This is the best salon I have been to by far! I highly recommend this Salon!!! Selma is a great stylist and is so personable. I will be coming back to her shop and will only want her cutting my hair. It's probably the most I've ever paid for a haircut but it was worth it! I had went to a cheap salon and the woman messed up my hair, too many layers and uneven everywhere. Needless to say she didn't give me the cut I wanted. As soon as I sat down (at Upper Cuts) Selma could tell right away where all the mistakes were made by the other stylist! Selma just became my new hair stylist ... I'll keep coming back for sure! Thanks Selma! ☺❤

I first came to see Selma as a walk-in and have been coming back ever since. She is kind, caring and professional. She does a wonderful job cutting and styling my hair. She also did an amazing job when I brought my daughter in. My daughter had overworked her hair and had dyed it a deep burgundy color. Selma patiently and painstakingly got it back to it's original (and beautiful) strawberry blonde. We are forever grateful! I went in to Upper Cuts with a pretty ambitious request to go from brassy blonde to platinum blonde with silver. Not only did Selma accomplish this insane task in one visit, she even practiced on her own hair the night before to make sure she could get the color I wanted. How many hairstylists out there would do that? I am beyond impressed and will continue to spread the word about Upper Cuts Salon and Selma's amazing experience and hard work.

I LOVE this salon. Having just moved to Clarksville, TN, it's hard when you have to find a school for kids, a hairdresser, dentist, etc. I have gone to other beauty salons and try as they might, their hair skills just couldn't meet what I accomplished at this salon. Now, my hair is only shoulder length and now above that with a nice, subtle angled bob, but others couldn't get it right like Selma! I showed her what I wanted in a photo, then we went to the mirror so we could decide on where to start the cut so it wouldn't be too high or too long, she shampooed me, and cut. After the cut, I got the mirror again to justify that the cut was to my specification. She is really easy to talk to and explain what you want. She did make recommendations for my hair without being overly critical when I asked about products. Products were not shoved in my face and talked about the whole experience. I loved that she knew how to do a full blowout too! My hair really retains moisture and usually when I walk out the salon, I have instant frizz, but not today and she only put one product, lightly in my hair. I hate when other stylists see frizz and automatically think 5 products should hold this monster down. I have thin, baby fine hair and don't want to look like 5 day bedhead and I didn't after leaving this salon. I genuinely recommend this salon to anyone and I always say, before you review a salon and you are unhappy, at least go back and see if the stylist can fix what you are unhappy with. They understand when you style your own hair, you might find things they missed. This is not the case with this salon. So why did I give this 5 STARS? First, after she cut, dried, and styled my hair, she went through it dry too to finish the cutting of stray ends. Anyone with curly, frizzy hair knows how crucial this is for us girls. And she didn't forget to clean up my neckline after bringing my hair above my shoulders. 1) She can cut based on photo an in collaboration with client, good listener. She doesn't give you HER version of a photo (I hate that) 2) I am totally new to this salon so this is not a friend review 3) Complete blow dry and finishing cut 4) Great communication skills and easy to talk to 5) No salon product pushing or intimidation She took pics of todays slightly angled bob and she has permission to share those on her website. Loved my experience at Upper Cuts! Selma was excellent and very friendly. My hair was dull, fine and just lifeless. By the time I left, it looked nice healthy and shiny and much fuller! I love that we have a new GREAT salon in the Sango area. Highly recommend this place!

I have known the head hairstylist\owner,Selma for many years as she has had done my hair for as long as I have lived in Clarksville. I am very picky about my hair and I refuse to let anyone else but the Selma to touch my hair. Unfortunately, I had to move to Texas last year because of a new job opportunity my husband had and i have had drove to TN from all the way TX to just get my hair done twice in a year ! I would recommend her to anyone, she is experienced, very talented and most importantly she listens !

I saw this salon had great reviews so I booked an appt to get my hair colored. I did not want it cut as I was trying to grow it out. But unfortunately, my hair was fried in the process of coloring and the lady had to cut it (to get the fried ends off and do damage control). This was back in December and my hair is finally looking a little healthier after a lot of TLC. I will not be returning to this salon.

