My procedure went really well, my caregivers were excellent. Unfortunately, their admitting process enabled an error in my name...did not affect my treatment nor outcome, but a little irritating that they relied on 20 year old info, instead of updating it before my procedure.

Please remind your Emergency Room staff that patients have the right to KIND and RESPECTFUL care! All three of my kids were born at Providence Hospital, so I thought I could trust your staff with my husband's extremely painful and red, swollen leg infection. Early this morning, after being discharged with antibiotics, my husband CRAWLED out of your emergency room entrance, after being told to get out of a wheelchair. There were no handrails at the door where he was told to get up! He couldn't walk because of his infected leg! Other patrons kindly assisted him to his car. Your staff did nothing to help him, except send a security guard once he was already in the car! This is extremely undignified and disrespectful. I have made a complaint to the BBB and to your Service Excellence Coordinator. He had to crawl! And prior to that, the doctor assumed he was "seeking pain medicine" and treated him with disrespect. All he wanted and needed was antibiotics! sept. 24, 2014 between 6:50 Am and 8:30 AM whoever worked that day--- the ER staff and doctor need to remember to TREAT PATIENTS WITH RESPECT AND KINDNESS.

Recently my son was born at Providence. I have nothing but positive things to say about the nursing staff. They were polite, caring, and compassionate in dealing with my wife. Having a baby especially our first was a joyful, but stressful time. I didn't enjoy the lactation consultants that kept coming by our room while we were in so called recovery. The were unprofessional and couldn't have been more rude towards my wife telling her if she couldn't breastfeed then she was failing our child. We were discharged on a Thursday with no real tips on how to get our son to latch, just if we didn't we were bad parents. The first night he wouldn't eat anything. We went to our pediatric doctor Friday morning concerned for his wellbeing. He has lost 18% of his birthweight. We got on a program as described by our doctor, and their lactation consultant, by his Monday morning check up he had gained the 18% back and more. He is now a healthy baby boy who continues to grow and thrive. There is good and bad with every place you could go. Overall it wasn't the end of the world, but they could do better.

The hospital experience was fine. However the follow up was very inadequate and unclear. It is very difficult to make contact with the providers. The site to view records and obtain personal information is not a friendly user experience. After the providers were through with me I felt like I was a product of some factory where it was all about production and efficiency with very little concern for the patient.

I was with a family member who had surgery there and was sent to an “observation Unit” to stay overnight because they don’t do individual room any longer, in a bay that’s what they called it 1.) she had to be told she had a serious condition in a big room with other people while they asked her nane everyone they came in and with other patients do I learned several peoples names there and their condition and why they were there which seems like a HIPPA violation if I ever seen, then they have lights out because nobody has their own light , then a nurse came in the morning and had to draw blood with a flashlight because not ALL the patients wanted “lights on” , and then you have people just coughing and choking in the next bay and let’s get into the bathroom you go in once and there’s urine all over the toilet , next time she goes in there’s a urine collected full of urine still in the toilet , I’ve never seen anything so unatural and disgusting and just plain uncomfortable no privacy for what I’m sure she will be charged an astounding amount for this type of service , pretty sure they’re making more $ this way cause I know they didn’t lower the charges , but this just plain disgusting for the patient and I wonder if insurance companies know what they are paying for , because they only bill in time there not that you were in a “bay” of curtains they call soundproof but had netting at the top

The most compassionate hospital in Alaska! Level 2 Trauma, Magnet Hospital, & more awards+designations. Providence is committed to Quality service, Safety & geared up to excellence for Best Outcomes. They listen to your comments or feedback that you may have sent. They will do their best care and ease your way. They are not perfect but they do their best. Please be kind to the caregivers too. Communicate!

Worst hospital visit in my life this far. Doctors ignore/neglect medical history, physical symptoms, current medication side effects and next to kin wishes. I am a US veteran who was suffering from a neurological illness. After being racially profiled, I was treated as a drug addicted, alcoholic, sexual deviant, because 3/4 of their doctors can't recognize a common neurological illness. Dr. Leinicke performed several medical procedures, labs and tests after being told not to do so. She also lied on the medical records and continues to lie when questioned about her actions. After being told I was critically ill, I was sent home minutes later with no diagnosis, no medication, with a stranger. Top notch care from these geniuses. No talent, no tact, no problem.

