I've been lied to ignored and neglected by them!!!

Jenny Hill

This place is a joke!!! They must’ve found their staff from a cracker jacks box, there’s no communication between staff about the patient, the care is horrible!!Unfortantly I had to take a family member there and it was the worst experience ever!! And have 2 more weeks to go for this nightmare!! Actually no star is deserved!!

Rooney Ann Fields

Amazing display of native craft. Well worth a visit

Amy R George

Great hospital and employees!

Jim Kelly

I'm not allowed to say what I don't like. However if you're native, Native American, you'll like the treatment from the excellent nursing staff. The food for patients when you're back to solid foods is excellent and arrives hot. There's housing and transportation and other things that make your stay better.

Kristian Carter

Terrible service. I watched somebody overdose on meth and they did nothing to help. Needs a serious overhaul so far as staffing, management, and service are concerned.

It's ok if not for running into people I'd rather not see

Kevin Penix

Yes it does take time so do the regular hospital but good care

I had my first child here at 16, didn't realize how bad the experience was until later when sharing my labor and delivery story. Most women can't believe how I was treated, I thought it was normal, it wasn't. They made me strip down to nothing saying they would come off anyway. They refused to give me anything for pain, I was allowed naproxen, something I could've bought at the drug store. I had Nexplanon implanted in my arm, its supposed to be there 3 years, great. I bled for 3 months straight, would go through 2 super tampons in an hour. Doubled over in pain, felt like someone was stabbing me. Doctor said it was normal, don't worry about it. I spent a lot of time in the ladies room in pain, and unable to do my job. The doctor was angry with me but I told her I would rather her take it out before they have to scoop out the parts of me that make me a woman. She was angry, and talked down to me. I was diagnosed with a treatable disease and the nurses were by the door talking about me like I wasn't a person. I've met a lot of good nurses and doctors here, they don't stay that way. I'm not sure if it's my age or my race they find so deplorable. As a patient I was left with very little dignity and treated with very little respect. There is a lot that they aren't teaching these people they let loose to care for people who seem to need it the most. 1/17/18 Still as unreliable an not helpful as they've always been. No one could tell me if they were in the network, passed around to 4 different people. I was going to get his referral sent over but the lady in internal medicine told me he would have to be seen in pediatrics before they would see him. He was seen by pediatrics on base that's how we got the referral.

The care is great. The food in the cafeteria is not bad and not really expensive. The gift shop has the best variety of native art so some is affordable but all is nice. The phone systems needs work. You end up being passed around a lot. The shuttle schedule is so confusing that the employees often give the wrong time. If you can double check. The is a schedule on the wall by the main entrance.

This us a hospital for Alaska Natives and not open to the general public. If you are looking for authentic Alaska Native handicrafts, the hospital gift store is one of the best places in the state to find a variety of items that are from around the state and the artists are fairly reimbursed for their work.

Brought my daughter in for sharp pains in her side at 5AM, and it’s now 9:10AM and still sitting here. The only thing that has been done in the past four hours is a blood draw and ultrasound! FOUR HOURS and that’s it. No updates, no water, no food, but just sitting and waiting for god knows what. Lesson learned...I’ll go a hospital that TREATS and not Seats! However the staff is friendly

I was driving and had a severe asthma attack. Pulled over into their parking lot, could barely breath. Woman at check in says "well....are you native???" WHO CARES, I CAN'T BREATHE! Wouldn't help me when I was clearly about to pass out. I barely made it to a place that could help. Some hospital!

