My daughter has a genetic disorder so we visit quite a few specialists-my complaint is on scheduling, I don’t mind the long wait but it is always a struggle to get a person on the scheduling line. One example the worst department in my experience is Audiology. Everytime I call, I will always get a voicemail. I left a voicemail asking for a date to schedule my daughter on 3 different business days and today (day 3) I still have not gotten a call back. It’s 2 pm I doubt they will call me back so I’ll try leaving voicemail again tomorrow. It is more professional to leave a voicemail with an excuse for being too busy like 1) “saying all slots booked the next 3 months, please call back next week for a new slot. “ or 2) “the scheduler is out of office till next week”. This is bad management, bad for business and I have a feeling they do not care. I have slowly changed 2 mediocre specialists to another hospital. If a hospital is not well run dr and nurses do not get the right support. My audiologist is awesome if she moves I’ll follow her to another hospital.

They are having a fall festival. What fun.

We had no problems with the doctors and medical staff, but the billing process is an insane disaster. Children's Hospital is fine for the most serious issues but would highly recommend avoiding it for urgent care.

I paid less to deliver my baby in an actual hospital than I paid for an office visit with a doctor and an allergy test due to their "facility use fee" I took my daughter to see a doctor which I thought would be billed as a specialist visit. It was the allergy/immunology department. They saw her and did some allergy testing which showed no reaction, like it did the previous time she was tested. I didn't think it was a big deal until the bill came. I was charged for the doctor visit $20 copay.. Not a specialist... Thought that was strange but o.k. Then I was sent a bill for over $2500 for a "FACILITY FEE". YES $2500 FOR SEEING A DOCTOR WHO IS IN THEOR BUILDING!!! DO NOT GO! I am stuck with over $500 after insurance has paid! This for being in their building for 45 mins! This should be criminal! There was no warning or anything to tell me it was going to be any different from any other doctor appointment I have ever had! I called and they told me they charge that to everyone who goes to a department in their building! Insanity! I hope this place is sued for illegally charging patients! Signs me up to testify! BEWARE!

We have frequented this hospital and LOVE it!! We are always treated respectfully and with compassion. Low wait times, friendly staff and very comfortable. I won't go anywhere else if I can help it.

I will NEVER take a child here again! The service was fine and people were friendly but the billing process was the biggest joke and unnecessary stress I've had! I called before I brought my child to confirm they provided urgent care because I did not need Emergency services. I provided insurance twice while I was there and still received a bill with no insurance listed with a description that says emergency services. After calling to give my insurance a 3rd time, I received a late notice for the amount without insurance billed. After 2 more times of providing my insurance and talking to the billing department over and over, I finally got an explanation of benefits from my insurance company. I never received another corrected bill from the hospital, only threats to send me to collections. After 8 months of dealing with this I finally thought I was through. Wrong! I received a new late notice for a new amount and was so mad I called to find out what it was for and they told me it was a new charge. So I grabbed all my bills I had received, which is when I noticed I actually paid more after insurance was billed than the original bill without insurance. I told them they needed to waive the new charge and send me a refund for the $80 difference between the bills. They waived the new bill but conveniently never returned my 2 phone calls or 2 emails about the amount I was charged above my original bill. Tell me how I can possible be charged less with no insurance and more with my insurance billed!!!!!!! What a scam!!!!!!!!!!!! For the 15 minutes we saw the doctor and maybe 45 minutes we spent in the facility, it was not worth the hours I have spent dealing with the bill and the incompetence. Not to mention the utter disgust in our health/insurance industry.

If you can use your primary care physician rather than going here, please heed this advice and do so! My 2 yr old son was seen by the urgent care physician late one evening in May for trouble breathing and lots of coughing. We were worried because his breathing was very labored. After spending 3 (maybe 4 hrs) of "close examination" he was released with having an upper respiratory virus. We were told to push fluids and rest. The next morning, the breathing was still very labored so we decided to take him to his normal pediatric doctor. After less than 20 mins, his doctor heard pneumonia in his lungs and even found him to have an ear infection. Who knows what would've happened to my son if we would've just trusted the doctors at Children's hospital. Best part is that they are demanding us to pay for the visit and chalk this up to differences in diagnosis and a fast morph from a virus to pneumonia. I wholeheartedly recommend staying away cause I doubt this is the first time they brushed off a dangerous diagnosis like this and wouldn't accept responsibility for such neglect. I am still shocked that their "expert" director would say that an ear infection and pneumonia would just happen in less than 12 hrs from him being seen. I'm not a medical expert, but this doesn't seem right to me.

