawn! I have been told by every employee that it's busy and everyone will just have to wait. I have also been reprimanded by an ER nurse twice now for having brought my newborn to the hospital with me. She said because of high rates of influenza its the worst place to bring your newborn, but Im breastfeeding and can't be away from my child for more than 3 hours. Completely inappropriate!

Carol Feeney

Had motor vehicle accident so arrived in an ambulance and was seen right away. Nurse threw a gown at me and told me to change. Didn't ask if I needed any help. MD saw me right away and checked out the important stuff - heart, lungs, spine, no real attention to the rest. Did xray areas that I complained about - leg, arm, chest. Xray tech was great, kind, patience and even tied my gown so I stayed covered, ER tech (did EKG) also polite and efficient. MD ordered meds that I never got till she came back with results. Nurse discharged me with no concern about how I was to get anywhere. Also no attention to abrasion on my arm, didn't even clean it. This section of the ER WAS NOT busy at this time. They have a sign that says they have the highest satisfaction scores in the hospital. Well if that is true then the rest of the place must be pretty bad. If you can't tell by now I'm a nurse so my expectations may be higher than most, but as a patient I am as scared and in distress as any other patient.

Norwalk hospital is the best hospital the doctors and nurses are the best.

The medical equipment is outdated surprising for fairfeild county one of the richest in CT and the US.Most of the staff are unprofessional, rude and dismissive.I herd two Polish women breaking HIPPA laws by discussing my medical files in front of others in a slag version of their language and some code words to other staff. They thought I was sleep and ignorant to what they were saying the conversation was discrimination and many stereotypes about low income Americans for one.I came here twice and made me regret giving the benefit of a doubt+second chance. The racism and discrimination is so obvious I was surprised to see black foreigners who were so stuck up and will turn their noise up at you as if they are not black they kiss up to white people to fit in and again it's obvious they don't like them just have to tolerate due to job requirements.I.Its hard to tell who is worst the foreigners trying to kiss up and fit in or the stuck up arrogant white people who service other white people faster with minor injuries.I literally seen them take a guy back with a stubbed toe who checked in after me as I was having a asthma attack.

Ray

I will leave this as a 3 star review for now, as so far staff and hospital have been fine, and My fiance will be here for 5 days. So, my problem is with having to pay for parking. They are part of Western Connecticut Medical Group, which includes, Danbury, and New Milford Hospitals also. I don't have to pay to park at either of those two, so why do I have to pay in Norwalk??? Everyone I've spoken to about this agrees completely, however no one does anything about it. For me, thankfully, it isn't about the money, but it is the principal. My loved ones is here for a major (could be life threatening operation) surgery, and you have the audacity to charge for parking??? Every time I come in or out...really!!! The hospital gets well paid for the services they render, and has no business charging anyone coming to the hospital, patient or visitor, to park their car. Imagine going shopping at a mall, to spend your money, and they want to charge you to park.

adrianna louis

The worst hospital ever they treated my godmother horribly while she was pregnant and staying the hospital for a while. Another thing the staff is horrible very disrespectful(most of the staff) , rude etc. also I took my sister to the emergency room and they took hours to take the child and the staff( front desk ) was very rude and disrespectful . overall this hospital needs to be shut down and have a whole new staff and mangment. It’s so bad that I have drive to Stamford hospital to get medical care and I’m a Norwalk Resident. 0/5 stars

jessel vitonera

My sister was in the labor & delivery area, I went to go find out what her status and the nurse immediately yelled at me like I was a young kid to go back to the waiting area. I couldn’t even get a sentence out. Also, some of the nurses are not patient & do not want to give you satisfactory service. It’s unbelievable knowing they go to school for this. The maternity area definitely needs an upgrade in all rooms and technology!!

Max Silva

Are ye freaking kidding me no explanation needed so freaking frustrated they freaking charged me for parking and didn't give out free toilet paper I'd rather eat a pile of mayo.

Gary Anasta

One of the worst hospital I've ever been in. I work at a hospital and we are told about hourly rounding and being professional. I've been here for a few day and I have now seen that yet. I would drive a 100 miles away instead of coming back here

Frank Girmenia

Shouldn't have to pay to park.Nurses and doctors don't communicate enough and had to wait around in patient for procedures that could have been done outpatient.Wouldn't come back here

It is horrifying the treatment given by some people working in the main entrance, specifically a man who works there, does not know what is human quality, my experience there was traumatic, since I had just left with my son from the pediatrician's department where he was Two days we were treated very specially, they know of human quality. but when I left there and I found this bad treatment for this man I was so impressed and highly disappointed in this place.