I have been to ANMC quite a bit lately and have always found the level of respect and care very good. I have learned you want to use the cafeteria on the patient housing side as they change the menu between lunch and dinner and the food is better and the place is very pleasant to the eyes. The only bad experience I had was when I ended up in emergency fighting for my life during a severe exacerbation attack. I felt I was in the middle of a war zone as emergency was filled with drunks yelling and screaming and taking doctors time away from people that really need it. Don't get me wrong we need to take care of them to until some day they learn to take care of themselves. So I am asking ANMC to think about building on to Emergency so they have a place to take care of the drunks with out affecting people that are dying or fighting for their lives or just in need of emergency care. I never made it to a room because the hospital was full so I was transferred to Elmendorf Air Force Base hospital where I had an army by my bed side that was an experience I won't soon forget. ANMC is rated at number 2 hospital in the state, if they take care of separating the drunks from emergency patients that need the calm in their struggles there is no reason ANMC could not rise to number 1 hospital in the state.

Check out the amazing Native art. No need to be or know a patient to go. Take the elevator to the 5th floor and walk down and you will see a phenomenal collection.

it helped my only son.

I end up here from time to time even hospitalized but always helpful to me but in cafeteria found hair on the food

Try to get a dental appointment is a nightmare. To long a wait to try and get braces put on my child. A year wait. I go to a private orthodontist to get braces. The orthodontist puts braces on my child. Orthodontist sends a referral to ANMC to have teeth removed. A week later three phones calls to get an appointment. What do we get, please be patient. With this type of service you would better off given vouchers to your patients.

My mother was brought in by ambulance and they put her in Trauma room 2 then she was move to the hallway with other patients who were stuck out in the hall way to block the entry way when or if they needed to bring patients in who are severely injured or ill. She was just told they were going to move her to another room in the ER area because they need to have the bays open for traumas I could understand that but to move her to the hallway right outside the trauma room she was just in is not right and to have other patients having to do the same and the cma/nurse/tech or doctor who has to come and ask questions to any of the patients laying on a bed in the hallway or check the patient in the hallway is not right. What ever happened to HIPPA laws patient privacy? There seems to be to much focus on who knows who and do you know who I am that patient care is failing here. It should not matter who the person knows, employees work hard and follow the policies that the hospital has this should be a reminder to anyone and everyone so no one has to be shoved into a hallway or pushed aside because someone knows someone and patient care discussed in a hallway with other patients who are in the same situation. The ER needs more space for patients who come in to be seen. And then maybe the providers won’t be rude or short with family members who feel this just isn’t right.

Horrible, racist service. All the staff are rude and apathetic. If you are Native, and have private insurance, go down the street to Providence for medical and down the street to Mint for dental.

So I received a call from my daughter, she is at the emergency room. In the waiting room she faints lands on her face. She send me a photo of her bruised face. I ask 3 "nurses" if I can see her. I'm told just ask her, ask her. I get to the 3rd one. No one is waiting. She asked for the next patient. There wasn't one, I step forward and ask to see my daughter. She says "just wait" she then proceeded to speak to I don't know who, other nurses. By this time patients have come in and I wait behind them, Again I am in the front with no one behind me. She ignores me and act like I'm not there. I had to walk into triage and request to see my daughter for the 4th time!!!

The staff are very rude and do discriminate no matter what you tell them once they have a idea of you and they DONT like you they abuse their power I'm dieing from kidney and heart failure and just cause I'm native they tried asking me for a breathalyzer thing after I said four times and was still made to take it before further service "I do not drink or do drugs." Never felt so low and disrespected in my life not all of them they do have some good people like Robin Basit if I am spelling that right awesome case manager

Cafeteria sucks. Expensive for such cheap quality. Some entrees are cold. The clinics are great but the cafeteria. For shame. First of all I was told that with the newly momma I would get one free meal with her. Room service asked for my card number. Told them goodbye because I had cash, they don't take cash. Went downstairs to get myself food cause I was frustrated with room service. I had eggs among other things and the eggs were kinda cold. So if I would I would get my money back. Shaking my head rapidly. For shame for shame. Advice to the cafeteria director or what he or she wants to call it. Heat and improve your food and lower your costs there are hungry patients, visitors, and guests. Make this part of the hospital not a profitable wallet.

Thank you for your fast service, my child was sick, he was in and out so quick, he didn't have time to balk at being checked. I'm very impressed with your staff and the quick thorough service we received!

