Very clean and happy with the care they provide for my Grandmother

Doctors do not communicate. Doctor discharged my dad when he clearly wasn’t ready. They gave no resources or help. My dad needs 24 hour care but the doctor didn’t “authorize” it so now I’m stuck not knowing what to do. I call them and get no where. The doctor stopped certain medications my dads been taking for years such as digoxin and I can’t get an answer why.

Very nice, attractive hospital. Nurses, Dr.'s, AP's, etc (the staff) is very nice, friendly, helpful & caring. Good Hospital, I only went with a few less than minor issues. So I can't say how a surgery would go; or anything above what is considered minor.

I have nothing but excellent things to say about Verdugo Hospital. My daughter was recently there overnight post her thyroidectomy. Everyone was exceedingly nice and bent over backwards to fulfill my needs as a worried parent and those of my daughter (in her twenties). My daughter needed 3 breathing treatments within the first day after her surgery and the staff responded quickly and efficiently. Her pain was somewhat difficult to manage, but the nurses, especially Rosemary, did an excellent job at explaining the pain management options, took my daughter's complaints seriously when she reported that she needed more pain relief, and saw to it that she got her the pain medicine she needed. We felt that we were in competent, caring hands. My only minor complaint is that, post surgery, my daughter was having a hard time swallowing thin liquids, but was being told to drink her water. (I asked for thickener for her water and instructed my daughter to keep her chin down while she drank that thickened water from a spoon.) Other than that, everything else was perfect. But if I had to say the one thing that was the very best part of our overnight stay at Verdugo, it was the unbelievably attentive, warm, intelligent, wonderful care we received from the CNA Maria. She helped us with everything from soup to nuts, and she absolutely did everything humanly possible to help us and take great care of my daughter. My daughter and I will be forever grateful to everyone who helped us through this difficult time. There are a lot of doctors who've been at Verdugo for a long time, so that says something, too. I highly recommend this hospital. To the wonderful staff we say thank you so much and we'll never forget you.

My spouse died at this hospital after suffering a heart attack. He had to WALK inside because there wasn't a single wheelchair accessible in the emergency room. the staff was completely stupid. After I told the reception about his chest pain and that they were symptoms of a heart attack both the male and female receptionist stood there and asked me for insurance information and said he was too young for a heart attack. I had to yell at them to help him and they asked me to wait in the living room after they came out and wheeled him away. He died about 20 minutes or less later. I have no idea what treatment he received behind the closed doors or if they even treated him at all. After he died and a couple weeks later, I return to the hospital to express my displeasure. If I had felt the hospital did everything they could to save him I would have no problem but they didn't. They were going to move him to a new hospital, Glendale adventist, to have a stint or something put in but they needed to stabilize him and that is why he died, they said. How do I know that the walk inside the emergency room didn't kill him? maybe he would have lived? I'll never know. And, this is really upsetting, when the social worker took his mother and I to see his body we discovered that they hadn't even cleaned up the snot around his nose and face. He had a seizure at the end, his body trying one last time. I could have done without seeing that. When voicing my concerns, a short woman with a thick accent attended me and said she was the nursing or emergency supervisor I don't remember which. In any case, when I got there I saw a bloody piece of gauze on the floor by the emergency reception window and mention this to her in our conversation. She wanted to take me out to a private area but I prefer to talk about it in the emergency room where anyone could hear and see what we were talking about. I was told I would be getting a call back regarding my concerns. I was completely ignored after that. a friend of mine later told me that a doctor here whose name I do not know but I understand still works here told him to finish the job next time he tries to cut his wrists. my friend suffered emotional problems in the past and this was years ago, where he would cut himself and his parents took him to the emergency room once. this hospital is crap and I would go to Glendale Adventist or die instead. Also apparently it is just shy of $3000 for someone to walk into a hospital and die. I wonder how much they would pay me to stop standing outside with a sign that has their Yelp rating and saying "This hospital doesn't care. don't go here"

I have been going to this hospital since it opened for myself, family and friends. The director has made a great impact and the last ER visit for my mom was some of the best customer service ever experience at a hospital.

