The environment is friendly and clean. Teachers respond well to students very complimentary. Student did a great job appeared confident and did not rush (Aimie). Its a little cold in waiting area but once in the back I was made comfortable with a warm soft blanket while getting my lashes done.

The entire experience there was great! I went there to get my sisters and my mom facials for their birthdays and they all loved the facility. I personally went in once and loved the experience. The facility was clean and I was helped by McKenzie Shimanek. The entire time she was completely friendly and did exactly what I asked for! I would recommend her to anyone wanting to come into the facility. She was fantastic!! Overall great atmosphere and great people! 5 out of 5!

I chose Mandalyn Academy because of the location, which was close to my home. I was impressed with the clean and modern facility from the start. The instructors are helpful and knowledgeable. It is a new school (the cosmetology program) so there are still some kinks to work out but I feel like I am getting a good education and love the environment the school provides.

I’m only giving this 1 star because I’m required to give something. Otherwise it would a ZERO. Definitely not ever going here again. I had originally decided to go here because a student told me that gel manis were $10. I figured hey, for $10 ... I’ll let a student have a try! Well, the student was nice enough. We made conversation. But her work was super sloppy. Their gel polish was old & crusty. And she couldn’t clean up any of the mess she made on my fingers. I still just kept telling myself, it’s $10 & she’s learning ... Give her a break. Then I go to pay & come to find out ... my total is $25! TWENTY FIVE DOLLARS. Because I got a “manicure with my gel add on of $10!” I’m sorry ... I don’t see where anything you did was a mani? The student never worked my cuticles, trimmed my nails, filed anything, etc. There was NOTHING mani about it. This place a huge SCAM! For that price, I will go to a real salon & pay the $35 for some proper service. #byefelica **As an update: my “gel” mani peeled an hour after I got home! I have been begging & fighting to get a refund ever since!!!**

My daughter is currently a student at the Mandalyn Academy, as is my niece. It is a very impressive school with instructors that are great at what they do. They are giving their students a solid base and teaching them all they need to know to be successful cosmetologists. My daughter loves what she is learning and doing. My sister took my mom to Mandalyn Academy for a haircut. She told me that it was a very clean and professional looking business. The students and instructors looked and acted very professional. She was impressed with all she saw and the service was great. By the way my mom's haircut looked great...I saw the before and after pictures that my sister took. Thanks to my daughter, Vanessa Tracy, for doing an excellent job. The color on my lashes makes all the difference! The reason that I only graded it "Very Good" is because those that help me schedule my appointments are very nice but not always on the ball. But I will deal with that any day for the great look I get. :)

I was able to get an appointment today on super short notice. I knew I wanted a trim and something "different" but I wasn't sure what...so I had Whitney color my hair and trim my hair. She was easy to talk to and knew what she was doing. I travel 50 miles to come here to get my hair done because I trust them with my hair. I am very particular with who touches my hair and they always do a great job and their prices are awesome!

Only rating so it can be seen. This place doesn't deserve any stars. First off I will NEVER recommend this place to anyone. I went in with perfectly healthy long blonde hair to get a perm. The instructor was with the student 95℅ of the time and I have no idea why she never said anything to the student or me about the issue. They left the perming solution in for 30 minutes which is twice as long as the maximum amount of time. When they finished my hair was fried smelled burnt and looked like a rat's nest. The didn't apologize or offer to fix it. They sent me away made me pay and told me to come back soon. I ended up going somewhere else to get help and there was no salvaging my hair I had to buzz it off and now look like a guy. I HATE this place. I would sue if I could.

I purchased some Image skincare products here several weeks ago. When I tried using Image Vital C serum the next day, the pump wasn't working and no serum was coming out. It seems to be broken. I've used this product before so I know how to use this product with the pump, and this one was clearly malfunctioning. I called in to Mandalyn to let them know and ask for advice or help on what to do, as this is a $60 product. The receptionist said there are no refunds, it is all final sale. I asked if I could bring the product in for her to look at and see if anyone could help me. She said no, but she would call the owners or managers and talk to them and see what could be done. She took my name and number down and said she would talk to them that day and call me back, and I have never heard back from her-- weeks later. I called in again, and the person was rude and said they didn't know what I was talking about. This is HORRIBLE SERVICE. I understand why products must be final sale, but if something is clearly broken, that is inexcusable. I paid over $60 for a broken product that I now can't use... There is no way to get the product out without the pump. What a waste. DO NOT BUY your skincare products here. Go elsewhere with better customer service, lower prices, and a better policy when things out of your control go wrong.