I was recently diverted here from on-base care because Labor and delivery was full. From the very beginning, service was swift and I was taken to the Labor and Delivery triage unit immediately. The nurses there were amazing, friendly, personable, knowledgeable and treated me with the most incredible care. I arrived because I was having early contractions at 23 weeks. After a few hours, I was transferred to the Mother & Baby unit. The nurses there were equally as kind and gentle and treated my situation with such delicacy. I decided then that I would love to have my baby here. Later on, I was diagnosed with pneumonia, which was he cause of the contractions amongst other things and was transferred yet again to the Progressive care unit. It seemed that no matter where I went, the quality of care remained consistent and at its highest. I was constantly monitored and made sure that I was as comfortable as they could possibly make me. I was later transferred again to the Mother & Baby unit once my condition was stable enough and it was there that I remained for the rest of my recovery until discharge. My whole stay was a total of 5 days and I would definitely recommend this facility to others. It's standard of service is as comparable to those of Hopkins and Dartmouth. I was thoroughly impressed! Hoping to have my baby at providence once I'm full term.

We have had positive experiences at Providence with pediatricians, and many other doctors and staff. For those individuals, we give 5 stars. We have also had positive experiences with various practices affiliated with the hospital. We are thankful for their good care. We leave a negative review regarding our experience with OB Triage. At 40 weeks pregnant, I showed up fevering and tachycardic, with complaints of unusual uteran pain two nights in a row. Not once was an OBGYN sent to my bedside. An under-experienced midwife and staff were given far too little supervision, and our family fell through the cracks. Proper protocol was not in place that could have helped protect me and my baby. I was told I had a "little stuffy nose" and was sent home to rest. I had presented with significant markers of maternal infection and never should have been discharged-let alone twice. I suffered a traumatic birth, a severe postpartum hemorrhage, and my newborn was diagnosed with meningitis. Hopefully the hospital has made necessary changes so others do not experience similar trauma. We will be delivering our next baby with Regional.

My daughter had her endoscopy, out patient procedure there. The entire nursing staff were amazing. Shout out to Nurse Ronda for explaining everything to our nine year old. She made her feel comfortable. Check in was easy and fast. We were impressed with Providence hospital and the staff; you can tell they love what they do.

SURGICAL UNIT 4th floor, we want to thank Dr. Portera and his surgical team - all nurses, tech's, social workers, housekeeping, kitchen staff for their outstanding service and compassionate care during my son's stay at Providence. We felt at once confident in Dr. Portera's capable hands as a fine surgeon. He is professional and caring and possesses a gentle and oh so welcome ! Sense of humor. Dr was waiting for test results for a test he didn't order. I was not allowed anything to eat or drink while this Dr waited for a test he didn't order. I had to leave the ER to use my cell phone so I wouldn't be on the street tonight because I'm from another city. I left a note on the bed saying what I was doing and to call me at my number if I was needed. I came back into the ER and was told I had been discharged. The pregnant nurse came out and said they tried to call me. The nurse didn't use the area code though I told her 3 times that she needed to dial the area code. She was rude and said we don't have to dial an area code. After she walked away handing me bogus discharge papers that say my temp was 98.3. I took my temp about 15 min after finding out I had been discharged and it is 99.5. I took pictures of the thermometer in my mouth and the result. I went to the front counter and asked for the lady there to call me. She called and my phone rang. I would have been left very ill on the street with no way to get back to my city if I didnt ask for the social worker to come back. I will die before I ever come to this ER again. I'm on medications that weaken my immune system. I'm making a complaint so no one has to go through what I have. Incompetence at its worst is what I experienced. Except the social worker was very helpful and competent.

Wonderfull ER service and care! We were on vacation and I became quite ill. No wait, and Doctor appeared before I was even in an exam room! No long waits, professional yet caring staff, and they even found medical issues my hometown ER missed (was sick for a couple weeks). Highly recommended by my niece (who is a local nurse) and now by my wife and I.

