My wife visited this place and got her hair done and this was her experience. She took her hair out after 1 week. NEVER EVER AGAIN!!!!!!!!! I have been in Norfolk, VA for about 2 years now and I have yet to go to a shop and get my hair done. I had a very important engagement (A friends wedding) to attend and needed to get my hair done within the week. So, I decided to give True Weave a try. I was going back in forth between a full sew in or a lace front closure sew in. I was supposed to get my hair done Markina, but I had to reschedule. I ended up going to Tracie and while she was very nice, I was disappointed in the services I received. I asked her how long she had been doing hair and she told me 15 years, but she has been working in the shop for 2 years. I was happy with knowing she was in the shop for a while and figured she must be really good to have sustained that long. While I was in the chair I was turned away from the mirror (which is normal when going to a salon), so I didn't have the opportunity to see my hair until she was half way done. I expressed concern about the closure being too far back and she said she would be able to cover my hair in the front. I figured she knew what she was doing and I let her continue. I told her I was going to a wedding and she I could come back and she would curl my hair for the event. I thought that was so nice of her to offer that. Once she was done with my hair, she gave me the mirror and I was so disappointed in the way the front of my hair looked. I wish I could post a picture to show how terrible the front looked. She was so nice I didn't want to be confrontational. Next, I went to pay and was told 170.00. WHAT!!!!! I was told the sew in with the closure would be $130.00. Call me crazy,but when I get a quote for a service I am not expecting to get nickel and dime for every penny. Here are all the extras I paid for: net for my weave, cut, and a service charge for bringing my own hair. WHAT!!!!!!!! Again, by the time I left my service cost $170.00. I never paid that much for a sew in. If I would have known about all the bogus charges, I would have never went to them. I paid it and gave a tip of $10.00 for her allowing me to coming tomorrow for a fresh curling. When I left I waited about 5 minutes and called her to tell her I was unhappy with my hair. She said, no problem when you come in tomorrow I will fix it. At that time, I thought everything would be alright. I thought she was very professional and I thought she would fix the problem. The next day when I arrived at the shop, another stylist (I think she was the manager because I saw her in the office) cut the closure out and sewed it back down. She made it look better than it was before, but it was still not what I was looking for. Now you could only see my natural hair on one side of the middle part closure instead of both. I was so ashamed I had to go to the wedding looking like that. Not to mentioned I paid so much money. After I left the shop I sucked up my disappointment and went to the wedding. While at the wedding I received a call from the shop asking me to pay $25.00 for coming in. ARE YOU SERIOUS...... I don't owe them a cent for anything. If the job was done right they would not have had to try and fix it. Also, she told me to come in and get it curled. At this point, I just feel mad at myself for thinking it could be corrected and not listened to the bad reviews. For anyone reading this review inbox me and I will send you the photos I took of my hair after I left the shop, and the photos I took inside the shop when the other stylist attempted to fix the problem.

Competent, professional, talented, quick and friendly! This little hidden gem provided excellent service for my family. From the first phone conversation asking detailed questions, they answered patiently and completely. We visited the site to see for ourselves before booking an appt and they were accommodating. The morning of the appt., the braider and weaver were friendly, ready and worked quickly doing a quality job. We will now be regular customers and enjoyed the experience. Great job, ladies!

The only one I request. If you want a bomb job, no complaints, in the chair and out ON TIME, ask for her. Period.

The hair stylist was real friendly, she was not from this area nor where the other stylist they stated they where all military wives, my hair was okay I got box braids I just didn't like the rubber band method and felt it should've been cheaper because of that reason. I kept the style because I was on my way to the Bahamas. When I got to the Bahamas a lot of the ladies living there was asking how much I paid I told them and they say oh no oh no too much.

