Review in progress... Liked the "cafeteria lessons" so grateful for this! Hoag provided pizza that in 17 minutes would become some "Math Heads" dinner at IVC. I had a tiny feast with sourdough (sans margarine) and coffee. Many Physicians at the cafeteria fully encased in orchestrated silver bubbles of cognitive dissonance with smiles. They helped to guide me to the happy place instead of something/someone who was "out of order" and ready to blow hot and smelly. Aesthetics at Hoag could please Greene & Greene and perhaps Schindler with its towers of modern glass reflecting white billowing hovering stratus clouds drifting as somber patients were being admitted.

I had extensive spine surgeries, by dr. Richard Lee. He’s an incredible doctor, and I love how all the rooms are private, and clean.

Good care for their patients...great doctors and nurses...hope it stays that way and won't change in the future... After all being Dr. Or nurses patients should come first and not medical insurances or money

09/11/2014 @ about 6:00PM, a very busy evening at the ER. I was shocked to see the staff in particular two sloppy males, that were so rude. A woman, who's husband was in a wheel chair, she was clearly anxious over her husbands condition, asked how much longer until she could be seen, and the guy in the reddish hair, nurses told her if her husband stopped breathing he would put them in the front of the line. How rude! The two male nurses you had working that night are a disgrace, I had been in your location for 9 days, and overall my experience was good. it would have been nice to have been given some body soap prior to my last day there, especially since during my stay the floor only had two patients. I asked about my fever, they said you have none, I asked to use an ear device since the one he used in mouth was left in my mouth for less than 30 seconds. mind you my primary had just taken my temp at 5PM, 101, and they refused to take it again. and yes in the morning still had fever 101 for 7 days. shame on the staff you had on that night!

We are long time HOAG customers and we have always used HOAG Hospital in Newport. Yesterday I had a procedure done at HOAG Irvine’s surgery unit. I was very impressed and totally satisfied with my nurses, Mindy, Frank, and Reese were excellent in providing great care for me.

My family and I had spent the horrific day in June of last year here in the emergency room for 12 hours. They kept us there that long and did numerous UNNECESSARY tests on my grandmother so they can get as much money as possible from Medicare. At the end of which they did a thora centisis, puncturing her lung. During those TORTUROUS hours, the nurses wouldn't give us a pillow or blanket, were aggressive and hostile, including the doctor. Once you go to the ER they will keep you hostage- they will not release you on time. They will keep you there against your will - I have seen this with my own eyes. On top of this they have security guards everywhere that try to intimidate you. I will never come here again and will be relaying my concerns to their corporate office and this place WILL be investigated for the treatment my family has received and this wrongdoing. They should and will be held accountable.

So polite with patients but they suck on keeping the appt for the time scheduled. Be prepared to wait 45 minutes for your appointment that you arrived on time.

Worst stuff ever, I have been waiting with my wife more than 3hrs in the emergency room, a lot of patients and they don’t have enough employees, patients complaining and they don’t have solutions!

Doctors and nurses are really kind and professional, I had my nose surgery here, I don't know how express my emotions and happiness about doctors and staff about their services I was hospitalized here. Their service and helping is unforgettable. I really want to appreciate all their afford .

the worst hospital, the worst emergency. never ever come here, even if you are about to die

Brought my daughter in to the emergency room today for severe breathing difficulties and a very high fever. We were treated with kindness, respect, and genuine concern. Upon arrival, we entered the wrong door and couldn't find the emergency room and we were escorted by a receptionist who walked us to check in. There we were greeted by Matthew in the emergency room, who was very kind and gentle with my daughter, who was scared and crying due to being so sick. He continuously checked on us during our 3.5 hour stay. He even checked on her when we were walking out to ask how she was feeling. Although it was a long day, the nurses were thoughtful and brought my daughter some crayons and paper to pass the time. Both our other nurses and our PA were also very attentive. I would definitely return to this emergency room should the need arise. Thanks Hoag for taking care of my child.

