From start to finish it is the best experience if you have to have surgery.Dr Mason and Nurse Brandy took very good care of me the entire time along with all the nurses that work at the surgery hospital.I would highly recommend The Arkansas surgery hospital for all the surgery that you need done...I Had a total knee replacement over 10 years ago done by Dr Scott Bowen it's been a total blessing

I had back surgery in September 2015 and was so pleased with the nurses in charge of my care. They had me laughing and kept me relaxed while waiting for my surgery to begin.

I am VERY DISPLEASED with Arkansas Surgical Hospitals billing department. After getting rear-ended by an uninsured motorist I had a MRI done there. Since they billed my health insurance company instead of my auto insurance there was a portion of the bill not covered. On four different occasion I asked them to supply my auto insurance company with a itemized bill with medical codes. Arkansas Surgical Hospital failed to submit the information to my auto insurance company with the medical codes and each line itemization as requested. I even went as far as going up there in person requesting the document my auto insurance company needs to pay the bill and they still failed to give me everything my auto insurance company needs to audit and pay them. Instead Arkansas Surgical Hospital wants to send me demand letters without itemized line items and harass me ar work over a bill that would of been paid weeks ago had they just supplied my auto insurance company with the requested documentation. All my other doctors and ER at the hospital I went to was able to provide my auto insurance company with the information needed to get paid without harassing me over their poor billing practices. I wouldn't recommend Arkansas Surgical Hospital to anyone because of this.

Had shoulder arthroscopic surgery and I must say the staff was very courteous and informative. When I awoke from surgery I had a nurse standing right by me with a cup of ice and a spoon ,ready to feed me, knowing my throat would be dry. Ive had surgeries at other hospitals and They were good, but this hospital was the BEST EXPERIENCE I've ever had. God Bless all the Staff there!

I travel past at least 5 other hospitals that could have done the surgery because A.S.H. is the best. I only stayed two nights, but I also remember delicious food! I felt safe and knew I was well on the road to recovery!

Well, I have only been to Arkansas Surgical Hospital for a pre-op appointment. The nurse that did all my testing was super sweet and made sure to answer any questions I had for her. The doctor that I spoke to however, had the wrong surgery down, which freaked me out a little. He also told me I had a heart murmur (I am 36 and have never been told that). My surgery got cancelled the day before it was supposed to take place. I now have it rescheduled for January, and have to drive 6 hrs round trip for another pre-op appointment. Hoping for the best!

I had minimal invasive spinal lumbar surgery on 8 August, 2016. I received excellent professionalism, efficiency and care from all personnel in check-in, pre-op, post-op and recovery departments. Nurses showed concern for my comfort both before and after the operation, while quickly doing different tasks and keeping any discomfort to a minimum. Only problem was an unplanned and unknown reaction to sleep medication for my overnight stay. Had hallucinations instead of sleep overnight and through the next day after my release. Just fine after that. Nurses made sure all my vitals were good and was mentally and physically okay before my release. An excellent experience.

Due to high number of surgeries I had to share a room with someone else, wasn't bad though, a lot of sleeping that night so a roomate wasn't an issue. Got to go home the next morning. Dr. Calhoun and all the staff were excellent.

Knee replacement surgery on Jan. 27 at Arkansas Surgical Hospital was made so much easier because of the people who took such good care of me. This was my first personal hospital experience since 1985, and both my husband and myself were so impressed with how the staff was so attentive, caring, professional and efficient. This is the only place I would even consider having more surgery.

I've had 2 procedures here , I had a back fusion laminectomy first then 8 months later after no good results from that I had a nerve root block killing the nerves causing the pain going down my buttocks and leg , and now 6 months later I'm no better off than before having the procedures. Although these failed I received the best hospital treatment you could ask for here , the people are professional and kind here. Thanks

Did not listen fully to my concerns and pain. Went 3-4 months in pain before I insisted on having surgery on shoulder to find that I did in fact have a major rotator cuff tear. The male nurse practioner was condescending on every visit and basically implied I was lying about my pain. I finally requested not to see him anymore. Then billing afterward was ridiculous, and was not billed monthly...very confusing. It ended up being sent to collection because they assume that everyone can pay a $2000 Bill in one payment. Not satisfied at all...and still in pain.