Beautiful hospital. I especially like the garden atrium. Some of the staff were enjoying their lunches outside. Came in here for the EV plug-in parking. Road-Life Saver!

Horrible horrible place doesn't even deserve one star. Doctor was extremely rude and dismissive. We were recommended to go here to get a psychiatric evaluation by a social worker due to my fathers mental health. My dad has many physical conditions which he has doctors and specialists for already what we needed was mental help for him. The doctor only asked my dad ONE question about his mental health and talked about my fathers previous medical conditions saying he could not cure my father which we knew because we were there for his mental health not physical for my father has his own doctors for that but the doctor was saying he needed to go see his other doctors to help him because it was their job also that he needed a psychiatrist which we are already in the process of getting but we have to wait and my dad needed help now I was utterly outraged by the incompetence of this doctor. So if my dad was suicidal would I tell him to wait off on killing himself till he's able to get the psychiatric appointment ??? The doctor didn't call a psychiatrist to let my dad get a psychiatric evaluation by an actual psychiatrist cause he basically said the psychiatrist would only see him once and my dad needed long term treatment which we knew which is why we are already getting him a psychiatrist but we needed help now. I don't know why he took it upon himself to do the psychiatric evaluation when he himself was not a psychiatrist and only asked one question. I'm appalled and horrified this place is running as a hospital. At first I was outraged that they would not treat and admit my father but now I am relieved he was not admitted I can't imagine what they would have done to him. PLEASE DO NOT GO HERE PLEASE ( the doctor who attended my father was Dr. Laith Alreshaid I can't believe this man has a medical license) update : As I was writing this we got a call from the hospital nurse asking if we could come back first they said they couldn't tell us why then they said because they spoke to a psychiatrist and social worker and they think the doctor may have overlooked something ? My father was there for around 5 hours for nothing and they want us to come back now ? We obviously refused I want to take my father to a place where they will actually help him ! So once again please do not come here or bring any loved ones here !!!

This hospital is okay and nurses here aren't as great at doing their job. They aren't sure of alot of things about their patient whenever I ask for a daily update or why my father have new orders. For emergency room and med/surgical floor. My father has bene here multiple times. Nurses here response slower, somewhat my father was neglected depending on which nurses, I have to constantly keep telling the nurses my dad needs suctioned (he is on ventilator), his ventilator tubing was filled with secretions and caused him to a hard time breathing. It's really obvious the patient needs suction and attention!! If nurses were more aware of their patient, patient wouldn't be suffering and delayed care. All they she to do is check on the patient instead of chatting around with other nurses at the nurse station. In comparison of Huntington hospital, this place is horrible. I'm constantly worrying about my father's care here. First night here, a nurse named Victor. He was the only one who's really good at what he does and made me feel comfortable here leaving my father. Everyone else is okay or below average and now I'm worried. My father is still there and it's been a week now.

Los Angeles' newest NICU and the only NICU in Eastern part of Los Angeles County offering 100% private rooms for every NICU baby. In conjunction with a state of the art birthing center that focuses on the mommy - baby and natural methods of delivery all under the care of world class USC nurses and doctors. Wonderful place to have a baby in the scenic and low stress La Crescenta Valley. I would highly recommend USC-VHH and USC-KECK healthcare to anyone looking for high quality care in the Los Angeles area.

