By far my favorite salon because of Wayne Gavin. I Had very thick long wavy hair and I wanted to get a hair cut that was very drastic. I was fortunate enough to have Wayne cut my hair. Love this place! Was recommended here by a friend and came back for the second time - didn’t think this place could get better but it did! The front receptionist was nice, energetic and immediately got me something to drink. I got my hair cut by Jordan and she could not have been more awesome! The shampoo room was quiet and serene (did I mention the awesome head massage?!). I have curly hair that rarely gets cut with the curls looking bouncy but I’ve never had a better cut than this one! She was super easy to talk to, had great recommendations for hair products and how to style without feeling pushed to buy the products she was using. She was genuine and has some real talent with cutting hair (especially curls!)! I don’t usually write reviews but felt this place deserved it. Couldn’t recommend this place more!

I have been longing for a cute cut for years, mine was okay, I went to the sugarhouse Lunatic Fringe and was highly disappointed and felt my bank account really took a hit, I tried Paige and since the first cut I've been in love with it, she really listens and tells you, hey I have to cut it more than you want to get the style you want, a couple appts later and I have the style I've been looking for. YAY for Paige!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I left this salon in tears because I spent 200 dollars for hair I absolutely hated. I was so excited to try it because of the good reviews, but I walked away with a burning scalp from the most painful washing of my life, and orange/pink hair. I went in wanting some highlights around the bottom, and now my hair is over bleached, and a terrible color... this was after they “fixed” it in the salon. I finally said it was fine because I’d been there so long and was dreading the thought of it being washed again, or ruining my hair further. I was hoping this salon would provide the best of the best and was looking to leave feeling better than when i arrived. Now I’m wearing a hat 24/7 because I’m embarrassed by it. Actually heartbroken i ever went in.

This is the worst salon ever DO NOT waste your money here. The staff is highly unprofessional and rude. They don't care about customer service at all. I went here for a few years every 6 weeks and paid $225 for a cut and color but just found out they don't value loyal customers. I was 15 minutes late to my appointment but had messaged my stylist letting her know I was a few minutes late. At no point did she tell me she would have to reschedule she text back how late? At that point I was already in the salon. She walked up to me and said she cant do my hair because I was late. Mind you every time I go there I'm on time or early and I sit there until 10 minutes after my appointment time waiting on her. When I mentioned that to her she lost it and was yelling at me in front of other customers. Then I asked to speak to the manager Mickey who just pawned me off to the LF in Holladay where they botched my hair and turned it orange/yellow then both salons refused to fix the orange/yellow hair and said they're parting ways with me. So I left in tears with fried orange and yellow hair. When I asked if I could speak to the owner Shawn I was told he wasn't going to be contacting me, which tells me they don't care about customer service. Do yourself a favor and don't go to this chain salon it's gone down hill and they care about numbers not customer service. Go to Meraki House, Salon Zazou, or Salon Keiji anyone of these places has excellent customer service and highly skilled stylists.

I go to Kylie F. often for my color and cuts. She always does an amazing job and has great conversation. Everyone else that works there that I’ve interacted with is really nice, they have snacks and drinks for you, and it’s easy to make an appointment or ask questions. Would highly recommend a visit to Lunatic Fringe!!

I went in for an updo. Halfway through the updo the stylist tells me that she has actually never done a half up half down hairstyle...I specifically went in for this look and was really disappointed but didn't want to ask her to do it if she didn't have experience because I didn't have time to fix it before my event. After she told me she didn't have experience--she then said that she was already doing another look on my hair. I was honestly pretty shocked that she said that and was already doing a different look without my permission. She spent extra time on my hair and had to get help from others because it wasn't coming out well. Afterwards I left in shock and had to rush home to fix it before my event. I don't really feel like it was the Stylist's fault because she really did try -- I think it may have been on the scheduling side. I never write negative reviews and was really surprised about the experience because I have been to the salon before and have told others about how great my experience was then.