I have had surgery at ASH 5 times plus an additional stay and there is no other place I'd rather be for my procedures. The rooms are fantastic and so is the staff. My last visit was with a hip dislocation (after revision surgery) and not only did they meet me at my car with a wheelchair, they took me straight into a room and even brought the x-ray machine to me to keep me as comfortable as possible. I have had several ER visits over the years and they always start out with a long wait and paperwork but not here. Couldn't ask for more!

My stay at Arkansas Surgical Hospital was something like 3 nights at a 4-Star Hotel. The nursing staff was so attentive. Never had to wait more than a few minutes when I pushed the call button. Your HR Department should be praised for their hiring ability. Only kind faces starting with check-in. This was my second stay in 3 months (2nd knee replacement since February). I had no fear or dread about the second surgery after such a positive with the first.

The entire process was smooth. The lady that checked us in was extremely cheerful for so early in the morning. Dr. Mason was through and provided a great bedside manner. He even noticed I had straightened my hair to make that process easier during my recovery. The nursing staff was friendly and kept a constant check on me. My husband's stay with me was comfortable as well. He had his own space to sleep that wasn't an arm chair next to my bedside. I will definitely be singing your praises. Thanks so much to ASH for such a positive experience. I just had a total knee replacement Jan. 2016 which included a 2 night stay at ASH. The staff was professional, communicative and responsive. The rooms were spacious with a separate area for my husband to stay with me overnight. I was so impressed even before the surgery. They were in touch with me ahead of my stay going over my schedule, everything that I might need during my stay and after I was released and at home. Thank you for such great care!

He takes the time to listen to you about the problem that your're dealing with and then explains to you what's going on with you and precisely what he's going to do the fix it. I was appalled by my second visit at this hospital. Not only am I 34 and still recovering from my hip being replaced after over a year of recovery time, but these people were awful. The rushed me out of my room after 3 days and charged me for 4. The nurse just about dislocated my hip when putting me in the wheelchair. They had nasty mouths and attitudes when I yelped (due to the pain) and requested an extra day to recover. If you have the opportunity to go here I would think twice. You'd have yo take your chances. Out of my two visits 1 was great and the other outrageously awful..

Had a pre-op visit to Arkansas Surgical. Everyone was helpful and efficient. Got in right away, did my insurance thing, sent to have my blood drawn, saw the doctor and was on my way within about an hour or so having been told to expect about two hours. Happy camper.

From day one pre opt to end of stay in hospital for my complete knee replacement it was much better than I thought made me feel at ease and relaxed Dr Martin OMG is awesome I would highly recommend him bedside manners you can't beat it prayed with me and my family before surgery and it wasn't a short one. I can't say enough good things about this place, other than one minor thing the food could be better.

I am shocked by all the positive reviews. Our experience began when everyone was told to arrive at 6:30am, everyone. And then everyone sits all day. Next, I was told my husband was in recovery, 2 hours later I discover they are still closing. No one informed me, I had to chase down a nurse to find my husband. Now laying in his bed, we were told by the only RN on duty on our area, that his compression machine was never applied. All the docs are gone by 1pm, leaving substandard staff to care for the post op. It appears they prey on the rural elderly who are usually uninformed of common care practice and are impressed by the hotel like atmosphere Reconsider your decision. Just say no.

I don't think you can ever say you enjoyed being in the hospital but my stay was a pleasant experience. The staff is friendly and professional, the food is good, and the patients are everyone's priority. Each procedure was explained completely I always felt very informed! I would recommend Arkansas Surgical Hospital very highly!

