My stylist, Chris H, has been responsible for giving me the best haircuts for the past 24 years! I first met him when I needed a color correction and went to a salon in Milwaukee and the girl that was helping me kept asking him for tips. His answers were in stylist code because he was telling her exact product names to use to correct it! “Use b26 and then c 43”. The man knew his stuff! I decided then and there that he would be doing my hair from now on. I have followed him wherever he has been and when he made the move to Madison, I had to follow him there as well. Honestly, I get the best haircuts with lots of compliments from colleagues and friends from him. He is always open to suggestions, has ideas for things to try to stay current, and is an amazing man. As long as he is within traveling distance, he is the guy who I see. He makes me look good and I am eternally grateful for the past 24 years of friendship and looking good!!❤️❤️

I am SO happy I decided to have my wedding hair and makeup done by Be Inspired Salon. I brought in a few pictures to Jena and she used bits and pieces of each photo to create something unique and beautiful. I felt like she listened to exactly what I was describing! My makeup stayed in place all day, through sweat (it was a toasty June day!) and tears. I felt beautiful the entire day and didn't have to worry about touching up at all! If this is something you may be worried about, you can purchase the makeup the stylist uses. The Be Inspired team came to my parents' house the morning of the wedding to do the entire bridal party's hair and makeup. They were extremely professional and efficient; my bridesmaids and mother all looked wonderful! Many salons in the Madison area WILL NOT come to a remote location to do hair and makeup which wouldn't have worked well with our day. I am so glad Be Inspired offers this option! I called them up a few days later asking if I could come back in to have it looked at and they were able to get me in on the same day. DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. Let me first say... I have worked in the retail and service industries for many years. I NEVER write negative reviews. I was VERY patient and reasonable in trying to work out a solution with this salon, after one of their stylists destroyed my hair. I didn't want to be writing this. I just wanted to be treated with respect and fairness by the business providing me a service. I contacted the management and let them know I was dissatisfied with my haircut. (Dissatisfied is putting it mildly. I cried about it. I'm devastated. It's been three days and I'm still extremely upset.) I understand that the stylist spent time on my hair and that the salon used product and resources to deliver this service, so I requested a 50% refund, which I feel is VERY reasonable given the fact that my hair is completely ruined. The stylist lopped off 4-6 inches from my ends, despite my clear instructions that I am growing it out and wanted to take off as little as possible. It was too late to say anything by the time I realized how much she was taking off. Then, she rushed through my bangs, because another client was waiting and she didn't bother to check to make sure they were even. They were horribly asymetrical, which I didn't realize until I had left. The manager, Niki, refused to refund me. All she would offer me was to come back in again to have the same stylist who lopped off my ends and rushed through trimming my bangs correct their mistake. Why in the world would I trust this salon to touch me ever again? They might be able to adjust my bangs, but it's impossible to restore the length of my hair. I asked if they were offering me high-quality extensions to replace the lost length. Of course they weren't. Now I have to go have someone else fix my bangs and it will be at least a year before my hair is back to where I actually wanted it when I requested that my ends be trimmed. I do NOT recommend this salon. Their customer service is terrible, despite the fact that they claim to have a "satisfaction guarantee". I am appalled by the way I've been treated and I am heartbroken about the way that my hair looks.

Every interaction I’ve had with staff is met with the utmost respect and professionalism yet personable and welcoming. The main factor for me, and others I’m sure, for a place to retain my business is value. When I leave the salon and I look/feel like a million bucks, I know that the stylists at Be Inspired did their best to ensure that value. I also wanted to take the time to talk about my usual stylist, Jena. For the last two years Jena has been blowing away every expectation I could have had and then some. She has this unrestrained ability to adapt and create that I personally find awe-inspiring. You can see and feel the passion she has for her career. Jena makes me feel that she is not only invested in my hair/image but who I am as a person and I am sincerely grateful. When I moved to Madison, I was worried about my hair because my cousin, who cuts hair full time, has done my hair my whole life. I was matched at Be Inspired with Jes and I have never had a concern since. The service is so great! I walk out being really happy with my hair everytime. Jes is also an amazing stylist. She listens to what I want and also helps achieve my vision with her creative expertise. I have gone from super blonde to ombre and back all with healthy, good looking hair. Also we like the same bands so it's always a fun visit! Jes is so accommodating she even got me in for a touch up before my wedding and gave me great referrals for lashes! The salon is also beautiful, always clean, and the rest of the staff are so friendly! They also recommended a leave in conditioner and dry shampoo that are so amazing i will never turn back.

