This place could be good with the right leadership. As it stands, the head of clinical duties is pretty green and lacks the ability and self control to lead or motivate staff. I heard the place has been bought out by investors though. That's hopeful. Maybe they will finally put someone in charge who has leadership and people skills and who isn't afflicted with traffic cop syndrome.

My mother who is in a coma was placed here for a few months and they did a horrible job taking care of her. They hardly replaced her bandages and she was often soaked in her own urine and nurses took forever to change her. They never bathed her or even wiped her down with water. Her nails were unkempt and her arms were always swollen despite the nurses telling us they were properly elevating them when they were not. My mom looked so miserable here. There was an instance where a nurse even told us that my mother wasn't going to live very long. Overall terrible experience and quite traumatic to see my mom so miserable. I'm sure with other patients they are better, but for patients in comas I'd recommend finding another group to house them.

I was recently hospitalized at Kindred Hospital and I had a pleasant stay. Most of the staff was friendly and caring. Some would go beyond what their duties were to ensure that I had what I needed and were compassionate and careful when necessary. I would like to thank them for their help and support in ensuring that my stay was pleasant. I would also like to thank the therapists for their help, encouragement and devotion to make sure I gave it my all during our therapy sessions. Also the wound care team for their effort to get me well and on my way and for their patience with me in dealing with my pain. Thank you very much.

Samuel always took great care of me even to the point of going beyond what he was expected to do. He seemed to observe and noticed what I needed before I even asked. No matter how bad I may feel he always had a way of making me feel better. There is so much more. I could say . Then there is Ron an LVN there are many things that are similar he really picked up on my needs he had amazing respect for me as an individual. He responded to my humor even through a most difficult day. I would like to thank them both and I'd like to mention they both belong in this profession. Thanks again for making my stay a comfortable one.

In general the staff from the Dr to Evs genuinely care about your well being and continue to display a selfless attitude toward all patients. I appreciate the individualized care of social worker Mee hee and the patient advocate Denise who go out of their way to present patients with resources during and after treatment so your not left in the dark through any faze of your stay and after. It very appear ant that patient comfort and quality of care is the prime focus of everyone in this hospital . Yours truly Mr Angelo Michael Negrelli

The next day Jan. 25, 2019. I came to visit my Dads. And everyone at the Hospital was very nice and helpful. They all speak English well. Maybe it my own imagination. They really taking good care of him. I am so impress for the Nurses there. I just have to wait and see the outcome of it. This is only base on my experience with Kindred Hospital in Santa Ana.

I have visited my relative and friend at Kindred Hospital Santa Ana for more than 3 months. I have great respect for the staff - and administration! From the CEO, Morgan Topper (whogave us our original tour) that I have seen fill in at reception when necessary, to the Head Nurse Kathleen, to admissions (Veronica), case managers (Thuy and Nancy) , patient advocate AnnMarie, and more! The nurses (Roxana, Lynette, Edna, and more), LVNs (Mark, Steve, and more), CNAs (Martha, Luz, Elias, and more), RT (Roderic, Ron, Alicia, and more), Housekeeping (Nellie and more), Unit Secretaries and doctors... Too numerous to mention everyone. I have special love and appreciation for Wound Nurses and LVNS Tony, Flora, and Florida! I am not listing all, but a special shout out to Dr. Khavarian, Dr. Kale, and ALL of the specialists that have been so gracious and forthcoming with information and explanations. I have been able to visit 2-3 days every week. On those few occasions if something seems amiss, it is handled in a timely manner. If there is an urgent concern, it is not unusual for more than one person showing up offering to help. They are working with so many patients with so many degrees of care necessary, that it is easy to understand if I have to ask a second time for something minor. We visited other hospitals prior to choosing this one. I am So Grateful that we chose this one! Thank you, Kindred Hospital Santa Ana. I am looking forward to the time when your patient and my friend is able to tell you, himself!

