REVIEWS OF St. Luke's Medical Center IN Arizona

My wife had an outpatient surgery here. The staff were all very professional and friendly. Things were efficient and we did not wait long before or after the surgery. The cafeteria had good food while I waited. This was our first experience with St. Luke's but either of us would have a procedure here again.

Great staff Great hospital All around a great experience

Lori Owens

I had the most awesome experience. The doctors and nurses were amazing!! I loved Dr. H and most importantly Dr. Valdes!! XOXOXOXO. They took such great care of me and made great accommodations for my mother! Would recommend this hospital to anyone who's going to undergo surgery. Five stars Dr. Valdes, five stars for Dr. "H." and another five stars for the staff!!! XOXOXOXO

I went there today with my severely autistic son—It was a horrible experience and they treated me like I didn’t exist especially when they wanted to restrain my son which I didn’t let them do. The doctor was arrogant and didn’t come to speak to me. The only nurse named Elizabeth did not want to restrain my son. she said my son didn’t need restraints which I agreed with and that my son should be chemically restrained with another shot first and I agreed with that. Restraining a special needs kid can be dangerous and I asked if he could have another shot instead but no my opinion didn’t matter and I left for the safety of my child . The last three days we had spent at Abrazo West Hospital which was a really good Experience under the circumstances. I really It was a heartless experience and a place with no hope. This is the first time I have ever complained about an ER. Security also was very aloof and cold except for the two security guards that walked me and my son out.

I had a complete knee replacement, Kimber in +preoperative was great but post operative was the worst experience I've ever had in a hospital My nurse Ann B. was rude and unprofessional in every way, they also left my husband in the waiting room for 2 hours while I am already in my room waiting for him. So I am on the 8th floor and it was great the first day with Michelle n Patrick both was awesome but the 2nd day was a joke my nuse was lazy n rude, thank God i didn't have to stick around for a third. They asked me 4 different times what pharmacy I use and told me they called in my prescriptions, nope they screwed up again. So now I have to make a second trip to frys. Way to go!

Deseree Haywood

I love the physician I saw. He was right on point and he didn't have me waiting for a long time. From check-in to check out 30 minutes.

Is this a hospital or a dungeon? One things for sure, this place is hell! 2 years ago My wife and I were unfortunate enough to end up at this place because my wife had a seizure on a virgin airlines flight from San Diego to Dallas/ Ft worth. They had to make an emergency stop in Phoenix to let us off. The ER staff were very hostile, mean, angry, and just nasty people. Someone said they were racist as well but I’m not sure about that one. Anyway, they put my wife in a ER room after having a severe seizure and never came by to check on us. A couple of time I would peak out the curtain to see if I could see any nurses and I was rudely scolded and told to keep the curtain closed and take a seat. I could hear another woman begging and pleading down the hall for help and one nurse told her if she didn’t shut her mouth they were gonna call security. They later did when she attempted to come out of her room trying to find her doctor. After at least 2 hours of waiting with my wife suffering from a severe headache, a doctor came in and we told him about how long we have been waiting and he told us if we wanted to we could just leave. So we did. She never got treated and they sent us a huge bill anyway! This place is a scam and a complete joke for a hospital!

mike davis

Staff and nurses are amazing. Mr Muskgrave in particular. Thank you!

Daniela Ramirez

THEY DONT UNDERSTAND ANYTHING ! DONT DO MUCH ! DONT MAKE ANYTHING BETTER !! PLUS OUT OF EVERYTHING THEY TAKE FOREVER! WENT IN AT 2 AM Y GOT OUT AT 10AM, ALL NIGHT !! AND DIDNT EVEN TELL ME ANYTHING !

Margarita Sadova

Great Staff!I am impressed everyone went above and beyond to help me even when they didn't have to! Very nice people so I hope that lives on :)

This is a good hospital for Bariatric Surgery, but I won't say it's good for anything else, About 2yrs ago my mom was in this hospital and she had a heart condition, they didn't have a doctor their that could treat her, so they set it up for her to leave St Luke's and a week later to check into Good Samaritan hospital, well she did, at Good Sam, my mom had a pigs Vale put in her heart, and a pace maker, a few days later she went home, about a week later she wasn't feeling well and short of breathe , an ambulance was called and they took her to St Luke's, by all means they should have immediately transferred her to Good Sam, because Good Samaritan did her heart surgery, but they kept her their, after 3 days they called us all in, myself my siblings and other family members to say my mom needed to go on comfort care, my mom wanted to go home, but they convinced my sister, that my mom wouldn't survive the ambulance ride home and that they could do the comfort care, Mind you my mom was talking and hugging her kids and wanted to go home, I asked the nnurses would they give my mom water or offer her food and they said yes, but the truth is they didn't do any of that, all they did was doped her up with medication until, she went to sleep and didn't wake up, and it only took them 2days, another close family friend, with her mom went through a similar situation with her mom at this same hospital, I don't even understand what made them decide my mom needed to be on comfort care since they couldn't even do her heart surgery. If you need weight loss surgery St. Luke's is the place, see Dr. Fang, other than that RUN to the next hospital St. Joseph is the hospital I would recommend

I went for my horrible migraine pains and diabetes nerve pains at St. Lukes Tempe and St. Lukes Phoenix they treated me very well since I moved to Arizona in 2016. They even gave my Dr reports after my ER visits

Deborah Bachman

The staff and physicians at St. Luke's are stellar. I cannot praise and thank these individuals enough. Their care was amazing and the attitude off all was totally focused on the patient and their family. Thank you so very much for the wonderful care you gave my husband. As a family member of a patient I have never had such a positive experience in a hospital setting.

