Having experienced multiple urgent care and ER visits for my kids, I’ve been impressed with their nice facilities, great providers, and caring staff. I also delivered at Mat-Su Regional in 2016 and had the greatest experience because of the caring staff.

Miranda Ferris

Worst place ever!!! Every provider in that ER is a joke!! They misdiagnosed and attempted to give me several doses of amoxicillin when I am HIGHLY ALLERGIC TO IT ANS HAVE BEEN FOR years!! This place is a joke.. if you feel like dying then this is the place for you. Megan Lindstrom is one of the worst providers there... ear bleeding for a week now and she didn’t even look inside my ear she just wanted to send me on my way!

Rachel Lukkari

I'm pretty disappointed. Rather than figure out what was wrong when I went in with immense pain, they just gave pain meds, did some typical labs and told me a bunch of different things it could be.. I didn't go in for you to tell me what I already know and cover it up! I went in to figure out what was wrong.

Jervece White

The staff was super slow and really seem to not care about patients. Didn't have answers to the simple questions I asked, didnt know anything about Red Cross and didnt try to find out. The service was so bad i got up and walked out. I couldnt drive to JBER Er because of the snow so now im stuck at home with no one to help care for me and im still in pain with no answers on my condition. I went to this er twice, the first time they were taking everyone to the back before me, even people that were fine, the second time I waited 6 hrs just come home and possible die in my sleep. My husband is terrified because theres nothing he can do due to him being away for the military. Horrible place.

I had a scheduled induction and birth at Matsu birthing center on 9/16/19 and had an outstanding experience. The facility is up to date and comfortable and staff was amazing in every way. My experience giving birth at Matsu was 100% better than past experiences at other hospitals. We’ve had 3 ER visits and my infant son had surgery performed at Matsu in 2016 and we’ve had a great experience every time. I highly recommend!

I HAVE BEEN IN THIS HOSPITAL 3 TIMES AND THEY DAMN NEAR KILLED ME!!! I HAVE A 4" PLATE IN MY LOWER BACK AND PINS IN MY NECK BECAUSE OF A FALL IN THIS HOSPITAL!! THE NURSE WAS TOLD BY MY DOCTOR NOT TO LEAVE ME ALONE BECAUSE I HAD NO MUSCLE CONTROL! THE NURSE LEFT ME ALONE AFTER TAKING ME TO THE RESTROOM, AND I FELL ON MY LOWER BACK AND HIT MY HEAD ON THE WALL!! I RUPTURED ONE DISK AND HERNIATED ANOTHER DISK WHICH CAUSED ME TO HAVE TO HAVE 2 MORE SURGERIES!! THEY CHANGED THEIR RECORDS AS NOT TO BE HELD RESPONSIBLE OR SUED FOR IT!!!!! THEY NEVER FOUND OUT THAT I WAS ALLERGIC TO LYRICA!!! I DID!!!! IT TOOK THEM 17 TRIES TO GET AN IV IN MY ARM!!!!!! THE HOSPITAL IS BEAUTIFUL BUT RAN BY A BUNCH OF IGNORANT IDIOTS!!!!!!!!!!!! IF YOU VALUE YOUR LIFE I WOULD NOT GO THERE!! I MADE THE AMBULANCE TAKE ME TO ALASKA REGIONAL FROM THEN ON! I WILL NEVER STEP FOOT IN MATSU REGIONAL HOSPITAL AKA AS ""DEATH VALLEY"" EVEN TO TAKE A DUMP!!!!

EarthExplorer

Horrible hospital. Nursing staff doesnt seem to care about doing thier job. It took 20 min for someone to come in after we pushed the call button every single time. Saw lots of nurses standing around and playing on thier phones. Unprofessional. The only people doing thier jobs where the room service staff who brought my dad his meals. I hope we never have to come here again

Working in healthcare for over 20 years and having worked all over the country, this hospital does want to care for it’s community and provide great care.

Don Mckeown

It's nick name is appropriate. Death valley!!! Do not go their any complaints go unanswered.. If I could give it a 0 that's what they would get.

