Very happy with the service we received today 10/31. I went with my mind set to wait hrs.. however i was seen right away. My son fractured his thumb and we walked in this Morning and was seen within 10 min of arrival. They right away took xrays, Dr and nurses were all very helpful and professional. No one likes hospital, however they make sure your visit is placent and less stressful. Love Valley Children's Hospital will never go to a walk it clinic for emergencies.

we took my son in the other night after he had already been to the doctors and another hospital with no answers. We got the nurse in the ER named Caleb, he was great. our doctor was also amazing. the only thing that struck me funny was how the security officer Dennis (an older gentleman) was very rude and unprofessional with a young couple who was worried over their child. Dennis was very aggressive and confrontational. I was there 8/30/18

It's a very.. Positive environment for children. For each floor they have different paintings and pictures. It's not like a regular hospital. Everyone and anyone is very friendly and will help you with anything. They really try their best for the child. I think it's very positive.

The staff was friendly, and they took care of my child. The seats were uncomfortable and I got there at 9 and out at 3 am. Now I do not hold this against them, they have to take based on priority, it was just tough. The doctor was great and very friendly.

This place does great things for children, I have helped in raising donation purposes for this location numerous times. There are certain individuals here who do a great job. My kids have come here all the time. Although this year they have hired some individuals who are not doing there job at all this needs attention. Typical texting, chatting for 2+ hours and just hanging out, I can't even get water after asking like 3 times. Don't bother to listening or explain processes. Which I end up explaining and walking them through processes. Doctors don't visit kids cause there's one on duty is just hanging around with nurses laughing for hours. Horrible place now, I'm ashamed of helping raise funds for people I would fire in my business. Please get new teams who are dedicated to there work instead of just waiting around to get off and collect a check. They need cameras in hallways or have a supervisor walk floors to ensure everyone is doing there job for these kids.

The ER is a joke. My son was screaming and crying his head off sick and burning up in a crazy 103.2 fever and they didn’t care ! Waited 4 hours and never got seen. They just suggested thermometer and Tylenol, uh no shiiii that’s what I’ve been doing all day and it wouldn’t go down. We left. Rather go to Saint Agnes ! They took us in right away Never coming here again. !

Took my 5 year old in Sunday. Waited 5 hours, just so they can send him home with a “virus & upper respiratory infection .“ his symptoms are high fever 102-104 ,cold chills ,vomiting ,coughing and fast heartbeat. This has been for at least 2 MONTHS! Tuesday he seems worse and a mother just knows when something is serious. We drove to Visalia urgent care and within a hour we were seen.. they gave him medicine for the high fever. Did a X-ray. And found out he has pneumonia in his lower left lung. WOW children’s hospital. I drove to you because you are supposed to be the Best for our kids. So explain how you missed that!! Don’t worry I’ll be in touch soon so you can personally explain .

This a review as a visitor. Upon arriving at check in, they made sure I knew how to get to the right location by showing it on the map. Gift shop has great items for sale and volunteers are helpful in what are best gifts depending on the child patient. Amazing exterior building like a castle and interior decorations to suit the children's amazement. Driving into the parking lot, the bushes are neatly decorated with different kind of animals. Valley Children's is indeed an amazing hospital for kids of the Valley.

This is a nice hospital pretty and big on the inside. However some nurses really are only there for the money and are lacking compassion. Some are even lacking knowledge and more are lazy. The hospital should weed out the dead weeds and do hiring for people who really want to work. I would have given 5 stars but employees can make or break a company and in this case their employees did that here.