On Monday July 15th, 2019, I was admitted to The Arkansas Surgical Hospital for a scheduled Total Knee Replacement (TKR). Upon arrival, I was very impressed with their reception, I recently located here from Los Angeles. I have not had a chance to know any contacts and it was by chance that Dr. Joel N. Smith, MD's name came across my table. Then another recommendation, and other! All for the same Doctor. (By the way, I was recommended by the Little Rock Air Force Base medical personnel.) I am glad that I made this decision. I started seeing Dr Smith in his officer and had great encounters with his entire staff. They made me feel right at home in a strange state. No that Arkansas is a strange state, its different than what I have been accosting to, the last 28 years if my life in Los Angeles. Dr Smith saw me and actually spent time with me. Those L.A. Doctors spend literally 2 minutes at the most with you and they move on to the next patient. Dr. Smith literally gave me all my time that I needed. Off to my BIG appointment at ASH! I arrived before my time and was greeted by the inchecker, receptionist, greeter and probably 7 other titles. She was pleasant, professional, thorough and fast! She rested my mind which was running 100 MPH! I mean I was getting ready to have my old knee ripped out and a new one placed back in there! I was quickly ushered off behind the scenes where all the magic begins. I was brought into a very clean and spacious private room (with curtain). I changed into my medical garb and waited for each medical professional to show up. One, after another like it was orchestrated. Finally itv was "time". I had been prepped, briefed, and injected with a light dose of Mellow yellow! (Not literally). Before you know it, I was rolled in, and within 5 minutes (seemingly), I was out of surgery and in my room! This is where the fun began. Yes, I said FUN! I had the great pleasure of some serious Southern Hospitality! I was taken care of like royalty by Kristina (RN), Monica (RN), Yolanda (PCT), and Trevor. Sort Trevor, I didn't get your position but you sent me out the door! There was also a young lady with long b town hair. She prepped by stuff for departure! During all this process, I got to meet these fine people and be taken care of by them as well! Everyone at this place bounced off each other and the patients perfectly. What a perfect combination of professional care, happy mode, and the best atmosphere I have ever experienced! Now, Im trying t find a way to get these exact people on my next TKR! Thank you Dr. Joel Smith, his staff at his office and the entire crew over at Arkansas Surgical Hospital! P.S. When I should be in my bed, mending..... Im here eagerly writing this review!

This is my second surgery at this hospital. Everything was different from the beginning. I felt rushed and the nurses seemed to be very frustrated. They stuck me four times before they got my IV in. I have lg veins and never had trouble before. The insertion of the epidural was very painful unlike the first visit. I asked to see my husband before I went to the OR and they said there was not enough time for him to come back. I have highly recommended this hospital many times I guess you just cannot predict your care. I would like to give honor to two nurses that were very good to me when I was in my room. Pam Gooden and Daniel Bottoms. Overall a great hospital. I still will recommend it.

My experience was beyond measure!!!!! I think they need to create a special new word to describe AR. Surgical Hospital!!! I had my left knee replaced March 17,2016 and I was so amazed with the entire experience that I am having my right knee replaced Dec.19th 2016. I cannot say enough good things about Dr. Ken Martin cause if I did you would have to take a weeks vacation just to read all the positive things I said about him!!!!! There were so many amazing experiences however the one experience that was the coolest was when Dr. Martin PRAYED with me and my hubby right before going into surgery , and it WAS NOT a short and sweet prayer that he used every day......And I have to brag on the entire staff......the people I encountered from my pre-opt appointments until the date I checked in and my entire time I stayed in the hospital everyone was so incredible helpful,pleasant, accommodating and performed as if they loved their job. If you are reading this it almost sounds like a fairy tale and too good to be true!!!!! Well its NOT It is this and a whole lot more!!!!!I highly recommend AR. Surgical Hospital for any surgical procedure!!!!

I had a complete shoulder joint replacement Feb. 10. I could not have found a nicer group of people to care for me, from the front desk to being discharged. Everyone was wonderful and on top of everything. My doctor, Clayton Riley was the best. The rooms are really nice for your family to stay with you. I will have my other shoulder done in the future and I won't even think of looking elsewhere. I had heard so many good reports on ASH. If you have to be in the hospital, this is the place to be.

