Since moving to Seattle a little more than a year ago, I have been all over the Capital Hill area trying to find a good salon. BANG is the best there is. A bit on the expensive side but all the hairdressers know their stuff. Very welcoming and friendly environment. Vanessa is the dresser I have been going to and she is awesome. The Best thing of all is that you can book your appointments online!

I should start this review by saying that I am a difficult client to please when it comes to getting my haircut. I have cosmetology school experience, I know haircutting theory, and I usually have no idea what I want in a haircut except for "something different" and I magically expect the person with the scissors to read my mind and make it happen. Then, in the past, when it has not happened I have sought out new stylists because someday, someone, will truly get me, truly understand what's going on in my head and give me the haircut that I want using good haircutting techniques, not just hoping it turns out okay in the end. That said, it has taken me from September 2007 until 2014 to find someone good to cut my hair. Who is that magical, psychic hairstylist of the gods you ask? His name is Daniel. I am now several haircuts in to this fairytale and I have to say that each cut is even better than the last. It only took me seven years in this city to find someone truly worthy of this praise and he deserves it. He's is truly everything you should want your hairstylist to be: talented, a good conversationalist, really darned good at scalp massages when shampooing your hair, and, yes... even capable of hearing the voices in your head.

Really nice stylists, extremely good haircuts, pretty reasonable price. I got a haircut from Lisa and it was one of the best cuts I've ever gotten. Plus, she actually listened to me when I told her how I normally style it and she helped me improve upon that rather than telling me how I was "supposed to" style it the way most stylists I've seen do.

For the three years I have been getting my hair cut in Seattle I have gone to BANG and will keep coming for however long I'm in this city. I have always had an amazing experience with the team, but specifically I want to give a shout out to Dusty! I have seen him for a cut and color twice now - this time I went blonde and the other time brunette and both turned out lovely. He makes me feel so welcome and has a beautiful and genuine spirit. On top of that I feel like he gives me very honest feedback and he takes my vision and turns it into something that fits me perfectly. Thank you for making me feel like a million bucks.

Despite many negative reviews on Yelp, I decided is give them a try - because I liked all the photos I saw on stylist Nicoles Instagram. So, I called and made a consultation appointment and the actual hair appointment directly following. I was super excited. However, it turns out the whoever I spoke to that books the appointments doesn't know what she's doing. I was on my way to the salon when she called me 10 mins before my consultation was supposed to begin (with my appointment scheduled for right after) telling me that someone else booked an appointment and since I haven't had my consult yet, that they get precedence.... In case the consultation didn't go well. What the heck? Why wouldn't it go well!? That doesnt even make sense. I wish I would have known that my appointment time wasnt guarenteed when I booked it - so that I could have been calling around to find an appointment somewhere else. I have an extremely busy schedule. This is not okay. Bang - you need to figure out your booking system. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has called in wanting the consultation right before the appointment - so as not to have to come in twice.

Small, nice contemporary salon. Roxanne did great work on my pixie cut--I was getting stopped at the grocery store and coffee shop asking who cut my hair. Prices are great and they do complimentary neck clean up between cuts. Online booking is a nice convenience, too.

I've been hesitant to get a short pixie for some years. Majority of the stylist I'd go to suggested against it because of my thinning hair, so I'd always keep long hair. BANG is unlike any hair place I've been to. There's an edgy chic-ness to the salon and their stylist. I've been to Moses twice and she's bomb. Talk about a knowledgeable hair stylist that's not afraid to cut off all my hair and make it look amazing. Worth every penny!

I have Asian fine fluid hair that is difficult to style as it doesn’t keep the shape. Got a pixie cut with Roxanne (my usual cut) and used photos to show the cuts that I thought would work for me. She did a great job and recommended an excellent product that does exactly what I want (volume AND texture). They were also super accommodating and fit me in even though I was late. Definitely coming back.

Danielle at SLU was great. I went in to get my hair cut and dyed grey. She was very friendly, and seemed like she knew what she was doing (and she was cute). I left very happy with the color and the cut. When I went home, however, my hair was quite blue (not what I wanted). Apparently my hair tends to turn blue when I want it to be grey, as this is the second time this has happened (the first time I went to a different salon). I contacted BANG and they were quick to reply and offered to fix my hair color. I made another appointment with Danielle and went in to get it fixed. Apparently my hair is very stubborn and just wants to be blue and not grey, as she went through her normal process to tone the hair back to a silvery grey, but my hair just kept going back to blue. She was resourceful though, and in the end was able to get my hair to an ashy grey color without a hint of blue in it. Not only did she fix the color, but she also refunded the original amount that I paid for the coloring! I was so happy I tipped her an extra $50. BANG knows how to make their customers happy, and Danielle was awesome. : )

LISTEN UP this place is great. I got a trim somewhere else -- and it was mind-blowing that a professional could have done something like this -- there was actually a triangular cap between the front layers and the beginning of the back. crazy inconsistent layering, AND it's a short cut (just below the chin with the back shorter) so there was very little to work with. I have a bad memory but I think my stylist's was named Alison. She was very intuitive and understanding of what was wrong and had such a great understanding of why certain parts were how they were, and what was feasible to fix it, and she did a great job. Great communication so I knew I was in good hands with a lot to fix and little wiggle room. 10/10 WILL be back when it grows out to get something fabulous, so glad I went!