Olivia Scull

I just had surgery done on the 31st of May and was a little worried based on the reviews I have read but I was pleasantly surprised, everyone was very professional and friendly and my nurse Guadalupe on the 8th floor was wonderful. It was my first surgery ever and am very happy with everyone from admitting to nursing. Dr Schuster my surgeon was the best.

KareMel SWIRL

This hospital is horrible.. I had surgery the nurses were not helpful, one forgot my meds for an hr I was in extreme pain, and they still wanted to discharge me. If my dr was not affiliated with that hospital I would never willingly go there!

O Villalon

My mother was admitted for kidney stones but they couldnt do the procedure there they wanted to transfer to another facility which is bullshit she was in the 8th floor which was the only good thing good about it the staff in 8th was so professional but has soon as she was transfer to 7th floor everything went to hell the staff sucks there my mom needed help just to go to bathroom they took 20 min they also had additude problems and would not help when needed help. Just becareful what hospital you pick. I would suggest banner if possible

September of 2013 I was admitted to the detox unit of St. Luke's and was sexually assaulted by one of of the male behavioral health technicians (BHT's) while alone in my room in the middle of the night. :'(

Kallea Echeverria

Worst hospital ever. Wait times are horrifically long.

Amy Temes

My dad had hip replacement here three years ago. Great service, great staff, awesome. This time, bad service, trouble with the anesthetic team for surgery and no internal nursing/staff communication. So frustrating. I'm glad he doesn't have another hip because we are not going to this facility again.

Crystal Chipman

My aunt just had surgery there. Everyone was wonderful and efficient. Very nice and Brandy (I) from Bariatric surgery was exceptional. She went beyond expectations. 5 stars for her!!! This place may not be up to date in style but its a great place to be cut up at.

josh tuzzolo

Absolutly horrible tell the er you want to go to another hospital before you deal with them! They dont treat there patiens with respect in my opinion in recommend another hospital besides them after all what can get any worse

Emily Dean

I experienced amazing bedside manners from all staff in both pre and post op, the nurses took great care of me and were on top of their pain management game. For those complaining that the hospital is cold, they're supposed to be to help maintain a sterile environment. It's not a hotel and medical staff isn't room service. Also the wait wasn't long for me, I would recommend St. Luke's over PV Abrazo anyday.

Jiahua Liu

Definitely worst service, they forget to call us. Everyone come later than us got called The lead nurse is very bad attitude and bad skill, three pokes but no successful one

BRENDA MCCOY

Horrible place, would not recommend this hospital even for someone i hated. My husband was put in a room for 2 hours and no one even came to check on him. He was transfered from Tempe st lukes. It was 2 days before they changed his hospital id band. They gave him pain meds with out scaning his band. His IV in his arm looks horrible after 3 days no one seems to give a $@#!. Should be flushed out every day if not hooked up to fluids. Pure neglect in my eyes. Horrible place.

Emilio Espinoza

My father had a recent surgery at this hospital. The surgeon was awesome but the staff is horrible. It was like pulling teeth just to get information on progress and when we did get an answer it was like they were bothered i asked. The staff that would come in didn't even bother to introduce themselves or give any updates. I will never allow another of my family members or myself to come here again!

Dani Garner

Doctor didn't take me seriously. Made it very clear to him I've had these symptoms for a month and he basically told "Oh it might be the stomch flu, but I'm not sure. Then he reffered me to a doctor who only takes insurance, EVEN THOUGH I MADE IT CLEAR I DONT HAVE ANY. He treated me like an inconvienence. It's not like I wanted to miss work and go to the dr so to be treated like that really sucked. Now I have to take more time off to be treated somewhere else when I AM CERTAIN something is wrong with me. I felt like he wasn't listening to me or my fiancè and he seemed to know nothing about stomach issues. Wouldn't reccomend.

Dale Buchert

The hospital was always clean, a little outdated but always clean. The nurse I had in the ER was rude her name was Leigh, then they did shift change and I hot a wonderful nurse her name was Francesca she was so nice and took the time to take care if anything I needed. The doctor I had on the other hand was a mean mean person. Her name was doctor Farrell. She didn't take the time to listen to what I had to say about my condition and treated me like I was a drug addict searching for pain medicine. I was in horrible pain and they didn't even treat it. I was admitted to the hospital and got to meet my hospitalist Dr her name was Dr Ponduchi. She was so nice and understanding and took the time to listen to my needs. She treated my pain once I got upstairs, which took almost ten hours to get admitted to the 6th floor. Once up there I got my pain medicine right away and started to get some relief. I had an egd done because I was vomiting blood and the gastroenterologist that did the procedure was absolutely the best. I can't remember his name but he was amazing! I recommend the hospital and some of the people, but watch out for the mean Dr. Farrell she is the worst!!!

Heather Landers

I love the staff in the ER the nurses are so nice, the Dr.'s and PA's really take their time with you!! Great place to go!

Danny Lopez

Very bad nursing I don't recommend . Lazy staff told me to fix him myself, dont reply to buzzard .

Roberta Torres

I went in for a colonoscopy and came out with my finger messed up.this happen about two weeks and still in pain.they need to be more careful moving paients

Tom Harper

It was the worst ER I have ever been to or have seen. I was brought to a room with only a sheet on the bed, no pillow, no blanket and I was freezing. With the exception of one nurse, everyone was rude, mean and treated you like you were trash. One staff member came in, sat down on a chair and threw her feet on the bed. The doctor (P.A.) was in the room for less then 1 minute and acted like I was problem! This is treatment no one deserves.

Meiyumi Suzuki

Went there for suicide prevention and the treated me like an animal. A few people were kind, but the rest OBVIOUSLY had a problem with me.

Aaron Gingerich

They charged me $3000.00 for a cut on my finger, it needed stitches. $3000.00... It would have been cheaper for funeral expenses. Cut. Finger. The staff was friendly, but holy balls... I waited 3.5hrs for a few stitches, and a shot. Then get the bill... I will never go to the ER here for any reason again.