I brought my 4 year old son here because he had a high fever and was complaining of stomach pain. It got so bad he was crying. The first day of the fever and stomach pain I called his primary pedi to see if he can get an appointment that same day because I wanted my baby better. I had a hunch that it might be a UTI and I told his primary pedi that and he said boys don’t commonly get UTIs and pressed on his stomach to see that my son was hurting in his lower abdomen. He didn’t even asked for a urine test just to make sure . He said it was gastritis and he sent us home with ibuprofen and Tylenol and told me to make sure my son drinks plenty of water and that it would go away in a few days. Well that wasn’t the case; That whole night my son only seemed to get worse and I couldn’t get his fever to come down. He was in so much pain that it hurt me to my soul because I couldn’t comfort my baby. So early the next morning after that rough night I decided I needed to bring him to Valley Children’s. As soon as I got to the ER it was only about 5 mins when we were called to a room. The doctor in the ER pressed on his stomach and thought maybe it was an appendicitis so he called for an ultrasound and CT. Well his CT scan can back showing a kidney infection so they called for a urine test. My son wouldn’t willing pee in a cup so the nurse pressed gentle on his bladder and realized that it was hurting him excruciatingly. I asked the nurse if she thought it was a UTI and she said more than likely it was. So the doctor came in and said he had a severe UTI and that he was going to be admitted. Well his pediatrician was sadly wrong. I am so glad I brought him to Valley Children’s. They have been so amazing to my son here. All the nurses and PCTs are so kind and genuine and so is the doctors. As a young mom who was all alone and has never been in a situation like this I was so worried and riddled with anxiety and I think some of the nurses could tell and just reassure me that my son will get better and that he was in good hands. They were right. My son has gotten so much better. We are still here for hopefully only one more night making it a 5 day stay. They are super thorough with their care and I appreciate that so very much. They just want to make sure everything is ok so he doesn’t have to come back in even worse condition. I am beyond grateful for this hospital. I pray there is no reason I will have to bring my son back here but for any reason I do I will not hesitate. I will come here. Thank you to all the nurses in the Discovery unit you guys treated me and my son amazingly. Keep up the amazing work.

Valley Children’s is a great hospital with great staff. I had to take my son in to the imaging department and I could not believe how fast we got in and out. It’s nice that they have movies playing in the exam rooms to help distract the kids. My son loves all the pictures and statues of animals throughout the hospital.

Went to go check in at the main entrance and there was this family I’m front of me. The man is trying to tell the security men at the desk which child they are there to see and I notice he has a stutter. The Security was not understanding what he was saying yet the man was clearly saying “Emily”. Both of the security laughed at this man because he could not understand him and was asking him to write it down. He then looks to the two people he came with asking them if they knew the child’s name, from what I can see they really understand English and the security then repeated himself slowly “ Do. You. Know. The. Name. Of. The child” At this point they have the name on the paper and are able find the name. The doctors, nurses and other staff are wonderful. Have had no bad experiences with them. But security on the other hand were rude, I understand it is their job to protect the patients and prevent anything from happening but the way they handled this situation was wrong. I may be over exaggerating but if they are the FIRST people you see when entering the hospital they shouldn’t have laughed at this man for his stutter. This happened on AUGUST 16, 2019 around 8:30-9:30 PM

I am truly surprised at seeing all of the good reviews, yet I suppose I should be encouraged? My own experience with this hospital was horrific. My son was “treated” in 2014 for a kidney condition (that he was born with) He was six months old and after the initial surgery went septic two times due to massive Dr. error. He received 3 surgeries in 10 days (all emergency, due to Dr. error) The hospital staff were incompetent, and the hospital and rooms were filthy. I only feel that I received “adequate” care when he was in the PICU. (When he was intubated after the THIRD SURGERY) There were multiple times when I had to run into the hallway screaming “can anyone help me?!?!?” (because my child was dying) and the response was always “well? Uh... There’s really no doctor on call right now.” I was shocked that despite being at a “children’s hospital “I was told by multiple nurses that they were not able to place an IV on an infant. Three times, THREE TIMES I had a nurse tell me “I can’t do an IV on a baby.”

My family and I had a very nice experience. My son was terrified to go to the hospital so I tried to make it a positive experience for him. I used the appioment card and told him it was his invitation, when we drove up we seen the animal tree's and he was so excited ( so was i ;) they are cool) when we walked in we where greeted and told exactly where to go. My toddler had treatment here and all the staff was friendly and patient. I really liked that they have a screen in the waiting room with your child's current status so you dont have to be wondering what's going on. I hope I dont have to come here again but if I do, this will be my go-to hospital.