Great with the ladies in the mamogram department, but the rest needs a lot of improvement. Like getting billing straight and ER needs to quit just pushing ppl through especially kids and really look.

My fiance have been in this hospital for years always been treated like was nothing wrong. After having a heart attack because of lack of care from doctors and nurses. We move her to Providence where they start to find numerous conditions that where never diagnosed..e move to lower 48 and have got great services. Now she is visiting family end up with one of the flair from her conditions end up in the hospital again to be treated like always. The lack of care and compassion in this hospital is completely out of this world never seen this type of services. Some of the nurses act like they are the king and they got all control. Cant wait to get her out and take her to a place that really care about their patients.

Fell down stairs and hurt myself pretty bad. Was seen for 4 minutes. Waited for a antibacterial ointment and that was it despite my pain. If you get a Dr named David Grove, RUN.

Tauvuranu

Humiliating treatment, dismissal of my chronic disease and failure to communicate my basic needs to a local pharmacy. Providence it is.

November 29th 2018 I had just finished my dinner and suddenly I felt the most excruciating pain in my abdomen. I ran for the bathroom sicked up and fell to the floor. My daughter called an ambulance and I was rushed to the ER. I was given a CT scan and told that my pain was likely a number of ailments. Then told I was a coke addict because my urinalysis came back positive. I told Dr. Thomas Quimby to run it again because the results were false. He sniped "not in my experience". Unreal! After we got home the earthquake hit and it was now Saturday so despite still feeling awful I waited till Monday trying the recommended doctors offices and everyone was closed. Tuesday I lost control of my bowels and bladder. My husband took me back to the ER. I was rushed into emergency surgery for a ruptured appendix with complications. My stay was 10 days 4 of which I was in a coma. I had 2 surgeries. My husband and 3 kids were so scared. Appendicitis wasn't even considered by a doctor that was too busy witch hunting for addicts.

I have had many negative experiences here but this last time we got the most caring er doctor I've ever had. Dr Coomes was really caring and sensitive to my needs. He was quick and efficient and discharged me immediately after the problem was resolved. I would go back just because of him!

Reddle3

I’ve been in and out of hospitals all my life. This is THE worst place I’ve ever been. The Dr’s and nurses don’t know how to treat or even take care of human beings! If you can avoid this death sentence, you should at ALL cost!

Dmitriy Pavlus

terrible service, doctor super rude ass , never again .

Matthew Jones

The surgery staff is great. The stay in the room was less than spectacular.

Elizabeth Kifer

I can't say enough great things about the ER staff. We rushed our son(16 months old) to the er after he fell holding a sippy cup and split his bottom lip wide open, the night before Christmas eve. Everyone was very professional and yet personable. They helped calm my nerves (I was a wreck seeing my poor baby boy covered in blood). They were so sweet with him. We left the hospital just a few short hours later after 5 stitches and a new teddy bear and blanket given to us by the nurse. Hopefully we never have to go back (I'm sure we will with this fearless little one) but if we do I know we will be in good hands. Thank you for your care of my family!

Caring nurses, phlebotomists, staff. Quiet enough to recuperate. Location great too!

I never thought I would find myself in the emergency room at Mat-Su Regional, but when a small bone chip lodged itself in my left knee and I was in excruciating pain, not knowing why, my husband drove the almost 2 hour trek in the middle of the night to find an answer and relief for my pain. The entire staff was outstanding along two lines, friendliness and professionalism. The doctor I saw was Anne Zink who was prompt, concerned and quickly discovered my trouble. She provided outstanding care complete with written, detailed instructions and referrals for further help I needed. The x-ray techs were super professional and again, quite personable. The woman who checked us out as we were leaving was of great help to us also. I do not wish to go into details about that but will say she had our best interest in mind and provided a great service for us in both a professional and friendly manner. This is not to mention others who registered our arrival, helped with crutches, explained medications, everyone was exceptional. Thank you Mat-Su Regional ED.