Esoteric Quality

For a medical center, the staff are very unaccommodating and incompetent in dealing with patients with disabilities and violate the ADA. I have had staff ask me to fill out paperwork despite being blind and having a cane and wearing dark sunglasses. They are resistant or don't know how to get paperwork into an accessible form for the patient. While my eye doctor's office has been great, the receptionists have been lazy and incompetent.

Collette Magurno

Worst hospital ever, will charge 100.00 a hour and not disclose what the emergency room visit will cost in advance. Also, I was in the hospital emergency room for 5 hours for a brusied rib cartlidge and all they gave me was ibuprophen, I hate this place. And their collection agency are crimminal as well

Sandra Dinwiddie

Nurses and other ancillary staff are great, but had a PA Fay was challenged and I would not have my worst enemy see. She did not collect any health history, past medical or surgical history and I do not think she fully grasped the importance of my issue. I was in because I could not keep liquid or food down. I felt I should be admitted, but the inept PA thought I should be seen outpatient for my problem. I did everything possible to communicate the issue, but she did not hear me regardless of the nurse agreeing with me that I should be admitted to avoid a delay in care. I would avoid this place if there are other options or at least see ahhh NP or MD.

David Hutchinson

I have had difficulty with my medical treatments but we are making progress

Jay Burwell

The time I spent in the waiting room prior to surgery was excessive. The surgical prep area was noisy, lacked privacy and the Anesthesiologist was a scary individual who inspired no confidence at all. I almost walked out at that point. I was an inpatient on the 6th floor post surgery. The hospital night shift was good, however the day shift was sorely understaffed and medication was untimely administered, there were not enough certified nursing assistants to help with the surgeon's post op protocol and one of them had a terrible attitude refusing to help at all except to take blood pressure. After complaints, the hospital brought in another nursing assistant, however I would not recommend this hospital to anyone.

Marci Hendrickson

Dr. Johnson is an incredible physician. I am very impressed with his office and attention to detail.

Lana Millett

This hospital was clearly old and in poor repair. However, the most aggregious problem is their blatant billing practices. They intentionally contract out providers, who do not accept insurance, and so patients are balance-billed for ridiculous amounts by their greedy doctors. The hospital billing office (don't trust their paperwork for their correct hours) will tell you that you should have expected that providers don't take insurance and that you will have hundreds of dollars in bills. The forms they make you sign upon admission say you agree to pay all charges, be harassed by phone to collect your debt, and that if your bill goes to collections it will accrue 50% interest. I will NEVER seek care there ever again.

Dianne Budzinski

The night staff in the Er are great. The day shift well that is another story. Dr. Valasco, Ms. Paula, Kelly, Faye and all the others never make you feel like your illness isn't valid. Don't let Ryan on day shift deter you from getting the care you need.

St Luke's is by far the rudest, uncaring, worst hospital I've ever experienced... FROM the front desk clerk to the doctor, the nurses and even the security guards.....They were ALL so unprofessional & simply the rudest people ever! I promise you, DON'T GO HERE, DON'T TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!! I YOU'LL REGRET IT.. THERE'S MUCH BETTER HOSPITALS LIKE ABREZO ON THOMAS... NOW THAT'S A REAL HOSPITAL WHERE NURSES, DOCS, EVERYONE, EVEN SECURITY TREATS YOU WITH CARE, DIGNITY, AND RESPECT. THE DIFFERENCE IN LUKE'S VS ABREZO IS LIKE NIGHT AND DAY! TOTAL OPPOSITES.. ..ST LUKE'S NEEDS TO BE SHUT DOWN. THEY TALK DOWN TO YOU, CONDESCENDINGLY, WITH ROTTEN ATTITUDES. .. They are simply the nightmare from HELL... the ER, MAIN HOSP, IAND BEHAVIORAL HEALTH.. . ALL UNITS ARE THE SAME, DESPICABLE & DEPLORABLE! GO ANYWHERE ELSE FOLKS! AND GOD BLESS EACH OF YOU.... ✔️

Can't give a negative star review so a one star review will have to suffice. Never go here if you want good care. My father had spinal surgery and needs a test done the day after surgery (which would be today). This hospital does not have one person on staff in the whole facility to do this test and are waiting "to borrow" someone else from a different hospital to come and preform this specific test for my father and other patients that need it as well in order for them to eat and drink water. Nurses on staff do not have an exact time of when she will show up and it's already 2:30pm. Utterly unacceptable for a hospital not to have personnel needed to function properly. Why my father was sent here for his surgery is mind boggling to me, but rest assured I will NEVER allow my father or anyone else I know to be sent here for anything.

I was seen 3 days ago for extreme stomach pain and was given a diagnosis. I was given instructions not to eat berries and take naproxen. Today I found out that there are entire books written on this strict diet, and that antibiotics are usually always the first line of treatment. I tried to call the hospital to follow up and talked to at least 3 ER staff members, all of which told me there was no way I could even leave my number/a message for the doctor I saw and my only option was to make another appointment. Every one of those doctors hung up on me when they found out I had no more money for them. None of the staff was AT ALL sympathetic to the fact that I'm having more symptoms and that I have missed work 3 times because of this. I am now having to file a formal complaint through my insurance company on account of the lack of care I received and the doctors refuse to talk to me. I have never been treated so badly by a doctor, much less a hospital staff in my life. Terrible experience. When my girlfriend was in there I was truly astounded by the lack of compitency of a specific doctor they had sent in. If you want to receive care by physicians that actually care about your well being DO NOT GO TO ST LUKES. Note: I am sorry about the length and I know there are a handful of genuine doctors there, just not enough for comfort.