I don't normally do this, however based on my recent experiences at Providence in Seward Alaska, I feel the need to do so. There is a doctor there at the clinic by the name of Jeanette Nienaber who is without a doubt the most sincerely helpful, genuinely personable, completely professional health care provider I have ever had the pleasure of experiencing anywhere ever period, and I for one am so tremendously grateful to have found her! She takes her time talking "to you' not down or "at you", she listens patiently, explains things clearly and completely, and has simply the most wonderful manner. If ever you need to address any health care issues in Seward Alaska, this is the provider you want to visit and trust! I personally feel blessed to have discovered her!

Simply the worst most inhumane hospital and medical staff I have ever encountered in my life. I was a homeless mentally ill drug addict at that time and was treated as though my life had zero value to this facility on numerous occasions. My girlfriend at the time became pregnant with twin boys and was also a mentally ill person. When she found out she was pregnant (from Providence) she attempted to stop taking some of her psychiatric meds that may have been harmful to the fetuses. This caused her to be rushed into Providence Hospitals Psych ER 3 months later where, knowing she was pregnant, still injected her with a strong dose of Haldol. Shortly afterwards the Haldol caused her to miscarry the babies at her residence and she almost bled to death lying on her bathroom floor. Because of her psychosis and my not being her husband and a homeless drug addict, neither of us were capable of building a malpractice case against this facility and the doctor who murdered our children in cold blood. On numerous other occasions their ER staff and security officers endangered my life and I'm sure plenty of other homeless lives by tossing them out the doors, even during inclement weather and/or subzero temperatures. I am now clean 4yrs and working. I am no longer homeless and live in another state. Even though these traumatic events were years ago now, I am still haunted by how a hospital could treat human lives like they are no better than stray animals or not worth saving. I pray God forgives those staff whom worked at this facility during those dark days.

I was admitted to Providence in late March for 3 days with a heart issue. The nursing staff in CCU and PCU were amazing. They were totally professional, and treated me like a person, not a condition. I feel very blessed to have had such wonderful care.

Dana inknmyblood

Best experience ever! I was welcomed warmly and automatically felt at ease and relaxed. The nurses are amazing they go above and beyond not only for you but for your family as well. My surgeon (Dr.Kim Wright) was the best! He came to see me before and after the surgery. He spoke with me and my family about what exactly was going to happen and was happening. He made sure I was comfortable and felt ok. He truly went above and beyond. I will be recommending him and the hospital to everyone I know.

I had a baby there two years ago and one of the resident doctors fabricated a terrible rumor about me and spread it all over the Labor and Delivery unit. I don’t know why she did it, but it was humiliating. As far as I know she was not reprimanded for it. I didn’t even know the rumor had occurred until my Obstetrician informed me what was going on and that was why all of the staff were being so hostile towards. That’s what happens when you cram a bunch of gossiping women into a work place with no repercussions for their actions.

Michael

Wonderful place. Great environment with caring nurses and doctors. We live in the valley, but prefer Providence as much as possible. It's worth the drive into Anchorage to receive the higher quality of care.

Everytime I go there, the place is clean, service was great. Love the cafeteria as well. Having a chapel and mass daily is awesome! Had my 2 children at Providence, the experience were great!

Some of the staff is ok but for the most part it seems like they just want the money rather then the patients. 4 kids now and each time it's another reason of why we have to stay extra nights. Just because we tried leaving with our newborn 36hrs after birth they threatend us by saying their gonna call cps on us. Definitely going somewhere else for now on.

When I had my hysterectomy they misplaced me. Then went for a hip surgery, they gave me too much nerve blocker and sent me in to seizures, refused to treat the seizures, sent me home literally screaming in pain, only to call me a half hour later to say "we screwed up and weren't suppose to discharge you"! This place is a circus and a half!

