It's an okay place to get a curly hair cut, but I've found places that are slightly less expensive. They try to up-sell you on everything, which is very annoying and I felt pressured even when I kept saying I didn't have money to buy anything. They know their stuff and it is a great experience but you can find the same experience at a much cheaper price with less up selling.

I see others have gotten great results here. When I came they put me with a newbie and she DID NOT KNOW how to cut my curls. It looked awful. She gave me some pretty great products, but the cut... I hope I could maybe style it and make it work but it was so uneven and the layers were terrible. I went somewhere else recommended to me to get it fixed and evened out. I was upset because it had to be cut even shorter to even it out.

THE BEST PLACE FOR CURLS IN UTAH!! I have struggled for my entire life to find someone to care for my naturally curly hair. When I found Rachel it was seriously life changing!!! I'm new to the curly hair universe as my hair has gone from fairly straight to quite wavy over the last year. I made an appointment at the Curly Hair Studio based on its location and all the amazing reviews I read online. Those glowing reviews were definitely spot on! I had a migraine when I went for my appointment and everyone there worked hard to help reduce any chance of adding to my pain. I'm highly sensitive to product with fragrance, so they made sure that everything used on my hair was either a natural scent or unscented. Also, they treated me like an old friend, not a complete stranger. My haircut is great and my hair looks amazing - more curl than I ever thought possible from my once straight hair! Everyone was really generous with information on how to style my now super wavy hair. I would recommend this salon to anyone, straight or curly!

I haven’t been to the SLC location, only their newer location in Orem, but it is nice to have multiple product lines, and not just a couple products, for curly hair of all kinds! I am very very disappointed. I will never go back to this salon. The owner was so uninviting and frankly just rude. My first visit i came with my mom and little kiddos, they were quietly watching their ipad not causing any harm and my mom (who was there to care for them) was TOLD (very inconsiderately) to take them out of the salon and to the park down the street instead- because children weren't allowed? I've never been told that before, and there was no sign or warning about it. The second visit the stylist did the wrong thing i asked to my hair. Even though i asked throughout the process, if she was sure it would turn out like what i wanted. And then at the end when i wasn't sure it had, she said i could come back to fix anything i didn't love - but when i called back after giving my hair some time to adjust, i was rudely talked to (by the same women/owner my mom had encountered at the previous appt. ) and was told the fix wouldn't happen. Unless i would pay again. They wouldn't fix their mistake and they refused to refund my money. Disclaimer: my actual stylist was extremely sweet, I will never be giving them my service again for the pure fact that, the feeling of the salon was terrible and the owner i interacted with was ridiculous.

Despite the fact that the appointment was a free touchup, I didn't feel rushed, and she really took all the time necessary to make sure the shape of my haircut was exactly what I wanted and was flattering to my curls. I just moved here from out of state and have been seeing the same girl for 6 years.. I hadn't done anything drastic with my hair in over 10 years, just a maintenance trim every 6-8 weeks. I decided I wanted to do away with the long, moppy hair do and get something light and fresh. I booked an appointment with Rachel. She was amazing and totally delivered! She listened to what I wanted, took her time, and worked with me to give me a style that worked with my curls, my vision, and my lifestyle. The entire staff was super friendly and helpful. I had a great experience at The Curly Hair Studio, will definitely be going back, and highly recommend these ladies, especially if you've got some curls that need a little extra TLC!

Went in wanting a pixie cut but the stylist ( you can see her in the photo) convinced me not to because she said it wouldn't look good and would be more upkeep than I wanted. She convinced me to just get a trim, but the job she did was terrible! Super triangular, strange shape and full of holes and straggled pieces of hair. I ended up going to a friend of mine who was fresh out of hair school who came to my house, and she gave me the best pixie cut ever and I looked great! The curly hair stylist from this salon just didn't know what she was doing, or she just didnt care enough to give me a nice shaped cut. I've cut my own hair ever since then and I do a better job than what she did. You hope if you have to pay an arm and a leg that they would give a professional cut. I know there are good devacurl stylists out there, but haven't wanted to give it a try ever since, no one has the money to spend that much on straggly hair cuts.