Jj Hunt

An employee name Dominique Oneal was posting rude Facebook comments about her last job at dignity health while on duty. I think this was extremely unprofessional of her while in duty and in the public.

Lewis German

They call you a day before surgery and ask you your medical history. Let you get all the way to the surgery prep area to find out that they use nurse anesthetists instead of anesthesiologists. BIG difference 6 years education verses at least 12. A real hospital like St. Josephs here ONLY use anesthesiologists. I would not go back there to have a splinter removed from my finger.

Michael Hildebrand

Excellent hospital and care. All staff is very friendly and they take good care of you.

Francis Arredondo

Went in around 1:30 pm and wasn’t discharged around 7 pm they couldn’t say what was wrong im a couple weeks pregnant and been having vaginal bleeding , couldn’t get one straight answer, if it is a miscarriage or not. Waited about 5 hrs to get an ultra sound & when I was finally discharged with my paperwork I was discharged with another patients paperwork and mine was on the bottom (major HIPAA violation). Now I have to wait till my appointment with ob to see if I lost my baby or not. Didnt even talk to a physician the time I was there, nurses were the ones passing the info on. Worst feeling when whole staff is uncertain of what’s wrong makes me feel worse, Especially in my sensitive condition. Would not recommend this hospital.

Nicole Chesley

I will change my rating if someone can bring my cousin food from Jack in the Box room 806 she said the food is gross. She has no restrictions yet. So I changed my rating because this worked they sent someone to her room.

Carson Hall

I had an episode on an airplane and the plane was diverted to AZ. I was taken to St. Luke's. The whole staff was kind to me, understanding, and helped me to get better and get on my way. Thank you St. Luke's

Karina Barraza

Love them❤

Carlos Manzanera

Took my son in 2014 paid the bill upfront now in 2016 they send me another bill while threatening me to send my info to collection. I will never take myself or any of my kids here ever again.

Janet R

Went to emergency all they give you is pain pills and ice.

Jean Marie Walker

If you're a psychiatric patient, STAY AWAY. I was strapped to a bed in a position that caused great agony, virtually naked with everything showing to anyone who walked by, forcibly given a shot of a medication that has a history of causing me dystonia--a rather serious movement disorder--in full knowledge of my history with that medication, and then left alone in a room, in great pain, in thirst, in terror, with no way of knowing how long I would be left that way. It was 90 minutes. And then, just for added fun, when I was finally released from the barbaric shackles, I was threatened: "I just got on shift and I can put you right back in these things for my entire 12-hour shift; it makes no difference to me."

Karen Anne Mahoney

My husband is a current patient on the orthopedic floor with a bilateral knee replacement. In the past 17 years, he has been hospitalized more than 25 times in Wisconsin and Arizona with multiple surgeries and other serious health issues. I have to say that by far, this has been the finest hospital experience we have ever had. From his surgical team to the nurses, CNAs, physical therapists and dieticians, the care has been exemplary. While nothing is perfect, this team truly wants to do a good job and truly try their best. I have never felt comfortable in leaving my husband overnight while I went home, but here, I did--that is how comfortable I am in their level of care and medical expertise. Thank you for everything, from the bottom of my heart.

mike sandoval

My wife is her now and has been treated so horible its sad and pathetic . So dirat of all my wife was schedulled for 12:30am check in and she woke up early the day of and was thursty so called to see if ahe can have water they were like no but you know your time was moved to 9:00am now keep in mind no one ever called us or informed us #2 after surgery my wife was taken to a recovery room and was in a lot of pain and crying and the nurse had the nerve to say "well crying wont make the pain go away" and if that was not enough to stray you to find a better place for health care #3 they punished my wife is what it seemed like after we complained it took over a hour for meds ice chips ya we will get them for you umm never i had to ask 3 times 2 other people not to mention my wife asked a nurse for the in charge nurse to file a complaint so they were like ok np 10 mins i walk to ask the nurse for ice chips and i over herd the nurse in charge, the nurse main sup amd the first nurse my wife asked to get them all 3 of the were joking "haha haha ge me the charge nurse ya whatever" the sad thing is that i talked to highly of st lukes because my mother had came her for many year looks like it used to be a great place and is not filled a bunch of people not willing to be professional and take good care of the people that seek medical help there.

Gisselle Palalia

Its stupid the food is like hell and have bad staff!

Rey Reyes

Wen I was inpatient I got good tooquen care of my

Jenna Colombero

This place is ridiculous. They don’t care about patients at all. My mom was discharged after less than an hour despite her history of strokes because someone who was “more critical” than she was needed their attention. This is according to a “nurse” named Larissa. JC answered the phone and was rude and unhelpful along with another nurse who refused her name and they had the nerve to hang up on me twice. Worst excuse for healthcare I have EVER experienced.

Jennifer Taylor

I have now been to this hospital 2 times for bariatric surgery and two endoscopies. This hospital and their staff are simply AMAZING!!! They are the most compassionate caregivers. From Dr. Schuster, my surgeon, to my nurses Jasmine, Danielle and Katie to the CNA's Gilbert and Willie to the fantastic Diana and Rob in pre-op. I love, love, love you guys! I always feel so comfortable when I stay there. Thank you for being so amazing from top to bottom!

Jason Miszuk

Jennifer Mitchell is amazing and so is the care team at St. Lukes Medical center. I am impressed with the patient care and staff. Super friendly and supportive. I would recommend St Luke's to anyone looking for a great hospital, doctors, nurses and care team. Keep up the good work. Rock stars!!!