I wouldn't go as far to say that I disliked my stay there. I went into preterm labor and was diverted there from on-base. The triage nurse was terrible. According to her, I wasn't having contractions, my water didn't break (which it did, hence why I was there), and I wasn't dilated. She neglected to take blood tests for about 6 hours and didn't give out the antibiotics for the same amount of time. She told me when I went to L and D that it was stupid for me to be there and that I should just go to the pre-natal unit instead. Once we get to L&D, my contractions are 1-2 minutes apart and I'm 7 cm dilated. One nurse from L&D came into the room and said my son had tested positive for Trisomy 18, only to be told by another nurse that she had read the records from JBER wrong. Dr. Counts was amazing, she decided to give me a c-section due to my son being in the transverse position. Nurse Ginny was also nice, just very forgetful. A process of post-op that should have only been 30 minutes lasted 90 and prevented me from seeing my son for an hour and a half. Once taken to the Mother and Baby Unit, I wasn't allowed to see my son for another 9 hours, needless to say, him being early caused him to be in the NICU. Our stay at the NICU has been mixed. Nurses change his care plan, he was actually moved from the nursery part to a private room, and my husband and I were not informed until 7 hours after the fact. When they took us over to the private rooms, the nurses at the desk had no idea who we were talking about because the nurse who switched him (the one who also said we would do more harm than good by holding him) didn't give them the paperwork. We received something symbolizing an apology, but it was a more of a pass the blame situation. The nurses are still changing his care plan and have given us time frames of 72 hours to 2 months of when our son will come home. I will say that the food is actually worlds better than the JBER hospital, but as far as the overall care goes, I will not understand why people rave about Providence and trash JBER. The delivery process with my daughter was way better than what we received at Providence.

My son was life flighted to Providence Hospital on Labor Day 2014. I want to use this forum to say THANK YOU to all of the trauma surgeons and all other staff who saved my son's life that night. A simple thank you just doesn't quite sum it up. You gave me back my son. There are no words for that.

While traveling I had a medical non-emergency relating to a chronic medical condition. This occurred on a holiday weekend so imagine the uselessness of trying to find an open pharmacy. In desperation I went to the ER at Providence and explained my delimma. All the staff were so sympathetic, knowledgeable and helpful. They immediately went into action, getting me the medical appliances I needed and ensuring I was able to continue on my way. Going in, I was truly desperate and the professional, calm manner of the Providence ER staff immediately eased my anxiety. Huge thanks to them and 5 stars for a wonderful facility!

I've had many. Some amazing. I'll speak of those first. The children's hospital cared for my son with a major brain injury. Their Subspecialty clinic is amazing. Their helpfulness when you (very scarily leave that controlled environment) transition home us more than helpful. Care coordinators and the ICU is amazing. The doctors; Goodwin, Clancy, Neuro Smith, endo; now Fenton, brain surgeon; Dr. Tolbert at the time was so amazing, working with Dr Rosen. There so many heroes in there. I could not have had my son in better hands. Because of their cleanliness my son had no infection. They worked with me and PT later OT & ST. I would never go anywhere else. When there's not hand sanitizer everywhere like there is at Providence I don't feel safe from the multitude of germs. I feel they care more about their patients. Migraine help in the past has been amazing in the ER. The past trip to the ER was not good. I could barely finish the question before the nurse or doctor cut me off after a car accident- a very bad one. My passenger received slightly better care the first time but not the second. I believe it was the Dr. But I might try Regional for ER next time. Long/short. Inpatient, please go there. They are amazing. ER: I'm not so sure anymore unless you'll be inpatient status.

Providence hospital is better than Alaska native Hospital & Alaska regional Hospital.!!!!

Other than always being under construction, being difficult to get into and out of being right by UA, and being larger than London Heathrow or Dubai's airport, I've never had an issue there. Put on your walkin' shoes!!! My doctor has since left there, and I followed. I would consider going back to Providence for other medical needs tho! - Edited to reflect another star for their awesome lab services! Thanx guys!!!

We had our daughter here, natural birth. Great nurses and very clean room. I'm not ok with some of the charges while at the hospital. They charged $69 for 2 ibuprofen! I brought my own and they didn't allow me to take my own. Lame!

This is the ONLY hospital we will go to. While on hospital bedrest for nearly 6 weeks and then having a baby 6.5 weeks early the care I received was amazing, and they took such good care of my baby and I. Even as the baby got older and had visits to the ER and then admitted the nurses and doctors went above and beyond to make sure that not only was the baby comfortable but that I was okay and taken care of as well. This is the best hospital in Anchorage.

nastygutterqueen666

My daughter was born here and was diagnosed with anchondroplasia. I was pleased with all the services provided. I feel like the nurses went out of their way to help me and answered all my questions. The doctors on the other hand were a little overwhelming due to how rare my daughter diagnosis is. They were trying to give us so much information all at once, I was only catching like 1 out of 5 things they were trying to explain to us about achondroplasia. But as soon as my spouse and I explained to them that we needed some room to breath, they backed off and sent just two people in to explain everything instead of 10 different doctors throughout the day. Good place.

