My barber (Candice) is excellent. I've long considered my hair a lost cause and always just buzzed it short because I thought there's nothing that could be done with it. Candice took the project and ran with it. We're at a spot now where I don't even tell her what I want to do with it. I just sit down in the chair, she works her magic, and I leave looking fly. In all seriousness, this place is excellent. Admittedly a bit pricey, but well worth the pennies.

In 2011, I purchased a Groupon to come here. Little did I know that my hair was a classic disaster due to my use of different boxed hair dyes (think 4 layered rows). Charlie helped me understand the science behind hair and showed true care in its recovery. Four years later, I went from corrective color to bleach blonde, maintaining with root touchup and deep conditioning, then a process of brown lowlights to overall dark brown. My girl (also manager) Amanda is a miracle worker and the entire staff is amazing. I have been a loyal customer since, even for simple trims, and feel like I'm walking into my second home.

I would definitely recommend Charlie's. I'm a guy and my hair is extremely thick, and there are very few different ways to cut and/or style my hair. I get it cut by Charlie himself, and the first time there he was explaining to me what all options I have with my type of hair. Before he even started working on it he was explaining all of that to me, and it was clear he really knows what he's doing.

Worst balayage I have ever gotten. My hair looked horrible. To make it worst... she styled it so I couldn't tell how unblended it was. Not worth $230 bucks. This is my before pic from a different salon who ended up fixing my hair. Who lets their client leave with their hair looking like this? Update: it has nothing to do with the color. It is how unblended it was.. do you see the straight line across the back on my head. Is that how you are saying a balayage is supposed to look? Literally everyone that saw my hair said it looked horrible.

Sherry did the most amazing job with my body wave!!! I had a disaster perm about 3 years ago, so i was a little scared to get another perm. Sherry knew exactly what to do and my perm came out perfect with NO damage or fried ends!!!! That rarely happens. I have long, thin hair so usually the ends are destroyed, but she took her time and ensured my hair was perfect. I am so happy. Ladies, if you need a little body for your hair, get a body perm from Sherry!!!! Thanks again.

She cut my hair to the length and fade I like which can be hard to find. I am growing my beard and just had her shave the scruff on my neck and cheeks and she did it perfectly. Probably the worst "salon" I've ever been to. I went in for a trim and balayage and not pleased at all with the outcome. She had to rush through the cut, the coloring took forever, wasn't even what I wanted (I don't think she knows what balayage is), and my hair felt really disgusting after. The place charges high end prices and is just a step up from a super cuts. My "stylist" didn't have the experience for what I wanted done to my hair and she left dye on my face and hairline. I've had my hair done a lot and never have been this disappointed. I would never go back and would never recommend someone!

Do Not go here. Not all of the hairstylist are experienced. One had no idea what she was doing; had to get another stylist to cut my hair. Took 3 hours for cut and highlight-appauling. Purchased a voucher online, then they charged me $10 Extra dollars at the door! Watch out-false advertising! 'Charlie' was not pleasant in customer service. I Do Not recommend this business to anyone.

I went to Charlie's East Coast Hair Designs and received a hair service from Krystle. After reading so many great reviews, I decided to give her a try. My expectations were definitely exceeded. She was professional, personable, and talented. The rest of the staff was friendly as well. I was received warmly by the front desk staff as I filled out a first time customer survey about my hair. The inside is sheik, up to date, and is fully equip for lots of different services. Krystle is my new go to gal.

I found Charlie's through a Groupon several years ago, and have been returning ever since. The girls that do nails are artists with attention to detail. They ask what you are looking for and after getting to know you will make suggestions as to what or how you can change it up. I've gotten gifts from others of mani/Pedi's but I have to say no one comes close to the job the people here do. 1/23/16 unfortunately after the previous review I've had a number of other techs, after the ones that I had used all seemed to have moved on. The experiences haven't been as good as previously, and after my last I believe I will be moving on.

My spray tan was great- Katie is just the best- she is great with HAIR and great with a spray tan- my hands were a little funky(dark) so next time I will lotion the palms or wipe them down better but it was a great tan- lasted almost 2 weeks and the new tanning room is amazing- really nice! I used a Groupon for a haircut and color; I thought I would try some place new for a change with my sister. I was very pleased with how friendly the staff was when I first arrived, we were greeted by almost everyone in the salon. While it does say in the description that there is an extra charge for longer hair, I was not told about the charge until I was already in the chair and had discussed what I wanted done with my hair therefore I was kind of stuck in the situation. I also thought the extra charge for color was a little steep. I also feel as if the hairdressers talked to each other quite a bit while working on my hair, and had conversations that I didn't find appropriate. I really like how my hair was cut, but am not a fan of the color. I do not think I will be going back to this salon in the future.