This is one of the most wonderful hospitals ever. From the enterance to the exit. Great staff. Alex was wonderful the whole night I was there. She took really good care of me post surgery. My mom had a cervical fusion by Dr. Brad Thomas on the 17th and stayed overnight there. From the time that we arrived, we received the most amazing care!! From the beautiful prayer that Dr. Thomas said with us before moms surgery, all the way thru to her discharge the next day!! I can not say enough amazing things about this hospital and its staff!!! A special thank you to nurse Brandy, Destiny, techs Nick and Jazmyn, can't remember her techs name from the first day, but she was great also. I know there are others like the hospitalist and the ones who made sure we understood discharge teaching and lady who was from HR that asked about our stay and if there were any suggestions we had to help them better serve us. Our answer of course was NO...because it's hard to improve on near perfection!! Thank you again from the bottom of our hearts!!! The pride you and your employees take in patient care and your hospital is top notch!!! This coming from her daughter who works in the medical field also!

Comment is about waiting for labs. Been here for over an hour and still haven’t been called back. I’m only here to get an EKG and labs drawn and know this takes no longer than 15-20 minutes. “Time is money,” goes both ways. Also, when a test result that requires fasting needs to be done, you should schedule your patients early so they do not have to wait until after the midday lab appt which is already an hour overdue.

My grandmas surgery was scheduled for 6:30am we got here right on time, it is now 11:30 am and and they are just now getting her back for her surgery!! Service was good and the employees were nice but the scheduling of appointments definitely needs to be worked on. What was supposed to be an easy 30 minute procedure has turned into a 5 hour and 10 minute process.

The stay at ASH was very good, except the food. It was a beautiful hospital, and I was taken care of very well. They have a nice sleeping quarter for whoever stays with you as well. But, the food was inedible, for the most part.

I was pleasantly surprised at the surgical experience at Arkansas Surgical Hospital. Everything went according to the preoperative instructions from the initial check-in to the recovery room. Having surgery is not something I would ever choose to do but should the need arise in the future, I will definitely request it to be done at your facility due to the professional and compassionate manner in which the physicians, nurses, anesthesiologist/anesthetists, and other support personnel conducted themselves. The surroundings are very pleasant in a relaxed setting for both the patient and family members. Thank you for the superb customer service.

A brief one hour outpatient procedure cost $7120.20! This includes zero followup care, nothing. we were required to show up at 5:30 but wasn't even called back until almost 8:00. Were were gone before 12:00 am. I will NEVER recommend this place. It is a ripoff.

UPDATE: Unfortunately, my back surgery did NOT fix my lower back pain and problems. They have continued to get much worse. Think really long and hard before you have your back operated on. My back surgery went great. The doctors and everyone else made this an exceptionally great experience. Thank you so much for everyone's tender great care.

I am always treated kindly from check in to check out. The nurses are are so caring, explain every thing as they go. In the procedure room they make make you feel so relaxed until you go to sleep. Recovery nurses great too. Really like the cookies they give you. So I give the hospital a++ all around.

I have been telling everyone about Arkansas Surgical Hospital! first of all I'd like to say thank you to the doctors and nurses ! I've had a lot of surgeries and this was the most Fearless One. I had arthroscopic surgery on my knee. I was in a comfortable bed in a very nice hospital gown getting the pre-op done. They even numb the place they're going to give you IV! The nurse said to me I'm going to give you something to calm you down a little bit. Tell her put something in the IV and..... The next thing I knew I was raising up out of my same bed , and the nurse said your surgery is done! This place was so unbelievable!!! I never even knew I left the room! I had no pain whatsoever and no fear whatsoever. They make sure of that! I really wanted to shout it from the rooftops about this Hospital! And here is my chance! I enjoyed having my surgery if that could be possible!! It's been 2 weeks and I can walk perfectly. Thank you for this opportunity to tell the world! I just pray I get to use this Hospital again for my future surgeries! If I had my choice I would never go anyplace else!