Greg Groeneweg

Imaging Center in Providence. They are great! I mean they schedule as quickly as they can, they will see you early if it works out because you are there early for your appointment. All the technitions I have experienced were very friendly and took the time to guide me through the experience. They are professional, efficient, respectful, personable and kind...what more could I ask for? Thank you, highly recommend!

My family became acquainted with Providence Hospital in 1970 when we moved to Alaska and my mom was sick 3 times that first year. They took care of her well then, and in all the years since as I and rest of my family have received services, I know of only 2 less than favorable care among probably hundreds of visits over 45 years. That's an excellent record!!!

Just came here today 5/28/18 with back and chest pain. I could barley stand let alone walk, resulting in short breath. They made me walk from the car to the waiting area and to the nurse office which took a total of 20min. This hospital is a joke and staff is not very pleasant to be here on a holiday.

The service and the doctors were great, but when I got discharge from the e.r. at 6am the security guys came to me and told me I can't wait for my pickup which should come at 8am. So they told me I need to get out of there and wait out side where it's negetive 2 degrees. This is unbelievable. And just plain ridiculous. Shame on them for kicking out someone who just got discharged from the e.r. outside to the cold like I was just some homeless person who came in. In fact even if I was homeless they shouldn't do something like that. Shame on that hospital, this is no way to treat someone!!!!

Use to be VERY happy with Providence. Their resent changes Sold to a profit hospital chain (From a Reliable Source) Now makes them the WORST Hospital I have ever had to deal with. Their care is Substandard (Had Surgery there Less then 24 hours had to go back with massive Infection Hospitalized for 3 days on IV antibiotics) Their billing department is totally dysfunctional with multi recorded calls (3 in 15 min) To call their billing and when you call they automatically put you on hold stating "Due to the high volume of calls your hold time exceeds 5 min. This is all happening while I'm at work. Providence you need to get your act togather this is a nightmare.

This hospital is a disgrace. My brother has been in their care for over a month. Now a staff member has stolen his wallet from his room and it just so happened that this was the forth wallet this week on that floor. So far they have done nothing to rectify the situation. Being in a hospital is stress enough on a family without having to worry about your belongings.

Terrible care. I went to the emergency room at Providence and told two nurses and the female doctor Meganne Hendricks that I was sure I had shingles. I had very painful lesions on my face and inside my mouth, all on the left side of my face. They took some swabs of the lesions and after an hour and half came back and said I had facial cellulitis, a bacterial infection. 600 lb people get cellulitis inside of folds of their skin because it hard to clean inside all the folds of fat on their legs. The diagnosis was after I told the doctor that I at first thought it was a bad pimple. I had used neosporin ointment, iodine, and hydrogen peroxide, that did not have any effect. It was a totally wrong diagnosis. They put me on two powerful antibiotics and vicodin while I went through the peak of the shingles attack when most of the nerve damage occurs. Two very painful days later I went to a PA. It took her two minutes to have me smile and see I had paralysis on the left side of my face--Shingles. Providence has the nerve to send me a bill for $1600 which is now with collections. Sorry, so called medical professionals, you don't get paid for screw ups which cause pain, suffering and permeant nerve damage. By the way if you have shingles and they give you opioids they are wrong. Opioids don't work on nerve pain. Ask for Gabapentin. It takes a few days to kick in and work but you can not overdose on it, and it's not habit forming or toxic. With Gabapentin after 25 days on the wrong pain meds I could finally sleep and heal up.

Every time I take my fiance to this hospital they either tell her that she is making things up or that they don't know what could be wrong with her. We have had to wait hours on end to be seen on multiple occasions, we were told that we were completely forgotten about on one occasion, one of the doctors who told my fiance that she was making things up had the Gaul to charge us for seeing my fiance after the hospital itself had charged us. This hospital used to be the example in Alaska, it's still an example; an example of a company of quacks and con artists.