She went the extra mile to make sure that when I look in that mirror that I was going to be blown away and I was. Quality of service has gone down hill. I have always been satisfied with my service until recently. They charge you before your hair is styled. My stylist informed me my hair being installed was synthetic and said she couldn't cut or put heat to it. I didn't argue because I knew that was not true because I've had that brand of hair styled before and if she had bothered to test a section of the hair before commenting she would have known. Idk where she learned to do a closure but I look a hot mess. Then they were supposed to refund my 15 since she didn't cut or style the hair. Its been three days and no money has been returned to my card. You might as well go to a kitchen stylist. I should have bought a wig.

Receptionist was more focused on her phone than servicing the customers. As I was getting my hair washed another stylist hovered over my stylist talking about going out that evening and her personal problems. She then stuck her hands in my hair commenting on my grade of hair and questioned why I wanted the e'tae when I should wear my hair curly. I liked the experience once the other stylist went off to do her own hair. Just to return to interrupt my stylist again talking. This was my first and last time at this establishment. Staff is pretty unprofessional.

What great service and excellent styling. The prices are very fair and consistent with the skills of the stylists. I’ve never had to wait more than 15 minutes to be seen and a full frontal lace weave is beautifully completed easily in two hours — three at the most. Great salon!

if i could give less then a 1 i would. these ppl had a really bad attitude to begin with. i came in the salon and showed the manager a picture of the color what i wanted. she said it would be cheaper to buy my own color. weent next door to buy the color. came back to the salon and asked if the colors i bought would match the burgundy i wanted. she said yes and to send a picture of the color i wanted. came back to my appointment and the color came out a bright red. nothing like the picture. very unprofessional and overpriced. Tiffany did my sewin and did a great job. i asked the manager for a refund atleast for the horrible color they did and she offered me 25 in store credit. when i originally paid 390.

Came to true weave spa in Norfolk and and Judy took good care of my hair taking out the sew in and washing and conditioning my hair . My scalp feels soo much better ! Hey, ladies... Originally, I did not like the way the stylist did my hair. She didn't leave enough leave out hair and I had a hard time keeping my tracks covered and there was a hump that didn't want at all. However, I came back a couple days later and the manager Priscella was so sweet and professional. When I called to complain about my weave Priscella's tone never changed and she never got an attitude. She was so professional an understood my struggle. She told me to come in and she fixed my hair and didn't even have to take it all the way out. She was quick and she knew exactly what to do to fix it. Very professional!! She really has a talent for doing hair. I will continue to come and refer others to the salon. Shout out to Kenya too! I am definitely satisfied now!!

If i could give negative stars I would. I've never had such a terrible experience at a salon. The stylist doing my hair was sweet but you can honestly see she wasn't too experienced. I have several bald spots (due to an autoimmune disease; and aren't contagious) but they aren't open wounds but rather scars. The "lead braider" and receptionist, was called because the young stylist was confused as to how to handle it. The "lead braider" proceeds to ask questions about it and it even states that normally they wouldn't work on "someone with my hair condition". I offered to leave and not inconvenience anyone with doing their job but she stated, "you already paid". Oh it gets worse! The "lead braider" then proceeds to ask the stylist if she would like gloves to finish my hair. Lupus isn't contagious you uneducated and unprofessional "lead braider/receptionist". As you can see from the pictures this is how my full sew-in and lace closure turned out. This was just four days after the terrible experience. I would NEVER recommend this place. ALL the bad reviews are TRUE! NEVER GO HERE!!!!

When I left with my hair done it was perfect later on in the week I experienced strands of string exposing itself so I had to tuck it throughout the duration of me wearing my weave. Today I took out my weave and all my hair is doing is falling out like crazy... I installed weave to protect my hair and all this install did was break it off. This doesnt usually shed like this when I get it done anywhere else

When I got there I had a long wait. The people was nice. The girl did my hair was nice as well. I wanted a 360 but I dont know what that was I paid 180 for not what I asked for. When I left it was cute but when I got home and went on my vacation my hair was a mess. The girl did my hair lied about that I could pull it up in a ponytail if I wanted I could not. She said if I wanted to put lace glue on it I could. No I couldn't. She did not leave either lace for me to glue it down. So I feel I did not get my money worth at all. I will never get my hair done there again.