Urgent care/emergency day staff was great! My daughter came in with stomach pains and fever and although they couldn’t diagnose it they ruled out as much as possible. They said to come back if anything worse happens My daughter started vomiting with NO NAUSEA cause she couldn’t swallow food, she choked on it. So we rushed her back in but this time the night staff was there. No one came to our room for about 30-40 mins. Finally Colleen the nurse practitioner of the evening came in and immediately decided this was a GI bug even though there is no nausea. She wouldn’t run tests on anything else, I finally got her to agree to at least a strep test which came back negative and they immediately released us. They decided to give her Zofran for nausea.. SHE ISNT NAUSEOUS! She couldn’t swallow her food and it caused her to throw up!!! She choked on it!!! But they wouldn’t listen to me... I’ve been up all night now with my daughter having trouble breathing, hives all over her body, Peeing every 15 mins without intaking more water. No once could she Not keep fluids down, not once was nausea an issue, this is something more in depth and Colleen wanted an easy answer. She treated me like an over bearing mother. She literally said my 10 year old doesn’t know the difference between pain and nausea. She made my daughter sicker! Day staff was great, and understanding and tried. They were concerned! Night staff couldn’t care less!!!

UPDATE: The bills just keep rolling in! They've charged me over $2600 (after insurance adjustments) for this broken leg already! And they claim that they're billing me the lower "urgent care" rate... RESPONSE: I called the number referenced in the owner's response to my review (though a bit skeptical of the prospects of an actual discount being offered). The woman was nice and put me on hold for a few minutes. Sure enough, she came back on and simply told me "there's nothing we can do for you". So, my review stands on the basis that using the term "urgent care" is incredibly deceptive. I would have gone elsewhere had I known the cost beforehand. I took my son in on a Saturday evening with a broken leg. Our local urgent care was closed, so I figured this was my best option. There wasn't much of a wait and they did a great job taking care of my son. The price was probably a little steep for an urgent care, but nowhere near a typical ER visit ($370 for x-rays and a splint). We took him back to their orthopedic a couple of days later to get it casted (since they already had the pictures and medical info, etc...). Once again, we received great care and the price was a little bit steep (they billed $360 and my insurance brought it down to $290). Overall, they impressed me enough that I'll think twice about taking my kids to the local urgent care for anything more than a few stitches, even if the next one happens during normal business hours.

I brought my 1 year old daughter here per the advice of the hotline nurse through our insurance company because in the middle of the night she was having trouble breathing and there was nowhere else to take her that was open. Turns out she had croup, and we were at the ER less than 5 minutes before the triage nurse told me that, and then the doctor came to confirm it. Total bill was close to $2500. Our insurance company negotiated some of it down but we still ended up having to pay about half. This is an outrageous amount of money for the time and attention we received, in my opinion. No tests were ran on her, and the time in front of healthcare professionals was under 10 minutes total. The front desk staff, nurse and doctor were all nice and helpful, but the costs are ridiculous.

Jesse Caudill

Billing scam!. Childrens hospital bills for using the "facility" and then the doctor bills you as well. We have a $20 copay for urgent care, but were still stuck paying an additional $200 for "outpatient services" that the insurance doesn't cover. This visit was to take our 18 month old in for a high fever, where they gave us motrin and sent us on our way. There are 10 urgent care facilities that won't double bill you within 3 miles of this place.. don't waste your time and money on Children's Hospital. It would even be cheaper to visit the ER at another hospital than to go here.. of which there are 2 within 5 miles of this place.

Adam Kelson

Children$ Ho$pital. They literally looked at our son for about 30 seconds, took 10 minutes to explain they couldn't do what we came for and then sent bills for almost $500. Ridiculous. Keep telling us your are in it to help children and not for the money. Maybe you will actually believe it some day. Oh, and don't bother replying with your boilerplate response.

Crystal Stevanak

Childrens hospital billing is ridiculous.they send you to collections for almost a year ago plus dont send you a bill what a joke

Melissa Devolve

We are CHC "frequent fliers;" my son has been seen at Aurora, Highlands Ranch, and Briargate countless times. At CHC Highlands Ranch (Urgent Care as well as clinic) we were met with the same level of customer service, friendliness, and most importantly expertise we have come to expect at CHC. We drive many miles out of our way to make sure our children are always seen by CHC docs. Thank you for what you do!

My 2 and a half year old son was admitted after my wife feared he had swallowed some sleeping pills. We eventually found out he never took anything. The doctor took my son's heart rate and had him stay for 2 hours with my wife in case any symptoms showed up. Charged me $2000 dollars to which my insurance only allowed $1440. I expected the charges to be around $800, which while still crazy for the services provided, but its the ER. Insane they think it okay to charge that much and take advantage of patients.

We've used Children's a few times for a few different issues. The doctors and nurses tend to be pretty good with the kids. However, even though this is in network for our insurance the testing and other items are ridiculous. Perfect example is the well x-ray our doctor insisted that we get at children's even though I wanted to go to a stand alone facility. This would allow him access to view easier. What a mistake. We've had x-rays done at different ER and stand alone with a cost around $30-$50. Childrens $343. They should be embarrassed. Feel free to go here, but I would be very hesitant to have blood work, x-rays, testing of any kind without shopping around. RESPONSE TO RESPONSE FROM THE OWNER: Thank you for your canned standard reply to my issue. We have contacted not only your Financial Services Department and United Health Care to try and determine why your services are 10x the amount of other providers and we were told that the $343 WAS the negotiated price with Children's Hospital. So since you have a captive audience AND our insurance provider is more than happy to pay less this is what we are stuck with. Lesson learned. I am just hoping to keep someone else from falling into the trap.