I couldn't have asked for a better labor and delivery experience! From my pre-natal appointments to delivery - every staff member I encountered in this process was absolutely exceptional. Staff, Doctors and nurses alike were extremely professional, but more importantly caring and compassionate. Having a pre-term baby was terrifying, but both he and I were so well taken care of. I am so very thankful to the Providence Medical Staff for helping to bring God's most precious gift safely into this world. God bless you all!

I got to witness first hand the core values of Providence as I journeyed with my friend Tom, his sister, and friends as Tom was born into Eternal Life June 7 on 5 North. Thank you to all at Providence who were there with us easing our way.

Wonderful care for my father's last few days. They all really cared about our father and about the experience we were going through as he was leaving this world. They explained every step and helped us to understand what was happening and which important steps to make next. We were exhausted and heartbroken but all the nurses and doctors were there to comfort us and help us through. I was grateful that they called him by name and treated him with respect even though he was unconscious. Even the doctors and nurses had tears at one point or another. They did all they could do and we're so accommodating to us. When it came time to say goodbye they all came in together as the life support was turned off. They paid their respects and let us have our own time. These are people who care. Thank you

I had Breast Cancer some years back and loved everyone and the care involved at Providence. I would always brag about this place to everyone as well as my family did. I would have given them 5 stars, but not on my trip back to Anchorage in March. I live from out of town and it is very costly for my to fly to Anchorage, pay for hotels, car rentals and meals when I have to see the Doctor. After having a cough for a long time, I needed some tests. After plane reservations and everything was done before my trip, it all got rescheduled. I was still able to make it work, but it was unnecessary. I go in for a liver biopsy because the lymph nodes all lit up on the Pet Scan. Trying to find out if the Breast Cancer has returned or if it's a new cancer. The Ultrasound biopsy didn't work. The Radiologist couldn't get to it. That morning I was to show up at the lab at 7am before going to the day surgery. I get their early and stand in line to wait my turn. I'm second in line. It's my turn and the receptionist says they don't have an order. I couldn't believe it. I walked down to the day surgery and checked with her as I was hoping that my procedure was still ordered. She said they do have an order. I walk back to the lab and the tech finds the order. It seems there was incompetence most of the places we went. I don't know if it is all new staff or what. This was not the old Providence I knew. I'm reading my test results on line and discover some inaccurate information. For one thing I do not and have never had a history of thrombosis or embolism. I called Radiology and spoke with the supervisor. She said they would do an addendum. Your medical record follows you all your life so the information has to be correct. I fly back to Anchorage (expenses again) to have a CT and CT guided biopsy. This Radiologist was great and we finally got it done. This trip was the wonderful Providence that I knew. Today I am reading the addendum and they still haven't fixed the history. They fixed the rest of the information. It shouldn't have to be this way. Now more phone calls.

Our first experience was when our son as born premature at 28 weeks. The staff, nurses and doctors were amazing and made our two months in the NICU amazing. We live in Wasilla but were so impressed with Providence that when we had our second child delivered there. Would highly recommend to anyone needing medical help.

If you're at Providence Alaska Medical Center then you're in good hands. My father and I have had our accidents over the years and thankfully we've survived with the help of these great doctors and nurses. Sadly not all insurance are equal, so make sure your insurance will cover the majority of costs prior to treatment. If this review was helpful please click the Like button.

I was a victim of a violent crime up in Fairbanks. I was medivaced down to providence because of my life threatening brain injuries.Thank you Guardian flight for your services as well.... I found the staff, nurses and doctors to be extremely professional, kind and concerned about my well-being 24 hrs a day and for the 5 days that I was a patient... Nurse Jen and Priscilla on the the fourth floor north were absolutely amazing and I felt like family always treated with kindness and compassion. I would highly recommend their services to anyone who might be in need of them. Thanks to all. I look forward to my return and follow-up treatments. A special Thank you to Kathy Petti my case worker who was like a mother to me and went above and beyond to make sure my needs were met and I was taking care of.. God Bless and keep up the great work. 10 stars from me to you all!