I have been a patient here for 10 months. I came here After a stroke. While I was here I experienced a lot of different things. I had different needs that needed to be met. The kitchen put out some great food way ab6ove expectations. I lost about100, pounds.and it was delicious.the nursing care was great. I absolutely became friends with all of them. I really appreciate Jacki she really is the best all around person, who is an amazing nurse, and Gloria the housekeeping lady is top notch. She really cares about the patient. She really goes above and beyond. Florida from wound care took extra special care of me. I didn't know there was this much nice left in the world

I can only describe my mother's stay at kindred as a growth experience. Kindred has the kindest, most loving staff that are trained to use expertise, and training to help all their patients and assist family members understand healing processes. Nancy Jenks, Rn, Bsn Case manager is awesome. She will make sure your family needs are all met. Dr. Sanjivan Singh Kohli, M.D sees the future of his patients and pushes them to recovery.Kindred is a starting point to begin healing. The facility will not let you down. They are there to perform expertise. Dr. Kale, and Dr. Kavarian are a God send. They showed my mom faith. Thier talent is impeccable. Your family member under thier care will survive and live. God is good All the time. Trust, Faith, and know Gods favor is on your loved one.

This is a great place for anybody that is really ill. They treat you like family here, I have been a patient for over 3 months and everybody works together and they treat you with love and respect. All the departments communicate and discuss your improvement and plans for improvement. They ask me what my goals are and involve me in all decisions. The staff is great and this is the best place for anyone for short care or long term. You are never alone here. The case manager and patient advocate will speak with you and help you with what you need.

My mom was recently staying at this hospital. She was there for almost two months before she had a massive stroke. I would go to be with mom every afternoon and I saw all the care and concern all the nurses had for mom. Mom was very weak and needed to be fed by mouth on her meals and the nurses would do it with all care. Many times mom was feeling a little depressed and the nurse aids would come in and talk to her and try to lift her spirits. They became as a close friend to mom and I really appreciated all the time they took with a lot of care to be helpful to mom in all ways. Mom also was bed ritten and they would come in and clean her, made sure she was changed and comfortable before her dialysis everyday. I highly recommend this hospital. They were amazing with my mom on what we didnt know were her last days. I also saw how they took care of the other patients even though their family members were not present which speaks a lot of their care. Love them and really appreciate their professionalism.

I have been to Kindred Hospital, in Santa Anna twice. Once in 2014 and 2017. Every nurse that was assigned to me was knowledgeable, kind and courteous. The over all staff knew exactly when and how to make me as comfortable as possible for my stay. The patient advocate, AnnMarie, was very helpful in many of the situations I came across. She helped explain and followed up on everything that I had a question on. I was also feeling down and out, she took the time to listen and help me through several of my difficulties. The food services, for the hospital, we're always on time with no problems with distribution of the meals for me. I also would like to point out one lady, Connie, who took my meal orders. I remember her from the last time I was here and just to see her in the morning made my day brighter. I would rate Kindred hospital above all other facilities that I have been too. Clean, courteous, professional and extremely good at getting myself back in the saddle again. Not to forget the staff of physical therapy. They got me back on my feet and mobile again. Thank you, Dennis, Victor and James, who I had last time in 2014. Excellent work gentlemen.

My Dad was admitted into Kindred Hospital on 7/01/2014. My dad was at Kindred for about 10 months, and I got to say that my dad was always treated with Care and Respect. The staff was always very helpful, including Social Services and Charge Nurse. I was my dad's primary care giver and I was always there asking questions to the nurses/Doctors, and I would always receive positive feed back. I would highly recommend Kindred Hospital to anyone who has a love one in need of one. My most sincere Thanks to all of Kindred Hospital Staff. Love always, Genny Venegas

If you have a choice, go somewhere else. Witnessed several health, OSHA, HIPAA, & safety violations while there visiting a loved one who was there for over a week. Basic hygiene such as bushing teeth, bathing and changing of hospital gowns and bedding were ignored. There were leaking toilets and fecal matter on the bathroom walls and untreated waste water being openly drained into sinks meant for hand washing.