Soo I walk into this place and there’s no one at the front desk and the only two employees are at the hair drying station working on EACHOTHER hair. So I’m waiting a couple minutes at the front desk not even being acknowledged until another stylist walking through the door to start her shift asked if I had been helped. I told her no and she got me in a chair to start braiding. So we’re talking about how I want my hair and other stylist comes from under the dryer with a damn towel on her head talking about “I got it, I’m the braider for today “ yess we’re talking about the same girl that didn’t even acknowledge my presence. So she start braiding my hair so tight I thought my scalp was bleeding. So I left. And the money I paid to get my hair done I put towards them just doing a blowout with my natural hair. So a couple days past and I go for my next appointment that I SCHEDULED. So some stylist started my hair and was quickly interrupted by the receptionist. The receptionist told her to go do somebody else hair and she’ll take over mines. Between the receptionist working the front desk and answering calls I was in there for 5HOURS, all I was getting was a BLOWOUT with my natural hair!! NO DYE NO CURLS JUST FLAT IRONING MY HAIR!! I will NEVER go back. In the past I have referred 20+ people but after 2 bad experience your done. i have shared and will continue to share this experience with anyone who inquires about this business.

I enjoy when the old school songs are on and everyone starts to sing! Ketara is my favorite! Her cut and curl skills are the bomb on my bobs. If this was 2 years ago I would’ve gave this 5 stars but they went completely down hill. You can literally go in now, tell and show them what you want and they mess it up. You tell the stylist it’s not what you wanted and they act like its an inconvenience for them to do what I paid for and overall just leave you with a version you didn’t want. Don’t get me wrong there has been great talent there but everything there is overpriced for the quality I’ve been receiving. It makes it no better that I pay for it (BEFORE the service is done) and I have to come back to correct it (which has become a pattern for them) and they give me another overpriced price on something that should’ve been done the first time. The hair that they are selling now is low quality, it constantly sheds and tangled very easily. You can now only buy their hair if you get it done there as well. I used to tip $20’s because I’ve been in similar services and it keeps decreasing but it’s not even worth it now. I would NOT recommend this to anyone who has gotten their hair done properly or bought high quality hair before. If you’re looking for a shop I’d try “The Weave Express Bar” it’s a little drive and their hours aren’t as long but they are quick, precise, with VERY reasonable prices.

I'm giving them a one-star because the things whatever they put on my head is actually braided and sew in correctly but the whole installment the way it looked at the end was nothing positive unless you wanted a wig your head for $300... oh you all tell me is this hairstyle worth $300.. Please!!!!!!! Read!!!!!!! The paper you have to sign because services aren't guaranteed and no REFUNDS!!!!!!! Other than that get something plain and simple that can't be messed up......just be careful I went to get color and it didn't come out great and they tried to fix it but it didn't work I was hoping for maybe an apology or discount or free service since they don't do REFUNDS and they didn't so I'll probably won't go back...thanks hope this helps others

****DON'T GET YOUR HAIR DONE HERE!!!!!*** I only put one star because I had too. I asked for the best stylist in the salon and I got an Amateur stylist (Katara) Nice lady but can't weave. I paid $150 for A for A sew in and it didn't include cut and style just basic installation. If you get the hair cut and styled it's More money, this is the reason they make you pay before you even sit in A chair. My hair is horrible. My thing is this!!!! If your gonna specialize in Weaves please make sure that your staff Can Do Weaves. And the pictures on the website Nobody's weave looked anything close to those pictures who were was getting they hair Done!!! This place won't be open too longer if they don't satisfy the clients because they won't have any!!! Because I will Not go back or Refer anybody. And the lady on the receptionist has A strong attitude she's Not Welcoming at All!!! I Hate I spent my money here But NEVER AGAIN!!!