Came in today for my son on a 5150 hold ! While waiting for a psychologist to come in my son started getting a little upset . The security officer comes running in tackles my son with he's foot against he's back , yelling and screaming for me to get out ! The security officer was rude maybe you need to do some research on client care with the officer and train him. The Dr and nurses always amazing at hoag but this security guide is worthless and uneducated doesn't have any idea how to deal crisis situations He's a security guard not a police official.

High blood pressure without symptom is silent killer. What is your standard emergency treatment when someone comes with BP of 196/118 without symptom? I’m asking this, because last Tuesday, July 17 around 5:30pm i rushed my husband to the emergency for a very high blood pressure reason. Upon admission his BP was 236/120 and upon assessment of PA Mallory, his BP was 196/118. He was just interviewed, and upon knowing that he doesn’t have any symptoms, we were discharged right away and instructed us to come back once he feel one of the symptoms. I understand that they can’t give treatment right away without instruction from the primary doctor. We gave the name of primary doctor anyway., but what disappointed me was the fact that his heart condition was not even checked even through ekg before he was discharged. And PA Mallory was so disappointing telling us not to scare ourselves by frequently monitoring the BP, she said it’s just a number, the number spells level of risk and not an idiom for the birthday “oh don’t mind the age it’s just a number” i think it’s not applicable to say “oh don’t mind your bp it’s just a number”. She even advised my husband that he can go to gym and do all sorts of workouts despite of the BP. The other confusing instruction she said was “be sure to have log of your bp”. She said don’t monitor frequently but log the bp, where will we get the number looking at the ceiling. Honestly we went home frustrated and scared of what might happen overnight, because I told them that his bp didn’t respond to the medication he was taking given at the urgent care. AND WE WE’RE BILLED FOR $1,056.00 for just checking the BP and asking if my husband feels any symptom!

Do NOT visit this facility if you have open access plan or paying from your pocket. This facility has extremely outrageous rates for the services they provide here. We ended up getting the same lab work and scans done for less then half the cost and this facility was unwilling to adjust rates...even though it's next to my house we will not be going again here☹️

I was taken there I guess after a panic attack.. Never told more than that really sad that I don't know anything and wasn't told anything from the `Staff'

Very lazy and irresponsible nurses. I am an oral Surgen with more than 20 years experience in the medical fields never seen any hospital with this much laziness in their staff. It was so amazing every time called nurse regardless it was during daytime or night time. They did not bother to come and see why I need a nurse!!!!!!! For any question I asked from nurses, the answer was I will check and come back let you know but same story again ..... you heard nothing. Great doctors but unfortunately majority of the nurses made our experience with this hospital very bad.

Timothy Scavo

Excellent patient care. Hoag lives up to its fine reputation. They actually saved my wife's life recently. Thanks to the doctors and staff in the Emergency Department, Intensive Care Unit, and the upper floors.

Karen Crisco

I would give them 100 stars if I could!!! The ER staff is absolutely amazing! They go above and beyond to help their patients and make sure their patients families are taken care of and comfortable while there. My daughter has been in ER for almost 2 days now, had to be monitored, and the staff treated us like family. I couldn't say enough nice things about them. Amazing customer service

Nancy Snyder

I am going to have surgery soon. Reading some of these reviews causes me concern because I thought Hoag had a gold standard reputation. I can see there are trends in good and bad care in the ER. Triage or Triage Nursing seems to be a serious problem when it occurs and maybe staffing. Accountability needs to be addressed in order to keep those standards high. I know staff works hard in ER, though I won't divulge my knowledge base, but Holiday Party revelers should keep the laughing on the breakroom when you have seriously ill pts arriving who don't want to be there. It's a cold and scarey night. Caregive like you're getting paid triple time. This attitude is not Hoag Standard. Thank you to Patient Quality Control for addressing any problems that are posted on this site, because I'm not going to have my surgery here; no way.

My family has unfortunately had a few awful visits to the ER of this hospital, I have never met doctors who were more uninterested in finding a resolution for their patients. The nurses and techs we met were great and this review is not for them. HIGHLY would not recommend the ER of hoag irvine.