After years of damaging my natural curls via flatiron, I decided to go natural. My hair went down to my lower back and didn't remember its natural curl pattern due to the damage. I started doing research and decided to cut off a lot of the damage and wanted a stylist/studio that offered Deva Cuts. I found Curly Hair Studio and booked an appointment with Rachel, and I am glad I did. She is very warm, friendly and knowledgeable. She walked me through how to take care of my hair, how to style it, and products that are best for my hair type. She gave me a fantastic cut and color as well. I don't recall my curly hair ever looking this great. I get so many compliments about my volume, definition, and curl pattern. Thank you, Rachel. The prices are reasonable. The studio is cute and clean. The shampoo bowl does NOT give you a neck cramp. Leslie Jo washed and deep conditioned my hair. This was probably the most relaxed I've been in a long time. This place was Heaven sent!!! I have been trying to bring out my waves/curls for the last few months, and found that regular stylists aren’t taught how to treat curly hair. I asked on Facebook for suggestions and was told to try this place out. My stylist Cynthia was amazing! The appointment took over 2hrs, but in that time she washed, cut, and styled my hair AND coached me on how to improve my routine without pushing tons of expensive products on me. I will definitely be returning and would suggest anyone with textured hair to try this place out!

If you have curly hair, this place is a must. Rachel runs a fantastic business that is both friendly and professional, and her cuts are the best. I have tight curls (3c) and have endured my fair share of bad cuts. Right before I moved to SLC, I had a curl specialist cut my hair in Seattle that resulted in a noticeable rat tail and complete unevenness which was so bad that another stylist had to correct it by chopping off most of my hair. Needless to say, I was nervous moving to SLC which was smaller, and seemed to have fewer curls. So when I found Rachel who specializes in curls, I tried her out and will say that if I ever move away, I will fly back for her. At your first appointment, she will also do a consultation, showing you what products to use and how to style your hair. This is interactive and hands on. She is very generous with giving you samples to try. My hair looked so good, I decided to buy the products she recommended. And while the cost is higher than what I was paying for grocery store product, it lasts much longer (use less), and my hair consistently looks good. Once my hair just completely frizzed out, so I texted Rachel a text with a picture and she got back to me right away with how to fix it. Bottom line: trust the curl expert on how to take care of your hair. The salon is spacious, clean, and uplifting in its decor. You are always greated by a warm receptionist and asked if you want anything to drink. If you are waiting for color to set, there are magazines and wifi. At checkout, you get a free gift (hair bands or travel size product) and are given generous samples of anything you may need. I've always enjoyed the conversations I have with Rachel, her staff, and other clients. It's just a friendly place and I find myself looking forward to getting my hair cut! While at other salons in other states (MA, CA, and WA) I have had to take advantage of the complimentary "fix" cut within two weeks, I have never had to here. I also enjoy not paying a curly hair premium, even with stylists who specialize in curls. My hair has never been so healthy in its life. If Rachel thinks a treatment will damage your hair, she will let you know, so that you can make an informed decision. And she will offer alternative treatments and do what she cannot help you get your curls healthy enough for what you want (more color in my case). If you are still on the fence, take a look at the salon's Instagram and you will see how great the cuts are as well as some pretty impressive before/after photos. And if you are worried about your type of curl, just give them a call! Overall, this place is great, and I recommend it to everyone I know with curls. My family has complimented on how good my hair looks since I moved here. I no longer keep it tied back all day and I can grow it longer without it looking sad. Hands down, best place to get your curls cut.

Tayslie was phenomenal and gave me tons of hair tips and some product samples to try out. We'll see how good I am at styling my hair on my own... I had considered going to this salon because my sister in law had a terrific hair stylist the first time she went but after hearing about how the owner treated her both the first and second time she went, i refuse to go there. The term “the customer is always right” has no place in her book. I honestly don’t know how she could have a successful business if she treats her customers like garbage. Not only was the owner rude but she wouldn’t refund or redo a coloring job that was done completely wrong. In my opinion, denying a free $50 value highlight job (to fix your mistake i might add) is not worth losing a customer (or 2 in this case).