My main complaint is about the on call doctor A. Dorian. I went into their emergency room at around 3:00 am with a kidney stone. I was in excruciating pain and had been throwing up repeatedly. The waiting room was completely empty except for one person. I was waiting there for about 15 minutes before I finally got in, which is not that long compared to some hospitals, but considering there was only one other person in their care at that time it was somewhat reasonable. Once I got to the back, the nurse could not find my vein because I was severely dehydrated so she played around with different needles and poking me here and there for 15 minutes before giving up and two other nurses were called in who just went at it on both arms. Finally, I got the meds and then the on call doctor came in. Dr. A. Dorian. This person had a chip on his shoulder, or just wanted to prove his manhood in front of the three female nurses and my girlfriend that were there. He asked me where the pain was and I told him from my left kidney and front abdomen area down to the tip of my penis. He told me to point and so I did I pointed and drew a line with my finger from the kidney area down to the tip of my penis. He then got angry and shouted at me, “You’re a grown man you can pull your own pants down!” So then, I pulled my pants down and he said, “Where is the pain?” I pointed to the tip of my penis and then he told me to put my pants back on. Did he really need me to pull my pants down? Secondly, he never even asked me to pull my pants down just to point. Lastly, there was no reason for him to yell at me and belittle me in that way. All of this seemed extremely stupid and childish and he just seemed to be putting me in my place, which was unnecessary considering I was in cold sweats and drifting in and out of consciousness because of the meds. After that everything went well except for some uncaring attitudes by the some of the staff which my girlfriend (who is a nurse) told me is normal for these late night shifts as the people are tired and do not want to be there. The A. Dorian guy needs an attitude check for sure and a little more understanding, if he does not like his shift he should go to another hospital and if he wants to prove his manhood he should take it to the gym not the emergency room where patients are at the mercy of his care.

I wish I could give it 0 stars. As a USC alum, I'm embarrassed by it. They lost my Dad's belongings during the transfer from ER to a room. He was a fall risk and they didn't monitor him. He fell trying to get out of bed one evening and seriously hurt himself. The nurse said the beds have alarms to detect movement, but "they don't work"...

I try to avoid the ER there (3 visits total over 2 year period) as it is hit or miss depending on what doctor you get, but as I live 3-4 minutes away, I can at least drive myself there even when having a severe asthma attack which is not recommended. It is rarely crowded so you get in fast (of course I'm having an asthma attack so they generally take me back fast anyway). I've been to many ER's over the years and know that almost all suck so I guess I don't expect much anyway. That said, because 3 of my doctors actually have hospital privileges there and work in the nearby outpatient clinic, most of my records are already in the system and they personally know my doctors, I tend to get a bit better treatment from the ER and sometimes they call my doctors to make sure they are treating my conditions correctly. That said, I have had to be admitted 2 times and my review is based on that. Once in 2013 and once 2014. 2013 - 3 day visit wasn't bad and loved the doctors that I had, but the night nurses were horrid. They didn't even tell my doctors that I was not able to move part of my body that night. My doctor got extremely angry when I told him about it. And, it took forever for them to submit my treatment to the insurance so I didn't get a bill for at least 9 months. HOWEVER, it was taken over by USC by the time that I had my second hospitalization which lasted 4 days. They seemed to keep the day nurses but none of the night nurses I had before were there. It seems they changed the night nurses and the new ones were fantastic. I got ill one night from some medication and the head nurse was knowledgeable enough to know I was not having a heart attack (though she did request a machine be brought to that level as I was not on the floor where those monitors are just in case) but something else. She walked me around the ward 3 or 4 times to get me moving so that the side effects would lessen. Again, I loved the doctors that were there. And, billing went much faster so I got the bill 1.5 months after my stay. All the rooms on my floor were single rooms and the food isn't that bad and you get a lot of choices for food. Showers were a bit hard to move around in. You are in a hospital so make sure to bring things to do (they have internet access so you can bring your own laptop and watch Netflix or do work) and bring ear plugs. They help you to sleep better. The medical records department was fine and easily gave me copies of all the tests and my chart. You do have to fill out some paperwork but that is normal due to privacy laws.