Emilee Morgan

Terrible experience. I drove to visit my fiancé from Oswego, NY. Over a 5 hour drive. I started not feeling well with about two hours left to go. When I finally got to Norwalk, we went to urgent care and they said my EKG’s are clear but I didn’t look well, so she recommended the ER. My night nurse after being admitted, Jordan, was a very nice young man. I also felt the evening staff in general was attentive and on top of things. Our morning nurse, Shirley, we didn’t see for about 6 hours. We were told we couldn’t go home in the morning after my heart rate had stabilized because I needed a test done on my heart. This was at 6:30 am. Around 12 pm, at that point I had only seen Shirley to unhook my saline so I could use the rest room and she came back around 45 minutes later to hook it back up. We were then informed that the people who needed to run the test don’t work on weekends. So, we “probably” couldn’t get it done today. They discharged me and said I was fine to go, but my resting heart rate is a 104. Which isn’t exactly stable but they said it had improved. But looking over my paperwork there were diagnoses not included there they had said I had, and others added they never explained to me. I am a 30 year old female, I don’t smoke or drink or use drugs or take prescriptions. I was told in the hospital I was dehydrated, but in running some tests they had only discovered I was deficient in potassium - and I also had a nodule on my lung and a mass on my liver. Because I don’t smoke or drink I was told not to worry about this, but I can get further tested at my PCP in NY. So, I look at the paperwork to see the details on the mass on my liver and it ISNT MENTIONED ONCE. furthermore, it says one of my diagnoses is “leukocytosis” - this was not brought up to me at all during discharge or during my stay. The dr seemed completely clueless as she spoke and didn’t have any proper bedside manners. It sounded like someone who wasn’t an MD briefly googled a symptom and had trouble regurgitating the words to try to explain. The employees should honestly be ashamed of themselves.

Sabrina Baqir

Hello. I would like to let you know how horrible of a person/doctor you have in your network. This man should not be working with patients. He has no morals or values. Dr. Vaagn Andikyan sold me a car knowing that it needed repairs. He said it was in excellent condition and come to find out I have to pay to repair it. I am a single mother with 2 young girls and he knew that. What kind of person does that? Patients should NOT trust him. BEWARE! Do NOT trust this man!!!

jody williamson

Emergency department needs a purging. If I could give negative stars I would!!!! Everyone should be fired. Everyone is cold and more concerned with what’s on tv then the sick and care needing patients in front of them. I will never set foot in this hospital again. I will go straight to Stamford hospital. Do not come to this hospital..... go to Stamford. I have been waiting for 2 hrs to be seen by a doctor... and I’m in the emergency room!!!!!! I mean why have an emergency room.. they should just call it the “come in if you need a doctor and wait all day room” not like it’s an “emergency room” or anything.!!!!!!! Really. What is the admin at this place doing about this????? In Stamford I waited 10min the last time I was there, and “EVERYONE” was nice, compassionate And empathetic. DO NOT GO TO NORWALK HOSPITAL. THEY SUCK

Very racist hospital. I stayed here for several days for the birth of my son. The lady in charge of birth certificate told my son's mom that she needs to understand the mentality of the white man. Totally unprofessional and ridiculous considering her race was completely different from the both of us. If i wasn't a devoted christian I would of flipped out on her.

Gary Tapella

I recently had to go to the Emergency service at 1:30am to resolve an urgent matter that required a catheter installation. I was quickly admitted and attended to by Jess who was professional, deliberate and knowledgeable. He did a great job and is a credit to Norwalk Hospital.

Stepan Fedorov

They messed up with my medical bill and send it directly to collectors. Now it affects my credit score badly. I don't understand how paying upfront could be send to collectors. From financial perspective they just dont have brains and cannot add couple numbers.

My wife had surgery here and the Doctors and entire staff were terrific. The best I have ever seen. True Professionals.

I went there with severe bladder pain and my blood pressure was sky high and I was shoved in a corner until I really spoke up and demanded some care. I needed to use the restroom and no one helped me so I had to walk down two corridors to find one to use by myself. They discharged me with no information and obviously never read my chart since they sent a prescription in to the pharmacy for a medication that I go in to Anaphylactic shock with. They never reviewed my medications or allergies with me at any point, nor did they do any sort of physical exam. They also put in a catheter bag that is not supposed to be slept in and sent me on my way. Needless to say I was not happy with what little care I received and I left feeling very frustrated and stressed out. I will go to an Urgent Care in the future since this visit I’m sure will cost a fortune I’m and nothing was resolved.