As noted in other reviews, this place fleeces you in charges. I took my child to their so-called "urgent care" vs ER. Total cost just to get a strep throat test....just under $500 when I got the insurance bill. They charge you a fee just to walk in the door then another physicians fee! Each almost being $200. You've got to be kidding me, for am urgent care visit?? Would hate to see their ER fees. Dont be fooled into thinking this is a regular urgent care type visit....you will be paying ER type fees! Apparently they expect you to fund their new facility. First and last time. Have since taken my child to a regular Urgent Care down the road from them which cost $150 TOTAL, which included a strep throat test. Now thats what Id expect to pay for Urgent Care.

My son twisted his ankle, and while searching for a place to take him tomorrow morning, I noticed that this hospital only had 2.8 stars. After reading the reviews to see why, I regret not writing my own last year. We took our then 10-year old in with strep throat one Saturday night around 9pm, and it cost us $900 for a throat culture & a 15-minute visit. I was shocked, to say the least, and now that I see we are just one family of many in the area who've been duped by the "Urgent Care" claim, I'm going to search for alternatives. It's a shame, because the doctor & staff were excellent. I understand that a business has to make a profit, but this is a violation of the community's trust:(

I wanted to recognize Cynthia Austin (4th Floor at the South Campus) for her exemplary customer service. She went above and beyond what was required of her. She noticed in my records that someone created a duplicate account and changed it, she also looked into my insurance to make sure it was updated and helped me get appointments scheduled with multiple departments for my six year son who was just diagnosed with a severe condition and needed immediate help. She was professional, empathetic and very helpful. I would highly recommend putting her in a position that oversees customer experience, I think she's a terrific asset to Children's hospital. It's extremely rare that I reach out and offer someone's praises, I was that impressed. Children's Hospital (South Campus) is a great place for kids who need medical care.

My wife and I would like to thank the excellent staff at Children’s Hospital Colorado in Highlands Ranch/Lucent for the outstanding job they did in caring for my 9 year old daughter this weekend. The excitement of her first ride on a her new mountain bike was dashed by a hard fall and broken arm and several stitches in her chin. We relocated to CO from the east coast at the beginning of the year and both times we have had to visit Children's have been the best healthcare experiences we have ever had. While we hope the visits are a bit more spread out in the years to come, it is great to know such a wonderful facility is in our backyard.

My daughter needed to be seen for a possible head injury. I knew urgent care would have been a more frugal choice, but I decided to take here to this location should she need additional care. We arrived on a busy Friday night and we had to wait a little while to be seen. I was okay with that. The charge nurse came out and checked on all of the patients as they were waiting to be seen. It was comforting to know she was keeping track of all the patients and providing immediate triage to some of the injured patients as well as those who were more ill. While my daughter was being evaluated, other personal came out and offered further hospitality. We have spent a lot of our time this year in hospitals, and would have to say this was on of the most pleasant visits. I would recommend people in the south metro area using this facility for the urgent/emergency care.

This was my go-to for 21 years and younger for urgent care AND ER (until they were no longer in network with our Anthem BCBS policy)! Why? Because they triage on the spot to determine which way to send you, potantially saving you tremendously in medical bills. We paid far less for an urgent care visit than we do for an ER visit, but sometimes as a parent you don't know which is required, which is what I love about this location. You show up, they evaluate the situation, and send you to whichever is relevant. My daughter's post seizure care here cost me $40 vs. the kid's ER at PSL costing me thousands for the same care.

Everyone was really nice but we did wait 2 hours to be seen in radiology and that was with an appointment

Every time we’ve take our daughter here they’ve been really great with her in the ED/urgent care. However, specialist like GI and ENT (especially Dr. Kelly who stayed my daughter would most likely NOT need tubes and most likely WOULD have another ear infection this season) left much to be desired as my daughter developed an ear infection 4 days after seeing her, her 7th since she was 6 months old. Apparently 6 ear infections didn’t warrant tubes right away since standards had changed. Sandra the PA in GI lost my daughter stool sample that we had brought in when she was 6 months because she was failure to thrive, and so nothing came of that. They told us they would mail us new cards and that didn’t ever happen. Otherwise I have zero complaints about the hospital itself. Just providers.

Very long wait and poor service... This hospital is in need of rebranding because it is a horrible place to go if you have a sick child... I perfer to drive an hour away to Highlands Ranch location... Doctors are arrogant and lack the skills of communicating and interacting with family. Big gap in demographics and doctors...

The Doctors and other staff were fine. The lady at the front desk that takes your insurance info with a bad southern drawl, horrible manners, huge chip on her shoulder, foot in a cast and all around bad attitude needs to be officially disciplined and retrained or terminated. Brace yourself , when you refuse to argue with her and keep silent she will promptly inform you to your face that you are hostile then proceed to become verbally abusive by questioning your relationship with your own child. Don't make the mistake I made by telling this fine Lady that you are the financially responsible party for your child and you hold and pay for the insurance, she lets you know in no uncertain terms that SHE decides who is going to pay for what !!

I came to you guys to check up my son and such about what is going on I’ve been there like 2-4 times in a week because he has a high fever. And now he got pneumonia because you told me that its just an upper respiratory virus which is not. The services were great but the way that you treat my son was terrible. Good thing that I went to his pediatrician today and get him checked up and found out that he has pneumonia and an ear infection.