I've had a heart procedure and chemo therapy with and through ANMC. Each time the staff and medical providers have been warm and professional . They remember who are as a patient each time and greet you by name. They have eased my fears and bless the creator kept me alive with their prompt and aggressive care. I've been truly blessed. Thank you !

For being a hospital and having a phobia of hospitals. I was welcomed, greeting with a pleasant smile and seen very quickly. I was amazed at the staff at this hospital outstanding customer care. Dr. Owens was absolutely wonderful, He comfortered me as I was so nervous and went the extra mile to show me i was too worried. We need more doctors like this out there. That truly care and take the time for the patients. I do recommend this place even if your white.

I am thrilled that A.N.M.C. has an internet access to my medical. I can check my records and upcoming events. A.N.M.C. has many avenues to help individuals toward total and I mean total wellness with mental, emotional, physical, and dare I say, spiritual health? I look forward towards accessing the gym, getting my teeth cleaned, talking to cultural elders, attending the free clinics, and even times when singers come into the common areas and sing. Now I know I can talk a good talk, I just hope I can walk the walk to health of mind, body, and spirit. It's in my head for now and later; I am hoping my steps will follow. I really encourage natives from all over Alaska to take the time to see what there is all to offer at the hospital. South Central Foundation has many free things to do if you want to quit smoking, they have that, if you want help with alcoholism, they have that. If certain behaviors are negatively affecting your career, family & social life, they have help for that also. They have customer service representatives and I really like the respect and courtesy of the medical & clinical staff at ANMC & Primary Care. Keep up the swell job. It is really good to see professional & sympathetic employees working in and around natives of Alaska seeking assistance. What's the cost of "free for us" health care? Time, travel, sprucing up a bit to smile? So let's continue to make A.N.M.C. a place of refuge for all our people.

So for we'll over a year this place had been trying to charge me for a bill saying my son was there they have no record of my driver's license or ss# but they have my address and name. Claiming I owe over 1000$. Not only that but when I after 6 months of trying to get this figured out I finally get transferred to lady in charge of finance she said to fix this I need to do certain things well I tried to do these things and needed help I tried to get a hold of her I leave voice mails and emails and guess what NO REPLY!

My 63 year old native boyfriend with a pacemaker is in Alaska Regional Hospital with sepsis from a urinary tract infection. ANMC failed to recognize that he was in danger of the fact that he had a deadly blood infection on 3 separate visits to the emergency room. The 4th time was by ambulance and he was sent to Alaska Regional instead, thank God because it saved his life. I am sorry to say that I will be going to ANMC in the future because I am native also, but I will not be able to trust my life in their hands

this hospital has misdiagnosed me and now im limited on time of life, im currently seeking an attorney. staff of anmc does not care about the damage they have caused, to too many of our people, also why is there only native doctors only in traditional healing?

We were here to visit the Gift shop and view the Alaska Native ivory carvings. Many excellent pieces. Please note they only take cash or check and do not take credit cards or debit cards.

I contracted bedbugs from their emergency room. It cost me 2,000 dollars for pesticide removal, over 4 weeks to get rid of them in my home. They need to do something to prevent further infestations to other patients.

The dental office sux, every time they worked on my teeth, they'd be in excruciating pain after the numbing went away .. they'd do a job as such that the tooth around the filling would erode so that I'd have to go back in. I also disliked the fact that one of the OBGYN doctors really tried to push a DTAP vaccine on me WHILE I was pregnant!!! She was so adamant about it that I ALMOST gave in! I'm glad I got my head outa the cloud that she put me in... Otherwise we'd probably be really sick and very dependant on their care, after all.. that's what they want! Now that I have insurance, I can look elsewhere for my care... I think there'd a lot of hidden racism among the staff there & that's why they choose to work there... It's a really nice hospital, but the care is what you gotta be very careful about...