Last week I had my first seizure, two actually, in a decade. The first seizure had me in an ambulance to the ER where the drill is usually to do blood work and an eeg. The nurse there was so rude and so bad at her job - she jabbed me with an IV needle but without the catheter attached so blood just spurred everywhere. Come on lady I'm half brain dead and I could do better! I was in there for 2 hours too and she literally did nothing and no doctor came by. Considering I came in in an ambulance unconscious this is pretty bad! Then I had another seizure and woke up a few days later on the 5th floor of the hospital. I found out later that I was quickly put into icu and critical care, and for whatever reason my lower brain stem unconscious garbling was taken as consent against a spinal tap....but I wasn't cognizant! However when I did come to a few days later I found out I had typhoid fever and pneumonia. Thank you dr Robinson for saving my life. I was out of the hospital a few days later with some antibiotics and the pneumonia is pretty much gone now (though my intestines are certainly still fried). So ER: 1/5 stars. Or even 0. But the icu (from everything I heard later) and actual hospital: 5/5 thanks for saving my life

I am writing this my name is Susan and I was at hoag irvine emergency on Thursday December 24th in hope they would help me while I am bleeding since my mucus plug was compromised due to other bad health workers telling me to take nitrofurotoin mono-mcr saying safe to take even pregnant???? Even rite aid pharmacist say it is safe? This is another story??? In regards to hoag irvine??? They did nothing to help?? I MEAN NOTHING TO HELP!! MADE WORSE??? Not to save life?? To hurt a baby and me??? Moving my placenta to anterior position is dangerous??? Causes fetal death?? Or if lives?? Los birth weight or ... I used to exercise almost often now I can barely open a water bottle??? One of white not so bright co worker suggested to go to ER??? Still I waited?? I had no pain while bleeding? And I heard of someone bleeding while pregnant and her doctor see up her cervics closed Abd she delivered healthy baby girl? This was 30 years ago??? And now I was thinking something can be dine to help??? Instead jeopardizing baby and myself??? Lied about one tube of blood taking out instead took out four tubes when I need that blood?? Done nothing to help? And held there for three to four hours??!!!... ultra sound??? Saw baby and since it is unconfirmed pregnancy she could not let us see the baby !!! She said she need to stay in pelvic area?? Did not told me about blood test?? Just let me sign paper saying I am calm now and my blood pressure is better with out test?? Say sign papers and leave??? She snuck another paper below that for me yo sign without telling what it was???these sort of monsters are at emergency??? For what ??

I took my grandmother to the hospital and my family was very demanding on the nurses. They had genuine patience. Empathizes with my family and went the extra mile for us. Their level of care was by far the best I have ever experienced.

maritza ganddini

Nice staff, good service but ridiculous slow. We were there for over 8 hours; it seemed busy at the beginning but not still in what is considered normal. They are just to slow for each procedure. The feeling is forgotten, pretty much you have to be checking with them to see what's going on.

The two receptionists, especially the Asian woman in the ER were rude and did not seem to genuinely want to help me. If anything, they deterred me from being treated here because they were so uninviting. I would have walked out this ER if I had not been in so much pain and discomfort.

Carolyn L Carr

I am 70 years old and have been in many emergency rooms in my life. This one treated me horribly. First of all I came in because I was urinating every five minutes for over an hour this morning and I had pain in my back where my kidneys were. I had to call someone for another reason this morning and she said the same thing happened to her mother and they let it go too long and it caused all kinds of complications When I was discharged they indicated on my paperwork they treated me for fatigue and weakness. Hello that was not even close. It is no wonder this morning I got up with the same issue And it wasn't in in til I was almost discharged the first time that they noticed my blood pressure was 200/100. It was only because the nurse was paying attention. The doctor was dismissive and treated me like a child. I am from a medical family and can tell a bad doctor when I see one. He shouldn't have a medical license. He has an awful bedside manner. Even the guy who wheeled me out had a bad attitude and he was studying to be a nurse! I know we have a nursing shortage but we shouldn't let every non empathetic person become one My son has less than a 30 second encounter with this person and he said 'who is that guy he really is someone with a bad attitude I have never been in an emergency room where they didn't have a call button for the nurse ( I had to go to the bathroom several times and the only way to get someone was to yell ). I wasn't offered at so much as a glass of water. I will just go back to Hoag in Newport Beach in the future even if the time frame means the difference between life and death. Because if it was a life-and-death issue this would not be a good place to go! The one thing then I'm absolutely sure of was that they needed my bed. They were trying to get me out of there because I wasn't as important as the next person apparently and they did get me out of there without solving my problem. And I'll bet I heard "I know you need my bed" andat least 20 times while I was there and probably more