Love this hospital, had 3 babies here and would go back again. The care is great, everyone cares about you,I felt like at home. Thank you to all the doctors, nurses and all staff who works here.

Oh The Things You Might See by amanda brothers

Took my daughter in cause she hurt her shoulder and the dr was horrible to her. She hurt and the dr dident care and acted like she was lying. He had her in tears. Dr's are supposed to care for their patients not make things worse

Spent 5ish days in the Mat-su Regional ER after a mental health incident. Didn't have a terrible time. The staff was extremely friendly and we're constantly asking if I needed anything. Food was solid (get the egg sandwich for breakfast and the Tenders for lunch/dinner.) Atleast twice they took my vitals (BP/temp/pulse) without waking me up. PROS: -Good Food. -Friendly staff. -Warm Showers. -Heated Blankets CONS: -Dull crayons.

Go to providence for care, my recent visit was my only good experience, hence the 2 stars. The other times I was treated horribly, made wait several hours, nurse couldn't draw blood properly, and I was told that while in care from my boyfriend that while he was in the lobby the doctor came out and was discussing my issues with another nurse. He over heard the doctor saying he was going to leave me in the room for a few hours to see if I died or not. Receptionists are HORRIBLE and i hope that qith all the lawsuits people have put against them, they start to make some changes.

Danny Noland

Had to go in to the emergency room last night walked in and from the get go even though I couldn’t speak (allergic reaction) the staff was extremely courteous and professional, the nurses were awesome and the doctor who looked too young or I’m getting to old (lol) probably the latter was very knowledgeable, hit me with some lifesaving drugs and out of there 3.5 hours later. Crazy... just wanted to say thanks To all there experience was almost fun! Woke up with quite a hangover though without the party??

My husband went to the urgent care last weekend, and he was seen within minutes! Quick to get x-rays, follow-up from the provider, and discharged promptly. Thanks Matsu!

Saturday 5/12/18 our 11 month old daughter came down with an ear infection. By Sunday morning it had spread to both ears so we decided she needed to go in to the ER. We left home at 9:30am and were seen at this Emergency Room. By 11am we were back home. The doctor was a bit brief but the nurses were amazing! This hospital has really stepped up their game and we appreciate it. We are also self pay and don’t carry normal insurance. We got a 65% discount off the bill for paying same day and for not having insurance. Thank you!

Drive the hour to Anchorage to go to Providence!!!! Took our 3 year old son here for stitches. Had to wait for hours to give him the stitches. They kept saying they would return in 20 minutes then it would be over an hour. Dr had no one to help him so we had to hand him tools and hold something near our sons eye so he wouldn’t poke it. Very poor service. Also had troubles with billing which we are still dealing with. Will never go back we’ve had too many bad experiences here!

Spent the evening in the ER getting my little girl stitches from a fall. Staff we so caring, checking on us frequently, the doctors (Zink and Lindstrom) were amazing with her, and the other patients kept checking on her. It was an amazing experience I won’t forget because of the compassion from the hospital and other patients. Thanks for being there when we needed you!

Christina Rackard

Out of 4 stays in this hospital I finally felt like some one.I was on MED-SURG and everyone there was wonderful, I didn't have to wait over an hour to go to bathroom like on the other floors. Every nurse and down to the people that cleaned and ones that brought the food was wonderful. I was there June 2017

Kerri Gillum

I delivered two babies at Mat Su Regional and it was a fantastic experience!! Thank you to all of the exceptional staff that cared for us from the nurses, house keepers, lab, imaging, admissions, food service and more! Also a huge thank you to my midwife, Meg, from Mat Su Womens Health.

Michelle Pylant

I had to go to the Matsu Regional ER 3 days ago & was pleasantly surprised with the spectacular care I received. All of the staff were diligent & kind. Dr. Delduca was thorough when it came to examining what was wrong with me & did necessary tests until we got to the root of the problem. Thank you Matsu Regional! I feel alive again!

I'm from out of state, was having back issues. The staff there took the time to diagnosed my case. And carefully explained my situation.. They were very compassionate and explained all my options.. Would highly recommend Mat-Su Regional Medical center.

