Loved this salon! I walked in nervous because every other salon I've gone to they charge me a lot of $$ but don't deliver me results. But Karen was AMAZING! She listened to what I wanted and shared her knowledge about curly hair with me. Then took the time to cut and wash and style my hair. I walked in with long dry hair and walked out with beautiful healthy hair, that I loved! I can't say enough about this salon and Karen! Definitely will be going back!!

My daughters (1 curly, 1 straight)..both came. One saw Brenda for her straight hair cut. Perfect! My other daughter saw Karen for her Curly Devacurl hair cut. Awesome! Karen also taught us how to care for the curls and how to treat her hair. For the first time, my daughter is in love with her curls. TJs is awesome!

I had Brenda do my hair, just a simple blunt cut and it came out amazing! I have very thick curly hair so it’s very hard to manage and Brenda was an expert with how to handle my frizz and even gave me some pointers on how to properly manage them. She was easy to talk to and very professional. She recommended me some of the products she used to smooth my hair. I ended up buying one of the smoothing products. Thank you Brenda for the amazing experience I will definitely be back!

I came for the DevaCut and I did not have a good experience here. I called the night before to make my appointment and also to inquire about the price of this type of cut. The receptionist had no idea what a DevaCut was (even though I tried to explain) and she quoted me $50-$60 for my cut. When I arrived at the salon the actual cost of the DevaCut was $85-$127, depending on hair length and thickness. Because I have very thick and long hair, I was quoted $127. I arrived at 9:30am and didn’t get to leave until 12:45. I hated the results of my cut. My curls were not defined, my hair was frizzy, my hair was sticky and I was so frustrated that I had wasted over 3 hours of my day to get an absolutely terrible haircut. When I mentioned that I did not like my hair, the stylist said that it wasn’t her fault because she, “couldn’t change my hair texture.” The issue had nothing to do with my texture and everything to do with the cut and styling. The only reason I didn’t give them one star is because the stylist was a generally nice woman. You’re better off spending a fraction of the money and getting your cut at Hair Cuttery.

I have to just write a review here for Jessie. Everyone in the salon was very sweet, but Jessie was my actual stylist. I gave her a very vague idea of what I wanted with my hair; I had pictures but I hadn't been in a salon in a long time and wound up forgetting to show them to her. Even without a photo reference, she took what I told her and gave me lovely blended layers, with some short enough on top that I can fade them in with my other hair, or pin them back a bit to be bangs. She did the standard DevaCut method: dry preliminary cut with no product in your hair, then a secondary cut after drying your newly washed and conditioned hair. However, she KEPT perfecting my hair literally until I left the studio. She seemed to have a lot of fun with my hair, and I had a lot of fun letting her! I would definitely recommend her (and TJs overall.)

The shampoo with a head massage was lovely and really relaxed me while I waited for my hair stylist (Karen) to be ready for me. Once she was, Karen took the time to talk with me about my daily routine and lifestyle to make sure she could create the style that would fit best for me. She explained what she was doing and why as she was cutting my hair and took the time to do the same as she gave me a blowout so that I could do the same at home. I was made to feel as if I was the only one in the salon and not like I was being rushed out so they could get to the next customer. Absolutely loved it!

Being in the military is never easy, especially finding a new hair salon. Based on a recommendation I made an appointment with Sam. One of my favorites ever to this point. I trust her so much I had her cut my hair short for the first time in my life! Loved it so much I have kept it short. Can't go wrong with Sam.

I feel so relaxed at TJ's! Theres a no drama atmosphere and everyone is always nice and welcoming. Teresa knows her stuff, she understood from our first appointment together what I wanted and I've never thought of seeing someone else since. Being new to town it can be hard to find someone to do exactly what you want and she nailed it!

Worst hair cut experience ever - and I've had some doozies. Wasn't sure if a Devacut was right for my curly hair so set up a consultation. Told stylist I am low-maintenance and needed a wash-and-wear cut and wouldn't use more than 1 post-shampoo/conditioner product. She told me not to worry and it would be great and fit my needs. Based on that I agreed to a $127 Deva cut. 2 hours and FOUR products (and 30 minutes under a dryer later) she let me go with a style that wasn't me, wasn't my natural hair, and would never be maintainable. PLUS she told me at the register I needed an $97 maintenance cut EVERY 4 WEEKS (no one mentioned that beforehand). Plus she left me with a bad haircut and weird choppy layers. When I mentioned the problems to the manager, the solution was a return trip with a different stylist who gave me a quick dry trim that left it even worse. BEWARE!