So this place is absolutely the worst! The nursing staff is so rude, my father was placed here because he had a stroke and was not himself. He woke up and had to use the restroom and so he pressed the call button on the remote and 45 mins go by an no answer! I get there to visit and he tells me he's been waiting to use the restroom so I hit the button and still no response, I walk out of the room and I tell his nurse who is just standing in the hallway and she says "I'm busy"! STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!!

My husband was there for 1 week and only because that’s how long it took to get enough dr signatures to remove him. He was underfed, I.v. Medication never given, feces all over bedrail and bedframe from a previous patient, and his roommate was receiving dialysis which was being drained into bathroom sink. His catheter bag would be filled to capacity and urine in hose, and I would have to bring it to nurses attention - then wait up to an hour for it to be drained. He would be left with bedpan under him for hours at a time which put him in unnecessary pain. I would not recommend this hospital to anyone. Ever.

Unfortunately the lowest you can put is a star. This place doesn’t even deserve that. So many things wrong with this “hospital” a majority of their staff does not speak English, they refuse to obey the drs orders when it comes to medication. They will let you family member suffer in a lot of pain. Our family member was covered in bruises and when we ask why they tell us they don’t know or what happened. If you ever unfortunately have to come here please please check on your family member constantly. My grandma only had one amazing nurse Jim who made sure she was taken care of and out of pain. They don’t care about the elderly. And the nurses don’t care about them either which is horrible. My mom had to give my grandma a bath, her nails were disgusting. The nurses are horrible on the phone to you, they lie to you and say they give the patients medication but they actually didn’t.

My mother was recently hospitalized at Kindred Hospital. The entire staff and ICU nurses were remarkable. All staff treated us with the utmost respect and kindness. My mother received unbelievable medical care and all staff were very kind and compassionate to my mother and helped us through a very difficult period. Thank you Kindred for your exemplary service.

As soon as my sister-in-law was transferred to Kindred Hospital of Santa Ana from Fountain Valley Regional Medical Center, my family was very impressed. We were warmly greeted by a very friendly staff in the ICU, the front receptionist and the head nurse administrator on duty. We were given a thorough presentation, a tour of the facility and ample opportunities to ask questions. It became obvious in the following days that my sister-in-law was beginning to improve, that her care was constant and carefully monitored, and that everything was being done to make her comfortable. Fortunately, our hospital experiences have been limited, but Kindred is at the top of our list.

This place is completely gross, Unsanitized, and they don’t even care about the patients. When patients need assistance they over drugged them so the nurses are not bothered. I just saw the nurse doing it to my brother and I kept telling her not to sedate him! And she still did it ! Come see it with your own eyes.

This place needs some work. They have not checked in on our family member for 3 hours. When we ask for help to reposition him or change his diaper, they say they are busy but will be "right in". Well, 45 minutes later we have learned that they are not coming and we need to do it ourselves. When we have voiced our concerns to admin all they tell us is that we need to tell the nurses to help us. They drop off his medication for us to give it to him. What's most disturbing is there has been 2 instances where they have given us 2 of the same pill, which he was only suppose to have 1. They also have poor communication between night and day nurses as they are often asking us "did he have this medication already because we don't have anything written". How does this happen in a hospital? If we were not constantly there I don't know how they would take care of my father-in-law. 2 stars if for the 1-2 nurses and doctor we have found that actually care about their job. If you can avoid this place, please do for the sake of your family member.

My wife spent over 2 months here after complications from colon surgery. This is a facility for people who require long term rehab services, so the people here are pretty sick. This puts a lot of pressure on the staff, especially doctors and nurses. However, the doctors were very attentive and patient, especially my wife's primary doctor, Dr. Khavarian. He really takes the time to explain the situation and never rushes. The nurses were the same way. All of the nurses had a smile on their face and did what was required on a timely basis, never complaining. I must give kudos especially to nurse Sam who was assigned to my wife more than any other nurse. This guy has nursing in his DNA, very caring. Social services, case manager, patient advocate, and physical and occupational therapists were all very good and attentive. Bottom line, if I required this kind of treatment, I wouldn't hesitate to be admitted here. Paul Wenger