Awesome service! Physicians, staff and volunteers are the best I have ever experienced. Would trust this facility with all of my family medical needs

First off let me tell you that they saved my wife’s life. I have seen some of the negative reviews and let me tell you this. My wife had been to two other ED departments before going to Matsu. My wife would not be here today if it wasn’t for their amazing staff and doctors. Their ED department and ICU are top notch , the nursing staff are amazing. I have spent the last 17 years of my life traveling all over the world and this is the best hospital I have ever had my family treated at and I will forever be in their debt.

I don’t do reviews, I’m only doing this to hope these complaints are addressed. We walked up to the checkin at 7:45pn with one other patient waiting in the waiting area. We waited 15 min and watched three other patients that checked in after us get taken back. The entire time I saw three different staff look at us from around a corner window to the left of the checkin desk. This made me feel that night staff were both unprofessional and uncaring. Their looks were perceived as gawking, leering and I definitely saw head shakes. A nurse or staff came out looked at us turned to the receptionist and said something, the receptionist then snickered. The staff walked back into the receiving area. I think there were assumptions made about what was happening. I walked to the receptionist and told her we were going to providence, she said “yeah OK”. I had enough & went to Providence, a more caring and professional ER intake staff. It’s 40 minutes away driving the speed limit. We spent 2 minutes checking in at Prov and were taken back immediately. Read the reviews, this hospital used to be a great hospital that served the community. It would appear the leadership is lacking, the training in compassion and customer service is lacking and professionalism is not necessary. I’ve seen this attitude in other businesses that have no competition and will go elsewhere if at all possible.

JustDanAH

An excellent team of healthcare professionals are the spirit of Mat-Su Regional Medical Center. My family and I appreciate the great care the team provided to us during our time of need and all of the staff had such an awesome attitude that made us comfortable and an overall great experience.

Hospital is great the people running it not so much

Edit: after the birth of our child, I can say the Birthing Center and Maternal Medicine section of this hospital might as well be an entirely separate organization. Very pleasant experience with them. Raised my review a whole star, and they're only a small percentage of the hospital. The nursing staff overall are pretty pleasant. The bureaucratic trickle down effect however, is obnoxious. My wife was in the ER for a relatively simple check to make sure she wasn't having any life threatening symptoms after a scare; also to make sure her baby (8.5 months) did not have any problems. They did not. I should preface by saying we had already spent 4 hours in what was supposed to be a 30 min visit due to understaffing. Anyways, the doctor requested a room to keep us overnight, and after a 5 hour progression of "we have a room", to "we think we have a room", to "we have rooms, but they're being assigned still", to "i don't know when we'll get you a room, we have been stuck in a corner secluded only by cloth curtains, and surrounded by loud staff and patients. It is no surprise our patience for the other patients at 3 in the morning after being up for 23 hours was at a minimum. But to have to sit in the area we were in for 5-6 hours when rooms were available, all because someone couldn't pick up a phone or print a piece of paper, (and for what I'm sure was $2000.00 billed), is absolutely asinine. So far, only impressed by about 3 of the staff at this establishment. Sad.

Go to Anchorage for care!

ER is great, I've never had an issue, and never had to wait longer than a few minutes to be seen. Check-in/Billing is tedious, especially when nothing had changed in years that needed to be reported. They still had to ask the same questions over and over. I utilized their lab during off hours, and check-in is in the ER after hours (5pm!). This worked well for a while, but the ER is very obviously not helpful with checking in with the lab draws. I waited 2 hours one time for just a lab draw because of ER triage and the ungodly long check-in process. I must say though, they are fast....it's just a long process. I stopped using their lab when I found out I can have the same tests done in 10 minutes at Quest. Sadly though, my midnight blood draws are over. I had surgery here! It turned out well. The doctor was a total jerk, but if you bring someone with you, they turn into saints. (Just a helpful tip). Being closest to me, I go there in an emergency, but generally, their doctors are rude, with bedside manner issues. Ortho? Forget it! They're complete #$&holes. I don't know why? I think that they think they are God or something. I had a terrible experience with a urologist there, he was SO rude I almost walked out. He obviously didn't like anyone that was "un-pure". I was chastised for decisions I made in my life 25 YEARS AGO! Completely and utterly rude. Ears Nose Throat doc was awesome though! It's hit or miss there... Glad to see they partnered with Mayo tho! The clinic, not the condiment. d;-)

Delivered my son there and had an amazing experience. Everyone was wonderful from the on call OB to the nurses who tirelessly provided support as well as the wait staff and janitorial. All around a fantastic place to be.