I've gone here for emergency for my daughter and recently for my son. When I brought my daughter they took really good care of her and made sure all my concerns where answered and taken care of. As for my son, they transported us to Valleys and they took really good care of him the nurses them selves out done them selves and deserve soo much more than a thank you along with the team of 7 that took care of my son! I really really am greatful for this place and for all the Drs and nurses there.

The Ronald McDonald Housing have been an amazing experience for my sister and brother in law, one thing less to worry about. My high school club and I recently volunteered to donate coloring books and color crayons to the children and were treated horrible. The ladies at the volunteering desk were so rude and looked annoyed for us to be there. My club and I donated over 200 coloring books and crayons and didn’t even get a thank you. A lady followed us out and told us that we were not allowed to be going into the buildings although we had our bracelets to be there. We later went to get some records for my teachers son and as soon as we walked out of the building she was there again following us. We were looking for a way to go to the cafeteria and had gotten a map and it told us to take the elevator. As soon as my teacher went to push the button for the elevator the same lady raised her voice and told us “where do you think your going.” She told us “ I see what your trying to do it’s not gonna work” she went on to say that the hospital has security watching everything when we clearly know that. We were looking forward to donating but after this experience we no longer want to do this again. I don’t see how this is a way to treat your patients and visitors. Those ladies really need to work on the social skills because what they did was not okay!

My daughter broke her arm 4 weeks ago. We had an appointment at valley Children’s Hospital the next day after another hospital set it and splinted it. That night she pulled her arm out of the splint while sleeping. We took to her to valley Children’s Hospital emergency room 45 minutes away because we had that appointment anyway the doctor in the er told us we shouldn’t have come there and now we need to drive back home and come out later. He wouldn’t even splint it until I got angry and asked him if he was saying it was ok her her arm to just be dangling around. We told all this to the orthopedic later and they didn’t worry about resetting the arm and cased it. Now, 4 weeks later one of the bones wasn’t set and is attached at almost a 90 degree angle. Two pedestrians and one radiologist have said it is really bad and now we need to go 5 hrs away for a second opinion. Never did a doctor look at it after just a nurse practitioner. How is it fine when the bone is growing in the opposite direction?

03/06/2015 8 pm - line out the door - But they were fast and tried to take care of us with a full house. From the guards to the nurses were super great with a big diamond nurse named Diane that was super great... so why do I give them a low one star is the doctor was such a rude person that kept us waiting because we did not want to do a glue and asked for stitches to be done. so me made us wait and wait than when he did the stitches he did them wrong to make it harder to take them out that next week. again everyone else was the best of the best again with a full house did so much and Diane again was so great if it was not for her I would of had the hospital manager called in on that doctor. So I say to Valley Children's Hospital kick some butt and have those doctors take a attitude check that they may learn from a great person like Nurse Diane in the ER department. I would call in for an appointment at the Gastrointestinal clinic they say that they make an appointment for me but they never call me back or mail my appointment to my mailing address! Dr. Anita Sicolo should be more considerate and treat the patients better. I left a previous review about this place and I can't believe it got deleted! The doctors in the ENT clinic are really friendly and welcoming. The gift shop is also nice place. The food in the cafeteria is pretty good.

My husband helps events to raise money for this location and kids/family's. Not to pay for lazy nurses who can't do there jobs. Spending 80% of your shift talking about your lives and grouping up hanging out doesn't help any kids. Please valley children's bring this up in your business meetings, me and my husband won't fund lazy individuals to hang out like its high school. My husband would probably manage this hospital and its employees by having the best individuals. He fires people for less if they can't do there job and give it 120%. Valley children's learn your business and your people.