Stephen is AMAZING and personable. He listened to what I wanted to make sure that we were on the same page for my undercut pixie bob. We had great conversations too. Seriously. I have been coming to this salon for years now. This business is extremely professional and the staff is amazing. All of the stylists are top level. I went to Jenner for years and lost her to her sweet baby boy, so happy for her. I landed in Cole Carlstrom's hands and he is as amazing as Jenner is. My husband also loves Lunatic! I'm extremely happy with all my experiences at Lunatic Fringe and the shampoo room is heaven. No heads flopping back in the bowl with their specialized sinks - truly a relaxing experience and they beautifully massage your head. I highly recommend this business and all of the stylists!

A lady by the name of Ella called me yesterday after I mistakenly missed my appointment threatening to charge me for that appointment if I did not call back and reschedule the same day. I obliged, and apologized for the missed time also noting that I understand the stylists time is also valuable and that I would be compensating him for my error when I came in for my next appointment. Ella proceeded to lie to me and say that their new system required a card on file before they could reschedule my appointment. Feeling relatively boxed in by this request, I naively gave the her my card information, and the next day found myself charged for the missed appointment. This is fraudulent behavior, and I am honestly in disbelief that a business would do this. If it is your policy to charge for missed appointments please make that clear to your customers up front, and if it is offered that I will not be charged if I call back and reschedule, I expect you to hold to what you say, not bait and switch me. If no one reaches out to me regarding this, I will be calling my credit card company on Monday to report a fraudulent charge that I did not authorize. UPDATE: I was reached out to by Maria(the salon director). She was incredibly professional, listened to my concerns, and apologized for the miscommunications as well as my poor experience. I really appreciated her time and attention to my issue. Thank you very much for the quick and personal turn around on my complaint. It shows a great care in your reputation, and I greatly appreciate it.

I came to Lunatic Fringe Salon after having a horrific hair experience at another local hair salon in SLC and Paige at the Parleys Way location saved me... more than once. I moved to SLC after living in Chicago for a few years and I was missing my funk, edge, and professional level hair treatments. I have never felt more at home at a hair salon than I do at Lunatic. It’s been the best cut and color I have ever had and I keep coming back!! She is also so helpful when recommending MUST have products to keep your hair strong and healthy. She has worked with my budget on what I feel comfortable with spending. AND when I have had any concerns she is 100% ontop of it. The few times I have gone there I never walk out with the prices listed on the web site. They are constantly trying to upsell you expensive hair products that the directions are not in English so it's a waste of money. Was charged for a deep conditioning and full foil. She only foiled my roots and got mo deep conditioning. My hair is orange and the redo appointment was scheduled for sat at 2:30. They called me and said they had to move the appointment to noon. I had to take my grandson to his football game at that time so now they will not fix my orange hair unless I pay full price I will never go back dollar cuts does a better job and has better customer service.

Best salon in the state - lives up to the expectation and standard of the price. This salon is always keeping it fresh and making sure the trends and the quality line up. I followed Cole here as a client and have trusted him to take me from black to blonde healthily, and watched him surpass expectations for not only myself but other clients with drastic color changes as well. A good colorist is harder to find than a good haircut, and they are abundant here. I have been impressed with the atmosphere, the staff pampers you and makes you feel special. I like that there is diversity between the skills from stylist to stylist, in my experience this team has someone for everyone! Cole has been excellent at listening to what you want while being mindful of your hair health which is EVERYTHING!

It had been 3 years since my last haircut. I walked in with long curly hair (reaching my lower back) and left feeling very dissatisfied with medium length hair. It would have been the worst haircut I'd had in my life if it had not have been for a more experienced hairdresser who tried to fix the damage that had been done. The original hairdresser did not really know what she was doing. I felt like a guinea pig, as I watch my hair getting shorter and shorter, as she tried to fix it. When I told her I didn't like the cut, she finally decided to consult with another hairdresser. Too late. I'm upset that this establishment allows inexperienced people to cut hair. After 2.5 hours, the final hairdresser said to let me hair grow for 6 weeks and come back, to see what they can do. Getting complimentary conditioning treatments, does not undo this damage, and upset.