Never ever come to this place any more, never recommend any one here, Nurses are extremely disrespect. Very low knowledge, We had car crash sever headache, my sone was on really bad pain and vomiting but they didn't know how to triage stable PT and unstable PT finally I left went to Anaheim. Very rude staff.

Horrible Emergency Room ever! I took my wife for pregnamcy abdominal pain right at 2017 new year time at 12 midnight . The staff were having party and joking around without paying attention to your situation. My main complain starts with the nurse name Rebecca Rowe who never answered my questions and every time she was freaking out or refusing to answer my questions. At first she took my wife's vein in a horrible way that her blood about half a tube was spilling on the bed without any attention. She said it's OK and she just did clean the area. For every normal question that I had she said I'm not fighting with you! She was completely behind everything. At first I was extremely relax but when they took my wife to the radiology room she had hard time breathing during the ultrasound test and I requested to call the doctor Dr. Kain Reed but she never took it seriously. They were all laughing and making jokes but when it came to answering your questions, they claimed we are busy. Also the room was not clean and accupied with damaged medical machines and so many dirty devices with a dirty plastic covering. you could see blood spots on the eating table. Overal, I would never step in to this hospital again. I don't recommend to take your patient to this hospital specially to their emergency room.

One of the worst hospitals that I had ever been to. Honestly when I came to get my sons X-ray records, it felt like I was a stranger. The two records receptionist made me feel like I was someone from the streets and rather then a patient from the hospital. Also they were not customer service friendly and should be replaced. As patients we know that Hoag hospital has more better quality and customer service then what I had felt today as I walked into the records department.but when I called the hospital everyone was so friendly and helpful and advised me that not to worry that the records will be ready when I arrive. When I arrived they made me feel like a stranger and someone bad. I felt very sad and insulted. This will be the last time I would ever come bring my children to this hospital as I don't trust the quality or customer service ever again after I had arrived to the records department today.

MA

The emergency is Very bad and slow. my daughter had a 7/10 burn, treatment time was last, basic unneeded information came first. it took more than 30 minutes to start the process (They said they have their time like three hours as a emergency room) to start the process, and whats worse was the Poor, unexpected treatment.Although, The reception guys had done their work perfectly.

Jae See

We came in for a fever..and they,(several doc and nurses) tried to pressure us into a spinal tap.."because she was good at it".....to the CEO of hoag....how many uncessary spinal taps has she done. And did she fulfill her quota? So you can create a symptom that's not there to create a procedure that you didn't need? For a symptom that was created by partial care. Sounds crazy.but If .you do it enough times. It will make alot of money.

Honestly!! I'm not satisfied with this hospital services specially the ER services ! Thy mostly send the patients back home without being treated properly .The patient still suffers the same issue even after visiting the ER that means going to the ER was a useless effort which cudnt help the patient with his health issues.I will recommend to not go to this hospital ER.

The worst experience in an ER. Very lazy staffs and doctor, they live out there in space. I took my mother to the HOAG Urgent and from there they sent us here to the hospital. We suppose to meet nurse P... but no one paid attention to call her. They just do what ever they want. Even the ER nurse didn't help my mother to get in and out of the bed. After more than half an hour the doctor showed up and after few question he prescribed 2 shots and an allergy med. But took them more than 45 minutes to came back with shots. And told us we are finished and in few minutes we can go home. Meanwhile my mother tried to go to restroom and the floor was slippery and she slipped when step down the bed and from accounting were in our room and she was asking about her info, ran outside and called the doctor and the nurse, and they ran inside to see what was happened. They kept us there for more than one and half hours. I think this is their rules to keep everyone there not less than 3 hours!!! Or they were scared because they didn't pay attention to my mother and she slipped and they thought we might complain or sue them!!