Devon Starr

Most horible medical staff i have ever seen. Why are alaskans in the dark ages when it comes to medical care?

Robin Minard

The team at Mat-Su Regional Medical Center is really dedicated to serving our community. It's pretty special knowing you can get high-quality health care delivered by people who are literally your neighbors. The hospital has grown so much that there really is no reason to have to go to Anchorage anymore. We're lucky to have this asset in our community!

Cindy Allen Judd

I spent a week in the hospital after a trip to the emergency room. I received great care from the whole staff. Everyone was very caring and professional. Kudos to all and my deepest gratitude. Nancy Nephew

This is a well respected and speedy Hospital and ER. My family and I receive great service here.

Gino Kuang

they lie about everything. They try to make you get unnecessary bloodwork. I give them one star because that was the lowest!! Horrible hospital and liars!!! If you have to wait three hours it's not a emergency room!!! Taking advantage of poor sick people is the lowest you can go!! Absolutely disgusted!!

ROBIN TURK

My husband recently had emergency surgery (appendicitis) and this has been the best hospital experience we've ever had. Much better than Anchorage's Regional and Providence hospitals. Mat-Su's nursing & CNA staff are top notch and even the housekeeping and cafeteria workers were pleasant and friendly.

thaddeus muetz

Nurse's It took them over 30mins to get to me every time I pressed the button when I was in severe pain and took longer to get me my pain medal. They were supposed to check on me every hour and they never did

WIlliam Briscoe

Absolutely awful experience which is obviously designed to maximize how much they can cheat you out of rather than providing the care which you need. Seriously, these people will stall and delay as much as they can to ensure that you stay in the emergency room long enough to hit their highest tier of charges, bill your insurance, then send you to collections for the rest (I went in with something which should have only taken an hour, they stalled me to 4 hours, and billed me 8 grand); worst part of it? they didn't actually resolve ANYTHING!!!! When I received my bill, I called an explained this to their billing department who had me speak to one of the doctors. By his own admission, in his opinion, I did not recieve the "quality of care" which I should have received and in his opinion, my bill should have been adjusted accordingly. I told the billing department this, they told me the person who handles this is on vacation and will call me back when they get back, and next thing I know, I get a letter threatening to send me to collections. In order to protect my credit, I reluctantly agreed to pay installments on the full absurd amount (prior to the deadline that their nastygram gave me). Immediately following payment of the installment (agreed to by matsu), on time, they sent me to collections anyways. All this trouble and overbilling for an issue which their staff was too incompetent to deal with, both on the care and the billing side. I would strongly suggest that anyone suffering a health issue go into Anchorage rather than Matsu. Seriously, if you are not critical , seek other care providers nearby (and if you are critical, I'm sorry, but you're probably SOL).

If I could give less than one star I would! Horrible treatment and services. The technician that checked me in had a bad attitude- asking me rhetorical questions instead of kindly informing me of useful health information based on her experience and knowledge. Was complaining to me about how many patients were coming in because they were almost closed. The doctor was no different- Dr Scott Peterson was pompous and disrespectful. Spoke to me rudely and sarcastically instead of professionally providing me with medical services and information. Spoke to me like I was an idiot- as if medical treatment and injuries are common knowledge. I refused their services after the way I was treated and decided to walk out, to which Dr Peterson rudely responded "Okay- we're closed anyways." Unbelievable and uncalled for lack of professionalism.