I called last week to make an appointment and was told I would get a call back because the person who sets up the appointments was in a meeting. Four days later and no call back. I just called again and was put on hold by a woman; about 10 seconds later a guy answers (extremely unfriendly tone throughout the conversation)"hello" I said hello I would like to make 2 appointments for a mani-pedi and we both have a groupon. I was told that "it's not gonna happen, we don't do group appointments and each of us would have to call back separately". I told him I already called and was told I would get a call back and never did. His reply again was "it's not gonna happen". First of all, I am shocked by the way I was spoken to and am surprised you are even in business if this is the way you treat customers! It makes no sense that I am not able to make an appointment for my spouse and I. I will be sure to spread the word of how horrible your customer service is. Secondly, I have cancelled my groupon and will take my business to someone that will appreciate it! To the man I spoke to, you really should look into taking a customer service skills course because you truly suck at it!

I have been going to Katie for my hair for a few years now and she has always been fantastic! I even tried a new ombre this last time and it turned out phenomenal! I wear my hair straight every other day so I was worried about a line showing but she blended it perfectly. She has even created custom colors for me in the past and I've gotten so many compliments on my hair every time she has done it. I have also gotten my nails done there multiple times by a few different techs and they have all been great. I recently had an issue with my shellac peeling off 1 week after getting it (due to a muddy kickball game) and they fixed it free for me. This was the first time I ever had an issue like that with the shellac as it usually stays 2-3 weeks at minimum and I've had it a lot now. The techs are all very creative and helpful with different designs/color mixes, too. It's great to see a business stand by their product and correct something when needed. It is great that Charlie has a presence there, too. My husband gets his hair cut by him and it always looks great. Everyone there is super nice and they all work together very well - always making sure you have everything you need...water, soda pop, wine, beer - woo hoo! I love that they have a points program that you can redeem for credit on a service. It's a nice bonus for loyal clients as a lot of businesses only give bonuses to new customers now-a-days. They even offer a gift on your birthday, too! In all, I will keep going back to Charlie's as they have been fantastic for every service I've used there.

In the past I've always gone to walk-in nail places for mani/pedis but I have never been happy with the results. I have sensitive skin and always left with some kind of nick or cut and my polish chipped quickly. Two years ago I bought a Groupon to try yet another nail place (charlie's East Coast) but two years later I still go there on a regular basis because of the service. I have never left with a cut, the staff are wonderful and the polish looks great and stays on for a long time. I have even expanded the services I get at Charlie's and tried getting an eye brow wax for the first time and I love it! When I came back my stylist who was newer to the salon was supported by the more senior staff, impressive! I never had Charlie, but he seems to be professional, courteous, a down to earth good guy!! The price is rite for the treatment you receive and how professional they are. I would highly recommend this salon to anyone. The atmosphere is comfortable, the stylists aren't snotty, and they know what they're doing. Without having any visual representation and only verbalizing a brand new color idea I had in mind, Amanda was able to do exactly what I wanted, but better! With my not-so-stylist-professional description, she was able to visual what I had in mind, and add her own "twist" by mixing colors together to come up with a beautiful new color for my hair. I have now had Amanda do my hair this exact color for 6 months, and will probably stick with it for a very long time. Also, one of the other stylists liked it so much that she ended up doing her hair that very same color that week! The girls here are fun to talk to, and while your hair is processing, they keep you busy so you don't become bored such as what happens in other salons. This salon is a "hidden gem" in Brookfield, and I will continue to recommend Amanda to anyone and everyone that I know!

All of the stylists that I've had at CECHD have given me top notch haircuts. My hair is really thick and straight as an arrow, so it's difficult to cut well and any imperfections are tough to hide. I would recommend this place to anyone looking for a great quality haircut and friendly service.

My bridal shower is this weekend and they accidentally scheduled my mani/pedi for next Thursday, not this Thursday and can't get me in before then. I have been a customer since the weekend they opened two years ago, and have never had anything short of a great experience. While their services are professional and top notch quality, a couple of the staff members have become like old friends when I'm there. (Which is huge for me since I'm allergic to small talk.) They offer a wide array of services, and their prices are very reasonable. Great service from reception to departure. Very relaxing and professional gel manicure and pedicure. They could use new chairs however, my foot bath kept going on and off and the chair massage did not work. Otherwise everything else was great. No problem using my groupon, will go back on my own. Have now been getting a monthly gel manicure and a pedicure for past 9 months. Service continues to be great. Not only is my nail tech (Candace) SUPER, all of the staff is very attentive and friendly. Always a very relaxing experience. Try it out...you will love it!