I've been coming to Be Inspired for years and have had great experiences with several different stylists! I originally found them because I was looking for people who work with curly hair. The atmosphere is very pleasant and clean and they're amazing with coloring and curly hair. My most recent visit was with Abby B - I adored the work she did on my hair! Pictures honestly don't do it justice! I like trying different things so I appreciate a stylist who is willing to be creative and provide some direction. I felt very comfortable with Abby's professional insight; she has a lot of knowledge and was able to transform my general ideas into something tangible and realistic. She was also approachable and easy to talk to, and I highly recommend her services! ☺️

For those who are looking for a salon, AVOID this place! If I could give negative stars on here I would. They are Deceitful, Lying, and Completely Unprofessional when dealing with a conflict. Clearly does not care about retaining potential customers and how to be professional. Charged my card on file without my consent, didn’t bother explaining anything about pricing or policies. When I called to ask about the charge to resolve the issue with the manager she immediately goes from a bubbly person to instantly cold and short with me. She tells me that it is a courtesy to explain to potential customers that they have a policy to charge customers 50% of the potential cost. The manager on the phone repeatedly tells me, “I’m sorry you feel that way” like a broken robot with no human emotions. If you had told me the policy when making my appointment it would have been fine and I wouldn’t be writing this review because I would have known the potential cost of cancelling. But the way this was handled and staff being condescending towards me the entire time, I felt the strong need to warn others. This was by far the worse customer service experience I have ever encountered and it is utterly shameful that management like you act that way when you are supposed to be representing a business and rely on clientele.

Victoria is the best! I followed her from another salon, all the way from the near east side of Madison. She is worth the drive. Relaxed, straight forward, clearly enjoys her art and getting to know people. Guided me through a drastic change in my hairstyle: pixie! The new location for Be Inspired is great, excellent customer service (in person and online) and nice touches like beverages, hand massages, and essential oils.

Every time I go to Be Inspired I have such a unique and amazing experience. I went in a few days ago for a consult with Diana after a not so great attempt at bleaching and toning my hair. I was under the impression that, following the consult, we'd be fixing my hair, but Diana politely told me that she had a very busy schedule and the consult was just seeing what we were working with. When she saw my disappointment, she went out of her way to ask her co-worker Chris if they could squeeze me in. An hour later Chris and his assistant were completely transforming my hair, all while Diana kept checking in to make sure everything was going okay. I was also fortunate enough to get to see Jena (my usual and amazing hairstylist who's done my previous balayages) while I was there, who also checked in once and awhile to see how I was doing. The end result with Chris was more than I could have asked for. He managed to transform the yellow mess my hair was into this beautiful stunning light blonde that I've always wanted. He even emailed me afterwards to make sure I was still happy with the results. I cannot say enough good things about this place and I will definitely be coming back!

I have never been to this salon and because I booked an appointment and had an emergency with my child I still had to pay $100. I was never told that I would get charged for being unable to come. Not to mention I live 2 hours away. Not at all happy with this customer service and wish the call was recorded so the manager could see that I wasn't explained the cancellation fee. So I will take my business elsewhere and out of $100 even though the services I was getting wouldn't have been that much because I was on coming in for a haircut! Everything I am posting is actually true and I explained it to the lady who called. I had to pick my daughter up early from school because she was sick. I have a 5 and a 3 year old also no reason to lie. I wasn't told about the cancellation fee yet still charged. I have no problem taking my business elsewhere. It's a shame.

I came in for the first time a couple of months ago for a cut with Jes Marvin, not really knowing what I wanted, and she was able to figure out (though broken pieces of descriptions and hazy ideas) how to shape my hair into something I liked. This is an excellent salon with a wonderful atmosphere. I get my long curly hair cut by Anna and I’ve never gotten so many compliments on my hair. She is a professional at her work and top quality hairdresser. She also has a wonderful personality making the experience relaxing and enjoyable.