Mr. Brian Evans, the director, thanks for having such devoted employees who do super job in their serving the helpless patients. They make the families of those people almost worship them. Your people heal so many wounds in their broken hearts, the services they provide, give lots of emotional and moral support to the patients and their families. Wow, bravo for your leadership and their devotion. We are so proud belonging to this society and benefiting all the assistance. Additional thanks to Dr. Morenz for his special care and treating my old father, Mr. Akbar, who went to emergency room on April 26, 18.

My husband has been hospitalised here at Hoag Irvine for about a week. Staff are really nice, doctors are very caring. So far our experience has been really good. Our ER experience was also not too bad( they were in the middle of extension so not the best setting; but attentive and nice). Last but not least very clean hospital.

The emergency is Very very bad and slow. My son had a really bad ear injury and we came here but the emergency was really poor. Never come to this hospital.

Cody Lindsay

It's probably a nice hospital with nice staff (like Newport Hoag has outstanding staff & facilities) but parking and public transit access is absolutely horrendous. They're doing construction and adding a traima center to the ER which will be nice but extremely difficult to navigate in the here and now. Go elsewhere like Mission, Newport Hoag, St. Joseph, UCI, Saddleback, or Orange Coast if it's a serious emergency, or better yet call an ambulance and you might have a better experience here. Most of the bad reviews I read is possibly bc some of the old Tenet Healthcare/Irvine Regional employees were retained from over 8 years ago (Tenet is a horrible money grubbing company) but my experience at Hoag Newport would definitely give this place a second chance

Ciera Vinson

I contacted HOAG hospital on 1/13/18 around 12:55pm and I dialed "zero" for the guest services operator. It sounded like an elderly woman with a raspy voice that answered the phone but she was incredibly rude to me for No reason. I asked if she knew the name of the imaging center because I had forgotten and I wanted to search their website. She instantly yells "MA'AM WHAT DO YOU WANT? THEY'RE CLOSED TODAY WHAT?!" I was shocked I expressed to her I only needed help finding the name and that she did not have to be so mean. She also stated "DON'T TELL ME TO CALM DOWN WHAT DO YOU WANT!" At this point I couldn't believe her actions and just decided to have her transfer me anywhere she wanted because I could not bear another second of that type of anger and attitude on such a lovely day.

Fantastic people - Doctors, Nurses, Admin, and more!!! Came in through ER, spent a total of 5 days in the hospital itself. Great folks all-around!!!

I love, love, love this Hospital. Doctor's wonderful, staff wonderful. They treated my family and I with so much kindness. Thank You!!!

This hospital charges super high facility fee. One Saturday, I went to hoag urgent care on Sand Canyon for a sore arm. I received an ultrasound to check my arm and turn out to be normal. The physician suggested me to visit my family doctor. I left the urgent care still with my sore armsand discomfort unsolved. Later Three bills generated. One bill is $166 for physician fee, one bill is $1000 for hospital fee , and third bill for the ultrasound service is on the way. This is an urgent care, not emergency room, they charge patient for about $1000 hospital fee. This is ridiculous, this is not even a service. And they didn't make these greedy charge transparent to public. I believe that I am not the only one to feel that health care providers today like hoag hospital has become far more greedy than being reasonable. I will switch provider definitely, cannot afford to it. Patients who go to these places please remember, the higher they charge your insurance company, the higher we will pay the insurance premium and all the medical expenses in average.

Great hospital. Dr. Cusick is fantatsic in the ER. He is the best doctor I ever had. He should be the Doctor of the year.

Sherryl Loupe

Terrible experience. They are so busy they are not very efficient. Was in the ER twice in less than 24 hours for extreme diarrhea. They IV you and then take a sample of your stool and the Dr. comes and tells you that you are great. And he releases you. I get a RX for the diarrhea and three days later it still is not working and afraid to go back to this horrible less than care hospital. Used to be a great hospital when it was Irvine center hospital but Hoag sure has failed us in the Irvine area. Still have terrible diarrhea and might end up in a hospital that knows how to treat people. The lady next to me was running a fever of 104 and they had released her the night before and she was back the next day..shows how well they know what they are doing..she was so sick when she came back she could hardly talk.

