The look and feel of the place is extremely professional from the moment you walk in the door. You would never know such a gem was hidden in Essex. Rita was wonderful, very personable, soft-spoken, kind gentle, has many years experience. She gave me a lovely haircut. I brought in a few pictures for reference, and when she was nearly done she asked if I wanted more layers, so she was willing to edit the work that she had just done, but I declined, thinking that I would be happy with her instincts. Have an idea of what you want when you go. Request her, you won't be disappointed.

Use to always get my haircut done here. Very clean facility and very good hairdressers! Great place for high-quality hair care! Just know it's expensive no matter what you get done here.

I had an excellent experience with Deborah for a custom SkinScript facial. When you walk into purple sage the salon is clean, open and airy. I love the welcoming atmosphere and the various crystals and salt lamps that add warmth to the space. The treatment room where I received my facial followed suit with the rest of the salon, it was spotless, very organized and welcoming. Deborah played relaxing spa music while I fully zen-ed out on the comfortable bed. Deborah has an excellent touch and was full of excellent tips and product recommendations for my skin. I loved the scent and feel of all of the products she used and the massage was heavenly. At the end of the facial when she showed me my skin I was blown away, it was as smooth as glass. I ended my experience at purple sage in the salt cave. I left feeling like a new woman and I can’t wait to come back!

Purple Sage is probably one of the best salons I’ve been to! My hair dresser is Jess Martel, and every time she does my hair I am more than impressed! She is extremely good at what she does, she takes her time, and truly cares about her clients! She makes conversation, you can just see she loves what she does. I have been having Jess do my hair for years now, and I will never see anyone else. Purple Sage also offers other neat things that can be nice for a relaxing spa day! Their Salt Cave is the most relaxing time. Their facials are extremely relaxing and make you feel fresh after. I got married last September, and I had no idea about make up, and Jess showed me the best Bare Mineral products that look best with my skin tone. I would consider Jess a friend and not just my hairdresser!

Lynda has been doing my hair at Purple Sage for almost 8 years..... and she is the best. Whenever I want to change things up, she always finds the best solution and gives me the best look. She is definitely skilled, professional and wonderful at her craft. Go see her for all your hair needs. You won't be disappointed!

I would not recommend this salon because I do not think the stylists have the skills to achieve more trendy looks. I came in with a specific look I wanted to achieve and provided photos. I was told it would take about 3 appointments to achieve this look. After 5 appointments and spending more than $1,200 total, my hair looks exactly the same as when I first came in, except now it's damaged with split ends. I wasted an obscene amount of money because the stylist doesn't know how to process color. It's unfortunate, and I really wanted to love her and this salon. I gave her a chance to correct the color after it initially didn't take, but she made it even worse. Throughout the process, she constantly had to ask other stylists for advice on how to color my hair. This did not give me the confidence that she knew what she was doing. I just wish I would have known that up front so I didn't waste so much money. Now I have to move on to a new salon and spend more money for someone else to correct my hair.

so there are 3 caves i have visited in vermont. I am so disapointed, guess the south gets a lot things better and salt caves are one of them. These people that run this cave are rude!

All the pictures on Yelp were posted by the owner. And there is no evidence that these results were achieved by this salon's stylists or on actual customers. Two other photos that appear real include an updo and some other customer whose hair does not look great. I definitely won't return and would not recommend this place to anyone. It is always EMPTY. NO CUSTOMERS (just one?). NO ONE. Wonder why...maybe because they are so rude? And that is for the hair salon...I didn't see any customers getting any other services. I've been to many high end, trendy, even celebrity hairstylists for years. This is not it. It's THE RUDEST PLACE I HAVE EVER ENCOUNTERED. It's cheap but you get what you pay for and that definitely includes the classless, barely competent service. I'm just wondering with the lack of any paying customers why the front desk staff is so useless. Jess the rude receptionist actually on two different occasions kept taking my number down wrong or maybe just not putting it into their system at all. It is in the middle of nowhere in a remote part of Essex in a strip mall and Waze navigates to the other end of the mall. The parking lot was in disrepair and I had to drive my car over a minefield of crater sized potholes. Jess the stylist (yes, they are both called Jess) didn't understand how her product works because I asked for light ash blond but my hair turned out almost black. Their 'permanent' line is like a semi-permanent because it cannot lighten hair at all. Or, this salon doesn't know the difference: *****What hairstylist doesn't understand how to use her hair color or approximately what will be the final color? Empty strip mall hairstylists. As for their 'salt cave': Salt when heated releases negative ions within a limited radius... The hotter the better. Their salt 'cave' is a medium-sized rectangular room with sand on the ground and salt on the wall. If the room is cool, you're definitely not getting any benefit other than maybe resting or quiet meditation. Looks like this place is going to get mismanaged into the ground. To turn things around maybe start by not being rude to customers who get lots of services and tip really, really well.