Best salon in the area hands down. The entire staff is so warm and friendly. The laddies at the front desk are so accommodating and make me feel like I'm right at home. Katie always greets me and is always smiling. The hairstylists are fabulous. Other salons always left me with brassy blonde streaks. Teresa has been the first to ever take me to that summer bright blonde I love with no yellow or brassiness. And she doesn't chop all my long hair off ! I get asked constantly where I get my hair done. I highly recommend everyone here!

Great Place!! I can not say enough good things about it. The entire staff is friendly and welcoming. It feels like they are all family. Its the first salon to ever actually listen to what I want and deliver me results! finally I have blonde with zero brass! I had tried every other salon in the area and always left disappointed. My color seems to last longer. Best of all when I say I want a trim, I really get a trim!! no one seems to be scissor happy and take away my length. I will never go anywhere else!

Love this place! I don't think you could go wrong using any of the talented stylist there. I have and wasn't disappointed. Everyone is friendly and fun! I use Melody and LOVE her! The friends I've recommended Melody to love her as well. She listens to what YOU want. I'm 61 and wanted to grow my hair long one last time; previous hairstylists wouldnt or couldnt... I FINALLY have long beautiful hair like I use to have and wanted again! I love ir!! Rarely have trouble getting an appt. Huge parking lot so plenty of parking. It's located in a small shopping center with places to eat, and several businesses. They are closed on Mondays. Try it! It's close to home for me, but if and when I move you can bet I'm driving back to TJ's!

Prior to entrusting Teresa with my color, you must know that I was one of those "anti color" people. Well, at least since 2000 when I had my first and what I thought would be my last professional color done. I decided however in late December, as a result of some personal challenges going on, to start doing things I'd been thinking about but not done for myself. Allowing my friend Deri talk me into a hair makeover was one of those things. So, when I had questions, being my own regular hair dresser doesn't do color, I reached out to Teresa. Beyond a phenomenal hair dresser, Teresa is a good human being. She did some things quietly and without fan fair for a friend of mine years ago when she was battling cancer and has had brownie points in my heart ever since. She was super patient and sweet answering my questions about style and processes and also took the time to explain things to me, even educating me on terminology I wasn't familiar with. Because of these things and my trust in her, I was willing to drive to her salon in Alexandria from Front Royal to let her make me over (that's over 70 miles for those who don't want to look it up). I honestly had no idea that doing so would be so life affirming and changing. This, from a woman who watches those makeover shows and is wowed every time. I think sometimes though in life we just get comfortable. I didn't even care about dying a few gray highlights coming in either, that's how low maintenance and care free I am. I'm telling you though, listening to my friend and trusting in Teresa's magic, it left me in utter awe. I don't think I'll live the rest of my life without investing in myself in that way and I would urge you to do the same. Thank you Teresa for being a star in your craft. Thank you Deri for the makeover nudges and helping to make it happen. I'd recommend anyone in the area and those out here who don't have a colorist to make that drive. Heck, we could even carpool.

Best salon in the area hands down! I walked in a brassy blonde and walked out a smoking hot red head. These ladies are miracle workers that know their stuff. I absolutely love my new color. Its perfect. Everyone there is so friendly and nice. The front desk lady made me a hot tea. She knew i was nervous about doing such a dramatic change. From the moment i made the appointment to the moment i left i was treated like royalty. It so nice to have a hair stylist take their time and talk to you. Teresa looked through pictures with me on my phone.She made suggestions and showed me colors she thought to. She took her time and was so patient and understanding. I felt so comfortable. You can tell they really know their stuff. The best part is my hair is exactly like the pictures i showed her. How many times does that ever happen?? And on the first try! I am now a lifelong customer.

I got my very first deva cut from Karen and couldn’t be happier with the result. I was at first very skeptical of the price tag on the deva cut but it quickly became clear to me the time it took to do the cut made it very specialized and it was worth every penny. Karen gave life and body to my curls and it’s SO nice to have found a cut that caters to natural curls. Karen was very meticulous and thorough and explained every step to me of the styling process so I could replicate it at home. If you have curly hair and haven’t had a deva cut, you’re missing out for sure.