After my son broke his arm, we came to the ER. OMG, we waited so long, my son was just in tears. The staff was rude and not very supportive. Next time, I will just take him to urgent care or a different hospital. I hope today was just a off day for them, otherwise I feel really sad for all the other patients.

My name is Knarik Eyvazoff, a cancer survivor from UCLA, for 22 years, I am an retired accountant, 74 years old with a lot of health issues. on Oct. 26,2015 my husband took me to Verdugo hills hospital/USC emergency, were the Dr. in charge diagnosed, I have pancreatitis, were I had infected hernia, I stayed in that hospital for 6 horrorible days, I thought I will never get out of that hospital, most of the nurses are unprofessional, you should read the heart specialist's report( unfortunate patient!!!!!!), on Oct 31,2015 on my insistence, I finally was released, and attended to my Doctors at St. Joseph Hospital and Cedars- Sinal, and thank God I am doing much better. my review not even one star.

The most horrible uncaring hospital in this era. No dignity no compassion, neither from the doctors nor the nurses. No care whatsoever, where is the board, how can they let this go this bad!!@

Should be -stars, as not only responsible for negligence in my mothers' death in 2002, but now, on January 10,2018, my daughter went to their emergency dept. as she was having a heart attack . Instead of treating her, they sent her down to Burbank , 20min. away, where she died, because if not treated within minutes the patient becomes brain dead. I consider this murder and will suit them this time. How dare they?

My mom is a patient here and says she really likes the doctors, staff and treatment she's receiving. Updates to come.

Dear whomever it may concern, I am extremely disappointed to share that the quality of care here at Verdugo Hills Hospital of USC has been an awful experience for me and my family. My husband still is currently a patient here at Verdugo Hills Hospital. We asked for two days for an overnight sleeping chair. Our request was either ignored or told that it was an impossibility to get a chair. As I walk down the hall way and see that a random Armenian family that just occupied a room had an overnight bed that they had requested 5minutes prior to my request which was made well over 48 hrs ago. I would like to know if my last name needs to end in "ian" to get any kind of help with our requests & patient care around here? Is it because I am not Armenian that our requests are falling on deaf ears & that the quality of care is so poor? Please explain to me, why is it every time I have come here the last 5 times ---that EVERY SINGLE TIME an Armenian family comes in- they get priority over anyone else? I don't believe for one second at this point that this is a coincidence. I feel discriminated against because of how little care, respect, or sensitivity we have received compared to all the Armenian families that have come during the same time of our stay. Since my husband has been in your care you have made many mistakes in the course of action for his care in major and minor areas. It grieves me to say this because I don't think we should be treated so poorly because we aren't Armenian. I'm concerned about the continuity of his care provided by USC Verdugo Hills hospital which is also a family alma-mater. I thought this was a tight knit medical community? I thought that we would be treated with just as much respect and concern as any other patient at this hospital, regardless of our ethnicity. I want to know why Armenians specifically are given a higher quality of care over myself or any other individual-EACH and EVERY SINGLE time I have been here. What is the deal? I would like to understand why we are ignored and not accommodated for ,similarly to, as those specific individuals, the Armenians. It has been so pervasive and noticeable that I can not stand it any longer and am moved to write this letter publicly and in complaint to the board, as well as, the head of this institution. I look forward to hearing back for the reason why the quality of care has been so poor and how we can resolve the matter. We have been staying on the 6th floor. Today is December 16th, 2015 and I am concluding this letter at 11:47pm. Best regard, Patient on 6th floor