Gerianne Thorsness

My children have been privileged to use the Native Medical Center and the clinics. Both have had health complications since birth. We are their adoptive parents. I worked at Providence for 16 years. The service we have consistently received has been far superior to the care we have received in the private sector. The communication between inpatient and outpatient physicians has been very helpful and I believe we have had shorter hospital stays because of it. The front line admissions staff is so well trained and courteous AND if the make a mistake they apologize and make an effort to correct the situation. I continue to be impressed. Well done!

Post-surgical pain control is seriously lacking when compared to other hospitals. Otherwise, the services provided are superior.

Google User907

I'd give this a ZERO if I were able to! I'm in the labor and delivery STILL WAITING to be seen by a midwife since 1:00am with the most painful contractions five minutes apart! Another patient JUST came in, got seen right away & im still left here in my room in excruciating pain, I got my cervix checked & was measuring at 5cm and the nurse tried sending me back to my hotel and telling me just to come back in two hours to be seen because the midwife was "busy" but I have to wait for her to "lay her eyes on me" in order to even get discharged. On top of that the rude receptionist wouldn't even buzz me into triage to sign in instead she had the nerve to ask who I was here to visit. I hate this hospital and I hope to NEVER return here again the staff are rude and obnoxious & treat the native patients like crap once they figure out insurance is paying for the lodging and meals. I can't even get a complaint put through because it just stops at the nurses station and ends up just being gossiped about and turned into a total joke for their entertainment.

A great place to die.

My family (2 kids, wife) receives their medical care here. We have experienced a couple late night emergency room visits, regular pediatrician visits, and had our two babies delivered here. The medical care has been top notch the entire time. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend the services at ANMC and SCF.

Dominic Salvato

Trying unfortunately isn't succeeding......Parental in it's methods. When one is in pain, it can lead to rash comments. They care more about my health than I do.

sammy jean

Everything is working out to my standards. I appreciate everything they do.. especially my nurse Chris. He the best by far, although I can forget my man Boris. Now those are some very trustful men to be at your bedside helping! Keep it up is all I say ;-)

Michaelann Jackson

I came here as a travel OR nurse and I was only going to be here 3 months. It has now been 9 months and I love it here. The people are great to work with. The job, pay and overtime are perfect for me. I would highly recommend working at this hospital in the OR.

Took my kid to the ER and it was packed with people who had conditions that where better suited for a primary care physician and so forth. The amount of people that where there for alcohol related issues was mind boggling. It seems like this hospital needs a serious financial/medical audit.

Craig Logusak

The care is alright but if you’re traveling with Medicaid make sure that you do everything yourself even though they tell you “they’ll let you know when your travel is.” My wife and newborn baby are currently stuck because of ANMC Travel Management. They not once gave her a call about her travel arrangements so she’s been sitting in the Quyana House Lounge since this morning with no where to go because she missed a flight that she didn’t even know about.

Michelle Waskey

I have always hated going to this hospital. They have crappy service. They always say they are going to help and nothing ever gets done. If I had better options I would take them.

I'd give a 1 if hadn't had good service before. So I have a seizure and go to the ER, four hours later I'm livid and leave. Who knew being drunk n puking are more important that your brain overheating. Thanks for nothing

Sonya Vaughn

I have been so thankful for the care my children and I have received at ANMC. Everyone has always been courteous and helpful and I feel that they really listen to my questions and concerns. With four children, we have been to the ER, Maternity, Chiropractic, Pediatrics, Radiology, Pharmacy, Dental, Optometry, and regular check ups. We've done it all and I can think of no complaints. Yes, sometimes it takes a while to get an appointment sometimes, but it has never seemed to be a ridiculously long wait.

The doctors and nurses are capable and qualified. But for some reason the front desk staff doesn't believe a patient deserves the basic courtesy and respect of looking at you while speaking to you. They all hide behind monitors and speak in fragmented sentences. So you just sit there looking at the back of a monitor. What happens if a patient has a hearing impairment? What a shame.