Lakisha Coulter

This hospital has a terrible ER staff. I was recently discharged, and none of my symptoms were properly addressed. I have bilateral Pulmonary Embolisms, and was experiencing shortness of breath, when I had the unpleasant experience of one of the nurses, a heavy set African American woman, decided to broadcast my past ER visits and medical history to the entire unit. My nurse had to stop treating me, to go and inform her that she was violating HIPAA. The Nurse Practitioner that saw me spent less than 5 min face to face with me. He danced around my questions and discharged me as I was still struggling to breathe. I overheard he and my nurse's remarks about it being all in my head, and joking about giving me placebos. I will never seek help from this hospital again, and if you care about your privacy and your health, you won't either. It's disheartening, especially since the hospital staff that treat you once you've been admitted, are truly awesome.

I went there to get a second opinion as my pain from my fractured ribs was getting worse. The doctor or nurse (not sure which, but she seemed to think she was a doctor) treated me like I was stupid. She accused me of drug seeking, said there was nothing wrong so there was nothing she could do, so I walked out. I have never been to a hospital with such lazy and rude staff. All I needed was someone to do an xray and accurately diagnose a traumatic injury. Instead I received a lecture on opioid addiction and told that taking xrays would be a waste of their time. I will NEVER attempt to receive service from this hospital again. Very unprofessional staff is a red flag indicator or incompetence and medical ignorance. Worst experience with ANY medical provider I have experienced.

TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE - please read on...... They may delete this comment, I have copied it into another document for future reference and use. Needed help, called for help and waited and waited and waited. . . no one came. In my admitting process I agreed to keep the video camera on in my room. They evidently don't even watch this at the nurse's station. I finally unhooked the BP cuff, it began beeping, no one came. I continued to disconnect what needed to be disconnected, no one came, I began removing the bedding, no one came, I finally undid all that I needed to have undone so I could simply go the bathroom, by this time it was too late....I went into the bathroom and freshened my body.....no one came. AH ha, finally my husband returned. He got their attention and demanded that the IV be removed as he was taking me home. They tried to give me a generic blood pressure RX that on my admission form, I told them I had to take brand as the generic does not work.....Why ask if you are not going to respect the responses. Room was freezing, my husband brought me a heating pad just to warm my feet. Is this a teaching hospital? Not disclosed if so, however, was addressed by students. Please think twice before you go here.

My wife fell at the airport on her way to Monterey and was transported to the ER at St. Lukes. We live in the Tampa, Florida area. She was in the ER for over 33 hours with a shattered humurous and tibia before she got a room. Even after I requested a doctor to call me to let me know what arrangements I would need for her back home, and the best way to transport her, no one has even bothered to call me yet. I don't know if they care about the patients, but in my experience they do not care about the family. The only call I ever received was from the airport while the paramedics were with her and was never told where she was being taken for treatment. Why did it take so long for her to get a room? Why no call to the family? I may update this when I get back after talking to someone face to face. I'm flying out now, still with no answers after 3 days.

Rob bianchi

Mother was transferred to Phoenix st. Luke's from Tempe location . Hospital and staff did excellent job taking care of her.

Laura Cavness

ER staff was amazing!

Lori Messier

I just wish that I could remember the names of the nurses that cared for me on 8/11 during my outpatient visit, they were amazing. So was Dr. Oris and the anesthesiologist. Sounds weird but it was fun joking and laughing with the staff before and after my procedure, they really put me at ease and accommodated my allergic needs too. Thank you Phoenix St. Luke’s! :)

Barbara Atkins

Would not recommend this hospital under any conditions. Patient care is substandard at best.

Jennifer Pisa

Emergency room staff super nice. clean, fast... and explained to me what i needed on way out.

Celia Ingrahm

No physical therapy ordered after major surgery. Rang for a nurse and would wait an hour and half. This hospital definitely needs help!

luis Pizana

My daughter may have a brain tumor and this emergency room only has 6 chairs everyone has to stand and after 3 hours still not one single person was called back

Debbie McBride

My husband had shoulder replacement surgery yesterday and his treatment there was exceptional. Every one we interacted with was well trained, professional, and kind. I spent the night and intended to sleep in a chair and they brought in a cot. I could not be more grateful.

Jessica Murray

I have kidney stones and telling them my past of tht u would think they would know what to do but no insted of treating me they sent me home now I have to have extrem surgery so sad

Deb Mathieu

RUN RUN RUN from this hospital. My friend was in an emergency situation after a surgery and from the moment she went in to the ER it just went downhill. Long story short she nearly passed away. Finally family intervened and transferred her to Mayo where she recuperated in days.

Linda Lou McCall

GenX 4Life

Nothing worse than being shot down while unhealthy. It happens all the time. I was told by an individual that there's "no cure", "nothing they can do", "lab is a waste". I took the lab anyway, and that's where everything changed. These physicians are the most caring, sweetest, and most responsible that I have ever seen in a hospitol. THANK YOU ST LUKE for these amazing people!

Khalid Ahmed

Terrible service, which implies poor culture.. very disorganized, for me it will be last time, banner health and dignity health are much more Superior

My mind is blown at how rude not only I was treated, but I got to sit there and listen to the nurses across the way talk about how annoying the crying baby was and other rude comments about patience. My situation, the doctor literally told me that she did not know what was going on but she wasn't worried, I didn't go there because of my concern for her worry, I was worried because my primary care doctor was worried. Reading others reviews while I was waiting for a doctor kind of gave me the idea that this place was a joke. It is, certainly would not return. I must say the guy with a shaved head at the front desk was super polite from the beginning until the end. Even with my clear frustration at the situation he was very polite. There are other hospitals very close to here, I'd recommend trying one of those

Had surgery here 07/18/18. I was constantly informed of what was going on. I received some of the best care that I've ever had. After being moved to a room, the nurses on that floor were great I do not have a single complaint about the care that I received or this facility. Very satisfied with my decision to have my surgical procedure here.

Hedda Franklin

Staff is great! Always caring and helpful.