Called to check product they use and prices before bringing my mom in for cut and highlights. She quoted $65 on the phone for cut (short hair) and highlights, charged $100. She did not highlight the lower 1/4 of the back of her hair and did not layer her hair as she asked. She argued with my mom several times saying "no, no, no, that's not what you need. I'll do it this way." She also did this with another customer who came in for a cut. She refused to LISTEN to the wants of her customers. I would NOT recommend this salon unless you want a stylist to take complete artistic license with your hair. We felt she was dishonest and refused to give customer requests consideration.

The owner of this salon is very nice, and gives a great haircut. She has won me over from fantastic sams and other chain hair salons. But unfortunately this is the 3rd time I’ve driven to her location and have found the lights off and doors locked, even though I show up during her posted business hours. I don’t often give reviews and I especially don’t go out of my way to give 3 star reviews, but it is very inconvenient that this has happened THREE times. Either update the business hours, or at least leave a note on the door explaining the absence of employees during business hours. *EDITED* - I spoke with the owner on the phone after this experience and she explained that she didn’t show up because she wasn’t feeling well and had obligations with her daughter. I am understanding and do not wish any bad intentions on her. I will give her another chance and if she is at the store during her posted hours tomorrow, if she does a good job and is friendly, I will edit my review accordingly. But until I am proven wrong, the 3 star review will stay.

She has always done excellent work on my hair, and is one of the most genuinely delightful people I know. She is honest and decent--qualities that many people do not have these days. I read another review that was posted on here recently, and was appalled to see that the reviewer tried to say that Selma is dishonest and is "out to make a buck." Well, begging your pardon, but she is one of the MOST honest people I have ever met--and as far as "making a buck"--well, do YOU work for free? She has YEARS of experience, she has actual friend relationships with her clients and she always does her best to make people happy. In my opinion, its clients that want "something for nothing" that are the problem and I wouldn't put much stock in their opinion.

I have positive and negative reviews unfortunately. When I first went in I was expecting to get highlights but it turned out what I wanted was Baylage instead. lol Even though I got Baylage instead it turned out wonderful! I really love my hair. The owner knows exactly what she is doing and the staff is very nice and helpful. Unfortunately though.. when I got there for my scheduled app at 12:30.. my hair wasn't even started on until an 1hr and 30min later. Usually, I wouldn't wait that long but I figured what the heck since I had the day off. lol I looked at the price of the Baylage up on the wall when my hair was finally being worked on for $150 and I thought that included cut and styling (my mistake for not asking). So, when my hair was finally finished a little after 6:00pm and I went to pay at the cash register.. I wasn't expecting to pay $290.. especially for having to wait so long when I had a scheduled app. I actually thought I was going to get a little bit of a discount for me being a new customer that had to wait so long for my hair to even be started on. Regardless, I still tipped her though because she did do a really wonderful job on my hair. Unfortunately though.. with that being my first time there and having to wait so long for my hair to be started on.. along with the fact that I was not discounted for the wait; I can honestly say that yesterday was my first and last visit there.

Having moved here from a big city with lots of options I was super pleased to have randomly walked into this spot after my lunch next door and hit the jackpot! The owner was super honest and personable and did Amazing job on not only my color, cut and style BUT my husbands and both boys 6 & 9 (who are very picky and trendy). She also does fusion hair extensions which I'll be returning to get done once mine grow out.

I went to get my hair done at a different salon and they bleached my whole head and made my hair orange, so i went to Uppercuts hair salon and they corrected it! I recommend uppercuts hair salon for everyone!:)

Absolutely fantastic service! I called one evening in a panic about two children's haircuts, and explained how I had forgotten about school picture day the next morning! She stayed open almost an hour past closing to do both cuts! Definitely a level of customer service you don't see very much of anymore!

She talked with her to get what Mama was looking for and then went through different pictures until she found one Mama liked. Selma spent all the time My Mama needed to get what she wanted! This place is amazing and Selma is so caring and is all about quality over getting you out of the door quickly. I came in thinking I might do a relaxer but she explained how harsh they were and with my hair type I would benefit from a Brazilian blowout and oh my she was right!! My hair is so shiny and feels great and is straight! She also cut it just the way I wanted. People tend to have trouble with my bob but she listened and gave me exactly what I wanted!