I had a few issues and concerns with the actual salon, seemed like I was being asked to keep adding on more and more and it was just getting more and more expensive, stylist Natalie T was nice but I have a feeling that due to the fact that I had a group on that I was given her as a stylist because she was new, this could be a misjudgment however she didn't seem to really know very much overall, but she was extremely nice. The overall salon very clean and welcoming , and I am going to go back again , and try out some other services, I am pleased with my haircut , not with the dye that was still on my skin but I am trying to be understanding about the situation, I would recommend this salon to many others, and I will see how the next visit goes.

Each and every time I've gone to Charlie's East Coast Salon I've been treated with kindness, a smile and a great haircut, color and/or style. It's a bit out of the way for me, HOWEVER when you find a great place to get your hair done; by at least 5-6 different people (to date) and they ALL do a GREAT job that says something and that's worth it to me. I don't trust many people with my hair; but I can finally relax now knowing that my hair will look great walking out from that salon! ****Update: June 30th 2018 After going to this salon for a few years now, I got one extremely bad eyebrow wax & never got them waxed there again. EVER. NOW we can add a bad haircut to the mix. I HATE IT. I ABSOLUTELY HATE IT! I have naturally curly hair & it was getting quite bushy towards the bottom, it was very thick with long layers but whilst getting my haircut this time we talked about 'debulking it' & debulk they did (I even had to say while my hair was being chopped off I had said 'I do have naturally curly hair this won't make it lay funky, will it?' Welp, I now have bulky thick full hair on top with thin wispy scraggly hair at the bottom. I have short layers vs LONG layers that normally kept a nice spiral curl to my hair, particularly at the bottom. Now I have fuzz/frizz layers with a slight wave but with ZERO spiral curls. I'm NOT happy. I rarely complain but I did and I was supposed to go back in on the 7th but again for what? Its not like they can add my hair back onto my head. They would need to cut off more hair on the top to debulk that area, OR cut it all off at ear lobe length to start all over. I was FINALLY loving my curls & the thickness to it but it needed something to lighten the ends a bit to get the curls to bounce up. I look like Edward Scissorhands chopped away at my hair and gave me a umbrella bob hair cut with a long mullet in the back. HORRIBLE without a doubt horrible. I can't even french braid it anymore because there are SO MANY short miscellaneous layered chunks. I can't put it up into a pony tail because when I do, it looks scraggly & the ends are all over the place. Awful & completely disappointed what's worse is comments I've gotten 'what did you do to your hair?' 'Did you get impatient & cut it yourself ' now, I should know by now, never get your hair done right before a special occasion....well, that day was my 45th birthday. Now, I'll have to wait til it grows out. Thankfully my hair tends to grow fast...it can't be fast enough. Such a huge mistake. HUGE ***** OK RANT OVER!

I've been to Charlie's twice, the first time, my stylist got the perfect platinum blonde color, loved it. Going there was inconvenient because i live in Greenfield and expensive so I've used other stylists. Headed back there on Saturday, May 21, because I had an email for 30% off; I requested a bleach retouch and was told I needed the additional toner also. When I left, the first thing my boyfriend said was that my roots looked gold in color instead of white blonde. I let the color settle and used the expensive purple toning shampoo I'd been using for the last 6 months. After a couple washes I stopped using the toner shampoo because it made the color difference even more drastic. The inch root stayed gold and the rest was white. After a week and a half I called the salon back and explained what happened. The woman who answered the phone asked if I used Redken, I told her no but I'd been using a different brand. End story.... They told me because I used the Blonde Sexy Hair (from Big Sexy Hair) brand toning shampoo that they wouldn't take responsibility for the issue with the roots. I don't have an issue with mistakes, they can typically be fixed.. But I have a huge issue with using a toning shampoo as your cop out for a coloring mistake. I won't be paying more money for you to fix your error in the first place just because I didn't use Redken brand shampoo. I'll be keeping my toning shampoo and learning from my mistake. I definitely won't go back again and I wouldn't refer a friend either.... On to try someone new.

When I saw this salon was doing a new client special I decided to try it out. First off the special (I got the full head of highlights with a cut and style for $55) was a GREAT deal. My stylist, Katie, was wonderful. She is not only a very talented stylist, but she is also very affable and customer saavy. I LOVE MY HAIR. You can tell she loves what she does and it certainly shows in the quality of her work. The receptionist was very polite and offered to take my jacket and get me a beverage moments after I walked in the door. For that matter all of the stylists (including the owner) seemed kind, welcoming, and most importantly friendly. I was cautious about what to expect when reading some of the reviews but am glad I took them with a grain of salt. I will definitely be back.

I cannot say enough positive things about this salon. I have been a long time customer of this establishment and have never been dissatisfied.