I understand people are entitled to their opinion in these reviews, which is based usually on perception. My personal perception of my care at St Luke's was great. I've been in different hospital several times in the past 7 yrs for different reasons. I do admit i came here specially because this is the only hospital my dr works out of, but from emergency room to check out 3 days later, i felt i had awesome care. Did a few nurses not smile every time they walked into my room, of course, it's not a perfect world. I didn't take it the wrong way. Again, perception. Is it unprofessional to be like that?? , absolutely not. At the end of the day, we're all human. I would definitely come back and recommend this hospital. I was here back in Oct, 2018.

I had a wonderful experience, one that turned my life around. I was dual diagnosed and spent 30 days at St Lukes. They saved my life and got me moving on a long term recovery program. This is my experience- and it is not east, buy I strongly recommend St. Lukes' for serious addiction / mental health problems.

Michael Perry

All of the staff, particularly the nurses and CRNAs, were outstanding. Having been treated at 6-7 other hospitals around the Valley over the last 30 years I must say my experience at St. Luke's Medical Center was equal to or better than any other hospital in central Arizona.

Alex Taylor

Worst detox/rehab facility that my family.and.I.have encountered and.thats saying a lot because weve been through this lrocess now at .8 different.places... Feel bad for the people of.Phoenix if st. Luke's is.supposed to be the best place!

Amy Guins

Everyone is really nice and truly cares about delivering excellent quality of care!

Maggie Sokolov

Terrible experience, doctors barely had any patients and still wouldn’t pay attention to me. Sent me home having to deal with my pain, without administering anything for it.

Thanks to all the nurses in ICU (2nd Floor) for doing a job well done in caring for my mother!! Some of you nurses really do work from the heart!! My mom was a patient from 2/15/18-4/9/18 (not too sure on the discharged date.) My mom is still on the road to recovery and doing great!! Thank you, Thank you!! April..

I've worked in more than one hospital the process takes absolutely way to long to gey care once behind the door. They are not attentive to their patients; the whole time I've been in here Ive been checked on one time I just need to know whats wrong and not sit in a room for 3hours.

I had an awful experience starting with the charge nurse. She was unprofessional, aggressive and the worse bedside manners I have ever seen. If you have to be under Patty's care I wish you luck. She was unprepared and used a alcohol pad on a open wound. It was horrible.

Leonard John Montez

Lori the Case Manager was very rude, unprofessional and very disrespectful, She told me my Father was diagnosed with a diagnoses that doesn't exist. She sent him to a SNF that was very low class. She needs a good training session on patient care. Hospital just wanted him out and didn't want to take the time to evaluate his care needs. Terrible experience, and will never go to this hospital. It will be worth the extra driving to a Care facility that actually cares about patients.

I am here with my sister who just has bypass surgery. A nurse just verbally attacked her stating no one wanted her here from the doctors to the nursing staff. Then when the nurse's supervisor was called in. OH NO MY NURSE WOULDNT SAY THAT. Well she did. Then come to find out the nurse was told by another nurse about a difficult patient WHO WAS NOT MY SISTER. And that nurse took it upon herself to be unprofessional towards the wrong patient(my sister) Which should not have been done in the first place. When a person is in pain and depending on someone who is trained to help and they dont. Its just sad.

Ashley Glick

I had an absolutely terrible experience! Not only were staff members unfriendly, they were inconsistent and seemed bothered by basic performance of their jobs. I do not and would not ever recommended this hospital to anyone.

DANNIS a classy man who worked in recreational therapy here in 2009, after I was chased by the police for being stopped in my car on the 70 MPH moving freeway traffic and had to have my safety as top concern as rookie cop wanted to get me to get out of vehicle alongside 70 MPH moving traffic. What I don't understand is that 30 states have passed law saying that motorists must move into left lane when officer making traffic stop. I've been to 47 states and frequently see this violated. Those indolent motorists are endangering the cop more than the person being pulled over for a citation. In my case no citation was issued because I was in the carpool lane 1 minute after carpool time change. Strange that the nurse's job is putting medication into small dixie cups. I requested a vitamin and it had purple coating. That doesn't seem healthy. Nurses are so dumb and egotistical today. They are lazy because they want a $100,000/year salary for 2 years of easy 'education' I got double portions and free underwear and a few friends too

I do not recommend this place whatsoever, they are so rude. It took them five whole minutes before they answered my call and once they did answer it was this lady that was so bratty and she acted like she didn't care about what I had to say and after ten seconds she just hung up on me. Go somewhere else that place is not worth it and they should make sure that their faculty member's behavior is good, they also need to make their service better.

Melissa & Anyssa

I CAN NOT BELIEVE HOW RUDE THE STAFF WAS AT THE BEHAVIORAL HOPSITAL ! THE HUNG UP ON ME WHEN I WAS ASKING QUESTIONS GAVE ME SO MUCH ATTITUDE IT WAS AWFUL ! FREEMELISSA

In my field of work, we often make hospital visits to St. Lukes. Regardless which unit I have visited, the staff & medical professionals are friendly, well informed, & seem to be invested in the patients recovery. One of the best hospitals I've visited.

Mr D

I just had surgery here. I'm not impressed one bit with St. Lukes. To start with. Registration was a joke. I showed up 15 minutes before i was told to and signed in. 30 minutes later i went to see if i had been missed or forgotten. This rude lady barks " I'll get to you when i get to you" 15 minutes later a guy named Manny calls me over. He's already got all my info but hes so tied up on the insurance and payments he wastes another 20 minutes trying to figure out what is right in front of him. Then i finally go to pre op. Get ready and have my surgery. All went smooth thankfully but that's where the good ended. Once in my room i was ignored for several hours. Finally got my nurses attention and told him i wanted to get up and walk around since my surgeon told me to do so as soon as i could. Well my nurse said ok but left. After shift change (3 hours later) my new nurse came in and took care of me. I asked for ice chips or water and she left. 2 hours later a woman who spoke no english came in gave me water and left. I spent the rest of the night only being checked on once. Throughout the night i could hear nurses talking down at the desk ( F this. F that. That stupid B. Of god. Room 6 wants water. Oh jesus room 9 needs a F-ing blanket) for hours i could hear them talking about patients in this mannor. I'm so glad i got released that day. I guarantee I'll never come to St. Lukes again. EVER.