new patients, took my daughter there for follow up with high fever headache and stomach ache and they took urine and blood samples. my 7 years old daughter I have to convince her too get poked for blood. they took blood my daughters blood and let us let go with nothing. 3 days later my daughters vein is turning dark on her skin. they never gave me copy of the work they did. just copy of defining "fever" and" stomach ache" quacks and inexperienced nurse. I'm thinking legal action against them. my daughters blood ain't free for answering questions! not a good doctor.

vALLY CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IS THE NUMBER ONE IN CATAGORAY when my son was one year old , he was having trouble walking ; and running a fever , I took him to a regular hospital and they told me nothing is wrong with him he's just being spoild and hasty , I said ok and walk out came to Fresno CA , and as soon , as walk into the door's too Docotor's out of know where grabed him from my arm and yeld , I need help now and told me every thing was going to be okay , my son was dieing in my arms and , and I never knew that until I walked through those door's I thank the Lord for those too Docotore's that where going on lunch that day .

This hospital is amazing but if you're a single mother of 2 or more kids without any family or friend support. Be prepared to be away from your child until you either get discharged or you have to find a baby sitter

Took child on 5/2/18 and 5/8/18. 5/2/18 child stayed 1 night then discharged the next day. 5/8/18 regular pediatrician called beforehand sent a referral to valley children's, due to possible sepsis. Waited about 3 hours in the ED. Told them fever persisted for about 2 weeks. ED dr wanted to admit but the pediatrician at Valley Children's didn't want to and said they don't know what it is and couldn't admit him cuz they don't know what it is. I'm confused..thought if you don't know what it is you should admit them to find out. Bad sores all over body and mouth and fever and they say it's safe enough to go home? So one Dr said it's bacterial infection and the other one said viral. We were more confused than before and worse of all they do not have a clue what he has and kinda wash their hands and say follow up with your regular dr. Everything they told us doesn't make sense and we were told that she spent too much time talking to us cuz we had asked so many questions. This dr is very insensitive and already came in with the intent of you're gettin discharge no matter what. So basically just very disappointed in not getting any answer and then refusing to perform anymore tests to rule out anything.

My son got transferred and admitted here to valley Children’s Hospital, the staff and doctors were very professional and respectful answered all my questions. Very good with getting my son taken care of. They brought in the Nero surgeon, neurologist and eye doctor to help figure out what was wrong.. and we got better answers then anywhere else we have gone. They are very clean, very big place easy to get lost the play room was great and they had staff that could watch him while I had to do some stuff. We were there for 3 1/2 days. They were awsome and will be the only place I will be taking my son for his treatments. Thank you Valley Childrens Hospital for being attentive and nice I recommend this hospital

He was very informative with our concerns and walked us through step by step with what could be expected if found anything with X Ray result for my daughter. He took his time with us.

Drove from shafter to madera, because it's the best hospital for kids. Well to my son to the ER and waited ab ok it 2 hours, Its understandable. Then waited in a patients room for another hour, then finally some one came in to do testing on my son that was only going to take 15 minutes, but took 1 1\2 hours, just to tell me that they lost my sons test result and that they had to do another test. Over all bad experiences. Will be looking for a better facility to take my kido.

This is probably the best place to take children for two key reasons one they are so quick with care and two they deliver the best care I've witnessed. I always rate them perfectly and I wish I could bring my kids here in place of their primary for non emergent care because they get seen so much faster I wish adult hospitals were this good.

Took my son for a surgical consult for a small (hopefully) benign tumor on his face. We got there really early so we were actually in and out before our scheduled appointment time. Everyone seemed nice enough, especially Tara G., the NP who examined him. She discussed our surgical options, and trusted in my belief that he can handle the minor surgery under a local rather than general anesthetic. She listened to and respected my wishes, and this to me is an indicator of high professionalism. Trust in parents; we know our children best. They scheduled his surgery for a few weeks out and hopefully everything will continue to go as well as it did on our first visit. My other son was born with a similar tumor and because he was a newborn, was treated at Children's Hospital in Oakland. He was treated there by one of the most renowned neurosurgeons on the West Coast, and I found Valley Children's to be every bit as good as Children's Oakland thus far. The ONLY complaint I have with this hospital is the cafeteria. For a children's hospital it seemed there was a lot of unhealthy junk food served and sold, and aside from some a salad/fruit bar, not many healthy options available, especially for vegetarians or vegans like us. It was very much fast-food rather than typical cafeteria food. Work on that and next time I'll give them a 5.

