I had my first haircut with Jennifer this morning and am absolutely delighted with the outcome. It has been a long time since I encountered a stylist with the technical expertise Jennifer demonstrated. We talked at length before she picked up the scissors and she checked in with me frequently throughout the haircut to verify how much she was cutting before she did so. I was recovering from a traumatic haircut four months ago and had some trepidation about working with another new stylist but Jennifer showed a high level of expertise and delivered a great experience.

Stephanie is the best! I've gone to Salon Mariposa for over a year and Stephanie is the best! She's done my haircuts, color, facials and waxing. My hair doesn't take as long to process as many people's and she listened to me rather than doing what SHE thought was best. She's also very good at helping me decide what kind of haircut to get. My facial was also SO relaxing, she's personable, sweet and fun! Go to Salon Mariposa!

Stephanie is amazing. She is gifted and skilled at everything hair (cut, color, style, etc.) as well as cosmetology. She is also very friendly and delightful. Salon Mariposa is a fun, one-stop boutique beauty shop providing hair, nails, and waxing in a nice relaxed atmosphere. I did not have a regular place or person I went to before coming here, but now rely on Stephanie to keep me looking awesome! Also very convenient online booking and they do text reminders before your appointment, which is a life saver for me and my hectic schedule!

Stephanie is the fourth stylist I have been to since moving to the Portland area two years ago. I have curly hair that looks best a certain way. She is the first stylist that has left me immediately loving what she did. She has made a repeat customer for sure! She has a great personality too! So do yourself a favor and check her out.

She has great knowledge and experience with curl patterns and my first hair cut with her was the first good haircut I've ever received. Every hair cut since has been perfect. I haven't gotten my hair cut anywhere else since. Very reasonable price too.

I received the worst haircut of my life from this place. I've had to wear my hair in a ponytail since the day after my appointment in September. The cut was suppose to be simple. I said please put some layers to relieve some of the weight on my head. I was talked into some terrible technique instead, where she literally cut small chunks of my hair completely out. Looked fine after a blow out, but not the next day and forward. She cut these chunk out right on my part. I can't even part it on the other side, because it's in that part too. It's on my cow lick, so all of that just sticks straight up in the air. I literally look crazy. I've cried so many times over this cut. Now the hair is about an inch to two inches long, all around the top of my head, along with my shoulder length hair. Spikey hair on top that can't fully be smoothed down with a ponytail. Also my hair is shaped stupid on the top of my head when in a ponytail too because their is hair missing all over. Well, it's not missing, it got hacked. I've worked in salons for over a decade, not doing hair, but I know tons about it, and I have never ever heard of such a technique and now I know why. It's a terrible idea! Especially when I'm not full Caucasian, and part Asian. Asian hair is not soft and it does what it wants. She should have made sure of so many factors not going wrong before doing something so absolutely, I'm sorry, but Stupid. I dread every single day and having to deal with somehow making my head look somehow not like I went crazy and cut chunks of my own hair out. I called and reported all of this and got a half ass, come in and we will fix it. Umm, how will you fix my hacked hair? It's too short to do anything, unless you just buzz the rest off. Why not offer me my money back and a ridiculously huge apology. Worst, worst haircut of my entire life. And I'm stuck with it for god knows how much longer. Probably well past the holidays. This is a fun salon to go to. Decorated to be colorful and a little quirky, and the stylists are friendly and efficient. What I love most is that you can book appointments on their website for specific services and with specific stylists - and it works! You get automated reminders too. Prices are posted on the website too so you know what you're getting into. It's not the cheapest place you'll find, but the quality to match is there.

Today I attended Mariposa's Grand opening of their new location. What a nice improvement over the last location. Easier access and a more open feel to the salon. Three women in the group gave very positive shout outs regarding their experiences. And I must admit, for a pretty long time I noticed these women had great hairdos! So, now I know their secret. The salon looks very clean and there's a variety of stylist to choose from. Although I live in on the opposite side of town, my next hair cut will be here! Highly recommend.

EXCELLENT experience in every way!! I had my first appointment with Jennifer yesterday, after searching online for a salon (chose this one based on posted reviews, and couldn't be happier). If you are looking for a highly skilled stylist whose sole concern is first determining and then fulfilling exactly what her customer wants, I highly, highly recommend Jennifer. There were two other stylists there during my appointment as well, and they also seemed to be amazing. Very relaxed atmosphere too. If you are tired of enduring overpriced services (the results of which often leave you underwhelmed) by bored, rushed, or otherwise negative stylists, I suggest giving Salon Mariposa a try!

Jennifer is such a lovely person! She really pays attention to all of the details and makes sure to thuroughly ask about what you want. She is also very knowledgeable and really knows what she's doing. My hair is really thick and crazy and generally difficult but she knew exactly what to do with it. On top of all of that, she's very insightful and an all-around wonderful person. They also keep your formula on record so that any of the stylists there can give you what you're looking for. I've never heard of that and thought it was a really good idea! I would highly recommend this salon :). Thank you Jennifer!