Sabrina Traylor

Staff was kind I was always treated with respect.

Sonya & the rest of the nursing staff in the I.C.U. rock. Thanks for a top notch experience. First Class Care.

Doctors forced me to take medication I assured them I was allergic to, 15 minutes after ingestion of the medication I developed a slight fever of 100.4 and could not cool down to save my life. I was in so much pain from my throat swelling and the heat I was crying when the nurse came in and asked why I was crying I responded with " because it's so hot in here and I'm in a lot of pain" they went to discharge me and clearly it states that I am allergic to naproxen and Tylenol on my chart and they prescribed me naproxen..... I left the hospital crying due to pain and lack of help I received and when I got into the parking lot I immediately threw up. I went back inside and asked what medications I was given on top of the ibprofen (seeing as I told the nurse my body cannot handle ibprofen and I hadn't taken it in over 10 years) and they refused to tell me what medication I was given. When security had the nurse come speak to me she was very very rude and in a very snarky tone said well just don't feel your prescriptions then... I don't know what to tell you you either want help or not. So I asked for an icepack just to drive home since my body could not cool down and she didn't say a word and just stormed off..... Since last night my symptoms have gotten worse and have not gotten any better since then the vomiting has continued and the pain is persistently more worse has the minutes pass.

Horrible care. Took them almost 45 minutes to bring a medication. Then took about 15-20 min for them to come assist my grandmother because she needed a machines to be disconnected so that she could use the restroom. Then go down to the cafeteria to get a drink at 1:45 pm on a Sunday and they're closed? Who does that? Not sure why they admitted my grandmother here but this will be the last time. #ghetto

I was at the hospital about from 11am around almost 8 pm . They charged me 9.000 something and doctor fee 1800. I was in the hallway most of the time. No lunch .After a child had passed out and a patience screaming it had me upset .I feel bad for people that are in pain , passed out or hear someone say that this teen tried to kill herself and she screaming , I wanted to go home an hide. I was so hungry, had some test done, a nurse told me a blood test showed something was wrong , they had to get another test done to see if it was a blood clot, which the guy told me it would take two hours or a half to get the results, within 20 minutes the doctor tell me everything OK. I was going home. When I was in the lobby this lady told me they didn't find out what was wrong with her and she had heart failure like me. She said they was rushing her out . No one tild her what was wrong g with her. I will not go there again. All that money for what . What was wrong ? I should been told something .

I recently had to have another surgery at St Luke medical center. This was a follow up procedure after my first procedure 6 weeks ago. Once again, I was very impressed at how professional, caring, and friendly the entire staff was. From admissions to discharge, couldn’t have been more pleased with my care.

JiKiFREAK KAERFiKiJ

Great service! Even tho it was super busy, I was seen quick for an ankle injury. Dr was awesome and made sure I left in less pain and gave me meds to help with the pain as well.

Angela Alford

Visited the ER for pneumonia like symptoms. The P.A. had terrible bedside manor but diagnosed me with pneumonia and admitted me for treatmen. The reason I rated them with 5 stars is for one reason only. The RN named Lorena C. on the 6th floor was the best nurse I have ever met. Lorena was very polite and informative about my medication and treatment. She was not only caring and compassionate, but she she listened to me and answered all of my questions. I felt as though I was her only patient and I assure you I was not. This hospital should be grateful that she works for them. I would return to this hospital solely because of Loren C.

George Corral

Fast service at the emergency room.

Michael Hansen

When I arrived in the E.R for a broken foot there was NOBODY in the waiting room. As should be expected I was quickly taken back and given a room. Then it took hours before they came to x-ray my foot. Then it took another 2 hours before the doctor came in. All I hear in the hallways are employees having personal conversations and generally chit-chatting. Does anybody ACTUALLY work here?

Kristine Warrior

They wouldn't accept me because I didn't have health insurance. They told me I had to be suicidal to be seen by the doctor. WOW. Nurses were extremely unfriendly and one rolled her eyes twice.

Star Shine

Very friendly atmosphere. Took great care of me and helped ease my fears

This place and it's late night staff is questionable and has rude bedside manner and overall poor work ethic. I can agree that while i am young and maybe less experienced in healthcare, i can understand how to take simple vital signs, medical assistant duties, and duties of nurses. I went to a medical based high school program for 4 years and know these basics. I came into this place with my mother who had a pain inducing mass above her anterior foot. When my mother was given pain medication (twice) that could likely alter her state, the bed side rails weren't put up! Apparently only one pillow to elevate her foot could be found. No one asked her if she had a medical allergy (which she does). When she came in, she also wasn't told what she was signing. The nurses behind the desk were cussing and whipping each other w ith towels as i walked out to ask for a blanket for her. Childish. There was no call button/remote in her room! (What?! Suppose I wasn't there to ask people for help?) Receptionist was eh. PA was very detailed and nice before she had to leave for the night. Charge Nurse was eh. Another blonde nurse Leigh was completely rude to talk to and rolled her eyes in the presence of us behind another nurse's back. A woman needed to relieve herself and was yelled at and handled poorly in my eyes when told she had to use a certain bathroom. Took the PA almost 45 minutes to talk to the attending physician and have him come to the room. Physician was attentive but took way too long to come in or even send someone in or order an xray but then got called away for an understandable emergency. A nurse also bad mouthed a patient (that got upset and left) to the point where we could hear. Very unprofessional. The only good woman working was a nurse named Ryan. This place needs an update on HIPPA, standard procedures, and more friggin supplies! Also a huge reality check in health care professionalism and empathy for patients! Will not have my mother come back here again. Not even for the flu. EVER.

