I took my daughter in for a much needed hair cut. I asked for an >A Dramatic A frame cut with deep layers for her and she got a Butched up Bob and Cut. Shorter on one side by almost an inch and some chunks missing. I'm sad because I though this was a high end place for the price. She could have got a better cut at a cheaper place. I myself go to high end places in Arizona and pay a little more than this place. When you pay $45 For a hair cut you expect it 2 B better than Super Cuts.... It wasn't. Advice > this company would be better if they had one person who focused on Short Styles. Hair is a womans Crown and No Woman appreciate someone else breaking it.

Hollie continually improves her skill and knowledge through advanced training. I get a lot of compliments on my hair, thanks to a great cut and style that works for my hair type and face shape. If you want your hair to look great and value exceptional customer service - this is the salon for you.

Got my hair don’t here wanted a bold balyage and lightning of hair and I walked out with tiny grey highlights that only were on my crown of my head. The stylist did not ask me if I like my hair and also gave me a less than disireable experience. I was not at all happy with the lack of execution, and I hated my hair. Usually at Aveeda salons your have nothing short of amazing experience. This was not the situation here unfortunately. I called in the next day and was asked a series of questions around what happened when I just wanted to get my money back or get it fixed. They asked me to come back in the next day. I was late for my 10 am appointment. When I showed up the “owner” came to me and said so since your late (no hello) we can only color your hair no blow dry or style, I said ok that would be fine. She kept on insisting that “since your late” as if she wanted to prove a point. She was very direct and rude and Made it very clear that she did not want me there. As I agreed to her stylist not being able to give me a full salon treatment she walked away with a smug smile and I was on the phone with a friend who heard all her rude and abrasivenes, she said that’s rude and I said “Yes she is rude” and she turned around so fast and said “You know what I’m actually the owner! And I’m just going to refund your money” which was great to me. I’m new to the area and was giving this place a try because I have high exasperated for my hair and unfortunately I was extremely dissatisfied with the experience, work and professionalism. Luckily I got a full refund to go to another salon who will actually give me my disired look without and attitude or smugness. For the price you pay here it should be a lot more high end, and customer obsessed. ✌

Simone does a great job cutting and coloring my hair. I feel great about myself and I get a lot of compliments on my hairstyle. Rose makes my nails beautiful and has taught me a few things about keeping my nails healthy. It's a fun, upbeat but relaxing place to go; very easy to make appointments and the whole staff is friendly.

Stylish decor but I hated my haircut and the lack of experience and talent I found coming here. I returned almost everytime I got a haircut so they could EVEN out my hair from one side to the other. I was recommended to pay the highest ranking trainer that cut hair on certain days when not training and this was the WORST! She actually cut hair on the TOP of my head when I asked for volume..yikes...yup, I looked liked electricity was lifting my hair, clearly, not the volume I was asking for. They boast they are the best Salon in The Couve but I overheard regularly others not happy. If you don't have an expectation and have a very basic hairstyle and ordinary hair and quick to be satisfied, this is the place for you.

I mistakenly forgot change for the meter (Does everywhere have meters here? lol) and so the person greeting me actually went out and put money in my meter for me! A+ on that. I was very pleasantly surprised by that! Hilary did my pedicure and she did a great job. Massage was good, scrub was good, nails are cute and done well. My only "complaint" if you can call it that is I would have liked under the nail cleaning like most places do, a deeper massage on the feet and scrub on the legs. She did do both of those things and did them well, I just thought it could have been done a bit more thoroughly. All in all the experience here was great. They went out of their way to get me a drink, put a quarter in my meter and the massage and reclining chairs are really unbeatable you won't get that at a strip mall nail place. Thanks again I'll be back!! :)

This Aveda salon offers services and products for hair to pedicures through waxing and facials. Vata is like a hidden treasure located deep in the heart of Old Downtown Vancouver. I started going to Vata Salon about six months ago. Just as you should expect from an Aveda type salon, the staff are warm and welcoming ,and very service oriented. I've used several of their services and they are always professional and friendly. I enjoy shopping their product wall and treat myself to one new product for each visit. I now have a very nice collection of Aveda products that I Love to use! I highly recommend Vata Salon.

I have been going to Vata Salon for almost 10 years. That should say it all. Vanessa is my stylist and always takes good care of me. I have recently started getting my nails done by Rose and enjoy that service a lot, too. Holly runs a lovely salon and all the staff are friendly and helpful. But the bottom line is always, "Do you like how your hair looks/feels"? Like I said, ten years should answer that question.

I love this place. I have been going to Hollie for 5-6 years before they moved out of the mall. The salon is always clean, relaxing, and has a atmosphere that I feel everyone can appreciate and feel comfortable in. The staff is knowledgeable and efficient. Hollie is always attending classes to help better her skills and the skills of those who work for her. They keep up with all the new styles but have such an array of techniques that they can always give you what you are looking for, or lead you in the right direction. All the stylist encourage talking about what you see for yourself. I have gone to get my nails and toes done as well and the quality of the work is equally matched literally from head to toe. I highly recommend this salon for whatever you need, products, hair styles, weddings, manicures, pedicures. They make sure you leave happy or they make sure to fix it and are always willing to work with you. Which I feel you couldn't ask for much more in a business in general, let alone a salon.

Went for a balayage (black to honey). Show the lady pictures of what I wanted. She ended up doing an ombre with a discolored brassy brown that i immediately hated. The ombre has some pieces that are longer that other sides. They didn't offer to fix it. I told them to just color it my natural hair color again. They haven't done it yet and want me to pay!!!!