John Ritchey

We've only been to this hospital twice. We won't be there a third time. The first time they didn't take enough of a sample to determine the cause of the sickness. So we had to have the person treated three times since the illness was acute and life threatening and they wouldn't have time to take more samples. The second time we came to this hospital, they refused to operate to remove the gallbladder of a relative when they clearly had gallstones because it wasn't enough of an emergency. (They had been in severe pain for almost 24 hours.) We had our relative leave the ER and took them to another hospital. The second hospital operated immediately, found out that the area was infected, and removed the gallbladder. This place is a death trap. Don't take anyone you care about here.

Alex Fox

Had to take my parents there twice so far and always had a good experience for an ER visit. Great staff and very organized.

Kayla Nielsen

Amazing staff. Came in with an extremely high fever and found out the underlining issue quickly. Admitted immediately and taken care of around the clock. I can not thank this hospital enough. I honestly feel if I didn’t come in I wouldn’t be here. If I could give a ten star review I would. They are currently doing a little construction but it’s not a setback when they have patients with extreme medical emergencies. I hope to never have to come back but if I do, this will be the only hospital I’ll return to. Thank you Hoag & all your staff.

Adam Cooter

Doctor was super cool and respectful every single nurse but one was stuck up and arrogant. Insurance lady was nice too. I just don't understand why some people go into nursing without any knowledge or compassion? I imagine it's the overtime and social interaction...

On 10/15, Emergency Room doc was outstanding, and nurses were on top of medications. I had a spiral fracture in my ankle and I was in terrible pain. I have to deduct a point for the lack of availability of a mobility device to get me home. But, it's still my top choice for emergency help.

James W. Storey

Couldn’t help but be impressed with Hoag Irvine. The staff were incredible- all of them. The rooms are spacious - and most importantly the place is clean. All equipment is modern and well maintained. One of the better hospitals and The nurses aren’t spread so thin that you get ignored. Someone was in the room every 30 mins... the room we had here had its own shower :) checking and being very attentive. Thankful...

Honestly I am giving 2 stars just because I had a great nurse. However the hospital's ER department is very small and not well organized. They had patients on the walkways. I visit a lot of hospitals as I am a cancer patient and this one is not a good place to go.

This is the least thing that I can do for my dad who passed away in the hoag irvine hospital hopping it never happens to anyone else. I have all the respects for many great nurses and doctors there, however, this hospital also has a few careless staff whose malpractice and negligence contributed to my dad's death :(. My dad had to use folly catheter. When the hospital staff put it in for him, first, it was misplaced and they didn't realize it. after a day and half, my dad's body got swollen so badly and they diagnosed so many acute problems such as kidney and long malfunctions. My dad was so in pain and they never checked whether urine could come out or not. Any time that I think about it makes me mad. After a day and half, they realized that the folly catheter was misplaced :( His doctor told me that this incident was reported to the supervisor of the nurse but my question always was no doctor could check this crucial thing?! after that my dad got fever (most likely because of infection due to the spreading urine to his body) pretty much every day and after 8 days he passed away because of unknown infection. Any time that I think about how much pain my dad had to go because of their negligence it makes me cry. how much they can be ignorant about folly catheter, such an important and sensitive device:(

If you actually want some help, I reccomemd going elsewhere.. Half the nurses were rude and the doctor didn't do anything for me. Make sure to go in before you take any medication because of your not in 10/10 pain, you are not priority. 3 1/2 hours later and I feel worse than when I came in.

Emergency was excellent. Staff couldn’t have been nicer. Facilities clean, plenty of parking. Won’t go anywhere else for my family’s care.

I have a syndrome that forces me to go to the ER at least 3/4 times a year with uncontrollable vomiting and pain that feels worse than appendicitis. This was the first hospital I had been to in months that I literally walked in, sat down for no longer than 5-10 minutes and then had a bed to lay in. 20m later I was treated and on the path to recovery. In many hospitals, like St joesphs. I often sat in the waiting room for 6-7 hours (no exaggeration) without being seen. I had such a great recovery plan that I will now come here every time I need to. They even have an option to instantly pay your medical bill, already filled out by your insurance so will never see another bill in the mail again for what happened yesterday. Thank you to the wonderful staff there!!!!