We really enjoyed our private Executive Suite while staying in this hotel, it even had a beautiful review. Although our 800 thread count Egyptian cotton sheets were somehow replaced for much thinner, hospital-like bedding. Go figure. The room service food was mediocre at best but the staff more than made up for it. They checked on us and our son numerous times, even in the middle of the night! We would absolutely return to this lovely establishment the next time we are in need. Highly recommend. All kidding aside, we used Children's Hospital Colorado South Campus at one of the scariest times in our lives as a parent, when our two year-old son was diagnosed with pneumonia. Emergency room staff were compassionate and caring, thorough and the tech who did my son's IV was a ninja! Inpatient doctors and staff were incredible. I truly felt like a valued member of my son's care team as my thoughts, questions, concerns and suggestions were actually taken into consideration. Thank you is hardly enough but it's all I have. Thank you!

The staff is wonderful, attentive and understanding

We used children’s hospital ER and urgent care a few times now. It is never fun when your kiddo is sick and I couldn’t be more thankful for all staff members, their knowledge, care and professionalism. I feel lucky that the hospital is only 10 min away from our house.

Sean De Roon

I can’t thank the doctors, nurses and even the cafeteria staff at Children’s Hospital enough. They were so kind and caring to my toddler son and saw us through his bought of bronchiolitis. We spent a week at the hospital and everyone we met was professional, empathetic, and just pleasant to be around. This is the hospital I will always take my son to. Thank you all!

Love this place so much I got a job here

The cancer center here is a scam! They thrive on creating unwanted fear in hapless parents’ minds. Instead of starting with the most plausible, easy to address diagnosis based on the symptoms, they grab an outlier test result, link it to cancer, and scare the kids and parents out of their minds. They then recommend several tests and visits for which of course there will be different charges for the doctor, the facility, etc. Dr.Smith in particular seems to enjoy watching his patients squirm when he says “there is a possibility that your kid has cancer”.

Chris Lightfritz

Great allergy clinc. Took our son there for skin and blood testing. Results came back super fast. The Dr. was very professional and worked with us. The entire staff was friendly and helpful as well. Plus they have an app you can use to get lab, test results and even chat with your doctor.

my child went to ER today. this is a difficult time for a parent. somehow the staff here doesn't understand that and they ignored me and the treatment by staff was terrible.

Molly Quackenbush

We visited this Urgent care/ER with our 19 day old daughter on Aug 4th. While the care for our daughter was great, we were highly disappointed in the facility itself. There was trash under the seats in the waiting room including used face masks and food wrappers. There were sticky spots on multiple chairs in the waiting area. The carpeted floor looked as though it has never been vacuumed. The exam room we were taken to had plastic wrappers on the floor from medical tools. The exam bed had hair all over the sheet and multiple sticky stains on the sheet that covered the bed. The blanket we were provided to wrap our infant daughter in also had crusty stains and we opted to use our own blanket. We also felt as though there should be a separate waiting area for infants especially due to the fact that being as young as our daughter is she hasnt had her vaccines yet and her immune system is still very weak and we had to wait with older children who were coughing etc. It made us very uncomfortable to have our infant exposed to this. The care was good but because of the dirty facility we will not return to this urgent care/ER.

They really should have the cafeteria OPEN until 5:30 there are children who gets MRIs here at 4. Unfair the parents who have to sit here and have no food because the cafeteria closes at 3. Also there isn’t an ATM anywhere.

Horrible !!!Horrible experience I ran to the hospital because my daughter was very sick They did not do any x-rays or blood. I asked for them to pull blood work and they said that they would not pull blood work because it was too expensive that Ava had to have fever for more than 10 days never heard of anything like that I'm disgusted and sick to my stomach. Now I will be up all night worrying over my 4 year old daughter 1:14 am

We have 2 very active high school students and Children's have always cared for them so well when the are injured. Can not recommend this place enough.

Once again children's hospital misdiagnosed my son and cost us thousands of dollars in medical bills and prolonged pain for my 3 year old. Today we are sitting at Skyridge outpatient surgery where my son is having emergency surgery after children's hospital in highlands ranch sent my baby home with antibiotics saying he was fine. Thank goodness for the doctors at health one rocky mountain hospital for children for picking up the slack AGAIN and giving my son the medical attention he needed to get well. Also a big shout out to the nurses at the highlands ranch children s hospital who thought my 3 year old's fear of IVs after being stuck by needles 23 times by the crappy staff at children's hospital was funny. #youguysaretheworst #definetlyquityourdayjob #youneedmoreschool #itsnotkawaskidisease #youdontpaythebillssoiguessyoudontcare #learntocommunicate #whatifitwasyourkid