Recently Dr. Clay Riley repaired multiple problems on my right shoulder. I was in patient over night in a wonderful room that could be compared to a hotel suite. Although I don't recall most of the night, my Mom stayed in the room with me. She couldn't believe the attention provided by the nurses and staff. Not only were they catering to me, they made sure she had everything needed to make her night pleasant. I would like to commend all that participated, especially Dr. Riley, his team, post op, recovery, the precious gentleman that kept me pain free for about 30 hours and John Holland for his work in the OR and for keeping my family informed. It is a tough surgery, but therapy, a must almost has me back to perfect. I wouldn't consider any other hospital.

My mother is here and when I was in the waiting area someone pissed in their nice chairs and of course at of all the chairs to set it I set in that one piss soaked chair. The staff without me asking offered me a room to take a shower and even give me some scrubs for the remainder of the day. They have treated my family as if we were some long lost kinfolks. Caring staff, clean hospital. If I ever need one of the surgeries they offer. I will be coming here. I would give it 100 stars if they would let me.

Not very good. The two female nurses on the 7 to 7 shift were compassionate and professional. The male nude for 7 to 7 then then one for 7am till I left were not good, impatient, in a hurry and almost rude. Almost all my care there from every department was rushed. I was not impressed. I am a nurse and know what good care is, mine was adequate.

I broke my hand and went into their ER. It's not just a fracture, one of the bones snapped. I saw a nurse practitioner that had no beside manner. He was really rough putting on the cast then wouldn't give anything for pain. He told me to just take Tylenol. My hand is huge and black and blue and he got irritated when he would move it while doing the cast and I would jerk because it hurt so bad. He kept telling me to be still like I'm a child. So not only was he a jerk but sending me home with nothing for pain is just very uncaring. I will never recommend this place to anyone.

The staff was very professional the day I arrived. I waited a short time from check in and was called back to prep for surgery. The nurse doing my prep was very friendly and courteous. After prep, surgery time was a little over an hour wait. My carpal tunnel and cubital tunnel surgery went well. It did take me a little longer to wake up from the anesthesia than what it should have and it made me nauseated. My surgeon, Dr. Rhodes was very professional and even called to check on me the next day. I plan on having the same surgery on my other arm this summer.

The hospital stay was wonderful. The rooms for the patient are beyond a high 5 point star hotel but mostly it is exceptionally comfortable for the family of the patient. I cant imagine going anywhere else for surgeries as I am now spoiled by the medical staff and hospital.

I am personally TERRIFIED of surgeons, surgery and doctors in general. I went to an appointment (my first) with Dr. Mason a week ago today... to say I was nervous is an understatement. We talked, he did some routine checks... and he decided I needed to have surgery on my lower spine. The next day to be exact. That sent me into panic mode. But its ok. Let me start with: my insurance is very difficult to work with. He made a decision to do my operation PRIOR to receiving authorization from my insurance company, and his nurse and assistant are pushing it thru the insurance. His compassion is amazing, his staff are amazing. I dont remember ALL of the names, but I want to give special thanks to Dr. Mason, i believe Brandy was his assistant in the office, and his office nurse. You guys are awesome. To the beautiful red head at the front desk, thank you much for having a bright and beautiful personality to match your physical features. To the lady running the cafeteria, you are a hoot and make sur everyone that walks thru the doors is taken care of. Keep on rockin it girl! To the wonderful RN I had right out of surgery... I have tried so hard to remember your name, and I'm almost positive it was Sara, girl you are sweeter than pie. Down to earth. Make sure everyone is comfortable. And your comments of coffee and gossiping are well remembered ♡ thank you. Now, I had some amazing CNAS too, but Laronda is the one I remember most. We chatted about our families and various little things while you worked. You were compassionate towards my husband too! I appreciate all of this. THERE IS NO BETTER PLACE in my mind or eyes to go if you need surgery. The LEVEL of care and compassion you receive is amazing. For once I felt completely confident in my Doctor and the others that work there. You can tell that the doctors do their best to make their nurses and staff feel appreciated, and in return they all make the patients and family feel comfortable and appreciated. Dr. Mason, even with your own health concerns pressing in on you... you were thoughtful of me as an individual. You may do this everyday of your life, but you are truly an angel on this earth! My experience at ASH was absolutely the best care I have ever received! I didn't wait any longer than 2-3 minutes when pushing the nurse button on my bed before they arrived with a smile on their face waiting to assist me in any way necessary. The food was actually great and I never waited on that either. Very clean and spacious. My mom really enjoyed the "suite" in the room with me but somewhat separate from mine so she could get sleep but still check in on me as well. i was very pleased with the way they handled everything medically. I had carpel tunnel surgery done. Outpatient surgery total time at the hospital about 3 hours including check in. My bill was $4643.40 before my insurance adjusted it. The base bill from the hospital was $2500. This seems very excessive. After my insurance, which is a high deductible, adjusted the account i still owe $1117.00. I pay my bills, but i was not informed that it was going to be this much. Between the doctor and a hospital visit my total was over $2000. I was there 3 hours or less. I contacted the billing department about the price and was told it is what it is. If you can't afford to pay it we can put you in touch with a bank that will give us our money now and you can make payments to them. I will never use them again and I recommend that everyone get an estimated bill before going here yourselves.