My son was born at Verdugo Hill Hospital on a Wednesday afternoon and we were discharged on that Friday afternoon. Upon leaving the hospital the only people that had contact with my son were myself, my wife and my older son. Early Saturday morning, approximately 12 hours after leaving the hospital my newborn had to be taken to Huntington because he had choked on his throw-up and we wanted to take a safe-approach. As a part of their admittance process at Huntington, they ran a nose-swab to check for certain bacterias, and my newborn son came back with a positive for MRSA. As a family, we have since been tested for MRSA and all were tested negative. I wanted to notify Verdugo Hills so they were aware and can investigate to prevent future cases. Upon calling Verdugo, I was transferred to a lady named Angela who is responsible to deal with 'Risk Management.' I left a message with these details to not hear back from her for 48-hours. At which time, I tried contacting her again, and she had heard my message and the first thing out her mouth was "You do realize you're going to have a hard time proving it was transferred here." I would have thought she would want to gather as much details as possible to prevent similar situations in the future. She didn't bother asking about any details, which I had to let her know why I'm fairly confident it transferred at that hospital and provide her details during our time there.

Came here for an ER visit and they did very well in caring for my wife as she was not doing so well. I will say do expect to be in here for hours. It’s busy in the ER, but I understood that the personnel were doing their best to make sure they got through everyone to make sure everyone was getting the care they needed.

I brought my husband to the ER. What an experience. Our provider Kelli Kel was amazing, so attentive, and made my husband informed about everything that was being done. Our nurse, Chloe, was a rock star. It was a very busy night in the ER and not only was she patient and efficient, but she always made sure to check on us to ensure we were being informed as to what was pending and how we were doing. The registration staff, Tiare and Didi, were great and greeted us with their excellent customer service. USC Verdugo Hills hospital is a gem. I’m so thankful for their compassion, and for making an already stressful day, much better.

I've been a patient of this Hospital since early 80's, for over 30 years I've had many procedures, & surgeries there, as well as a few ER trips. I was admitted at 8:10 PM into ER on Sunday 2/14/2016, I left without being seen by an M.D., P.A., or NCP one minute short of THREE & HALF HOURS at 11:39 PM. Considering that I am diabetic, & my glucose level was at a very dangerous level (500+) the lack of action of ER, and specifically the M.D. in charge clearly put my life in danger. I was NOT triaged, NOR was seen by M.D., P.A., or NCP, I was attended by fine nurse “Armine” which took my BP, & glucose level (twice) and put me on IV for the first hour of my stay. For over two hours after the I.V., she was merely trying to find excuses for lack of proper care by the Dr which not only the office refused to give me her name, but forced me to sign improper, and false documents. I was told to sign without knowing what I was signing, and forced to make statement of “Leaving Against Medical Advice” which I was never given, just to exit that chamber of horrors with disgust.

Had a massive migraine and my doctor told me to go to the ER. The staff was caring, quick, and within an hour, I had had blood work, IV fluids, and a CT scan to rule out possible causes. The doctor came in to tell me that the tests revealed I had Peripheral Neuropathy and told me to follow-up with my neurologist. I was impressed with the caring nature of all, and the quick diagnosis.

Very good hospital nurses were very nice and helpful Physical therapist were nice Dr Gilbert is great and Julie was great also

Since USC took over, this Hospital rates (one) or even less. I WILL TRY TO AVOID HERE AS MUCH I CAN.. ER Staff are nice, but unfortunately they ONLY HAVE ONE DOCTOR for the entire Emergency Room...obviously it takes FOREVER until you get any medical help. Patients are left in the hallway, fed in the hallway and being treated in the hallway. Horrible!! They kept us for several hours then admit the patient. NOT HAPPY WITH THIS HOSPITAL AT ALL... DONT BOTHER COMPLAINING TO ANYONE BECUASE YOU WILL BE EVICTED FROM THE HOSPITAL. my experience!! THINK TWICE BEFORE GOING THERE!!

I came here and waited 30 minutes in the ER. When I was taken inside it took another 4 hours to get my pain meds that I never got. The nurse comes up to me to tell me it will take couple more hours because they only have 1 doctor for the whole hospital. It should be illegal to make the paitence wait more than 2 hours for pain meds. Please keep in mind the nurses have zero empathy for the patience everyone is a nurse now for the money. Be careful of this hospital

Robert Warnock

Much improved since my last visit there. USC has done a good job upgrading procedures. The last time I was there (5 years ago) a woman from finance came to my room, while I was still flat on my back with a 102 degrees temp and pneumonia, and asked for a $1,000 co payment. That was not cool. Nothing like that happened this time and I had an overall good experience.