I have zero hesitation in saying that I got the best haircut I’ve ever received today!! I highly recommend Demi. She has a calm and soothing demeanor that is very welcoming to be around. She explained every part of the cutting process, explained every product she used, and asked multiple times if I liked the direction the cut was going in (as well as a final “is there anything you want changed” at the end). I’ve always been the person that takes decently long gaps in between haircuts, mainly because I’ve never really been in love with what I’ve walked out with. But the cut Demi gave me today is SO precise, so well done and is 120% exactly what I wanted and pictured. (Definitely already booked my next appointment.) I’ve gotten so many compliments and I’ve only had it for 8 hours. Long story short— if you’re looking for a new salon or new stylist, this is your place!!! Micaela knows her color craft, and she's got serious scissor skills; she works magic on fine hair that likes to do whatever it wants whenever it wants. She is amazing with cutting curly hair and does a great job of listening to what you want. The salon itself is a lovely place to be. I am so glad I chose Be Inspired to do my wedding hair and makeup! I first got a balayage from Abby about 6 weeks before the wedding, which ended up looking awesome in pictures (this wasn't included, but Abby knew I was getting married so was very smart about my haircut and color to make sure it wouldn't look too long or brassy by the time the wedding came around). Jena was my bridal stylist, and I went into my trial with a ton of pictures but no idea what style I preferred or if I even wanted it up or down; Jena took a look at my hair, said she'd try something down and to the side and we could go from there. In the middle of her doing my hair, I decided I wanted an updo, so she course corrected and came up with the most beautiful twisty updo. She had great advice on what would look good and bridal. After the trial, I didn't like the way the foundation felt or lasted and asked if I could use my own, and she was so accommodating about that. On the day of the wedding, Jena and 4 stylists (Abby, Victoria, Katie, and Darien) came to our hotel room downtown. We had a great time getting ready and they got through 9 people in about 3 hours or so. Everyone looked beautiful, and our hair/makeup lasted all night. Be Inspired is definitely on the more expensive side, but I went with them because they offered a lot with the package - a blowout the day before your wedding so you have great rehearsal dinner hair and don't need to worry about washing it; they let you choose and keep your lipstick at the trial so you can use for touch-ups throughout the day (and have time between trial and wedding to get used to it) and keep it forever, and they include the trial for hair and makeup which was essential since I'm very picky about my makeup look and feel. I would recommend Be Inspired to any bride and they're now my go-to regular hair salon in the area!

Went here for the first time and got a curly haircut from Jena. I'd had a curly haircut before using the Devacurl method and not been very impressed. Jena changed that. She walked me through each step of the process and explained the why behind each product she was using and everything she was doing to my hair. It didn't feel salesy or like she was pushing products on me at all, but more that she really wanted me to be able to learn how best to care for my curls. I was able to recreate the steps at home easily (and without a blow dryer!) and my hair now looks better than it ever has before. Jena listened to what I wanted for my haircut, and how I preferred to air dry my hair. She was friendly and chatty and I felt very well taken care of. The salon itself is also gorgeous, very clean and modern and comfortable. All around an excellent experience and I will be back!

Salon is clean. Staff is friendly. However, I’m very disappointed with the quality of my haircut. My stylist had a good vision on what to do with my hair, but she truly struggled technically to execute the haircut. When you get your haircut, you place a lot of trust in the stylist. Unfortunately, my stylist made truly horrible mistakes. She decided to cut the length of my hair on one side longer than the other because I like to tuck my hair behind my ear. Also, she struggled to blend the layers of my hair and it looks like my hair is a collage of lengths. At the end of the cut, she straightened select pieces of hair to make the length of my hair match the others chunks. I tried correcting the situation while I was in the chair, but it was a lost cause. This photo is from one week after my hair has grown out. I’ve tried styling it differently. But nothing can really fix how poorly layered this hair is. My haircut cost about $85 with tip. When I left the salon, my stylist kept emphasizing that they would correct it for free if I came back. I should have known then that my hair wouldn’t be salvageable with styling.

I went to Nate for a little bit, tried finding a better stylist, couldn't, and came back to him for a bit longer, about three years. After the last haircut I can't return to him or this salon. First of all, they are way overpriced. $68 for what is essentially a trim? Because my hair is long? Get over yourselves. Your salon looks fancy so you think you can justify obnoxious prices. Second, Nate has no idea how to talk to clients. One of the few things he said to me during my haircut was, "you have more grey hairs since last time". Is he completely clueless? Does he think there is any human being who wants to hear that? Do you understand you're supposed to flatter your clients? Third, my last haircut was on the day of the massive flooding on the west side. It was pouring cats and dogs and I literally told Nate that he shouldn't style my hair because it was just going to fall apart as soon as I stepped outside. He insisted and said he would provide me with a shower cap. Well after being stuck on the west side in the flooding for about two hours by the time I got home there wasn't a single curl in my hair. So freaking $80 with tip for a trim and touch up to my layers and no style??? Absolutely ridiculous and I will never return this salon because of that. Teach Nate that his job is in customer service/sales and he's supposed to make his customers happy, not pissed, when they leave.