Kevin Woodruff

By far the most racist ugly unprofessional people I've ever dealt with.

Aaron Enos

Please go elsewhere if you can. The ER staff are arrogant, compassionless and act as if they can't be bothered with you. Your hard earned money for medical care would be better spent at a different hospital.

Rikardo Rangel

My mom went into emergency because she had chest pain and a horrid cough. We waite for about an hour and we finally got called in, Joan was the nicest nurse she goes in and she was super friendly and although she was busy she was not rushed at all. Everyone there was friendly, before this we went to Concentra Urgent Care and a "doctor" there was sooo rude! But they helped us, turned out she had a bad flu, she is still very ill but thanks to Joan and the other staff they helped us out. (Joan needs a pay raise ASAP!)

If only there was a rating lower than 1 star. I was 15 when I was in St. Luke's behavioral unit for suicidal thoughts and depression in mid-January of 2017 for a week. It took 3 hours to be admitted to the behavioral unit (signing paperwork, etc). When a nurse brought me to the psych wing, I was placed in the children's side (meant for patients age 12 and under) despite my parents' specific request for me to be placed in the adolescent side. It was disappointing, as I was the oldest one there, and I did not receive the necessary group therapy and instead, had to participate in exercises meant for preschool and grade-school patients. The night I was admitted, I had asked one of the night nurses if they had any information of my placement from conferences between my parents and doctors. I recall she said, "No. You were talking and meeting strangers online. That's immature, and you should know better; you're 15. You need to grow up, and that's childish. I don't think you deserve to be on that side." I was extremely distraught and was having a panic attack. I replied, "That's not appropriate to say." The nurse then lectured me about the other patients' situations and guilt-tripped me-targeting me, rather. I was crying hysterically and hyperventilating while she and another tech stood by. The nurse gave me some sleeping and anxiety meds, said nothing, and sent me to my room. The next morning while nurses were taking my vitals, another nurse commented on my self harm scars, calling them "ugly." I called my parents, and they came to confront the main person in charge of the behavioral staff. Like me, they were furious and unsatisfied with how I was treated. The director of nurses covered for the nurse's inappropriate behavior, as if validating it. I wanted to leave because I was miserable and ever more depressed than I was when I was admitted. For the entirety of my week stay, that same nurse would give me dirty looks. That nurse violated the H.I.P.P.A law of confidentially when she was addressing me right in front of children. The director of nurses didn't do anything about it when I told them the details of what happened on the following day. I felt victimized and humiliated A few days later, a spot opened on the adolescent side, and I was transferred there. There was nothing noteworthy (good or bad) from that side. However, the psychiatrist and social worker that attended to my family and I were very understanding and sincere, not to mention professional. Prior to coming to St. Luke's, I voluntarily asked for help upon realizing how much I was struggling. It was very difficult. When I was discharged, I finished my letter of complaint (I had been working on it while inpatient). I sent it via email and mail to St. Luke's offices, not once, but twice. My family and I never got a response even to this day. I strongly advise to not seek treatment from St. Luke's. I was certainly not impressed. I have written this review in hopes that no one else has to go through what I went through. St. Luke's was unable to fulfill my needs, and I believe that action has to be taken to ensure this is not repeated with future patients.

Halid Muzaffarov

That important for me is they are respect full to the patients thanks to everyone.

Vanessa Vallejo

Amazing and caring staff! I had been suffering with medical problems for the past few months and they did anything and everything to help figure out what was wrong. I’m forever grateful!

Ariel Ordonez

I just had Sleeve surgery here June 4th, it was a horrible experience. My family waited 2 hours past my surgery not knowing I was already in my room. No one bothered to tell them I was okay. The nurses never check in, when you asked for something it would take at least 45min if they showed at all. I asked for ice at lease 3 times and never received it. One nurse left me in the bathroom and told me to pull the string when I was done. I pulled and pulled the string and waited 20 min before hurting my stitches to pull myself up and to bed. If my husband was not there most of the time I don’t know what I would have done. He helped me stand and walk while the nurses did nothing to assist. The hospital itself is in need of a desperate remodel/update. Every time my husband went to cafeteria to eat it was closed (lunch, dinner). On my release day they said they didn’t have a wheele chair to assist me out and I had to walk. I was in bad pain and pretty upset about that. When I went to ask my nurse if she could look for a wheel chair she said she had to finish her round with 4 other patients then would help me. I asked how long she said I don’t know. Another nurse offered to help me and pulled a wheel chair from an empty room. I guess they did in fact have them. The Nurses are rude and just horrible with their patients. I suggest not going here unless you don’t mind the lousy treatment from nurses who could care less about their patients.

Susy Trinidad

If I could give it a negative rating I would. My mom's physician sent her straight to the ER after her appointment because she had lower abdominal pain and lower back pain and was also dehydrated. His medical assistant walked us to the ER and when my mom was in the ER the ER doctoe came in talked to us and walked out all they did was blood work and a urine test. 4 hours later a different Dr comes in and tells me there is nothing wrong with her and they are sending her home. I told her that she was in alot of pain there has to be something wrong her answer was she can move her legs so it is not a spinal fracture and clearly not an emergency and walked away. The next day I had to take her to a different hospital because her pain got worst. Turns out she had to be admitted because she had several things wrong with her. Thank God there are other hospitals who actually cared or else idk what would have happened to my mom.