Sam Yedigaryan

Absolutely the most horrible hospital ever. The most uncaring staff I have ever seen. No compassion or communication skills. My father has been a patient at Verdugo hills hospital for 5 days now. Today is May 16 2019. The staff specially the nurses and case managers. So unprofessional and never on the same page with each other. One nurses treats the patient one way and the next nurses does his or her own way. They are not transparent With information. I even had a doctor tell me something and then the nurses do the opposite. We had to monitor the nurses so they can care for our father. On top of that one of their case managers (Rafael) threatens me over the phone to call the police because my voice was loud when I am catching him with a Lie. Instead of helping in finding a solution for my father’s discharge he’s telling if I go down there and raise my voice he will call the police. I don’t know how the staff at Verdugo hills got to the positions they did. If any of my family members or me need a hospital to go to, Verdugo hills will never be on that list. I am surprised they haven’t killed anyone with all the mistakes they make. STAY AWAY FROM THIS HOSPITAL.

I had a heart attack in the early morning hours of Jan 5, 2018 and was taken by friends to the USC Verdugo Hills Hospital emergency room. A large staff in the emergency room addressed a life threatening situation immediately with true professionalism and expediency. They did an EKG, determined I had a heart attack, and stabilized my condition so that I could be transferred to the cardio unit at Providence St Josephs for surgery. If not for their prompt and skilled action I would not be alive today. Unfortunately I cannot remember the names of the staff who attended me, but I hope that they see this review to know my appreciation.

Absolutely horrible!! As anything accociated with Glendale,ca My wife was admitted at 2:am on a sat. After we were refused transport to Huntington Hospital in Pasadena because of vomiting blood and a deep conjestive cough that caused the bleeding we ended up here(nightmare) they had no Drs. On duty- it took the staff 45 min. to figure out how to stableize her! 24hrs. later with the so called specialist refusing to see her ant told the staff an endoscopy and surgery would be required! Without even looking at her!! Who is this quack? After 3 calls to the Dr. he said not to call him about this problem- The same thing happened 1 year ago we drove to Huntington in worse shape these folks stableized her did the endoscopy after 8 hours - determined no surgery was needed after three days of clear fluids and easy on the system foods she was released. Diagnosis- a slight bleeding ulser and abraision to the esophagus- no surgery required. Praise God for Huntington Hospital- Pasadena,ca. As for Verdugo hills, Drs. Weren't there, gave Wrong advise, didn't care- they SUCK!!! The same carpet has been there for 30 years or more Giant stains everywhere, tattered carpet and many thresholds, smelled like deodorized urine, USC Has not helped at all- it should be condemned torn down never to be re-built !! Hence the nickname Verdugo Kills

They are the best. I never saw a nurse that wasn’t nice. Since all the merge by issue I had everyone was kind and extremely nice. Great team. Best surgeon Dr McKinsey was awesome. Everything went smooth and for everything I was going through they were very professional and patient with us. Now my mother has a Pacemaker and gets to live a longer life. I felt the doors open after so many doors have closed in my life. They are the best. Thank you and keep up the great work. I will recommend them so people can have the awesome experience I had.

I have been to the hospital and ER 5 or 6 times including taking our children a couple of times. The hospital staff especially the nurses are rude and under-trained. They would regularly ignore requests qbd needs and when showing up had the attitude of don't give a **** Caring staff could make up for claustrophobic mood of hospital building, but their lack of professionalism adds to it!! Would not recommend and would not go again now that I have a different insurance .. Kept going there only because my doctor was the best. I

Just had my baby here and the entire experience was top notch. We had an unexpected stay in the ICU and we were treated with respect and top level care the entire time we were there. From the doctors to the nurses to the RTs, techs and cleaning staff, top notch people at a top notch hospital. Thank you USC!!!