We had my sons tube surgery scheduled to be done here but after the exhausting experience at their version of “urgent” care I’m going with Rocky Mountain children’s for the tubes. In the future, I would go to ANY other urgent care/ER in the area if needed, guaranteed we will get faster and far better care . My son bit through his lip after a fall at daycare and I came to children’s because my son has some sensory/social issues so I really thought this would be the place he would feel most comfortable getting the stitches he needed. Waited at least 45 min in the waiting area, was brought back to a room eventually, sat for another 20. Nurse came in and I started to explain what happened etc. and she stopped to say she had to take this call from a dr she paged 30 minutes ago. At this point I think-Ok I’m frustrated but I’ll be understanding. 30 more minutes and she came back, I explained we would need something to keep him calm because he freaks when a stethoscope touches him so no way he’s going to sit through stitches. She orders the meds and 25-30 min later comes back and administers the numbing cream, relaxant and some Motrin. 45 min later she comes in and starts the stitches, one falls out and she redoes it. Another 20 or so minutes go by and another nurse comes in with discharge paperwork, we go over it and as she’s walking out I look over and my sons lip is completely split open again. She grabs the nurse that did them along with Another nurse helping and explains they need to be redone. The assisting nurses words “I don’t know why you would use dissolvable stitches near the mouth, that would never work” . Here’s where I start to see red and all I can think is -seriously dude? You had knowledge or opinion that the supplies she was using wouldn’t work and you didn’t say anything while sitting there watching her give them to my 2 year old “???? So then starts the process of the 2nd set of stitches, he flinches on the 2nd to last one, I ask if the numbing cream is wearing off and the response was “probably”.....huh???? The male nurse says he is going to grab neosporine and the updated discharge paperwork for the non dissolvable stitches, 15 min later I look over and he is just sitting on his phone. My son is having a melt down at this point, I go to the nurses station and he tells me “just another few minutes”. FOR REAL????? My Son just had to get an unnecessary set of stitches and you are REALLY telling me to wait for paperwork and neosporine???? Nope, walk back in put his shoes on, walk out say we can’t wait any longer. What a sad sad excuse for an “urgent care”

Vanessa Martin

Great staff all the way around from the admissions desk to the nurses to the doctor. I drove from Colorado Springs just to come back here this was my second time here. I had a terrible experience at Memorial Hospital in Colorado Springs and will definitely NEVER take my children back to a memorial hospital again! Even though I have to drive over an hour this is the hospital I will always bring my children to! They are caring nurturing and so friendly to all three of my kids. One of my children is autistic and they were so nice and attentive to him unlike the other Hospital! I appreciate the whole staff that night that helped my kids on Sunday night. And the terrific admissions girl Kaia (I hope I'm spelling her name right) that was so sweet to all of my kids. Especially my son he appreciated that so much! Would DEFINITELY recommend this hospital to anyone with a child. Would give more than five stars if I could!

Today was my first time visiting the Children's Hospital afterhour/emergency and it was amazing. We walked right in and was helped immediately, we were taken back right away and a nurse came in within 10 minutes to give my daughter motrin. I suspected an ear infection based on symptoms and I was correct. After the motrin another nurse came in 20 minutes later and confirmed my suspension about an ear infection. She gave me the prescription and we were on our way. We were in and out of the emergency room in about and hour. The staff was super friendly, helpful and efficient. It was not exactly howhat I wanted to spend my Sunday afternoon but it was quick.

Farhang Mousavizadeh

The staff that's here during the day is almost perfect, I have had a surgery done with them and they were tottaly awesome. the night shift however is terrible. I'm an athlete and I went in to the emergency room for a few possible sports injuries but they treated me so bad it was almost as if they just wanted to get me outta there. I also told them that I had a benign tumor in my ankle and I wanted to get a check up, but they kept refusing to help out by just saying "if it doesn't hurt you it's not an issue for us to look after". A wonderful experience. They were very good with my child and to us.

So I'm updating my review from a review I made a year ago. We had to take our 12 month old there on a Sunday night when he needed stitches in his head. They were fast and helpful and really good. The nurses and doctors were wonderful and the whole process seemed to flow a lot better than the first time I was there. Now I never need to get test results via the phone so I'm not sure if that process has gotten any better. I am extremely disappointed with this place. We took our son to "Urgent Care" on Sunday afternoon for a high fever. They did a strep and flu test. The 'fast' strep test came back negative and they said the flu test won't come back for 4 or so hours. They will only call us if something is positive, otherwise whatever he had must have been viral. So we go home...Monday at 5PM I get a phone call that his flu test was positive. Then everyday after that I get a phone call saying they are 'checking in on my son' to see how he's doing. I call back every time, never to actually speak to who originally called me. Then on THURSDAY at 4PM, someone called again and we finally connect and I'm told that he tested positive for strep. 4 DAYS LATER I'm told this. His fever broke and he's been back in school for 2 days now. I was furious that it took them 4 days to tell us test results. It's truly unbelievable. They don't leave test results on messages, but unless you answer the phone the moment someone calls with the results, you'll NEVER get them.

We are here at least twice a year when our kids need to get a large amount of bloodwork done. Every time we come, the staff is very professional yet wonderful with kids! We especially love Jake and often work with him. He makes a not-fun appointment as fun as it can be for our kids and they always leave with a smile on their face (especially thanks to the prize he gives them for sitting so still). In general, the hospital offers a very clean, warm, friendly environment.

I was so impressed with how personable and friendly every staff member was! We will definitely refer our friends!