My best friend booked 2 pedicures for us a week in advance. We came in and sat down for our appointment. The girl said she fills in doing nails but usually colors hair. I'm thinking oh great I have been looking forward to my first pedicure of the season and I am a fill in. And boy was I ever right. They use a pedicure kit out of a box that you can buy and do yourself at home. There was NOTHING to make this experience special at all. They put a glorified dish pan of warm water down and have you soak in it the use only a basic cheap file on your entire foot. The girl did not even trim my nails. After each packet was put on my feet and the wax was applied she did a very nice job of painting the nail and choosing a great color for my skin tone. When I got home to switch into my sneakers for a walk I noticed that the dry skin around my toes and the backs of my heels and sides of my feet was all still there! That is what a pedicure is for to remove old dead skin and calluses off your feet. The "callus" treatment do not do that as they are still there and barely knocked down at all. I mentioned this to my friend and she said the same thing her calluses were not treated or cared for nor was all of her dry dead skin. So next weekend we now have to squeeze in another pedicure into our busy schedules. Oh by the way.... the cost for nothing more than a soak some lotion and the nail color $150....I can do that at home... save yourself some money go elsewhere. Disappointed.

My daughter took me to the Purple Sage for my surprise for my birthday. She took me here for the salt cave. Would a great experience sitting in the salt cave with lovely music, gravity chair with blankets, and just a relaxing experience. Recommend this salt cave to all for a great treat for your mind and body.

Took a friend for her birthday to the salt cave and pedicures afterwards. Salt cave is incredibly relaxing and calming. The two ladies who gave us our pedicures were top notch!!! Best pedicure I've ever had. The foot massage that was given was divine. The staff at Purple Sage are all friendly, helpful, courteous and fun!!! I plan on going back for sure. Can't wait to try a massage and do a makeup tutorial!

Beautiful place that's multifaceted in all forms of healing, treatment, and relaxation. Really enjoyed the hospitality here and got to meet the woman in charge, Ms. Kim. She and her staff were very lovely and knowledgeable. My brother loved his massage there and I was blessed to be able to go into the Himalayan Salt Cave. Inside there was an experience that's hard to forget. I came out feeling really clear minded and being one with allergies, I was able to breathe so well in there. It's a must go.

Every time I enter I feel like a queen! Lynda has been doing my hair for years!!! She is patient, super knowledgeable and honest which is so very important in a hair stylist! If you want your hair to be on point, Lynda is your girl!!! <3 Thank you for the many years of amazing hair!

The Salt Cave at Purple Sage is an experience not to miss! If you are overstressed, tired from travel or life, or just need a little you time, the cave at Purple Sage is your spot! Once we were in the salt cave, all my concerns melted away. I left feeling serene and energized. The staff were very professional, warm, and helpful. The cave is unique to VT w ionized salt dispersed into the air of the cave. Also, if you need a gift for yourself or a loved one, explore their reception area before or after your session for a product to take home.

I have been going to Lynda for over 4 years now. Every time I sit down in her chair, I know that I am in for a great service and amazing results. Lynda really listens to what you are looking for and helps explain the steps and process on how she will get to the desired look. She provides great instruction and recommends products that will work best for your hair. I highly recommend Lynda and any of the staff at Purple Sage Salon.

Lynda greeted me with an offer of fresh coffee and pastries, took my coat, and did a consultation. My visit was fabulous and I received a partial highlight with lowlights added, plus had a trim. I love it! During my shampoo I had a scalp massage that nearly put me to sleep! I left relaxed and totally happy with my experience.

I have been having Lynda do my hair for several years and the experience has always been amazing. She has always been so attentive and thoughtful in helping me solve anything I’m trying to fix (like dryness and frizziness). She really listens and is so knowledgeable about offering multiple options and solutions but is very respectful in whatever I choose to do. And Lynda truly cares about her guests and offers both a professional and personal experience as a stylist.