My two year old had HD surgery in August, I was super nervous about the whole procedure. Well let me tell you, as soon as we walked in to the registration department I felt a little more calmed. Was greeted with a smile from the minute we stepped out of the elevator. Dr. Loveland and team was amazing, always kept us informed about my daughter while she was in the OR. Once she was waking up from the anesthesia, she was transferred to an assigned room. The entire room was very cleaned and it smelled nice, not like the usual hospital smell of cleaning chemicals. We had an amazing experience at Valley Children's both times my daughter had her surgeries.

It would be amazing if you could keep a good neurosurgeon there. The remaining ones don’t listen. We didn’t even get to see a neurosurgeon last three visits to er and clinic. Now we are forced again to travel to Stanford (3 hours each way) to see a pediatric neurosurgeon. I’m not the only one who has been forced to do this. Listen to your patients and their parents. Don’t push them off on another doctor. Please consider special needs kids who have parents who may not both be able to work full time and have care for their kids and travel out of town is expensive. Unacceptable.

1st visit was pretty bad. An x-ray for new born daughter took almost 4 hours. The nurses seemed like they had no idea what they were doing. It was "a new room with new equipment" so our daughter was a test patient? Second time back for a simple explanation of what is seen on her ultrasound. Showed up at 1400 for a 1415 appointment. Multiple families showed up after us and were called in before we were. Waited an hour in the waiting room then called back to wait an hour in the patient room. Plan to be here all day. Pack 3 meals. If we have to come back, will request to be transferred to a better facility.

BE AWARE of a tall dark doctor there. Don't know what his nationality is, but he is quick to suggest your babies to have a urinary tract infection, which requires him to use a catheter and rips baby penis skin all the way back making it tear and bleed. My baby came in for gas and he did this to him. Second time going there, he had a stomach virus and this same Doc again said he "might" have a urine infection, I totally denied him putting my baby through all that unesesarry pain. It's not right that this man is doing this to so many babies. IllI get his name on here as soon as I find out.

The security up front in the er is trash!!! They pick and choose who can stay and who will have to wait outside due to 1 parent and one kid. The triage center also calls people in order of severity when I brought my 3 month old son in due to not being able to breath right and gasping for air. They said these other kids with coughs and fever are more important. This place is a joke tonight. I feel like taking him home and calling the ambulance and having him rushed to the er. Been waiting for over 1 hour and a half and they still haven’t taken his temperature or even checked his breathing. He’s been sick for the past 5 days and this is his second trip to valley children’s in the last week.

I took my daughter for blood transfusion 3 times and was very disappointed. Doctors were great but nurses seems to be untrained. Very long process comparing to other children hospital. One of the nurse used a numbing spray on my daughter which cannot be applied on kids under 3 years if age!

Took my Son to emergency room and all went well till we finished and registration girl made us wait twice as long because she was frustrated I would not tell her my adopted Sons previous name (in front of my Son) so rude too. She seemed frustrated with me and told me we were gonna have to wait a long time before leaving. Everyone one else was so wonderful especially doctor, nurse and techs. It always has to be one person to ruin a review. Today is Sunday December 9th between 7:30pm and 10:30pm my son is 17 year old male and we did make great friends with everyone here except registration girl.

Nurse Stephanie and Nurse Maria made me feel so safe with my baby in the PICU department because I was an emotional wreck. Nurse Isabel from the Apollo demaprtment was also amazing and so informative she noticed baby laying on one side when she slept so she took it open herself to help me swaddle and turn her to the other side to sleep baby didn’t cry with her and looked so comfortable. Nurse Lisa and another nurse that has nice eyebrows and curly hair in a bun were also really awesome and sweet with baby.