I took my child in for a hurt arm on Friday 3/27 after he fell from our playset. Nurse practitioner was excellent. However, my autistic four-year-old did not want to go near the big, scary x-ray machine. (He was comfortable in the room. Why would they not agree to do a portable?) The x-ray tech, having been told that he was on the spectrum, was authoritative and said "you will do this or I will send Mommy out and I will make you do it." She asked me to leave. I decided to step outside to see if she had some magic trick. I came back in when he would not calm down and was screaming his head off to find that she was holding both hands on his thighs, forcing him on the stool. I don't know how she thought she was going to get x-rays of his arm that way. I took him on my lap and sat on the stool while she went to go get a nurse to help. I held my son while the x-ray tech roughly held his injured arm down and repositioned it for 4 pictures while he cried and screamed and struggled. Come to find out, his arm was broken. This x-ray tech was horrible. She had no empathy. No skills for dealing with kids on the spectrum. She treated my child like he was naughty, not like he was tired (it was almost midnight) and scared and overwhelmed and in pain and incapable of understanding what needed to be done. My kid could have been given narcotics or sedatives to make it easier. He could have been kept in the room, where he was calm. The tech could have looked at him and gently told him what we needed to do and apologized for having to hold his arm. She could have tried to see it through his eyes. I am so upset. So of course, I called the patient advocates at Children's. It's been 2 weeks and I have not heard back. Children's downtown did the casting with a lot of sympathetic people and a Child Life Advocate. One in 68 children are on the spectrum. There is no excuse for every employee not knowing how to deal with a young, scared, tired, kid who is in pain and who *cannot* comply.

All Pediatric Specialties are there. Staff are very nice. Security enforced, which is ALWAYS a good thing. They do have a heli-pad for Flight for Life rescues. Lots of parking both handicapped and not. I live near by and dropped off bags of Beanie Babies for the patients. My experience was just that.

"Urgent Care" billing scam!!! Parents beware!! If you have an urgent care deductable don't go here!! Billed over $1,100 for a 15 min. doctor visit to get a rock out of my daughter's nose. Could have gone down to the concentra which is 5 minutes away and would have paid less than $300 for the same visit. They say that it is "Urgent Care" but the rates are extreme. I wonder what it would have been if it was the emergency room.

The staff was amazing with our 2 year old daughter. I would highly recommend this urgent care and er to anyone. Wait time was short and overall great experience!

tried them twice with my special needs child. DO NOT RECOMMEND. they hemolized her most recent blood sample. seriously thought while they were holding her down that the guy doing the bloodwork was a bit underskilled, he had that needle digging around way too long. causing unneccesary pain and stress on my child. after just now viewing the results of her bloodwork, I am convinced it was on purpose or a lack of professionalism. I will NEVER go back here. will try any other place, they had their chance TWICE to get it right. the last two times were horrendous. never again. too bad because another first visit was AMAZING!! too bad you have people working in the lab with a sadistic tendency. Hemolysis=Rupture of Red Blood Cells= Hemoglobin released= Hemolyzed Sample What causes hemolysis? Traumatic venipuncture Small needle size causing increase pressure on the red cells Unnecessary pressure on cells when transferring to collection tubes Incompatible transfer connector devices Tourniquet time too long IV Starts Skill level of phlebotomist

DO NOT GO TO CHILDRENS HIGHLANDS RANCH!! We took our 2 yr old boy there Sunday the 11th at 2:00am because he couldn't sleep and was complaining about his bottom and he is a great sleeper and never has issues so we knew something was wrong. When we got there I explained that he was rubbing his bottom back and forth and kept grabbing his bottom and saying owie. I explained that our dog had just had worms and asked if it could be that. She then said humans can't get the same worms as dogs which IS NOT CORRECT but I later found that out. And she continued to tell me that my child was probably just CONSTIPATED. I was baffled by her answer and explained he had just had a bowl movement at 8:30pm so that was highly unlikely and is there any other kind of worm or something it could be? She insisted no and said it was constipation again and said they would give him some motrin and we could leave. When she came back w the motrin I said if this continues can he get some test for worms or something else we can do? And after leaving to check something she came back and said where there is a possibility it could be pinworm and if I really wanted she could do an order for a stool sample. I said YES! thats what I have asking for this whole time. The next day at 11:30 am I dropped off a stool sample and it is now the 19th and I have not received any phone call or results from that stool sample. I did my own research the same day I dropped of the stool sample and found EVERYTHING pointing towards pinworms. It could not have been more obvious that he had pinworms. Every symptom I had explained to the doctor was completely obvious pinworms. So luckily Walgreens sells an over the counter pinwheel worm medicine which I gave to my 2 year old and for the next couple of days worms poured out of my son in every bowel movement and he was relieved. If I was not a proactive, smart mother and taken my own action my poor little boy would still be suffering and we would have YET TO HEAR BACK FROM THE LAB RESULTS. At 2 am that morning my husband said why don't we just take him to Littleton Hospital and I said no lets take him to Childrens Hospital because they specialize in KIDS/CHILDREN and I'm sure it will be better. Well let me say this next time we will DEFINITELY GO TO LITTLETON HOSPITAL. Incredibly disappointed in Childrens and honestly is pathetic service and intelligence from doctors