I’ve gone here before and had a great experience in the past so I figured I’d give them another shot. I went in for a cut and a root touch up/lightening and showed a reference photo. It took SEVEN hours and when we were done, I looked like a zebra. Nothing like the photo I showed. They had given me dark low lights without me asking and very bright highlights that were very patchy and were brought all the way to the root in the back but not the front. The girl who did it was learning and was very sweet, so I don’t blame her too much.. however the instructor had to do my cut because they were running out of time and she BOTCHED it. It was so choppy on one side and long on the other. I had to pay $160+ to get a color and cut correction a few days later professionaly. I don’t know if I’ll ever go back.

This place is better then all of the hair salons I've been too! The instructors know how to deal with any situation that might fall in their way and that's why they're students are amazing at what they do! My stylist was Jessica, I wanted a cool light balayage for my hair. Since it is almost black it seemed impossible. With some help with the instructors and my stylists determination it was accomplished! I love my hair and I will always go back to Jessica! TOTAL WASTE OF TIME AND EMBARRASSING. I was told that I was a good candidate for laser hair removal due to my pale skin tone and brown facial hair, which made me hopeful that I could get this hair off my face. But the manager discouraged me from scheduling an appointment because the laser treatment didn't work for her. She has BLONDE hair. WTH?! My consultation was done in the lobby where EVERYONE could see and 2 esthetician students gawked at my face. I had to let my facial hair grow out for this appointment and to have them waste my time and humiliate me in front of everyone like that....TERRIBLE customer service. I will take my money and my beard somewhere else. I gave them 1 star. The receptionist was nice.

I went to get a manicure and pedicure here and I was not impressed. Their nail polish selection was limited and I have never heard of the brand they used. Within the first day my nail polish was chipping. I don’t feel like they offered anything more than I could have had my little sister do at home. The students were nice, but not worth the $35

I have loved every bit of it , the teachers are so knowledgeable and AMAZING people I love and have great respect to each one of them, I still go and see them every once in a while it is still same teachers and owners and they are great and very professional. I don’t regret one single bit as I have reached my dream Job and am successful because of the things I have learned in Mandalyn Academy.People that have not made it or gave up too easy or cannot respect their teachers or rules or the people around them is obviously not a right person to work with people or this industry. You have to follow rules and respect people because for you to make it and have a great job you have to have respect dedication and obey rules as for every spa has rules and you have to treat every client and coworker with respect and be a people person. If I would turn back time and re make my decisions I would make the same decision without a doubt for is the best decision I have made in my life to be able to have my dream job. Warning.... Considering going to school at Mandalyn Academy then read this. I relocated from out of state to go to this school. Arrived on a plane to Utah with 2 bags. I began school and after attending only 3 days found myself in a homeless situation, an emergency situation. Not having ANY resources here nor knowing anyone I ended up in a womans shelter, with my kids, in another town. I told Mandalyn Academy about my predicament. I couldn't continue classes because of emergency sitiation and needed to keep my kids safe. They did not offer assistance in anyway or form. Not even advice of where to go. I received only half of my student kit and 1 book. Mandalyn Academy received my grant money plus student loan money. (Which I could have deferred later if needed) But Mandalyn Academy sent the money back because they know they can get more money by sueing the students. They sued me for more than $6000 of school fees!!!!!! I had to get an attorney to help out with negotiations. I had to settle for paying $3000 because educational loans are not written off in bancruptcy(which I had to consider doing). Just know Mandalyn looks how they can double the money if they can. They had the money in their hands to cover my education costs but preferred to sue students to get more money This is the type of greedy people you're dealing with. Also they included a charge for a full student kit in their charges and not the half kit I received. I wasn't even in the school long enough for them to give me all the supplies of the full kit. They said I gave notice months after I actually did. I had to settle because I did not put my notice in writing and made it verbally over the phone. ( I was in extreme emergency situation trying to survive here) They know exactly what they did to me and they did it on purpose with full full FULL INTENT to screw a person over who was in a bad situation!!!!!! We are a respectable family which ended up in a strange situation which caused us to be homeless at the time. That is the true heart of the people who own and run Mandalyn Academy!!!!!

I've been impressed with each of my experiences at the Academy in American Fork since I started coming about a year ago. I've had my hair colored twice and cut once. I was especially impressed with Jackie Johnson and how she carefully explained the process of coloring and how she suggested new ideas to try on my hair, since I was feeling really bored with my hair color. She also helped me to have a much more positive salon experience. She has a very calm and easy going personality and is very easy to talk with. I've also been impressed with the quality of the products and how carefully my hair has been cut and colored the way i liked it. I would highly recommend going! I've also started taking my kids and they've had a great experience also.