From the ladies that welcome you at the front desk with there warm and friendly smiles, the nurse that took my blood was a dream, poked me once and didn't feel a thing!! The anesthesiologist was over the top she was very thorough and asked all kinds of questions and took care of all my needs!! I usually wake up with extreme headaches after surgery and she took care of that and prevented any nausea!! Of course the doctor did his job and that went without a hitch! When I woke up the nurse to excellent care of my needs until my pain was under control! This is my fourth surgery here at Arkansas Surgical and they don't miss a beat! My husband has had two, and my mother has had one!! We wouldn't pick any other hospital!

I had back surgery at Arkansas Surgical Hospital in January 2014. This was approx. my 5th surgery affecting my back and the BEST of ALL of my hospital experiences. The doctors, nurses, staff, assistants, etc. was exceptional! EVERYONE there (though I was recuperating from surgery and in some pain) did everything possible to make my stay as comfortable and healing as possible. Three months later, my mother underwent knee replacement surgery at Arkansas Surgical Hospital and was privileged to be on the other side, no longer the patient but part of the family looking in. My mother was treated exceptionally as was I, her guest spending the night with her. This time I got to meet the Physical Therapy staff and they were amazing. Working with her gently but firmly in getting her up to moving and walking with her new knee. Again, I cannot sing the praises of Arkansas Surgical Hospital staff enough. Thank you so VERY much for the care I received. If I at all possible, I will make Arkansas Surgical my Hospital of choice!

Everything went well until my tray arrived following surgery. I had to be incubated, so my throat was still raw and I was given a turkey sandwich on Toasted Texas bread with lettuce. The last day of my service somebody was ask to come and talk to us. He could not understand how I could be unhappy about my personally paired sandwich, So the next morning the bacon was tough and the eggs were dry. I would like to thank all the nurses and doctors for the care I was given, Overall I would say it was a good stay. 3 other operations and stays well great. Sincerely Toy Goodwin.

Everyone was very nice and helpful. The check in service was quick and efficient and the pre-op personnel was good. However, my post-op nurse sent me home with the IV connector still in my arm after repeated requests by my daughter to get it taken out and my daughter had to get me dressed.

Overall I received great care. I was scheduled to arrive at 9:00am and surgery would be btw 11:30&12:30. We received a call before we arrived that they had a cancellation and could we get there earlier. So we arrived around 8:30, checked in and I was taken back within 10 minutes. The next hours of waiting were a little upsetting because I was not taken back until 1:30pm, when we ask what was taking so long, the nurse stated " well your surgery is scheduled for 1:30pm." Not sure how the schedule was changed and I kept in mine of sometimes a case may take longer. We were put in a nice room and the nurses were great at trying to keep me comfortable. Hopefully I will not have to have another surgery, but would definitely use this hospital again.