I have been coming to this facility for quite some time now. Both my kids have had tubes done and we have used the ER quite a bit. I rarley ever have issues and usually only come in the fall/winter time due to the rise in sickness. The past few times we have came in there has been a major cleanliness issue. Sheets dirty and wrinkled like they were never cleaned up from the last patient, left over medical items on the small metal medical stand and stuff behind the head board. When I brought my son in maybe a month and a half ago there was blood stains and dirt on the sheets, needle caps, qtips swabs, and left over bandaid wrappers on the stand and behind the head rest there was a used qtip with something on it that looked like they had taken something out of a childs ear. Then when we came in late Christmas night the sheets had dirt stains again pillow case had what looked like dry boogers on it. That is gross. You guys are and ER facility and are suppose to be clean to try and help prevent germs from spreading! I have left my concerns on the childrens survey I recieved in my email.

Friendly and knowledgeable staff, very New and clean, comfy guest bed, spent 10 days here when my daughter was sick. Hospital volunteers offered to watch my baby so I could have a break. Doctors were around and kept me well informed of the plan. Obviously I wouldn't want to spend time here if I don't have to, but as far as hospitals Are concerned, this was a wonderful experience.

Had a cyst in my neck had to get it removed and on the day of the removal im expecting the doctor to be mobile after a leg injury but throughout the whole process she leaned on my back as if i was a table which was very uncomfortable and the fact that this "doctor" left non disolving stitches in my neck is very very ridiculous sadly i have to go back to get this so called doctor to remove them

Couldn't love this place more - unfortunately we've had to visit more than we'd like with my 3 little ones. Can't say enough great things about their allergist, Dr. Carel, and ENT Dr. Chan. Also wonderful experiences with urgent care and ER. Thankful this close location opened in HR!

I visited Children's South Campus Urgent for my 12 month old who had an ear infection. The Dr was with us approx. 15 mins and I am now receiving bills for $650 dollars. This is crazy for a simple ear infections treated with numbing drops and amoxicillin. I can't imagine what the cost would be to have an emergency room visit at Children's. Disappointing

My family has been to Children's Hospital Colorado South Campus multiple times in the last two years...urgent care, emergency care, surgery and Doctor's appointments. My family and I have nothing but wonderful comments about this hospital! We have had short wait times, respectful and competent nurses/Doctors, positive volunteers, thorough evaluations and an overall pleasant experience for our child! Denver is lucky to have such a wonderful hospital!

I can't begin to say how grateful I am to the Children's Hospital. My son is autistic so when I took him in I was naturally quite worried about how it would go. But the *entire* staff was absolutely amazing. From the front desk, to the x-ray tech, to the phlebotomist, every single person was kind and patient and went out of their way to make sure my son was as comfortable as possible. They even provided a specialist to offer ideas about how to keep my son calm during the necessary procedures. I cannot thank them enough.

The wait times are terrible! This place needs to staff appropriately. The staff are amazing though! Just not enough people.

Sara Rohner

Based on my experience today, I probably won’t ever return to their urgent care. My son and I spent FOUR HOURS in urgent care. We might as well have went to an ER because there was no urgency on anyone’s part here today. We spent 30 minutes waiting for a doc, then had to wait over two hours for results they said would be ready in 30-60 minutes. They refused to let us leave without our printout papers, so that was another 30-45 minutes of waiting. Never again. Ever.

Bad. They're doing a very poor job of keeping up Children's Hospital Colorado's name. Waited, waited and waited some more. Only for a PA-C to give my extremely upset, VERY sick and VERY uncomfortable 2 yr old son a dose of Children's Advil. And then tell me, "we can do blood work but it won't be for awhile because we have other "critical" patients. BS. Get me outta here and let me go to a REAL hospital with a REAL doctor. You know it's bad when your pediatrician gets the report the next day and calls you and says, "I received the report for your son last night from Children's. Looks like they did a whole lotta nothin!!" Couldn't have said it better. Go to Sky Ridge, Children's Main Campus, anywhere but here. It will be a huge waste of your time. I have 3 children and this is my youngest child whom we took. I've had many experiences at many hospitals and doctors and this is at the top as one of the worst experiences. Pretty shocking that a campus of one of the top Children's hospitals in the US has this many terrible reviews. Maybe whomever runs this place will take note at some point!

Brent Daniel

If I could give this place negative stars I would. Brought my daughter here last week had the worst experience they didn't even come check on us and the botted us out. After doing nothing after being there for 15 hours and sent my daughter home on oxygen. But it turns out she has pneumonia we found out after we left children's and went to skyridge where they actually care about the kids. This place is a joke and I would not recommend this place for anyone especially if you have a premmi like my little girl. Oh and yes we are still in skyridge with the best care ever.

Danielle Price

Everyone on staff here is especially kind, from the café workers to the EEG techs!