Dustin Bartel

I thank all the nurse and the doctors who helped I came thinking it was a minor problem turned out not to be so and they took care of me and got me on a path to getting better I thank them so much.

Klye Boots

I went to Mat-Su Regional after I crash landed on some ice and fractured my wrist. It only took a few minutes to check in and I was taken to a treatment room immediately. The doctor, nurses and x-ray tech were great. The facility was super clean. The support staff was also very helpful and friendly. It was a terrific hospital experience--and my wrist is doing great now.

Ada Velasquez

I have had the very best treatment at this hospital. They are quick and thorough and treated me with much kindness.

Deena Straub

Love our ER, great care for a scary symptom. Dr Lindstrom was awesome.

Andy Clouse

Real unhappy people here, I think they take it out on their patients also. The staff, every time I come here, treat everyone as if they are a waste of their time. Bunch of grumps. If you hate your job that much, quit. Here for almost three hours to get a physical. Will not be back.

James Bunch

My wife went in to the OR for a procedure and it was very stressful. The staff there were so empathetic and caring. We couldn’t have asked for better care. I would trust them with my family any time.

Nina J Gress

Just wonderful staff, especially the nurses. Thank you

Brianna flanigan

The entire Health Care team at the birthing center is amazing. They took such good care of me during my entire experience and stay. I would recommend them to anyone. You don't feel like they are just doing their job because they have too but instead because they care. Everyone has their own area of expertise and fills it well. I feel lucky to have been under their care.

Teresa Cato

I was at the hospital for 18 days and was treated with great care and absolutely wonderful people!!! If it weren't for them, I wouldn't be here today. Thank you!!

Kristin Elieff

My dad had surgery here last week and the staff was amazing! They answered all our questions, kept us informed on progress every hour and basically made us feel like he was the only one in the hospital. He was in the hospital 3.5 days and was treated with respect and kindness, in addition to receiving excellent care. I am so grateful that we have this calliber of care in the Valley. Thank you Lisa, Marilyn, and Dawn!! <3

Horrible service. Not taking care or gravely disable vulnerable adult.

Petra Johnson

I had hip surgery here a few months ago and the whole experience was incredibly good. All the nurses, doctors and other staff members worked together as a team and were helpful with anything I might need. Shout out to my pre op nurse Renee and my post op nurse Nancy who were both great.

K. C-D.

I have had no problems here since the new hospital has been built. My only concern is that they seem to be militant about breastfeeding. Not one hundred percent of women can breastfeed, and well it should certainly be supported as a choice, the mothers who cannot or who do not wish to breastfeed should not be enforced to do so. The attached sign was in the x-ray department. Only medically indicated babies should receive formula? A mother should be allowed to decide what she wants to do and that should be between her and her doctor and the hospital should be able to help her carry through on that decision. Perhaps number two should read that "staff is trained to implement **and enforce** this policy."

Blake Stuker

Always rude, none of the nurses seem to enjoy their job. Very short staffed ALWAYS it seems like. Labor and Delivery will call you to see if you would like to be induced sooner and then not get you in (why offer something as serious as a birth when you have no staff to do so) My wife is a week past her due date amd we have had nothing but problems with those people and they dont really care. Dont deliver your child there or anywhere in alaska with an exception of Providence in anchorage.

paul compton

horrible staff, i got there 30 seconds after my kid goes in for a x ray and was told i would have to wait...i was on the phone with my wife in the parking lot, and sometime between hanging up and walking in they went back and I was informed I would have to wait....so upset at the women who acted annoyed I broke up the dang gossip gang...she slams window and goes back to cackling with the many women doing nothing....only go if you are dying, change that...go to anchorage to a better hospital!!!

Candi Garrett

Igor Ch

Very unprofessional conduct of night emergency staff. Mocking patients behind their backs and making unacceptable comments about their condition. Would not recommend this facility to anyone!

The doctor that treated my brother should and will be SUED the staff do not care about there jobs or treating the sick with respect .My brother was sent home without treatment only to stop breathing after his wife drove him home .I just home the hospital has DEEP pockets for the lawsuit that is being filed