The pre-op was horrible. A registration person who didn't know what it meant for a young person to have Medicare. A nurse who thought an auto-immune disorder goes away. A blood draw lab that only has one person staffing it, and it took over 20 minutes to get service because that person was trying to grab lunch while me and another gentleman sat waiting to be seen. Now the operation / surgery crew and wing 7 East, wow! They were great. They did everything in their power to make the visit great. I had the same nurse two days in a row, and he was awesome! The PAs who visited with my surgeon were wonderful, and even the PA in training who took out a drainage port (that is a horrible feeling) tried to make the experience as good as possible. I really liked the fact I was in a private room and the hospital was going to private rooms for all patients. I think that helps patients heal quickly. Now as for parking, I was floored that you have to pay for parking, even if it is maxed at a low rate. Parking is free at Stamford and Greenwich Hospital. Valet parking is free at Greenwich and is now $8 at Stamford. I think for surgery patients and regular patients they shouldn't have to pay a dime to park at the hospital.

I had knee replacement surgery at Norwalk Hospital and was amazed at how easy the whole hospital experience was. I had my surgery on time, was taken to a big private room on the joint replacement floor and was treated by the nicest staff possible. The pre op class was very helpful, the pt people were excellent. In all, it was a very positive experience. I considered having the surgery at HSS in the city, where I had previous surgery. This experience was so much easier and personal and kinder. I went home the next day and I'm doing well.

Excellent service: very friendly and professional staff there. Very caring and keep talking to me and help me relax the whole time.

It’s always an awful experience everytime my family has to be treated by this hospital. No one except the nurses know how to do their job, everyone else is rude, uncompassionate and clueless. If you are working in healthcare I would think this job would mean more than a paycheck and would be about helping people but it seems like everyone is just waiting for their shift to end.

This hospital should be closed, it is a risk to go as a patient and a miracle not to be mistreated, discriminated or intimidated by the staff. Since 2012 I reported the violations of this hospital to the Health Department, on June 28 of that same year I received the report signed by Cheryl A Davis, which reflected the many violations they had found. When denouncing the mistreatment and negligence as the loss of results of analysis and racist behavior the hospital administration decided to forbid me to enter it (except ER) except to be accompanied by a security guard. Another complaint to the Health Department resulted in a many-pages report signed by Susan H Newton, RN, B.S., reflecting the multiple violations found, this report is dated November 29, 2017. Except to make up the exterior the Norwalk Hospital has not changed according to this new report that I can send to anyone who requests it a copy. It's a shame that our hospital in our community acts in this way

Absolutely pleased with the service I received on Tuesday after having received Da Vinci day surgery in the ambulatory surgery center at Norwalk Hospital. From the first moment of the check-in process, all the way to the discharge, ever member of the staff was extremely caring and provided professional and high quality care. Pre-op Nurse Sue and the other nurses and techs are all amazing, I also could not speak more highly of the anaesthesiologist and the doctors. The entire facility is clean and lovely. The ambulatory surgery waiting area on the 5th floor looks to be recently redone, with TV, many magazines, and free water/coffee. My nervous Mom waited for me for 6 hours during my surgery, and the front desk lady and gentleman constantly updated her about my status, checking on my Mom to make sure she was OK, without her even needing to ask! Family members waiting there can watch live on the screens and monitor their loved one's status - when the doctors begin surgery, when the patient is moved to recovery, etc. Very high tech! Every area that I was in (from pre-op, to OR, to recovery) is in excellent condition, very clean, with the latest technology available. Could not have prayed for a better experience - exceeded all of my expectations. Now recovering well two days post-op with almost no pain! I could not but recommend Norwalk Hospital Ambulatory Surgery Center to anyone who is considering having your operation there. Thank you - 5*****!!!

I went to the ER with a sprained foot to x-rays because Urgent Care wasn't open yet. I got a very vague and inflated bill, and it was like pulling teeth to get an itemized list of charges. When it finally came in the mail, it didn't have descriptions, just the codes for what I was billing billed for. After yet another couple of phone calls, I finally got to the bottom of the unreasonable bill and what the charges were for. When I contacted the hospital to dispute the erroneous charges for extra services that never happened, the billing department told me I used the service so therefore had to pay for everything they billed me for, regardless of the accuracy. They were no help and it was a dead end. I finally contacted Kristin, the Director of Customer Service, who was also rude and less than helpful. I finally gave in and paid the full bill, despite being over billed and charged for services that never happened. They clearly need money to pay for the new additions and it shows in their unethical billing practices. On top of that, the customer service at this hospital is TERRIBLE. Even the "Director of Customer Service" could use a refresher course on dealing with customers. After all, we are customers and not just patients to be taken advantage of. This place is SUCH A SCAM!