I've been going to Vata for three years now and I wouldn't go anywhere else. In fact I forced my husband to start going here too. I like that I can make and track appointments online, the friendly staff always call with reminders which is great because my husband never remembers, and it's a clean environment with ample hair care products to purchase. Staff have have great at taking direction for my same old same old hair styles and they have been great when I want to take on a new look! I also love the Aveda products. Some say they are pricey but you end up using less which extends the life and you still get high quality.

They changed my hair appointment to a different day and never called to let me know. This has happened to me in the past at another store in another state. Not professional. Plus, you have to pay for parking. Found a better place, with lower prices across the Columbia. And no sales tax!

Easily the worst haircut I've ever gotten. I brought in four pictures and the cut looks nothing like them. She literally shaved the sides of my head and I don't even want to go out in public. My friend called to complain and their response was, "I don't understand why you're calling." The cut was more expensive than I thought and the coupon I brought didn't work. I'm used to not-awesome haircuts - I usually just go to Great Clips or have friends do them because I have terrible luck - but this is an all-time low.

Had my first wellness pedicure today due to a fungal infection I have had for a while. The service was excellent and not as painful as I thought it would be. Rebecca was vet attentive, constantly made sure I wasn't in any pain and was very methodical with the whole process Looking forward to just a few more appointments to cure the fungus out.

I've been a customer here for over 10 years. I wouldn't trust any place else with my hair. All the stylists are trained at the Aveda institute but then have to go through more training with the owner before touching anyone's hair. Every color I have received has been exactly what I ordered, and is consistent every single time. Same thing with my haircuts. There are different price ranges for services by different stylists. Make sure to ask the price range when you arrange your appointment. Vata also has started doing microblading and teeth whitening services. I haven't done them but I've seen some of the before and after photos and have been very impressed. Up front, they sell all the products they use, along with essential oils, makeup, and even a small amount of jewelery. I almost forgot to mention the complimentary glass of wine or cup of hot tea. Come in, the front end staff will greet you with a smile and friendly hello and help you with whatever you need. Free parking in the lot behind the store on Washington Street. Spaces are limited.

Everyone was very nice and accommodating. I went in for a one step color, red family, a cut blow dry and style. Color came out darker than my normal color, dark brown. The Colorist was so upset that it wasn't right, she said not to pay today but please come back, she would figure out what went wrong and make it right. She was genuine and concerned for me. I liked her cut and style. Just hope my hair color can be fixed. I'm sure they'll figure it out. Good shop. Edit - I returned today for my redo by LaTia, whom I was told was the top colorist. I am not disappointed because she is amazing. She is very friendly and patient. I left in awe of her ability to take my hair from dark brown to red with highlights while leaving it shiney and healthy, which was something she explained before we began may not be possible, as my hair is older and thinner. She is a treasure and I can highly recommend her and Vata Salon for taking care of me. A sincere thanks to LaTia and Vata.

PARENTS BE WARNED: If, god forbid, you have childcare fall through and you have to take your child with you, they will kick you out. I have been going to this salon for a long time and never had any issues. After my previous hairdresser left, I had an appointment with Alicia. She did a fine job, so I made a return appointment. Today, because childcare fell through, I had my daughter with me. She had her ipad, and would have sat quietly watching her shows. I was told by the receptionist that because they "throw bleach around" they don't want kids in the back. Then Alicia came out and said it was salon policy that kids are not allowed in. I told her that I would sign a waver taking responsibility for anything that might occur, and they basically told me to leave. WTH?! Really? Why, because it would disturb the ONE other client they had? I've been in the salon, when people have loudly been watching videos and talking on their cell phones (even after repeated warnings) and they were not been asked to leave, despite requests to stop. Nowhere on their website or in any of their written materials, does it say that kids are not allowed. I am so upset that I took time off of work to come in and have this be the result. Rest assured, I will not be coming back. Nor will my mom who also used to frequent the salon. I hope it was worth it Vata.

I was charged 10.00 to remove my gel nails. The tech said it was because I was using a groupon and already getting a good deal . If the groupon is to market your bussiness then perhaps the presenter should not be shamed for using it .

I am new to the area and came here to get my root done. The receptionist was very nice and welcoming. The 1st time my stylist was Lianne. I let her know I had greys on my hairline which really bother me. I let her know they can be stubborn to color. Thinking this would be a good heads up on how to deal with my hair. This salon uses AVEDA color. Which didn't work on me! The color left my greys greenish in color and the shampoo and conditioner left it dry and looking dull. On a side note, Lianne didn't have time to finish my hair and I had to leave with my hair half wet. She only partly diffused my hair which made it frizzy. I called and let them know what happened and how I still had greys. They apologized and asked me to go back so they could fix it. This time it was with Willma. She was very sweet and she redid my hair. She also took the time to dry and flat iron my hair. I let her know that my scalp was sensitive from the last visit and she put the heat on low and kept checking in on me. I left the salon with dry hair and with my greys. I paid for the service and didn't get what I paid for. The place is nice and so are the employees, but clearly, the products suck for my type of hair. As I am writing this review i am sitting in a new salon getting my hair redone again for the 3 time in 3 weeks.

This salon is clean and well run. Being an Aveda Salon, it also smells great inside and the atmosphere is relaxing. The stylists are all highly trained professionals..I have been to several over the years and never had an unpleasant experience. The one stylist that has become my personal favorite is Ryan. He is a master with the shears! I took him a photo of a cut I wanted and he totally understood exactly how to cut my hair to give me the style I want. It is the cutest and most technically perfect cut I have had in years.