Never get enough, or the right help there, when I was in labor they entered in the incorrect amount of medicine and caused a four minute very painful contraction. When I had surgery they made mistakes with the feeding tube and it made me really sick. From my experiences, they don't always give accurate information at the ER. I always have hope, but I just haven't had the service there that I expect from a hospital.

I am appalled at the lack of diversity in this hospital. Decent care, but the absence of other cultures (besides Caucasian) makes the environment feel unwelcome and uninviting.

Any all right now getting horrible service now getting horrible service... AGAIN!!!! Came here in December assault robbery victim competence me out of bed in the hallway in .ER back two three hours of giving me nothing for pain no breakfast no water going to ask me if I'm even comfortable how do I get back to complain to out to the lobby the intake nurse. S she is by far the strongest employee here. Not just in the emergency room but probably on entire staff

My wife and I took our 2yr old daughter to Providence when she was experiencing shortness of breath as well as labored breathing. Due to the time of day (5:30am) we had to go to ER. The level of care was minimal; however, the charge was ridiculous. A breathing treatment, chest X-ray and labs were done. $745 was paid for attending doctor as well as $500 for breathing treatment and misc. The astonishing charge was The $2345 cost for staff. Please understand total time in ER was 4hrs while 3hrs were spent waiting in a room with no tests or health care being administered. Difficult to say total number of staff that could have been involved for our entire episode but it could not have exceeded 3. For less than 1hrs work. We spoke at length with Lynn C. in billing and she was unable to provide any sort of details on the staff services done. She was very unprofessional and rude as well. Please know this is not our first experience with moderate healthcare followed by significantly overpriced services at Providence in Anchorage. A previous experience ended tragically which can only attribute to negligent/subpar health care professionals. If you have any choice in who you choose for health care needs we strongly suggest you stay away from Providence. By far the worst business practices we have ever experienced in the hospital industry.

My husband had a small stroke and we were just packing up ready to catch a flight home after dropping off the motor home. But we never got that far. We were in Cabellas parking lot when my husband dtopped the keys and said call 911 ! The EMTs were there very shortly and took his vitals. They said we should get checked out at the hospital even though his stats were good. We went to ER and they took him in right away and had him take an MRI within about 15 minutes. And the Dr. Read it or the techs did and said to get checkedout in MN after we hot home. They said he had 2 narrowing veins in his brain and that they didn't think he needed a stint, but to keep an eye on it. He said everyone about 70 would most likely have narrowing or some calcification in his veins. We got a CD and report to take home and we were on the next flight home. Everyone was nice- from the EMTS to the staff and drs. to Delta and ABC Motorhomes ! We had a wonderful trip outsideof his 2 911calls (yes, he had one 2 days before we left for our 50th Anniversary trip! PTL! Thankyou for all the help and of course Gods Blessing! ❤

I went in yesterday for a colonoscopy yesterday. There is no way to put a happy face on this procedure, but the Providence staff made it a lot easier. They were very professional and extremely friendly. A very unpleasant procedure was made much less uncomfortable by a pleasant staff.

My husband recently went to the ER.They left him out in the hallway and when the doctor said she was going to do something it never got done. The nurses were very unprofessional and rude. They acted like it was an inconvience that he came in. I know nothing will be done from these reviews but hopefully this will help others into making a decision to go else where for better health care.

Clean calm care when I had a bed bug infestation. They put me in a solitary confinement shower room wear I could shower and put my clothes in a plastic bag and they put my clothes through the 15 min bed bug steamer. Then gave me some medicine for my hair. They have a TV with remote in the emergency room. Sometimes the security guards would kick me out for trying to stay warm.

Everyone has different experiences, good and bad. Most recently mine have been good. (Competition with three area hospitals has done wonders for every medical center in Anchorage and the Valley. You can choose your medical center, not end up with one.)

I recently had brain surgery here. I was in for 4 days and they took care of me and I always had someone to check on me if I pushed the call button. The only thing I'm not happy about it that I asked the billing people several times to give me a call because I was moving out of state so I could give them my new address. It's been months and they haven't called yet. I've tried to pay bills online but it says I'm not in their records. So that's lame.

They could have helped me and everyone else if they cared.