Shame I can't give 0 stars. I will never bring my child back to this location. Went in for 103 degree fever and cough. They ordered chest x Ray's. The x ray tech was rude impatient and condescending. After 2 failed attempts at a front view she finally got it. Meanwhile, my child is screaming, and having to be held down then we think he is done and she said she needs more pictures. Of the side this time. Same thing 2 failed attempts as hes screaming in pain now with a visible bruise on his leg where he was being held down, so I said no more pictures no more holding hi. Down. Her response was "whatever it is his care not mine" then called another nurse and said can you explain to them because they dont understand and they refused care. I showed the new nurse the bruise and said I'm sorry but no more. She took us back to our room. 5 mins later dr shows up saying everything looked good from the front but since we refused they could be missing fluid from the side view. Then she told us we refused care and that we can go home and didn't even bother taking off the pulse and oxygen thing attached to his toes we had to do that. And leave. I look behind me and it's the dr following us out hurrying to her car so she can leave. Seems we were keep g her at work and she was rushing us out so she could do the same.

Deanna Dietsch

We had to get a blood draw for an allergy test on our one year old. This place was easy to find and super quick. We went on a Sat. The staff was very nice and the blood draw went perfect.

Lisa Lewis

This is an amazing facility! Lisa Rider in the audiology department is absolutely the best, and Dr. Alonso in endocrinology gives exceptional care. It is wonderful the time and devotion they put into their patients.

Martin Blue-Norton

I love all the Children's Hospital's. This campus has fantastic views of the front range.

Doctors and nurse staff were great. It was scary for my son with his illness, but they made my son feel comfortable the whole time he was there. You have to rate the staff and billing separate. Billing will always be a mess at every hospital.

Same great care, only 5 times the cost! I was new to the area and didn't know better. They have a great facility and staff, but as many others mention, the fees associated with this supposed 'urgent care' exceed emergency room visits. My daughter was sick for a while so I took her in for a strep culture, just in case (a $15 procedure/lab fees at urgent cares I've been to in the past, on top of the $75 to $90 for the standard visit). We spent maybe 15 minutes actually in an exam room. The total of the various bills from the visit? Over $600. I wish I'd seen the reviews before going there! They should be ashamed of advertising in schools. They're actually doing a disservice to the area. To compare, a few weeks later, I ended up needing a number of tests for a horrible flu with multiple complications so went to an urgent care within a few miles of the Children's Hospital facility. Total cost was under $200 including all lab fees and the tests run. As for the canned response of "While all insurance plans work a little differently in terms of benefits and contractual arrangements, Children’s Colorado is required to bill according to specific regulations based on our license."...do you honestly think that helps ANYONE who gets gouged by the "benefits and contractual arrangements" and has to choose to make a payment vs. feeding the child you supposedly helped? That's rather an extra slap in the face. Either fix the 'contractual arrangements', disclose the fact that the visit is likely to cost half a grand while the place up the street would be less than 1/3rd the cost, or shut down as an 'urgent care' and call yourself an emergency room.

WORST experience with any hospital EVER. My daughter had a level 10 pain and vomiting and was crying hysterically as the forced her through multiple X-rays and refused to help her with pain meds until 2 hours into our nightmare of a visit. They mocked her as she tried distracting herself from the pain by looking at her cell phone and said she was "too busy texting to be in pain" as she cried and moaned. They would not help her to the car and said she could walk. They refused to admit her, gave her the WRONG dose of narcotic painkillers and sent us home to drive 10 miles an hour at 4 am for an hour due to her level of pain - only to have her respiratory system slow so badly that had I not had my own pulseox machine, she could have stopped breathing in her sleep and died. Within 3 hours of discharge she was on her second ambulance ride that day on loads of oxegen being screamed at to stay awake and breathe. I HATE this God awful hospital and my daughter was treated unkindly, cold and unimportant then sent home with the wrong dose of medication. I would not return if it was the last hospital in Earth.

Not sure why people are giving negative reviews. ER visits are expensive no matter where you go. It is a state of the art facility and my appointment couldn't have gone smoother

My daughter was seen in the Urgent Care/ED and had to get 7 stitches, a traumatic experience all around for a 7-year-old girl! The wonderful nurses and physician got her stitched up and on her way efficiently and what impressed me the most was the way they skillfully interacted with my daughter and included her in all of the communication about what was going on, asking her questions directly. We also just received our bill for the visit -- only $45! I can hardly believe that after 7 stitches, x-rays and numbing that is all we owe! Wonderful experience all around.

I went in to talk about my issue and have them completely understand and were able to help me calm down and be relaxed during my appointment, my nurse was really awesome she asked what my interest are and was telling me about how she did the same when she was in highschool too, Overall just a great experience would highly recommend.

This place was AMAZING for and to our family. When we checked in, Kim was so polite and thorough and went above and beyond to create quality conversation. When we checked in upstairs, Larry was unbelievably courteous, helpful and you could just tell he loved what he does. The RNs, anasteologists and doctor were ready to answer any questions honestly. One of the RNs saw how emotionally upset I was to put our son "under" so she quickly reassured me that he was going to be okay and gave me a hug. The communication throughout the surgery was reassuring and his recovering care was immaculate. Jan was so sweet and caring and also went above and beyond to make this new mother comfortable. A stressful day lessened due to the personability of the staff at this location! Thank you!