Radiology department and Lab are what we have used and they were both very professional, caring and efficient.

This hospital is good, clean and comfortable to be at. The only thing I would ask about, is to hire more people, as they have not enough of staff to serve all the patients.

I cannot say enough about the fantastic care I received at Hoag Hospital Irvine. Starting with the emergency room Dr. Pham and Dr. Hong they explained to me that I needed a pacemaker and that my heart was not functioning properly. The Cardiologist Dr. Ehlrich also explained how dire my situation was. Not going into a lot of detail, I did flatline and was brought back by a fabulous code blue team. Every nurse, aide and doctors gave me such loving care. To all the nurses and aides that took care of me on the 5th floor, I owe you so much. Each and everyone of you are so kind and compassionate. Thank you all from the bottom of my heart Michele Foster

I arrived at the Hospital to visit a friend. No one was at the front desk and a note said to pick up the phone. The person who answered told me that the person I came to visit had been discharged. After I got home, I called another friend who said they had just visited the patient and she would be there several days. I called the Hospital and after playing phone tag and getting hung up on once, I was told the patient was indeed there. When I reported being told she was discharged, all I got was a laugh and a reply of "Oh really". This goes beyond poor customer service.

I was seen 1st time by a female Doctor who seemed to think I was there for fun. I think that if ER doctors don't think every patient that comes in with pain is thereto get some free pain meds that ER would be better place The Dr finally camelback to tell me oh its not so bad you have a double kidney infection no big deal . Gave me meds sent me home came back next day super sick another there Doctor this treats me as if I am making up the pain .Well the labs came back and they were so bad they had to admit me to the hospital where I stayed for 5 days The only wonderful experience I had was Dr Derrick Hong now that Doctor is a true Angel from heaven what super awesome, caring ,loving Doctor and ALL the nurses super sweet . A little advice to the ER doctors not all patients that come in with pain are looking for a fix to get high so STOP treating people who are really sick like sort of addict . Take direction from Dr Derrick Hong now that man Is what the meaning of caring Doctor means.

Fantastic Doctors and Nurses.

Horrible experience incurred by one of our family members a couple months ago. This has already been posted in review a few weeks ago. Hoag auto response was they take pride in their health services but call grievance line. I did that twice leaving my mobile number. ZERO response back from Hoag so this message was simply a PR response. Our family member who now is with real health professionals who know how to diagnose and treat someone in need. Our family member has been going through several MRIs and scans to access how to operate on him due the seriousness of the issue. Major surgery to occur 2nd week of Sept and NOT at Hoag Irvine. Had our family member believed what the attending inept ER Dr told him about his back was just a cyatic nerve problem, our family member could have died as a result of the Hoag ER Dr. Shame on this hospital and it's PR team as well as its ER staff.

Honestly, I've been to 3rd world hospitals that provided better service and had more competent doctors. The nurse I got had the personality of a rattlesnake, and the doctor was incompetent at best. If you are ill in need of medical attention I highly urge you to go elsewhere because you won't get it from their staff.

My mother has had three surgeries in this Hospital over many years, the surgeons are incredible and are very good at their job, but the nursing staff is vague and short with me & my mom everytime and everytime she gets transferred, to another hospital for physical therapy no one at the other hospitals knows what we are talking about & we get the brush off...not cool.

Just terrible service!! And so unorganized.. I went and visited the hospital once in December 2017, for more than an hour I was sitting in the reception then the doctor saw me and gave me a bill like and Advil Few weeks later I recieved a $7,000 bills They charged me the full bill instead of charging my insurance, then 3 month later I resolved the whole ordeal and paying a monthly chunk to pay off the rest of the bill With that said, they send my remaining balance that I’m paying through insurance to a debt collecting agency,,, while am paying it off... and now I have the hospital taking money from me each month and the debt collections agency chasing me to pay money again Just horrific and beyond annoying in so many ways