I wanted a hair cut but was a little worried about going to a beauty school (I used to go to AVEDA at the mall). So since the price was right I decided to check it out. I went to a sweet girl named Olivia. She was fantastic. She was friendly but not so chatty that I was worried she wasn’t paying attention to what she was doing. She listened to what I wanted (I wanted something different). She was very thorough ~ she didn't rush through my hair cut (I felt pampered). Whenever I go to a new salon the first thing I look for is long stray hairs / is my cut even / and did she cut too much off? I was beyond happy to see that all my usual worries of going to someone new were unfounded. In fact I have gone to her to get eyelash extensions too! It sure takes less time to get ready in the morning so totally worth it. The services there are professional as the teachers are always close by and the students seem very happy that you’re there and I like that. But the best perk of going there is the price. It’s actually so reasonable that I have been going to get my haircut and my eyelashes done more than I ever have. I love a great deal!

I was getting my hair blow dried and straightened here weekly. The girls were very kind to me and did a good job. I have truly appreciated their service, it made my life simpler until this last time. I went into get my hair trimmed and the student had an emergency and had to leave before my appointment. The instructor kindly offered to do my hair at the same price. I was grateful because I had an important event scheduled. I ask her to trim, blow dry and straighten my hair, fairly simple. She decided to THIN instead of TRIM my hair and did a horrible job, it totally wrecked my hair which I had been growing out for some time. This was an instructor not a student. I had to then go somewhere else and get it reshaped and cut shorter. This cost me my hair and more money. I. did not want short hair. I am not happy about the whole experience. I wont be returning here again.

I'm not one to pamper myself but I visited Mandalyn Academy for the first time for a pedicure and manicure. AWESOME! Bailey was so professional and made me feel so comfortable with her conversation and style. I loved it so much I came back for a eyebrow wax and eyelash tint! LOVE IT! Bailey once again did an awesome job. I love the way it makes my eyes look. I will be coming back for more. I love the gel nails I had done by Bailey also. I was very impressed with everyone there. They all looked very professional. I had Chandlei give me a facial and give me highlights, and she was very confident in what she was doing, and you could tell she loved doing it. I loved how instructors walked around making sure everything was okay, and if anyone had a question they would walk them through it without doing it for them. You can tell all the girls are comfortable doing it, and are all friendly. The atmosphere is great there. I loved it!

I've been going to Mandalyn Academy for a few years now. Was always satisfied with their service. This time I am not. I've called to schedule an appointment to relax my hair and asked when it will be safe, because I did perm not long ago. I was scheduled for last Thursday. When I came I was told that the relaxer will not work with my perm and was offered Brazilian blow out with 40% discount. I had never done it before, so I asked a few questions about it. I've asked the receptionist if I will get the same result, she replied that it will be even better for my hair. It was 2 times more expensive, but I agreed. Lady who did my hair was great and did an awesome job, but at the end when I asked why my hair is still curly, she said that Brazilian does not take curl away and I need to use hair dryer to do that. I was unhappily surprised. Receptionists should provide more accurate info, especially when you charge twice as much.

I was just there a couple days ago for a signature facial. I was a first timer and Malia was my aesthetician and she was wonderful. I felt so relaxed and tried not to fall asleep during my facial. My skin felt so radiant and fresh afterwards. I'm so ready for my next facial with Malia at Mandalyn Academy. This place is the most unprofessional school I have ever encountered in this lifetime. It should be officially named Mandalyn HIGH SCHOOL. DO NOT GO TO SCHOOL HERE!!! With students that are expelled for invalid reasons on a constant basis and other acts of absurdity that happen daily, including having owners and teachers all being related and and therefore completely biased, I advise you, please DO NOT waste your precious time or money. Find a school that believes in you and wants you to succeed as one cannot learn competent skills from incompetent people.

The service here is wonderful. I loved my stylist. However, I was very uncomfortable with the woman who checked me out last time I was there. It was not the regular receptionist who is normally there. She was tall and had medium length darker hair, probably her late 40's. She was dressed very immodest and unprofessional compared to the other girls working in the salon. She was very short with me and unkind and made the whole environment negative.

If I could give it 0 stars I would STAY AWAY SYDNEY RUINED MY HAIR!!!!! IT COST ME ALMOST $300 TO FIX($285) at another salon after she gave me the run around about fixing it.