It was an great experience! Ms. Judy is very nice and personable. She made sure I knew what I was getting and how I wanted it done. The eyelash person was great! Very gentle and always asked how I was doing. My braider did a very nice job and asked if my braids were too tight constantly and made sure I was comfortable. Renay ,my stylist, was excellent. Will not be going back to this place. One of the worst.I was visiting and needed my hair did so I made an appointment they told me one thing over the phone but once I got there it was something totally different. My hair wasn't worth the price they charge me totally rip off. The day I went in they were very unprofessional from the reception to the stylist. Wouldn't recommend this place to NO ONE keep your money, for the service they give you "can it yourself" or do what I did search styleseat and be "slayed" for half the price.

This is my third time coming to this salon. I decided to get a sew in after 6 months of ponytails and let me tell y’all Ms. Asia gave me life! Not only did she leave out minimul hair for my leave out she tried to make sure she used as much of my three bundles as possible making my hair look fuller than Rick Ross after a thanksgiving meal! My experience at True Weave were excellent. The receptionist Bre was really nice and welcoming. The manager was bomb, the braider Brittany was nice and gentle while braiding my hair. Last but not least Renay was the girl who sewed on my lace wig unit omg she was really nice and funny. To say this was my 1st time visiting I was very pleased with the service provided. Im Giving this place three stars due to unprofessionalism. I walked in and was greeted and was to sign a waiver, the lady at the desk however was very nice so this review isn’t directed at her, the girl who braided my hair (I can’t remember her name) was very unprofessional. While she was braiding my hair (very tightly) she kept stopping to talk on the phone with her, I’m assuming boyfriend. I overheard her on the phone saying how she couldn’t wait to be done and I could tell she was rushing. I understand having a long day and wanting to be home but I feel like it’s rude to discuss that in front of a client. It feels very unwelcoming and rushed. Anyways I was in for a sew in with a leave out So she gives me to the person who sewed in my tracks and she was very sweet and nice but my only problem was her technique. She folded my tracks so the end result was very lumpy and not flat and smooth. She didn’t make any attempt at trying to make my leave out flow with the rest of hair, due to not having a curling iron. Overall it wasn’t worth the money and I ended up taking the hair out in a few days after because the braids were very tight and everything was lumpy. If they worked on quality and customer service this place would be booming with clientele. Until then I will not be returning.

So I've been here before and got a long weave which was perfect. This past Saturday I was there and it was horrible. They posted a picture online of a natural cut . I showed my picture to Tracie. She said yes she could achieve the desired style. My hair looks nothing like the picture. I told her several times that it was not right. I was totally over charged because Tracie did my hair her way which was NOT what I wanted. If your going long hair then this is your place but if you want a short cut keep looking.

Been coming here for years. I’ve seen some good staff let go and some who let on were not that good. Overall the services are good and the staff friendly. Recently had Ms Asia do a full sew in and i love it! She did my braid down as well. Was in and out the chair within 2 hours... and that’s rounding my time up.don’t care to buy hair from the shop but that doesn’t mean the quality isn’t good. Just prefer a different type of hair. Ms. Judy, the Manager, took care of me when I entered the shop seeking an appointment because another local business let me down. She calmed me down, looked at what I wanted and put my with my stylist Renay. The atmosphere is relaxing and all of the braiders and stylist were friendly. What I love about True Weave Spa is the set up where braiders are on one side and the stylist on the other side with at least 6-8 chairs on both. My first time ever coming to TrueWeaveSpa and I was soooooooo impressed with the professionalism, personality, and work ethic of everyone at this hair salon. My hairstylist was Kash and she did an amazingggggggggg job.. I received a different lengths bob something shorter then my natural hair and something I never had before but saw a picture of that I loved. The minute she put the weave in, razor and scissors to my weave I was blown away. I had some leave out and she slicked my leave out and it looked exactly like the weave itself! Thank you Kash for turning my hairstyle from a dream to reality. I’m a tomboy, I compete in JiuJitsu and weightlift. This hairstyle made me feel like a gorgeous girl again!!!