An incredibly poor hospital, masquerading as a good one.

Was treated with respect & everything I needed was provided promptly. Nurses& aides were delightful. My only complaint is that I was not set up with therapy for s while & I need therapy. I would say it was a great place to be when you hurt.

I was honestly blown away by the Emergency Room. I work in the hospital setting and received nothing but amazing care from every staff member I came in contact with. When the patient in the bed next to me had an issue it was addressed immediately and the staff was caring and truly seemed to want what was best for the patients in their department. I highly recommend this facility.

Watch out for their ER Dr. John Crab -crabby like his name and totally uncompassionate! I was in excruciating pain due to original chest pain, but then nurse Monica shoved my back when turning on my side then grabed and twisted my arm with a grip so tight that I couldn't move my arm. I SCREAMED in pain and cried that she hurt me. The two other nurses in the room turned a blind eye, saying she didn't do anything. My pain now even worse, I asked for pain medicine...just extra strength tylenol was all I requested and the ER Dr. Crab said no without even giving a reason why. I repeatedly asked as I was crying in pain for over an hour before my discharge. That insensitive subhuman still said no. Needless to say I'm filing a complaint with the dr. and nurse Monica!!!

Nursing care is unprofessional . Once I waited 1hr and 15 minutes for pain medication ! I had to make a call from my cell phone to the nursing administrator I was told know one should wait that long for any nursing needs . Nurse told me she was busy shift change and reports. Administrator called her and told her to take care of me .she came in didn’t say a word to me when I said hi or thank you completely disrespectful . This was just one of many problems at verdugo hills hospital ! Thank you for reading .

I took my daughter in to the Emergency Department this morning because she had been complaining of a very severe sore throat the night before. The staff were very warm and friendly. I had never used the ED services at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital before, but recently learned that their Department won an award from USC for the great services that they deliver to their patients. So, I thought I would give them a shot since I had a few terrible experiences at Huntington Hospital. I was so happy that I took my daughter to USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. We were only there for 31 minutes and in that short time she was seen right away by Dr. Montoya and diagnosed. We were given a prescription for antibiotics, a note for school, and discharge instructions. The nurses were awesome and made my little one feel at ease. I would highly recommend the Emergency Department services at USC Verdugo Hills Hospital. They are 5-Stars in my book. I will gladly return there if the situations arises again!

My father checked in to USC Keck Verdugo having been transferred from SM/UCLA. He has Alzheimers and was in need of a transitional place before going to assisted living. He was sent to the geriatric psyche ward on the 7th floor. On a positive note, the nurses and administrative team (social worker) were stellar. That is where the positive experience ends... Neither my Mom nor my 2 siblings ever met a Dr. during the 7 day stay, despite our NUMEROUS requests to speak with a psychiatrist. My father was prescribed medications without a Dr. having a conversation with a family member. My mom had one conversation with the psychiatrist (Dr. Pillaet) who assured us my Dad would sleep. This did not happen. My Dad went days ( without sleep. He never slept more than 2 hours. He was surrounded my two patients who wailed loudly 24/7 and screamed throughout the day and night. We were unable to change his room despite numerous inquiries. We had to inquire time and time again regarding the status of my father. This is supposed to be a psychiatric ward for geriatrics. We never received a diagnosis, let alone any feedback. I would put 0 stars if that was an option.

This is not a place to go for any type of Emergency situation. The staff here needs more training on HIPPA and being more sensitive to disabled patients. A lady in the waiting room told my deaf nephew to be quiet. She was angry that he was talking to loud!!!! And then when I tell her that he is deaf, she says well you should teach him not to scream!! SMH!