DO NOT GO TO THIS SALON. Let me first say... I have worked in the retail and service industries for many years. I NEVER write negative reviews. I was VERY patient and reasonable in trying to work out a solution with this salon, after one of their stylists destroyed my hair. I didn't want to be writing this. I just wanted to be treated with respect and fairness by the business providing me a service. I contacted the management and let them know I was dissatisfied with my haircut. (Dissatisfied is putting it mildly. I cried about it. I'm devastated. It's been three days and I'm still extremely upset.) I understand that the stylist spent time on my hair and that the salon used product and resources to deliver this service, so I requested a 50% refund, which I feel is VERY reasonable given the fact that my hair is completely ruined. The stylist lopped off 4-6 inches from my ends, despite my clear instructions that I am growing it out and wanted to take off as little as possible. It was too late to say anything by the time I realized how much she was taking off. Then, she rushed through my bangs, because another client was waiting and she didn't bother to check to make sure they were even. They were horribly asymetrical, which I didn't realize until I had left. The manager, Niki, refused to refund me. All she would offer me was to come back in again to have the same stylist who lopped off my ends and rushed through trimming my bangs correct their mistake. Why in the world would I trust this salon to touch me ever again? They might be able to adjust my bangs, but it's impossible to restore the length of my hair. I asked if they were offering me high-quality extensions to replace the lost length. Of course they weren't. Now I have to go have someone else fix my bangs and it will be at least a year before my hair is back to where I actually wanted it when I requested that my ends be trimmed. I do NOT recommend this salon. Their customer service is terrible, despite the fact that they claim to have a "satisfaction guarantee". I am appalled by the way I've been treated and I am heartbroken about the way that my hair looks.

I ended up at Be Inspired after a scheduling snafu (on my end) left me out of an appointment with my normal stylist. I jumped on their website and was able to grab an appointment with Jes THE NEXT DAY (the scheduling gods were on my side!). Jes listened to everything I said and nailed what I was looking for --and I have some pretty crazy color requests. The salon was beautiful and I felt well taken care of. Over a period of more than 13 years, I was “beautified” by founder Kati Whitledge (before she was Kati Whitledge) and then by the amazing Anna. Be Inspired salon is wonderful to work with! I've been going to them for years and have only had great experiences, and the bridal services are no different. Demi was my stylist. She was very flexible and did an amazing job! Her team also worked on the hair and makeup for my bridal party and mom. They all traveled to the venue which made the experience much more relaxing. All the girls were fun and we all had a fun time getting ready. Everyone was very happy with the finished product and we all looked gorgeous in pictures.

Anna Morgan cut my hair for the second time last week, and I am very happy with it. She listened to exactly what I wanted and gave me a beautiful cut. It looks really good - even when I style it at home. Also, I really appreciate how friendly and unpretentious the whole staff is. This weekend I went back because I needed a last minute cut for my 5 year old son. Abby Brenny did a lovely job and really took the time to give him a great cut. He has quite thick hair and it took a while, but she was very patient and thorough. Also, she has a way with kids and made him feel really comfortable. Overall, I recommend this very professional and pleasant salon!

I just moved to WI and was looking to get my hair styled. As an Afro-Caribbean woman, I knew that it would be difficult to find someplace that would treat my hair right. I found this place, a whole 2 and a half hours away so I decided to try it. My stylist was Darien Best. She was excellent and I recommend her to anyone with “black” hair or even just very curly hair. Before we started, she asked about what I wanted and expected. During the session, she was gentle...much more gentle than I am with my hair. Afterward, she sat down and trimmed a bit to get it perfect. I am happy with the result.

Master colorist and stylist Chris Hitchcock has done my hair for at least 20 years. He recently moved to Madison and is now at Be Inspired. I have curly, blonde, unruly hair. He has always been so great at giving me the best color and cut, consistently for so long. His knowledge, talent and ability to make me always feel beautiful is beyond amazing. I, and my hair, will miss him dearly. I can say with great confidence, Chris is THE BEST!!!! My expectations were even challenging at times but he always delivered. From the high end spa-like atmosphere the second you walk in to the down-to-earth conversation with a friendly stylist while sipping hot herbal tea, every moment of my visit to Be Inspired Salon was a testament to its name. Because of Darien, my hair is finally living up to its wild, curly potential! I nearly sobbed when she fluffed it all out after sitting under the Diva Dryer and felt the need to apologize to my mane for abusing it these past 28 years when it could've looked this fabulous all along.