As i suspected, a good time to visit this hospital would be right before the time most people eat dinner as there would be few people there...and yes that was the fact and not one single person was waiting so i checked in and yes there is no wait and i will be seen next. ok...so as the next hours rolls by after everyone who has enjoyed a leisurely dinner at home comes to the emergency room and it fills up quickly and one by one every single person is seen before me and remind you i am there for a true emergency with internal bleeding. They didn't think i would bring this to their attention but they were quick to try and cover it up, too late...at this point it was approaching 5 hours and i had to try another emergency room, if you decide to come here, understand that if no one else has a life threatening emergency like there head has to be reattached, then they have a responsibility to see first come first serve...be sure you hold em to it!!!

One of the best all-around medical facillities you're ever going to find - treating a wide age-range. Having World-Class specialists and surgeons, right there on staff/the premises. They've saved my life many times over.

I was scheduled for surgery a month in advance. I got time approved off work. My GF got time approved to care for me after surgery. I got the lab work done and completed the pre surgical appointment. Then I got a call from the doctor's office saying that the doctor was scheduled to be at County USC hospital on the day that I was to have surgery and that they will have to reschedule the surgery. This just isn't acceptable. I looked for an email contact to administration, but apparently they aren't interested in hearing about things that need improvement as the "contact us" doesn't include written submittals, only phone numbers. I want this in writing so that others know how this hospital operates.

This hospital is the WORST! The only reason they have a star is because I couldn't post the review otherwise. Their billing department incurs in fraudulent practices and over charges the insurance company, then, they try to pin in on the patient and hire several collection companies to harass and threaten. The risk management person, Angela Peachy promised me over a month ago she would resolve this and would call me back. She has not done any of what she promised. When speaking to their billing department and my insurance company, the billing department admitted to over charging the insurance. The people from the billing department have bad attitudes and are disrespectful and useless.

I was doing a Ex Lap case the RN did not want to do a final count. I refused to leave the OR until the count was done the tech who was supposed to relieve me was in another OR room asleep. The next day I was taken off the schedule when I returned to work I was told that it was my last day no explanation. I believe I was treated this way because I am black. The OR has very unsafe practices. The manager Kelly leaves everyday early leaving the OR staff with little or No support. I filed a incident report with the hospital they never contacted me. I filed a complaint with the labor commissioner office and OSHA for retaliation termination and wages owed against USC verdugo Hills Hospital

Went to ER with my son that had fever over 103 and rhey didn't care waited for over an hr in waiting room with my son crying. POOR ER staff uncompassionate and in the end I ended up with a problem with social services because of their staff to end up knowing that the staff lied and gave false accusations to Social Services about me and my son very poor hospital don't go there

I've had both of my children there seven years apart 1992 & 1999 there were changes for the better. My daughter had a second out patient surgery on her knee here by Dr. Owens he's great. In comparison to the first hospital she had her first surgery in VHH was fantastic. Chet did our intake he was knowledgeable, informative, kind and had a great sense of humor. All of the staff were great. We have always had a great experience. My grandmother on the other hand was given the wrong medication which had some terrible side effects, so I guess it all depends on who you get hopefully now that USC has incorporated staff the two will make this hospital even better. This is my hospital, I think its the best in the San Fernando & San Gabriel Valleys.

Christine Hart

Do not go to this hospital if you are concerned about your health or your family's health. The inpatient patient care is below par and so is its ER and Radiology. My mother had MRI done as an outpatient at the hospital and when the specialist looked at the results, he said that the 2 MRIs are contradicting one another.

Juanita Rodriguez

In the waiting area with my dad so he can donate blood for his up coming surgery. We had an appt. for 12pm, we arrived at 11:30. A nurse walks up to my dad and asked if he can come back 30 minutes later. We asked why, the nurse told him that a lady just arrived late (her appt. was at 11am) so they took her ahead of him. WHY DO THEY MAKE APPOINTMENTS!!!!!
